I see what the hoopla is over &pizza. It's awesome, quick made-to-order thin crust pizza. Fresh toppings! And cost just about $9! It's not the best pizza you'll ever eat, but it's good for fast food. Compared to Blaze Pizza (at Montgomery Mall), &pizza has more interesting toppings and sauces to choose from. They give you a mini clipboard listing all their items. You go through the line and choose whatever toppings you want. Putting together the pizza can be pretty quick, but that also depends on how decisive you and the other folks are in choosing toppings. Then it takes about 2 minutes for it to go through the conveyor belt oven. They have signature pizzas to choose from or you can create your own. I made my own, selecting the traditional dough with the classic tomato sauce, a little bit of spicy tomato sauce, and mozzarella. I topped it off with both types of mushroom blend, broccoli, caramelized onions, and bacon with a drizzle of the red pepper chili oil. Turned out to be a pretty tasty pizza. However, the chili oil was a little too spicy for me! Even though it's unlimited toppings, don't pile on too much or the pizza will become a soggy mess. The pizza itself is big enough to share between two people. They also have salads and dessert pizzas, but I didn't try those. I'm not a fan of their table set up. I don't mind the communal table, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of space.

This place is pretty much like a pizza version of Chipotle! The store has a very nice modern design (mostly black, white, and silver). It can get pretty packed during the evenings and nights! During the day its pretty chill and not too over crowded so I like to come around then. Less of a hassle to wait in line or trying to find seats. Pizzas are all $9.50 but shrimp is an extra few bucks. And if you buy it with a large soda is it $12 total. The employees are nice and pretty young when I came in. One of the guys welcomed me in and gave me the menu, which is a long skinny rectangular paper clipped onto a black clipboard. It lists the sauces, toppings, signature pizzas, etc. You can even create you own, which I like to do. The employee answered my question with great knowledge and I was also given some samples of their signature sodas. My favorite would have to be the mango passionfruit! The great thing is that they have an app program where you can pay through the app to redeem points! I use the app to pay and one time there was a malfunction so the owner came over and gave me the pizza on the house! He was nice too and took care of the problem real easily. I was pretty shocked about it because I was expecting to pay in cash or card. Either way I still come here often whenever I'm craving some awesome pizza! Hopefully this location will get an expansion or open another store in a different shopping center nearby because it gets very crowded and the store is very narrow. Totally recommend this place to pizza lovers!

A bunch of my friends were going to be in the area tonight and planned to eat dinner at Chipotle. I convinced them to come to &pizza instead and it was an awesome experience as expected. This time I ordered everything. The employees didn't skimp on the toppings nor did they just slap the toppings on, no, they genuinely made an effort to carefully layer the toppings before they put it through the conveyor belt oven and they were even discussing how to ensure the ingredients would be evenly cooked. When I paid, the employee asked me if I tried their drinks before. When I said no and I'll get a fountain drink, he was very enthusiastic and advised me to check out several different drinks, and even gave me an additional smaller cup so that I could more easily try different flavors. I was surprised when I discovered the drink flavors were exotic flavors instead of the standard fare and it was delicious. Finally, our group stayed well past their closing time chatting and none of the employees tried to rush us out. The food and customer service is so amazing. It is so rare to experience good customer service and feel they are genuine about it.

In the world we live on now it's hard to find nice caring people. The man who helped us yesterday at &Pizza was the kindest person you could find. We are all too quick to expose wrong doing and people who are disrespectful why not give credit where credit is due also. Great guy! As always the food was great.

Fun addition to this area - easy to see why the nephew frequents this upbeat active casual chain. It's as if I was on the set of Cheers when he walked in - yeah, 'twas a "Norm!" moment...confirms he's a regular. If you're a first-timer like myself, grab a clipboard before getting in line. Very helpful. Their website's informative too. Uber similar to Blaze Pizza - either pick from their signature creations or build your own (that's when the clipboard is handy). In minutes the pizzas are out and ready. Well-sliced portions w/little spillage. Convenient. Nephew's preference of melding the pear+fig w/the mango&passionfruit housemade sodas made for a tarty sweet treat - oh the sparkly fizzy sips on the rocks *thumbs up* Most memorable "Proteins" topping was their spicy chickpeas. Worth repeating. I'll check out my local &pizza w/my other half soon. Oh, park at the Safeway lot. Easy peasy.

Still a few kinks here but SO much better than the last two times! Busy Friday night and the line is adequately staffed with people who are all smiles. Many thanks to Sam who reached out about all my feedback!

I like the pizza here and am grateful that they have vegan options, but I experienced horrible customer service from the Germantown location. A few weeks ago, my colleagues placed a large order for 10 pizzas and the staff were nice enough to accommodate the order in advance over the phone even though they apparently don't normally do that. I just tried to do the same this evening and the staff were completely rude and uncaring. I spoke with both the person who answered the phone and her manager and they just kept repeating that they don't take orders in advance -- even though I explained that I didn't want to have to stand at the counter and order 4 different types of pizzas with 6 toppings each. They were not nice or understanding in the least and just sounded annoyed that they had to deal with me and like they just wanted to get off the phone. Frankly, they sounded like they hate their jobs. Their attitude prompted me to write this review, but I also find their ordering policy to be a bit absurd in this day and age - they don't even have an app to serve as an alternative to phone orders. So, four stars for the food and 1 star for the customer service and the fact that they are clearly not set up to handle groups. Update: I received a nice response from management via Yelp; see below. I won't be pursuing the group order with them but I am upgrading my rating. "Hey Angela--thanks for getting in touch and providing this feedback. I'm so sorry to hear about your experience with our team over the phone. We look to give our guests a great experience and I'm sorry that we let you down. I wanted to let you know that I've connected with our Germantown store leader and Director of Training on this issue. We will work to avoid problems like it from coming up again in the future. We just brought in new Germantown store leadership and I'm confident your next experience with us will be a better one. Regarding advance orders--unfortunately at this time our stores are not equipped to handle advance orders; but this is something we're hoping to change in the future, and are even looking into a mobile/online ordering system. With that said, no matter the order, we'll always look to get you in and out quickly. The main reason we don't offer advance ordering is to maintain the quality of our pizzas--we want to make sure they're awesome every single time. I'd really like to make it up to you. Can I mail you a couple free pizza cards? Just let me know a good mailing address."

