Jerry's is exactly what I've been looking for all my life! This was my first visit and of course I had the infamous crab bomb. My boyfriend had a pound of steamed shrimp. Both meals were awesome! The shrimp was seasoned to perfection. And I like that they keep a can of old bay on the table if u feel that you need more. The crab bomb was 10 oz, and was made spicy for me using black peppercorn and dry mustard I think is what the waitress said. It was picture perfect and tasted out of this world. With it I had the baked potato and green beans which were the vegetable of the day. My only complaint is that I wish they had more vegetables instead of having to settle for a vegetable of the day. The sides selection was weak and I'm really into my sides. Check out my pics. Can't wait to go again!

The original owner was Jerry who wanted to retire. The new and current owner, his nephew, promised to pay Jerry for the business.......it was to be his retirement and his wife's healthcare. The nephew soon reneged on the deal and stopped his payments. Worse he left his own Aunt's healthcare lapse! Jerry was forced out of retirement to survive, and provide for his ailing wife who later died of cancer. I'm glad you like the food but is it worth it knowing how the owner treats his own family? Want to meet the "real Jerry"? Jerry's Seafood in Prince Frederick. RM

If you have the money, then you must try this place! We were greeted by some of the most delicious homemade rolls I have ever tasted. I went with a friend, and I started with the cream of crab soup. It was so rich and full of real crab meat. I could have left the restaurant completely satisfied after that, but I ordered the scallop entrée. My friend ordered the crab cakes. ALL of our food was served completely hot and fresh. After tip, my bill came to $100.00, but I will do it again as soon as I can!

As a native Washingtonian and Marylander I "possibly" have high standards for my crab! (I absolutely DO NOT want any filler or too much batter in my crab cakes/crab bombs) The Crab Bomb at Jerry's Seafood is ALWAYS EXQUISITE!! LOL!! I EVEN have occasional withdrawals once I have not dined here for awhile!!! SIDE EFFECTS CONSIST OF: Constant mental imagery of Jerry's crab bomb and a mouth watering/drool effect that does not decrease until I am able to enjoy and devour a Jerry's Crab Bomb Meal! I've never had an experience at Jerry's Seafood Restaurant where the food AND service was not A+!

This place was a great Yelp find! The crab cake was amazing-lots of crab and seasoned perfectly with plenty of old bay. Baked to perfection, I'm not sure what they use to bind the thing together but I didn't spy any filler in my huge ball. The crab cake comes with two sides-I tried the baked potato (pretty standard) and the side salad( fresh with cherry tomato and carrots and mixed greens). The homemade dressing that accompanied the salad was chock full of blue cheese and really thick which I liked. The dressing and sour cream for the potatoes were served on the side so you can portion out what you want- I love places that don't drown your salads! Some might think the prices are steep but I think for the size of the crab cake, plus the two sides and bread it's a great value. Good portions and good food. The 'baby' crab cake was more than enough for me!

Awesome place for crab!! All crab, no filling!! Spiced up just right. Service is very good and the coleslaw was exceptional. Had the calamari and shrimp appetizers, both were very good. Would HIGHLY recommend. Only down side was the price, but you get what you pay for.

This is a totally unassuming, hidden gem in the suburbs of Maryland. The decor is very basic, maybe a step below an Applebee's. BUT...the food is absolutely amazing! You come here for one reason and one reason only, and that is the crab. I posted a couple of pictures to show how much you get for a really, really decent price. Jerry's claim to fame is called "The Crab Bomb". They come in two sizes, 6oz (baby bomb) and 10oz (crab bomb). There is absolutely nothing in these bombs but big, huge, juicy crabmeat. No bread, no filler. Just a touch of sauce to hold it all together. What you spend $35 for here you would easily pay $60+ at a fine restaurant. The crab bisque also comes loaded with nuggets of succulent crab meat. When I first got my bowl, I thought it was oyster crackers on top. Nope, crab, crab and more crab. Service is friendly and pretty efficient.

I am a stickler for great customer service and Jerry's never disappoints in that area!! On my latest visit to Jerry's our waitress was great: very attentive, professional and knowledgeable of the menu items. The food is always simply delicious!!!! I always order the babybomb, cream of crab soup, salad and baked potatoe. The babybomb is nothing but sweet broiled crab meat, no filler whatsoever! and it's always seasoned to perfection with Old Bay. I like to squeeze some fresh lemon over my bomb..it just gives it that extra kick of flavor :) Their blue cheese dressing and cream of crab soup is by far the BEST I've ever had. Unfortuantely I was too stuffed to order dessert on this visit but trust me, their coconut cake is DEVINE!!!

i came here because my friend was raving about it food: crab bomb-its big lump of crab, no filler and it was good! stewed tomatoes-excellent, i have never had this item before and i was very pleasantly surprised fries-good portion/price: this is something to be worked on, imho. we split the entree b'c it was $35 and it just about filled us up. i was hoping to get dessert but the waitress steered us toward lemon pound cake which was not available service: it was ok , i got the vibe that we were being rushed out overall: glad for the experience, a bit of a drive from dc but good food finds can be anywhere, i would recommend but be aware of the steep price

An orgasm on a plate. Seriously. This crabcake (known here as the "Crab Bomb") is absolutely amazing. It's expensive ($35 for one crabcake) but worth every penny. It's a huge crabcake which i presume is broiled. Once you break through the outer layer, you're met with huge lumps of crab held together with a creamy, flavorful mixture and not a BIT of filler. NONE. Its one of those meals that you want to enjoy alone so you arent distracted by mindless banter. Its just that you have to concentrate on the Crab Bomb so you can appreciate how truly delectable it is. Wow.

