Came here for the first time with my boyfriend and his friend yesterday. I'd first like to say that this place stands by our armed forces and law enforcement and aren't shy about it. The restaurant is plastered with police patches all over the walls, army/navy/marines memorabilia, and an overall aura of gratitude towards the men and women who serve. My boyfriend and his friend are members of the police force and I love that they have a place like this to go to. The food itself is magical. The smell of smoky BBQ hits you immediately when you walk through, and the woman at the register welcomed us right away. Ordering was speedy - we got the pulled pork sandwich and a few sides. They have 6 barbecue sauces at each table to enhance your already delicious meal. The atmosphere is fantastic, great decor, and amazing barbecue. Will definitely be returning.

I would have never come here if it wasn't for my boyfriends love of bbq. I'm glad we did because it's a great place. We were greeted as soon as we came in the door by our cashier, Ty. I told her that it was our first time there and she was patient with us and explained the whole menu. We ended up getting a turkey sandwich and a brisket. When my name was called the guy behind the counter said thanks for coming in and he heard it was our first time. I was pretty impressed by that. He let me know that they don't have freezers or microwaves and everything is made fresh. He told me if I needed anything to let him know or let the girl working the floor to know. Our food was really great. I loved the sauces that they have. Definitely try all of them to find your favorite.

Yum. We stopped here on our way home from the beach. I had never heard of it before, 4.5 stars for bbq? We had no choice but to stop. I got a turkey sandwich, H got the pulled pork. We also got mac and cheese, baked beans and coleslaw. The mac and cheese was very good, I'm mostly a fan of homemade and I think this is as close as I've gotten when casually eating out. The coleslaw was FRESH, not soggy, not overly juicy. Very good. Turkey was perfectly cooked and juicy. The pulled pork was yum. We'll be back, I'm glad there's a location closer to home! I love that you can order in the front and have your food in minutes! If you're there at 12 noon, be prepared to stand during the national anthem. We were a little confused at first, but nice touch!

Amazing bbq! I for whatever reason wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was since this region is known more for seafood than bbq (shame on me) but I was blown away. Keep it up guys and gals! :)

This is my new go to place in MD when I'm traveling. I know Maryland is know for it's crab cakes and seafood, well you need to check this place out. The food is excellent and the atmosphere is very cool. I got the BBQ chicken sandwich, fries, and mac n cheese and was not disappointed. The portions were big enough to fill you up but not too big that you couldn't finish it. This place definitely honors our armed forces and police and firefighters as there is a ton of memorabilia on the walls and that Im a big fan of!! great food, great atmosphere that supports a great bunch of people. Great Job, I can't wait to come back!! Oh and they have a cool old fashioned sink in the dining room to wash your hands after you get all messy eating their food....Great idea!!!

Seriously my favorite BBQ place in Maryland. Meat is smoked over indirect fire with wood. No gas here thank god. Great sides and decent portions. Love that they honor military and cops. I'm a regular and I've never had a bad meal or experience there unlike red hot and blue which is an up and down at best.

One of the best "Fast Casual" restaurants in the area. (Appearance): Fit's the theme very well. Think "Man-cave" crossed with "Local Armed forces Unit's tavern". The interior just feels relaxed and cool, while respectful to those who served. Things like the Tool box used to hold straws, pepper/salt, mustard packets, cup lids, and other sauces or condiments. The walls are covered with photos, memorabilia, patches, flags, signs, and others of various Military, Fire, Police, and Coast Guard. Galvanized pipes act as door handles, and paper towel rolls at tables. (Staff): I have no complaints about the staff. The very first time my family and I ever ate there a few years ago, the manager right away asked: "Have you ever been here before?" And upon being told it was our first time, he welcomed us, and gave us the run down, pointing out their smokers and how food was made, giving suggestions. That made us return customers. the continued good service from the staff, has made every one of my experiences as a customer positive.. Selection: Well, it's a bit on the smaller side, and more "how would you like it served". Most of the meat options are available either right on the paper and tray, or as a sandwich. That said, seasonal, and even monthly specials keep things interesting. At least 6 kinds of BBQ sauces, plus several kinds of mustards, and even a vinegar allows a good variety of different tastes to the meal. Good selection of side options Drinks includes Pepsi soft drinks, Ice tea (sweetened and unsweetened), lemonade (so you can create your own half and Half/Arnold Palmer). There's also a selection of bottled sodas, with some flavors that harder to find outside of specialty soda stores,or larger grocery store/super markets for sale here if you want to try something new (Quality): Very good Fast Casual level food. There was a seasonal Rib-Eye steak with espresso rub they had earlier this year that I got, that was absolutely delicious, and had me wishing for more. Not for lack of serving size, but just because it tasted very good. The regular food is also nice Portions are nice, not too much, not too little. the XL combo (side, drink, and meal) is usually enough for me, though there is an XXL if you're really hungry (Price) Worth every penny. Price is about between 6, and 9 dollars, while combos add a few more, and ribs are bit pricier, but

Best BBQ hands down. Very friendly staff and the Georgia BBQ sauce I could drink straight from the bottle!!

This place has a lot going for it. Great atmosphere, friendly service and overall good food. Not to mention the work with the military. I got the 3 meat platter and I chose the pulled pork, brisket, and the turkey. I also ordered the Mac n cheese and a sweet tea. My fiancé got a pulled pork sandwich, potato salad and corn. Everything was good. I enjoyed mixing and matching the 6 flavors of BBQ sauce. The meat was tender and the sides were definitely above average. A pet peeve of mine is when the sides don't measure up to the main course. Good sweet tea, which is also hard to find. This place seems like it takes pride in everything it does, and you can tell. It doesn't get 5 stars because it may not be the best BBQ I have ever had. But it's darn good.

Mission BBQ has been around since '11, with its first location out in Glen Burnie. They have many locations in FL, MD, NC, PA, and in VA. The menu was pretty extensive, as they offer brisket, pulled pork, turkey, pulled chicken, sausages (jalapeno & cheese or the Classic #41 (slightly spicy)), ribs, sandwiches, salads, sides (mac n cheese, baked beans with brisket, green beans & bacon, cold slaw, fries, and seasonal items), combos, and kids menus. We tried the Market Sampler, where you can opt for 2 or 3 meats - we opted for the 3-meat sampler with brisket (Texas-inspired and oak-smoked; this was pretty okay, but I wished it had more flavor to it), pulled pork (slow-smoked and hand-pulled; this was actually pretty okay as it was juicy), and the Classic #41 sausages (slightly salty with a slight subtle spiciness to it, these were forgettable). We also tried their special, a Smoked Ribeye, which had a combination of dark-roasted espresso beans, salt, pepper, and garlic (more on the peppery side) - this was actually pretty tasty, but it was cooked of rare temperature and had too many sinews that made it difficult to cut (no steak knife available, but plasticware (!)). The cornbread that came with the meats was on the dry end, so that was forgettable. 6 types of sauces were available: KC Classic, Bay-B-Que, Tupelo Honey Heat, Texas Twang, Smoky Mountain, and Memphis Belle. My favorite out of the 6 was the Smoky Mountain, as it had a nice thick sweetness to it with a hint of smokiness - it was pretty good with the meats. Katelyn, the cashier, was very sweet and made some suggestions when she found out it was our first time; Cheyenne, who I believe was one of the managers, was going around and making sure that everything was good - she was very friendly and sweet, and I thought her checking up on us again at the end of the meal was pretty awesome :D Their lemonade and sweet tea combo was refreshing and delicious, so I highly recommend in trying out that drink. I loved the large wooden booths and the friendly staff - I'd love to come back and try out their sides, especially their seasonal items, as well as their other meats. +'Smoky Mountain' sauce +Smoked Ribeye (request your certain temperature; bring your own steak knife) :P +Sweet Tea & Lemonade mixture +friendly staff (ask for Katelyn and Cheyenne!) :D

These guys got it right. Soon as you walk in the door you are greeted with the aroma of smoked meats and a friendly HELLO from a host of people waiting to take your order. The food is priced reasonably and is absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is awesome with a lot going on for the serviceman that are local and abroad. These guys give back, and what goes around comes around. Wish them the best in ALL they do. See you again soon.

