It was cold....but who cares. It's ice cream! So we went and did some hiking at the State Park nearby and Lakeside Creamery had a stand there. And we thought...that looks yummy. Then one of us realized that this place was in town and had a view of the lake...and they had more flavors than the place at the trails did. SOLD! I opted for the Watermelon sherbert & Creamsicle Ice Cream. It was fabulous. We were here on Mother's Day and if you were a Mom you got free ice cream. My friend that was with was a Mom-To Be and she was able to get a freebie too. :) Ice cream, you can't go wrong :)
I love this place, great service, great location, awesome ice cream. You must go! You'll enjoy it, I promise. Your tummy will thank me.
We usually make a few trips to DCL in the summer and the Lakeside Creamery is a daily induldence during our visits. The ice cream is excellent. They have a pretty good selection and I can't say I've ever had anything I didn't want to rave about. They sell their crack-addictive ice cream by the pound, which is unusual where I come from. At first, that threw me off, but it's really a great system. Very fair as you end up getting exactly what you're paying for. The staff is friendly and appear to be mostly high school and college students. They work hard but sometimes they're out matched by the shear mobs of customers. If you see a line, don't be intimidated, it moves pretty quickly. If you have a few friends, they have a monster sundae that has something to the order of 12 scoops of ice cream and is loaded with topings. They serve it in a frisbee, which is yours to keep. I've seen a few of these made and it's a site to behold! Perhaps my favorite thing to do in DCL in the summer is to get an ice cream and sit out behind the store, facing the lake. You can watch all the boaters come in to dock at the creamery and some are more skilled than others. On a busy Saturday, it's pretty fun to watch the chaos as inexperienced boaters try to execute a flawless approach to the floating dock... sometimes they stick the landing, and sometimes they end up sideways! If you're in the DCL area, you really need to do yourself a favor... visit the Lakeside Creamery!

An amazing oatmeal stout!
Starbucks with a much cozier feel. Great coffee. My family enjoyed the frappe drinks and pastries. My mother in law especially appreciated the inviting fireplace on a cold day. Kinda bumped into the place looking for the pizzeria located just above it in the little strip mall. Step inside, though, and you're enveloped in quaint. Good place. Wish we'd found it earlier in the week.
Super cute coffee house w/ free Wi-Fi and a decent breakfast menu. Front of the house cashiers were rude--customer service training in order.

Cleanest, most professional, and efficient Dairy Queen I have ever been to. Was camping at Swallow Falls and ice cream was a matter of life or death last night. The "Pumpkin" Blizzard was my life line.
Only about a year old, the DQ Grill & Chill has the best fast-food burgers in town. I usually just add lettuce, tomato and mayo to their regular or double-cheeseburger for a very inexpensive but delicious lunch. It has cozy little booths, outdoor seating for nice summer days, and is nice and clean. Great milkshakes and Orange Julius, too! Quick, friendly service.

JG’s Pub

Local hometown little pub with some solid eats. We had the buffalo chicken salad and the pub salad - both great portions and fresh produce. The crab soup was very hearty with big chunks of crab and vegetables. I probably would have added a bit more Old Bay, but that's just my preference. Nothing overly fancy but a tasty meal after a cold day of snowshoeing. Would definitely return for a beer and a snack.
Great steak hoagie!!! One of the best I've had. Big enough for two people to share but hard once you get a taste!
I've been driving past this bar for years, since I was a youngin' on family vacations in Deep Creek, actually. Now that I'm old enough to stand at the bar, I stopped in for a few deliciously frosty beers and some bar nibbles. It's divey, but in the best possible way. Worth a stop on the way back from rock hopping at Swallow Falls, that's for sure!

