Delicious Indian Food. We never even knew this restaurant was here tucked away in Germantown Maryland next to Outback Steakhouse. The owner is very nice and welcomes you warmly into his restaurant. The food his wife is prepared by his wife daily The food taste like genuine home cooking, and I highly recommend that you try this place. The $34 family meal is pleanty of food for 2 people with a nice selection of several items and shouldn't be missed. The owners are accommodating. Since I don't eat lamb he willingly substituted Butter Chicken and I was very appreciative. You must try this place. Food is a little on the spicy side so if you like your food mild please ask for that in advance. Carpet, paint & tables look new, but the restaurant is otherwise no atmosphere. We hope the restaurant will go a little bit further with their decorating in the future. A mural painted on one wall & some color would be nice. -Just a suggestion. Thank you for a wonderful dinner.

I am extremely picky about Indian food and Spice Grill is one of the very few restaurants I have felt like going back again and again. Firstly, both Peter and Maria are excellent hosts. Secondly, the food here comes as close to authentic, as you can hope to find in a restaurant. My favorite is the Bengali macher jhol (fish curry). I do not think it is on the menu - you have to ask for it. They also make an awesome salmon do piyaja (a salmon dish with gravy). The prices are surprisingly low for the quantities they serve. I typically tip them more than I tip any other restaurant simply because you get a lot of value for the money.

Good food, good prices, nice people. Only issue I had was the buffet was not kept warm otherwise delicious!

The best place for Indian food around. I personally prefer their dinner menu than buffet. The happy dinner for two is the best. If you are a Bengali, they have some off-menu items to die for. Ask in Bengali and you'll be amazed. Moglai Paratha, Dal puri, and so many others.

Went for the lunch buffet and the food was really good! Service was also very good and they kept drinks full and removed dirty plates quickly. Cost was $9.99 so very reasonable. They are located near the Dutch market so parking lot was very busy but almost nobody inside the restaurant on a Thursday afternoon. The food tasted very good and fresh....was expecting a little more spicy but great flavor. Selection was limited but I'd rather have a few things done right than lots of things that taste bad. The naan was great. Would probably go back, but was hoping for some more spicy dishes. The dessert was great also. This was a good find. Nice atmosphere, good service and good price.

This place is wonderful! I came during my lunch break and the waitress, Maria, was so nice and attentive. The buffet had tandoori chicken, butter chicken, curried goat, vegetables, and rice. The list goes on but what I had on my plate was good and the Naan makes you wish you had a paper bag in your purse. It's a nice, quiet place to have lunch in the scorching heat. The spice wasn't too bad in my opinion and I don't eat too much spicy food. The flavor and service will make me a repeat customer.

The people that work here are very welcoming and nice. Their subs are pretty good too. It's hidden in the shopping center full of business so easily missed by locals. Nonetheless good subs for a good price!

This place is so good. I tried it out after seeing all the positive reviews on Yelp and am so glad I did. The buffet is incredible and the servers are so nice and accommodating. Definitely a new favorite place.

While at the Dutch Market, Spice Grillw as giving out Butter Chicken samples so my wife tried it. My wife and I love that dish and get it often from other places. She came home raving about how good it was and we should try it. So, I ordered 2 orders with 2 garlic naans. The whole process was great from ordering to paying and getting home. However, once home I realized they gave me plain naan, not what we paid for. In addition, it went in the trash because it was under cooked and I could taste the dough. The butter chicken was not what my wife sampled the day before. It wasn't worth calling as I was not going back out. I asked my wife if we planned on going back, because if so, I would call and let them know of the error and credit the naans for a future visit. My wife said "heck no, will not be going back. Food is average at best and dinner was ruined due to them screwing up the order". So...I just decided to put up the review.

