The food is always fresh and good, from the chicken wings and subs to the Singapore noodles, the food is always excellent!
I checked out Joes Restaurant a few weeks ago for a bite to eat before visiting a friend in the area, I ordered 2 cheesesteak egg roll and a small egg drop soup. I was pleasantly surprised by how yummy everything was. They put a little spring onion in the soup which gives it a nice flavor. Given the location I see why this is only the fifth review. There were some seedy characters hanging around the front door, and I was offered to buy a single cigarette.
UPDATE:::: Saturday night take-out was good! The order: steak & cheese w/jalapeno peppers; shrimp lo mein; and 3 wings w/fried rice & an added egg. Everyone enjoyed their food. The fried rice could've had more sprouts, onions etc but it had flavor. My order was ready when I arrived. And the Asian cashier even said "gracias" to the Hispanic guy in front of me - that was very customer friendly! I'm moving in a few weeks and mad I'm just discovering this spot. Tried it to settle my hunger a couple of days ago - just 3 wings. I didn't want to waste my money or taste buds. Surprisingly good. I was expecting a bland flavor coupled with old oil - not the case. Sooo, their reward---I'm going for a Saturday night take-out run. Hoping round 2 is pleasant.

The best place for fried fish in the dc area. Fresh fish is delivered to the shop every morning. You pick the fish, and it is scaled, gutted, filleted and cooked to order! Not frozen fish like everywhere else in DC. I was really surprised that you can have them wrap up the fish whole and you can cook it at home. I had the fried rockfish, fried shrimp, and fried oyster. Nothing fancy, just fresh fried seafood. It really doesn't get any better than that. The sides are also limited, but I was there to eat seafood, so it wasn't an issue to me. If I could, I would dock a half star for that. Otherwise, the staff is friendly. Portions are generous, and prices are fair. It's cash-only, but there's an ATM inside. It's also pretty much standing room only, so there's nowhere to sit and eat.
I get take-out from here often. I continue to go back (for 15 years) because: -It's inexpensive; -It's fresh and good; I always go with the catfish platter, but there's more than that--whiting, trout, perch, blue, porgies, snapper, shrimp, oysters--all the usual suspects. The coleslaw, potato salad and hush-puppies are pretty reliable. You get a lot of food, too--big portions. -Ms. Kim, the proprietor, and her family (who serve as staff) and the various long-time cooks try hard to get it right and serve it hot. Potomac Fish House has been in operation for 32 years. I think it's been performing well lately. There's a new menu board, which is welcome. I feel that this fish vendor offers great value for the money. The food can be excellent. There can also be a wait involved. You just never know. This place serves a ton of folks. In addition to prepared foods, fresh fish (not frozen) is also available for sale; and there is a strong demand for it, too. And that's this fish tale. Cash only. Take-out only. It's found just over the DC border, in Mt. Rainier, MD, on Rhode Island Avenue (Route 1), in the same block as the cop station. You can see the "Welcome to DC" sign from there. No way is this Hyattsville, as some other sources on the Internet indicate. Hyattsville is further down the way. There's a good chance I'll be waiting on the bench for my order.
Prices are super reasonable and the portion sizes are good. The staff of friendly and the fish seemed really fresh. They pulled my trout from the window and fried it...nice! I'm nutrition conscious, and the green veggie options are few, hence the reason for me four star rating.

I only visited this location once, but it is one I would definitely check into again. It's a great bakery featuring items that are more Hispanic in nature. That being said, don't be surprised if the person assisting you knows little or no English. The pastries are all behind glass cases, and things didn't look disturbed from day-to-day, which gives me the impression they aren't removed overnight, but I am making a broad generalization (thus, my assumption should be taken with a grain of salt). The pastries are of great quality, though. They are flaky, light, and tasty. I was surprised, since it's a huge departure from the sugary, syrupy concoctions offered in most malls, airports, and coffee shops. The real star here is the price, though. Two pastries (one a pineapple empanada, the other a large equivalent to an eclair or canoli) cost less than $3 with tax. If I ever happen upon this neighborhood, I definitely know where I will satiate my morning sweet tooth craving.