Just TWO words Firecracker Bomb! it is the crab bomb but spicy. OK in town for work and the think tank group I was with was less than exciting. Our business coordinator set up our meals for the 2 nights we were there. TO my complete disappointment, he selected chain restaurants for the two nights. One a tex-mexican restaurant, and the other an Italian chain restaurant. Now at dinner the first night, my fellow companions would not stop talking shop so I really didn't want to say anything. The coordinators of the department for the reason we were on this trip asked me what I thought of the food. Well I was honest and was also drinking Heineken's and was on my 4th or so, side comment none of these other 5 people drank. I tell him it is OK but I would never pick it to eat. I'm not a super fan of Tex-Mex restaurants and most especially one that is a chain. I go on to say that I thought the restaurant choices were beyond disappointing and I could go to any of these restaurants anywhere in America, like it Pittsburgh! He then asked what I wanted... Um where are we? Oh yes Baltimore! And what is Baltimore known for? What's that you say? CRAB?! I said isn't there some local place that specializes in a known Baltimore staple??? My fellow travelers didn't seem to care either way so I kept being the squeaky wheel, and he suggested Jerry's Seafood. Honestly I don't know if this place is a chain but I certainly have never heard of it, nor did my fellow travelers. we get to Jerry's and here is what I can tell you 1. Not terribly busy, we went on a Tuesday night, but service was SLOW! I waited 10 minutes to get my beer, however the other people at my table got their soda's and sweet teas a bit quicker. At the end of our meal we were all waiting for the check and no one came over. I actually went to find the waiter who was BS-ing with another waitress, and said can we get our check??? 2. The food was FABULOUS! I mean at least that Firecracker bomb is! No fillers all delicious buttery crab with some spice... It was dreamy. My group ordered a few appetizers to share. None of them really struck me to be that great. Usual fried food that probably came out of a frozen bag and dropped into the fryer. The other entrees also looked good and everyone seemed to enjoy their meal. 3. the atmosphere was nice and clean and inviting 4. OK the place is very pricey! Since it was a work function I didn't pay so I can't complain about it, but honestly if I did I probably wouldn't go here much more than once a year as a treat. My entree was $40.00, not to mention appetizers and drinks. but lucky for the company no one else (besides me) was having a libation, so overall I think our tab was about $400.00... If I am ever back in the area I think I would definitely go to Jerry's again, I just hope I am on another business trip if I do!!:)

The crab bisque was heaven! Then came the Crab Bomb. We split the original and the firecracker. Both were delicious. The original was so sweet and delicious and the firecracker had just a touch of heat. Our server was amazing. This is a place I will visit again.

This is the original hole in the wall Jerry's with amazing crab! If you are looking for fine dining and fancy, this is not for you. If you are looking for amazing seafood with no fillers and worth the price, look no further. Live in Virginia, and have yet to find a crab cake that compares the their "crab bomb". Just about everything here is amazing!

The CRAB BOMB is the best crab cake I've ever had...in my life!!! This coming from a native Marylander! It's a softball size crab cake that can be fried or broiled and has NO filler...just scrumptious crab throughout. The only issue I have with Jerry's is the price. It will set you back $34 smackeroos to get your paws around this crab cake. I mean, it's literally THE BOMB CRAB BOMB, but dag...$34 though? Don't get me wrong, having a crab cake that doesn't have a pound of filler or shells in it is worth it's weight in gold, but still not sure that weight should cost $34. I'm just saying! It's not a place you would want to go to on a regular basis or with a group because you would be broke. The side dishes are rather unmemorable and I couldn't tell you anything about any of the other menu items because all I ever get when I come here, is the Crab Bomb. Actually, I'm not even sure if they have other entrees at Jerry's...I have tunnel vision for the Crab Bomb! LOL This is the original location and the decor is pretty straight to the point. No frills. Don't worry, they saved the frills, chills and thrills for the Crab Bomb! Give it a try and attempt to say it's not the best crab cake you've ever had. Go on...I dare you!

I'm not a big seafood eater, but when I do eat seafood, it's got to be fresh and prepared well. Jerry's is, by a wide margin, one of the BEST seafood restaurants in the Washington, DC area. While others have raved about the crab bomb, I'm not a crab eater. My dish is the fried shrimp which always taste like they jumped from the ocean into Jerry's kitchen and onto my plate. Delicately battered and fried, the shrimp to batter ratio is fantastic - you never lose the shrimp in the crunchy stuff. The serving size is more than enough, especially with the sides. their baked potatoes are done well, the potato wedges are really good and their fresh salad is a great way to start dinner. I don't eat bleu cheese, but heir homemade dressing is apparently outstanding. Whatever you do, either save room for dessert or get it to take home. When they have it, the coconut cake and chocolate cake are both yummy. The wait staff are attentive and give you room between each course. The hours are a bit odd, so make sure you check before going. Enjoy

There are few things in this world that are simple yet fantastic. The Crab Bomb at Jerry's Seafood is just such a dish. I cannot recommend it more highly. Do yourself a favor and go taste this dish. By the way, the manager Rich is a great host. You can tell him I said so!

Crab bomb Baaaaaaaby! Get the firecracker bomb. No filling all crab meat with a pepper kick to it. Squeeze the lemon on it to give it a lil twist

  • Love to T.

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. This place is expensive and after receiving over $100.00 worth of food the manager Rich came to my table and told me and my guest that we had to leave. He also stated that he had been waiting over 45 minutes for us to leave because the restaurant closes at 230pm. He was extremely offensive and rude. I would have appreciated it so much to be told this prior to me placing my order. But to take my order, deliver my food, and not allow me enough time to eat was terrible. Rich was such a mean Manager, and he lacked customer service skills. I will never return nor would I refer this establishment to an animal shelter. The restaurant itself was slightly dated, dismal and unappealing.

We decided to have a family dinner at Jerry's because all six of us love crab cakes. None of us had been there before, it was a recommendation of a colleague. When we got to the restaurant, the decor was a bit disappointing. It is really not a very nice place, and it is hidden in a strip mall. But we were there for the food. We shared the two crab dip appetizers, and they were very generous with the crab meat. We each ordered the crab bomb, some of us spicy and some not. The regular crab bomb is a bit bland in taste. We agreed that the crab cakes were good but not extraordinary. We all had had better. The salads were okay, the stewed tomatoes a bit bland. The rolls were tasty and fresh out of the oven. The price was steep. Afterwards we all agreed this was okay for a one time experience but we won't be back. At that price you want an around good experience. The service was excellent though.

Everyone has heard about the "Maryland Crab Cake." Forget what you've heard! Take it from your buddy Bryan. Go to Jerry's. When you are handed the menu, simply smile and hand it back. Order the Maryland Crab Soup and a Crab Bomb. You'll wake up with a smile. And a strong urge to thank me.

This place is nothing short of incredible. The bisque a are the best I have ever had, 'The Bomb' was amazing and the crab dip was very complimentary to the rest of the meal. At first I thought it seemed pricey, but we walked out thinking it was well worth it!

I came here on my Birthday and it was long overdue. The Crab Bomb is everything you have read about on this site. One commentor mentioned the ambiance? Who gives a damn about ambiance when the food is this good. Only someone who is affected by the fake bourgeoisie attitude that has permeated this city, geesh lol. I can't wait to go back, loved it.

