I expected good, but not GREAT! This place is incredible!?! Great prices, tasty food, fast service (my plate was ready before I was done paying), and the sauce. Oh dear baby Jesus marinated in soy...the s.a.u.c.e. I've never smoked crack before, but I imagine the experience is much like consuming the sauces at this restaurant. I'll be back. Whenever I'm in Frederick this is my #1 choice!

Consistently busy - which is good for quick Peruvian chicken joints. But also a tip for people to order ahead because you WILL WAIT IN LINE. I don't think I've ever been here when it's not busy. and I have been a few times. Anyhow - Chicken is phenomenal - juicy, seasoned to perfection, crispy skin, meat melts off the bone. Awesome with anyone of their sauces - blanco, amarillo and rojo. AWESOME!!! Love the smokey, rotisserie style chicken with the hot sauce paired with plantains, yucca, rice, coleslaw, whatever your fancy. MMMM and the rice!!!!!! Best fried rice - is "Spasian" style of course - a hybrid Chinese fried rice mixed w/ Spanish or Latin inspired flavors, egg, green onions and pieces of their chicken in a seasoned rice mix. so good. Yucca sometimes doesn't have the little fibers pulled off - I for one, don't really care about this but my kids do. Fries are good too though, sometimes they get a little greasy being in the box after 30 minutes when we get it to go. But not their fault, we should eat it while it's fresh. Other items we have tried - Gyro's - also awesome- beef/lamb mix with crema, queso fresco and typical fixins but mixed w/ Latin style/flair. - Papusas - these are not a menu item as far as I know- owner has a limited batch per day made but BOY are they awesome. If you can get your hands on one or a few - DO THAT now and get them with some rice or beans. the pork and beans and the cheese ones are my favs. All in all a very nice (but small) restaurant that has some ka-pow in the menu choices and quality of the food being served. I def. recommend it (if you're in a hurry, do call ahead)

After years of hearing about how wonderful Sardis is, I finally tried some take out from there last week. I will preface this by saying I was incredibly hungry, and as such the first portion of my food slid down my gullet without much attention to taste. However, once I rehinged my jaw and started breathing between bites, the chicken was really darn good. Now, for my dirty secret... if this was a blind taste test, I am not sure I could tell the difference between Sardis chicken and Crisp & Juicy. I know, don't tell anyone. But one day I'm going to do that comparison and report back. In the meantime, I will concede, it's good chicken. However, the sides for me weren't great. I got rice and beans and coleslaw. It was all stuff I could have made at home. The coleslaw was finely chopped, which I guess I don't do at home... but really, is that enough? No. I'll get chicken here again, but I likely won't waste money on the sides. Please don't hate me. I know everyone raves about this place. But it comes in third place for me in my great Peruvian chicken experiment.

We are in love with chicken...great every time! Tried the fried yucca for the very first time, and me and my husband love it!

Everybody raves about their chicken (and they're right to do so), but I found something else on the menu that's the bomb and I can't bring myself to order anything else whenever I come to this place. It's the seco de carne with cannelloni beans. It's beef short ribs braised in this other-worldly sauce goodness and paired with the most deliciously bean side dish ever. The rice just soaks up all this yumminess and you just can't get enough (I'm drooling as I write this). Anyway, yes the chicken is excellent but the seco de carne is beyond that. The meat gets so fall-off-the-bone tender. I don't know how they do that. The onion salad has this strange herby flavor that just goes perfectly with the beef. It's. Just. So. Good. Ok. Done drooling. Gotta drive there now.

Stopped here enroute to the Eastern Shore, based on Yelp reviews. So glad we did! We got a mixed grille - chicken, steak, shrimp, and chorizo - with fried yuca and fried plantains as sides. Also ordered a side of Peruvian fried rice. This was more than enough for two people! Everything was wonderful, and their sauces are out of this world! Before leaving we ordered a whole chicken to take to our daughter and son-in-law to enjoy. We definitely will be back!

