This location never gets my order right. Things will either be wrong or left out. Recently, we ordered carruout of fish tacos. After getting home, I discovered it was chicken instead of fish. Also, I have contacted corporate 3 times about what kind of fish they use and its origin, They have never responded.

Twenty minutes after we were banished from Panera, we needed to eat something soon. I have work at 4am! I got the no meato burrito (and it's vegan!), and my friend got the quesadilla with cheese and spinach. His meal looked really small compared to my burrito, but he said that he liked it. CalTor has an array of awesome salsas and spicy sauces for your food. I put some mangy sauce on my burrito, and that joint was good. The sauce was only 10 calories per teaspoon, not that I'm counting calories or anything. The no meato burrito comes with sauteed vegetables, black beans, spinach, guacamole, white rice, and salsa. Why do people even eat brown rice?? I want my rice stripped of all of its nutritional content. Real Asians only eat white rice, and most White people that I know get brown rice. Seeing as how I am a contrarian, I got the white rice. It just tastes better. I had so many questions to ask the cashier, Amanda. Namely, I would like to know what is the least popular menu item, and where is the spinach from. I didn't want to mess up our vibe though because she greeted me very kindly. I have learned in my short life not to ask questions.

Their menu is huge and although not varied (it is strictly a tex-mex place) there is something for everyone, including veggie dishes. Ordered ahead of time at the Olney location for pick up, walked in to a nicely packaged pair of meals waiting for us, fresh and warm, and handed over by a very nice professional employee. And yeah, the burritos were really good. It's still not even 10 am but for some reason i am having a craving for ...um...see above.

Staff is always friendly, and they used to have a local discount for anyone who worked in the adjacent shopping centers (which I no longer do). Food is great, and so are the prices. Plenty of parking, too.

Pretty darn good. I always get the screaming burrito. Staff is very friendly and it's always clean.

I frequent this restaurant frequently. It is my go to place when I work a little too late and don't feel like cooking, or forgot to take something out of the freezer. I love the food, the atmosphere and the absolute cleanliness of the restaurant, BUT Nothing tests my patience more than, while placing my order, the phone rings and the counter person takes their order while in the middle mine. This has happened to me on several occasions so it is definitely not an an isolated incident.

Good ole C T! This location is one of the best. Great food, friendly staff and a nice facility. The Taco's are awesome. However you have to request hard shell Taco's. They have the cool coke machines. I love the 80's music! The California screaming sauce is the best!! I'm coming back!

As a kid there was a California Tortilla that I often went to and enjoyed. I remember spinning the wheel and getting discounts and jumping up and down during my order to get various free foods. Awhile back it closed down and I hadn't been since...not until I discovered one had opened up relatively close to my house. Driving over I didn't really know what to expect, I had forgotten what I used to order and what this place offered. Well, they still have the wheel kids can spin every Monday around dinner time to win various prizes and by the soda machines they have the wall of various sauces ranging from mild to extra hot I faintly remember growing up. I ordered a steak quesadilla, a side of guacamole and a drink. The cashier told me it would be cheaper and add chips to make it a meal and offered me a "Burrito Elito" points card which gives you $5 back for every $50 you spend. Since the month and a half I've known about this places existence I've gotten $15 back which speaks of how much I like this food. The staff is friendly and the place has tons of indoor and outdoor seating and is kept very clean, I'll be back sometime this week!

Definitely chain store Mexican food. You can certainly do worse, but you can also do better. In my opinion, for my chain-store Mexican food dollar, Chipotle makes a better burrito. The service was polite, though it seemed like the girl at the counter was trying to up-sell us by making recommendations for the most expensive items on the menu. Slightly off-putting. The restaurant itself was pleasant enough. It was clean, and again, the service was good. I would certainly go back if I was shopping in the same complex. Drive across town to eat at one? Mmm, probably not.

Hmmmm. Get a grip on your self before you go here. It's totally chain. If you took this place, Chipotle and Qdobo (sp.?) and mixed 'em all up, you wouldn't know the difference. I do like the wall of flame at CalTort (I use a lot of each bottle!). I can't really recommend any ONE particular thing as it's just not that spectacular----for dinnner. For lunch....perfect. Of course, this being a blue state, there's no beer (booo!) and just lots of sugary-chemical-y Diet drinks out of the sheeple-drink dispens-o-matic. The prices are not amazing, either. I don't think I ever got sick here, so hence the 3 stars. Perfect for teenage/little one families.