In a few simple words; way overpriced for what they are offering but tasty. In many words; my dad and I were spending a few days touring around DC so we stayed in Cheverly to save some cash. The concierge told us about Jerrys and said they had the best seafood in the area, however the ambiance left a little something to be desired. No fooling. The woman at the front door did not come across as friendly when we walked in, just said "two?". Uh, yes, dinner for two please, thank you. The room is just that, a room. With some paintings scattered on the wall and diner-esque tables. The bread, delicious! The service, ok. More like an order taker, than a sales pitch. We were told the features and she helped us make our decisions, she clearly knew the menu well. I got the crab stuffed shrimp which came with a salad (boring, reliable dinner salad) and I chose a side of veggies. This place is famous for their crab bombs, which they offer in two sizes and two flavor profiles, regular and spicy. This is what they stuff into to shrimp, I chose both flavors and while it was tasty, it was loaded with butter and cream and so heavy I couldn't finish the whole thing. While we were eating the room began to empty and our waitress started doing her closing side work which consisted of her cleaning and refilling the salts and peppers on each table with a not so nice looking rag- gross. It was only about 9 o'clock and the place was almost empty and she didn't think to wait the extra 20 minutes? For the prices we paid, I would appreciate more than diner quality service. Even if Im ever in cheverly again, I highly doubt I would return.

I'm all for trying really good authentic food in a dive location, but I wasn't impressed. The inside was definitely better than the outside location. The service was good, but the crab bomb was not for my palate. It seemed to be well seasoned, but tasted bland and watery. I am not a picky eater and maybe this crab is for people who want something different and maybe different didn't work for me.

There's a reason why their cakes are labeled "bombs" and you got to try one! Went here for lunch and was greeted nicely with a smile by everyone. Phil (I assume the owner) opened the door for us and rushed the order for us to dine in order to get back to work on time! (THANKS PHIL!) Got the baby bomb and thought the price of $26 and your choice of two sides (plus bread upon waiting for your dish) was a splendid price. Got the apple sauce and it was delicious as well as the baked potato. Photo of the feast will be uploaded. Parking was plentiful and the staff is extremely helpful in case you feel overwhelmed! Would go here again for lunch AND dinner!

The Crab Bomb/Baby Bomb will probably be the best version of crabcake you'll ever have...(I'm drooling, just thinking about it). Warning: it's pretty big so you might have to opt for the Baby Bomb if you want to try an appetizer or eat other sides. My friends and I also tried the crab bisque soup which was tasty, but it didn't blow me away. The sides are just standard, nothing really stood out. The inside decor was a bit tacky for my taste, but it does have a unique dive-y feel to it. Overall, Jerry's Seafood is a great hole-in-the-wall seafood restaurant and I'm excited to get my friends to try it out. (+) Crab Bomb/Baby Bomb... get it! GET IT NOW.

So sue me! This place has been a staple in the community for eons and I'm just now getting a chance to visit. It wasn't all I had hoped for or expected. The restaurant is extremely small, even down to the restroom. The food was ok. I didn't order the popular crab bomb. I went for a more traditional (and greedy) approach and got the platter. Everything was very tasty except for the green beans. Someone missed the measuring mark on the salt. Not a total bust, I would visit again.

Decided to come here to beat the mother's day rush for my grandma because she's obsessed with this place. I on the other hand wasn't too impressed. Sure it's tiny in there but not too big of a deal, the service was excellent and everything was clean. SO what's the problem?! WELL the menu was just so...small. i get that sometimes a smaller menu makes it easier so the chefs can take more time in preparing the food but there just wasnt enough variety for me. I love seafood and i wish they had taken a bit more of a risk on the entree menu. Nevertheless i had the jumbo fried shrimp with wedges and i was indeed full but felt like i was missing something...o well. A nice spot to come too every now and then but eh...i've had better.

Jerry's Seafood does not look like a restaurant that would strike me with great food and friendly service, but this is the perfect example of "don't judge a book by its cover." A very nice and dim setting, and an enthusiastic wait staff. The Crab Bomb here is delicious-- generous portion and very fresh. I promise it is not over-hyped, because it is that good. The crab dip is a little too heavy on the cream, but I enjoyed it. For $14, I thought there would be more crab meat in it, but I was too excited for my Crab Bomb to care.

The spicy "crab bombs" are fantastic. Unfortunately on multiple occassions after ordering holiday meals to be shipped our credit cards were subjected to fraudulent charges. This is probably not a coincidence!

Hands down the best crab cake (crab bomb) I've ever had. This year I've made it a goal to find another restaurant who can make a better crab cake and so far there have been none! Although they may be good, Jerry's is the best because they use absolute no filler. It's seasoned perfectly. Also, their cream of crab soup and their friend shrimp are just as good. If you eat here, you will go back for sure!

    (5)
  • Bob S.

The Crab Bomb has to be the best crab cake I've ever had. It's a meal in itself. But, I tried one of their soups for the first time. For a place like this, I'm thinking that $8 for a cup of soup is a bit excessive. But then when the soup arrived, I understood. The small cup of soup contains a fistful of crabmeat in it. Every time I'm in the area, I drop by.

Oh, Oh, Jerry's... I'm not a crab fanatic because I didn't originally come from this urrea, however, lots of people do. And for those people, I guess, Jerry's makes since. For me to pay DC prices for a restaurant located in the strip mall of lanham is kinda ridiculous. You get no ambiance and no brownie points for taking your girl to a really expensive place. The food was okay. Just okay. I had the orange roughy with crab imperial (the special for the day) and no one said the special was $46. For one piece of fish and a baked potato! Come on son! DH got the crab bomb and it was less of a bomb and more like a firecracker? If the bomb was to refer to the taste is was ok. If the bomb was to refer to the size that was just okay to. I assume the bomb was referring to the cost which was like $35. Again...come on son! Don't waste your time or money until the prices reflect not only the food but the dining experience. If I'm paying a hundie for dinner for two, there needs to be some slow singing and flower bringing. This place was overall underwhelming and significantly over priced. Go to McCormick and Schmidt's, Ruth Chris, or somewhere else that is not named after a sub shop if you want to enjoy eating your money.

  • Jerry M.

Very nice seafood restaurant. The menu needs to be expanded a little, not a great vegetarian selection. However, the few items on the menu are well executed. The bread was hot and the butter cold. Service was well above average. The prices were fair. The atmosphere and lighting was appropriate. You wouldn't expect to find such a nice restaurant in such an inconspicuous location.

I was staying near the New Carrolton train station Jerry's showed up on the Yelp seafood search. I'm not from around here and cannot comment if it is 'authentic' or 'typical' Maryland style but as a tourist wandering through I found the Crab Bomb and crab soup fantastic and I would go back. BTW - stay near New Carrolton station, take the MARC train into DC, and spend the money you save eating Crab Bombs at Jerry's.

