The food is flavorful, the ingredients fresh, and portion sizes are perfect. If you want to taste test multiple dishes, go for the lunch buffet which they offer 7 days a week. I am addicted to their dessert which is some type of small donut soaked in a syrup. It is best when mixed with the rice pudding. Last time we were there, I ordered off the menu, had the shrimp mixed with vegis and a red spicy sauce (garlic shrimp pataka) as a starter and shredded lamb (nargisi keema mutter), both dishes were divine. The staff is friendly and I do believe it was the owner that came out to ask how our meal was. If you like spicy food, you cannot go wrong going to Mango Grill.

We love the food here. So delicious. The ambiance could be a lot better. The inside is pretty bare but the food more than makes up for what the visuals lack. I highly suggest a visit.

Ok I read all the reviews and figured I couldn't go wrong taking my family here today. I was wrong! They must of had a really bad day from all the great reviews I read. We arrived at just before 1pm for a buffet that was supposed to be until 2:30. First bad sign was half the food trays were empty. It's not a big place and all the tables were full. So we had to wait about 10 mins to be seated. 2nd bad sign was the waitress was not in any hurry to take care of us once we were seated. There were no clean plates to use for the buffet, we had no silverware or placemats. It took another 10 to 15 mins to get a plate. Finally with plate in hand headed to the buffet. Hardly any rice and still half of the trays were empty. Owner came out and said he ran out of some of the food and wasn't cooking anymore. Meanwhile people were lining up at the door. Many tables were open now but the waitress was taking her time not in any hurry at all to seat them. Not only that the owner told them he only had the food that was left and there was no more coming out. To my amazement 2 or 3 more parties still stayed and ate what was left which wasn't much. 3rd and last bad sign because I won't be coming back. The place was dirty! Behind the cashier were dirty plates piled up all over the place. On the way to the bathroom draped on many chaired where towels drying. The bathroom floor was very dirty like it hadn't been cleaned in days. On a positive note the Naan was good and some of the dishes. All the meat dishes were chicken which was strange. So I mostly had chicken and rice because all the vegetable dishes were gone. Oh did I mention the waitress was terrible. She never picked up one dirty plate. We had to put them on a table of dirty plates that she never picked up. I love Indian food and was hoping for the best but it just wasn't meant to be this time.

The Indian lunch buffet was extremely good. Especially the tofu and vegetable dishes.

My new favorite restaurant in town. Chef Raj and his staff have a great location, convenient and great ambiance. Food is outstanding and we can't wait to go back for the lunch buffet. The Vegetable Pakora and Paneer Tika were fantastic. The Tandoori Shrimp came out on a sizzling iron skillet with onions/peppers Vegetable Korma, my favorite was out of this world. Naan bread was wonderful. Like I said, my new favorite restaurant! I will be a regular customer. Love this place.

We ordered all Indian. Wow! We've been to many Indian places and by far this was the most flavorful. Friendly staff, clean facility including bathroom. Family & date night friendly.

We were passing through Hagerstown MD so pulled over for a lunch and thought of giving this place a shot. We were so pleasantly surprised. OK gotta admit that not too great on ambience and music etc but quality of food which is the most important aspect was just impeccable. Every appetizer/entree/dessert in their much buffet was so unique tasting and so friggin delicious. Kudos to their chef!

Came with my daughter for the lunch buffet. So delicious. We've eaten at many Indian buffets all across the U.S. and can honestly say this was one of our favorites! Food was fresh and nicely spiced. Owner was friendly, garlic naan arrived piping hot to our table. What more could you ask for? If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely be back.

After reading good reviews of this place we decided to go for dinner. The restaurant was empty when we went. The servers working during that particular shifts were not very good with the menu itself thou they were very friendly. The server got us our food but couldn't remember what she got while serving. We ordered Pista chicken pasanda, chicken biryani, garlic naan. Pista chicken pasanda - Was okay. Nothing special about it to try the entree again. It comes with complimentary rice. Chicken biryani - was good but too oily. Again it was not the best. The raita was very fresh and very tasty. Garlic naan - it was way to crunchy. Overall the food was OK. The service was good. The owner Raj stopped by to talk to us - he is a very friendly.

