The Front Porch Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

  • Michael M.

We booked the Front Porch for my daughters First Communion party 7 months in advance. When we called to talk about the menu (only 6 weeks from the event), we were told that the restaurant is not open on Sundays and they would not be able to accommodate our reservation we made back in September. The manager had no empathy and dismissed our situation as if we were bothering him. Needless to say we are having a hard time finding a new venue and we will definitely not be going back there again. Eventually this poor / incompetent management will ruin this restaurant.

Great ambiance, great service. I think 5 difference staff members came to check on my table. I wish it wasn't so hot the day when we ate there because it would be so great to sit out there on that lovely porch

Great atmosphere and historical venue is fabulous. Good portions and decent prices, even on drinks. Rockfish was delicious as was the crab imperial. Eat local-non chain when you can. It's worth it.

The allure of the place is the only reason why I like it. Food was just okay, and not worth the money.

We gave this a try for Valentine's Day. Since they do not accept reservations, we arrived early and were met with a long line. We found a great seat in the bar, but they were out of the wine we chose. The excellent bar keep suggested a different bottle, and we loved it! Since we had a bottle of wine to drink and an excellent appetizer (Crab dip), we didn't mind waiting; however, after 2 hours, when we checked, they had removed our name from the list! We were seated upstairs in a large cafeteria style room with bright lights, a lot of people seated closely, and noisy children. The food was excellent (LOVED the house salad and their own special house dressing), and the dessert was the best Bread Pudding I have ever had. Because of the excellent service and food, I will go again, just not on Valentine's Day!

I had dinner at the Front Porch a few weekends ago and was a little disappointed that the menu seemed to have shrunk since last time I was there a few years ago. The parking lot was full for the most part, but it seemed eerily quiet inside. Not sure what that was about. Waitress that waited on my friend and I reminded me of Daria (voice, attitude and appearance). She was very attentive, non the less and brought our food and drinks out timely. I would probably come here again because I really do enjoy the food. Hopefully next visit, the place will be a little bit more lively.

How does smoked duck with feta and carmalized onions on chibatta sound? It sounded great to me and and so I enjoyed a fantastic lunch in Leonardtown. I was Leonardtown to vist the Port of Leonardtown Winery (where I bought a case of wine) and took the recommendation from the Winery for a great place to eat. The food was tasty: I love duck. Only downside was that they were packed full and we had to eat in the bar. The place isn't that big and it was filled to overflowing on a Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in February. I fear that a table may be very difficult to get come summertime. For the time being: eat and enjoy.

A perfect building for a perfectly charming restaurant. With it's sweeping front porch (duh.) and multiple dining rooms, this large house has become a wonderfully appointed dining spot. If the weather permitted, it would be a pleasure to sit on the titular veranda and gaze upon the Leonardtown square on any afternoon. But if the food wasn't good it would merely be a pretty face. I have only enjoyed a few offerings. I have tried are the Crab Dip, which was creamy, crabby and had just enough spice to keep you wanting more. The Cajun Rockfish Sandwich was quite delectable. I also have it on good authority that the Sesame Seed Crusted Tuna is tasty. The prices are also quite reasonable for what will most assuredly be a good meal. If time and money allowed, I would happily eat my way through the rest of the mouth-watering menu.

So disappointed!! I gave 2 stars because the ambiance was nice. It had a very homey feel. The fireplace was a nice touch. Service was ok. I think our server was new because he seemed confused most of the time. My wife ordered the crab cakes. They were ok, but the sauce was so sweet it should have been covering French toast. I ordered the 12 oz steak. It was awful. Just plain awful. It was cooked correctly, but it was surrounded with gristle, tough as shoe leather, and seasoned to within an inch of its life. This is not a lie, but I've gotten better steak at IHOP for a fraction of the cost. Mashed potatoes were completely flavorless. How is that even possible? They literally tasted like nothing. The only vegetable available that day was cooked carrots. I'll give those an average score. Although my wife hated them. My buddy got the salmon and had to salt it a lot to get any flavor. My other buddy got the pork. He said it was ok. This place is entirely overprice for the quality of food. We will not be going back.