The neighborhood has seen better days but the seafood has never been better. I always eat a Crab Bomb at Jerry's when I'm on this side of the beltway. Frequented by suits and casual dressed office workers at lunch.

I've eaten at Jerry's for many years. I've eaten so many Crab Bombs, my reincarnation maybe a crab. Jerry menu has only a few entrees compared to most seafood restaurants. If you're looking for an inexpensive dish here, you can forget it. There's no appetizer below $15 and his entrees are no less than like $35. Compared to Mo's in Baltimore, G & M or Timbuktu Seafood. Jerry gives you less seafood but more tastier dishes. The next stop for me will be Faidley in Baltimore. People are swearing by the jumbo lump crab cake and fresh oysters. And considering the price is $13 for a jumbo lump crab cake compared to Jerry's $35 for their same size Crab Bomb. I think it'll be worth the extra 20 minute drive.

Here's the gist of it: I have wanted to come to Jerry's for a while now to eat their much touted crab bomb. Finally, I got a chance to eat there. Was the crab bomb good? Yes. Was it the iconic experience that many have described? I would have to say, "no." My overall impression is that Jerry's is just overpriced for what they do. At $34, the crab bomb is good (very good with its lump crab meat), but I've had similarly good crab cakes elsewhere (especially, on the Eastern Shore and around the Bay). Granted, I did not have the true "bomb" because the waiter brought me two baby bombs rather than the single 10 oz. crab bomb. Interestingly, he said that he did not want me to wait too long. What happened? Were the crab bombs still in the oven and indisposed. Odd. Anyway, he brought me out two baby bombs (6 oz. each). The summative effect was that I did not get to dive into the larger crab cake and missed the "wow" of eating such a big pile of crab; but, the baby bombs are made of the same crab and are made with the same recipe. It was ever so slightly "crispy" on the outside from baking for a short while in the oven, and the inside was moist and slightly creamy from the mix of lump meat (no filler) and their crab seasoning. I ate the bomb with a light dusting of Old Bay seasoning, and that really made for a delicious bite each time. They serve homemade rolls with a wonderful sweet cream butter on the side (slightly salted). Diners get two sides with their entree; I chose the steamed broccoli and the side salad. The salad was fresh, but it did not have croutons (which I asked for and they gave me on the side). The croutons struck me as being homemade, which was a nice touch. The portion size of the steamed broccoli was rather small considering that I was paying $34. There were five little spears (not the long spears that I have had in many other restaurants--like Outback, for instance). We also had originally ordered the fried oysters ($31), but the server said that they did not have any. That was a disappointment. I wonder how many oysters we would have gotten for that price and how good they would have been. Because of the price, Jerry's is not a place that I would go to often. I am a believer that restaurants should offer the lowest prices possible in order to put their food in a comfortable and reachable range. If the food is good, people will become regulars. That's how restaurants can make up for the fact that they have offered a "low price." For me, their food is just not affordable on a regular basis. As a foodie of not immodest means necessarily, Jerry's just strikes me as a once-in-a-blue moon type of place that serves good but overpriced food. Fried haddock is $23 and fried shrimp is $32...It just strikes me as a bit outlandish for where and who they are. There are some first-rate and expensive seafood restaurants in and around Annapolis, along the western Bay, around Solomons Island, over in the Eastern Shore in Queen Anne's County, Talbot County, further afield, in Crisfield and Ocean City...I guess, at least, I saved on the gas money and tolls.

Jerry's is on the top of my list of favorite restaurants and I love this place. For those of you who think the prices are a little steep, you get what you pay for and it's worth every single penny. Their food is amazing and the Crab Bomb is often imitated but sure can't be duplicated. It's not your typical crab cake - it's the bomb!! The service is excellent and it's not uncommon for the owner or manager to come out, talk, smile, and just touch base with you. I love the Lanham place better than the Bowie location, but the food is fabulous no matter where you go.

First off. Great service. The waitress was really nice, smiled and just a pleasure. I ordered the crab bomb, of course, and loved it. No complaints. I also had the roasted squash and zucchini. I asked for the veggies to be well done, and they didn't come back that way. However, the waitress sent the order back, and the manager brought my food back and told me what he did and they were cooked exactly the way I wanted. Again, great service. The veggies were seasoned perfectly and tasted very fresh. Yes, this place is pricey, but worth it. Oh, and of course, a brotha gotta have his iced tea with the big lemons and a lot of 'em. No problem!! Place was comfortable and a chill environment. Yeah, the spot is in a raggedy strip mall, but inside is what counts. W00t!

"Sir, we believe that Dr. Sinister has a new weapon of mass destruction. It appears to be some sort of CRAB Bomb. We have top men trying to figure out what CRAB stands for. They seem to be operating through a front corporation called Jerry's Seafood" Like many other 'neighborhood' Maryland restaurants, Jerry's decor and wait staff seem to be magically trapped in the 1980s. Ambiance can best be described as 'paneling and drop ceiling' and the furniture as 'functional and made of vinyl'. But what you're really here for is crab. The Crab Bomb is a must-experience dish. It's basically a pile of jumbo lump crab meat that somebody whispered the word 'binder' to, broiled, and stuck on a plate. It's also $30, but it is, indeed, that good. Once you've bombed yourself, you may want to go back and try the traditional crab cake - it's also very good. Be warned - there are big lines to get in here around weekday lunchtime (the office crowd) and on weekends. No reservations taken, just suck it up like everyone else.

The crab bomb is literally "the bomb".....delicious! Unfortunately I only order food here once or twice per year because the prices are ridiculous. Also, we must order for take out because the space is cramped and uncomfortable. They need to consider remodeling or moving to a better space.

Nice restaurant. Crab bomb is amazing. Just hope this restaurant might have been in a better location.

Ok, so I have been back at least three more times since my original review. Every time I have had a variation of the bomb, either the full bomb, baby or as a firecracker. You really just can't go wrong. Most recently my dining mate and I got creative and agreed to split a bomb and try try the fried shrimp as well. My friends, this is no ordinary fried shrimp. These babies were huge, plump, juicy and lightly battered and fried. A++. The house salad and the house dressing is still a must for one of the sides. I usually also get the fresh vegetable of the day and the past several times it was fresh broccoli with some (montreal steak style) seasoning. We ordered coffee last visit and were told a fresh pot was a-brewing. My only complaint is the entrees come out too fast; I am still typically enjoying my salad.... slow down the pacing a bit...