I will admit that I don't know much about Peruvian food...but I do know that Sardi's is delicious!! It is a common go-to for me when relatives come into town that love good food. It's not fancy but I've never known anyone to be disappointed by it. The chicken is unbelievably moist and flavorful...seriously, I would pay to know their secret. I've never had better chicken anywhere and I probably eat chicken every day of my life!! Mixing the green and yellow sauces together for dipping/topping is the way to go. Yuca is obviously delicious! No strong opinions on any of the other sides, but they all look tasty. Good food, good prices and good people :)

  • Janean O.

The absolute best Peruvian chicken ever! The sauces are delicious, rice, beans, sweet plantains, even their gyros are delicious! My family and I love Sardi's. The line is out the door trying to get in so you know the food is good!

  • Ledbetter A.

I had a really bad experience today and had to say with competitors in Frederick for grilled chicken, this is most definitely not the way to go. My sons were there and we ordered one chicken to go and were told that we could only have a limited number of sauces. If this keeps up I am most certainly going to switch to Crisp N' Juicy.

The best chicken I have ever had in my life! If I could stand chicken every day and afford it I would be here everyday!

Oh Sardi's... Your chicken permeates my car on the way home...making me soooo very happy. I accidentally found you a few years ago...looking for a quickie lunch spot while working out of a ground level test kitchen -- i know...don't ask. But Sardi's...no, you are not Pollo Rico (my dc standard)...but you are...everything that reassures me that Frederick...one day will be....possibly...grow up to be a real city. Sardi's is a local peruvian rotisserie chain...local chain, this is good! If you are a migrant from the inner beltway, forced to move north for affordable housing you will appreciate that Sardi's is.. an authentic dc peruvian joint. I only comment on their whole chicken, black beans and yellow sauce (amarillo sauce).. i have seen patrons in uniform (from fort detrick i presume), recent spanish speakers that call our area home, and us other folks that accidentally (and intentionally) call fredneck home filling out the dinning area. I buy an additional small (or large) container of their yellow sauce -- it is my preferred addition to my fish tacos - though my cousin puts it on eggs too! The chicken is marinated and then rotisseried...when ordered a whole chicken they hack it into four pieces, they will cut into eight pieces when asked. They offer black beans (do i remember pinto also?), steak house cut fries, yuca, white rice, peruvian fried rice (love the waters of migration :)) and veg of the day....and i am sure some other side options that I have never considered. i am here for chix chix, black beans and french fries...with extra yellow sauce and really appreciate the extra heat of the green sauce that i dip my extra yellow sauce into. So good...you will be happy with Sardi's. And Frederick Alderman... i really hope that you do not demise the golden mile with...your walmart super center plans!!.

  • Carly W.

I love Peruvian chicken!!! This place is super fast and has space to eat inside. The yuca is definitely a go-to side, and the yellow and green sauces are the standbys. They are now giving them out prepackaged, which means you actually get more of their amazingness.

  • Tammy S.

Frederick gained a delicious chicken restaurant when Sardi's moved into town. I am addicted to their chicken and their dipping sauces compliment the chicken, the grilled plantains are like dessert. Yum! The food is always hot and juicy, no matter the time of day you stop for a meal. The staff is always friendly. Thank you for opening a restaurant in Frederick.

  • Valerie S.

THE BEST CHICKEN RESTAURANT IN TOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's always hot and juicy all the time. And so fresh. I love their sauces. I've tried chicken, yuca, papas, white rice, black beans, lomo saltado, and drinks. It's amazinnnnnggg. I used to live in Montgomery county all my live and go to Sardi's at Gaithersburg all the time. I moved here in Frederick county two years ago and Google if there is one in here and I fainted! Lol. I went to my car and drove to the place ASAP. It's a heaven for me. Love love loooooove their food. 5 stars!

Came here to give it another try, and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised this time around. Ordering is always a bit hectic and hard to hear, but the food was much better. The chicken was juicy and had a great flavor. The coleslaw was much much better after taste testing it at the counter. This time I opted for fried plantains as my side and oh my goodness, I am in love. They are the best fried plantains I have had, even better than Fogo de Chao. They have these great crispy candied ends which I could just not get enough of. They are hands down my new obsession. The commitment and dedication to providing their customers with the best high quality food was very apparent in my dealing with Sardi's. I am a fan and will be back very soon.