Deer Park Inn & Restaurant

This is an expensive place by Garrett County standards and a great value by DC standards. Our bill was about $175 all in. Two of us had soup, salad, and entrees. We shared a bottle of wine (on the high end of their list) and each had an eau de vie to finish out the meal. The warm mushroom salad was one of the specials we enjoyed and it was delicious! Everything we ordered was good and arrived at a relaxed pace. The meal took about two hours. The dining area is lovely and still has the original wallpaper and many of the original furnishings. There is a lovely French couple who run it. They are very friendly and enjoy talking about the house. I will definitely be taking friends here when they come to visit! I'm very excited to have found an upscale place at Deep Creek! ~Christine Zellers CEO, LBDC
A birthday meal at Deer Park Inn made our weekend at Deep Creek! On approach, the inn is something out of a film. Quirky yet quaint, with pretty flowers and a very nice patio. We hadn't made a reservation so we ate inside their Victorian style dining room. We were the only people in there and the classical music was a little loud, but it all added to the general atmosphere. Our waitress was lovely and welcoming. Susan made us feel at home but wasn't domineering throughout the meal. The bwana raved about the bread which is apparently one of their specialities, but all the food we had was great. Definite highlights I can remeber were the homemade ravioli and the zucchini wrapped around homemade boursin cheese. My main of duck confit was delicious, and we finished up with an orange creme caramel and a dark chocolate pate. When she heard we were celebrating a birthday, Susan ran back into the kitchen and returned with a candle which was a nice touch. Our expectations weren't so high but we left saying that it might have been the best meal we have had since moving to DC, and I doubt you'll have a better meal in Deep Creek.
Searching for this restaurant was a bit of a searching game; even stumbling upon it my friend and I weren't sure we were in the right place (not realizing it was part of a bed & breakfast) - but the result was certainly worth the search. The interior of the Deep Park Inn was elegant and charming. The dining room was a bit on the small side and sat a maximum of around 30 people. The service was wonderful - Susan was delightful and friendly. Between myself and my friend we had: -Ravioli w/ spinach and salmon -Curried chicken in coconut cream -Citrus Salad -Bread basket (fresh and perfect) -Rainbow trout -Blueberry Cobbler -Chocolate Pate Not a single dish disappointed. If you're in the area, Deer Park Inn is worth a visit

Good sandwiches with fresh ingredients. Enjoyed the muffin top and latte. Strong recommend for the chefs chicken salad.
Walked past this on the way to another restaurant for breakfast.... wow, that was a mistake. After running away in horror from the other flea market/dive diner, we came back here for hopefully some decent coffee and road trip snacks for the day. WOW! Amazing food, the baked goods.... well lets just say still doing the gym time for those and it was TOTALLY worth it. Coffee was fantastic, setting was cool, service was GREAT! This is the only place to eat breakfast in Oakland in my book. It's small, get there early. Eat lots and enjoy the food coma
Awesome Chai Lattes :) I love visiting. It's a bit small, but it has an intimate ambiance. Great place for a lunch date. The ham and swiss is really good and the moscato tops it off.

Cornish Manor Restaurant

My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner here 6 years ago. We went this year to commemorate our wedding anniversary. The ambiance is nice and the food was good, with exception of the creme brûlée. The service left much to be desired for, including the bartender. In their defense it was Autumn Glory weekend, so it was very busy.
We had an outstanding experience at Cornish Manor last night. The old victorian mansion setting is so charming. The ambience is very special. The food was delicious. We ordered the fried oyster appetizer to share which was a generous portion and perfect for sharing. I ordered the orange roughy with crab imperial. It was wonderful. My husband ordered the lamb shank special with veal demi glaze. What an inspired dish. I kept stealing bites from his plate. The wines by the glass were chosen well. The service was very slow, which made most of the meal more enjoyable and relaxed compared to the normal rush you through the courses treatment we get at most restaurants. So, we were fine with the slow pace of the evening, except that it took an extraordinary amount of time for us to even be able to order drinks and then an extraordinary amount of time to receive them. The restaurant was surprisingly VERY busy for a Thursday night in off-season, which is probably a testimony to how good it is. This restaurant is truly an oasis in a place where McDonalds is a better bet than most restaurants in the area. To top it off the prices are so reasonable compared to home (DC) and for a much finer meal and experience. We come to Deep Creek often and will be going to Cornish Manor regularly now. It's a bit of a drive but so worth it.
Great food and wine selection. Tip - sit outside in covered patio during nice weather.