Blah, blah, blah...hidden gem in Lanham...I understand why it is so hidden. It is in a skanky strip mall...next to a drive-thru liquor store and a place that you can buy some fake hair...you cannot miss it-just look for the tacky home printer signs on the door...No, really, this is the place. You will be greeted by the old 1952 row boat salad bar (no longer used for salads, but a kitschy menu holder). Ask for the table in front of the kitchens near the bathrooms and the waitstation as it really adds to the air of downright Zagat's rated dining. Top service? Nope. Overpriced? Yep Portions good? Eh...not worth $38.00 or more Best Crab Cakes? Nah...have had better at dives that have no problem calling themselves dives. For the amount that they are charging for food, they should really spend some money on the decor. What a disappointing dinner and experience. What a sad state of affairs in Lanham!

Stop here from FL to NYC, looking for a good meal. Order the blacken salmon, it is one of the best salmon I ever at a restaurant, the vegetable is fresh too and friendly staff.

Good food, good service. I had the rock fish with topped with the bomb? Whatever it was, it was amazing. I wasn't event that hungry when I went but ended up cleaning my plate. The fish and crab tasted so fresh (in a good way!). It definitely was not like those hard slabs of fish that you tend to get on the east coast (even in relatively upscale places). I had a side salad and apple sauce as my sides (never had apple sauce as a side before so this was a bit different.) The decor/ambience is nothing to write home about but the food more than made up for it. I suppose the lack of decor gave it a more laid-back, homey feel - who knows. The place was a bit hard to find - it's in one of the outdoor shopping areas where you wouldn't usually expect to find a restaurant

This is our second visit within 2 years. The food is way overpriced & really bad! I had the Haddock- it was over-cooked & stringy. My husband had the salmon- it was mediocre, at best. My first glass of wine was sour- I asked them to open a fresh bottle. This is a classic example of a restaurant living on its reputation from the bygone days. Having grown up in this area, I remember when it used to be good. How dare they charge these outrageous prices for a run down space with crappy food? I think the reason people come here, is because the portions are ridiculously humongous. They try to make up for their lack of quality with quantity.

If you care about SUPERB crab and really friendly service, Jerry's is it and a pleasant surprise from most restaurants in the suburban MD-DC area. If decor and location are important to you, I understand, but you'll be missing out on the best crab you've ever had. The crab dip and the Crab Bomb are indescribably delicious. I made a trip from my home in Seattle to take my mom here for Mother's Day -- surprisingly I lived within a few miles of Jerry's for almost 25 years, driving by it regurlarly, and never tried it. I wish now that I had frequented it more often when I lived in Lanham.

Poor service and the interior I passed off for being quirky in the past is downright dingy and dusty. They are opening a new location in Bowie, MD. Hopefully interior will be better. The broccoli side dish I raved about in the past came out soggy and just plain old yucky. I no longer recommend this place.

There is absolutely no better crab cake in the world. It is 100% crab, no fillers, a little egg to hold the crab together. I have had crab cakes in many D.C. high class and low class restaurants, and I guarantee that there is none better. You get two sides, try the blue cheese slad dressing. Could not finish the 12 oz crab cake called "the bomb", took the balance home and the waiter added a entire baked potato even though I had eaten the one served. Great service. The decor in Bowie is 100% better then the one in Lanham, but the food is the same. The smaller averion of the bomb is 8 oz compared to 12 and is equally good.

Like others, we started the meal with the Firecracker Crab Bomb. Unbelievable and spectacular! I've had crab cakes from Portland (Maine), Boston, Baltimore, and down the eastern seaboard. I've never had a better crab cake! The Atlantic Salmon (you choose how it is prepared) was fresh and a large portion. The Scallops are succulent, large (about the size of a golf ball), and very satisfying. The Good: Everything we ate was perfectly prepared, fresh, and tasted great. The servers were prompt and very friendly. The Bad: The Crab Bomb is $32 and entrees are $25-35, which is a little pricey, and the ambiance is simplistic. These are the only reasons I did not give 5 stars. The Ugly: Situated in a less than desirable location, you may feel like "packin' a .45 in case you need to bust a cap". Still, if I lived within 10 miles (instead of living in Colorado), I would eat here often.

I would rate Jerry's a 5* just for the Crab Bomb b/c its thats GOOD! But, Jerry's sides are Whack! They are very basic and tend to be tasteless. Sides include, mixed vegetables, applesauce, baked potato, french fries and you can order a salad as well. Be prepared to pay some dough b/c crab meat aint cheap yall! The Crab Bomb is $34 and the "Baby" Crab Bomb is about $29. The Crab Bomb is full of lump crab meat so its well worth the money! The Lanham and Bowie locations are very casual, so if you just want to grab a quick dinner then go to these locations. The Jerry's in Annapolis (my fav) is more contemporary dining, modern white leather chairs, white curtains, lots of candles and even a rooftop bar and terrace so if you want to make your dining into more an evening out or celebration I would recommend going to Annapolis. Although I only go to Jerry's for the Crab Bomb, I have sampled other dishes with my friends. Calamari (good) Crab Dip (just okay... too cheesy) , Sea Bass (great), Stuffed Shrimp (good) Mini Crab Balls (good), Fried Platter (good if you like beer battered fried seafood).

I visited Jerry's again last night (been a regular on special occasions for umpteen years) and just when you think it can't get any better, it DOES. No matter how wonderful I remember the crab bomb to be, it never fails to be even BETTER when I'm there! Rich and all the staff make us feel at home -- where the blue cheese and Russian dressings are clearly made. Every time I TRY not to eat too much awesome bread and butter or my salad -- which couldn't be more simply good -- I end up with leftovers from the ultimate crab bomb. But, truth be told, I don't mind and would NEVER consider the baby bomb -- because the leftovers make the most awesome crab omelet the next morning (which I clearly just enjoyed). Don't hesitate to try it -- you won't be disappointed.!

Wow. A couple months ago I spoke with a bartender that works here (I met him at his other job) and he told me about the Crab Bomb since I work just a few minutes from the restaurant. It sounded great. I was ecstatic to find out that when we get a new contract at work, the boss orders a Crab Bomb for everyone in the office and we have a nice lunch in the conference room. I had no idea it was going to be sooooo good. Since I've moved to Maryland in early June, I've tried just about every crab concoction that is offered, from Cream of Crab to Crab Cobb Salads, Crab Maki to a dozen straight-up larges at Cantler's. I have to tell you though that, purely on a taste level, Jerry's Crab Bomb takes the "crab CAKE" as the best tasting crab creation I've had since I hit the state. Now there's plenty of other places around that I've yet to try but I feel lucky to know about Jerry's in it's little dumpy strip mall (sorry if that offends). Also, the blue cheese dressing for our salads must have been homemade, too thick to pour but really good. Being a Buffalo, NY native, I appreciate my blue cheese (even more so with wings on the side). Beyond that, the sides were just OK. The roll was fine, the baked potato a big "whatever" -- but that's sort of the point when you have that gigantic ball of lump crab deliciousness sitting in front of you. Don't judge a book by it's cover and get into Jerry's for a "crab cake experience!"

