I have lived about 200 yards from Giovanna's for over 15 years, and yesterday I finally set foot in their place. It is exactly what you should picture in your head when someone says mom & pop pizza place. First it smells heavenly, second its cozy & clean. (It also has a nice little outdoor patio). Ordered a plain cheese pizza, (my wife has made choices about what she will and won't eat, which I sometimes have to suffer through. No meat on our pizza), I liked it. Also, I like my pizzas well done. Often times the restaurants can't seem to understand this request. They got it just right. The menu looks like something I can spend the next couple of years working my way through. I gotta say living in Parkville just keeps getting better and better. Thanks Giovanna's.

We've been delighted with the pizza (regular and white), the ziti, the Gorilla sandwich, their lovely deviled eggs, but most surprising was the nice side salad with the BEST dressing (Parmesan peppercorn, I think) So so so good. Their cannoli and cake are also delicious. We eat a LOT of pizza, and this has replaced all other restaurants in our pizza rotation. We make sure to plan the week to avoid pizza cravings on Sunday, since Giovanna's is closed. Everyone who works here is friendly and professional. Highly recommend!

Hate to leave a bad review. Ordered the Baked Ziti and an order of Chicken fingers. Baked Ziti was possibly the worst i've ever had. Sauce was "different" - a bit spicy, not sweet or cheesy at all, and pasta was unimpressive. Overall a lifeless dish. Chicken was good. Good amount of breading and decent quality chicken. We'll give them another try for their pizza. Will be looking elsewhere for pasta in the area!

Amazing chicken cheese stake with jalapeño poppers! The cannoli with chips was a bit too citrusy for my like though. The customer service was great! This place feels homie and staff is personable. I would definitely visit again especially for lunch with friends or family.

After reading great reviews, I really wanted to try this place. Unfortunately, I found my food to be pretty average. I ordered a cheesesteak with lettuce and tomatoes which was actually pretty good. The meat was moist and tasty and the size was generous for the price. The bread was a little bit soggy but definitely good enough - just a minor issue. The plain cheese pizza was very pedestrian. The pizza was too dry and hardly had any sauce. During the 5 minutes from the restaurant to my place, it got cold. The crust was too hard and difficult to chew. Unfortunately, there was nothing special about the pizza, and I really didn't enjoy it. It could've been from any other place on Harford Road, even a chain. Hopefully I just went there on a bad day.

A great little Italian pizzeria. Not my favorite place for pizza but i love their subs. Their italian coldcut is to die for. Order it with everything, you wont be disappointed. If you're looking for a local dish, this is also a great place for all things crab: crabcakes, crab soup and crab pretzels.

The pizza here is amazing!! My favorite is the pepperoni. The pizza is super cheesy. It can be a little pricy but so worth it.

I am updating my previous review. I have been happy with anything that I've ordered from Giovanna's. Everything is delish - subs, pizza and sides. Haven't tried any of the pasta dishes yet but I am a little surprised that chicken parm isn't on the menu (or the online menu, at least). I love that they offer online ordering and free delivery. My previous review revealed a gripe about the delivery guy but that was the only time that ever happened. Since then, I have had the nicest delivery people.

Everything I hoped for. The baked ziti special, 2 pieces of garlic bread, and a salad for $9. Plenty of food for the money. Enough for a grown man and leftovers. I was impressed by the Italian cold cut. The meat was fresh and proportionate to the toppings. Customer service was wonderful and even though they were busy with call ahead orders; our food came out in due timing. All over great experience. There is room to dine inside. I also would suggestion calling ahead if you are in a hurry.

First time pizza eater here in Baltimore. Just moved here from the west coast. Delighted to find such a high quality pie within 5 minutes of the house. Great pizza, wonderful wings, good value. Would highly recommend Giovanni's to anyone!

Absolutely delicious! White pizza (we got it without the tomatoes) was wonderfully garlicky. The cream of crab soup had a great kick to it. And the cheesesteak sub was everything delicious! We are definitely going to be repeat customers!

