Dropped into this place one night hoping for a milkshake, and now I'm a regular customer. I don't know if it's because I'm always in around the same day and time or what, but I don't have the problems with rude employees that other reviewers talk about; the workers on the food and the register have never been anything but polite and friendly with me. Chatty, even. I personally think the hot food is a bit overpriced for what it is- comfort food, kept warm in steam trays cafeteria-style. The sides I've tried are fine, but nothing worth writing home about. The main reasons I still like and recommend this place are the homemade ice cream (soooo good) and the pre-made sandwiches, which are always fresh, and taste delicious heated up at home. I favor the chicken parmesan and cuban. The ice cream is priced as a high-end product because it is; you pay more for small-batch, handmade ice cream. If you want cheap, go to Dairy Queen, but I'll stick with Poulet.

Went back to this place for a refresher because its been a good 5 years + since I've visited and let's say that it was less than what I had remembered. People used to rave about Poulet back in the day and my husband wanted to take me here for lunch but even he was underwhelmed by the meal we had and he's the type that never complains about a meal haha. So yeah, the platter we ordered had one meat and two sides and with the drink tacked on it came to a whopping nearly $15. Good thing we only ordered one platter whew. The pulled pork tasted like it had been leftover from the night before and revived with another batch of barbecue/soy. I don't know what they use in their recipe put it was very salty. I've made a better batch of BBQ with my crockpot and Sweet Baby Ray's. The cornbread stuffing was much too wet for my liking and the flavor was bleh, but the Mac n cheese is what you would expect (reminded me of Boston Market so not bad). We ordered a corn muffin eventually in an attempt to even out the saltiness of the pulled pork but that turned out to be dry and lacking in the flavor department. Honestly, the best part was the fresh brewed tea which tasted "fresh brewed" as stated and a good refresher to our disappointing meal. If I wasn't in good company, I would have probably scrambled out sooner than later. The icing on the cake was the little black hair we found in the cornbread stuffing that my husband refused to let me bring to their attention lol. They really should be wearing hair nets ack! I had really wanted to try their milkshake afterwards because I hear good things about it but after that meal I was a little less enthusiastic about returning to the order line. I maybe..just maybe would return to give it a try but won't be rushing back any time soon unless I happen to literally be passing by this street.

We live close by so I would love to give them a good review. But their items are expensive and not very good. Workers not very helpful and found chicken bones in my wrap once. Called and complained and they said I would have to immediately return it for a refund or otherwise no refund. I had already left and gone home to eat. Not very nice.

I ordered a chicken salad sandwich for lunch today and was disappointed. It had very little chicken salad on it. It came on a kaiser roll and all I could taste was the roll. I tried the chicken salad by itself and was very bland. Not what I expected for $8.

Poulet is expensive but worth it when in a crunch for quick dinner take out. Pretty good breakfast sandwiches...they used to be 'to die for' when made on their fresh rolls years ago. We stop here at least once a week and the food is consistently good. Love the new additions of calorie controlled salads in the chilled cases. Kids love the Mac n Cheese.

My coworkers were raving about this place for lunch. I tried the grilled salmon platter with green beans and cranberry yams and squash. The salmon was very greasy. The green beans were good. The cranberry yams and squash were SUPER sweet. But I enjoyed the ice cream. Had birthday cake and espresso fudge I think. A nice treat that I never typically have for lunch. If I went back with the group, I would get green beans again with two other veggies. I would definitely get the ice cream again.

I love rotisserie chicken, so my friend recommended we come here for dinner last night. She said she and her husband order from here at least once a week and it's always good. I was excited to indulge in some comfort food and went to Greenspring Station! And the rotisserie chicken, I will admit, was delicious. Everything else about the experience was disappointing. I ordered the sides of mac & cheese and mashed potatoes and both were lukewarm. The mac & cheese was actually kind of watery and flavorless, in my opinion. It tasted more like a cup of easy mac than it did a comforting, homemade pasta dish. The meal plus a bottle of Diet Coke came to $13, which also feels a little bit steep for food that you could more or less get at Boston Market. But I think this is, like, their thing. I think people who come here don't mind dropping $15 for basically fast comfort food on a plastic tray. And Poulet caters to those people (literally and figuratively). They have an entire crepe menu.... and each of the crepes are named after a local Baltimore private school. I get it - your client base is composed of private school students and their parents. But what about students from Towson High or Dulaney High? Surely they are welcome. Just not warmly. I guess the Towson Crepe doesn't have the same ring to it as the Bryn Mawr Crepe... They did have ice cream that looked awesome! But it comes with quite a price tag - $3.99 for 1 scoop. I could buy a whole thing at the supermarket for that price! It's not that I don't recommend Poulet. It's that it feels a little bit snooty and 2/3 of the food that I had for dinner was really unimpressive. Where is Kenny Rodgers Roasters when you need them?