This... is my go to BBQ joint for now. Not only can I order a beer, but the pulled pork sandwich is something that I can eat days on end. Not really sure what else to say other than the service that you will get at this place is exceptional. Special Tip... there are useable sinks in the eating area (they arent just for show)... you don't have to go to the bathroom to just wash your hands...

Without a doubt the best BBQ I've had in a while. Great service and awesome atmosphere. Waitresses brought our table a free plate of fries and brownies. Do yourself a favor and try this place out. Support those who support our American Heroes!

Big Salute to all our Veterans and the fine men and women that work at Mission BBQ!!! In Maryland for work and looking for some good food we found it at Mission. The atmosphere and decor is a salute to all veterans and there is no doubt even before you walk through the door what this establishment stands for. Very clean, upbeat customer focused and more importantly Veteran focused staff. The decor is like a tiny museum that salutes all branches of the military, Coast Guard and first responders. The main "Mission" here is to assist the Wounded Warrior Project so you really can't go wrong. The BBQ...I had a 2 meat plate of pulled pork and brisket, corn bread and Mac-n-cheese. All complimented with plenty of variety of BBQ sauces. To me the brisket separated itself from everything else. Great taste and consistency. Didn't even need a sauce. Great meal, great people, great cause!!!! Do yourself and a Wounded Warrior a favor and make it your Mission to try this place out!!!

Came here hungry, left hungry. Portions were a bit small. There was no real marked out place where the line to order starts. So was just kinda standing around awkwardly for a bit while trying to read the menu from afar. Ordered a pulled pork sandwich and Mac and cheese. My partner got the same but with coleslaw. Too much bread to meat ratio. And the meat was so terribly dry. There wasn't an NC style sauce to match the NC style pulled pork. There was NC vinegar but that isn't the same or really accurate. I'm from the Carolinas and we like mustard based sauce. But yea, I had to keep putting bbq sauce on every bite to try and combat the dry meat. I wasn't really successful. The Mac and cheese was pretty good, though. I also enjoyed making my own half and half, which is always good, but that is not enough to make return visit. The coleslaw lacked flavor, it could've used a bit more mayonnaise if anything. I was so disappointed with my visit. I was really hoping it would be good, but nope.

I'd agree with most of the negative reviews that highlight the the following key points: -inconsistent meat quality and portion -sides are drenched in sauce and or excessive cream. -hate feeling guilty every time I'm asked to buy a 'Wounded Warrior' cup and say no (seriously, just stop this already if you haven't Mission BBQ...I give to WW a yearly donation OK!) Nearly all of their pork products deserve a special mention of how sub-par they are. In particular the ribs as this place actually ruins them. And old bay on ribs is just retarded, I mean seriously I don't want this spice on every damn thing! And the pulled pork can be as dried out as a shoe at times. It has too much of a manufactured feel for a BBQ joint as well. Almost a military-industrial atmosphere that presents a facade of perfect clockwork execution yet actually fails at this. For a chain, I'd rather go to Red Hot and Blue as I simply get the whole style and feel (and actually prefer their BBQ). A few accolades though: -used them once for catering and it worked well -brisket, if they give you good cuts, is quite good. -kinda like the excessive beverage selection thing -decent sauce selections that are made to compliment almost any type of meat they serve Still not enough to keep me coming back to this rather awkward BBQ chain with military fetish. They need to get the basics right. I'd rather feel relaxed and relatively pleased with 'chain' BBQ at RHB or even Famous Daves.

This place was really good, foodwise and servicewise. Service-wise, cool! They walk around and randomly give you free fries. However, the strange bathroom decor is something I could do without. The men's room is filled with half-naked women... And the women's room is filled with soldiers kissing women. At least give them half-naked men (maybe from some firemen calendars or something?). Overall, it seems a good bit sexist and just kinda dumb and out of place. BUT, since the food is pretty good and the service is great, 3 stars is fair.

Visited Mission for the first time based on a recommendation. St. Louis style rib meat fell off the bone, sausage was tasty as was the Pulled Pork Sandwich & they have Resurrection cans for a $1.00... Did I mention the Brisket (we got the "not lean" version) was amazing? Service was exceptional! What more can I say?! Maybe it was due to the holidays but if you go on a Saturday night go before 6 as they were sold out of ribs by 6:30! We will be returning.

Friendly, attentive, and great barbecue. Everyone should buy the largest drink option which provides $2 to the Wounded Warrior Project for each cup sold. Creative BBQ sauces for various regions and available at each table add to the great food. The smoked corn on the cob is excellent!

Really great Texas-style barbecue. Not the greatest I've ever had, but still really good for taste, texture, quality and quantity. I ordered the Tennessee Tower, which arrived as a sandwich. Barbecued sliced turkey, fries, pickles and then cole slaw on top. It's obvious that you're supposed to pick it up and eat it, but you'll want to grab a fork as it does collapse. Watch your shirt! Sweet tea is VERY sweet, but cut with some "northern tea" and a squirt of lemonade (can you say "Arnold Palmer?"), it was perfect. We were there at lunch, so I was surprised at the noon mark when they asked everyone to stand for the national anthem. Very cool. They are very big on veterans and supporting troops, including a marked off parking space for wounded warriors. Nice!

This place can do no wrong. I have been visiting Mission BBQ regularly since the month it opened. Time and time again, consistantly, they provided a great meal at a decent value. Try the Old Bay ribs. They are fantastic.

This is the best place around. We are new parents with a 10 month old. We like to find places like this, where we can sit down and eat but without the formality of a server. This place is perfect. The food is excellent, the sweet tea is never stale, and the corn bread isn't on the menu but it tastes great. They are super kid friendly, even bringing my daughter a new piece of cornbread when they saw she dropped the piece she had. Secret - the St Louis and Alabama white bbq sauces are my favorites, but they aren't on the table. They sit on top of the craftsman box where they keep the straws.

I absolutely love this place it fun and food is really good. Staff and service are wonderful. I really like how they are geared to support troups and community. Good job. Don't grow too fast and mess up a good thing. It happens all the time. Don't do it. Stay the way u are

Definitely a solid bbq place in the area. We stopped here on our way to a meeting and had some pretty good bbq. I got the brisket and ribs with a couple sides. It wasn't the best bbq I've ever had but definitely the best in the area. The restaurant has some cool decour and great laid back vibe.

I consider myself to be an experienced BBQ consumer expert. Growing up in the South meant delicious, slow cooked bbq at least once a week...not including tailgate Saturdays. When traveling we always check Yelp for the best local BBQ restaurants in town. We tried Mission today while doing research for a caterer for an upcoming party we are hosting. Wow! I was blown away! (Didn't think I could be swayed from Andy Nelson's) Loved the ambiance at the restaurant. There were many soldiers in their fatigues dining which makes supporting this restaurant whose charitable focus is on supporting them that much more rewarding. We devoured sliced brisket, pulled pork, spare ribs, Mac 'n cheese, green beans, cole slaw and corn bread. Every bite was flavorful and tender. Not a crumb left on our plates. The variety of sauces is impressive. Take the time to find your favorite. Looking forward to having y'all cater this weekend! A big plus... My husband discovered Mission BBQ after they brought free lunch for everyone to try at his company. Now that is good marketing! They have catered events for him which have only received rave reviews from hundreds of employees. They stand behind their food. You will not be disappointed!

So I am going to edit my review due to the fact every time I've been in since the last review the always usually a girl at the front cashier line is never very friendly. This time a tall brunette w loads of eye make up. She was snooty and didn't make us feel too welcomed. Not sure what's going on there as last time we had another girl who was snooty. I know it's not me because everyone else we spoke to (spoke to us) was ON POINT Mission bbq friendly. What's going on here with the front line ?! Service is exceptional, I've tried most items on menu and all have been great. atmosphere is very welcoming and patriotic. A great place for families and friends. Cold beers are available and outside seating. Chicken is great- a (tiny) bit greasy but it's all good. My favorite on the menu. Coleslaw is great as well.