Beautiful and comfortable is what earns the two stars, but sorry to say there was nothing good about the food we had. Considering this place is in southern MD the rock fish and MD crab soup should have been delicious.. Not so, the soup was like hot sauce and ketchup water and the fish had no taste. Very disappointing. Service was extremely slow.

Best local restaurant around. We found a second home! Food was great, bar tender and manager very helpful. Ambiance is very home-ie. Great wine list, and a REAL margarita, unlike everywhere else in southern MD. Overall an excellent restaurant, hands-down beats everything on this side of the bridge. I can't wait to try everything else on the menu!

Atmosphere was great. Service was ok for a weekday close to closing time. Shrimp and Grits was fantastic but they undercooked the steak. It was a tender good cut though. Veggies and rice were good

Tucked away in the county seat of Saint Mary's is Leonardtown's The Front Porch, an 1850s-constructed building, also called The Sterling House. Out front is a sign that says it's a "place to dine and unwind" - music to my ears! A group of us walked in for supper and were warmly greeted by the hostess. Seated upstairs in a room with three other tables, you quickly remember that The Front Porch is a house converted to a restaurant and it's really cool to mill around checking each room. We started with apps: their crab dip and Southern pork and beef spring rolls. I was blown away by their crab dip. It's shareable, and it came with plenty of lightly toasted slices of bread. Their spring rolls were so tasty and delicious, I could've just had that for my meal. My friends had the sirloin strip and me, still having a craving for crab had the Rockfish Hemingway, a pan-seared and blackened rockfish topped with a crab cake. My little seafood plate was so delicious, the plate was clean! Now I'm normally not a dessert fan, but I had their bread pudding. It was the perfect end to my meal. Service here was pleasant and came with smiles all around. If you're visiting the southern Maryland area, come 'dine and unwind' at this charming restaurant in Leonardtown.

The cute little house the restaurant resides in gives a very home-y vibe, which is comfortable and friendly. The waitress was nice, although she didn't check in with us often so we say with empty drinks and an uncooked steak for a while. The black bean soup is amazing, and they have delicious bread there. The crab bruschetta was somewhat bland, and they put salt on the center salad which I felt was unneeded and made the salad kind of nasty. Overall okay experience.

I'm a regular here, for both lunch and dinner, and every time is wonderfully great. Service is consistently quick, personable, and sometimes quite extraordinary- you know when you get a hilarious and sassy waiter or a super knowledgeable waitress- and the dining experience is casual, warm, and friendly. Food is DELISH. I got one thing for dinner and I never get anything else now - Rockfish Hemingway is the way to go. Seasonal alcoholic drinks are always interesting and not for the faint of flavor. For lunch, I always go with the quiche of the day (ALWAYS HEAVENLY) and do a side salad with the balsalmic - delicious, fresh, and perfectly crisp. The Front Porch Salad is great as well! I really do love the atmosphere, and the local, fresh, vibe of the food is just what I search for when I try to eat local. Try it out!

Great date spot for this small city. Pricing isn't terrible, and the food is on par. I love the rock fish. The desserts are pricey for the sizes. I've also had the seared salmon which was phenominal. I hear the crab dip is great, so next time I'm visiting my family down there, I will review it!

Visiting here on business and was pointed here by my customer. The facility looks amazing and should have potential. However, I was unimpressed with the "Chilled Seared Tuna Wonton" appetizer. As quickly as it appeared I wonder if it was pre-made well in advance of my arrival. The Wontons that the appetizer were served on tasted stale and were extremely hard to eat, I only had a couple and discarded the rest. The service was ok, but the staff seemed more interested in themselves more than the customers. I may give it another try, but I'm not overly impressed after my first visit.