I'm a skins fan who comes up from Atlanta, GA.... A local to the area told me this place was a must go. I took the wife up and to Jerry's two weeks ago. I'm still dreaming about the crab bomb I had...OMG was it the best crab dish ever. First for starters, I expected a white table call ahead for reservations (1st timer here).... I found no reservations and a 30 minute wait late on a Saturday.... While some would be upset...this meant simply one thing... The food must be great.... Once in, the staff was great and gave us a small sampler of soup / appetizers because it was our first time. Everything was great. I got he bomb, and the wife got the baby bomb. We split a side of slaw which is all you need with the size of these entree's. I got the fire cracker version which was not spicy but flavored with black pepper and dry mustard. My wife got the regualr. I think we both agree that the firecracker was the way to go. While the bomb is $30+, its the size of a softball and has absolutely nothing but enough mayo to hold it together. Super awesome. Going back, we'll probably order ahead and pick it up for a romantic dinner back in our hotel. Simply the best MD crab!!!!

First, I have to say that the crab bomb is quite tasty. I also tried the stuffed shrimp which is yummy as well. But I have to say that I don't think that the food is worth the money. The décor, prices, and portion of food are severely OFF! This place on the outside is not that nice. Some of the lights were out on the sign, but the place looked slightly better on the inside. Depending on what you order and how much you eat, you may need an appetizer to fill you up. For $34, I was expecting to receive at least 5 stuffed shrimp on a plate....but OH NO, I only got 3 on a tiny plate. It looked like an appetizer. With a small side of broccoli and a baked potato...I was truly appalled. My date had the crab bomb for $34 with 2 sides which was a little more food than I had. The guy at the table next to us had the fried shrimp for $30 on another small plate. I was thinking, "OMG, they are robbing people up in here". Now don't get me wrong, I believe in paying for quality, but I left this place feeling like I was taken advantage of. Needless to say, my date paid the bill and I probably will never return. Also, I would like to add that they are selling the same crab bomb online for $38 which is slightly higher than eating at the restaurant with side dishes. Ridiculous!

Crab Bomb - Those are the only words you need to know. It's called a bomb explodes in your mouth full of yummy crabby goodness. This place is what being a Marylander is all about.... service is good but be forwarned the wait can be long.... other things to note - the dinner rolls are good the fish looks great, so does the chicken but they are all just there to distracted you keep your focus - just keep saying I want a crab bomb over and over in your head

what can I say, this place is the very definition of a 5-star restaurant... for the food at least. Located in a shady area out in Lanham, this isn't the kind of area you'd want to spend all night chillin out. Located in a shopping center with a drive through liquor store, from the outside, it could come across as the wrong message, but don't be quick to judge. The interior is completely transformed once you enter, and the place welcomes you with a group of friendly staffs and sometimes Jerry himself. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming... once you're in. If i start describing the crab bombs, this review would be endless, so i'll just leave it as a number 1 must have choice. The sides are normally huge. I always get the garden salad which has all the freshest vegies and the baked potato. You can't beat that with a stick, since the salad is huge, and so is the potato.

  • Isha B.

The crab bomb is pretty good. It has a little more mayo than I normally like...if you like "wetter" crabcakes, then you will like Jerry's crabcake. It is very expensive though. I don't think that you get enough food for the money at all. They don't really compare to some nicer DC restaurants or other seafood restaurants because of the price. Even lunch is expensive, you end up spending 30 plus just for the crabcake and two sides.

Decor is blah, outside of resturant makes you want to turn back around and head for your car...but it truly is a hidden gem. This is the place i first tried fried soft shell crab and fell in love. Oh and the crab bisque... so so so good! Yes this place is a little hefty on the price, but i would pay it again to have a soft shell crab so good...

  • Lukas H.

The prices were higher than I was expecting, particularly since the presentation was so lousy - looking at way the food was arranged on the plates, I felt like I was sitting in a cafeteria rather than a pricey seafood restaurant. The service was slow - it took several minutes to bring out everyone's food, and they forgot to bring out the soup that one person had ordered. The food itself was fine, although one of the people I was eating with commented that she could make better scallops at home. Lest you think this is just my opinion, I was eating with 10 other people, all of whom were quite disappointed.

This place is a little cheesy in decor and plating (they use parsley and lemon as garnish). But their crab bisque is amazing and the crab bomb is out of this world. It's a family-owned local favorite that doesn't take reservations, which is a problem. I've waited at least an hour to get a table here and at their Bowie location. Maybe I'm biased as someone who grew up eating here, but I think it deserves all four of these stars.

Their version of the crab cake (the crab bomb) is unreal! Though it's a bit expensive, I enjoyed their food and hope to revisit the crab bomb!

Crab heaven. Like Dante, I like to think of ethereal places in circles. Crab heaven would be one of those concentric levels within the paradise of my desires. And if one must envision this kind of heaven on earth, it would be Jerry's Seafood. Yeah, it's in the middle of a rather questionable neighborhood, but don't underestimate the power of food quality. Especially the crabs. There is a long wait, especially during the weekends, but once you've survived that, you've arrived in heaven. So what do I like from the menu? Well, not to sound like Bubba from Forrest Gump: the crab bisque, the crabcakes, the cream of crab soup, crab dip, and of course, the infamous Crab Bomb. What is that, you ask? It's a mouthful of crab-goodness with every bite, that's what it is. Now I'm hungry for some crabs. Damn.

This place is awesome! It was recommended by an old coworker, who told me that her brother and sister-in-law go every Friday night. They must have low cholesterol. When I drove up to the front, I thought I had the wrong address; it's in the middle of a strip mall that's totally sketchy and I'd be scared to walk through the parking lot at night. But, put that out of your mind, get a body guard and go! Crab Bomb ($32) and Baby Crab Bomb ($27) are worth every penny, but all the seafood is cooked perfectly. This place is too expensive for just a regular lunch, so when I worked at the IRS we would get our boss to take us out for our "going away" lunches.