It is no surprise to me that the Germantown location of &pizza ended up being the worst one I've tried yet (out of many). I used to live in this area, and this area sucks. But still, I end up with a four star rating, and myself and my fellow diners were all quite satisfied with our assembly line pizzas and house sodas at a very reasonable price. The downsides were that they didn't have any traditional crusts available (which was fine for me, because I like the ancient grains one anyway), and they were out of basil too. Also, I received the worst service I've ever had at an &pizza, which amounted to not quite enough employees on the pizza line, and the one who was there asking me repeatedly to list out toppings I wanted and reaching for onions instead of peppers when I gave the list. I picked one stray onion out of my pizza. All of which goes to say, a bad day at &pizza is still a pretty good day. My increasingly standard order of spicy sauce, peppers, mushrooms, spinach, arugula, falafel, and chickpeas (with a few other fixins) offers perhaps the most balanced pizza-based meal I could hope for, is incredibly filling, and tastes better than any fast casual food has a right to.

We couldn't wait for the Gaithersburg (Crown) location to open, so we ventured out to the new Germantown location, rather trying to park in Bethesda. Overall it's a great new addition to the Germantown plaza. Street parking is typically easy, and tons of windows for you to notice &pizza quickly. Upon walking in, you'll need to walk to the end of the restaurant to get in line, which is a little different. As like all other &pizza locations, you grab a clipboard full of dough, sauce, cheese, veggies and meat toppings, as well as other stuff that you can get (salad, beverages, dessert) on the bottom. Expect a wait if you come here during typical lunch/dinner time, usually about 5-10 minutes. The ingredients were noticeably fresh and the service was outstanding. We stuffed our pizzas with spinach, arugula, bacon, hot sausages, red onions, pineapple salsa, and most importantly, tomato olive pesto sauce. Yum! You could tell the energy in the air for it being a new location. Our pizzas from beginning to the end took about 10 minutes (including waiting, ordering, cooking and checking out) on a Sunday night, so it wasn't too bad. The house soda was decent, though they had one beverage choice out of order and no lids left, which is really difficult for us to take our leftover soda, as well as a few customers who got to-go orders stuck holding their soda cup. Not pretty. Stop by during non-busy hours at this location for next month or two, because most customers I saw were new, meaning staff members had to explain to each person how the process works, which can take precious time away. Don't expect Chipotle speed here. DC locations for example, go really fast (though still plenty crowded) due to the experienced customers.

I was in the area doing some shopping and knew that this place had recently opened. I had never tried their pizza before and wanted to see what all the hype was about. It was not hard finding the place - it is right at the corner of Century Blvd and Town Commons Drive, with 2 entrances to the restaurant. Parking was easy on a weekend - there is street parking and you can also park in a lot that is shared with Navy FCU and Safeway. I entered through the door on Century Blvd, and once in the restaurant, I thought I was going through the back entrance (that is the look that part of the place gave me). There is a long table with several chairs to your right and to the left of that table is where you would line up to order your food. Menus are available for you to grab and look at, so I grabbed one and decided to get out of the line since I didn't know what to order. Note that the place is very small. Seems more like a carryout than a restaurant - there are only a few tables in the place overall. You can order a salad (choose from 3), have them make a pizza with your choice of dough, sauce, spread, cheese or toppings, or order a Signature pizza (8 to choose from). On this visit, I decided to try one of their Signature Pizzas called the Maverick. It has Classic Tomato, Housemade Mozzarella, Salami, Pepperoni, Hot Sausage, Parmesan Reggiano, and Oregano Oil. You get to choose the dough your pizza will be made on and I got the Traditional (I figure I wanted to keep one item I knew of). I don't like anything spicy and so I was going to switch out the Hot Sausage for Meatballs, but decided not to do it at the last minute. I am so glad I decided not to change anything. They also had some housemade sodas. There were a few on their menu that I wanted to try, but once I took a taste of the first one I picked (Mango & Passion Fruit), the others didn't have a chance (well they didn't have a chance today). That soda was delicious and I don't drink sodas as much anymore (this might have to be an exception). I took my pizza to go...big mistake. Want to know why? Well, this pizza was delicious and after going back to my ride and tasting it, I wanted to eat the pizza and not drive. I really enjoyed the pizza and this housemade soda...so good. The Hot Sausage, had a tiny kick to it, but I was able to manage it. The green sauce they added to the pizza was great (I might ask for more of that sauce on my next visit). I did not want to put the pizza down - that is how good it was. Never try to drive and eat pizza (It wasn't me - in my Shaggy voice). I will try another Signature Pizza on my next visit. Here is something to ponder: Is Housemade a word? I thought it was Homemade. Anyways, still good food.