Hubby and I decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary locally since I'm pregnant. After looking at restaurants, we decided to go with The Front Porch in Leonardtown, MD. We had previously dined in for lunch, but hadn't had dinner so we decided to give it a try. I'm so happy that we chose The Front Porch. Our meal was delicious. We had seared tuna for an appetizer (I only had a bite or two .... ) and it was very good. My husband chose Chicken Chesapeake for his entree and I chose Parmesan Salmon - both were serviced with a starch and a vegetable which happened to be butternut squash and asparagus. My salmon was delicious - I ate every single bite. My husbands chicken was fabulous - he emptied his plate and I thoroughly enjoyed the two or three bites he sent my way. We opted for dessert since it was a special occasion. We chose creme brulee and a piece of cheesecake. The creme brulee was good, but not great. The cheesecake was an extremely small piece and we were shocked that it cost more than the creme brulee. The cheesecake wasn't great and I don't think that I'll opt for the cheesecake again. We would have been better off getting ice cream from the store across the square.

What can I say, they understand us. Everything from fried green tomato with wilted spinach toBLT with fried tomato and avocado sandwich, seared tuna by itself or in a wanton or salad, chicken kabobs, I haven't had a bad dish yet. Wasn't a fan of goat cheese, but it was masterfully prepared. The entire staff is sublime.

I really want to like this place; the house is awesome once belonged to a "county" family and is nicely renovated. But I've been here about four times since it opened, starting around 2009, and things have gone downhill. 1st Visit: Spring, 2009 - ate dinner early with my parents. Remember that it was very nice, leisurely meal and no issues with food. 2nd visit: Summer, 2010 - sat on the porch with other patrons on a summer day with my husband for drinks. It was lovely out, but we had to flag down the waiter and ask if he was still serving new people in order to get him to stop at our table. 3rd visit: Fall, 2011 - I reserved for a party of six friends who hadn't been seen each other in a while. When we arrived, we had a private room but it was dim (no candles) and the table was empty other than a pile of silverware on it. The waiter brought one or two drinks at a time, so some were ordering seconds while others hadn't had their first. He told us he was out of practice waiting tables, but seemed like he was dismissing things rather than apologizing - especially when he presented the bill and my friend's soup appetizer at the same time. Plop: "Oh. And here is your soup." Steak was reported to be good. Crabcakes were mushy and sad. Last visit: Winter, 2012 - A couple months later, my husband and I took my mom there. She treated, which made the experience especially regrettable: she is older and the host (the waiter from the previous visit!) told her there was no where to sit downstairs, and then "No, we like to save those tables in case larger parties come in" when we got upstairs and my mom asked if we could sit at one of the open tables away from a party of 10 starting their night out. We shouted to each other throughout the meal while the empty tables across the room slowly filled up with couples. Our waitress was nice, but was having trouble remembering things (not a huge deal). The spinach dip with nice pita crackers but dip that seemed to be made out of frozen spinach. The meals that were OK but more like $40 OK - not $100+ OK. We left feeling like, "...what just happened?"

The Front Porch is a great place to enjoy a nice meal, especially when the weather is nice. We are relatively new to the area and have found it to be one of the very few good restaurants in Southern Maryland. The staff is always VERY nice and attentive (not sure what the other reviewer are talking about, we've always had an enthusiastic server). I always comment to my husband that I can't believe how nice the waiters always are when we go there. It is a great place to site outside for happy hour drinks on a nice evening or sit near the fire place in the winter. I like that they serve local, grass-fed beef and use local produce when possible. They have great dessert specials and we recently discovered their Wednesday burger specials and live music. Their entrees and salads aren't "OMG THAT WAS AMAZING" but are very good and are some of the best you'll find in Southern Maryland.

Honestly, I wasn't sure what to think. I hadn't looked at the menu or the reviews prior to going, but my beau had received a recommendation and positive remarks about this place. Well, let me tell, this place is amazing, really great! It's an old 1850's house, original to the area. The house itself and the history and beauty in many of the original features of the house were amazing, add in the food and oh yeah! We had the mussels as an appetizer, they were very good. I prefer my mussels in a red sauce, but this white sauce was delicious, the toasted bread was a plus. Then for my meal, I has the New York strip steak, the flavor was beyond what I expected. The house salad was so delicious, I ordered one to go! He ordered a walnut n apple salad that came with salmon and he added tuna, which were both cooked very nicely. I topped it off with death by chocolate for dessert. It had this nice crust on it, like a graham cookie, Oreo type crust. It was hot and it was good. It's a little far out from my house, but frankly, it was well worth the trip. You can walk all over the house, which we did, just checking out the interior details, I mean the pocket doors had to be 9-10 feet tall!!!!!! This a is GO from me!

