Epic Pizza and Subs

This restaurant is a recent addition to the area, so recent that, at the time of this writing, it doesn't even show up on Google Maps. It is located in the same plaza as a nearby Mars super market and Goldberg's Bagels. I've been to Epic several times and have never had a bad experience. The first trip set the tone. I, and a few friends, traveled down there to try it out over lunch. They'd run out of single slices (it was a late lunch) so we ordered a cheese pizza. The pizza came out fairly quickly and was delivered to the table by the manager/owner. He apologized for not having pizza ready for us and because the pizza wasn't "right." We asked what was wrong and he showed us ... the cheese in the center of the pizza was slightly smashed ... but, to us, it looked and smelled right. He said he was going to make us a new pizza, but we told him not to bother--we were in a hurry and it looked fine. He corrected our assumption and told us he'd leave us this pizza to eat, but give us a free, "proper" one to take away. Well, we ate the pizza (which tasted terrific) and by the time we were done, he had the other ready to go. We took it back for a late snack and it was great, too. Epic makes its pizza thin crust, with just enough crunch to make it hold together, but you want to eat it fold-over NY-style. The cheeses they use (I think its four), give it a nice blend of flavors. The sauce is nice, and not overpowering. When I've gone back and had toppings, I've liked everything quite a bit, especially their Italian sausage. Epic has good lunch specials and more than just pizza. So far, we've had their strombolis and their cheesesteaks as well, both of which are top-notch. It's hard not to just get their pizza, though. One slice and a drink is enough for lunch (though their $5.95 special comes with two slices and a drink). I strongly recommend trying this place out. They're always friendly and always make great food.

Would give it a 100 stars if I could! Favorite local sushi place to eat at! The owners are so nice and care so much about the customers. It's a small place but they will make room for your party! Highly suggest ordering the Ched Roy (has salmon, mango, and orange on top with shrimp tempura inside)! I ALWAYS order it when I go there!
You can't go wrong here. The sushi is delicious and always fresh. My husband and I sometimes do the lunch specials carry out. Carry out orders are usually ready in 10-15 minutes and they've never messed up our order. You get the best bang for your buck at lunch time. We've also tried the pad Thai--okay, but not the best I've had-- and sesame chicken-- pretty solid. The service Is great, but the food is what will keep you coming back! Great sushi!!! For appetizers, try the crab wontons, calamari and fried eggplant. Yes, all fried, but delectable!!!
This place is relatively small and well kept. The servers are very nice and energetic. It seems that the customer base here is very closely knit as at least one or two groups said "bye" in chinese (the workers are chinese) when they left. Without saying, the food is good enough to keep those customers coming back as well. So my mistake while going to a sushi place with "sushi" in the name is to think that they made their other entrees as good as their sushi... Without saying the sushi itself was good. It wasn't fine dining sushi good, but good enough to satisfy a regular sushi crave. Now onto that mistake... I ordered a shrimp tempura udon... what came out was a chinese styled noodle soup bowl with the shrimp tempura on a separate plate (holy crap!! they actually didn't put it in the soup.. Yay)... but the most important thing is that it came with udon noodles =P... I don't quite know what else to say... the soup base wasn't the typical base of a udon bowl and the noodles tasted like they were just store bought. I give this 3 stars for the sushi, would be two for the udon.. but that was my fault for ordering a non sushi dish at a sushi place...

Like other Subway shops, offers low fat options, and you tell them what you want on your sub. The negative is that you can't order online yet and just pick up. Staff is very nice!