  • Erin S.

I really enjoy the food here more times. The chicken is well seasoned and fresh from the oven and the wait staff is nice. I really enjoy their plantains! The place also appears to very clean. This is a nice and affordable place to eat.

5 stars for food, 3 stars for location. We love the chicken - best in the area. The sauces are also delicious. We also like the variety of sides. The staff is friendly and helpful. I am a little nervous going after dark though.

  • Derek C.

My favorite chicken in Maryland. One of my favorite places to eat while down in College Park or at home. Everytime I come the chicken is perfectly charred with crispy skin and tender/juicy. I have tried the mixed ceviche and it was very good as well, but your first trip you have to do the chicken first. Go here about once a week down at school and always worth it. Most food for the money. Tip: rice and beans is considered one side.

    (5)
  • Rosalind C.

Service is great, prices are very reasonable & so worth the money in portions. Service is exceptionally pleasant. Parking can be tricky but there is an adjacent lot next door. Very clean, Nice to eat in sometimes but can be crowded during the week seating is limited.

    (5)
  • Natalie H.

The whole or half chicken specials are a good, inexpensive family dinner to go. The green sauce has just enough heat to be interesting, and the yellow sauce is mild enough for the kids. Order extra sauce! Not a fancy place, but the line is always fast and the service pleasant. I don't like to eat in due to the flimsy plastic silverware and the line of people waiting to order standing by the tables.

    (4)
  • C G.

Always sooo good! Chicken, shrimp, salmon...all good. My husband likes the pork chops too. Sides are great and huge! Favorites are the plantain, string beans, mixed veggies, fried or white rice. They give you a lot for the price. Recommend calling ahead if you're getting anything other than chicken. Takes a while...but worth it.

This place is legit. I could eat here everyday. There's this new place called The Golden Beak that's attempting to copy Sardis but they will never be as good.

  • Shawn T.

I had the 1/4 chicken white meat with beans and plantains and it was honestly the best chicken I have ever had. It was cooked perfectly and had amazing flavor. The beans were great and the plantains are absolutely wonderful. The three sauces they give you are so good I don't even know how to describe them. They're my favorite part of going to Sardis. I have not had a bad meal one time at Sardis. It is consistently amazing. Sardis is hands down one of the best places to eat in Frederick.

  • Sarah W.

While eating at Sardis over the weekend I said to my friend, "I'm cashing in my life savings and opening a Peruvian chicken place." He fully supported this idea!! I live outside of Philly and this type of place just doesn't exist near me. Maybe that's a good thing because I'd probably spend way too much money eating out otherwise. I was thankful there were a bunch of pics on Yelp because once I saw the Churrasco de pollo I knew it's what I wanted! The chicken was super tender and flavorful. The Peruvian fried rice was a bit odd in the sense that it tasted like fried rice from a Chinese place. My second side item was green beans, which were a little salty but tasty. My friend ordered a gyro...the best gyro I ever tasted! I only got one bite, but it was fantastic!! For dessert I couldn't pass up a piece of flan (they called it something different, but I don't speak Spanish and can't remember it. You won't regret dining here!!

I wrote a review for the other Sardis down 270 and my review here is pretty much the same. The food is great! Today I tried the Ceviche Mixto. For the past several weeks I've craved Ceviche from the various place here in Frederick that have it on the menu. While I liked them, I wanted more. Then I tried it here. Wow. The best in my opinion :). Very citrusy but that's what cooks the seafood. So I like it. I can't believe I overlooked this on the menu. It was always chicken chicken chicken......which is also amazing!

  • Ebbonie K.

LOVE this place! Eat here or do take out all the time. We can feed the entire family for about $30 with their family meal deal. The chicken is the BEST...slow cooked with wonderful spices. I have tried other menu items but always come back to the chicken. The green sauce for the chicken is hot but not too hot and complements the chicken wonderfuly. Their sides are great too. Fried rice and plantains are yummy. I always get their salad because the dressing is to die for. Ginger based I think. .but spicy. The service is alway great and they don't make you feel weird not being Hispanic....friendly warm staff. Everyone we tell about this place becomes addicted!