The young girl in charge of the sauce and hot toppings was repeatedly playing with her hair extensions in between making pizzas. Twisting then around, making hair buns out of her extensions. It was gross. Than the guy who was cutting the pizzas, I watched him EAT THE toppings that would roll off our pizzas as he was cutting them. On top of that, he was wiping his nose with his hands. He was in fact wearing gloves, but if you're wiping snot with gloves and still touching my food, that is STILL GROSS!! Than he used his hands (not the scoops) to put the cold toppings on my pizza. I was so disgusted. There was a line or I would have asked them to remake them. We also paid $5 for sodas, and both our selections were flat. In the 30+ minutes we were there, the sodas were never fixed.

Great pizza, fresh tasty ingredients. Didn't like the signature selection as flavors got lost. But I'm a traditionalist. Loved my simple tomato sauce, mozz & basil pie. Too bad they don't take phone orders but without a big line, it went fairly quick.

This place is over the top fantastic! My family and I get takeout or dine in at least once a week for vegan pizzas (and vegan "meatball" crumbles)! Everything is so fresh and is always perfect and delicious. The staff are all on top of their game and super friendly and helpful. Definitely one of my favorite spots in Germantown!

If the Subway sandwich artisans made great pizza instead of crappy sandwiches, you would have &pizza! This place exceeded expectations. It's good 'za, made fast. Let me explain the process to newbies, as comparing this to a Chipolte isn't fair since the mexican joints are just throwing junk in a tortilla, it doesn't have to look nice at the end. & pizza has a very efficient assembly line-up with someone waiting to help you at several stations. This is key as there are places like Cafe Rio that completely drop the ball on efficiency, and then places like Chop't and Chipolte that seem to do it well. First you choose your dough. I got the wheat (Grains) version. The Dough Boy passes you on to the Sauce Man.... The Sauce Man let's you choose from 8 or so different sauces. Some nice looking options there. I like it Spicy so I went with the Spicy Tomato! Now you're headed on to Cheese Girl... Cheese Girl let's you choose between Homemade Mozz, a 4 cheese mix and some other kind of Mozz. You now move on to Veggie & Meat Lady. Now, to be accurate, I'm not sure if Cheese Girl did the Veggies or Meat Lady did the veggies. Either way they have you covered... Here is the part I like. If you do a "build your own" pizza, which I did, you don't get nickled and dimed on every topping. And they don't do anything stupid like tell you there are 3 included toppings and everything else is extra. Someone smart recognized that there is only so much that can fit on your narrow piece of dough, so the sky is the limit! Put whatever you want on the pie. Create your own pizza art. Meat & Veggie Ladies are set up with a wide array of basic and fancy vegetables and proteins. There are some really nice options here. I had their wild mushroom blend, some artichoke, some roasted peppers and then had them crumble up a meat ball. There are a lot of good options to consider. It now goes into the oven to be received at the other end by "The Polisher." ...Okay, that's what I'm calling her. But this is the Finishing station and you can take your pizza to the next level. I just got some oregano oil on the side to dip in and had some sun-dried tomatoes added on top. But the girls next to me basically got a salad built on top of their pizza when they added Arugula, tomatoes and some goat or feta cheese. Add a flavorful oil on top and you get a really nice entree here. The pizza was $8.96 ($9) before tax and the craft soda was $2.36 which came out to a $12 lunch after tax. I think for $12 it was a a great value. If you just got a plain cheese pizza the price is $6.84 ($7) for the pizza so I think you'd get out for 10 bucks. Pizza was great! Crust was crisp and thin but also had a little dough chewiness to it. It is all made fresh in house at the dough making station in the back. They are not receiving balls of dough from a factory somewhere like so many other pizza places do. They make it. The craft sodas were unique and enjoyable. They'd be great with vodka. Did I say that? Give it a try. It's a great addition to Germantown. There are way too many main stream boring chains in this town.

The Chipoltle of pizza places. It's way better than any other pizza places in the area. The ingredients are always very fresh, they make the pizza right in front of you, and it's not greasy at all, unlike other pizza places. I only wish the portions were larger

If you live out around Germantown and have never been to &pizza, GO! I was lucky enough to discover &pizza when it moved to U street over a year ago. Here is my spiel on why I love &pizza: You can get a very simple cheese pizza for $7 or you can get any other pizza for $9. This means for $9 you can get as many toppings and as much of each topping as you would like. This is extremely liberating and allows you to make the exact pizza you want. instead of worrying whether roasted red peppers are worth an extra 50 cents or if when you ask for a little more meat they are going to charge you extra, you can customize your pizza exactly how you like. Be adventurous.... or don't, I have never heard someone not like a pizza they made here. My go to is the maverick with sun dried tomatoes and feta. I get basically the same thing every time I go there because I can't imagine anything that tastes better than that. I haven't been as impressed by the service at this location as some of the others. It has been decent, but it seems like they are still working out some of the kinks. For instance, when I went in yesterday they didn't have any dough prepared so we had to wait a little while until they got some ready. Then later a pizza stuck to the over so they had to remake it (not sure how that happened). It is by no means bad, but I do think there is room for improvement.

This place is ok. Kind of pricey for what you actually get. Some of the staff was friendly and some was stand-offish. The topping selection bins were messy and weren't kept in place, so you ended up with toppings you didn't want on your food. They were also out of some toppings, big no-no for a business, and some of them looked like they had been sitting out all day and weren't fresh.

We tried a bunch of their vegetarian pizzas. The concept is pretty novel, liked the choices of toppings and the crust is just how we like it, thin and crisp. It's a little pricey for what you get and not exactly fast but definitely recommend.

