I was really sad when I went to "caribou" and I found it to be replaced. But I drove all this way so I decided to give the place a try. I pulled myself out of the car and cried my self to this odd coffee shop. I got to the door let out a huff and an ugh and pulled the handle and dragged myself inside. An BOOM!!!! The smell of wonderfully brewed coffee slammed me right in the face!! I looked up wildly and seen a beautiful designed coffee shop and a smiley face waiting for me order. The guy was so bubbly and happy and couldn't wait for me to try their coffee. My order was up and I sipped my drink and WOW, that was some good brew!! I came in glum and left on my toes!!!!

Been here quite a few times now, a welcome addition to Crofton and a great alternative when you want a coffee shop that feels a bit more local than your standard, run-of-the-mill Starbucks. I got an iced chai tea for the first time the other day and it was absolutely outstanding! Their breakfast sandwiches (I get the bacon, egg, and gouda on wheat) are great too. The baked good leave a lot to be desired though and are often dry. Still, half the time I wind up getting them because I am a sucker for anything sweet. Dipping it in my tea normally does the trick. Ambiance-wise, it hasn't change much since this location was a Caribou Coffee, but somehow or another it has more of a soul now that Caribou is out. It just FEELS better there in a way. All in all, definitely happy that Zü is here. Nice spot to set up for a meeting, do some work, and make it an afternoon.

Best. Coffee. Ever. Haven't gone to a Starbucks or dunkin donuts since finding this place.

Super-friendly staff, delicious coffee, and a beautiful shop. All in all, a great addition to the Waugh Chapel area. I only had their muffins, but plan to go back and try one of their sandwiches or breakfast.

Great coffeehouse! We have been back many times now, and we enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. The Baristas are helpful and friendly and the coffee is great! I've tried several new drinks on their recommendations

They're nice, we like the coffees and baked goods, and always a nice place to come hang out, study, or meet a friend. We did love the caribou coffee a lot that this one replaced, but that's not Zu Coffee's fault... Maybe they should have a zebra as their mascot to bring back some animal. ;)

I went to Zu coffee at Waugh Chapel center because I am just tired of Starbucks. I'm tired of their prices, I'm tired of waiting in lines, and I'm tired of their hipster employees acting like they're doing me a favor by selling me a $5 latte. My first impression of Zu was that it was nice and clean and comfortable. They have couches and coffee tables (no pun intended) and just pleasing decor. Back in my college days this would have been a great place to get wired on strong coffee and study. Great place to quietly read a book too. Can't do that at Starbucks...all the comfortable seats are always taken.... I ordered a white chocolate mocha latte (or something along those lines.. cant remember the exact name of the drink). It was fresh, sweet, and delicious. The woman behind the counter was very courteous and friendly. Coffee came out very quickly. Zu features: NO LINES NO PRETENTIOUS DBAGS FREE WIFI Delicious premium drinks that cost 20% less than SBucks. This is my new coffee place for sure. I have read some other Yelp reviews about Zu's bagels or pastries not being too good. I can't really speak to that since I don't usually get food at coffee places. I will say that from what I saw of their merchandise, everything looked fresh and tasty to me.... Four stars for now. Maybe upgraded to 5 stars after a few more great lattes... Starbucks would get 2 stars...so Zu is already ahead of the game. Go Zu!

Went back to see if a few months had changed anything. Not only were they out of steak, according to the barista, they don't carry steak and she wasn't sure why they advertised it. Their awesome new special up on the chalkboard was strawberry honey cream cheese - which they were out of. Oh, also COMPLETELY sold out of bagels. Really, you should only come here if you like crappy coffee and a coffeehouse vibe.

This place is a good alternative to Starbucks... small, cozy and clean. It's definitely a better meeting place than the Waugh Chapel Starbucks. They have almond milk also! The only drawback is there is not as big of a drink selection.

I was feeling really skeptical about this place because I happened to love caribou that used to live in that space.. So I went in already thinking it wouldn't measure up. I went simple and got a flavored coffee and a muffin.. The ladies behind the counter were super friendly and happy while making my drink. She was so excited that she even forgot to get me my muffin, but they were more than polite and happy to get t for me. Since it was a nice day I chose to sit outside and enjoy my treats.. It was nice that all the tables had umbrellas to shade myself from the sun but there were some areas where the bugs were out on attack! Overall I'll add it to my list of decent coffee places but I don't think I'll go out of my way to get a drink from here.

