Chicken wings were good but did not have crispy skin, which is a negative for me. The blue cheese do with it was good with chunks of blue cheese, so that passed. I'm a Stout drinker and they had just ran out... completely! So not good. Though I did appreciate their small servings they offered of other beers without having to buy a whole flight. Only 2 TVs to watch football in the bar area. ... so don't come here for football.

Great addition to the Salisbury area. The beers are surprisingly mature. Nice IPAs and Stouts. Really liked the coffee stout. BBQ chicken pizza has a great stout sauce. It's just a tasting bar for now. Pints will be available in July. You can fill a growler. It's a little out town on west bound 50, but worth the trip.

I wish I liked this place more, because there are not a lot of lunch options near my place of employment. I've tried it twice now, though, and "meh" is being generous. The service is indifferent, the food is lackluster, and the non-alcoholic beverage selection is truly bizarre. They have Coke. Not Diet Coke, not Sprite: just Coke. And iced tea. And root beer, but only on the weekends. (And I know people like their beers - especially Redheaded Stepchild - but I'm not a fan.)

Not too often do I think a place is worthy of five stars. Tall Tales definitely earns it though, even with their minimalist approach. We came here several times over the Labor Day weekend and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves each time. The service was fantastic and the food was incredible. It's true currently due to the liquor laws of the county where they're located they cannot serve full pints. But they currently are pouring their beers in 6 ounce tasters that are quality glasses of the appropriate style to sample their beers and enjoy the craftsmanship. So you may have to order a few, it keeps it fresh and cold every time. And at $2 a sample ... if you have 3 your really getting 18 oz for what you traditionally pay for 16 ounces at most places. They also offer all their beers in growlers to take home with you. The building and layout is excellent. They have a wonderful bar tasting area with a few barstools and several high tables. A small dining area off to the other side. A little lounge area with several leather couches. They have a huge outback that consists of an interlocking paver patio, outside bar, sand pit area with corn hole. The brick ovens are located outside, behind the bar where you can observe the chef at work. Throughout all of our visits the service was always exceptional. The chef even came through the restaurant & tasting room talking to people at the tables and making sure they were happy. Their brick oven pizza are fantastic! As far as their craft beers go they were great! We especially enjoyed; Red Headed Step Child, John Henry and an experimental DIPA they had on tap Bonnie and Clyde. Several growlers made the journey home with us! I would highly recommend this place for both their beer and food, you won't go wrong. We will definitely be returning!

Wow, I don't know where to begin. Lets start by walking in the door. You are greeted by a beautiful water feature upon entering the building, continue to the bar which is cozy and features taps mounted in the wall in a cask/barrel facade....very cool looking. We were greeted by the bar tender who took our orders for flights, she was very well informed and explained each beer. We ventured through the restaurant area which includes a very well done lounge area. Open the doors to the outdoor area and it is simply breathtaking, beautiful bar top, well landscaped, a sand covered area with corn hole and picnic tables. The outdoor was very well done as they didn't just use the whole area for seating; there are trees, plants and well maintained shrubs in mulched beds. It really feels like an outdoor retreat. Behind the bar are the wood burning ovens...they smell amazing! Our bartender brought us our flights and we ordered a crab dip pizza. The beers were pretty good, my favorite was the Sasquatch; chocolate and coffee notes but not too heavy. Our bartender checked in on us several times to see if we needed anything. Out came our crab dip pizza....HOLY CRAP was it good! The cheese was good quality, the crab dip was superb, and the crust was amazing. Being from NJ we are no strangers to good pizza crust, the bartender informed us that the crust was made in house as well as 95% of everything else on the menu. Our experience here was absolutely amazing and ended with us chatting with one of the staff who informed us of a coastal craft beer challenge. He told us about other local breweries and gave use a brochure outlining the challenge rules. It was great to hear local breweries and supporting each other. The entire restaurant was lined with tastefully placed growlers from local breweries. I would highly recommend this place!