We had Eggplant parm and manicotti. The Fallston location is better. Eggplant did not taste the same as Fallston. Manager asked how our meal was and we told him. He shrugged his shoulders, told us the recipes were the same and walked away. Arrogant not worth the time to go therr.!
(03/30/2012) Pretty good local spot for what you would usually find in a take-out/delivery spot, but it's sit down and a step above. As you walk in, the entire place is filled with the aroma of sauteed garlic. There were large pasta portions being served all around us that looked pretty appetizing, full of fresh ingredients. The gratis country-style Italian bread had a nice resilient chew, crusty exterior, sour (in a good way); served with balsamic/olive oil dipping mix with a few scattered dried rosemary leaves. We started with the Arancini (deep-fried rice balls filled with ground beef, peas and mozzarella). They were golden, not exactly crisp on the outside, inside dense and chewy, rice grains a little al dente, savory, filling; served with a tart, garlicky marinara. The Bruschetta Napoletana was three 1/2-inch, toasted slices of the country-style Italian bread (toasted hard, difficult to cut) topped with diced hothouse tomatoes tossed in olive oil, a vampire-repelling amount of garlic, and some shreds of basil (somewhat bruised). The Mediterraneo Salad was a fairly plain bed of spring mix, handful of pine nuts, walnuts, one halved grape tomato, three kalamata olives, and smear of goat cheese; house dressing was an unbalanced overly tart balsamic vinaigrette. Ordered a New York style pizza that was fairly thin, had a crunchy bread dough like crust, also had a little chew; had sufficient amount of meat topping, meatballs were shaved thin (looked to be a frozen product). Place was packed when we walked in, it was like a teen/tween mecca; with their parents, in packs, waiting tables. Hope you don't really need to have a conversation, it was crazy noisy. Food was all right, prices reasonable.
This is a rare find, an excellent Italian restaurant tucked away in the strip mall. Great Italian wedding soup, pasta dishes, salad and crunchy bread, although I could do without the vinegar in the bread dip. Stick to just olive oil. They also serve whole wheat pasta which I really love even though one time I had it, it was a bit undercooked. The service I have to give mixed reviews. The Italian waiters are charming and attentive. The last time we went we had an American waiter who obviously did not like his job as he was surly and inattentive, and we found a worker cleaning the walls with cleaning spray at 7 in the evening- a bit unnerving. But these are minor complaints because the food is just so damn good. Unlike the horrendous Basta Pasta around the corner that serves Olive Garden food, this place is authentic!

Absolutely horrible experience here. Came from a hot yoga class down the street with my African American friend. We were sweaty , tired , most importantly, ravenous. I had passed this place for several YEARS and always wanted to try it and now was my chance ! We sat at the bar , 10 mins go by ,, my friend and I start laughing like "are we invisible ?" (Kinda funny cuz we're both bartenders ) A male bartender walks right past us AT THE BAR, to reset a table NEXT to the bar! I said "excuse me can we get some MENUS?!", very obviously upset. He goes "uh sure",, then proceeds to walk away,, no drink order , no waters , no specials , no "I'll be with you in a minute" nada. upon first glance the menu seemed intriguing ! Lamb lollipop kabobs for an appetizer, salmon BLT (I think ?),,and a raw bar with a couple good selections. Another 5 goes by ... A burly tall white male comes by the bar , he's blowing hot air with other guests, just hangin out. I recognized the way he carried himself, and asked if he was a manager , I explained my experience , the ignoring , the table cleaning, he seems pretty unsurprised about this. I hate to play this card , but I'm positive it was race related , or if not just that , the fact that we're younger girls , possibly unkempt from our yoga class, and looked generally "less than savory " There was nothing I wanted as compensation from the manager, he was trying to stop us, as we just breezed out the door.. Now mind you, I am IN THE BIZ, I've been in restaurants for 10 years,, I have never, and I repeat EVER, walked out of a restaurant. I always think: "maybe it's just an off night for them ", as it happens occasionally ... But zero GREET? !This was my first time. So thanks for providing that experience five,, what business doesn't want someone else's money ?!?! I leave 30% on my bills consistently , and my friend and I can EAT,, you hear that bartenders ? You just missed out on a 50$ tip on our 150$ hypothetical check,, guess they don't care about their wallets or their guests
First of all, this place is known for its great martini list and it delivers! Lots of choices, lots of unique martini combinations, I am sure there is something for everyone. But the choices don't end there: lots of beer on tap and bottled, and a nice wine selection (like I said, something for everyone). Five has daily food specials in the bar for happy hour, and also has a full menu from its sister restaurant (next door) Christopher Daniel. The food is consistent and tasty, we especially like the flatbread pizzas (enough to share). Five is a nice spot for an after-work drink and a snack, so why not give it a shot?
The hairy bearded bartender with tattoos is the best! Fantastic wings, cold beer, fun times, and the bearded bartender puts his man love in every cocktail! No one services you like him! Yeah Five! Don't forget to ask for a swizzle stick!