My husband and I stopped here as we were leaving my neurosurgeon's office at Johns Hopkins. The food was decent, but sweetened a bit for my taste. I got bleu cheese stuffed bacon wrapped chicken, but the bacon was glazed, which took away from the otherwise good taste. I also got the cranberry yams (also too sweet but decent flavor) and the creamed spinach, which was good. My husband got chipotle chicken with mashed potatoes and mushrooms, and he liked it all. With our meals, a small salad, and 2 drinks, we paid nearly $30. It was decent, but overpriced in my opinion; no doubt due to its location in this higher end shopping area as well as John's Hopkins. I would stop here in a pinch if I were starving again.

When I first moved to Ruxton, this place was right around the corner and I kept passing it and I was really hoping to like it, just because of the vicinity to my place. I was extremely dissapoointed. The chicken was dry, and tasteless. On the other hand the beef was tender and super moist, like my mom's used to make it.The ice cream is to die for. No stars for the chicken. The one star if for the redemption of the beef and the ice cream. It was overpriced food, due to the location. Please people have more taste...don't support bad food!

The salads are wads of lettuce with thin layers of whatever crap you get on top. The crap on top usually tastes like crap, too (roasted vegetables, shrimp, and chicken is what I've had). The roasted vegetable salad tastes like the inside of a slug. The sandwiches are plain Jane with no flavor or anything that make you say a week later "Hey stomach, remember that kick ass sandwich from last week?" Why one star? If this place offered these dismal items for half the price, I would give it maybe 3 stars but the prices are so horrifically high that somebody should shit in the chef' hat (he's the owner too).

Let me preface this by saying that I really, really wanted to like this place. It's right near my work so I have frequently seen people at work with food from here that looks and smells delicious. I finally got the chance to go a while ago and we decided to get a few different things we could try because everything looked and smelled awesome. The crepes are named after various private schools in the area. We got the the Gerstell Academy crepe (bourbon chicken, fresh tomatos, and mozzarella) along with some stuffing, caesar salad, and one of the homemade brownies. The homemade brownie was really good... and unfortunately, the only thing I bothered to take more than one bite of. The crepe was horrible, the stuffing was incredibly bland, and the caesar salad was past its prime. This was not a pleasant visit but everything looked and smelled sooo good so I may have to give it another chance soon.

It's a nice place. Has been for years. But they have no competition and they know it. I've watched the prices climb for the past few years and now I can no longer justify having lunch here anymore. On the bright side. Some of the menu items are very good, but the chicken in almost anything you get tends to be overcooked. They drown that out with sauces (good thing they are yummy). Don't bother getting coffee here. Nobody here knows how to make a good late. Been trying for years. Sad though. I would come more often. Even drive out of the way if they were priced better. I guess they figure they need to rape everyone since Johns Hopkins is next door.

Excellent food- generous portions. For those who think its too expensive-- have you seen the price of groceries lately? The check out cashiers are definitely not Sally Sunshine- but they have never, ever been rude to me. I actually really like one of the people who work the register- I've "known" her for many years bc she worked at a different local restaurant that I used to frequent for lunch. She doesn't smile much but she's the sweetest heart ever! I really like Poulet- I've been stopping there several times a year for years to get great home cooked meals to go.

The first time I walked into this place, I saw they had a crepe named after Bryn Mawr, a school that I hate with every fiber in my body (because I went there). A small part of me said "Screw this yuppie joint." but the rest of me was all "No no no let's give it a shot!" Sides, my man likes to eat here. Surely it can't be that bad! Oh well indeed it was that bad! The first time I had chicken with sides that were as boring watching paint dry. Mac and cheese is one of the top ten best foods ever, yet here it reminds me of unhappy noodles with some cheese on top. The meal was boring and could have put me to sleep. We ate here again tonight, and this time I got a burrito with chicken. For the most part the burrito wasn't bad. I had to take the chicken out since the chicken was offending my taste buds a great deal. A half hour after I ate here, the food took revenge on my stomach, and not in a happy way. I'll never eat here again.