Three friends and I stopped by for a quick lunch before catching a bus home. Walking in, the decor is country with a nice mix of classic rock and country music playing and a plethora of commemorative gear, pictures and stickers dedicated to the armed forces. We walked up to the counter and ordered our food. The prices are reasonable and free refills are always great! We sat at a table and waited thinking they would call us to grab our trays. Instead, they were brought to us by two very polite gentlemen who introduced themselves, gave us our food, asked if we needed anything and then told us to call them if they needed anything. Food was good and by the end, we were comfortably full and enjoying trying the different bbq sauces on the table. Overall, it was an amazing experience and I would definitely go back!

This place has done no wrong in my book. EVER. The meats are juicy and delicious. Prices are so reasonable. Fries taste just like Thrashers from OC. They have all these Military programs and such. And OMG! The Bay B Q Sauce is to die for. AMAZING! Go here now, you wont regret it.

I visited this place 2 times and both left me wondering I went back again. The people that work there are super friendly and the BBQ sauce selection was awesome. The food and pricing were not so awesome. My order was like $15 bucks for just me with a drink and 2 sides and I left still hungry. The meat was average at best. It's a cool place to try once but I was so hyped up because people said it was so great and I am not a fan. Sorry guys!

  • Stacey G.

Hits: BayBQue sauce, crispy fries, food was ready quickly, cool looking joint. Misses: meats aren't sauced and I like my meat to have time to soak up the flavors. Baby back ribs were quality but overdone. Menu is so simply written that it doesn't say enough about the food. Not nearly enough cole slaw on the pulled pork sandwich. I wasn't keen on the cafeteria/mess hall style but it worked. Their customer service was good, but I'm perplexed by the roaming server. What could she do for me? But a nice touch anyway. For me it's the place you go when you're bored with your regular choices and maybe a good lunch takeout but not a regular choice for BBQ.

Great food! The kids and I love the turkey. My husband loves the pulled pork and brisket. The sides are delicious - especially the Mac and cheese. Great variety of bbq sauces (which they'll give a sampler of if you do carry out and are indecisive or have a bad memory like me). What brings me back though is the love and compassion they show for our troops. Whether someone is a 90 year old vet from WWII or an 18 year old who just enlisted - the respect and admiration brings a tear to my eye. They've got a great thing going.

I love this place. I have eaten various items on the menu and have never found something that i didn't love. The brisket, pulled pork, chicken, and the turkey are all top notch meats. You can order them as a sandwich or as a standalone meal. I typically get a meat entree with 2 sides. The cornbread, mac and cheese, green beans are all delicious. The food is so good here it is hard to choose. For drinks, they have several beer options - some being locally brewed beers. After you get your meal, you can choose from 6+ sauces that further add to the flavor of you meal. The workers are so welcoming and willing to answer any questions you may have. When I sat down, a worker came up and introduced herself immediately which is something I always appreciate. On 2 separate occassions, a worker walked around and gave tables samples of a meat that we haven't tried yet and another time, we were given free fries which is fantastic! The overall decor makes you feel proud to eat there. Lots of memorabilia to look at. I always leave satisfied and happy. Sign up online for their mailing list so that on your birthday, you can get a free sandwich!

I am really impressed with this place. I didn't have high expectations at all. I went for the first time in fall of 2014 & have been back twice. The food is really well done, the restaurant is clean, and service is always pleasant. Nice prices too. I can even put up with the over the top decor - and that is saying something.

Came here for dinner tonight and LOVED it! I've been on a real southern/BBQ kick lately and this was just another new place to try. We definitely weren't disappointed. The restaurant is a lot bigger than I expected, but was pretty crowded when we came tonight. The line moved quickly, our cashier was incredibly friendly, and our food was ready pretty quick. We each got the 2 meat sampler, mine with brisket and turkey, and my husband's with brisket and pulled pork. The brisket comes either lean (less fat) or moist (lots of fat). I opted for lean, and it was a bit dry, and my husband's moist brisket was a little fatty but looked better. The turkey was really good. I didn't try the pulled pork but it looked up to par with everything else. For sides we got mac and cheese, cole slaw, and fries. The mac and cheese was good, standard cheddar cheese taste, perfectly creamy. I didn't try the cole slaw but it looked fresh and not drenched in cole slaw dressing. The fries were really good. The meals also came with cornbread, which had good flavor but was a bit dry. Each table has 6 different things of BBQ sauce and a bottle of vinegar. The Smokey Mountain, Bay-B-Que, and Memphis Belle were my favorites (mostly the sweet/strong, non-vinegary sauces). There's also a shelf with ketchup, salt, pepper, Old Bay, and then Georgia Mustard and Bama White sauce (whatever this is was delicious on both fries and the turkey). If it was a little closer I think we'd eat here pretty often.

I would go out of my way to go back, and you should too. Tender brisket, moist cornbread, crisp coleslaw, mellow unsweet and not-too sweet tea, smoked turkey, and EIGHT homemade sauces (six red on the table, yellow & white by the straws). If it weren't an hour away, I would live here.

Hands down the best turkey I have ever had! Been going here since they opened and is a must stop for whenever I am in the area. Their collection of BBQ sauces are made fresh daily and range from every part of the country that knows how to BBQ. I am partial to the Bay BQ sauce.

I moved to baltimore from TX in 1999, an let me say... This place is amazing!!! Nothing in the area comes close. I walked up to the cashier and said I have never been here, she took time to explain menu to me. She even took time to check pricing to see what would be the cheapest way to get what I wanted. I got almost one of everything. Then off to the BBQ line, the gentleman took time to explain the meats and sauces to me... He packed a sample of the sauces for me. And when I got home... I wish I would have eaten there, I wanted seconds. Amazing place and amazing people!

Amazing! This place just had their grand opening on Monday, yet the way everything flowed made it seem like they had been open for ages. This is the second Mission BBQ to open, there is another located in Glen Burnie MD which opened 10 years to the date of 9/11. Not only do half of the daily proceeds from the restaurant get donated to the Wounded Warrior Project but Mission BBQ also supports veterans and military personnel on the reg with their awesome decor. They even had a Maverick poster, for all my fellow Top Gun fans out there! The food was surprisingly on point. When I initially made the decision to eat here, I expected a place like Famous Dave's (a sit down BBQ restaurant with waiters) however, Mission BBQ is similar to that of a Panera or Qdoba. You walk in, order at the counter and wait for your number to be called to pick up your food. The prices are a little bit more on the expensive side for being considered a "fast-food" BBQ joint, but just think of it as... half of what you are paying goes to our soldiers :) I ordered the turkey with a side of sweet potato mash, which also came with cornbread. The cornbread had good flavor, the turkey literally fell apart (so tender) and the sweet potato mash was sweet and savory, but not too sweet. Others that went to eat with me had the pulled pork and brisket, which was also very tender and juicy. The meat is the highlight of this place, so if you're looking for good/lean BBQ - this is the place to be. Not to mention you have six different sauces to choose from, ranging from sweet to spicy. One of them even had an old bay flavor.. that's when you know you're in Baltimore, hon! Mission BBQ was featured in the weekly newsletter. Check it out: yelp.com/weekly?editoria… ANOTHER SIDE NOTE: The manager has confirmed that they are opening another location in the Canton (Baltimore City) shopping center, that is currently under construction. Keep your eyes peeled!

I was in with my family on Valentine's night. We love Mission BBQ! The service is great, the people who work there are very friendly and accommodating. The food was amazing as always! my favorites are the yard bird and the pulled pork. We also love the coupons we receive via email.

I've reviewed quite a few BBQ joints, and mission BBQ didn't blow me away. I'd say they're right down the middle. The meat, while tender didn't leave me feeling wow'd, the sides were just ok. I had to send back my green beans and bacon which was admitted to me was a frozen side, which was replaced with mac and cheese (which tasted frozen too, my husband ate it, I stole his beans which were fantastic). Fries are cut fresh which is nice, and the caramel apple side was good, but not knock your socks off. Everyone was extremely friendly, and it was impeccably clean. As a matter of fact, my husband was wearing his fire company t shirt and they thanked him for his service, which was kind of nice. What was the best part about Mission, however? The sauces. Which is interesting because in any good BBQ place, you want your meat to stand out and the sauce to bring highlight, not cover up the taste of the meat. (Which is why I don't trust Longhorn Steakhouse, why are you smothering your steak? Is there something you don't want me to taste?) If I could buy those sauces I would. As it is, I'm not lining up to come back. But it wasn't the worst BBQ experience of my life. (See Bakers Pit Beef review).