Been here a lot of times, would definitely like to see the Buffet evolve, its been the same old for over a year and a half, other than that, the music isn't too modern.

We've ordered takeout from here a few times and go for the weekend brunch buffet about once a month. I recommend the buffet, particularly if you are either new to Indian food or just enjoy sampling a variety of options. This route is also a great value, no matter how much you plan on eating. If you've ever gotten an order or two of Indian takeout, you probably know what I mean....it adds up quickly. But weekend lunch buffet here is under $10 a head (little less during the week). Very well worth the value and to be honest, I'd be happy to pay more for the quality of the food they're providing here. Try the garlic naan! My husband loves the Chicken 65, chef & owner Raj's specialty. Speaking of Raj, he's a warm and welcoming proprietor who is clearly passionate for his calling.

Food is fresh and amazing! If spice is what you're after, look no further! I went there last night and am now eating my leftovers I took home...and still just as good :)

Hooray! We've found a "go-to" Indian place near our new home! Indian is my favorite food so it was something I was worried about moving from the DC metro area to the WV panhandle. This place is terrific! As always for us, we did a large to-go order for the family. Here's what we got: Cucumber avocado salad, Lamb pasanda, Saag paneer, Eggplant bartha, Chicken 65, Chicken korma, naan & raita Cucumber avocado salad: A surprise favorite. It's not something I've seen on the menu at an Indian restaurant before. We decided to try it on a whim since we like avocados. So glad we did! We will definitely be ordering this each time we order food from Mango Grill. My husband was dubious at first, but immediately went back for seconds after trying it. Lamb pasanda: another dish that you don't see on many Indian menus and another surprise it. The sauce looks much like a korma, but the taste has a hint of the pistachio base. It was delicious. The lamb chunks were decent sized and not too tough. The only slight complaint is that, like most Indian restaurants, the actual amount of meat you get could be larger. Saag paneer: A classic Indian dish and one of our all-time favorites. We were pleased to find that it is done pretty well here. The greens were creamy and not too bitter, not too salty. The paneer chunks were good size, if just a tad too chewy. Eggplant bartha: another Indian staple and favorite dish. Their version was more yellow than we are typically familiar with but very delicious. Nothing to critique on this dish at all. We would definitely order it again. Chicken 65: This was my least favorite dish out of the lot. This is a dish that you may or may not see on your local Indian restaurant menu. It has been one of our favorites for the last 12 years but is often hard to find. As such we've learned to make it at home pretty frequently and very well. This had made us rather critical when we go to restaurants. I found the version at Mango Grill not very authentic in taste. Far too vinegary, the red didn't look like it typically does at other restaurants, and I didn't see much presence of the curry leaves. We wouldn't order this dish again. Though it wasn't bad, it wasn't true chicken 65. Chicken korma: Very tasty cream sauce and tender chicken pieces. I was surprised that the lamb dish actually had more chunks of actual meat than did the chicken korma. Far too few meet pieces for the serving size provided in the chicken korma. Made it somewhat difficult to split between four people. Each person got about two-three chunks of chicken and then lots of sauce. Naan was nice, as was the raita. Not too watery. All in all we were delighted to find this restaurant and will definitely be making regular orders from here. We are looking forward to trying more the dishes.

Mango Grill is so good for lunch!!! Stopped in here for their lunch buffet. Super pleased. Delicious Indian cuisine and so many dishes to try!! They give you the choice of garlic or regular naan...yes please!!!! The only complaint I have is that my stomach won't hold as much food as I like to eat!! Will definitely be back!!

    (4)
  • Chris G.