I love love pizza.... So,I had to,check them out since they are the freshest meat in gtown. I get so tired of the usual name brand chains. So I came here with my hubs, and I do not like the set up. The place is sooo small. The table seating sucks, it loses a star, I am not a fan of communal seating.it reminds me of the mess hall at summer camp. I don't like dining while everyone and their grandma in line starring at me while I eat. Then the next huge communal table is pressed up against the wall, great now I have people from the outside looking in, one guys lick his lips,at me and winked at me..eeeew.. One chick, looked,at my hubby and was like hola papi and waves!!! Omg! Dioscuri Mio! The lines are long, because ppl r in awe like what should I get ?, they are slow moving like chipotle, they ask you if you want a signature pizza or build your own. I choose build your own. You tell them what you want da da da da. And they bake it for you. The spicy tomato is spicy!!!!!!! Omg i couldn't take it!!! It's very powerful! Here is where they loss a star , they don't have beef toppings! Their meatballs have pork in them! I don't like how, that important piece of info is not in the menu. I feel, that it should be on the menu, when you look at the meatballs it looks like beef. If you want shrimp, you pay like $2 extra. Though they have chicken, i found it to be very tasty. Their finishing oils are good, the garlic sauce reminds me of papa johns sauce, only 100x better. Sooo yummy! I like there pizzas, it doesn't break bank but their layout sucks. It's small, you can't have an intimate, meal with your boo here. Their, sodas are housemade, I like the pear and fig elixir but no,coke or Pepsi or,sprite here. Overall the food is good and cheap!!! I love it!

Saw great Yelp reviews from the team and decided to check it out myself. Reminded me of Blaze pizza where you can build your own but fancier.. if that's a word. ;-) Pro's: -Create your own pizza or have the option of one's they already designed for you -Lots of choices from sauces to toppings -Spicy sauce does have a great kick, not for the weak -Finishing oils and such at the end were a nice plus -Oblong like pizza was very filling. I ate half and ate the other half for breakfast! -Friendly Service -Fast and flavorful pizza Con's: -Not stroller or baby friendly. I know I'm a new mom and all but the regular family tables were taken so I had to sit at the high top one's with my infant. LOL The big and long dinning hall like table is smack in the middle so our stoller was blocking one side not allowing folks to get through. Sorry! -Long line and crowded -No labels on the toppings so I had to ask what everything was ( I know I can read off the menu but it was faster just looking at the toppings) All in all I had a pretty good experience minus the baby. In conclusion, ditch the baby or just get carry out. Will return for the tasty pizza. ;-)

I live in Washington DC so I am familiar with &Pizza and normally go to the one on H street NE, Washington DC. The only thing that the DC area one has as an advantage over this Germantown location is later hours of operation, other than that the great customer service, speed of transaction, and variety of ingredients are similar. This &Pizza is in a very nice area with many stores in the same strip mall area, the interior is very clean the two times I've been so no complaints. If you want good pizza without going to the "normal" and "mundane" pizza places I say decently give this place a try..........

As promised, I stopped by last night to pick up pies for my family and couldn't have been more satisfied. Service: I ordered four pizzas with no problem or hold up. I was THAT guy last night who would normally make people behind me wait five minutes to move things along. Lucky for me (and the other patrons), the assembly line staff were super efficient and knew what they were doing. Upon payment, I was even greeted by Sam, the store/regional manager who thanked me for coming! Food: Needless to say, the family enjoyed the pizza and were excited to admit that they had found a new favorite local pizza place. Mom loved the overload of veggies, dad loved the chickpeas, and my brother and I devoured the spicy tomato and garlic sauced custom pies. No complaints! The craft sodas are also amazing. The Mango Passionfruit one is my favorite. Environment: Very modern seating. Benched tables and double stools. The space isn't HUGE but it can easily seat 30-40 guests. Lighting is ambient and the buzz isn't all too loud. Great spot to grab an affordable bite.

Yay!! The Germantown location has finally opened up! Stopped there after the movies last night with the bff. We got the Grecian Market and Backyard Garden with pepperoni to split & try. Thumbs up to the Grecian Market. So much more flavor than the Backyard Garden. They were both good, but the Grecian was definitely my favorite. Will try doing a make your own next time. Service was good. The longest part of the process was the dough "rolling". Other than that, everything else seemed to move pretty fast.

Really more 2 1/2 stars than 3 but this is only if compared to the best pizza places, not icky carry out like Pizza Hut, Papa Johns, or Dominos (it's way better than these places). You choose your dough (whole wheat or white-went with the whole wheat and it was fine), cheese (opted for the chunks of mozzarella-it didn't seem to have much flavor), next come veggie and meat toppings (did 1/2 & 1/2); they seem to be decent quality, a trip down the conveyor belt oven (like Quiznos), finished off with tomatoes and herbs. *Needs better beverage options

It's a great chipotle like concept for flat bread! You have tons of options to select and price is roughly 9 bucks! Excellent place for vegan/vegetarian. Ancient grain aka while grain crust is good. However, any one who is pizza snob, this is not authentic pizza place, it's more like fancy flatbread type of thing so try their margarita type of things; instead you should mix and match diff sauce, toppings and enjoy like sandwich or flatbread. You should try once and can be great lunch alternative compare to typical subs.

"We have a pizza problem." And man, is it yummy. My wife and I are two NYC ex-pats, so we're always on the lookout for a fair pizza experience. Since moving to Germantown, pickings have been slim. There's this has station pizza everyone swears by, there's Milano's, there used to be Rustic Oven for a great margherita, but that's been it. Enter &pizza, which is what happens when you marry great pizza crafting with conveyor belt mechanics. They first opened a month ago, and some of the reviews reflect their shakedown period. I've been there three times this week, and each time I've been impressed with the staff's attitude, relative competence and fresh, fresh toppings. I tend to a more traditional approach, regular dough and sauce, fresh mozz with pepperoni, bacon and basil. My wife likes the Farmer's Daughter. My 3yr old son loves a meatball pizza. It's not the classic triangle or square. Enter the Age of the Oval. These guys had me at "Welcome." Come for the pizza. Stay for the chill beats.