LOVE!!! And any place that supports the troops is amazing! I always get their pulled pork. It's my favorite. I always experiment with their different sauces. I also placed an order for takeout before and the staff was on top of it! Covering everything from utensils, to napkins, to asking which BBQ sauce they could pack up for me. FYI...they have a secret BBQ sauce that is not found on the table. You actually have to ask them behind the counter for it! It's spicy!! Added bonus, buy one of the plastic cups and bring it back in next time you are there for a drink!

When I first decided to go to mission BBQ I kept my expectations low. I thought there is no way fast casual and good BBQ can go together when places like noodles and company can barely get it right, sometimes the quality of food or customer service suffers in this set up, but not with mission BBQ they are all aces in every aspect of this review. Upon entering we had the most friendly register girl taking our order. She was patient, made great conversation, taught us all the ins and outs about ordering and even made suggestions that she was on the money about. She said she started working there because the food was addictive and boy was she right. After ordering which only took a few minutes all we had to do was blink and our food was waiting for us just a few feet down the long counter. If you get the sliced brisket like I did you can even opt for extra learn or some fat on your beef. I don't know any BBQ joint with that option. A heaping amount of sliced brisket charred to perfection on the outside with two small sides, a drink, and a piece of cornbread will cost you less than $13 a bargain and yet top quality taste! Sadly my friend spilled all her food by accident once we got to the self help drink station. Customer service to the rescue, one f the guys in charge felt horrible and replaced all her food for FREE! We were not expecting that. Not to mention the same guy kept checking our table to see if everything was ok and offered to fill our drinks for us even though he didn't have to. The sauces are a great compliment to the meat. I loved the smokey sauce! The creamed corn and Mac and cheese are the star side dishes. The corn is thick rich and sweet the Mac and cheese is saucy and not mushy with a crispy top. Upon leaving both the manager and register girl told us goodbye, the register girl even remembered our names! We will definitely be back soon! Customer service A+++ Food A+++ Price A+++ One of the top places I highly recommend if you want great BBQ without the big price tag and without sacrificing quality or service

This is the best turkey I have ever had. Didn't require sauce or anything. Moist and thick with succulent flavor. I also enjoyed the wet brisket. So tender and juicy. Green beans were as good as any I've had. Mac n cheese was on point and so was the sweet tea. I also love that they have a variety of sauces from different regions. Plus they let you sample whatever you like. Friendly staff made me feel like I was further south instead of the usual Baltimore area attitude. I will become a regular.

Food was delicious. We had the pulled pork and brisket for meat. Sides we had the baked beans, fries and mac&cheese. All were good. The restaurant definitely wasn't what we expected from the outside. We're from out of state and from the outside we thought we were walking into a sit down rather than counter service(not that this was a problem). The decorations and theming of the restaurant were great. It was clean, the staff was friendly and patient while we tried to understand ordering and sides and all that fun stuff. Prices seemed fair, portions were huge. We had food to take with us when we left. Loved having all the different choices of BBQ sauce to pick from! My only complaint is there wasn't really much or anything to get if you don't want meat, meat and more meat. Overall, we had a great experience and will probably be back next time we're in the area!

Went here tonight for the first time ever. I gotta say, I liked it :) Soon as you enter the restaurant you feel welcome. It's very clean, neat, and classic americana. Classic BBQ! You order your food before you sit down. You can expect to get fast service here. It's a standard BBQ menu. Pork, Turkey, chicken, and sometimes Ribeye steak. They offer Fresh Cut Fries, beans, corn, macaroni n cheese, and all the usual sides. They also offer beer! Mostly hometown beers :) I thought that was really cool. They also offer a souvenir cup that(if purchased)will donate proceeds to The Wounded Warrior Fund. Before I even eat I'm happy to see that this place cares about the community and our soldiers. Now to the food. I ordered a brisket sandwich and fries. While waiting I was asked if I had been there before. I said "no". He introduced himself and his staff. Then gave me a description of how the food is prepared and a bit about the cooking process. I felt like Mission really cared about my dining experience. He also thanked me for purchasing the cup. The food was very good! The fries were better than you may expect and the brisket was cut perfect. You can order your brisket a couple ways. I went with lean. I tried every sauce they had on the table. Really liked the smoky. They also have a craftsman tool box filled with condiments and more sauces. The hidden gem in this place is a sauce called Alabama White. Wow! It's very, very good! I can't explain it, you just have to try it. The only downside to this place is a few nitpick things. The sauces aren't bad, but I prefer Famous Dave's sauce selection. Mainly because the lack of a spicy BBQ sauce and I felt some sauces were a little on the sweet side. The second thing is the temperature of the food. I really wish it could have been Hot! Not everybody is like me, I personally like my food hot. The third thing that I would improve on is the tips. I left a couple bucks on the table for whoever cleaned up our mess. I know this isn't expected or required, but I like to tip people that provide good service. The service was so good I really felt they should get a tip. My point is, the tables are taken so quickly that you really have a small window to give out that tip. I am gonna try them again in a couple weeks. I hope to give them a 5 star rating. Try this place, you will definitely like it :) Great Job Mission BBQ!

The food is amazing and comes out quickly, the price is reasonable, and the staff is incredibly friendly. I don't eat meat for every meal, but since I discovered Mission BBQ, every time I do eat meat at a restaurant, if I'm not doing it at Mission BBQ, I have regretted the decision. I am not exaggerating when I say this. If this franchise doesn't expand across the country, I will be surprised. It is superlative.

Be prepared to stand for the National Anthem at 12Noon- which I think is pretty loyal and amazing... The BBQ is pretty good... Very nice selection of various types of sauces to choose from. Portions are plentiful... I'll be back...

Had the NC pulled pork sandwich, brisket, and one bayB rib. It was all really good! But the rib was the best really tender. They have a wide range of BBQ sauces all pretty good. The decor is cool and pleasant for a diner style, though bit noisy inside, but they have outdoor sitting. Service was Super quick and they came outside often to check on us. Oh and awesome country music if you like it!

Real BBQ is about the meat, not the sauce. The meats at Mission BBQ are great examples of several regional BBQ styles mainly Texas and North Carolina. And while the sauces I sampled were all very good, you could eat the brisket without any sauce and enjoy it all the same with just the flavor of the meat and the smoke. I'm a Texas Ex-Pat BBQ snob who has been known to drive hundreds of miles to eat at the famous BBQ joints around that great state. I drove to Perry Hall to try the cue because the Mission BBQ website had a picture of these guys in front of Cooper's BBQ in Llano, TX and Louie Mueller's In Taylor, TX-- two of my favorite places in the state. After sampling Mission BBQ's cue, I'd drive to Perry Hall again to eat there. The brisket has that telltale thick pink ring that all proper Texas BBQ should have. Only had a taste of the pork, but that had an authentic North Carolina flavor to it. Sides were tasty. And served on brown paper as God meant BBQ to be served on. A sink to wash the sauce off your fingers is right in the main dining room. The joint has a unusual public service theme honoring first responders, cops, firefighters and armed forces. They play the national anthem everyday at noon and patrons all stand and place their hands over their hearts as it plays. This place should be famous among local BBQ fanatics. Come now before everybody finds out about this place the lines get too long.

Love this place. I've been here about half a dozen times now. I love it, my friends love it & my wife and kids love it. The food is delicious and their selection of BBQ sauces is amazing. The military theme puts you in a very patriotic frame of mind as well. Every day at noon, all the action stops and everyone stands for the National Anthem! A superb, casual dining experience.

There really is not that much good BBQ in the Baltimore area. At least not close to me, until now. This place is great. I love the decor, the set up is perfect. Order, grab a seat, and pick up when it's ready. I had the BBQ brisket. Very tasty. My boyfriend had the regular brisket and it, too, was very good. I like the assortment of BBQ sauces you can pick from. The coleslaw and mac and cheese were also right on the money. While we were there, the staff was giving out free samples of brownies. A tasty treat, I would definitely buy one - that is if I ever have room after the really nice sized portions of meat you get. I'll be back, and I'm so glad to have good BBQ nearby!