I have been going to Jerry's with my dad since I was a kid in the 80's. I still remember the first time I could eat a whole Crab Bomb and how proud I was. In all my travels I still have yet to find a crab cake, or any crab dish, that comes close. Truthfully, I haven't found a better seafood dish. It is also really hard to find better dinner rolls. I know rolls are a weird thing to remark on, but when they come out hot, they are like crack. I giving a 4 stars instead of 5 for almost the opposite reason why a lot of people gave it less then a 5. They were expecting the hype to provide a 5 star ambiance. However as a long time patron, I am giving it 4 for the loss of the original mystique. About five years ago the original owner sold it to his nephew and another good guy that have worked there for as long as I could remember. They are great guys, but are ambitious and expanding the empire. I can't blame them. It would be strange for one who work as hard as they do, to be satisfied with one restaurant in a shopping center that is falling down in a town that requires a P.G. County squad car to sit out front for lunch and dinner. But that was the magic of the place. Congress men and rich business owners and the lucky few who were in the know would wait for an hour at lunch time in the middle of the ghetto for this place. Now they have three, going on four locations, and advertise that you can have it shipped to you anywhere. The new owners have stuck to their guns and have not really changed the menu or altered the same great taste. I took my fiance to the Annapolis location in March, and it tasted as great as it did in Lanham 10 years ago. However, I just couldn't shake the weird feeling of eating a delicious crab bomb in the posh trendy atmosphere of the new Annapolis location, instead of looking at the giant wall mural and the mounted Hammerhead Shark on the wall that were always constant companions in Lanham... I even missed the police officer. If I could, I would give Jerry's 6 stars for the Crab Bomb alone. I wish I could tell you more about the rest of the menu, but I have never tried an entree other then the Bombs in my 20+ years of eating there. I can tell you that I like spicy food, and I still like the original Bomb compared to the Firecracker. If you need that bite of spice, I suggest just putting Cholula hot sauce on the side for dipping.

We went on a Sunday afternoon. They're a couple miles off the beltway, easy to get to with plenty of free parking. The decor and dress is casual and its not a loud place. My #1 reason to go here is the warm rolls and homemade blue cheese dressing. I also appreciate that they give you a carafe of water and in my case iced tea so you're never dry. We got the baked haddock, the soft shell crabs, and the fried oysters. All 3 were fine though the portion size you get with fried oysters is not ideal for big appetites. Among the sides, I highly recommend the baked potato and side salad. Service was friendly and attentive and the bill for 3 was around $100 which I feel is reasonable for what you get. Of course there's other places you can go for a good seafood dinner -- but its the blue cheese dressing that keeps me coming back to Jerry's.

I have to say that I'm glad that I tried out this place. Last week by roommate and I decided to try something new and Jerry's Seafood came highly recommended by Yelp and we tried it out and no regrets. My roommate is a crab cake lover and I think that as of right now she's a crab bomb convert. The wait was a little long but I must say that a good thing is really worth the wait. There was also an issue finding parking but we found out later that one of the hospitals in the area was having a dinner party. The location and surrounding area are iffy but give it a try it's so worth it.

I get out to the Greenbelt area fairly often for my work. There don't seem to be a lot of good restaurants in this area, but Jerry's does stand out as something special. Nothing fancy, just delicious basic seafood in a neighborhood-restaurant atmosphere. I liked all of the fish dishes I've had here and always ask for the stewed tomatoes as a side. Prices are a bit high but, hey, I guess you get what you pay for.

Jerry's is amazing. After reading all the glowing reviews from other trusted Yelpers, I decided to give this place a try. I am so glad I did! The atmosphere leaves a bit to be desired, as the place is in a less than pretty strip mall and is fairly small inside. The food is just incredible though. My wife and I each ordered the firecracker crab bomb and I ordered cream of crab soup and she got the Maryland crab soup. The cream of crab soup had huge chunks of crab in it, was just the right consistency and was by far the best cream of crab I have ever had. The Maryland crab soup also had many big pieces of crab in it, was seasoned properly and was very good, but was not the delicious bowl of Maryland love that was the cream of crab. We both fell in love with the cream of crab soup and made a note to both order that next time. The crab bomb was excellent. It is 10 ounces of pure crabby ecstasy with no bread filler. Just crab meat and a creamy seasoning to hold it together. We had the firecracker version which adds just a little spice and it was great. This place is not cheap. We spent close to $90 just for the soups and crab bombs. It is so worth it though. I don't mind paying high prices for great food and this food went far beyond being great. I highly recommend trying Jerry's out, you will not be sorry you did.

Coming from a seafoodie this place by far gets top rating for crab bombs (cakes for those of us on the west coast). Absolutely deeeleesh! I was on the east coast for work and my work colleague decided to take us to a hole in the wall kind of place and was i surprised. its located in some seedy mall, but once you've eaten there its no surprise why its such a fav! The menu features seafood only (yeah!) so non seafood lovers stay away. I ordered the firecracker baby crab bomb (and it was a huge portion) with a side of salad and fries (crunchy and yum - a winner!). Since they make it to order it takes a while to get them, so we got bread and our drinks. Oh the bread was warm fresh off the oven, i had to stop myself from getting too full as i was forewarned the portions are large. The bomb was da bomb. Huge lumps of FRESH crab meat, with tons of pepper -baked in the oven dripping in butter (not a waist friendly treat) this was a dish to savor. Thinking about it right now makes my mouth water. I wish we had such kind of places here on the west coast, true to its art of seafood only. No messing with trying to please everyone, just authentic, fresh ingredients. Its a definite on my places to go on the next visit. Keep em fresh and keep it original!

Having grown up in the DC/Annapolis area, I would not eat crab cakes unless they were my Mom's or Mrs. Dunn's (another story)....I was always worried about the additional filler. So 11 years ago my DH took me to Jerry's for the first time. I couldn't believe they didn't take reservations (only if you have secret service detail will they reserve a table for you, yes seriously). So like everyone has said the crab cakes and the Crab Bomb are it. Jerry's doesn't use filler. Just crab, old bay and either mayo or lemon juice to hold it all together. No minced onions or peppers or bread crumbs, just good quality crab. Forget those other restaurants and reserve your crab cake experience here. Although "Jerry" and his family no longer own the place the recipes are still original and the service still attentive. Another place worth the drive no matter where you are. If you are in the city and don't want to drive to Annapolis or Baltimore for a good crab experience Jerry's is alot closer, not cheaper but I bet better quality than tourist places in Annapolis or Baltimore.