I LOVE this place!! This is my husband and I's date night go to in the Southern Maryland area. This has to be the best place to go specially for a special occasion. I love the crab dip! It is incredible! Every time we go there, our housemate always asks us to grab him one also! The food selection is great. The desserts are great too! I love the turtle cheesecake! The ambiance is very nice. You do have to climb up a flight of stairs to get to the dining area. There are several dining areas.

Five stars for charming ambience but one star for food. We had a party of five on weeknight that didn't seem busy but so much was wrong. One person asked for mashed potatoes and was given extra heaps of rice instead. Absurd amounts of floppy bacon on the fish plate. Croissants were clearly old and had been reheated and were rock hard on the edges. Waitress brought wrong dressing with salad and instead of just bringing replacement she reached into salad and pulled dressing cup out with her hand all over the lettuce. Gross. She messed up bill and had to redo it- just an overall bad experience. So might be good for just drinks on the porch in summertime where you can enjoy the loveliness of the old house but not have to eat the food.

This was an amazing accidental find. Traffic was awful the other direction, so we wound up in Leonardtown & picked the place with the most Yelp reviews. Our server Brenden knew his stuff & was helpful, but not too helpful. He offered suggestions on drinks & even made an alternate suggestion on a Scotch that my co worker loved! Our meal was outstanding! I had the salmon with crab scampi & the front door salad. I'm from Seattle, and normally wouldn't touch farm raised salmon, but this was awesome. After our meal, we asked if we could wander around looking at historical Sterling House, and Brenden offered to take us on a personal tour. We come this direction on business & we are already planning our visit back!

All foreplay and no... The atmosphere and decor were really nice and the staff was friendly. The food, however, was unappetizing and quite bad actually. It seems all of their plates come with cheesy broccoli. You read that correct-cheesy broccoli. Not sure if that is a Maryland thing or a southern thing but from a place trying really hard to be classy, you get cheesy broccoli in a puddle of green water. The rest of the food is very ho hum.

From our last visit to the Front Porch, we got there early before it filled up so I was able to take a picture of the bar, the cheese plate and a Front Porch salad with salmon that we ordered. I have posted those pictures. I also want to add that I remember when this restaurant first opened as Corbel's. Unfortunately it did not do well and so it closed. I remember that folks mourned the loss of the restaurant and wished that they had gone there more often and supported it. But then, amazingly, it opened again as The Front Porch. Wow. We had a second chance to go. Were we ever thrilled. Still feel that way. I spent some time to write the description below for people who have never visited The Front Porch, and hope that Yelp posts my review (it didn't earlier). I really love this restaurant and believe that it is a way under appreciated. Here are my thoughts: The Front Porch restaurant has character and atmosphere that you won't find in many restaurants because it is in a well restored center hall, high ceiling, century old house. It is not stuffy in any way, but nice, comfortable and relaxed. It has an old banister staircase, at least three fireplaces, and lots and lots of beautiful molding throughout the place with, of course, a huge wrap around porch. Almost makes one feel transported in time. When you walk up "The Front Porch" steps and enter this restaurant, the bar room is on the left. It has an old style classic America bar with lots of dark wood and distinctive old-fashioned ceiling fans. It sort of reminds me of bars you see in old cities. When we do not want a full-blown meal, we like to go there and order wine or beer and a few appetizers (we especially recommend the cheese platter which has a variety of good cheeses, bread and is quite filling). We usually order a bottle of their moderately priced wine, and if we don't finish it, the restaurant is happy to cork/bag our unfinished bottle. If we are in the mood for a full meal, we dine in the room on the right or go upstairs where there is a big long room and a number of smaller rooms. The food is standard American fare and offers a decent variety of moderately priced to pricy items on the menu. We highly recommend getting a Front Porch salad with your entre as this is one of the best salads around. We have even made a meal of it with the addition of salmon - plenty of food and you won't go away hungry. Make sure to ask for bread if the waiter doesn't automatically bring it to your table as they will serve a warm freshly baked mini-loaf. If the weather is nice, we opt to dine on the big porch which wraps around the house. From there, we have a good view of Leonardtown, and feel that we can sit back and watch the world go by. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon or evening. You can't do that just anywhere!