Of course when it's time to leave Ocean City, I can't seem to just walk away and go home, so when I saw the sign for Tall Tales Brewing Co. I had to stop. Vacation can't be over! The ambiance is great. We sat outside at the outside bar and ordered a flight to try, 6 fire grilled wings, and the special of greek skewers ($7). The skewers came with a BIG chunk of feta, cucumber, red onion, and 2 kalamata olives. It was good, it was a little odd to eat though, but still good. The fire grilled wings were cooked in their brick oven and then tossed in sauce. We opted for a mixture, what we like to call Buff-a-Q....buffalo and BBQ sauce. oh yeah. Love the sauce combo, wings were tasty. But...it is a brewing company. I've been to a fair share of brewing companies, and this was prob one of my least favorite in terms of beer. I felt like most of theirs were "thick" tasting, if that makes sense. Nothing went down easy. I actually left 2 (out of 5) untouched because I couldn't stomach them. One was a double IPA, which I normally like, and the other was their bourbon barrel. Just not for me. They were all out of their Some Beach. If you're looking for a great outdoor space with good food and corn hole, give this place a go. If you're looking for great beer, travel over to Berlin, MD and try Burley Oak.

Tall Tales was on a brewery tour I went on and I liked a few of the beers I tasted. I came back with the family to try the brew and the food. I was surprised to see the relatively low rating. So I decided to rate it myself. For starters, I came during the week and the appetizers were half off and the pints were only &4. That's good because I agree that $9 for six wings is pretty high especially with all the chicken farms around, but either way there are other choices if wings aren't your thing. The service was good. Friendly and attentive without being pesky. The portions were on the smallish side. Not skimpy, but given the price and location I would expect larger portions. The food flavor was really good. So if you're more into food quality than quantity then this is your place. The beer was great. That's why we came back. The wife and I both ordered the Red Headed Step Child. Overall Tall Tales was good. We'll definitely be back.

Me and my boyfriend absolutely love this local hot spot. When you first walk in the look is modern yet warm and welcoming. They have different sections that you can sit at including a bar section indoor with high top tables, an indoor lounge section which has couch-like tables..SO COMFY! There are also a lot of flat screen tvs all around the restaurant so you can watch your favorite sporting event. Lastly there is an amazing outdoor section for when it is warmer out. They have live bands in the summer which are always amazing to listen to! Now don't get me wrong, the environment is great but we all know that the guests are coming for the beer and food. They have several different types of beer that are always on tap such as some beach and red head step child which are my two favorites and Bonnie and Clyde for my boyfriend. Any of the servers there will explain to you the different brews and good food to pair it with! I love knowing that the staff is not only educated on the products but they are also ALWAYS friendly and willing to help. Next comes the delicious food. I am lucky enough to live less than five miles from the establishment so I get to try all the food whenever I want. If you live further away you might not get the chance so I will list of some of my favorite options. The pizza is number one no doubt. The crab dip pizza and the white pizza are by far some of the best pizzas you can get near the eastern shore. There original pizza is also amazing and they are always running awesome specials like 14$ for two pints and a pizza! Can't really beat that! They also have a seasonal chicken sandwich with pears Brie and pieces of cranberry which is amazing! My boyfriend loves to stick to the wings because they are always consistently good! The thing I love the most about the menu is that it is ever changing! They keep up with what's fresh and seasonal so we always feel like we are getting the best! Keep up the great work!

In a nutshell good, but unspectacular beers. We stopped at Tall Tales for a tasting on our way back from Bethany Beach. The brewery bar and restaurant area features a bright, welcoming room reminding me of a pine lodge. About a dozen beers are written on a chalkboard. Unable to decide on a particular beer we went with a tasting of 5 beers. It's nice that they allow you to select which beers you want. You can also add experimental beers for $3 per tasting. My favorites were the Excalibur IPA and the Double IPA. Both displayed good balance with crisp hoppy finish. We also tried the Bonnie and Clyde and the Alf Together Now, which I wasn't as big of a fan of. Overall, Tall Tales is a nice reprieve from the frequent horrendous traffic and the staff was very friendly. I think Tall Tales definitely has a lot of potential, but I simply was not blown away by their beers to give them 5 stars. That said, I'd definitely head back the next time I'm in the area.

