Rita’s Italian Ice

3233 Spartan Road
Olney, 20832
Reviews:
Rita's has been a favorite sweet treat of mine since high school. At that time, the closest locations to where I lived were either Crofton or Burtonsville. Now they are popping up all over the place. The Olney Rita's has been around for almost 2 years and I was thrilled to have one so close to where I live. This year, the Olney Rita's has already been open for a few months (perhaps since late winter even?) while it seems most don't open until the weather really warms up. In my opinion, all of their franchises should be open year round. (Many are in other states, but there are a few in Maryland.) You can get ice cream in the winter, why not Italian ice too? They furthermore have absolutely no competition since no other Italian ice places exist in this area (at least that I'm aware of...) But anyway.... Rita's is definitely a popular spot during the weekends, nights, or pretty much anytime in the summer. They have a great selection of ices. Their products allow various combinations of flavored ice, custard, and add-ins, which makes each experience there different. They will also let you sample different flavors if you want to figure out what you'll like before you buy it! This location does have indoor seating and I believe some outdoor benches.
Rita's is such a yummy treat! I wish I had one closer in NC, but sadly the closest is a 30 minute drive. The Olney location is a great one. It is always very clean and they always have a great selection of flavors. It is definitely a great price, especially compared to Coldstone nearby. I usually get a gelati. It is a layer of frozen custard, layer of ice, then more custard on top. My personal favorite ices are cookie dough, fudge brownie, mint chocolate chip, strawberry, and raspberry lemonade. They use real fruit which is awesome! My picky dad even enjoys Rita's and he hardly likes anything.
Always clean and cheerful. Indoor (hooray!) seating. Very popular place. Don't come right after camp lets out!

Good location; can get busy in the am.
Great and clean starbucks! This is one of the cleanest starbux branches I have ever been to. Staffs are super nice! I like how the manager put his business card in front so everybody can call or Email for comments or complains.
Great service! The baristas are very nice and friendly. The location is generally clean. I have several stop-in options on my commute and this spot is always my preference!

This location never gets my order right. Things will either be wrong or left out. Recently, we ordered carruout of fish tacos. After getting home, I discovered it was chicken instead of fish. Also, I have contacted corporate 3 times about what kind of fish they use and its origin, They have never responded.
Twenty minutes after we were banished from Panera, we needed to eat something soon. I have work at 4am! I got the no meato burrito (and it's vegan!), and my friend got the quesadilla with cheese and spinach. His meal looked really small compared to my burrito, but he said that he liked it. CalTor has an array of awesome salsas and spicy sauces for your food. I put some mangy sauce on my burrito, and that joint was good. The sauce was only 10 calories per teaspoon, not that I'm counting calories or anything. The no meato burrito comes with sauteed vegetables, black beans, spinach, guacamole, white rice, and salsa. Why do people even eat brown rice?? I want my rice stripped of all of its nutritional content. Real Asians only eat white rice, and most White people that I know get brown rice. Seeing as how I am a contrarian, I got the white rice. It just tastes better. I had so many questions to ask the cashier, Amanda. Namely, I would like to know what is the least popular menu item, and where is the spinach from. I didn't want to mess up our vibe though because she greeted me very kindly. I have learned in my short life not to ask questions.
Their menu is huge and although not varied (it is strictly a tex-mex place) there is something for everyone, including veggie dishes. Ordered ahead of time at the Olney location for pick up, walked in to a nicely packaged pair of meals waiting for us, fresh and warm, and handed over by a very nice professional employee. And yeah, the burritos were really good. It's still not even 10 am but for some reason i am having a craving for ...um...see above.

