Absolutely horrible experience here. Came from a hot yoga class down the street with my African American friend. We were sweaty , tired , most importantly, ravenous. I had passed this place for several YEARS and always wanted to try it and now was my chance ! We sat at the bar , 10 mins go by ,, my friend and I start laughing like "are we invisible ?" (Kinda funny cuz we're both bartenders ) A male bartender walks right past us AT THE BAR, to reset a table NEXT to the bar! I said "excuse me can we get some MENUS?!", very obviously upset. He goes "uh sure",, then proceeds to walk away,, no drink order , no waters , no specials , no "I'll be with you in a minute" nada. upon first glance the menu seemed intriguing ! Lamb lollipop kabobs for an appetizer, salmon BLT (I think ?),,and a raw bar with a couple good selections. Another 5 goes by ... A burly tall white male comes by the bar , he's blowing hot air with other guests, just hangin out. I recognized the way he carried himself, and asked if he was a manager , I explained my experience , the ignoring , the table cleaning, he seems pretty unsurprised about this. I hate to play this card , but I'm positive it was race related , or if not just that , the fact that we're younger girls , possibly unkempt from our yoga class, and looked generally "less than savory " There was nothing I wanted as compensation from the manager, he was trying to stop us, as we just breezed out the door.. Now mind you, I am IN THE BIZ, I've been in restaurants for 10 years,, I have never, and I repeat EVER, walked out of a restaurant. I always think: "maybe it's just an off night for them ", as it happens occasionally ... But zero GREET? !This was my first time. So thanks for providing that experience five,, what business doesn't want someone else's money ?!?! I leave 30% on my bills consistently , and my friend and I can EAT,, you hear that bartenders ? You just missed out on a 50$ tip on our 150$ hypothetical check,, guess they don't care about their wallets or their guests

First of all, this place is known for its great martini list and it delivers! Lots of choices, lots of unique martini combinations, I am sure there is something for everyone. But the choices don't end there: lots of beer on tap and bottled, and a nice wine selection (like I said, something for everyone). Five has daily food specials in the bar for happy hour, and also has a full menu from its sister restaurant (next door) Christopher Daniel. The food is consistent and tasty, we especially like the flatbread pizzas (enough to share). Five is a nice spot for an after-work drink and a snack, so why not give it a shot?

The hairy bearded bartender with tattoos is the best! Fantastic wings, cold beer, fun times, and the bearded bartender puts his man love in every cocktail! No one services you like him! Yeah Five! Don't forget to ask for a swizzle stick!

I like Five. They have a nice selection of martinis and a selection of other drinks as well. I haven't tried the food, but I wouldn't be opposed to the option. It is a tiny bar in comparison to many, but the size is nice. It makes for a nice evening place. I've never been much on bars in strip malls, yet I like this place.

Five is a great find for a locals type bar. Great quality food, a step or two above most bars, from a shared kitchen with Christopher Daniel, and service is great.

Great after work atmosphere. Nice bartenders. Specials all around. The food I would recommend: Baked Brie Housemade buffalo chicken tenders The salad with blue cheese and pears Bison Sliders.... Its good food with great martinis!

Five for five! That's right. This is one of my favorite bars in Baltimore. It's the perfect spot for a date night or to watch a game. The bartenders are super friendly, but the thing that makes this place really great is the food! I've had a bunch of different things on the menu and nothing has ever disappointed. The flatbreads are awesome. The wings and the jumbo lump crab dip are top notch. There is so much to choose from on the menu, though! Salads, sandwiches, raw bar, burgers. There are definitely some creative selections on the menu which makes you feel like you are not at your typical baltimore bar. And if you're in the mood for fine dining, step next door to the fine-dining side, Christopher Daniels. I've only eaten on the fine dining side once, but from what I remember, it was superb. Just talking about this place makes me want to go snack on some delicious tizers and sip some well-made bevs. Can't wait till my next trip.

This place has the best buffalo chicken tenders in the state! A bit pricey at $10.00 it makes up for it by the size of each tender.

Love this place and it is a staple "go to" with my husband. We sit in the bar but order from the dining room menu. Fish is excellent.

This place should actually get a 5 star review for its awesome food and mixed drinks but if you aren't a regular, the service isn't the greatest. I can appreciate that the more you go, the better the service gets. The bartenders are friendly and make a point to make conversation and get to know you if they recognize your face. Enough about service because the food is incredible. The elevated bar food is worth the price. Everything I have ever eaten there has been great. No complaints whatsoever. The drinks speak for themselves. It's a great place to go for a good drink or a craft beer!

This place bills itself to be a relatively more upscale bar with slightly upscale food. The bar atmosphere, and the service tends to fit that bill quite well. However, the quality of the food and the prices of both the foods and drinks are not quite there yet. As many people have already noticed, the drink and martini list are quite extensive, as well as on the pricier side. The food is not quite up to par with their image though. The fish and chips were pretty unremarkable. I don't know if I'll be back, but I definitely wouldn't be against it. I'm sure there are better places for the price nearby.