Jerry's is one of my favorite seafood places. The crab bomb is awesome!! Right off the bat...I am one of those people who generally only eats crab in any fashion (live crabs, crabcakes, etc.) "in season." So trust me when I say the crab bomb is a MUST try. Between late May and September I try to get to Jerry's as much as possible! I also like the homemade side dishes that come with the entrees. Whatever the restaurant lacks in atmosphere, that is outweighed by the niceness of the staff and the great food. I took off one star only because they don't take reservations and when there is a line....there is a line!!

I don't really understand what all the hype surrounding this place is about. The "Crab Bomb" is really the only reason to come here. It's definitely one of the better crab cakes in the area, but everything else on the menu is just average (and I've had several visits to both Jerry's locations). I really want to like this place more than I do, but I just can't justify going out of my way to come here. With all the buzz surrounding this place, I expected a spectacular dining experience, where each item on the menu is better than the last (not to mention creative and delicious sides to compliment the dish. Stewed tomatoes and overcooked broccoli? What am I, 90?!). Not so much.

    (3)
  • Mike P.

Non-descript location. Ordinary decor. Blah atmosphere. Average beer selection with nothing on draft. Sides were good - the stewed tomatoes were different in a good way. It's a two or maybe three start place. The crab bomb... Possibly the best crab cake like thing I've ever had. It was awesome. All tender crab meat. Nice crust on the exterior. Binding was perfectly flavored. The recipe, excellent crab meat, and the cooking are stellar. This makes the four stars.

I went to dinner this evening with a friend who raved about the food. He was right to do so. Ben was our waiter. Friendly and attentive, he was a great waiter. I ordered the Baby Crab Bomb, six ounces of delicious crab goodness with two sides, in my case, a baked potato and steamed broccoli. Ben also brought out a flight of their soups to taste. They were all tasty and rich. I'm glad not to ordered a bowl of soup as I wouldn't been able to eat my entree. The Baby Crab Bomb is $27 and a deal for the amount of food. My friend had the seafood platter for $40 which had scallops, fried shrimp, a crab cake and flounder with two sides. He had so much food, he ended up taking up half home for another meal. This place is in small strip mall, and the decor is plain. if you want a great seafood meal, go to Jerry's!

I recently visited this location to satisfy my craving for their wonderful Crab Bomb. My date and I ordered the Firecracker Crab Bomb and it was delicious! It was definitely ALL crab, no filler! That in itself deserves 5 stars! I will say that I was expecting a little more kick in the Firecracker Crab Bomb, but I guess I was expecting something else. At any rate, the entire meal was delicious. I had a salad, baked potato and the vegetable of the day and they were equally as good. I would definitely recommend Jerry's if you're looking for a huge, delicious, filling, with no filler crab cake. They don't disappoint!

Okay...let's start off with "the cream of crab soup may be the greatest thing I've ever eaten"...after you have a cup, it'll leave you wandering alone at night and questioning why...why is it gone? What did you do to deserve such a fate (y'know...aside from eating it all). Top to bottom the menu is great quality, the service is top notch...really everything about the actual dining experience is wonderful. BUT There ARE a few things that make it a less than ideal dining experience (hence only 4 stars). 1. The restaurant's location...it's in a strip mall that feels a bit...meth-head-filled. 2. Arrive early, or don't arrive...if you wait for more traditional times, the wait time can be on the extreme end of things. Jerry's deservedly has a loyal customer base who will happily invest approximately 1 reading of War and Peace while waiting in line...I didn't so much want to do that. 3. When the check comes, you may get to taste all of that wonderful food coming back up again. It's pretty expensive...be ready for that. If none of that scares you off (or if you arrive early, sprint through the parking lot to get inside and take out a second mortgage on your house), you'll love it.

I LOVE Jerry's! My review is ONE star because with NO notice, they closed! We showed up with a HUGE group to locked doors and a note taped to the window..... Uncool!

Delightful! A true crab lovers haven. Mouth watering crab dip with many jumbo lumps of crab bliss inviting you to devour it down to the point of scraping the dish. I ate every drop with no shame. The infamous 'Crab bomb' is tantalizing and definitely worthy of praise. The first bite will suck you in and leave you on the edge of your seat begging for more. The only thing slightly off was the extra wetness hiding in the middle. I personally enjoy a more overall broiled firmness to my crab cakes. It could have sat in the oven an extra 2 minutes for ultimate perfection. Service was subpar. While I sat thirsty and eager for another glass of water, I could see my waitress laughing it up with her co workers.

"Ooo Ooo Jerry's...wait, what?" Intro: Jerry's is on point. This won't be a long review. They just get the job done. Atmosphere: The outside is dull and lacking, but the interior is very nice. Food: I started with the fried crab balls. They were tasty with the mayo based yellowish sauce that's provided. For my entree', I had the special, which was the crab bomb with shrimp in it. This was very good. My only regret is that I didn't come hungrier. I got it with string beans and wedges. I had enough room for dessert, so I got a brownie and ice cream. The brownie was noticeably burnt beyond what you would call "caramelization." It almost brought my experience down to 3 stars, but the seafood made me a fan. Customer Service: Our waitress was friendly and very helpful. All smiles. Closing Remarks: I'm a seafood lover and it's always good to have a go-to spot. I've heard about Jerry's often, so its reputation precedes it. I'm glad it was able to live up. It's a little pricey, but seafood ain't cheap. Bypass the dessert; the brownie at least.

Jerry's Seafood is a PG County institution that's been around forever. I had the crab cakes, but I also tried the famed crab bomb. As far as I could see, they were identical to one another, except that the cakes were formed in patties, and the bomb was a rounded mound. Both were delicious. The cakes/bombs don't have any fillers. For sides, I had an enormous baked potato and homemade spiced applesauce. Service was very friendly. Value is where I felt that Jerry's is somewhat lacking. This is a very casual restaurant in a drab strip mall in Lanham, yet they are charging downtown DC prices. Most entrees are in the $30-40 range. My crab cake dinner was $34, and the cakes weren't exactly massive, and while seafood is an expensive product, Jerry's uses less-expensive Venezuelan crab instead of pricier Maryland or Gulf blues.

Sound the alarm: Crab Bomb Crab Bomb Crab Bomb. This is a culinary weapon of mass destruction, appropriately named. Just as advertised, it is crab ball I've ever had (notice I didn't call it a crab cake). No filler, no nonsense, it's 10 ounces of nothing but jumbo lump crab meat. Get the baby bomb for dessert. My second time here, for a dinner party of 9. Service was great, we were well taken care of. Despite staying past their closing time, at no point were we rushed. Must try: crab bomb (firecracker version if you are feeing dangerous), stewed tomato was quite a surprise.