Great place for takeout (I have not eaten in so I am not able to judge their dining experience) We have ordered both styles of ribs, pulled pork and the lean brisket. We have tried the coleslaw, beans, and French fries as sides. I would get all three meats again depending on my mood. I would probably not get the sides again just because they can be a little heavy and the meat alone is already a lot of food. I was really impressed by the quantity of sauce they give you for take out. They were also really nice the first time I went and didn't know what sauce to get. They gave me 3 of all the sauces so I could try them all! That is great service. I will get take out from here again and soon!

OK. I've been using Yelp lately to flame businesses. So it's time to remember what time of year it is and try to be positive. This brings me to Mission BBQ. I'm going to start this review by saying...I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this place. Nothing at all. The service, the food, the decor are all outstanding. They once forgot to include a side order in my carry-out and give me a free entree the next time I came in...which was only 2 days later. This place rocks. I have tasted almost everything on the menu, so I consider myself a half-assed expert (spot the Duchess badge for confirmation), so I know of what I speak. The brisket is to die for. I don't do lean. Moist brisket always. And I love watching them prepare it. Gingerly removing it from the smoker and tearing off all of the fat....look, I could day dream about this for hours. It's that good. I've had both the baby back ribs and the spare ribs, and I prefer the spare ribs. I think it's the cumin in the rub that draws me to the spare rib. The pulled pork, my husband says, is great..but I'm not a fan of anyone's pulled pork, so I haven't yet tried it. The chicken is great and moist, as is the turkey, and I haven't tried the sausage. The prime rib is really good, but I've had a problem with consistency (rare-well done). The sides - they walk around and offer french fries for free (at least the last 3 times we dined in), so try to not waste your side! The fries are good, btw. Like 5 guys, but better. The creamed corn is excellent. The greens with bacon are great (they're with bacon, how could they not?!) BUT they have a tendency to be over cooked...still taste good though. The mac is good, but I hate that they add bread crumbs to it, so I ask for it without. The cole slaw is good, but I have yet to try the baked beans, so I can not report. If you're a sweet fan like I am, take comfort...they have real southern sweet tea and leamonade. They also have specialty sodas sitting in ice just in the door. I've never seen some of the brands of soda they have. The decor is kinda like Rudy's...not in color scheme, but in concept. You can watch them preparing your food. The decor's upscale repurposed things (ie, the tool box as condiment drawer) that makes it fun. I wouldn't say you'd feel comfortable in a ball gown here, but if you're dressed a little snazzy, you wouldn't feel out of place...except for the fact that this is BBQ and you're not supposed to dress cute for BBQ. So in other words, it's no where near a dive. Service is top notch. I've already given an example, but they also do things like greet you as you walk through the door...I've yet to encounter someone rude or incompetent. This is by far the best addition to this area. You will not regret it.

Big ups to this place for supporting the Wounded Warrior Project. The decor is fun, the tables are perfect for a BBQ joint. Gotta love wood benches and picnic tables. The sweet tea is mighty fine and I dig the Mac & Cheese. Tender brisket and yummy pulled pork. The sauce options are plentiful. Two meals, three sides, and two drinks for about $23 including tax is pretty decent for a BBQ joint. I'm a fan.

Not only does Mission have excellent food, but also the best customer service you could ask for at a restaurant. As soon as you walk in, you're immediately greeted by half of the staff. After the order has been placed, anyone you talk to makes you feel like they actually care you are there. Then once you're seated and eating, there are staff members walking around asking you if you need anything or just to ask how awesome your food is. Customer service doesn't get any better than this!

BBQ comes to Perry Hall! My wife and I moved here 7 years ago, and one of the things I've missed is great BBQ -- in particular, a NC pulled pork sandwich. When I saw this location being built, I tried not to get too excited, in case they didn't deliver -- but those fears were unfounded! The NC pulled pork was tender, moist, with no gristle. Just delicious BBQ and 6 different sauces to suit different tastes. I'm also a little picky when it comes to sauces, but the Mission crew does it right! There are sauces inspired from different BBQ capitals of our great nation, all in one hopper on each table. Great!! The fries were hot, crisp, and delicious -- a must for a great BBQ establishment. I also like the business' respect for our country and those in the service. I will definitely be back!

First time at Mission BBQ. My coworkers have been raving about this spot for some time, so I was hoping to not be disappointed tonight...and that I was not!!! From you walk in the door, they've got a friendly greeting for you. I chose the pulled pork and fries. Got my tutorial on the sauces and headed off to my table. 'Twas yummy!!! I like my sauce with a kick to it, so the Tupelo Honey Heat was right up my alley with each bite of pork. The NC Vinegar went perfectly over my fries. The cornbread had chunks of corn in it which pop as with each bite. All that could have made that taste yummier would be diced jalapeños! It was all great...wish I could have finished it there, but I got to take the balance of the meal home with me so I can be a savage in private! ;) They even prepare little cups of sauce for take out orders so I got some Tupelo and vinegar cups to go home and have a private moment with! I'll be back Mission! I'll be back!!

What a great gem - this BBQ joint is absolutely no joke. The restaurant is premised around traditional American values through embracing patriotism and great food. From the American flags throughout the restaurant to pausing service to sing the national anthem everyday at noon - this place gets it. As you walk in you will notice the tin accents throughout the restaurant with dark wood booths and benches. The condensed menu is displayed on almost like a butcher's board in a big bold font. Menu items include brisket in several ways, juicy pulled pork, turkey, sausage and ribs. Some items are available in sandwich form as well, which is great for take out! So far I have sampled both the brisket sandwich and pulled pork sandwich. The brisket is available in a leaner or fatty style. The cashier told me she thought the fatty style brisket was the way to go - for that recommendation I am thankful. The brisket has great seasoning and is fall apart juicy and succulently delicious. Put some of the old bay bbq sauce or KC original and you have one hell of a sandwich. The pulled pork was also very delicious but not as good as the brisket. The pork had nice seasoning and aroma which allows the pork flavor to be the star. Unlike most traditional bbq places that serve crappy white bread with every, Mission BBQ is different. They serve buttery style hamburger rolls which hold up well to the juicy meats. The sides for the most part are nothing special, but are a nice contrast to the many carnivorous entrees. I short, do yourself a favor and just dine at one of their two locations. The employees are always amazingly friendly and are happy to suggest menu items or help you pick a sauce. You will be hard pressed to not fall in love with this place instantly.

Visiting the Baltimore area and decided to check out this highly rated bbq joint. Read about the restaurant & its mission on their website. The support military & first responder theme was prevalent from the moment we arrived. The decor, wall to wall supports the theme as well as a $2 request donation at the register. We arrived at 11:55 a.m. and quickly learned of the noon tradition of playing the Star Spangled Banner with an American flag video on a TV monitor. All guests stand and pay tribute. The service is pay at the register & have a seat. We were brought our food within 10 minutes. The smoke sausage was excellent and the turkey was very tender. The mac & cheese also was outstanding. The fresh cut fries were not hot and didn't live up to our order takers description. My wife's chopped brisket sandwich was good but not great. None of the six bbq sauces at the table were a home run for me. All in all a nice place with a theme that clearly has passion behind it. When it came to the bbq food, it was good but we've had better.

I've been to the Glen Burnie branch many times but decided to try the Nottingham branch to see how it compared. I was also curious about the 4.5 Stars in 108 reviews. I am now enlightened! The Food and Service was outstanding! Over the top all the way from the Lunchtime Star Spangled Banner to the free Freedom Fries!

its a little more expensive (~15$ for a 2 meat platter with two sides and a drink) than the typical fast casual type places (qdoba, panera, etc.) but the quality of the food, ethics of the company, and great service make it worth the money. the food is always fresh and the employees serve your food with a smile plus the food is really filling.

Good quick BBQ! The customer service is excellent as well. If you get the pulled pork entree you get more meat and corn bread for the same price as the sandwich which gives u less meat and just a sandwich roll without cornbread. All the extra sides are delicious as well! Plus they support wounded warriors project and the armed forces!

