Fabulous authentic food like in Bogota but outside at the tables it seemed more like being back in Cartagena! We were warmly greeted and quickly served even at the slow time in most places of 3:30. Ahhh! Aguila cerveza y empenadas crujientes! Cazuela de Frijoles! We went down the menu like a garden of delights and decided to take some super Tomales home as well. We were so full eating slowly that dessert will be reserved for our next visit. Hopefully with more special friends to share the experience The in store candy packs were real nice and bring back childhood memories but oh the coffee at the end was exceptional! Everyone was on their toes and attentive and the place though small inside was immaculate even the restroom ( there is a secret in there I will not divulge here). So with great food, friendly service and really reasonable prices this place is a gem in Gaithersburg Kentlands district well worth a 30 minute drive from Virginia any day. Walkable area with loads of free public parking in back.

Everybody else is leaving five star reviews, which I'd love to do as well, but I have no other Colombian restaurants or experience with Colombian cuisine to compare Colombian Breeze against. However, I'll say that as I rolled my happy, stuffed belly out the front door, I swore I'd be back for more. The restaurants itself is quaint, clean, and welcoming. They have a ginormous flat screen television hanging from one corner, which was on a soccer game while we were there. Lively music was playing in the background...not too loud and a great mood setter. We started with the mouth-watering empanadas. We got four good sized, crunchy (and not even the slightest bit greasy) on the outside pockets filled with perfectly hot and comforting potatoes and shredded beef on the inside. With some ice cold Aguila beer to wash it all down, we could have stopped there and been perfectly happy. However, we kept on going and ordered a chorizo salad and their "small" picada combination platter. I would never have thought to combine salad with chorizo sausage, but it was delicious. The "small" picada platter (and I keep emphasizing small because it was enormous) was delicious as well...more of an assortment of meats, potatoes, and slices of arepa (cornmeal and cheese bread). We seriously over-ordered and brought a lot home with us. Everything was very nicely prepared...everything fried was not greasy or heavy in the least, and everything else tasted super fresh. Our servers were very nice, explained the different ingredients and foods, and made sure we were happy with everything. We are SO glad we stopped in for lunch, and will most definitely go back to try some more of their menu.

This restaurant had very good food, friendly service and a nice atmosphere. I have not had Colombian food before so I have nothing to compare it too. I enjoy various ethnic food and will certainly be adding this place into my regular rotation of places.

My friend and I were in the mood for Colombian food so we took a trip to Gaithersburg to this little gem. Service was excellent and the food was delicious!!!! 5 Stars!!!

I'm half Colombian but have never been. However, my dad was born there and just came back from vacation and wanted to remember the good times. This place did not disappoint. First, they let us in a little early (dad didn't check hours on line) as they were pretty much ready for anything. The tamales were huge and delicious! I can vouch for authenticity since my grandma makes them and they reminded me of her :] The juices were pricey but worth it. The server, the owner I'm assuming, was very welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. He talked to us without feeling annoyed and even knew about my beloved Blacksburg and the Hokies! Great place to chill, clean bathroom. They even have a little stand for things related to Colombia like candy and such. Will visit again!

This is what a casual restaurant should be. The food is amazing. The portion sizes are gigantic. The service is friendly; both the waitress and owner are warm and caring. The environment transports you to Colombia. I have absolutely no complaints and nothing but praise. I recommend the Bandeja Paisa on your first visit to this wonderful establishment. I will be returning time and time again to sample everything and I know I will not be disappointed.

I came into town on business and I was looking for a place that had great Colombian Food and this was the place. I took a chance not knowing anything about the place and I was very happy with the food and service. I drive my wife crazy for every place I go I have to find a Colombian restaurant. Sometimes it's win or lose, but this time was a total win. I love Bandeja Paisa dish where ever I go and that is how I judge the place and this place made it excellent! If you can't make the Colombian signature dish then you can't call yourself a Colombian restaurant. If I am ever back in town I have a place to return too. I hope they stay in business for many years to come.

My husband and I recently ventured out to Colombian Breeze from our home in Alexandria. My husband is Colombian, and this is the only Colombian restaurant we know of in the DC area. We were not disappointed! The bandeja paisa and ajiaco were superb. The waiter and owner went out of their way to make us feel at home, even as we accidentally entered the restaurant through the back door! The restaurant is under new ownership, and the new owner seems to be as committed to customer service as he is to serving exceptional Colombian food. We will definitely be coming back!
