Hampstead Diner is a nice little diner tucked a little bit off Main Street. I've only been there on weekends and business seems to be pretty brisk in the morning. Service is down home Baltimore dinery with "hons" abound. Part of the reason I've only gone on a weekend is that they close relatively early during the week and are only open until 7pm Fri/Sat. That's ok, breakfast and lunch seem to be their wheelhouse anyway. Their breakfast is pretty good with the standard bacon, eggs, etc. fare but they also have some interesting pancake combinations. Overall their breakfast is a good value and pretty tasty. Not quite as good as Dutch Corner in Manchester, but not too far off. I have had a few of their lunch/dinner dishes. Overall, they were solid, but nothing special. Except for the hot dogs...sweet jesus are those things good. The platter gives you 2 fried in butter dogs topped with chili mustard and onion along with fries. Man I'm getting hungry just thinking about them. They have a nice selection of shakes that I'm usually too full to try but I hear the maple bacon shake is a thing of beauty. A good spot for a leisurely casual weekend breakfast or lunch with family and friends.

We had a lazy Sunday morning and a Groupon for the restaurant. The place is small but cozy. Loved the interaction with others. Food was what you'd expect from a Diner. Coffee was good, creamed chipped beef over biscuits with scrambled eggs also good. My wife had a sandwich and it was very good. My favorite was the hand pressed sausage patty and the desert pancake we shared. Caramel Apple Pancake.

This is what a local diner should be. I stopped into Hampstead for business today and wondered if there was a good place for a quick, cheap, tasty lunch. Being a small town, I was hoping for a diner and got a very good one. The staff is friendly but efficient, the patrons clearly know the place and the people who work there, and the food was good! The menu was diner-complete but not as daunting as some diners - front and back of one very colorful sheet. I had a deviled-egg salad sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries... both very good. The coffee was tasty and came in a proper heavy white mug. Alas, my meat-eating days are in the past but all the standards were there (Reubens, clubs, burgers, etc) and it looked like you could get breakfast with any style of egg under the sun.

My girlfriend and I went this morning. Unfortunately she wasn't feeling well (before we got our food) so we had to leave early. Our waitress was kind enough to stop was she was doing, box up our food when it arrived, and get us out of there as fast as possible. I'm very appreciative of her help. P.S. And it was delicious when we got around to eating!

I'm changing my review based on the fact that the past two or three visits , we've been downright ignored by the waitresses. Just today, we were at a booth for five minutes and two waitresses walked by multiple times. A family of regulars comes in and low and behold, someone walks right over to take their order. You have great food, Hampstead diner. But you'll never get loyal customers with your terrible service.

Walked in on a Tuesday morning.. It was crowded but not like a weekend crowd. One waitress and she had all the tables .. We ordered and got our food in a timely fashion. Even if it was a little slower than big name food chains.. I'm ok with that!! It's a small diner that has great food!! As far as service people need to maybe approach with a "how are you ?" You Would be surprised how much that matters to staff:)

Very slow service! The sign says to seat yourself and we did. After 10 minutes of no service, we moved to the counter. I ordered a strawberry milkshake for my sone which looked more like medicine. Watery, bright peptol bismol coloring, and no strawberry flavor what so ever.

This is a great, local diner. I went for breakfast and was amazed at the selection. But, I went looking for chipped beef on toast, and I got what I was looking for. Very good, too! The service was friendly and quick. It seemed like a good place to meet a friend and linger over a nice, homestyle breakfast. I didn't look at the menu beyond breakfast, but I did scan the extensive shake menu. I'm afraid I'll have to go back sometime soon for one of those. Definitely a place I will visit again.

I agree with the other reviews food is definitely not expedited at this establishment and it could be because it's a family owned business but when you do receive your food it is packed full of wholesome goodness

Service was slow, waitress was not very tentative or friendly. Food took very long to come out even though the business wasn't packed enough for food to take that long.

The food was good but service wasn't so great. They were a little busy since it was Sunday around lunch time, but it took way too long for someone to at least bring us waters and take a drink order. Food came out super quick! But apparently was put at the wrong table lol. And then it took a long time to get the check.

I've ate there many times with my family. The parking lot is always full and they have a cool menu. You have to try the chicken fried bacon with a side of gravy. Be patient they are overwhelmed with business. Don't forget to try their chunky corned beef hash and Elvis French toast

Very slow. The two waitresses were busy but not very efficient - at least mine wasn't. My coffee cup stayed empty and had to flag not-my-waitress for a refill. Over easy eggs were cooked to hard yolks. Pancakes were good. Corned beef hash not good; no onions, very dry meat, potatoes seemed like the frozen-diced variety instead of hand cut & cooked. Step on down the street a couple miles to Dutch Corner in Manchester. Light-years better.

I would give the food three stars. It was good but I had to give my food back to the waitress to warm up. Let's begin with the coffee. We received coffee with mugs that were stained that looked like it was stained with prior use. The waitress did not come back to refill the coffee for at least forty minutes. We ordered the chili cheese omelet with potatoes. Let's just say chili should be pre-made and the potatoes were out of a box. I just can't understand why it would take an hour to scramble eggs and put chili on top and heat up potatoes. Also, we ordered cream chipped beef over toast. Why should it have taken an hour to serve this meal and served cold, not to mention I got sick from waiting for an hour to eat. Lastly, the floor and other tables stayed filthy our entire visit. I drove an hour to get there with high hopes, but big disappointments.

Im usually the type to laugh at people that take the time to leave negative reviews for restaurants, but a couple of miserable experiences at the Hampstead Diner has made me realize why people do this. Waiting over an hour for a simple breakfast sandwich is absolutely insane. The service here is extremely slow and less than mediocre. The busiest this place gets is maybe 40 people at a time. I guess even on sunday mornings they only have one cook in the back because there's no reason it should take so long for simple food.