EDIT: We've been here several times since I wrote the original review and have been exceptionally happy with the food, drinks and service. Our favorite thing there is the crab dip pizza - so delicious! I'm thinking the previous experience we had was not representative of the place as a whole so I felt it was important to edit this review & show that. OLD REVIEW (2 star): We live right around the corner from here and I really, really want to like this place!!! Unfortunately our visit (first time ever) was a disappointment. Upon being seated they never asked if we preferred inside or out & in fact we had no idea the lovely outside area that everyone raves about was even open until we were leaving. The staff seems generally disorganized & rushed, although there was nothing speedy about the service. We waited over 5 minutes for a server just to come take our drink order & even longer for it to arrive. Despite an anticipated time commitment we opted to order crab dip. After 25 minutes we canceled that order, paid and left. As far as the beers - they are fine tasting but not really notable either way. They are however, notably small. But, as explained by a previous review this is because of the local laws & they should be getting normal sized glasses in July. Wait, this is September... Anyway, the place was nicely decorated and clean. We're pretty casual people and we were dressed appropriately for the relaxed decor. The crowd was not what we were expecting - a lot of heavy lipstick and coach bags accompanied by starched shirts and khakis milling around. All the hob-nobbing between the wanna be white collar men made us feel we like we were crashing someone's post golf private party. Don't get me wrong, I understand not everyone fits in everywhere but the atmosphere wasn't even slightly welcoming. All in all I was hoping for something more. Maybe we will try them again, but probably not anytime soon.

Was my first time going to this place. First things right away when I walked in and sat down with the family was, it was hot in their. I guess the air conditioner was broken or that's the way they keep it. Second bad thing was their was a fly infestation, hot and loads of flys around. Not cool!! Third worst thing which I think was important was the beer. They didn't have 3 beer selections that I pointed out that I wanted cause they said they ran out...? What? Wow I don't get it? I could understand if they just opened, but they been open for awhile. No excuses for none of these things. Well let me get to the okay stuff. The pizza was good, the service from the waitress was amazing :) I MIGHT be back to see if problems are fixed. But I sure won't recommend this place to friends.

This place is the worst, don't go. The bartenders are awful and don't care about customers. They chatted with each other the whole time and didn't wait on anyone.

We are not impressed! Sad beers were not very unique although the taster of choc. cherry stout was good. Pig wings... Really 2 little shanks for. $9 that are cold... U have to be kidding! My tip if you are heading to or from OV stop at Burley Oak or EVO for quality. Very disappointed!

I went to use a groupon for samplers and ended up getting all three of their wing flavors. They actually make their wings in their brick oven which adds a lot of depth to their delicious flavor. My favorite wings were their honey and Old Bay wings which were nicely caramelized and cooked to perfection. My party also ordered one of their brick oven pizzas, which was good too. Over all the service was great but kind of slow. However we did show up right as they opened for lunch on a Wednesday. So I wouldn't expect mind blowing speed at that time of day. Either way I would definitely go back just to have some more of their beer and hopefully some more of their wings.

My Mom raves about this place...but so far it was lackluster for us :(...though I'm wondering if we went on an off day? The beer was tasty, the crab dip was "ok"...needed something, maybe some spice? We ordered the Margherita pizza and it was definitely not the best I'd ever had. It was almost like they used cheap mozzarella or something. It was literally pizza soup :( so not that tasty. My Mom swears it's better and we have to try again...so we will...eventually.

Since my first priority when visiting a place is their gluten free selection, I am VERY happy with tall tales. It is a brewery, and their kitchen does not have a separate gluten free area, but they will switch utensils for you. Let me just say...A wood fired gluten free pizza that CANNOT be beat!! They will even do the crab dip pizza GF! There are quite a few options that they will do gluten free, including wings cooked in the wood fire oven as well. While they do not have a gluten free beer, there are plenty of wine and mixed drink options. For the non GF customer, you are in for a treat!!

Stopped on the way back from Ocean City. Great spot with a simple, honest menu and great beers to match. Very happy we dropped in!

When trying new beers, the most important thing is a good sampler setup. They have a great 5 beer sampler and clearly labeled. All of them were unique and worth drinking. The wings were fire baked and had beautiful caramelization. We also grabbed a brick oven pizza that was all we could have asked. Great place to sit back and grab some good beer and food.