This former Caribou Coffee location maintained much of the same atmosphere as before although the set up in front is a little lighter. The bites offered are a little sparse in comparison to the previous establishment. But the service is friendly and the beverages satisfying. This is definitely a good quite spot to hunker down for a cup of joe and alternative workspace.

I got an americano and wow so strong. So much caffeine i could not see straight. I love strong coffee but wow.

Fantastic service, a great replacement for Caribou. Favorite thing to get is the Chai, hot or iced. The best place to get coffee and relax in the Waugh Chapel shopping center by far.

I come here regularly for my coffee. Whether it be a drip or a 'specialty' coffee like a cappuccino or latté, it's always a good experience.

Before the Waugh Chapel location I went to Zu Coffee a few times. The drinks were ok and the staff friendly. The bakery goods were terrible. I even had to bring something back once because it tasted off. When it opened at Waugh Chapel I thought I would give it another chance because I live across the street and I missed Caribou. The drinks were good but the pastries were still terrible. They were either tasteless or bad. I don't understand why they don't change where they get their food. Everyone I've talked to has complained about the food. The 3 stars are for the staff and the atmosphere.

Support your local small business! First and foremost, the coffee is great! The atmosphere is nice, warm, inviting. They have free wifi. I am so glad that they've filled in the space at Waugh Chapel and now I have other places to hang out besides the corporate giant.

Awful coffee, Chai and blueberry scones. Bad service. Server did not remember to give us our scones (which were doughy and unflavorful) and the chai was all whipped, warm milk with no chai flavor. What a waste.

Sadly, this place is a dirty version of Caribou. Hand prints on the front door and pastry case greet you when you arrive. Flies. An absolutely filthy bathroom. If they treat the visible part of the store this way, imagine what the back room/food storage looks like.

Local, friendly, and delicious! What could be better? They also use cleaner ingredients than Starbucks

For a first time customer I was a tad bit surprised when I ordered a cherry limeade & the employee popped open a can of Minute Maid frozen limeade concentrate. Now I get that most of the magic happens behind the curtain but like most magicians let's work on keeping some of the trade secrets just that. I did enjoy my limeade but chuckled to myself as I decided to adopt their method for spin on beverages I'll serve at a get together. All the employees were nice enough. I didn't have a taste for any of their pastries but the selection was sparse. In their defense it was late on a Saturday so perhaps the majority of items had been sold by the time I arrived.

This place is alright. I had high hopes because I frequented Caribou. Unfortunately, it's just 'ok'. The first thing I got was the hot chocolate, because Caribou had THE BEST hot chocolate and it was my main reason for my frequent visits. I was so disappointed; it's nothing special at all, honestly I feel like I could have made better at home. I can't explain it, it was just...bland. I know Caribou's secret was that they used actual chocolate chips; maybe Zu should try that. Next I tried the coffee. I chose their house blend. Again, I was really disappointed. It tasted like something I could get at 7-11 or some other convenience location. I had to load it up with other flavors to convince myself it was good. It tasted maybe...burnt, or something along those lines. On a positive note, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is nice. I'm glad another coffee shop is there at least. I work up the street, so I'm sure I'll be back. I do hope there are improvements in quality down the line though. I can appreciate that small, family-owned businesses don't have the type of funds to put out top-of-the-line products, but I think there are some ways around that with some tweaking.

I am not a big coffee drinker but it is one of those things I get an inkling for on those days where you need an extra shot to get through the morning. The place is very clean and cozy. This was my second visit as I have only visited early in the mornings around 530. Despite not being a connoisseur of coffee this establishment is a good alternative over the other big coffee chains that are so present in Waugh Chapel.

Zu has some of the best coffee in the area. I used to be a devoted Starbucks drinker, but after tasking Zu's brew I no longer go for the over-roasted coffee. I love the fact that they are a local company well established in Annapolis and now here in Gambrills.

Rather charmless former Caribou coffee. I was hoping when it changed over they would introduce some cute local flavor but no dice. Not much decorating the walls except for a cork board. I might be biased as a fan of the former Caribou coffee place, but I was disappointed to see that they hadn't done anything to make this space their own. Pro - they have iced decaf coffee. Con - bathrooms are pretty gross.

Zu coffee is a welcome change to Starbucks. The coffee choices are great and I believe the Dark Roast has a better, richer flavor then Starbuck's standard grind, Pike's Place. Pike's Place is ok, but I believe that Zu's coffee is better. The store is the same configuration as the former Caribou Coffee and I believe it's a better meeting place than the Waugh Chapel Starbucks. In fact, the Waugh Chapel Starbucks has limited seating... Overall this is a great, little, coffee house.