Review for bar only. I have never eaten here but would suspect the food to be decent based on the drink selections. Small joint and usually crowded but never had to wait too long for a drink. Really the only place a man can drink a pumpkin pie martini and not feel awkward, at least I didn't after 5 or 6 of em.

Starting with the negative then to the positive of the restaurant. I was expecting to walk into a purely martini bar. Wow was I wrong! This is NOT a martini bar. This is a regular hi-top bar with tons of food. My partner and I wanted to take a good friend of ours out to a martini bar. We've been to many martini bars before that have been nothing but martinis and no other drinks. That's what we were expecting. We walked in and saw food everywhere and not as many drinks or martinis as we were expecting. It took us several minutes to find a seat but when we did it took about 15 minutes for a server to make their way to us not even bringing any menus. Now, to the positive: When we sat down and finally had menus in our hands, we noticed the wall that has amazing liquor, beer, and wine selections on it. Of course we had to try their crushes! They are delicious! For it being named a martini bar, I was upset that there were only about 15-20 different kinds of martinis. There have been other martini bar that my partner and I have been to that have had four different pages filled with martinis. I wish this restaurant wasn't titled a martini bar. The food was delicious and amazing! The service after we were seated and got menus was fantastic. I give this establishment 3 out of 5 because I just wasn't really sold on the concept of the 'martini' bar not being a martini bar and for the selection of martinis being very slim. I'm very happy that I have had the experience here though. Thank you for your service FiVe!

We popped in for dinner at the bar. You can grab a table or cozy up to the bar. FiVe is a great casual alternative to the fine dining atmosphere of Christopher Daniels. You can order from the same menu from Christopher Daniels. The bar has several TVs for watching the game - good for getting a great meal and staying current during playoffs. We enjoyed raw oysters from Virginia and Rhode Island served with a cocktail sauce and mignonette. Both oysters were fresh yet distinct. Yum! The hubby ordered the ahi tuna entree which was executed perfectly with wasabi mashed potatoes and a piece of tempura shrimp. My burger was tasty though just a bit over cooked for medium. The side order of broccoli was fresh and perfectly steamed. I couldn't skip the shoestring French fries with my burger. We continued our post holiday pig out with the peanut butter cookie ice cream sandwich. I'm so glad we finished with dessert! The cookie and ice cream were good but the chocolate sauce at the base of the dessert was epic. I could have licked the plate clean, but I realized I was in a public place. Great execution on the food!!! Kudos to the servers. They were on the ball and attentive! Yay!

Just looked at my review from 5 years ago and it still holds true. Five is a great place for light fare, drinks and very friendly service. Still seem to go there about once a month and they have never let me down.

It's just OK. Went with 2 co-workers and had drinks and dinner. The place is basically a small local bar with TVs. We had the oysters and one was bad (stank!) we got 2 free ones as an "oops". The food was typical bar food at best. The classic burger was tasteless and had no pretzel bun. None of us were wowed, and most likely will try other places next time in town. Again, not bad but overpriced and underwhelming for what you get.

Horrible experience here. We sat down to get something to eat but never even got that far. It took 10 mins to get a menu n glass of water. When we got the water there were things in floating in the bottom of our cups. Another 15 mins went by n still no one came to take or order. We just walked out and went down the street!!!

Unfortunately I only leave a review when an establishment is memorable for a horrible experience.... Went in for a drink and a snack at what is advertised as a Martini bar. Ordered a pair if Hendrick's drink martini's & the raw bar colossal crab. The martini's were not dry, and not Hendrick's (none seen at the bar and the taste was not the same) but they managed to over charge for the drink. The crab was the opposite of a raw bar and warm and dangerous for consumption. Instead if going here save yourself the trouble and drive the extra 10 minutes to Tark's. The drinks are better and cheaper!

When northern Baltimore burbia social engagements prevail, Five is a solid go to pre or post game venue. The appetizers are consistently excellent. Tuna tartare, fantastic homemade tenders, oysters, etc.. The bartenders have their act together, and Christopher Daniel means a very good wine list. The strip center atmosphere is just ok, but the food is so good I'd be a regular if I was, heaven forfend, forced to live in Monium.

Been here twice and the conclusion has been the same each time. The drinks are expensive, but their Patron Cosmo was definitely a favorite. Others were sort of mediocre and/or I have seen somewhere else. The service and the crowd are the reason that I probably won't be back. The bartender and servers both ignored our table after our initial drink order (both times), and when we asked for menu's it took them at least 15 minutes to deliver. (Would be more acceptable if we weren't sitting at the bar, right in front of the bartender). Not exactly a "young" crowd, and it is a lot of regular people. If you're an attractive woman, get ready to be starred at the entire duration of your meal. The food is okay. Again, too expensive for what they offer, especially for portions. Go there for a creative drink list, but it is definitely not the type of environment to stay all night long. Unless, of course, you're a regular or love paying $20 for two martini's.

