This spot has become a very reliable go to spot. There is never a wait and the sushi is very solid. I have gotten "The Ocean" several times and have been very pleased with each visit. This is a very good spot and alternative for sushi if you want to try something new.

As has been mentioned in previous posts, this is a stand inside Lotte Market in the Germantown Plaza. I have been going to Wegman's for sushi. On the recommendation of a friend, I gave Rainbow Sushi a try. I can say after 5 or so times there now, I am not disappointed at all. My experience has been very good each time. The sushi is fresh and very reasonably priced. I like it. You pay at the stand - not the market checkout. That's convenient. They accept plastic with a minimum $10 purchase. If you've never been, I recommend giving it a try and hopefully your experience will be as good as mine has been.

Conveniently located in the Lotte supermarket but hard to find if you've never been here before. Solid selection especially during lunch as they start to run low on selection later on in the day. Really affordable sushi and generous portions. I'd give this place a try if you haven't yet.

For a sushi stand in a grocery store, this place has surprisingly fresh and high quality fish. Daily sashimi specials are available for around $6, and while they might not exactly satisfy my ravenous sushi appetite, they make for a great light lunch. Rainbow Sushi also crafts a variety of rolls, ranging in price from $4 to about $10. Seaweed salad is also available, though I found it to be a bit soggy.

Love this place! Run into Lotte for fresh produce and then pick-up my takeout sushi order. It's perfection. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. Tip: Definitely order ahead. This place is pretty popular for dinner and they're generally out of sushi if you just pop-in on a whim. I've walked in at times and they refuse to make any more sushi (about 7pm...?). The market closes at 8pm.

I love this little sushi shop! Fresh delicious fish all the time & the people are very nice! I love picking up a little platter for my husband & myself after raiding Lotte for groceries. I hope they have one in the new Lotte that opened up on Muddy Branch in Gaithersburg!

Some dishes are better than some. Prices are reasonable especially their lunch specials.

Not bad...value sushi shouldn't be expected to be anything more than okay. I don't trust this supermarket...I bought several items from their "fresh fish" place that ended up smelling like ammonia...cooking bio 101 tells you that the fish has been dead too long and not frozen properly (should be thawed and eaten 3 days to a week after being caught). With that said, I haven't had a bad experience at the sushi stand (rainbow). It isn't special, but for the price I don't have any serious complaints. I just have a hard time trusting their product with horrible quality seafood being sold 10 feet away.

You would think sushi sold in a grocery store is terrible quality right? WRONG! This place is very good. The sushi quality is restaurant standard you would never come across those hard rice sushi. I had the sashimi combo the fish was very soft and fresh just melts in your mouth. I had few other sushi from there too and they were all great. The price is pretty cheap too. The sashimi combo was only $5. This is my go to place whenever I'm craving sushi at work.

Wow, do you really want me to be specific about what I dislike about Rainbow Sushi? The quality of the sushi is mediocre. As I mentioned before, they have the sushi sitting there the whole day, so depending when you go pick up the sushi, the rice is kind of hard. There are gristles in the tuna. Service is pretty lackluster. The lady at the counter gives me sour looks when I arrive. Seriously? After coming once a week? I don't enjoy giving bad reviews, because nobody likes bad experiences. I'm not opposed to giving a better review. At this point, I don't think it's warranted.

Tried out Lotte Market a couple of weekends ago, solely due to the fact that every time I try to find a good sushi place to try in the Germantown area this pops up. First, in case you haven't read it in pretty much every other review, this is not a restaurant. There are not waiters, you will not be sitting down to be served. It is a small sushi counter (without seats) located behind the produce section. The prices are great, super fair for what you are getting and the fish tasted fresh. I would definitely stop in and pick something up again. But if you are looking for a sit down eating out experience this isn't it.

Love the fried tofu appetizer and the sushi. Great prices, service and love that they deliver.

Super cheap sushi counter in the Lotte grocery store. Limited selection of sashimi, nigiri, and well-known rolls (i.e. california, philadelphia, rainbow). Everything is good quality for the price paid.

This is a little sushi joint in Lotte past the produce. The sushi here is quite fresh given that it comes already packaged when you buy it (they do make it fresh daily though). They also have a nice variety of options, including rolls, sashimi, nigiri, etc and of course a mixture of these. But something about buying it in those boxes remind me too much of the crappy sushi I ate nearly everyday in college. Although because of that, it's a great place for a quick takeout, and yes, this sushi tastes 348596x better than the ones I had to eat during school.