The bagels here are my favorite. I always get the egg bagel with veggie cream cheese and the husband gets a bagel of some flavor with cream cheese and lox. This store has much more room than the canton store, and maybe even the store on the circle by Towson. However, it is just as hard to find a seat in this one as it is in all the other locations i've been to.
I've been here twice. The first experience was fine, but the second was very disappointing, and I wish to elaborate on that in the hopes that management can step in and ameliorate the situation. This place is brand new after all, and first impressions are everything. I went in on a Monday morning with a friend. We had a young cashier (receipt said Alex). We repeated our order back to him twice because he seemed confused/sleepy/strung out to begin with. Following the trend here in reviews, the order was wrong, for both of us. He was also unable to answer any questions we had, like why one of the items on the "healthy" portion of the menu doesn't exist. Dear THB, you have a huge opportunity as the Bagelworks close by is filthy, and Einstein and Panera are chains. But, first and foremost, you have to get the order right! A scrambled bacon, egg, and cheese is not simply a fried egg on a bagel. They are different! I'll give you another try, but after that, I'm happy to head a few miles north to the Ashland Bagelworks which is fantastic.

Haven't been to their Mt. Washington location but even so I am confident in saying that this location has the best parking. Food is delicious. I would literally devour any roll on the menu. They use fresh, REAL blue crab in most rolls. Never had a bad experience here. My favorite is the Bruce Roll!
Sushi is delicious with a large variety and selection on menu. Decor is nice as well. The big issue is with the service. While it was friendly and professional, they understaff. The restaurant was packed on a Saturday night and I believe they only had one waitress working. They needed 2, maybe 3 based on the amount of patrons. We waited 45 minutes for our food. Once we got it, we were pleased. If they fix this, I'd give them 5 stars.
I've been to Sushi Hana a few times in the Timonium-Lutherville area. The sushi has been pretty consistent, along with the sub par service. THE GOOD... -sushi is pretty good -average variety of maki rolls -easy parking -plenty of seating THE BAD... -the service is less to be desired...and at times abysmal -water refills are slow -last server was very awkward...didn't even start off with hello -hostesses I've observed are not very professional and will text on their phones at the front -some rolls aren't priced....stupid! Overall Sushi Hana is the kinda place you go to when Yamato has too long of a wait. But with that said, I'd even roll up to Edo in Cockeysville. Check this place out if ya want, but have low expectations on service so you're not disappointed!

(12/13/2013) Decent pizza cheap ($5 for a large), maybe it just our imaginations, but the pizza seems to taste better if you special order it over buying the pre-prepped ones ("Hot 'n' Ready") you just pick up there, and you only have the option of cheese or pepperoni. Way, way, back in the day, it used to be 2-for-1 ("Pizza, Pizza!") all the time. Dough is puffy and chewy, pretty tough to chew when it goes cold. Tomato sauce is fairly well-seasoned, not sweet. Good amount of toppings and middling quality cheese. Not bad for the pre-teen slumber party or paying your former college buddies in pizza and beer for moving you into your first apartment.

A friend and I made a beeline for Miller's Deli when we realized the New York Bagel joint next door was kosher, and had no breakfast meat (what the heck am I supposed to put on my everything bagel! jk jk, nothing but love for my kosher peeps. but still. sausage.). The cashier was friendly and helpful, and although the service was somewhat slow, it wasn't unreasonable. The prices on the other hand seemed a bit high. The cheapest deli sandwich was the Egg Salad, which came in at $6.99, and everything else was pretty much $10 and up. My breakfast sandwich was around $5, which was surprisingly low in comparison. Breakfast arrived (my sausage, egg, and cheese and her Southwestern omelette), and we took it to go so we could veg on the couch while nomming. My sandwich was extremely generous in the portions department (2 eggs, 2 sausage patties, tons of pepperjack cheese), and the only complaint I had was that while I could tell they toasted the bagel, only the inside really tasted toasted, and the outside was fairly doughy (not chewy like our favorite NY bagels are). She was quite happy with her omelette and it's generous portions (which it should be at around $10) so overall, it was a decent breakfast experience.
One of the best corned beef sandwiches I've had in years. Great customer service.... Great food!
. Always get great service and great food. And don't be afraid to ask him for a suggestion they have steered me right every time