Funny how the crepes are named after the various private schools in the area. It's those same high schools whose students work at Poulet, eye you up as you go in to place your order and maybe give you your food with a smirk. Besides the less than stellar service is the hit or miss food. My rotisserie turkey was not as juicy as I would have liked as was my friend's chicken. Honestly, you can find much better chicken at the Pennsylvania Dutch Market or dare I say Boston Market. The sides were also just there - the mac and cheese was acceptable while the corn stuffing was so-so. Save yourself the time, money and frustration and go some place else.

Basically a cafeteria with ok food and service bordering on rude to no service at all. They make up for this with their high prices. I am not sure this place knows what it wants to be and could use some focus. I will not be going there again.

I agree with Allison L. (previous review) I really wanted to like this place. After years of happy experiences at 'windy valley ice cream' I was hoping for a noteable local place, but the food was average. The selection was not any better than Boston Market. average chicken, salty sides, soggy salads. What made every thing worse was the TERRIBLE SERVICE. I think I was one of three people in there and was ignored until I went out of my way to get someone's attention. The high school girls working there don't seem to have time to bother with customers and very unfriendly.

(04/23/2012) Stopped by on the way back from Greenspring Station. It's a quick place to grab lunch; the set up is pretty much cafeteria-style. Tried the eponymous poulet: leg quarter rotisserie chicken with 2 sides. Overall, everything was lowest common denominator, salty, cheesy, creamy, lubricious. Creamed spinach was green enough (not overcooked to grey), in a bechamel with touch of parmesan and hint of nutmeg; scalloped potatoes were sliced from fresh, tender to disintegration, layered with what seemed to be American cheese and muenster, so melty and stringy at the same time. The chicken was not really quite like what I expected from a rotisserie chicken; it was very juicy, very salted, skin was bronzed, but not necessarily crisped. If I had to say, it looked like it was brined and baked or rotisseried and heat-lamped or held until steamed. Lots of offerings, pseudo-Chinese, sandiwiches, wraps, sushi (?!). Interesting draw, they make their own ice cream in-house. Would be a convenient place if you work nearby (quick, lots of options), a little pricey for what it is, but locally owned and worth a stop.

Let me start out by saying that I live less than a mile from poulet and have been there many times. Let's start out with the negatives: The price-three to four dollars more expensive then it should be per meal. The other negative is the crepes named after the baltimore prep schools... the crepes are the worst part of the menu but the names make them the most enticing item. do not fall for them. On the other hand The sides are all amazing the bourbon chicken is good the chicken tenders are good (all the platters i highly reccommend) The creamed spinach never disappoints the ice cream is great and if you go midday, you can get burgers and pit beef right off of the grill that will not disappoint. So if you are willing to spend three to four dollars more than the place should be charging, avoid the crepes, and try the creamed spinach, this restaurant does have quite a lot of flavor. Thanks

The catered food from Poulet that sits around after a long meeting.....is still better than some restaurants......I could'nt believe it. The roasted chicken was as flavorful as I have ever tasted. It wasn't salty but very full bodied.....the skin had a nice glaze/caramelization... rich with flavors The grilled salmon tasted great..even after sitting for an hour....* I got to the meeting late*...the outside was still crunchy from grilling...but the center was still moist and tender...was not tough at all. The green beans were flavored with fried onions....garlic....wonderful side dish There was a cucumber tomato salad that was refreshing to eat on such a hot day...... The cookies......are just like home made. Chewy and soft......the exterior of the cookie had a slight crunch.....but the centers were done but very chewy...had lots of body If you need someone to help cater your event.....LOOK HERE FIRST...They beat all comers.

I always get the Bourbon Chicken platter, with mashed potatoes...and it's amazing. The chicken is fantastic. It gets kind you full fast as the bourbon sauce can be kind of heavy. There's lots to choose from here though...and if you don't want Chicken, they have wraps and salads as well. My mouth is watering as we speak just thinking of it's deliciousness...and it reminds me that it has been a realllllly long time. Definitely try it out!