We went here for dinner last week and had the chicken pesto wrap and the rockfish entree...both were delicious! They had live music playing upstairs and our food only took 15 or 20 minutes to come out. We had the jalapeno bacon wrapped shrimp for appetizer, which was good but a very small portion. Would definitely try again!

Last weekend, we ventured over to Leonardtown for a 50's Festival which we realized once we got there was actually taking place two days later. Whoops. But, we were there so we figured we might as well eat. We decided to try out The Front Porch. We had gotten drinks at the bar here before, but never tried the food. The location is a remodeled historic home with a beautiful wrap around porch. If the weather is behaving, drinks and food out on the porch makes for a lovely day. This time, since it wasn't the best weather, we ate inside. The interior is cute and kitschy with antiques decorating the walls. My only complaint about the interior of this restaurant is that, as it is I'm sure with most historic buildings, it's a little grimy and seems like it could use a really deep cleaning. The walls right next to our table were a little dirty which isn't entirely appetizing. An aspect I love about this location is that it is a remodeled historic home which means the restaurant is broken up into rooms. It allows for a more intimate setting and helps keep the noise level down on busier days. The room we sat in had a fireplace, large windows, and about 5-6 tables. It would have been really cozy and lovely on a cold winter night and would be perfect to rent out for a bridal shower or any kind of small event. The service was good; really friendly and enthusiastic. I think we got in there right as they were opening because our food came out really slowly. Once the crowd started to get larger, it seemed like people were getting their food quicker than we did so it might have just been that they weren't ready for us when we showed up. The lunch menu is pretty simple and classic with many American favorites. The specials were a little more unique than the rest of the offers and they were seasonal which is something I always really like. I ordered the grilled chicken and avocado sandwich with a side salad that had raspberry vinaigrette on it and Mike ordered the chicken cobb salad without cheese and with honey mustard dressing on it. We both enjoyed our meals and are freakishly excited to have found a local place that makes a good salad. Both of our chicken was cooked perfectly and the sauce on my sandwich was delicious. I loved that my side salad included feta cheese which you don't see very often in American restaurants. As you can see in the picture, Mike's salad was very fresh and all his veggies were nicely chopped and were perfectly ripe. Our only complaint was that neither of us really liked our salad dressings. His was more like a sauce; in fact I'm pretty sure it was the same sauce found on my sandwich. Mine was far too sweet and didn't have enough oil in it. Overall, our meals were very satisfying, fresh, and nicely cooked. I noticed on the lunch menu, that they do lunch boxes to go which, if we lived closer, is something I'd definitely be tempted to do since they have such good salad and sandwich options. We're both interested to go back for dinner to check out the quality of their higher-end entrees and deserts. (review originally published on bytheforkful.blogspot.com )

The atmosphere in the old Victorian building is the best feature of the restaurant. I have encountered rude and inattentive servers, boring food and a generally lackluster experience. Disappointing. A tough manager might be able to whip the place into shape.

Love this place! My husband and I were here for a light lunch of appetizers the other weekend. The food was fantastic, and so was our waiter! The following week, I came with a friend for the afternoon tea that they have. It was lovely, to say the least. Same excellent waiter as the first time, and the overall experience was fabulous. One of my new favorite places to eat!

My husband and I arrived at about 6pm and were seated on the lower deck as the live band began to play. A glass of pinot grigio went well with all the food, which was also fabulous. The jumbo shrimp with jalapeno, bacon and bbq sauce were not spicy at all and very tasty. The maple salmon salad was really good with the raspberry vinaigrette, and the chicken with scallops and basil on top was absolutely DIVINE with the mashed potatoes and perfect thin-sliced squash and vegetables. The meal was fantastic, and the mood was great until a large party started to assemble outside a little before 7:30. Despite being invited to stay as long as we wanted to listen to the music, my husband and I decided to retreat.

