Great burgers and beer selection!!! If you feel like seafood the gumbo and fish tacos are great!

A solid place but not that great. Really nice beer selection. The gumbo is great and super spicy. Burgers are decent. Kinda what you would expect from a place like this.

Kooper's has brought something to Jacksonville that has been much needed in that town; a bar with an AWESOME variety of beer. They have a great mix of Belgian, German, Dutch, English, Irish, and Mexican beers, along with, of course, great American craft-brews such as Allagash White and Fat Tire. If you want to hang out at the bar and watch sports, they have around 6 flat-screen televisions placed nicely along the walls so you can sit in any direction and watch the game comfortably. Having said that, the drinks are very expensive. While you're drinking, you're also worrying about your bill, BUT, like I said, I think Jacksonville needs a good bar with good beer and therefore I'm willing to pay more for it. The food is decent. I like their "BYOB" (Build Your Own Burger) option but I'm not a fan of the prices. When I go out for a burger and a beer, I'm not looking to spend around $20, even if the area is really nice. Plus, I wouldn't say the food is all that great; decent, but not great. Something I really respect, though, is that Kooper's serves the local creamery's ice-cream. The staff is really nice. The bartenders offer friendly conversation and good service, the waiters and waitresses are upbeat and friendly, and the hostesses welcome you with friendly smiles. Ultimately, I recommend it for the beer.

Bartender Stephen is great! Very accommodating. Had a quick bite with my daughter and had the harpoon UFO white beer on tap, which was amazing. I'm a blue moon drinker and this beer was much lighter and appealing! Great place - good atmosphere - kind people!

I have not yet returned to Kooper's Jacksonville. However, I will absolutely give it another chance. It is rare to hear from the owner of any establishment personally to address a poor experience. Patrick did just that and in my book, personally responding to an unhappy customer is just as impressive as a 5 star review. The 2 star boost is definitely warranted. I will be updating my review once I return to this location, but for now, 4 stars for Kooper's Jacksonville! Thanks to the proprietor for caring.

Pretty to very good pub, only complaint is they're still going through growth pains, one day no coffee for brunch, next out of fries.

I went to Kooper's recently with a friend and was somewhat disappointed with my experience. I ordered the cream of crab soup, but unfortunately was given the regular crab soup by accident. I didn't make a big deal out if it because I knew it was just a mistake, so I asked for the cream of crab and it was brought out right away. The cream of crab soup was okay...I usually like my cream of crab soup with a thick consistency and with lumps of crab meat. This cream of crab soup was a bit thinner and the crab meat almost seemed "shredded"; it wasn't lump crab meat at all. My friend and I ordered the buffalo chicken pizza, and it was definitely lacking buffalo sauce - we actually asked for a little cup of buffalo sauce. We were told it was within the cheese, but neither one of us could really taste the sauce, which is why we asked for more. Another thing I noticed is that our server left less than halfway through us being there, which is fine, but we weren't told/made aware so it was a little confusing at first when a new server was checking on us. The beer was really good though! They have a nice selection and the servers were all really knowledgable about the beer selection there. If I go again, I will probably order a burger since I know that's what they are known for. I have have food from their food truck before and it was amazing (I ordered the build your own bison burger and it was fabulous), which is why I'm a little disappointed with my less than stellar experience at the actual restaurant.

Went with my husband and dad to celebrate a late Father's Day. We sat in the bar area at a high table on a Monday night, surprisingly it was really busy around 7ish. I ordered a bowl of the seafood gumbo which was really good! My husband ordered the seared tuna wrap which he said was decent and my dad ordered the spring lamb sandwich which he said was terrible. I will have to say our food did take much longer to come out than we thought so that was kind of a bummer but our waiter was very nice and kept on top of our drinks. Maybe next time we will try the burgers I hear they are known for. The place itself was decorated very nicely and they even had an outdoor patio where dogs were welcome. The bar had a great selection of beers on tap which my husband loved. We will be back to try another time.

Great to have a very good restaurant in Jacksonville. Casual menu, good drink selection and fresh, high quality food. I have been twice and will add to the regular stops. Friendly too!

Was in the area for business and this restaurant was suggested by our customer so we decided to check it out. It was an earlier lunch, 11am, and the place was empty. They have specials each day and Tuesday just so happened to be burgers on the special for the day. Everyone at our table, 6 of us, went with a burger of some type and all were reported to be very good. Mine was decently cooked and very filling. Service was good here as well. All I all a good experience and good food. Would suggest to others to visit.

Went on a Tuesday night. Got calamari for appetizer. It was amazing. Very tender and flavorful. Got Baja burger for burger night. Very delightful. Can't wait to go back

It was a perfect night to sit outside on the patio... So that was great. The waiter, although overworked, was great also. The food was just so-so. My husband's burger was good, with good fries, but each topping is an extra charge... Annoying. I understand charging extra for some toppings, but for a different sauce? Also... And this might seem like a small thing, but the tomato on the burger was hard and pink. It's tomato season in Maryland! I don't even know where you get a tomato like that. Our iced tea came out with no ice. My crab cake...they tried to fancy it up. you can't improve on a traditional Maryland crab cake. None of these are deal breakers, just annoying. It's a little pricey.. $10 for desserts.

Went on the first day it opened and the food was good. I ordered the pulled pork with old bay chips. The pulled pork was awesome and the sauce is great! The chips were a bit soggy but still good. Overall good place to go.