Second time around was not as good. We had signed up for their email to get a free meal on our birthdays and neither of us received the email. We did mention that and were told that it takes awhile to process (I don't see how this is possibly when they were sending me emails about their special sauces). One manager gave us coupons for free sandwiches but that wasn't the same as what we were promised. Sandwiches (brisket and pulled pork) were mediocre this time around. Would rather go to Flameworks.

Came in from out of town [live in a bad BBQ area - lobster and Sweet Baby Ray's don't mix, IME] so I thought I'd try some "cue", as the locals say. Walked in and noted that there was a self-service ice chest of beers - took note as I ordered my meal. All six of their sauces "on tap" were absolutely delicious, each complemented their tender brisket and ribs, which get a knock for being somewhat dry. Sides were decent as well. Wish I could have finished my meal but only got a couple of bites in [was caught squirting bottles of sauce directly into my mouth - frowned upon "FYI"] for trying to enjoy an extra 10-12 beers that I THOUGHT were SELF-SERVE! In this humble eater's opinion, it's just like Burger King - if I pay for a bottle, I should be able to get refills, and "gratis". Great food otherwise, would go again - "lesson learned" as they say!

I love the fact that Mission BBQ is proud to be American. So am I, or at least I was before our Great Destroyer came into power. But still, there's something about walking into a restaurant and feeling overwhelmed by patriotic signs, pictures of firemen, police officers and army personnel that gets me in a positive mood. That's one of the reasons why I like coming here. Plus the staff at both locations are always friendly and seem like they genuinely enjoy working at Mission. The BIG problem with Mission BBQ (in my eyes) is that the consistency is terrible. Sometimes I'll get great brisket, other times not so much. Sometimes I'll get hot, awesome fries... other times a soggy, greasy mess. Sometimes I'll get a hot heaping of Turkey to drown my sorrows in, other times a few pathetic slices that looked like they came from a bird that died years ago. It really seems like the quality of your meal at Mission is dependent upon the mood of the guys who are actually making your plate. Will they be kind to you today and give you generous portions of your favorite delicious meats or will they cut you short and give you sad cuts? Its truly a gamble. My other issue with Mission is that the place offers nothing remotely healthy to eat. Every side dish is like another 3,000 calories on top of your already fatty meats. And none of them are that good. At least offer steamed broccoli or a baked potato! Something that's not deep friend or covered in cream would be a relief to my belt buckle and the millions of other obese Americans out there. In short, MISSION BBS HAS PORTION ISSUES and I don't like that at all. This isn't exactly super cheap food. For $9 I want a nice portion of my meats. That's all. If I don't get the same portion or quality of food what's the point in returning as a customer? Call me spoiled but I put Mission BBQ on a highly pedestal and I expect it to rock n' roll every time. Not just rock sometimes and be crappy on other occasions. Doubtful I'll be back, at least not to this location.

God I wish one of these was around me... check that, I don't wish that or else I'd be a fat tub. Not really anything not to like here... food is very very good (I hesitate to use great), place itself is interesting and comfortable, service was great, they have beer(!), prices were ok (but not great) and they came around with free Freedom Fries. Plus they donate a portion of proceeds to charity... awesome place... they need to switch from Pepsi to Coke (ok I found one thing!) and maybe look at reducing prices slightly but it's DEFINITELY worth a stop if you are a bbq fan.

Ate here twice now, and was disappointed again. First time was carryout and on all three orders, they forgot the sides. The second time the brisket was ridiculously dry, and as an entree, they gave me 4 slices the size of my thumb....not ok. The ribs are passable, the pulled pork was decent, but came out cold, and the jalapeño and cheese sausage was good, but needs more bite. Oh the sides once we got them were also ok. Tried the green beans, Mac and cheese was nice. I had a better experience at Famous Dave's which surprised me. ***one year later after a few more times eating here, the restaurant has hit its stride. The food has not changed in flavor as much, but I now rarely gotten a dry piece of meat and the serving size feels correct. The sides have improved as well and everything comes out at the correct temperature. The black plate special is usually a pleasant surprise and adds a bit of variety. The service is probably the biggest improvement, hostess roam the dinning area and ensure that you have a great experience. I mentioned that I preferred a particular side and found out that it wasn't coming back until next week, yet ten min later, the hostess came over with a "sneak peak."

So I see most people do not know good BBQ. What a shame. This place is a joke when it comes to BBQ. The food is just plain up dry and bland. No flavor at all. Sides are some of the worst sides I have had from a restaurant. I got food catered and most of the food was still left because of the dry horrible taste. If you have a taste for BBQ do not expect something amazing from here. I am from the south and yes I am a little bias but come on they can do a lot better then that!

Living in Canton, I heard this was on the list of retail establishments that was going to open in the new Target shopping Center. I wanted to find out what we were in store for. The place is new and fresh. A mix between industrial chic and low country. The bbq is smoked meat, with your choice of sauces on the side. Everything is a la carte. I tried the brisket and ribs, with a side of coleslaw. Everything was flavorful, but a bit on the small side (portions). Will be a welcome addition to Canton. JD's has their competition.

My mom and I stopped in for a late lunch after a day of running errands. Neither of us had eaten all day so needless to say we were pretty hungry. I had been wanting to try this restaurant after hearing about it from a few friends and this place definitely lived up to, if not exceeded my expectations. As soon as we walked in were greeted with a hello, and an explanation of the menu. The service could have its own review. I couldn't believe how genuinely happy and helpful everyone was that worked there. It was very refreshing and added to our experience. My mom and I decided to share meals and settled on the brisket, pulled pork and 2 sides (fries and mac&cheese). Everything was cooked to perfection. I really didn't know what to expect but the brisket was amazing. I am a bit of a condiments queen and just the sauces they had to choose from to go with our meat dishes were outstanding. The mac and cheese was on point, not to heavy and just cheesy enough. The fries were fresh and seemed to have a seasoning on it that really added to the overall flavor. As we ate someone came around to make sure we were OK, and also cleared out plates. After our meal although it seemed like a lot, portions weren't too big and nothing made you leave feeling "gross" even though this is definitely a place for indulgence. Although it isn't something I crave every day, when I want a good pulled pork sandwich this is the place I would go. Can't wait to go back. Also should note, thought it's a nice touch if you want a beer they have them for purchase.

Amazing BBQ, outstanding customer service, and a great atmosphere. So glad the wait was too long at Outback and Perry Hall Steakhouse. Mission BBQ is by far the better choice. The 5 bone baby back ribs with two sides is more than I could eat. My favorite side was the cheese potatoes. My boyfriend ordered the sampler with brisket and the chicken. You get a half a chicken even with the sampler. He said it was cooked perfect. Love the selection of sauces. Smokey Mountain and the Alabama white sauce are our favorite. An American BBQ place that supports the WWP (Wounded Warrior Project). Sounds like a winner already! Throw in some terrific customer service (with a smile), quick food service, delicious American BBQ sandwiches, and tasty side dishes makes a this place a sure bet for BBQ lovers.

I highly reccommend the brisket platter. You can get it lean or "moist" which is a little fattier. I went with the moist and it was delicious. The sides are a hit here too. I stand by the green beans which are cooked with bacon. Also, the cole slaw is just how I like it where it's large shreds rather than finely chopped cabbage. They have about 6 different barbecue sauces to try from all the different styles, plus NC style vinegar for your pulled pork if you go that route. It's cafeteria style, with no real wait staff, but it totally works here. It's fairly new and I hope it stands the test of time.

Run, do not walk to this place immediately. I mean it! Stop reading this review and go now!!! The service is amazing and everyone is extremely friendly. The location is very clean and well maintained. I know it is new, but there is always one to two staff members always cleaning the dining room. For a casual dining establishment, it is spotless. The turkey and pulled pork are excellent. The turkey is my favorite and I cannot wait to go back to try the brisket. Their seasonal sides are good including the stew. Don't pass this place up!!!!!!