I love Ricciutis! I have been going there for years ever since I was a kid (back when they had ice cream in the summers). My favorite is the Finito pizza and I get it every time that I go there. I love the dessert pizza but I try to stay away from that one due to the calories. Love the calamari. The atmosphere is quaint and cozy. It could be a great romantic date spot with the dim lighting if it wasnt in Olney and I knew everyone that worked there. The service is good too. 4 because its pretty darn good.
I am surprised by the somewhat low reviews for this place. It's very cute and cozy for starters. I thought it was a bit pricy, but they had half price draft beers and cocktails on special when I was there. I LOVE that they have all the local farms listed on the menu where they get their food. Awesome. The food was DELICIOUS! I just thought it was a tad overpriced. I had the mac n cheese which was oh so good! Not super creamy like typical mac n cheese, but good nonetheless. My coworkers also had pasta dishes that they all really liked. For dessert we split the dessert pizza which was delicious! Just be sure everyone likes raspberry because there is raspberry preserves on top of the chocolate pizza sauce. YUM, so good though. I would definitely go here again, because I want to try the pizza!
I can't believe I wasted my money on this crappy food. Sunday meal with the family, ordered appetizer beef and veggie rolls, heirloom tomato. Main meal: pepperoni pizza, spaghetti and meat balls, steak salad, some chicken dish with melted cheese and pasta, braised veal risotto. The veggie rolls were horrible. The filling was just god awful beef and onions and dripping with fryer oil. The tomatoes were good but how can a plate of tomatoes and cheese get messed up? The pizza was horrible, chucky cheese has better pizza. The braised veal risotto was flavorless. The braised veal was missing and the rice was creamy as a risotto should be. Spaghetti and meatballs were ok but really lacked any flavor. All in all the food is just not good here. I don't know what people ordered that gave 4-5 stars. The food lacked any real flavor. Momma lucias is a much better option even though that's not the best Italian food.

Al Sospiro Trattoria

Reviews:
Had dinner with my wife. Service was great and atmosphere is really nice. Smaller more intimate place. Server recommended the fritters. We also ordered clams. Clams were great fritters were so so. Dinner was good. Normal Italian items. Now the dessert was really good. The owner came over to present our options. She told us he hand makes everything. We ordered a chocolate cake item that came hot. It was really good. The check came and I looked it over and moot or they took the fritters off. I did not even say anything but that they were ok and we did not eat them. I asked to have them put back on the Check but they insisted. I thought that was a really customer oriented move. We will Bw back for sure.
Dinner tonight was awesome! From accommodating us ( we wanted to sit outside, they only had one server working and she warned us it might be a leisurely meal outside) which we didn't mind at all...apps, wine, entrees, desserts! All very good and we cannot wait to go back!
Just thought I'd update my last review, as we hadn't been to Al Sospiro for a while and went again last night. We were hoping it was good as it had been in the past and it did not disappoint. Also nice to see a good crowd - we don't want this restaurant to go anywhere. Highly recommend.

Our favorite Chinese when in town. Their hot & sour soup, cashew chicken, and Hunan beef are just haves. The staff is amazing whether you order in or carry out.
Are you kidding me? Who are these people that gave glowing reviews? The food is bad. The service is bad. I couldn't eat the food or was so bad. The rice was reheated and gross
Sometimes great things can be found in strip malls. Great value for the price. Peking duck is a must have. The happy family is also worth ordering. I would skip any of the sizzling dishes. Neither tasty nor authentic. Crispy birds nest noodles were also mediocre. Avoid the walnut shrimp.

A very hidden gem that many don't know about but should. The burritos are the main attraction here. Very fresh ingredients, assorted meats, chicken, pork etc, and the best part are the made to order flour tortillas. To die for!! (Don't literally go die... Just get a tortilla) Burritos are made Enchilada style, smothered with your choice of mild, medium or hot sauce, and covered in cheese. Try one and you'll never go to Chipotle again. The same in house tortillas are also used for the tacos, and while a different pull from the traditional tacos, these hit the spot everytime. Drizzled with their in Josue tomatillo sauce which is an amalgamation of some kinda ranch sauce... Delectable to say the least. They also boast salads, enchiladas, quesadillas (which are magnificent) and a few other Mexican specialties. Definitely recommended for a welcome change to the usual Mexican fast food.
First timer! When I went I was really excited! I had a free coupon for buy one get one free on burritos so I was ready for war! I trusted the employees who were charming and personable to make me two of the best burritos possible. Everything going in sounds great! In the end though, it's all about how it comes together. It was nothing special, the sauce poured on top kinda overpowered the flavors. Flavors of the individual ingredients weren't distinct, and everything tasted kinda the same. No textural contrast, no differing flavors. Disappointed, but will come back and try again. Food 1/5 NOMS
Not Chipotle, but I really like it here. Their drinks are soo good, I love the basil lemonade and I think their 3 leches is the best I have ever had and believe me I have had plenty! The one thing I will complain about is their employees lack of enthusiasm. As a new client, taking a few friends with me we all were a little confused as to how the items came, how to order etc and the employees really didnt say much except look at us with "resting B* faces" which we all were about to leave if it weren't for my persistence on eating here. I also didnt appreciate that we bought drinks and were not able to refill 15 minutes before closing because they decided they were ready to leave early. Im glad we ate here, will be back and hope the employees have a better day next time.