Read the first 5 reviews on Yelp. I'm always a little skeptical of the first set of reviews especially if they're all 5 stars. But, I love trying new places and this Spice Grill is really close to my house. Ordered the "Happy Dinner for Two" for takeout. It came out to ~$37. I always want to try everything at a restaurant and this is a great introduction to what they have: Happy Dinner for Two: Appetizer Platter & Soup of the Day, Tandoori chicken, Chicken Tikka, Tandoori Shrimp, Noorani Kabab, Lamb Curry, Naan, Mixed Vegetable, Dal, Pulao Rice, Mango Chutney, Cucumber Raita and Rice Pudding. -The Soup of the Day was good. I don't know exactly what it was but tasted like a chicken stock with curry base with lentils. -The appetizer platter was okay. It was battered and fried vegetables, so it doesn't translate well for takeout, I'm sure it would have been fantastic if we ate there. -It's not listed, but there was also a salad with Raspberry Vinaigrette. That was just okay. Salad was run of the mill, Vinaigrette tasted very fresh. -The Tandoori Chicken was phenomenal! Absolutely amazing. It was so fresh and fragrant. -The Chicken Tikka and Noorani Kabab were very good. -Tandoori Shrimp was also amazing. -I love Lamb Curry . This one was good. I wished it was spicier, but the lamb was super tender and the curry itself tasted great otherwise. -He showed me the Naan before packing it up and it looked amazing coming out of the oven. It's just the right consistency and was fantastic. -Mixed Vegetable curry was really well done. Right amount of spiciness. -Dal was good. -Pulao Rice was great!!! Fantastic spice on it. Overall, I had a great experience with takeout from them. I always want to support great small businesses and I hope Spice Grill sticks around. If you have an opportunity, go check them out. It's just an unassuming small place inside a strip mall but well worth it. I chatted up Peter, the owner, while waiting for the food. He was super nice and was really enthusiastic about putting out quality food.

Average Indian food in a casual setting. Staff were friendly. I went when they first moved here from Rockville and as of then there was plenty of available seating with no wait.

The owners take great care to ensure the food is fresh, the atmosphere is clean, pleasant and authentic. The food is AMAZING! They know how to cook and know how to present the food. Prices are reasonable as well. I have never had a bad experience there. They were on Rockville Pike previously and my children and I have been patrons of their establishment for years and years! A must for when you want excellent food & great service!

A Rockville favorite moves to Germantown. Spice Grill is the new restaurant from the former owners of India Garden that was on Rockville Pike. Spice Grill offers excellent Indian cuisine for very reasonable prices. For those not familiar with their India Garden time, I suggest trying the lunch buffet as a introduction to their excellent kitchen.

Maria and her husband are the nicest and hardest working owners in the business. The new location is intimate and is allows them personal service. The food is just great and it's consistent as they've maintained the same staff for many years. Treat yourself to great flavors and friendly service

Spice Grill has been opened since October, and this little restaurant offers authentic Indian/Bengali cuisine. Owner, Mr. Peter, has owned several restaurants, and has opened Spice Grill to offer items such as samosas, pakora, tandoori charcoal bbqs, biryani, chicken/lamb/fish/vegetarian entrees, and desserts. The hubs and I were in the area, and we decided to try their lunch buffet option. I was able to sample their tandoori chicken (the meat was really juicy and tender, and extremely flavorful; I was surprised at the depth of the flavor of the meat, as it was just not on the exterior), lamb (a little gamey for me, but the hubs enjoyed this dish a lot, as it had nice chunks of tender meat); chicken biryani (the basmati rice was well-flavored with chunks of chicken); chicken kashmiri (creamy and nutty, with chunks of boneless chicken; great to dip the naan into for the sauce); chana masala (perfectly-cooked chick peas, I thought this was a little less thick as I would have liked; however, the flavor was really good); creamed spinach; and, fresh naan that is made-to-order. We even tried the garlic naan, which was pretty good, and one of the better ones I've tried at an Indian restaurant! While the buffet isn't quite extensive, each dish was flavorful and unique in its taste, which we really appreciated - this was great, as it wasn't a large variety of mediocre taste, but that each entree was thoughtfully prepared. I wasn't really a fan of their desserts, the gulab jamun and the rice pudding, but since I was so stuffed from the buffet, I didn't mind! Mr. Peter was really nice and told us a little about the restaurant; I'd love to come back during their dinner to order from their menu, such as their fish and curry specialties. Check this little gem out :D +tandoori chicken +freshly-made naan +flavorful offerings +daily lunch buffet +ask for Mr. Peter :D

Was thrilled to find this place. The owner is originally from my hometown - Bangladesh. Ask them to make you our famous Bangladeshi 'Mughlai paratha,' or 'Bangladeshi-style biriyani (Wayyyyy better than spicy Indian biriyani - ours should be a creamy texture and the meat should be so tender it'd be falling off the bones..no spices other than nutmeg, mace, and some saffron - although of course Indo-Pak food is equally delicious!!)