FiVe (capital "V" intended) is the martini bar run by the adjacent Christopher Daniel restaurant. They have their own abbreviated appetizer menu and also offer the separate Christopher Daniel menu as well. I assume they share a kitchen. The layout of FiVe is just like any restaurant, with the addition of three couches in the back surrounding a small table. I guess this is how they get away with claiming to be a martini bar/lounge as opposed to an exact copy of the restaurant next door. They have some creative drinks like the Snickers martini, Espresso martini, and Creamsickle. I was pretty impressed by the flavors: they all matched their descriptions to the letter. The espresso martini bears special mention because those of us who tried it all agreed it tasted better than any coffee we'd had in a long time. That's saying a lot since it's a martini, and not a coffee. Our server seemed like he stumbled off the set of Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, right to our table. We'll call him Broham. Broham had two holes in his shirt, and one in the back of his pants, showing off his underwear for the world to see. He was wearing shorts and running shoes and kept forgetting a lot of what we ordered. Throughout the evening, at least three other servers came by and waited on us besides Broham, asking if the service was OK. We were pretty trashed so the service seemed fine at the time. Looking back it was pretty bad. The portions are so tiny and so expensive. The shrimp appetizer comes out with only two shrimp and it's $10. The eggplant fries come with less fries than a kid's meal and the dipping sauce is a spruced up tomato sauce. The flat breads are pretty good: there is a pepperoni one and a BBQ chicken one. I was a little confused because I thought flat breads were sandwiches, but these are actually square thin-crust pizzas. Weird. The drinks are very good, and if you get the couch, the atmosphere is great. The music isn't too loud either. As I mentioned before, the food is very expensive and the portions are gourmet-sized but are nothing special. If you get any server besides ours, you'll probably enjoy the service, too.

Worst. Bar. Ever. Went in there Wednesday night after running into a friend at the gym. We wanted some dinner and drinks and it was convenient. Plus, been wanting to check it out for a while. Pretty sad when you walk out of a place hungry and thirsty, huh? But that's exactly what happened. The bar wasn't crowded either - especially considering it was the night before Thanksgiving, a notoriously busy day in the industry. Rather, we were there early (6:45-8:30ish) and, while all the seats were filled, it wasn't packed. The server who took our order? Never saw him again. And despite having asked for bread not once, but twice (we ordered dinner), we never got it. I actually wanted to order a second appetizer but we couldn't get anyone's attention to do so. So, our empty plates and empty martini glasses and empty water glasses just sat there and sat there. Our table was right next to the bar entrance too so there was a steady stream of wait staff bustling by - all of which conveniently ignored us. Finally, a waitress stopped and asked if she could bring us the check. No - "Can I get you something else?" No - "Can I refill your water glass?" (Which should happen without asking, regardless). Heck no. When I said to her that I would have liked to have ordered something else a half hour ago, she haughtily replied "Can't you see we're busy?" Really? Would you like a side of attitude with your meal? The drinks were overpriced and mediocre at best (waiter spilled half of my martini on his five foot walk to our table but didn't offer to fill it). Still charged me full price for it though. I ordered the large Caesar salad, got the small. Ordered bread twice, never got it. Etc., etc. The presentation was lame, at best too. The lobster mac and cheese that I got came in a tiny bowl placed on a large rectangular platter. No garnish. No sides. No nuttin. Visually, any normal chef would have cringed to see that come out of his/her kitchen. I tried to talk to the manager on my way out the door but she couldn't have been less interested in what I had to say. She offered no apologies - although even she admitted that they weren't busy. Rest assured that I won't be wasting my hard earned cents in this establishment ever again! There are too many decent (notice I say "decent") places within a fiVe mile radius who would be happy to serve me - and with more class.

Five is not what you would think judging it by the outside. I think of martini bars as modern and sleek feeling, and expensive.. Five is more relaxed with couches to lounge in, and a big wooden bar. It's always packed at happy hour, so fining a seat at a cocktail table can be difficult. My husband particularly likes the buffalo chicken tender sandwich! It's a great place to go if you want to watch multiple sports games at once.

  • Emma F.

FiVe is probably one of the local bars that I go to the most. Why? I think because of the small, laid back atmosphere. Oh and the homemade buffalo chicken strips! That's right. They are amazing! And you get such large portions. I never come close to finishing them by myself, but I have to get them every time I come in. The only negative about this place is that the service is very slow... Even when sitting at the bar, it takes forever to get a drink and it takes even longer for your food to come out. But again, if you order the buffalo chicken, its well worth the wait!

Horrible experience here. We sat down to get something to eat but never even got that far. It took 10 mins to get a menu n glass of water. When we got the water there were things in floating in the bottom of our cups. Another 15 mins went by n still no one came to take or order. We just walked out and went down the street!!!