I am a Boston Boy who sells food. Menu is simple and all food is cooked in brick oven so menu is simple....,,and whoah is it good! Pizza is incredible Boston North end good with excellent sides/apps of field greens, soup and shrimp. It is a bit off beaten path but as Thomas Edison said; "Great things are never accomplished by those who walk the beaten path!" The beer ain't bad either!!! A must stop for those who wander around the DelMarVa!

It appears they don't want young children there. They didn't have a high chair or a booster seat. We had to leave. We were really looking forward to trying the pizza. Bummer.

We visited here for the first time last weekend. Before anything else, our service was amazing from Abby. She really made up for the rest of our experience. The menu is just not good. I don't have any other words for it. The selection is limited and I felt like there were no main entrees except for a pizza or sandwich. The food we did order from the appetizers, wings and crab dip, were very good. We ordered a salad and for the enormous price, we found about 3 slices of turkey breast. My mom has dietary restrictions and she was not in the mood for a salad for herself and there was not much else she could have. This was our first time in years that we have run into this problem while dining out. She ended up not eating at all. So she asked for a Diet Coke and they don't carry it. Really?!?! She was left with a glass of water for the evening. The prices were a bit much for Salisbury and the value did not add up. I did enjoy the food we ordered, but it was nothing I was really into eating. I ordered because I didn't have a choice of anything else. Unless I'm meeting a friend for a drink, which I don't think will happen because it is outside of town, I don't think we will be back.

Wonderful brewery! First props to hostess Stacy and our waitress Roni, made the visit very pleasant and fun. The beer was really good, I'd Duclaw is joining them for beers things are GOOD! Wings are excellent and pizza was brick oven perfect. Fun to watch the kid make the food in brick oven, hot work. The entertainment was real good, Jerry Speace.

Good beer, but was served warm. Asked them for another of same beer, but only if it was cold. They gave me another and it was warm. Let's try again: beer #3 - They were nice about giving me another type of beer - one that was cold. Bar area was hot and muggy.

Let me first say that the building and property are really, really beautiful. Went there expecting the usual tour and to be able to ask questions about the beer. That never happened, but they offered to give us one later in the afternoon. Beers were OK, not special and not awful. There is a really tasty White IPA with a nice citrus taste and aroma. The amber was pretty good. The other 3 in my sampler were OK. They had an experimental chocolate milk stout that I hope they experiment some more--a little to bitter on the finish. Nice wait staff.

Both owners of this business reached out to me after my, less than flattering first review. My family did return without accepting the generous offers to insure that we were well treated. I believe that it is easy to make sure someone is well treated when the business knows who they are and expects them. Our recent visit this past Friday evening was very nice. The host and server were attentive, music was nice, pizza was very good, and the beer was excellent. We will definitely return when the opportunity presents. Thanks for a very nice time. rcm

Cool place. Yummy wings, pizza, and nachos. Ice cream sundae was awesome. A little slow since they use a brick oven. Check it out.

First visit last night and will definitely be back. Had a great time at Tall Tales! Excellent server. The beer was very good. I was a fan of the Red Headed Stepchild going in but wanted to try the other offerings so I got a flight of all five of the mainline beers. Everything was tasty. Ordered a fire grilled pizza and it was excellent... Crispy and cheesy. My friend ordered the Mediterranean platter and some wings and he enjoyed both.

  • Brenton W.

The beer gets a solid 5 star rating and the quality of the food is phenomenal. However, the cost is absurd. Hate to sound pessimistic and start a 4 star review off on the negative but $9 for 6 wings is laughable. I don't even think the prices are that jacked up on the boardwalk in the heat of the summer. Crab dip is $14 -- another pricey treat. Having said that, the taste of the wings were delicious and the crab dip was elite. Off the top of my head, I'd say they have the most options of brews on tap compared to other craft breweries in the immediate area. Where Tall Tales shines is their 5 oz option which runs you $2 a glass (a few are $3 [imperial IPA, imperial stout and maybe another brew or two). You can end up treating yourself to 15 oz of beer for $6 and having sampled three beers. It's winter now but they have a beautiful outdoor patio that would be pretty relaxing to sit out on come this summer. A few reviews I read said they can't serve pints due to county regulations -- this is no longer in effect. You can purchase 5 oz, 16 oz, growlers, etc.

Good pizza very nice restaurant, they still have the small tasting glasses for the beer, they hope to sell the pint size in a few weeks.