I have not eaten dominoes on over 10 years and was impressed with the service and timeliness of the order. The pizza dough itself was better than I remembered. If you are on a budget and want decent pizza, this is a good choice.
This is our usual Friday night pizza place and it's been great the last couple months. I order online, the pizza rarely takes more than 30m to arrive.
The ordering system online is easy to handle and the pizza comes hot. Sometimes it takes a while for the delivery driver to find my condo but other than that, it's pretty good.

My wife and I went here for the first time this past weekend. Great atmosphere, bar area, and I found the waitstaff very personable. We had a couple of small plates (beef skewers and hummus platter) that were excellent. I had every reason to believe we'd continue that trajectory into the main meal, but we were both really disappointed with the entrees. I ordered the spaghetti carbonara and was shocked at how flavorless it was - there was no seasoning whatsoever and even the tomato didn't stand out as very tomato-y. To rule out the possibility of a mini-stroke that had obliterated my taste buds, I asked my wife to try it and she had the same assessment. Additionally. my wife commented that her dish - mussels - was also fairly plain, commenting that she could taste lemon and that was about it. We really wanted to like this place. One disappointing dish you can chalk up to hit-or-miss but two just means to avoid in the future. This place started out when it opened as small-plate fare only, but they haven't yet made the transition to equally-impressive entrees.
2.5 if i could. Ambiance: Strip mall at the corner of Georgia Ave and 108 in Olney. Small seating area out front on the sidewalk. Inside features reduced lighting, a wood bar, tables that aren't too close together. Comfortable. Service: Not amazing, but definitely not terrible. On the high end of average with the regular wait staff (slightly brusque, not terribly engaging, but efficient), but the floor manager came by a couple of times too. Beer Selection: My inner beer douche is admittedly coming out here, but I don't think you can really call your place a gastropub when you only have eight draught lines and eight bottles in addition to the standard macros. The draft and bottle lists were nicely varied between styles, and most are local, but there were no pleasant surprises or rarities. Perhaps I've been spoiled by the well-curated and thoughtful draught and bottle list management at other nearby places like Quench, Full On, and Victoria's (a legitimate gastropub if ever there was one). Food: Had a few different small plates, as well as the charcuterie platter. Some of the stuff was really good (beef skewers and the charc), some was good (my wife's ravioli), and some was a mixed bag (meatballs over polenta). Where the food gets weak is that some of it is a tad underseasoned (the polenta and the bread basket), which is not that big a deal, except that this place did not have salt and pepper shakers on the table. That's a pet peeve of mine. Don't take the power of seasoning out of my hands. I might be a pepper addict for all you know, needing that spicy, sneezy black powder fix, man. Value: This place was definitely on the pricey end. The charc platter in particular was on the expensive side. The charc, plus ravioli, small beef skewers, small meatballs, two beers, and a cocktail ran a hundred bucks plus tip. Overall: Nice ambiance, better than average food, over-priced, with an average draught and bottle list. Probably won't be a regular.
Excellent meal. The hangar steak au poivre was perfect and the frites delicious. The salmon was a little undercooked but tasty. The chocolate cake was so good! Moist and decadent. Very attentive service. All in all a lovely evening!