This place is amazing!! I walked in and had no idea what I was doing. The friendly cashier helped me out. I ended up getting a half rack of ribs, baked beans and mac and cheese. It was ready as soon as I had filled up my drink. I went to grab my food and one of the guys explained all the bbq sauces to me. They''ve got 6 different kinds, all of which were really good. The meat fell right off the ribs and the mac and chesse....well, that's probably the reason why i'll be back. Best mac and cheese ever. If you haven't been here yet, you need to go asap!!

My wife and I have been to mission about a dozen times. The food has always been exceptional. The only place I have had better bbq was in Texas. Today there was some new items on the menu. Potato salad, strawberry short cake and a ribeye steak! I got all 3 the potato Salad had a mustard twang which I really enjoyed. The steak was a first for me (smoked steak who knew) but was delicious but hard to cut with the plastic knife. During our meal one of the managers checked in on us and we had a great conversation about the food and his service in the military. He was super nice and seemed to love his work. He brought 2 strawberry shortcakes over for us to try and it was so good and imo was better then the warm peach cobbler now that it s so hot out. After finishing our meal we ran into who I believe was the owner doing some taste testing of new rolls and he asked if we wanted to help out. It's very nice seeing how hard they work to keep improving the food. I'm honestly more impressed the more I go in. Keep up the good work mission!

Always on the lookout for good bbq even if it is from a chain. A famous Dave's opened up near our house but we've heard the food isn't that good. We stopped in at Mission BBQ and we were pleasantly surprised. This place is sort of like the Panera Bread of BBQ. The staff at this location was friendly and the bbq was good. Not great like a Big Bad Wolf but worth a trip if you're hungry. They have a nice selection of sauces at the table and they do serve beer as well which is a bonus.

Very good brisket and BBQ. Only let down was the canned green beans. Go.

Killer food, friendly staff. Never had a problem here. It fills up during busy times... They should expand into the space next door!

Love this place. I go a few times a month. Everyone is very friendly and even though it's counter service they always stop by your table to see if you need anything and to clear your plates. The pork is so good!! Also the jalapeño cheese sausage. The fries are the best I have had and I love that they mKe each individual order fresh. The place is clean, well run, and reasonably priced. I'd rather come here any day of the week over going to a full service restaurant.

Before my food coma sets in, I have one word...GO! I have travelled to many BBQ hot spots around the country an this Q is among the best tasting I've had. Alabama White sauce and Bay-B-Que are two sauces that I don't know how I lived without in my life (I bought those two sauces home in mason jars they have for sale). Also, the sports, military, and law enforcement decor/theme give it a great touch of Americana! Go now!

I'm going to start this review by saying that I love meat in all its splendid forms. Meat in its BBQ'ed variety is no exception. I will also preface this by saying that I spent four years living in North Carolina just north of Lexington, which is (one of the many self described) BBQ capital of the entire universe. Prefacing over, here we go: This place is delicious. They sample from almost every BBQ style in the country so whatever you have a hankering for, they will have. I went the other day after I watched an episode on barbeque brisket on the Food Network and then immediately had to seek some out. After a quick review of Yelp, I was pointed here. Brisket? Check. Pulled Pork? Check. Can order both on the same plate? Check. With delicious sides? Check. I got the lean brisket which was very good and tasty, not dry (I later sampled the moist...which is moist...with fat...tasty fat...which is not a bad thing as long as you know that is what you are getting when you order moistly). 6 variety of sauces were good 'n tasty too. Surprisingly, Old Bay and BBQ do go well together in their Maryland sauce. Also loved the Baja sauce as well. Sides? Baked beans with brisket and green beans with bacon. Meat permeates (pun intended) everything here. Corn bread is the fine tasty touch. Star down for kinda bland turkey which is what my SO ordered....but its BBQ turkey so can't hold it against them too bad. Will (..and already have) return(ed). Go forth and eat meat.

This place is great. Best barbeque I have had in the area. Pulled pork is delicious. You have a choice of 6 barbeque sauces, all on the table so you get to try them all. The sides are good sizes and good tasting. The customer service is great, I was there during the lunch rush and still felt paid attention to. They even brought over a free side of fries to our table. Definitely would recommend to barbeque lovers and everyone else!

This is some excellent bbq! Excellent pulled pork, sides were fresh and delicious, good sweet tea. I have been to Franklin's in Austin, TX and apparently Mission is trying to work toward Franklin quality. To be honest, I thought it was close to as good. The cornbread was a bit dry and that is literally the only improvement i can think of!

I'll start with the good. Mission does a lot of the little things right. Their sides are solid (very good BBQ beans); they've got a wide selection of cool, hard-to-find bottled sodas (and beers) in addition to the regular fountain setup; the staff members are as friendly and attentive as can be; and each table has several regionally inspired sauces (I particularly like the California-inspired Baja sauce). So that's all good and well. But all the little things in the world can't save a BBQ joint if the one big thing, the meat, isn't up to snuff. And Mission's meat, frankly, leaves quite a bit to be desired. I've sampled their brisket, pulled pork, ribs, chicken, and turkey, and each has left me thoroughly unimpressed. They're all usually tender enough, but, to my palate, nearly completely lacking in flavor, the characteristic smokiness of truly great BBQ just completely lacking. Sure, the sauces are there to add some flavor, but in my opinion, the sauces' role is to complement or gently enhance the flavor that's already been imparted to the meat through marination and slow, meticulous smoking for hours and hours. If you have to rely on sauce to add ALL of the flavor to your BBQ, then you've got a big, big problem. And for all the little things it does well, Mission BBQ has a big, big problem.

Great food (fresh, hot, tasty), friendly staff, fast service. What more can you ask for? Love the selection of BBQ sauces from all over the country on every table. We stumbled upon this place and will definitely be back in the future.

Looks like the sandwiches should be pretty good but I ordered the BBQ spaghetti. Big mistake! Super sweet over-cooked noodles.

Eh. Just ok. Brisket was DRY and the rub was overwhelmingly salty. They did offer sauce to go but it tasted like ketchup with a touch of chili powder. Said it was bold. Green beans had zero texture other than mushy and the "brisket bits" in those were more like baco bits. Hubby had ribs and said they were pretty good, but not fantastic. We live in Ohio, never thought of it as a bbq mecca but at least a half dozen places better than this in our small burb.

good brisket, too much sauce with the chopped brisket. excellent service, Great 'unsweet' iced tea. 5 star ladies rooms-very clean place too. Stop here when you are traveling on 95. Just a few mins off the highway.

It's off the beaten path but the barbecue is great. The pulled pork sandwich was good, the slaw was fresh and the baked beans were great. Staff was very nice. Looking forward to going back....

Wow, this place has good food! It has a nice atmosphere and plenty of seating (even some outside which I can't wait to use when it's warmer!). You order at the counter and pick up your order when your name is called. My server was excellent at taking my order quickly and efficiently and I only had to wait a few minutes for my meal to be put together (I got it to go). I ordered the pulled pork and wow, it was so tender. It's smoked and they give you bbq sauce to add to it. I tried the memphis sauce (a sweet and smoky sauce-- delicious!) but will be trying the bay sauce next time (it has Old Bay in it, it must be good!). I also ordered their fries. I'm a bit of a fry snob and man, these might be my new favorite fries in town! They have just the right mix of salt and pepper and were very moist. My meal also came with corn bread, unknowing to me when I ordered. It was very fresh and actually had real pieces of corn in it! Who would have known that corn bread should actually have corn in it?! I was starving when I got the food but still wasn't able to finish everything I ordered. I will definitely be back here soon!!

I wasn't sure when I heard about the BBQ joint in an old suburban Blockbuster. But then I saw the BBQ truck that they have sitting outside and saw what they did to the building and was impressed. But I was even more impressed by their choice of sauces, their selection of meats and especially their Baked Beans. One of the best I've ever had! Good job Mission BBQ!

Well, I have to say its just ok, not good to really good BBQ. I will say that at least its better than Famous Daves. Then again, not a ringing endorsement. Everything too dry and the sides were pathetic. Variety of sauces are nice to see, but none were that memorable.

First 3 visits were awesome! Most amazing brisket ever. Unfortunately this last visit, my "moist" brisket was dry and tasteless. The first 3 times, the brisket had the most amazing flavorful crust on it. This time it just tasted liked burnt edge. I complained and got more from a different piece that just came out and it was the same. Please fix this guys!!! I'll probably try once again before I give up completely.