The fish ceviche it's spectacular, just like in Peru. Every dish that I have tried it's delicious, I really really like this place specially the ceviche for take out.

DELICIOUS! Not the typical Peruvian chicken joint because they do serve other amazing dishes. My sister, my friend and I ventured into Sardi's on a gloomy Tuesday afternoon and the place was PACKED (which is a good sign.) I ordered their daily special Bistec A Lo Probe which was marinated & grilled steak over fries, served with rice and two over-easy eggs ($14) not a bad price. Steak was a little tender but that was due to the cut of meat. Otherwise the flavors and textures hit the mark, amazing! My sister had the Pollo Saltado and I had the Lomo Saltado to-go and BOTH dishes were amazing, wether chicken or steak. Out friend went with the half chicken with rice and potatoes which looked delicious and judging by how fast he ate, it was delicious indeed. The wait for other dishes that's not chicken does take some time so don't expect fast good service for dishes they have to prepare fresh. We also ordered Salchipapas which is just fried hot dogs and French fries as a snack which was exactly what you'd think it is.. Hot dogs and fries. Lol They forgot our tres leches cake which was the BEST I've had but that mistake was easily remedied. Other than the wait, everything was so delicious and affordable!

Crazy good Peruvian chicken. Sides are also awesome. Staff is wonderful. Something truly amazing in an unassuming shopping strip. A must try!!

My boyfriend brought me here when we first started dating 5 years ago. He grew up in Frederick so he knew all the good places in the area. I had never had Peruvian food before, but man was I in heaven the first time I ate here! I always get a 1/2 chicken, fried rice (which is out of this world good) and roasted potatoes. Although, I should give proper recognition to the plantains because they are also delicious. Portion sizes are huge, as most people have commented. You will have enough food to eat the next day. It's located right off Frederick's "Golden Mile" so it's not hard at all to find. It's not in the greatest location for parking, but most people get to go anyway. I was there recently and it appeared they did some remodeling to the outside. Looks a lot classier!

My ultimate comfort food of all times! This place always satisfies me. My mouth is watering just typing this review! I enjoying everything about this restaurant! Awesome customer service, the music selection and the many choices on their menu! This place is very popular for the chicken, but you must try the other items too! The Lomo saltado and the Ceviche mixto are my favorites, along with their sides like mix veggies, delicious rice, platinos and many more! You honestly can't go wrong with this place. Once you try, you'll come back for more! A tad bit pricy, but totally worth it!!

My job takes me all over MD and VA so I've tried many of these places over the years within a good 250 mile radius, and this one is the best I've had. There are many that come close but there's just something that puts Sardis a little above. I guess I would have to say its the fact that they are not afraid to season their food. Too many places nowadays seem to tone things down a bit so as not to offend anyone's tastes. This place keeps it real, everything authentic. Even the vegetables come to you just right, nothing needed. The chicken is tasty and juicy, and the skin is crispy. Everything is always nice and fresh too... Also they have, dare I say, the BEST Steak and Cheese in town, try it with some of their green sauce, or alot if you like a little heat like me...

  • Laurie S.

Just do it!!! I didn't even know what to expect, a friend just said to go and get the best chicken in Frederick... And he was right. Everything is delicious and juicy, the sauces are perfectly authentic and prices you can't beat. So I'll pass along his advice: just do it!

This was our go-to chicken spot for years when we lived in the area. You can't go wrong with anything here. Make sure you get extra "yellow sauce"!

  • Karri V.

Not to be dramatic or anything but this is the best chicken I have ever had. Chicken has to be one of the most versatile foods around but it can also be boring. That is not the case at Sardis. It just has the best, most unique flavor and is incredibly juicy. We get the whole chicken meal with two sides which is enough for 3 adults and a child or maybe 2 really hungry people and lunch for 1 the next day. They include all these sauces and I am oblivious to what is in them but they are all excellent. There is this one brown sauce that I later found out is actually a dressing but either way it's great with the chicken. It tastes like bread! Now I'm hungry.

  • Frank N.