Indian food was good, but I really went there wanting Thai, and none of that was available. I got nervous when we walked in because we were the only ones in the place. Naan is very good and I would eat that again. No alcohol but you can BYOB.

I never would have thought I'd have some of the best Indian food in my life in Hagerstown, MD. But Mango Grill smothered my misplaced expectations and instead left me surprisingly delighted. Do yourself a favor and order the Mulligatawny Soup. It's the best. Feet down. Hands up. It's damn good soup. Admittedly, I only ordered it because the the Seinfeld Soup Nazi reference. But after tasting the mulligatawny at Mango Grill, I feel as if my 20 some-odd years of watching Seinfeld brought me to this exact moment, if nothing else, so that I may taste the heavenly flavors and textures of Raj's Mulligatawny Soup. Towards the end of the meal, acute separation anxiety instantiated. So I ordered some more soup to go. Cure found. I couldn't stand the thought of not having it again until my next visit to H-town (which now has just ONE more thing going for it). It takes a bit of time for the food to come out, but that's only because every dish is cooked to order from scratch. But good things surely do come to those who wait. It's totally worth it. Just be sure to bring someone you like. It's an experience definitely worth sharing with someone you care about. My girl ordered Chicken Tikka Masala which was also amazing. The sauce is just begging for the garlic naan to be dipped in it. Don't let the sauce down. So pretend you're Nike and just do it. Dip it ... wah-tshhhh... Dip it good!

The service was amazing, we were checked on regularly and the entire staff made a team effort to make sure we had everything we needed. We went for the lunch buffet which had many, many delicious selections and I got to sample lots of different foods I never would've tried if I were just ordering. highly recommend this place- especially the lunch buffet really a find!

  • Patti B.

We really love Mango Grill. The food is always fresh and delicious! The atmosphere is cozy, and the owner tries to make all guests feel welcome. I would give five stars except the service could be better. It seems like the attention to detail, filling up water glasses, and checking on diners after the food is served is a little lacking at times. We just know that it may not be a quick, but is always delicious!!

Best Indian food I've had including NYC. Fresh and flavorful with some added innovative Indian-Thai fusion dishes that were incredible! Recommended to us by Jeremy who heads Hospitality for Knob Hall Winery - what a find!

I found God in their Chicken Tikka Masala. Their menu says it is their signature dish and the best in the region- no joke, it is the best. Complex flavor profile that takes you to church with every bite. Mango Cafe is the best spot in Hagerstown for complex Indian and Thai favors. I wish I had two stomachs so I could have enjoyed more of their enticing menu. They have 3 varieties of Naan, and they're all delicious. They also offer a diverse vegetarian menu as well as some gluten free options, so almost anyone with any nuanced palate can enjoy a bite here. Even if you have never tried Indian or Thai food before, do not let this place pass you by. Come to Mango Cafe and get excited for going out to eat again. I am beyond thrilled to go back and bring my friends!

We found this true hidden gem on the backside of a strip center while driving north to Maine. The food was superb. Easily the best Indian food we've ever had and that includes NYC. The owner made a point to stop at our table not just to serve but to check on us. Always with a smile. Even something as simple as the Naan was to die for. The first bite was pure heaven....as was our entire meal. Excellent vegan and gluten free options. While the space was small it was colorful and the fantastic food made up for any minor issues.. If we ever pass through Hagerstown again we will be sure to stop.

Unbelievably delicious lunch buffet. Everything was absolutely amazing in taste. Get there early for lunch, they are popular and the tables fill up fast.

This place is a wonderful destination for a vegetarian or vegan. The food is absolutely amazing just as everyone has mentioned. It is worth the wait for the food. We went at 11:30am and were the among the 3 other people there. The page filed up quick after that. I'm glad to see they are so busy. There's nothing worse than finding a gem only for them to not have business and end up closing. We'll be back!