Let me first say, we are foodies. It's a thing. We like to explore restaurants, especially fine dining and excellent chefs. Don't you just love it when you food arrives and you want to clap at the beauty and imagination of the chef? Isn't it wonderful when you take that first bite and want to swoon? If so, don't go to Dutch's. We found this restaurant to be expensive, but it just doesn't cut it as a fine dining experience. The food is blandly prepared and presented with less flare than a cheap diner. Read on... Dinner for 3 at Dutch's was $300.00 including drinks, appetizer and dessert and tip. Expensive to say the least. We started at the bar and waited for our table. The bartender was friendly and professional. This was the highlight of our evening. Once seated, we ordered drinks/wine and oysters ($24.00 per dozen, expensive for bland Blue Point oysters in season). My drink order came out wrong and we had to wait and wait to flag down the waitress. My husband actually offered to return my drink to the bar. When the waitress FINALLY arrived, she removed the drink, but before returning the drink for the correct one, she asked us if we wanted to order dinner (rushing us). We said "no", we would wait for the drinks and oysters. Isn't that the correct order? drinks, appetizers, then dinner???? For dinner, we ordered (1) Lobster tail and Crab Imperial, (2) Crab Imperial with a Crab Cake and (3) Small Seafood Platter (crab imperial, crab cake, scallops and shrimp). There is NO choice of sides - you get a salad and 1/2 of a twice baked potato (at least twice, maybe five or six times - dry, empty, boring). We were served bread (excellent) and salad (excellent). Then, the entree order arrived quickly - too quickly. As if it was in on oven in the kitchen, waiting for someone to order it. The presentation was BLAND. White food on white plates, sitting on a white table cloth -- without even a sprig of parsley to dress it up. As the waitress rushed off, I noticed that I did not get shrimp with my Seafood Platter. Again, the wait and wait to flag down the waitress. She made an excuse that the shrimp wasn't ready, so she brought the rest of the food while it was being prepared (does it really take longer to make shrimp than crab imperial and crab cakes????), so I would have to wait for the shrimp. I explained to her that serving food in parts was not acceptable (of course this has actually happened to me in a cheap diner - never in a fine dining restaurant). Further, I explained that it is the job of the staff to prepare the food so that it comes out together and timely. She walked off and a minute or two later, a manager came over to give me the same excuse. Mind you that all of this time, my food is turning cold. After explaining to the manager that a seafood platter should be prepared and presented all at once, I told her that she could take back my platter. I lost my appetite. This is what happens when I feel I am getting poor service and have to argue with the staff at a restaurant - while other diners are looking on.... I loose my appetite and don't get it back. At that moment, the waitress rushed over and plopped down some shrimp and walked away. Three greasy shrimp on a white saucer (who does that???). The manager also walked away. I was feeling bullied into keeping a $45.00 platter that was now cold and I was no longer interested in eating. I tasted my food: Over cooked, dried out crab imperial (oh, such a crime!); cold, over cooked crab cake and 3 smallish scallops that tasted like they were being kept warm in a steam bath for hours. YUCK. I had it boxed up and ordered dessert. The dessert was "peanut butter pie". HORRIBLE. It was pie crust smeared with chunky peanut butter, topped with vanilla jello pudding. It was chopped up, unrecognizable as a pie and covered with a mile of whipped cream to cover the poor presentation. Again, white food on a white plate. Unappetizing. It looked like left-overs from last week. The waitress was not good. She obviously did not check the food before bringing to the table. She obviously did not check the drink order. The chef it really just a short-order cook and should be fired. Don't you agree that food presentation is important? When spending $300.00 on a meal, I should be wowed by the food on my plate, not bored and disappointed. If you know seafood and how it should be prepared and presented, you will be gravely disappointed. If you are not accustomed to eating Maryland seafood prepared as it should be, you will probably really think this place it spiffy. For me, and my family, we won't be back. Rating: two stars, maybe three. Absolutely NOT a four or five star restaurant...although they obvious wish they were.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Dutches. We both ordered steak entrees and they were perfectly cooked and tasted amazing! The oysters I ordered for an appetizer were so meaty and tasty, and the calamari was awesome too! We both shared a cheesecake for desert which was also wonderful. I couldn't believe that every single thing we ordered and ate was so good. I can't wait to come back here again someday when we're back in Deep Creek Lake! The staff was so friendly and attentive and the atmosphere was great. I wouldn't have minded a seat overlooking the lake but we were close enough to see out anyway. Check this place out for sure!!
This restaurant was recommended to me as the place to go to when coming into Deep Creek Lake. Krista was our waitress and did a wonderful job. We got the Dutch's seafood platter and split it. It was large and perfect for two people. Great salad and fresh bread to die for. A bit pricey but we'll worth it. Would recommend this place hands down to anyone.