Gather your friends, bring along the family, you're about to enjoy some amazing Peruvian style chicken!!! Not a morsel of chicken was left on the bone when I was done with this meal.... Wow! Very good Peruvian roasted chicken!! I could probably say this over and over again, as I do while I'm eating their food, but I'll spare you..... From experience; the 'family meal' special will overfeed four hungry adults, for only $35! You'll have leftovers for sure.... You'll get a choice of side sauces for the chicken. My choice is the spicy green sauce. Damn it's good! Others are a sweeter honey mustard, and something else I forget.... Side dishes are delicious and plentiful! Fries... Beans and Rice.... Plaintains.... Cole Slaw. It's all good. I rated 5 stars based on the food alone..... If atmosphere of dining is important to you, go ahead and consider this a 3 1/2 star rating, because it's nothing special in that regard... but did I mention that the chicken is delicious????

A simple review for a simple, straightforward, locally owned business: The food is hot, genuine, reasonably priced and served by a hard working staff. The setting isn't fancy and the patrons are obviously loyal. While I've not yet tried the local competition Sardis will be hard to beat. Give it a shot and bring friends.

  • Lorena B.

Yes, my 1/4 white meat chicken was really good. The skin was crispy and seasoned well, while the meat was juicy. Love the spicy green sauce that you can get for dipping. The side dish portions are so big they could be a meal in themselves. The plantains were absolutely beautiful- I'm kicking myself for not bringing them for lunch at work with me. The yucca is hit or miss. I had some pieces that tasted good and others were dry and flavorless. I'm think they're oven baked not fried, which could account for the problem. The staff is okay. The guy started filling my order then a co-worker gave him some takeout orders so without a word he left me standing there while he went to fill them.

  • S C.

Great affordable lunch special, under $10 for loads of chicken, fries and cole slaw ! When they give you dipping sauces, try them !!!! Green one is spicy but the best, but they are all great. Good place, fast service !!!

  • Jonathan K.

Some finga kickin chicken hands down! Chicken that will want to make you smack your friends momma! I recommend to try yuca if you've never tried it before and beans and rice is a go to if you're trying to be a true divine Peruvian even though I'm Ecuadorian whose askin! We're neighbors close enough and ohh yeah the yellow sauce is BOSS

  • Tristan B.

I heard about this place from some of my co-workers and decided to give it a shot. The restaurant was very clean, the service was fast (which was surprising since they get bum-rushed during lunch hour) and the prices are decent. The chicken is ridiculously awesome! Very flavorful and juicy! I recommend getting 1/2 Peruvian Chicken with plantains and Peruvian Fried Rice as your sides. You get 3 sauces (2 of the cream and 1 of the green spicy sauce). I recommend you get more of the cream sauce; it's that good.

    (5)
  • K A.

The chicken and just about everything else on their menu is DELICIOUS. Parking can be a mess at times and the line can be really long during certain times of the day, but a long line typically means great food! The grilled shrimp is really good and so is the chicharones de pollow!

  • Nancy K.

If I lives in Frederick I would eat Sardis at least once a week. And every time I visit I will definitely eat Sardis. We were on town to visit some friends and got dinner from here one night. It is a truly delicious and simple option: I had rice and chicken. The chicken is flattened but not dry, the flavor is perfect and it was still hot no matter that it was takeout. Yum.

  • Katherine S.

I've been eating at sardi's about once a week since I first tried it last month. I always get 1/2 chicken with two sides (fried rice and plantains). $11 for about 3 meals worth of food for me. So worth it. The place has been busy no matter what time and day of the week I've gone, you can definitely tell its popular. Only complaint is I feel the service from the cashiers can be a little rude at times.

    (5)
  • Neena R.

I wake up dreaming about their chicken! It's tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. So delicious! The sides that I've had are also tasty - plantains, rice and beans, guilty pleasure fries. Yum! Their lomo Saltado is one of the best I've ever had!

  • Steve M.

I've eaten at Sardis multiple times in both Frederick & Gaithersburg. It's always very consistent and very good. The portion sizes are fantastic. You real get a good bang for your buck! Highly recommend the 1/2 chicken, it comes with 2 side. You won't be sorry.

    (5)
  • Tori M.