Wow! What a gem! We were on the road trip and I was looking for some options to eat thinking that it would be difficult to find a good place here on the road, and INDIAN! Well, my bad. It's been loooong time and I almost lost my hope to eat a very very decent Hindustani food in the US. I don't have complaints about the taste. Just one thing to note: if you are heading for chicken 65, be aware - it's unusual chicken 65. It's with sauce and served with rice. Gobhi Manchurian is a must if you like fusion food! (and indo-Chinese fusion is one of the best)

We've been back at least 9 times now. Food has never been anything less than perfect. As long as we don't get the waitress's that is very proud to tell everyone that she's from New York, everything is peachy! Waitress last night was the best yet! Look & ask for the small woman if possible. Attentive to the max! She well deserved the large tip I gave her. Raj sweet & endearing as always. Best place to go out to eat in the area!

  • Heather G.

Best Indian food I've ever had! I've loved this place ever since it was downtown, and dearly missed it while it was gone. I could not be happier to have it back and I visit as often as possible! Reasonable prices, great customer service and wide varieties of food that change daily. Raj is a humble and very sweet individual who cares so much about his customers. You couldn't ask for a harder working entrepreneur. I have sent many of friends his way and I have yet to hear of any of them being unsatisfied. Try it out you won't be disappointed!

Had a hard time finding this place because the map took us past it. Lunch buffet was good! Spices were spot on. Plenty to eat. Suggestion would be to clean window and cover food. Overall, great food for reasonable prices.

AMAZING!!! This is our first visit here, and certainly not our last! We took the advice of someone else and ordered an extra dish instead of an appetizer... excellent idea! We had our own mini-buffet. The flavors were wonderful. We liked the smells as soon as we came in the door too. We went with mild dishes, and the spice level was good. We had lamb rogenjosh, chicken tikka masala, and their signature chicken mango... what a great selection. Lamb was a bit more spicy because of the pepper based sauce. We are thinking of trying medium for the two chicken dishes on our next visit. Yelp has their full menu, which includes several kinds of naan, but the menus there do not list any naan. Just ask, and they will run through the bread options. We went with the assorted naan basket. We would HIGHLY reccomend this place if you like Indian food.

We stopped here on our way driving towards Pennsylvania. This was an unexpected, wonderful find. The decor is humble but clean and unpretentious. The food tasted super-fresh and delicious with just the right balance of spice and heat. We had a group with various dietary limits, and found something for everyone. Our waiter was also super-nice.

Was a huge fan of Raj's previous restaurant, Taj India, which was located in downtown Hagerstown. Was in disbelief when they had closed, as their food was the freshest and tastiest Indian cuisine that I had ever had. I was ecstatic to hear that Raj had relocated and the food quality is out of this world! I recommend the Sunday lunch buffet. Raj always provides fresh garlic or plain naan, sauces, and vegetarian/vegan choices. Five stars for the food and service. Raj is a sweetheart and possesses a humbleness most gourmet chefs have long since lost. He will happily accommodate you and your party!

This is our second visit to this establishment. The first visit went relatively well, food was delicious. It took a while for the food to come out. Our second visit didn't go so well. We got there at around 7 on a Friday evening. Half of the tables were taken, the other half uncleaned. Our server cleaned the table by wiping food items onto the floor. Most of which were kernels of rice. My gf asked the server to clean the area around the table so she doesn't step onto rice. The server became pretty angry, and did not hide her displeasure. She slammed the duster onto the floor. Swept violently. Swept near my gf's feet and said sarcastically" oh wait , there are some over here, I wouldn't want you to step on it". Then she cackles, looking in the direction of the other patrons, looking for approval. We left and will not be going back This is unfortunate because the food is excellent.

WOW -- On a whim, we stopped in to check out this restaurant (we even checked out the YELP ratings), and we are so happy we did. FLAVOR-FULL!!! Delicious food. Impressed with everything we ate. Yummy! We will be repeat customers.