Definitely doesn't deserve all the hype, the people who work here are slow and kinda rude and act like they don't want people to walk through the door. Not to mention it is kinda pricey. The pizzas and the selection of toppings are OK. Idk maybe I'm not into the whole designer pizza enterprise enough.

The whole experience of the place was amazing!!! My friends and I were greeted with happy smiling staff who were more than happy to assist us in the process since it was our first time there. The pizza was ready in no time and the explosive taste was just top notch. We all loved the food and will definitely be back for more.

Hands down my favorite pizza joint. You can get bigger pizza, you can get rounder pizza, you can get pizza in a less what-shape-is-that-anyway box, but you can't get better pizza. (Drops keyboard)

I've seen this concept in dc. But my kids hadn't so we went. I didn't have high hopes as I watched them make it. I got the moonstruck which was mushroom. My daughter got the gnarlic. My son just s pepperoni pizza. Boy were we surprised. So good. And the custom sodas were good too. The ginger lemonade and mango passion fruit were the best .

&Pizza is a new pizza restaurant in Germantown, and it's really something awesome. They have a wide selection of meats, vegetables, cheeses etc. To build the pizza of your choice. It's like chipoltle, but with pizza, which I found to be a dream. There's also a really nice selection of drinks to choose from here, all original. My favorite pear and fig elixir. For anyone wanting to find a new resturant, this is definitely the spot

I'm writing an update to my previous review posted on 6/26/15. After I had written my earlier review, I received an email from the new management of the Germantown, MD &Pizza. They said that they wanted to let me know that they wished I had had a 5-star experience (instead of 4-star) and they were making changes to help improve customer experiences. Well, I wanted to write this update because my family and I have noticed that the service at our neighborhood &Pizza HAS improved over the past several months, as well as the quality of the pizza. That is because we visit our &Pizza every week - it's now a family tradition to visit the restaurant on our weekends. I'm definitely happy to say that we will continue to be loyal customers and we are happy that little changes have been made to improve customer service as well as the consistency of the quality of the pizzas. It's nice to know that there are some restaurants that really do listen to their customers' feedback and address it. Thank you Germantown &Pizza!

Tried this place for the first time today. I realllly enjoyed it. I love the variety and the vegan and gluten free options makes it pretty awesome. The staff was really friendly and welcoming. My pizza was seriously delicious. I think I ate the pizza in about 2 minutes it was so delicious. Definitely will be going back!

To whom it may concern, We came in love with & Pizza lost year in DC when we stay there for short time and when on several occasions back. A few month later we relocated from LA California to Germantown Maryland and again we found our way back to your DC location to enjoy your &pizza, then we found out you open one in Germantown on Century Blvd and we couldn't more happy to have one here 5 minutes away of our home. We went there one day of the grand opening and even that it's was not the same as your DC location we where happy and hoping that thing would get better as this location was new. We been back on several occasions and it's been on and of with our experience one day perfect a other so so, depending on what time we would come in and if manager was present. Last night we went in to order this time to take out rather then eating in. It's was around 7:50 PM wen I came in and from the start line went wrong with the sauce, then the topping and after the gentleman correct twice and still mess up the sauce the pizza went in oven so I walk over to check out and pay already the two pizzas and 2 sodas as I waited for the pizza to come out oven and have the final ingredients have put on. The server at check out (xxxxx)wasn't guests friendly and rather unprofessional towards me. When I ask on one pizza basil and arugula with Parmesan and she reach out to the basil I ask her do you have any other basil then this one which look bad ( black and shriveled) she threw it back and upset walk away to get fresh bag from the back kitchen. Then when she finish the second pizza which I ask for arugula, Parmesan cheese and olives she threw a huge amount of black olives on to the pizza and that point I felt very uncomfortable to say anything and this was notice be a other girl whom finish it of and pass the two boxes with pizza to me. It's seems that when manager isn't present the staff doesn't seem to care as much as when manager is there every guests is treated equally

I am a pizza snob! Who doesn't want the perfect crust, plenty of cheese, and loads of toppings? Well, &Pizza has it all. Last night, I had the chance to sample their signature pizzas at their new Germantown location and they were great. My favorites were the Gnarlic pizza with roasted garlic, ricotta cheese, mozzarella and all rolled up in doughy goodness. My second favorite was the moonstruck pizza with mushroom truffles, fig Marsala sauce, red peppers, and goat cheese. So decadent that I wanted to savor every bite. What can top this? The desert pizza with 4 kinds of berries, white chocolate, powdered sugar, and sweet ricotta cheese and yes, honey. It was a desert lovers dream. A shout out to Alea and Sam who were the perfect hosts and Steve who is owner and creator of this fast growing chain of pizza parlors in DC and Maryland. Fresh ingredients, unusual toppings, and superb taste. The prices are reasonable and the pizza is delicious. So, help support your local businesses and give &Pizza a try. There are a lot more signature pizzas to chose from.

Design your own pizzas. They have 6 to 8 signature pieces you can choose from or you can design your own where you get to choose the Dough, the type of sauce, and whatever toppings you like. It's under $10 for your own pizza. The dough and mozzarella cheese are made in house. It's made thin sliced which I really like.I had the gnarlic and my boyfriend designed his own. They are opening another location closer to me in Gaithersburg at the crown. I am excited because I will come here all the time. Pictures posted...