God, the chicken... It's AH-MAZING. So juicy yet crispy and incredibly flavorful! Platanos were also to die for. I ordered a few other sides, but none were memorable enough to comment on. Normally I would, but I actually don't recall what they were, lol. Overall a great experience and will definitely be visiting again!

  • Beata K.

Yelp reviews were spot on for this place. Fantastic chicken that's juicy with the perfect texture and amount of spices. I got the yuka, potatoes and fried plaintains- all of which were great but the plaintains are a must have, so delicious. The sauces that come with the meal are also really good and are a perfect combo...be careful of the green sauce if your adverse to spicy food. The only downside is the atmosphere which is why I didn't give it 5 stars. It's not terrible inside but not very homey but that won't stop me from coming back!

  • John L.

The best Chicken in Frederick. Highly recommend them. Great food at great prices. I recommend the chicken with a Peruvian Rice.

    (5)
  • Tony P.

The peruvian chickens are juicy and succulent with a beautifully crispy skin. The yucca are extra crunchy and the sides like rice and beans and plantains are quite tasty. The portions are generous so you're getting a bargain. There's really not much else you can ask for except may be more heat from the picante green sauce. This place would kick El Pollo Rico and Super Pollo to the curb in a comparison fight.

Great food and great value. A whole chicken meal with 3 large sides and 4 cans of soda was a little over $25 dollars.

Let's talk about how fantastic two people can serve eleven customers in about as many minutes. I love little order-at-the-front restaurants like this, everything was clean, well organized, and bigger than I thought it would be. Food was pricier than I expected but you get a TON of absolutely to-die-for food for their $7-$15 platters. Try the chicken and the plantains at least once!

    (5)
  • Nik L.

Holy mother of everything delicious, this place is the JAM. If you haven't been you need to. I haven't had a bad thing on the menu, but the chicken is untouchable. For $10 you can eat like a Peruvian king.

  • PitBull D.

Came in here based on YELP reviews and Sardis does not disappoint. I thought I would go with the rotisserie chicken and got a decent portion of half-chicken, with sides of salad and rice-beans. Enough left over for dinner tonight. Wife had the seafood mixture, raw seafood in vinegar marinate and she loved it. The sweet potato and corn sides also were excellent. I am going to wander around the menu in the future because there are many great choices. We also don't have anything like this in the Martinsburg WV area. Definitely on our list for when we go to Frederick, which is about once a month.

    (4)

The food here is not bad. I have to admit that I recently tried Pollo Loco's rotisserie chicken and I liked it a bit better. The sauces made here are much better though.

My family and I randomly found this place because we were in town for a wedding that weekend. This place has great prices. It's casual without waiters. You order your food and sit. We ordered ceviche, chicken, yuca, plantains and some drinks. The prices were really good and big portions.

HOLY CRAP!!! HEAVEN IS IN THE FORM OF A PERUVIAN RESTAURANT!!! OMGsoh, I would give this place a 10 star if I could. I had it for the first time a few months ago and have been hooked ever since. Everything is GREAT!!! Trust me, I've tried it all.

Another great Latin American restaurant in Frederick! We had the churrasco de pollo with fried plantains (fabulous!) and Peruvian fried rice and the pollo saltado (see photos for both). Both dishes were excellent and HUGE. We could have easily split one of these dishes between the two of us. I looked around the room and it seemed that all the other diners had equally large portions. At $28 for both of these dishes (plus bottled beverages), it seemed a little steep for lunch. Yes, the portions were huge but they don't have to be: less food, lower prices. (No one wants to bring a doggie bag back to the office.) I saw some flan with my name on it so we'll be back.

The chicken here is excellent--tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The side dishes are sometimes a little dodgy--the fries tend to be dry; the vegetables aren't the freshest; etc. But you'll hardly notice, because DAT CHICKEN. It's a very casual place--they serve the food on styrofoam plates, and there is no table service. Try it! You'll like it.