Just had a Sicilian pie with the works. Best pie I've had in years. Crust was substantial, baked to the perfect finish and obviously homemade. The sauce was bold and well seasoned without over- powering the toppings, which were added in the perfect amount and well distributed. This was a pie made by a chef, not a cook. If you want to enjoy the best Sicilian on Harford Road and possibly all of Baltimore order from Giovanna's. You won't be disappointed! The tea is also home made and delicious! I am looking forward to trying the rest of the menu. Il meglio del meglio!

We love this place. The staff is so friendly and once you go in a few times, you will be called by name. It is a great deal for a great price. Dinner pasta specials are Monday - Thursday night's. You get a pasta entree, salad and bread. Try it, tell Mike, Ms Kathy and Drew hello.

I've been driving past this spot for several months, and finally had the chance to stop in for a bite today. Now I'm kicking myself for not getting here sooner. I entered into a cozy kitchen with a small eating area up front (plenty of outdoor seating on the nice deck!). There's the obligatory small tv in the corner and a copy of the Sun set out in case you have to wait. I greatly appreciate a spot that still puts out a paper. The menu is Italian. Gloriously, traditionally Italian. No off the wall additions or combining Mediterranean dishes, this spot is a real pizzeria - which is damn near impossible to find in Baltimore. I ordered two Sicilian squares and indulged in some Olympic volleyball. The gentleman who took my order brought the squares out from behind the counter (so polite) and they had the immediate "DAMN!" effect. The $2 squares were huge. Once they cooled down (no reheating here) I found them to be indulgent and tasty. Not too much sauce, quality pepperoni, real cheese and REAL Sicilian crust. This is not frozen, thrown together, cut-the-top-of-your-mouth, this is buttery, crispy, chewy Italian love. You know when you're watching a great movie set in New York and there's a pizzeria in the background? Then it's all "damn there's no good pizza in Baltimore". You just don't know my friend. Get a 16" here, rent 'Godfather'. Then you'll be all "damn Coppola should have made this movie in Baltimore". For reals Natty Broh, for reals.

Harford Road rules! Thanks to places like Giovanna's. Best pizza in the area. Hands down. My husband also likes the Sicilian. I am just not a fan of that style, so I won't say either way. This is a tiny tiny spot, not much room to sit, though there ARE tables inside. And a very cute deck outside with herbs & twinkle lights. Please don't knock the service here, they are all very very nice. This is the best pizza in town, kids - CHECK IT OUT.

First visit tonight and purchased a large pizza. I have been making the rounds the past several months trying pizzas from Towson to Hamilton and into Harford County. This was one of the best I have had, thin excellent home made crust, thin layer of a slight sweet sauce and a lot of mild but flavorful cheese. Pick up price was $7.99! Excellent value.

This place rocks. Do you know the feeling when you watch those traveling food shows and wonder "gee, why are there none of those cool neighborhood joints around me?" Well, wonder no more. Giovanna's is the best neighborhood takeout I've ever been to. Mike, the owner, is a trained chef, and this is evident in the dishes. Everything has a unique quality that no other place can duplicate. My favorite thing to order is a chicken cheese steak. It's amazing. Everyone is so friendly and calls you by name when you walk in. I highly recommend this neighborhood gem.

The Bestie and I decided to cruise up Hartford Rd to Racers for a decent bottle of wine or beer. We said to ourselves "gee....some pizza would be good". We popped our heads into the joint a couple doors down (no need to mention their name) but left because of the lack of energy and warmth. We saw Giovanna's while heading back down and made a swift Uy and boy were we glad we did that!! We were immediately impressed by the pleasant smells that met us at the door. And the smile from the dark haired gentleman was even more inviting. He was patient as the two very decisive Virgo/ Libra duo made up their minds. We decided on "The Works". While we waited for our pie we sat outside on the cute patio and smelled the array of fresh herbs they had growing. We just knew that was a great sign and we were in for a treat! Now..."The Works" wasssss soooo delicious. I'm normally just a cheese and pepperoni girl but not that day. The spicy sausage, pepperoni, and ground beef were a nice combo. The green peppers, onions, mushrooms, and black olives were cooked to perfection. There's nothing worse than crunching on raw veggies on a pizza. Everything on the works worked!! The sauce was zesty and the dough soft and buttery. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch that day! Giovanna's pizza is definitely a pie I could crave.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