I recently went here for dinner with my wife and daughter. It was a Saturday around 6:30pm so it was busy, but the staff was very polite and outgoing, explained the process to us since we were first timers and helped entertain my 10 month old. Even with the interaction they kept the line moving pretty quickly. The food was actually a very pleasant surprise as well. It was kind of a fast food pizza place and I preferred it to any of the other chains in the area. We will definitely be back!

Since this review the very concerned manager emailed me and wanted to know what could have gone wrong the day we went. Ultimately the food And atmosphere was great. My wife was very ill that evening and it could have been a food source from there or not. The point here is that the employee who thought it was ok probably didn't and the person who ate it should have demanded a new pizza and she didnt.( it was too late by the time I saw it and my pizza was being made. We're alive and well so we will give it another try. Thanks for reaching out and trying to help.

I am a pizzaholic! For fast, casual, and inexpensive, &pizza hits the spot. For $9.00 you can create a pizza to your own specifications - lots of toppings or just a few. One tip, too many makes the pizza hard to pick up without everything falling off. I was happy to see more seating than in the Bethesda location. It is still limited but 9 of us were able to sit almost together without a problem. Looking forward to bringing my vegan daughter back as they have Daiya cheese available.

So when I saw that this was opening I was uber happy. When you come here, its a bit disorganizing. Your kind okay how do I order?Theres no sense of direction. The one distraction are the huge tables. I came here with my friend and we each order are own pizzas because we were very hungry and not too sure how big the pizza was gonna be. Once we got to the menus there was endless possibilities on how to order. I kept mine simple and savory .I loved that I got to pick and choose my sauce, my cheese and my toppings. Employees were cool and helpful. The sodas are not typical but who cares. Its soo good and goes well with your pizza meal. Most of all this place is very inexpensive and honestly you can share one pizza with a friend.

I'm originally from New York. Finding good pizza in Maryland is hard. I have never eat at a pizza place that was that good!!!! This pizza was absolutely the bomb! Considering that I had the vegan pizza, it was as I were eating a regular pizza. I would definitely be going back on pay week!!!

  • Andy E.

I like the place. Everybody is nice. The variety is really good. Wish they had banana peppers. But it's not a big deal. It's a good pizza that doesn't taste like a chain restaurant. There wasn't a huge crowd so I got in and out quickly. Curious to see how they handle a heavy lunch or dinner rush. It's now in my regular rotation.

Stopped by &Pizza for the first time last week. I think the idea is interesting (think Chipotle but with Pizza) but the execution wasn't fantastic. At this location there's very little room to move around, it wasn't very busy when we went but on a busy night it must be a pain. Food wasn't bad, decent pizza and having the choice of toppings exactly how you want it is pretty cool. Prices are good considering it's customized to your order.

I loveee this place! Food is awesome!!! Facility is so busy during lunch and evenings. You must try!! My fav is their maverick signature pizza. You can create your own pizza too. Price is fair. Friendly staff is always a plus.

This place is awesome. Customize your own pizza or choose one of the options. Everything is fresh and the crust is thin so it's kinda healthy compared to regular pizza and well worth the $$

We love this place. Totally customizable pizza and it's yummy! My kids like it, my spouse likes it and I like it. It's not too pricey, it's fast, and it's fresh. Win!

Was happy to find a location in Germantown. Have been to Bethesda location and enjoyed it. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The gentleman who helped me went out of his way to accommodate my husband's food allergies. I had the Backyard Garden. Everything tasted fresh. My husband built his own concoction that turned out tasty as well. I am looking forward to the location opening up in Pike and Rose. Lots of different options of toppings to choose from if you are feeling adventurous.

I have been here a few times and have been meaning to write a review. The first time I came here, I was blown away by the service, attention to detail and the quality of the pizza. Upon finding out I am vegan, everyone changed their gloves! That's more care than my mom gives me. Second time here was amazing. I had just moved in to (conveniently) right down the road and had to treat my "crew". The place was bustling but the service, again, was amazing. The third time I ate &pizza, a coworker picked it up for me and delivered. I don't know how the service was, I presume great, but the pizza was to die for. Now today's visit marked my fourth to the establishment. A coworker and I were starving and ready to eat away our work frustrations. When we showed up about 33 minutes after the place opened we were astonished by the one customer ahead of us attitude. A very large corporate order had been placed and in the 33 minutes after the store opened it wasn't completely ready. Instead of expressing her frustrations in a reasonable and mature manner, this "mature" woman yelled at, berated and even threatened the staff. (I kid you not, she said "I could literally kill you all.. I'm going to be so late"). In hindsight, I really should have called the police. But I didn't. Instead, I allowed the (still smiling) staff to focus on this woman's order and inhumane attitude and everyone being yelled at behind the counter by her STILL continued to treat me with kindness, respect and smiles. I don't know what caused this lady to have such an awful morning, but I truly hope she finds the happiness she deserves. As for Jason and the rest of the team? Keep up the good work. We'll be back. And so will our friends. And parents. And brothers. And everyone we know because damn your pizza is so good.

So glad this place to Germantown. It's a really great concept to be able to build your own pizza with all of the toppings you want for a set price. You can two meals out of one personal pizza if you really want too. It's hard not to keep eating it all on one setting though because it's so yummy! The only thing that prevents a 5 start rating is that the pizzas aren't quite as hot as I would like them.

  • Windsor L.