I have not posted a review in quite some time due in large part to laziness. Sardis Chicken made me snap out of it and finally put one up. The chicken I had here was better than the glowing reviews here on Yelp. I had a 1/2" chicken with two sides and the chicken had a nicely seasoned, crispy skin with juicy meat underneath. The best chicken I've had in quite some time. The two sides, Peruvian fried rice and seasoned green beans could each be standouts if they were grouped with lesser items, but each item in my meal was delicious. Withe the tab at just about $11, I had enough food for two meals. The gym I use while I am here in the area is just down the road, so Sardis Chicken will be serving me my post workout meal each week for the foreseeable future. I just hope I dont blow off my workouts just to get at the chicken.

I've been here a bunch of times, and each time the chicken has been delicious. The portions are generous and the meat is flavorful (with a unique blend of Peruvian spices) and moist/juicy. Because of the large portions, the chicken platters are a good value price-wise. Of the sides I've tried, the Peruvian rice is my favorite; it's addictive! The salad is also good, but beware the dressing (brown stuff that comes in a little plastic container) is quite... unique. I'm not a plantain fan. and theirs didn't change my mind, but if you like 'em, they are fried well and again, quite a generous portion. My one mild complaint is that once or twice the chicken has been oddly saltier than the other times, but I can't see taking a point off for this.

Customer service is really awesome here. I also like the openness of the space. Decently clean, too. Small parking lot. Maybe it was just the day we were there....but my sis and I both found the food to be far more salty than other locations we've been to. The horchata was still quite excellent. But I had to divide the meal into two sittings, partially due to the saltiness. Again, could just be that day. Still a quality spot to get some good grub.

A busy place, order at the counter, fill your paper cup at the sofa dispenser and they bring your wronderful food to the table. Pleasant staff. I would prefer a more uptake atmosphere rather than a basic sub shop and take out feel. That's because the food was really so much better than the service experience. The roasted chicken was great. I was worried it might be too salty, but it was great. The the dipping sauces were a nice addition to the food and the Greek dressing was very good. I did not try the ample serving of green beans my friend ate, but he loved them. So I would go back if I was passing that way, but I think a full service restaurant would match the quality of the food. Yes the cost would be more, but it was so good!

Great chicken and plantains. Authentic Peruvian food. The Lomo Saltado is almost as good as mine. The clientele proves the quality and affordability is too notch.

My wife and I love this place. She loves the ceviche and I love the lomo saltado. Wish it was like the one in Gaithersburg that has a sports bar with it.

Peruvian Chicken rocks. Seriously, I don't think I've been to one that I didn't like. This one reminds me a lot of the famous Pollo Rico on Arlington. It has the same bare-bones ambiance. Nothing in the walls, generic tables and chairs... only difference is they take credit cards. Sardi's is tucked away kind of hidden... my brother has lived in Frederick for about 10 years now, and just discovered this place. We took home a whole chicken (was more than enough for 3 of us) and we got fries, fried plantains, and beans & rice. The whole chicken with 3 sides option also came with a bottle of soda. The chicken was good. The fries were good. They have the same sauces that every Peruvian chicken place has... "the green one" and "the yellow one." It's a great place to go for dinner it's a shame it's so hidden away!

  • Michelle D.

I only recently found this place, even after living in Frederick for over 2 years. It is hidden off of RT40, and looks pretty nondescript from the road. It is probably my favorite place to eat out, ever. I have never actually eaten the chicken, but I always ALWAYS get the Sardi's Salmon. It takes a while to cook and it is one of the pricier items on the menu, but it is so worth it. The best salmon I have ever eaten. If you are impatient and know which sides you want, I would advise ordering it ahead of time. The food is always fresh, always really flavorful. I have gotten the plantains, yuckas, fries, side salad, and coleslaw, and they are all equally delicious (you can choose 2 with the salmon). And the dips, I have no idea what they are, but they are all amazing. Also, having eaten at the gaithersburg restaurant, I definitely think the Frederick far better and the food was tastier.

Best Chicken Ever!! This place is awesome. I can't wait to go back. The staff was super friendly and gave us samples to help us decide. I just wish they were in a better location.

Negative: Music way too loud for my taste. Positive: Great chicken, great sides, great price for all we got. I'm a fan.

when anybody talks Peruvian Chicken. All I say is have you tried Sardis? This place in my opinion has the best chicken in the DC area.

  • Heather C.