Overdressed and underwhelmed. My husband and I went here for our first date night since our son was born. Lots of people had suggested The Front Porch so we were pretty excited. Folks were in jeans and sweatshirts. The prices didn't match the quality of food. First, we made reservations but they sat walk-ins before us. Someone needs to inform the hostess that's not how it works. Second, we were taken upstairs to a room that had the smallest 2 person table we've seen in a restaurant, which by the way wobbled when you sat down, not even touching the table. Oh and let me mention there was no one else in the room(s). The waitress finally moved us to another table that wobbled just not as bad, but still as small. The upstairs was cold and the bathroom was freezing. Next was the food. The appetizer (pork and beef roll) was really good. I had the Pulled Pork, it was cold and I've had better and the race track; fries were good though. My husband had the filet wrapped in bacon. Let me mention this should have said a slab of cold meat wrapped in fat. No real bacon and the meat came cold and raw. My husband sent it back and all the cook (because he can't be a chef) did was throw the filet on the cook top and heat it. For fear of them doing something to his dinner he ate it but it still was not cooked correctly and any high end restaurant would have given him a new filet. The drink he had wasn't bad. We would go back for the appetizer and drinks but that's it. The decor lacked excitement, especially for a historical home. Sadly disappointed.

The food was very good. The ambiance was rather enchanting. It was a warm and charming alternative to the chain restaurants that are prevalent in the area. The service was good not great but better than most places in southern MD. My husband had the rockfish Hemingway which was delicious. I got the lamb chop special which was small in portion size but big on flavor. We shared bread pudding for dessert, it was good too. We will eat here again. Hope to see you there.

When The Front Porch first opened it had great food at a great price. I used to tell everyone it was my favorite restaurant in Southern Maryland. Sorry to say when we went on Saturday night our whole party was disappointed with our meals. My sisters steak sandwich was overcooked. My brother in laws tuna was overcooked and did not have much flavor My husbands tuna did not have much flavor. I asked the waitress if the crab cakes had a lot of filler and she said no-it was mostly filler and tasted bad. The rolls were burnt on the bottom. Prices seem to have gone up somewhat also so I would expect the food quality would be above par. The manager said they changed chefs 1 1/2 years ago maybe this is why the restaurant has gone downhill. I do not think I will be going back. Two stars may be generous with the quality of food we got and the price we paid.........

The best compliment I can give TFP is that the restaurant itself is a charming and nicely updated historical home. Overall, by SoMD standards, the menu is overpriced. My wife opted to add grilled shrimp to her salad--she was given 3 small shrimp on a side plate at a charge of $4.95. Maybe standard pricing in a major city, not Leonardtown, MD! The food was just average; nothing impressive. Our server was courteous, but service was very slow. I don't plan to go back.

The Front Porch did a wonderful job hosting our 50-people wedding reception. The chef and the staff were very accommodating in preparing for the event. On the day of the event everything went very well -- the food was great, service excellent, wait staff was very attentive and made sure all our guests were well served. The space itself is beautiful -- it's a historic house converted into a restaurant, we didn't need many decorations to make it look beautiful. Thank you, the Front Porch, for our wonderful wedding celebration. Highly recommended.

I'll say it upfront: I'm here to rain on The Front Porch's parade. I'm baffled by the reviews here. I went to TFP expecting true culinary magic and was greeted with mediocre, boring food. The only two things my boyfriend and I enjoyed were the crab dip and croissants. Truth be told, if you screw up crab dip in SOMD, you're likely to be ran out of town within a week, so I wasn't surprised that the crab dip was good. The glaze on the croissants was divine, too. Unfortunately, it all went downhill from there. The alcoholic beverages are weak and uninspired. How can your drinks be "famous" when they taste like drinks you can get at any crappy bar? Disappointing. After the crab dip, I had the garden salad and the BF had the Caesar salad. The garden salad was boring and the Caesar salad was swimming in dressing. We should have known not to order it when we heard the couple at the table across from us complaining about the quantity of dressing. For the main course, the BF chose the Duck Breast which was horribly overcooked. The sauce accompanying the dish helped liven it up a bit, but it wasn't good enough to cover the overcooked duck beneath it. The "Velvet Mashed Potatoes" that accompanied it should instead be called "Dry, Tasteless Mashed Potatoes." I chose the special of the day as my dish, which was a chicken breast stuffed with local spinach and goat cheese. In actuality, I received a chicken breast with one bite's worth of spinach and goat cheese. It was far from stuffed. The rice that accompanied the dish was, surprise, boring and uninspired. For some crazy reason, we thought ordering dessert would be a good idea. Wrong. The peanut butter pie tasted like it was store-bought and the creme brulee was so poorly executed, it could hardly be called creme brulee. Do yourself a favor and go visit CD Cafe on Solomon's instead.