Don't order from here!! Food took an hour and a half. We called twice and were still polite and hopeful and they were rude and annoyed. Once the food came it was gross and cold. The chicken quesadilla was undercooked. And it wasn't cheap either. Terrible experience :(
Amazing! I just moved to the neighborhood about 2 months ago and I can't believe that something that looks like a carry out could be so delicious. I was extremely hesitant about going there because I'm vegan and typically being vegan and going to carry outs don't mix. How wrong was I? The food was so good that I have ordered from their vegan/veterinarian menu all week. Typically, I stop at Glut or Sweet Natural before going home, but they were closed and I was starving, so I decided to give ZZ's a try. I went in expecting only to order fries, but I was extremely delighted by their extensive vegan/vegetarian menu! I ordered the Veggie Biryani! WOW! They took frozen veggies, yellow rice and chickpeas to a whole new level. This meal was amazing. They use authentic spices and if you ask them to add more veggies, they will at no cost (score)!!! :-) I'd love it if their veggies were fresh, but you can't win em all. Today, I phoned them for a delivery order. I took a chance on the Vegan Pizza and the Veggie Falafel Dinner. I know that it's going to rain this weekend so I want to have plenty of food on hand so i won't have to go out. Imagine my surprise when the vegan pizza (I didn't expect it to be that good) was incredible AND the Falafel Dinner was magnificent too!!! I hereby crown the Falafel Dinner with grilled mixed veggies as my favorite meal thus far from their vegan menu. I will definitely order from and stop by this clean carry out-esque eatery again. I can't wait! Run, don't walk! Oh, did I mention how great the customer service is? They are actually engaging! They really need a store front with table cloths, dim lighting and classical music. This place is way too good to be a carry out!
I had to update my review to say how good the Greek Salad is. I got it recently and ordered it with a chicken kabob on top. It was excellent! The salad dressing is good. The salad is huge too.

Love this place. It's in a very busy intersection and sometimes I want to kill myself by the time I get into the lot, but knowing how fast and easy peesy it will be to get dinner makes it worth it. My bf doesn't like pizza at all, so any pizza that is delivery is out of the question. He says that regular pizza doesn't have tasty crust, and it's sort of true that most places don't try to make the crust tasty besides putting cheese or bacon around it. In any case he likes Caesar pizza, which is great, because I love little Caesars. I remember when Little Caesars started out and their shtick was you get two pizzas for the price of one-- pizza! pizza! We had this 2 or 3 nights for supper once upon a time. Nowadays, pizza! pizza! is out, but hot and ready is in. Stop in and get any of their hot and ready pizzas right away (not during lunch though, just after 5PM), you literally are in and out in about 2 minutes or less. It's amazing. They have other stuff but I only care about the pizza. Tip: Put the pizza slices in the toaster oven for about 5 minutes before you eat-- the crust becomes much more tasty this way. Pop a few in, when they are done, pop in a few more and eat the slices you just took out. In about the time it takes (me) to eat a few pieces, the new slices are ready-- and you will have yourself a steady stream of super hot and tasty pizza.
Service was absolutely TERRIBLE. I asked for breadsticks, she repeated my order and said "Cheese Sticks", also I paid for Ranch, but instead got that disgusting Butter Garlic. Most definitely never coming back here again.
If I could give zero starts I would. The management here is horrible. They have a sign that says they promise to have your "Hot & Ready" orders completed in 30 seconds, when we asked about the sign the store manager ripped it down and told us, "y'all ain't getting nothing free, I put this sign up and I'm taking it down." We received no apology for the false advertisement and had to deal with a manager yelling at us and treating us rudely. There was a women that had been waiting for a "Hot & Ready" order for 15 minutes. Every time I come to this location I end up having to wait 10-15 minutes. If they aren't going to have the orders "Hot & Ready" they shouldn't use the slogan nor have signs telling customers that they promise to have orders ready in 30 seconds and if they need more time for the pizza's its not an issue, they should just explain that to the customers in a professional manner. All in all, save your money and don't deal with the unprofessionalism of this location.