The employees are still very green and had to reference the ingredient list far too many times for their menu items. They also asked me a ton of toppings questions. At some point, I thought just give me what the menu says I don't care. My pizza had poorly distributed ingredients and the "scrambled egg" on top was literally a guy breaking the egg in his hand and trying to mix it up with his fingers on the pizza. I got raw egg even after it was cooked. The store itself looks neat, but it isn't setup well for crowds. Given the steep learning curve and initial customer confusion, the space is going to turn into a huge traffic jam. With people waiting in line by the door anyone coming in won't know where to go. I can't say that I have much confidence in this fast casual pizza experience.

    (2)
  • Kerry R.

Staff is pretty good, but it's one of those places where EVERYTHING echoes, so it's very loud. The first pizza, they mistakenly gave me the spicy tomato sauce. They offered to make me another, and then I got chicken instead of sausage, just in case the sausage was spicy too. The effing chicken is spicy! I just can't eat here.

Full disclosure, we scored a few free pizza coupons from a coworker and used those to get a couple of pizzas to go. That having been said, I was wishing I'd bought a few more (to share of course) because the ones we did get were so good! The pizzas are fresh and the flavors are great, from crust to toppings. You can make your own with a generous amount of choices, or choose one off the menu. They also have tasty sounding salads. The Moonstruck pizza was by far my favorite. The pizzas can feed two, or one for lunch with leftovers. We came in the second half of the lunch rush and were out very quickly, making this an even better option if you work nearby and don't have a long lunch. I'm looking forward to my next visit to try more menu items!

The pizza was quite good, but the the space is extremely tight. Seating is limited so if you want to eat there, don't go during lunch or dinner hours!

Above average pies with lots of unique build your own options. Multiple cheeses and vegetarian friendly protein options here. I don't like the drinks though which offer nothing similar to coke or pepsi.

Yummy pizza! Cant get any better than fast food pizza. They have recommended pizzas and build your own. My son loved it too!

Coming from someone that's a pizza connoisseur, this is one of the best I've ever had. The place is neat and clean and the customer service was exceptional. I opted to build my own pizza, the toppings were very fresh and you have many choices to select from. This definitely is a great addition to Germantown, looking forward to returning with the family.

Love the Subway adaptation to pizza. This pizza store has an interesting take on making your own pizza. The ingredients are in front of you as like many other make your own sandwich places. The sauces are a variety and the toppings are unique. Never thought i would like an over easy egg on my pizza but i love it! They do have a dessert pizza which is good if they don't over cook it.

This is one of best pizza places i have been too in awhile. The fresh ingredients and nice feeling overall in the restaurant. But one thing that could be better is the service, i mean the workers are nice and treat us really week but the line moves very slowly. But other than that, &pizza is really great!

Just visited for the first time for lunch today. It was delicious! I ordered a pizza that someone recently recommended (spicy sauce, mozzarella, jalapeno, pepperoni, arugula, spicy chili oil) and a side salad with the lemon dressing. Everything was great! If you get a salad I would recommend sharing a pizza as I only ate 3 of the 8 slices as I was stuffed. The side salad was huge and loaded with pecans and cheese. I didn't get a soda but the soda machine sounded interesting so next time I will try one out. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back and try out a veggie pizza as it all looked so good!

I went there the other day and the services was good, they greeted me when we walk in and very nice. I think it was to many behind he counter as they are confusing them selfs. It would be nice if someone explained what was going on and how the line worked but the just said take a menu. Then because most of them are teenagers the do play around little much and I lot of them knew my daughter coming in. So since we didn't know how this worked we just picked the original crust, original sauce, regular cheese, Carmelite onions and pep on one side and just pep on the other. Done then we paid and toke our pizza once in the car about to go home it wasn't our pizza, the gentleman pull this pizza and it was just a cheese pizza and handed it to us. Once we return the apologized to us but we still had to stand in line and what for another pizza to be made. They should get numbers and hand them out to keep track of prefer and the need to explain the process of the line. One of the workers was asking us did we want some kind of sauce on top of our pizza. No, we don't know what it is. They also was looking for the people who ordered a salad and they was just asking everyone. Well the pizza was really good after we got what we orders and I would return.

This is more of an artisan place as opposed to your standard dominoes. Non-circular pies and a very hot oven. Many different choices in terms of dough, sauces, meats, vegetables and other ingredients. You can select specific pizzas from the menu, all of which sound great to me, or make your own pizza for, I'm told, the same price. I ordered the farmer's daughter and maverick. Both delicious.

Good pizza. However make sure you read ALL the ingredients in the pre-made specialty pizza. Hidden about 5 ingredients deep is red chili oil. There are 4 of 8 pizzas that gave this ingredient. This makes the pizza super spicy. Wish I could've seen that level of spice-I-ness first. I should stick with just plain or do a customize. Music is a little loud for my daughters sensitive ears. Also only about 3 low tables for families. Else you'd have to sit along the window all in a row. Great seating for groups w/o kids but not super great (aka not a lot of) seating for families w little kids.

  • Debbie K.

The pizza here is excellent. The staff, very nice and helpful. Food was ready quickly and the house made sodas were yummy. The problem is the tiny set up. I'd recommend getting your pizza to go. The seating is cramped and tight and the line forms up and no one can squeeze past. I will definitely go back, but I will get it to go.