This place has hands down the best BBQ anywhere in Maryland. The turkey is so tender and juicy. The brisket is to die for. Mac and cheese is worth eating by itself. And the best thing is it is ran by ex Veterans and is super patriotic! Go there now and eat!

Mission BBQ is a real, authentic rib joint built inside a cool, casual dining restaurant. The menu is classic BBQ: ribs, pulled pork, brisket & sides -- all made fresh on site -- as well as a few featured specials (smoked prime rib when I visited, smoked wings were coming for the weekend). I'm a big BBQ fan and could tell they take their BBQ seriously; nothing frozen or pre-made here. Of course that means you'll also pay a little more, but it's definitely worth it. Add to that the place was spotless and the staff was really friendly & helpful. Whether you're a hardcore BBQ-lover or a casual carnivore you really need to check it out.

this place is great. the turkey is hands down the best turkey i have ever had. the bay-b-que sauce is my fav! this place, in my opiniom, is over priced for the amount you get (all a la carte). but the quality is top notch!

This place is awesome....good prices and fantastic food. It seems kinda intimidating at first, but just go up to the counter and order, I thought it was rather loud, so you need to speak up when ordering. I had the 3 meat plate with pulled pork, brisket and turkey and a side of creamed corn...and this ain't the school cafeteria creamed corn...this was almost like Don Pablo's corn pudding. The tables have a 6 pack of sauces...try them all. They also have some additional sauces too. This is not table service dining, you order and seat yourself. You can have a beer if you like too. They do rotate some menu items, so go often and see what is new. As far as the sauces...one is quite remarkable, that is the BayBQ sauce made with the Maryland classic Old Bay. You might just end up ordering a Mason jar to go home with you. Great meal and a great value and the company has great American values too.

What a treat. When my bf and I were on a mission for some Vietnamese food we saw a Gadsden flag waving in the distance and then we saw there was a new BBQ place. We were sold and headed to Mission BBQ. The brisket, pulled pork, mac and cheese, and beans were all amazing. Even the lemonade, which I usually never drink, was awesome. I love the variety of sauces at each table and the convenient paper towels. My only advice is to improve the rolls. They were very disappointing and I scraped off the meat after the first bite. I know not to order a sandwich and just get the meat from now on. I love the interior of this place and my bf chitchatted with a manager (or one of the managers) for a few moments before leaving. He seemed like a stand up guy. We will be back and have already recommended this place to all our friends.

Okay my favorite BBQ spots...1. Arthur Byrants (best sandwich) 2. Gates (best ribs) 3. Smokehouse (best beans) 4. Oklahoma Joes (best overall but can't beat the subcategories of 1-3) 5. Texas hill country Franklin (best way of smoking). 6. Little place in Easton, MD Andrew Evans. 7. Fiorella Jackstack 8. KC Masterpiece (dont laugh they actually do a good job at the restaurant) 9. BBs lawnside 10. My parents smoker...Now mission won't break into the top 10 list, but they are a step ahead of Andy Nelson's and definitely worth the trip. The green beans are outstanding. The smoke flavor is not the same as KC or Texas but sure beats many other places in MD. Tried the pulled pork and brisket. Wish the smoke flavor was better and brisket was more "chunky". But, I am definitely a BBQ snob. Great beer selection. Well managed, service was great. Has outdoor seating. I would consider them for catering a party, but need to try more items on the menu...

Great BBQ in Perry Hall. Sweet tea...tasty sides...wi-fi. Military themed and very supportive of the Wounded Warrior Project. Only minus was the roll...kinda dry.

The food is great. Never had anything I didn't like. I ended up getting the wrong order tonight, and they went out of their way to fix it. They made sure my turkey sandwich was made right away and they delivered it to my table. The Memphis Belle sauce is the best in my opinion. You won't regret going here. Both the food and customer service is A+!

We love this place. The service is excellent, the food is top notch, and the ambiance is perfectly military! Recently their computer went down when we were in the store. Everyone was calm, they asked if they could take our credit card number and charge us later. I was uncomfortable and we were planning on leaving. They didn't want us to leave, fulfilled our order with no payment, and said that they would see if the system came up before we left, if not, the food would be in the house. Luckily, the system came up. We paid and they still gave us free dessert. Excellent customer service.

I have been to two Mission BBQ restaurants one in York,PA and the other in Nottingham, MD Both have the same food/setup but I could feel a different vibe in each.....I know, but I can't help what I feel. The PA location was more somber. I could clearly hear country music. I over heard a manager speaking to a vet and giving him a discount and for some reason I teared up when they offered me a Fallen Hero cup. Don't ask.....maybe I tuned into something. Nottingham, MD felt very different. It was louder. I could hardly hear the music. There were more young people behind the counter and the order gal seemed just a smidgen annoyed with me for being indecisive. It could be she zoned and remembered she was mad at her boyfriend or something. I had the 2 meats brisket(moist)/chicken and sweet potato. Yummo....so no real complaints.

Great food, reasonable prices, great portion sizes, friendly staff who look like they enjoy their jobs, courteous, and doting managers, a good selection of entre sides and 6 different barbecue sauces to choose from. Their restaurant and bathroom are very clean and they have a wash-up sink outside the bathroom if you just want to wash up--BIG fan of this! We had the pulled pork with coleslaw on top. Very tasty, but I'd have preferred wider and softer buns. While we were eating the manager stopped by to talk with us and another staff was walking around with brisket samples. I'll have to try the brisket next time! What's great is that they give money to disabled veterans and let people in uniform eat free--other than enjoying a power trip, it's a good reason to be a cop! We'll be back!

I believe this is a chain, although a small one (2 in MD, a few on Tx? Not sure.). Either way, it definitely feels like a chain. You order at the cash register and wait for them to call your name. You sit wherever you'd like, nothing special. The pulled pork was very dry. The turkey was ok, but had an odd smoky flavour. The lean brisket was the best, although that too was a little on the dry side. You can choose from 6 bbq sauces on the table. All pretty different, but I enjoyed the Memphis and the MD one the most. The baked beans were delicious and the mac-n-cheese was ok. The cornbread could have used some warm love. All in all, don't expect to be wowed by this joint. It's straightforward and simple. If I had my choice, I'd pick Famous Dave's instead.

Boom. For a fast, Chipotle like BBQ option, this place is amazing. I have a friend from out of town and he eats it literally every time he is in the area. We have tried everything but the chicken which is like a half chicken btw. All good. they have two different cuts of the brisket, fatty and lean. Live and little and get the fatty, it's better. The sausage is awesome, the pulled pork is great especially with traditional Carolina vinegar sauce which most BBQ places up north don't have. The turkey is as moist as it gets and the sides are pretty awesome. The greens beans aren't the best but I just don't get them anymore. You can get out of there with drinks and 1 or 2 side samplers for around $25 which isn't bad for good BBQ. Additionally, Mission BBQ has like 6 or 7 sauces. 6 different kinds of locational BBQ sauces from around the US including an Old Bay one. Again, the Carolina vinegar sauce is great. Try it. It's especially good on the fries. The service is amazing. They have 2 sinks to wash your hands off after you're done. the only thing is I wish the place was bigger. The place is always packed! the ambiance is pretty cool as the decorations are patches and gear supporting and from our armed forces, police, and firemen. Can't go wrong with that. And apparently, they play Star Spangled Banner and salute our troops or something at 12 noon each day.

Staff greeted me with a smile and a welcome tone. Theme is American Military Appreciation, absolutely love it. Ordered the brisket. Was a little fatty but tender and flavorful. Cornbread wasn't like mom's, but it paired well with lunch. I'd eat here again.

Super friendly service and the bbq is legit! For $20 we had a meat platter with green beans and mac n cheese, strawberry shortcake, and two drinks (yummy sweet tea!). Excellent indeed. Also really enjoyed seeing their support of the Wounded Warrior Project and their overall clean (if somewhat chain-esque) aesthetic...kind of a BBQ spin on Chipotle. Absolutely a standout family-friendly place in an otherwise dessert of good food! I will be back!