This is some of the best sushi in the DC area, at very reasonable prices. Inside the Lotte market, it's a real gem! Don't forget the iko salad - amazingly fresh and gingery. Take it home, or eat in the food court on the opposite side of the market. Seriously, this is the real deal.

i've had their sushi twice, both times were 1+ years ago. being at lotte more frequently, i walk past the sushi section occasionally. was trying to decide whether or not to purchase marinated (meat) for the first time. the guy behind the sushi section sneezes, then continues doing his thing back there. EW. not particularly painful to me because it wasn't all that great before so i don't feel like i'm missing out on much. btw, wound up not picking up an marinated meat either. opted to marinate my own. also, i believe there might've been a credit card minimum, someone please verify... as for survey below, this is a take-out stand in the middle of the grocery store. there are no tables, standing or otherwise to stay and eat.

Wow! I was searching for sushi yesterday in Germantown and had to try this place based on the reviews. Amazing sushi for a great price.

Inside the produce section of the Germantown Lotte Korean grocery is Rainbow Sushi (not to be confused with the stand-alone sushi restaurant of the same name on Mateny Road nearby). Frankly, I can't bring myself to eat sushi anywhere else. Five stars. Why? Price, price, price. Their $60 platter is simply unmatched for the sheer amount of decent quality sushi you get. For those sushi sobs out there, this is probably not quite up to your standards. But I've eaten top shelf sushi both in DC and NYC, and although you can get better quality sushi, it's not that much better than Rainbow. You will easily drop $60 at top drawer sushi joints for one person; at Rainbow, you can easily feed 8 people for that much (minus the faux Japanese attitude that some of the expensive places impose). And I repeat: the sushi is darn good at Rainbow.

Rainbow Sushi Inc is located in Lotte Plaza Market. Sushi is made fresh daily and priced wonderfully! How do I know they make it daily, because that's how often I visit! The staff is nice and friendly. A menu is offered for rolls that aren't prepared on a daily basis. Party platters are offered as well. I ordered one and was taken aback when I arrived 10 minutes early to pick it up and they were putting the final touches on it...can you say FRESH! The platter was a hit! Just note that this is not a sushi bar. Sushi is prepared, packed and sold in the designated area within Lotte. Try it out, you won't be disappointed!

I went to Rainbow Sushi for lunch today soley based on the two reviews that were left on yelp by qyet and Patrick K. It was the best decision i've made this week. First, Rainbow Sushi is located next to the produce section in the Korean grocery store in Lotte plaza. Second, when i got there ( at 12:30) someone was putting out just made packs of rolls. I bought 1 pack of California rolls, and 1 pack of salmon rolls. 6 or 8 pieces per pack at 3.25 each pack. WHICH IS A STEAL!!! i honestly can't remember how many pieces came in each pack because when i got back to work i literally inhaled them. they were that good. just really fresh. There is a 10$ min if you pay with a credit card, but the lady who scanned my rolls gave me a break since my order was only like 7$. So, like i mentioned before, i inhaled the rolls. my goal was to just eat the california rolls, and save the salmon rolls for lunch the next day. SIKE! I ate all 12-16 peices. i was ashamed for like a second because i thought i was just being greedy. but no, it was just that tasty. Anyways. I recommend Rainbow Sushi. The 2 types of rolls I got were cheap and tasty. Also the the man and lady that work there were very nice to me. I also bought 5 limes for 1$ in the produce section which was another good buy. I will definitely go back... probably tomorrow ;-)

This place is absolutely amazing. Everyone MUST try it out. I only have good things to say because Rainbow Sushi Inc. located inside the Germantown Lotte has sushi that is high quality, cheap, and very delicious. Not only is it affordable, the freshness is also top class. For example, the tuna, salmon, and other fish they offer are always very very fresh. Their sushi menu is also very big and the sushi they make out in the front has a large variety, ranging from California rolls that are only $2.99 for EIGHT pieces, while most places just have SIX, and going all the way to Sashimi for $9.95 for 16 largely-cut fish 4 tuna, 4 salmon, 4 white tuna, and 4 red snapper. I love to buy the Sashimi for dinnertime and I also buy a lot of lunch here and they have these large rolls called Today's Specials for $3.75 and it is the best thing out there for the price. You should definitely try it if you get a chance to, because those sell out really fast! Despite the fact that its inside a supermarket, don't assume that the sushi is just regular sushi, because this sushi is simply delectable. The sushi platters range from $40, $60, and $95, and the quantity they give you for the price is overwhelming. They give more than any place will offer in the entire state. Not only does the sushi taste good, they decorate it so well that you can bring those party trays to any occasions. Just try out this place, you will NOT regret it. There are daily customers and sometimes they get very very busy on weekends. I truly recommend this place to everyone because you will taste the best sushi in town for a price you are definitely willing to pay.