Plenty of parking Located at the corner, next to safeway, toward near corner bakery and not the gas station. Make your own pizza store (chipotle style pizza) You can choose your dough (traditional or ancient grain/wheat?), sauce (lots of options, and many many toppings. They also can put more than one sauce on your dough if you like and you can make a half and half pizza :) After you choose all your toppings it goes through the oven belt and then you are at another station with the finishing toppings (toppings you do not cook- arugula, crumbled cheese, oils, etc). They also have signature pizzas, so if you aren't sure how you'd like to make it then you can choose from the signatures and are able to add and take off items. dough, sauce, and cheese is $6.84 before tax and signatures and make your own pizzas are $8.96 before tax They also have dessert pizza I've tried 5 different signature pizzas and they have all been really good! They may forget to add stuff (it's happened to me), but if they forgot something you can always mention it to them or get it on the side! :) Service is great! Staff was really friendly and helpful!

Boy am I a fan of the high end fast food movement. &pizza has a plethora of topping options allowing you to extremely personalize your one serving pizza for an extremely reasonable $9 price point. I made a spicy tomato base, fresh moz, jalapeño, pepperoni, arugula, spicy chili oil pizza of yum.

I was tried of the usual suspects on the street. I felt like pizza and stopped in. Great idea on the build your own pizza idea. What I didn't like was when the pizza builder used the same gloves for my pepperoni as was used for the shrimp. That was really a minor point! What came out was a great little pizza at a reasonable price pizza and a limonata $11.50. Friendly staff! I'll be back

I was super excited to see that &pizza was coming to Germantown. It took them close to a year to open their doors, but the wait was well worth it. The pizzas are quite simply the best. The atmosphere is modern, sleek and stylised, but comfy and inviting. The staff was very friendly and knew their stuff. Even the manager came to my table. He was very friendly and asked me how everything was (Wow!). I built my own pizza with garlic base, both cheeses, mushrooms, bacon, feta cheese and red pepper chili oil. It's basically their "Gnarlic" pizza with a few customizations. No Coke or Pepsi products here, instead they have their own craft sodas. I usually get the root beer, but this time I tried the Pear and Fig Elixir. It's now my new favorite! Everything was just perfect. My only slightly negative observation is that this location doesn't cut the pizza in front of you, but rather off to the back, out of sight. I think this takes away from the Wow Factor that the DC locations I've been to all seem to have. Certainly not a deal breaker though. I'll be a regular. Love it!!!

This place is the Chipotle of pizza! Love it! they have so many toppings and something for everyone-including many vegan options(spicy chickpeas, vegan crumbles, vegan cheese etc). The mozzarella is go homemade daily and is delicious. The Italian sausage is complex but not overly salty and is my fav! Took off one star because the ordering process is disorganized. The toppings and sauces used to be listed on the menu you that you could make a plan for what to have. They took the selections off the menu and had them displayed on the windows near the food. This was okay but you had to really decide what topping you wanted on the spot. Now they made it worse because the toppings aren't even posted on the windows anymore so the employees have to tell you what every sauce is, which topping is what etc. it slows down the line and I absolutely can't imagine working there and having to tell every person what the 9 sauces are. They could easily improve this and it wouldn't take so long to get through the line. Still good pizza and if you don't go at peak time you won't wait forever in line!

I have been to this location twice since it opened, and have been a fan of their older locations for some time now. &Pizza is a great place to eat for a fresh and quick meal. My kids love it because they get to "make" their own pizza and watch it being created. I love it because I can get all the toppings that I want since I don't have to share the pizza with my kids. My favorite is a "make your own" with lots of fresh mozzarella, the cheese blend, traditional dough & sauce, and topped with mushrooms & pepperoni. The new Germantown location has tons of seats, and some large communal tables, so it's great for groups.

Food: Very good. One of the best pizza places I've eaten at. Price: Decent. Price will seem a bit expensive relative to the likes of Chipotle, but the pizza is large enough that portion size is proportional to price. Service: Good. Line staff are well trained and courteous. Ambience: Can get a bit noisy at peak times, but nowhere near deafeningly loud.

So far, I'm more of a fan of the concept than the results. I can't resist the choices, choices, choices, and options. Actual pies have been respectable if not overwhelming. But I'm inclined to keep trying combos and experimenting. I also have to appreciate that they're bringing the big-city contemporary angle out to the G'Town boonies. Really big shout out to their having gluten-free crusts and being GF friendly, which is key for a couple members of my clan.

Went in for my first time and this is my new lunch spot. I got to talk to the manager Jason and I had a lot of respect for his business mindset and outlook on the reality of life. They really put love into what they do. But from the hand made sodas to the personalize gourmet pizzas this is one of the best places to eat in Germantown.

Stopped in to get a pizza. Concept is similar to the pizzeria in the SLS Las Vegas with much less space. Never got to try the pizza as all three employees behind the counter were too busy talking and joking with each other to take my order. Waiting for 5 minuted to be acknowledged and then walked out. Luckily, the register is poorly located by the front door so it was a short walk.

Easy peasy.

Still a few kinks here but SO much better than the last two times! Busy Friday night and the line is adequately staffed with people who are all smiles. Many thanks to Sam who reached out about all my feedback!

Not bad at all for my 1st visit. The staff was every helpful and fast. The only member that didn't seen happy with her job was the cashier. I created my own pizza and it was great! I will be returning soon!

I love it!

Love it!!!

Great pizza, fresh tasty ingredients. Didn't like the signature selection as flavors got lost. But I'm a traditionalist. Loved my simple tomato sauce, mozz & basil pie. Too bad they don't take phone orders but without a big line, it went fairly quick.

We tried a bunch of their vegetarian pizzas. The concept is pretty novel, liked the choices of toppings and the crust is just how we like it, thin and crisp. It's a little pricey for what you get and not exactly fast but definitely recommend.

Win!

Great food. Variety of toppings. Staff was very friendly. Manager even sat down with us to ask if we were okay or if everything was good. I definitely recommend &pizza at this location.