We've tried Kooper's twice, and enjoyed it each time. The burgers are excellent--both beef and turkey. On our last visit, I tried fish tacos and they were really good. Crispy slaw and fresh fish with a cilantro cream and two salsas. We had minor glitches each time: on our first visit, my husband's burger came with the wrong kind of cheese but he still enjoyed it. On our second visit, we were not even finished our entree when our pleasant and efficient (!) server placed the check on our table and thanked us. It was a little rushed (I had been considering dessert) and Cracker Barrel-ish. That said, it's a friendly, slightly noisy place and I hope they make it in this spot that tends toward mediocrity.

This place is quite a disappointment. While the atmosphere is great and the service is good, the food left a lot to be desired. We started with the crab dip. The dip itself was good, but it was served with 4 carrot sticks, 4 celery sticks and and a hamburger bun sized pretzel roll. We ran out of "dippers" half way through the dip. The server was great in providing us with more carrots and celery but told us that we would have to pay $2 for another pretzel roll because they didn't make it on site. We opted for a free baguette (which by the way, was charred.) I ordered the crab cake sandwich for my meal. TERRIBLE idea. The crab cake is all special crabmeat and filler. It was also over seasoned. I am not sure that I would ever choose to come back to this restaurant and I question returning to the one in Fells Point.

So I was told that I had to try this place out. Plus it was Tuesday which meant it was discount burger day. I don't remember the name but it was the first burger on the menu. Standard burger, cheese and bacon. Burger was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The bun soaked up the grease from the burger and was not soggy at all. Upgraded and got the sweet potato fries. They were decent but nothing over the top. I sat at the bar and can't remember her name but the bartender was awesome. Great personality and explained the different options I could choose from since it was burger day. I was working so couldn't drink but wish I was off. The selection of beer was huge. Everything from standard Budweiser to the most unique craft beers. Some reviews complained that the food (especially the burgers) were over priced. My meal was $11.31. I think that price was decent for the meal I received. Not sure what the price would have been if it wasn't burger day though. I would definitely go back and eat another burger or even try something else.

Our second visit last night proved about the same. My husband ordered calamari and a cup of cream of crab soup. The soup was good. The calamari was above average as well. I ordered a garden salad with steak strips on top. Wasn't too thrilled with the size- small portions and the dressing was not the best although they had other options. I had table water and he ordered one beer. Total came to 45 dollars with 20 % tip. Server was absolutely wonderful- no complaints there. I do think they may be pricing themselves out of this area. I used to frequent the other location when I lived in Fells Point but now that I have a house and family, I also look for value in my meals and don't want to spend a fortune on bar food. There are other dining choices in the same center and although the atmosphere is not as nice, those places offer a great value for families which is the main demographic they should be catering to. I'm just trying to be helpful in case they read this. Thank you.

Tried to visit this place on a Sunday afternoon. My 2 year old fell asleep on the way so we decided to get carry out. Went inside to ask for a menu and was given the brunch anand regular menu by the kind hostess. I told her I was going to run out to the car so we could decide then be right back (someone had to sit in the car with the sleeping child). As I was walking out, what appeared to be a manger, called out at me and grabbed the menus back from me, saying that their menu isn't available for take out. I briefly explained our situation and he didn't seem to care at the least bit. The only reason I didn't give 1 star is because I can't comment on the food since I wasn't able to try it. With other great restaurants in the area, I don't think Koopers can afford to be rude to their customers.

Stopped in for a bowl of gumbo. Had it three times so far. I know the other locations have good gumbo, but this one was good once, mediocre once and terrible once. Wife had burger it was good.

Stopped in for lunch. First visit to Koopers expecting good food from the ratings. I ordered a bacon burger and the wife had a turkey burger with sweet potato fries. She asked if mayonnaise comes on the bun? The waiter said it would be lettuce, tomato, onion and mayo on the side. I ordered a coke and the wife ordered a cup of hot tea. When our order arrived, the wife's turkey burger had no mayo on the side and a order of regular fries which was returned for sweet potato fries she ordered. My bacon burger was tasty but I have had tasty burgers for a lot less money. The turkey burger was large, well cooked but had no flavor. We ordered another refill of coke and hot tea. When the check arrived the two hot teas were $6.00. When we questioned the waiter about what is basically $3.00 per tea bags, he explained there is free refills on the coffee, sodas and ice tea but they charge for the extra hot tea because of the extra bag. REALLY! We paid vowing not to return, however the waiter did return our receipt saying he deducted one of the hot teas. That is why it is 2 stars not 1.. It's a good thing Koopers has so many beer selections. Customers certainly can not afford to drink hot tea. Ironically, the wife ordered a hot tea because to dining room was so cold.

The burgers here were decent. Cooked the way we ordered them. I just didn't find them exceptional and for the price they should of been. It is nice to have another restaurant option in J-ville. Koopers is doing a much better job than the previous restaurant that occupied the space.

A sad excuse for a taco salad takes this all-time favorite restaurant from a 5-star to a 2-star. The evening could have been salvaged if, upon complaining to the waitress, she had offered to substitute another choice. Instead, she agreed, apologized and went on her way. Note to chef: 3-4 tortilla strips tossed on top does not make for a taco salad. We've sang your praises and been loyal costumers but (no pun intended) this left a real bad taste in our mouths!

The food here looks ok so I'll give it 2 stars. I never managed to get my meal until over 15-20 mins after my kids so I packed it up as leftovers. I never actually got to eat because my kids were done and wanted to leave. There was no "it will be a few more minutes" check in from our waiter. I didn't see him at all or I would have been proactive and asked where my food was. Overall, pretty dismal impression of the service here. There was literally 15 other people in the restaurant and they didn't manage to get my food out to me...yea pretty dismal. Avoid if you are very hungry!