THANK YOU to all the Yelpers who encouraged me to finally try this place. I hope everyone does because it's GREAT. I am Pakistani. I am hard to please when I've grown up with real, homemade Pakistani food. I'm also very accustomed to other Pakistani/Indian restaurants with poor service and terrible ambience. With that being said, I gave this place a try one day when my mom and I were searching for a good lunch place. We came here for the lunch buffet and left EXTREMELY happy. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The chairs, tables, silverware, floors, wall decorations---it's a pretty place. Definitely makes dining more enjoyable. The lunch buffet was very yummy. I tried the chicken tikka, lamb gosht, rice, raita, and fresh cut veggies. The fresh naan brought to our table was like crack. I wanted to shove 100 of those naans in my purse for later. The hostess was great at always making sure to refill our water. The owner, Peter, even came out to greet us. He specially made an order of naan baked with pistachios and coconut and other yummy stuff for us. We were in heaven. We wanted to get seconds, but we were already so full. I made sure I tried dessert though. My mom tried the rice pudding, which she liked. I tried the gulab jamun and omg I went back for another and another and before I knew it, I'd eaten 5 of them. They're much lighter than traditional gulab jamun I've had, but I loved them. They were almost like custard but still melted in my mouth. I wished my stomach was bigger. We got a box to-go for later...lol. $10 for the lunch buffet is a steal. I will definitely be back.

Went for the first time for sunday buffet. The one basket of hot naan included with the buffet was served hot and plain yummy! The buffet was good food but very little selection. The butter chicken was delicious and the goat dish was exceptional too. The lentils were under cooked a bit. However all this for the price of $9.99 is not terrible.

Yesterday, I happen to have an appt in Germantown, and as I was leaving, I thought I'd grab a bite for lunch. I decided to give this place a try. I went up to the counter and the owner came out and asked "for here or to go". I hesitated and he proceeded to encourage me that he had the best buffet and to give it a try, so I did. He told me all about the curry chicken and fresh cut veggies. I made a big plate. My favorites were the butter chicken, the curry chicken and, of course, the veggies. They really were fantastic! Everything was delicious and well made and the service was excellent.

I was so pleasantly surprised by this place. It opened up just a month ago and I was checking out their menu online. They moved from Rockville to Germantown. I was in the mood for some kabob and figured it was worth checking out. It's located next to Mr. K and the Dutch market on Wisteria. Ample parking spots. We got there and while the decor isn't fancy, it was neat and clean and casual enough. We were promptly seated. Browsing the menu we ordered the chicken pakora, a peshawari naan, chiken malai tikka and karahi gosht (lamb) - the latter two came with rice. This was for 3 people. The chicken pakora was fine enough, served with two chutneys. Think of it like chicken fingers but indian style. But the Chicken Malai Tikka was SO good. The karahi gosht was not overly spicy and more importantly not drowning in oil like a lot of other indian places. The rice/polao served with those dishes were excellent, and fluffy. And the peshawari naan was soft and delicious. Honestly I can't rave about the food enough. And best of all our bill came out to $34, and we have leftovers. Customer service was excellent- We were offered mishti doi - which is sweet yogurt- on the house. Best of all, there are off menu items available at times, like mughlai parathas which you might need to ask about. And if you know what those are, you know you gotta have it. I plan on going back next week to check those out. If you're in MoCo in Germantown, you *have* to try this place out. Your taste buds will thank you. Not a lot of people know about this place, but whilst we were there the few people who were also there are now regulars because they tried the place and fell in love with the food. Clearly all this place really needs is for people to show up just once, in order for people to be repeat customers.

Spice Grill is AMAZING. I've been a frequent visitor since this location opened (I live down the street but would most definitely travel for this food). I've also gotten my mom addicted to their food! They have an awesome lunch buffet EVERY day of the week for only $9.99 all you can eat! It doesn't get much better than that, if you ask me. I've mainly gone for the lunch buffet but have gotten carry out a few times. The lunch buffet consists of a variety of different options: tandoori chicken, curry chicken, butter chicken, goat (omg - amazing!), AMAZING basmati rice, spinach, veggies, rice pudding, and a bunch of other options that I'm forgetting. The times I've gotten carry out, I've gotten the goat. Naan is included in every order, buffet or not. OH- you can also get the buffet to go...how cool is that? I also get the Onion Kulcha every time- it's a must! The owner, Peter, is fabulous. He's a very active owner and makes sure that he says hello during your visit. The amazing food and the great hospitality makes for a killer combination! PS- the lunch buffet is every day from 12pm-3pm.

We just had the best take out from here, and we have so much leftover I'm already looking forward to lunch. Everything was fantastic from the soup to the naan to the curries. The place was absolutely dead at 7:00 on a Sunday, I feel bad for the owners in there all alone. I really hope they make it, I'll be back soon to try the lunch buffet!