I was so happy to have this place so close to where I live. The staff is very pleasant and the food is good. Not the best Mexican food, but better than some of the other Mexican style casual dining options.

I am pleasantly surprised at all the fresh ingredients in the salad I am eating. Even more, guacamole served not at an additional fee but included in the very reasonably priced entree. This place is very clean and servers are friendly and responsive to all needs that I've had for them.

I seriously wish they would open one of these close to Hanover, MD! I either have to go to Bethesda, Olney or Baltimore to get me some yummy California Tortilla. I swear by their food that they are better than Chipotle! The salads are crisp, fresh and refreshing. The burritos are amazing, gushing with fillings and are all custom built when you order at the cashier. You are able to se the food being prepared, so you know how they make it and who is making it--this is always comforting to me. They also have a huge amount of crazy hot sauces. Each time I go I try a new one! If you have not tried this place out yet please go in and just order their queso, you won't be able to leave without ordering a second side order. The bathrooms are always clean and the floors nice and neat.

Wish we had one of these in Michigan! The AMAZING selection of hot sauces is enough of a reason to visit. Such a fun place to have lunch!

I found the entire staff to be friendly and welcoming! I was, quite honestly, surprised at how good I felt when I walked out. They greeted me with enthusiasm, were polite and generous in their manner, and made me feel like they like their jobs and were happy to be there. So many places leave me feeling like I inconvenienced them, and the staff talk amongst themselves rather than engaging with customers; but not here! Thanks for a great experience!

LOVED Cal Tor more than Chipotle, Cafe Rio, Baja Fresh and the like. However, they keep trying to change to be more like Chipotle, creating a create it yourself section while taking all of my favorites slowly off of the menu. I miss the blackened chicken Caesar tacos and the bbq chicken quesadilla SO much. I guess you can order it in the create your own, but it slows down the entire service process and confuses the cashiers. My food tends to come out wrong. I love the special-dilla and I am hoping they keep that on the menu to avoid similar confusion. Bomb chocolate chip cookies. Stop trying to be Chipotle with the create your own and be freaking Cal Tor

Although I love coming here for the wide variety of hot sauces, this location always gets my order wrong. The last three times I have asked for guacamole in my burrito (and been charged for it) only to find out they forgot about it completely. Not a happy camper.

Great place to eat and it's a quick process. Also, try the Specialdilla - it's a quesadilla with blackened chicken, spinach, black beans (I order without), and I add avocado.

I wish this location was close to my house as the food is the bomb dot com compared to my local California Tortilla. My best friend and I always come here and the food is always so fresh tasting! Seriously...you should taste the Cal Tor in Silver Spring. It's scary. Lol. Honey Lime Burriots + Chips & Queso.....yum. Oh and the super cool coke machines that I love!

I can say only positive things about this place because I rarely have any poor experiences here. Sometimes waits are long but usually on weekends or weekday lunches, which is expected. The food is delicious and Cal Tor has a wider selection than Chipotle does, so I'd still go here. Cal Tor has been in Olney for more than 10 years; Chipotle is the newbie in town. The chips and queso are delicious, but the chips are salty and the cheese dries quickly, so eat up fast! They have promotions all the time, discounts in the Gazette newspaper, and occasional e-mail deals and of course, a great rewards program that includes a free burrito on your birthday. The wall of sauces are also worth checking out. Mad Dog Liquid Fire is my favorite--will make any taco go from bland to grand.

The food is delicious but WAY too over priced!! I don't plan on going back anytime soon. Prices are not worth the little bit of food given

I used to be such a fan of this 'Cal-Tor' Olney speak for California Tortilla... When I was working in Olney I would get take out for lunch at least once a week and always the same thing the Crunchy BBQ Ranch Chicken Salad. SO good. It was about $6 and HUGE, feed me for lunch and dinner and was loaded with chicken, veggies and fresh romaine lettuce. Ordered it today for lunch for the first time in a couple years and I was super disappointed. The Romaine has been replaced with shredded iceberg 'taco' lettuce , the tomatoes are nonexistent, and the chicken 'strips' grilled chicken cut in strips have been replaced with a lot less cubed over salted shredded chicken. The salad is also now $7 something. I understand inflation, how it affects the price of gas just as much as a BBQ Ranch Chicken Salad. But, what I don't understand is the price going up and the quality going down. Sadly I don't think I will be venturing back, especially since I prefer Chipotle for my burrito the size of my head fix. The staff was great though very friendly, hence the three star review instead of two. Bottom line I think there are much better options for lunch in the area.