Good food. Service was a little slow. The server appeared to have too many tables. But our party of 4 all enjoyed their meals. Nice atmosphere.

I'll admit I'm a little biased because as a resident of Leonardtown, I really want TFP to succeed. My wife, daughter, and I have been to TFP about a hundred times. We really love it when the weather is nice enough to dine on the front porch but also the bar, lounge, and the fire place are cozy when it's cold outside. The service at TFP is outstanding. Servers and management are always quite accommodating, especially to our 6 year old daughter. The wine selection is good particularly for southern Maryland. TFP's drawback is food that is only slightly above average. It's all good but not great and the menu hasn't changed much in years. Occasionally they have an interesting special. Prices are as one would expect.

I used to love this restaurant. We looked forward to going back for a year and a half, when we were away from the area. When we finally returned... what a disappointment. On the plus side, the ambiance is great. We had two appetizers I really enjoyed, a shrimp bruschetta and a crab dip. And the steak sandwich is a good deal, even if it was overcooked. On the negative side, some of the meals were terrible, and the prices were super-high for what was offered. The menu was very limited, some of our favorite meals were no longer offered. There has apparently been a new chef since I last visited, and I hope that a new new chef will come in soon, so I can go back to a restaurant I used to love.

I was really hoping I would be the first to yelp The Front Porch but I will settle for second.....JUST this time, Bill Z, just this time. Anyway, yay! I'm a fan! I went to this restaurant when it was still Corbels and it was entirely too expensive and the New Year's Eve dinner made me throw up for three days straight. Needless to say, I wasn't a huge fan of Corbels although not every experience there was terrible...just hard on my pocketbook. Now back to the matter at hand. The Front Porch is far better than its predecessor! I sat on the front porch (how novel) and basked in the beautiful Southern Maryland fall weather while listening to Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and such. A little hokey? Yes. But pleasant none the less. My mother and I ordered a bottle of watermelon wine from Solomon's Winery. This bottle came at the mere cost of $14 and, while I'm not so sure I'll try it again because it was too sweet for my liking, it was a pleasant experiment. The menu selection was impressive but I finally settled on the sesame crusted tuna with cilantro lime wasabi sauce and fresh green beans preceded by a deliciously fresh salad and croissant which made my belly beam with buttery happiness. The tuna was perfectly seared and the cilantro lime wasabi was delicious. The only thing I can say about it is that the sesame seeds and sauce overwhelmed the taste of the tuna. It almost could have been better only half crusted. Or quarter crusted or not crusted at all....and I'm sure it can be made to order. Unfortunately I did not try dessert. The options were bread pudding, new york style cheesecake, chocolate volcano cake, and creme brulee. Had there been any slightly adventurous desserts I probably would have tried them. The best part was, the bill came out to less than $100 for four people and a bottle of wine. Not too shabby, Front Porch....not too shabby.

Love the Front Porch. Located in the heart of old Leonardtown, it is a great place to sneak away with friends for drinks and dinner. The food is usually good, though I haven't had it very often, I am usually there for the drinks. The atmosphere is fantastic, especially during the summer.

I love this place!!! Where do I begin...I will make it short and simple! Crab Cakes were amazing. Sweet Tea was PERFECT. Cesear Salad was Fresh and delicious! Prices are very reasonable for the quality you are getting. Staff is happy and friendly. Bathrooms and Restaurant is spotless. Ambiance is warm and welcoming and fun. I really wish I lived closer...this would definitely be my favorite restaurant!!! Unfortunately the day I went it was 100 degrees out, but lovely outdoor seating if the weather permits!