Always friendly staff. So many burrito and salad choices and doesn't act pretentious about it's selections (cough "chipotle" cough cough) On top of that their burrito elito card ensures that my loyalty remains firm with discounts and sometimes free food items. Even if I don't go there for awhile I receive free food on my card to entice me to come back! That's good customer service.

Food is alright. I only have two problems with the burritos: 1. The food is never that hot 2. The chicken is translucent, pink, and has a gummy mouthfeel. Other than that, the tortillas and vegetables taste nice & fresh.

When it comes to fast food Mexican, Chipotle still wins, but I'll take CalTor over Taco Bell any day! We came here to use some of the coupons I had gotten at the free preview event last week, which they gladly accepted- a plus since I've been to places where they give you a hard time about that sort of thing. Anyway, the food was decent- not that quick on the service, but at least everything was warm. The portion sizes could be a little bigger too. We tried the new Korean BBQ taco again- I would recommend it over the others. Who would have thought a Korean-Mexican fusion dish could be so good?! The biggest drawback to this location is the noise and the crowd. Every time I go by here or go in, its filled with middle and high school kids, and its hard to even hear yourself think. Can't fault the staff for that, but a little sound absorbing material would help!

I used to love this place. Not sure what is going on with management here. Supposedly the Olney location is a training store. I am not happy with the current management and as such rarely go now. Fish tacos? Best in hard shell. Sometimes their shells are nasty tasting, not sure why. Salads have gone down hill. Everyone else in town uses romaine, why this place has chosen bagged junk lettuce I'll never know. No comment on burritos, never had one. It is reasonably clean for a place that gets swamped with kids. I love the iced tea, kids love the soda selection.

Staff is super! They go out of their way to make sure everyone is satisfied with their orders and energy is always upbeat. The whole restaurant is always extremely clean, well stocked and as an added important bonus, my daughter eats everything she orders! :)

Everything is relevant. In terms of California Tortilla, this one is great. The staff is friendly and prompt, and the food is always what you expect, or possibly even better. The monday "Spin the Wheel" deal is pretty awesome. I've won free burritos on multiple occasions. One time the former manager gave me a free burrito and drink after they had closed. I was hanging out with some friends, skateboarding out front, and he told me to do a trick down the stairs. I did, so he treated me, which was very surprising.

The best burritos in dc/md! The staff is super friendly and the food is great. They are always running promotions and post in facebook and Twitter.

This place has become a staple in my diet. They really have some of the best fast Mexican food you can get. They recently renovated the place and its a lot nicer in that aspect. I love the reward program. Every $50 you spend you get $5 off your meal. Can't beat a the prices there.

For a Mexican fast food chain, I think this place is really great. I eat here whenever I visit my brother since we don't have them in Massachusetts. The burrito with jerk chicken is excellent. Pluses: fast service, great salsa, cheap and tasty. They also keep a wall of hot sauces that you can self serve and try as many as you want. They have a customer loyalty program that allows you to earn free food pretty quickly. No minuses except it has the typical sterile chain restaurant décor and atmosphere.

Two Words, People: Fish Tacos. They rock my world. I heartily approve of them. They are blackened, savory, fresh deliciousness in my mouth. Sometimes I will dream of these fish tacos. I am surprised I can get anything this yummy and fresh at a fast food joint, but it's true, I can. Friendly staff, too. & Super clean. Yay for fast food that rules.

Clean place, friendly staffing and prompt service. Had an order mix up today, took it back to the counter and they switched it out no questions asked with a smile on their face. Good job Cal Tor.

I used to like this place, but the last two times I have been there it appearts that cooks are getting restless. The food has really slacked off. The sour cream was rotten, ugh... Not very happy as I used to like this place. It will be a while before I return

The food and staff are always great, but there are 2 touch-screen Coke machines, and they are NEVER working properly. Result? Flat soda that isn't sweet enough. It sucks.

This is our favorite California Tortilla in the area. The service is friendly and the food comes out fairly quickly. It can get pretty busy at times but I have always been able to find a table. I also love their new fancy soda machines!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