So i am not a fan of chicken at all, but my sister had talked about this place for the last 2 years and how awesome it was and i rolled my eyes to it until she forced me one day to try it from her left overs that she had brought home with her ...best chicken hands down! and they have these sauces they make that are super delicious! i mean even after a few days of it sitting in our fridge and reheating it, it was still super good! has a great spice/kick to it and totally moist and best of all the prices and portions! they give you alot! super cheap for super good food! :)

  • Gina C.

Excellent. Super tasty. Love the fried rice and beans. I love the sauces for the chicken just wish the containers were larger. I like a lot of sauce :)

  • Jenn M.

The food here is so delicious! Everything's so flavorful, from the chicken to the sides. Real comfort food. Good sized portions. The only "problem" is the restaurant's location -- it can be kind of sketchy! When I came out here for dinner there were men lurking outside eyeing me like I was their next meal. Creepy!

  • Steve T.

I came in based solely off the other yelp reviews. The service was great , very friendly. I ordered the 1/4 white plus white rice and plantains. The chicken had a very good flavor but it was a touch dry ( I suspect that wouldn't have been a problem with the dark meat). The plantains were great and the rice had a very nice flavor like it had been cooked with stock. Recommended and I will be returning to try the ceviche.

My second time here was a success. Had their famous chicken and sweet plantains. Others had white rice and back beans. All was delicious. Serving portions are huge.

I love Sardis Chicken! At one point I was coming 2-3 times per week, the guys behind the counter knew me on site :-) Servings are generous and the chicken is melt in your mouth delicious!!! Very reasonably priced as well. I only go about 1-2 times per month now, but they still remember me. The Tres Leches is delicious too!

The Peruvian style chicken at Sardi's is amazingly tasty. The right amount of char and juiciness in the chicken is cooked to perfection. The chicken comes in varying sizes to satisfy everyone's appetite. It is accompanied with a few sauces as well, which add a nice kick to the chicken. The sides come in nice large portions, from fries to corn to vegetables. The prices are well worth the product. Some of the best chicken you will find around town

    (5)
  • Effie N.

I have eaten at many Peruvian chicken places, but Sardi's is exceptional. The chickens are larger, more meaty, not as spicy (i like spice, but others in my family do not), super juicy! The sides ate HUGE, not some Dixie cup sized portions for an anorexic. The platanos- fabulous- NOT greasy or oily! and all the sides were super fresh. very fast service very professional! so I give it 5 stars!!!

Awesome broiled chicken. Fast service. Reasonable prices. Never going to KFC again. Parking lot can use more lights at night.

As a connoiseur of Peruvian rotisserie establishments, I'd have to say that this place could give Kikiriki in Claremont, CA a run for its aji. For only $7 I barely managed to take down a well-rotisseried quarter chicken and two sides. The arroz chaufa was well done but could have been a bit fresher. The green beans I chose to eat looked better than the house salad (simple, not very interesting) and were tasty. I was given two green sauces which I took for aji variations and both were delicious. The hotter one was good with the chicken and the other was a bit rich for me, but a nice respite from the spiciness of the former. You can judge these places based on their chicken and aji. Sardi's has it going on in that department. The price is right and the employees are happy and pleasant. Way to go, Sardi

Another "if it aint hood, it aint good" spot! The food is on point! I had a chicken cheese steak on my first visit, and on my second I had the chopped chicken sandwhich, both times I almost tapped out! They give you a lot of food. They have some characters that roll up in this cut, one dude was lookin crazy on that "lean" if you know what I mean, had to give him the ghetto smile so he would know I wasn't an easy win! :) Sardis you keep it gully, and I love you for it.

Had the anticucho de corazon (beef heart skewers), which came with roasted potatoes and Peruvian corn. The beef heart slices were char grilled, smokey and especially delicious when dipped in the habanero sauce they had at the table. The roasted potatoes were perfectly cooked: Crispy skins with soft, steamy potatoes inside. I had never tried Peruvian corn before, and it was interesting. The kernels were much larger than normal corn (think hominy-sized), a little denser, and very very sweet. I found that I enjoyed it very much after a little dash of salt. I spent under $12 (including the 20 oz bottle of lemonade), and couldn't quite finish my entire meal. What a bargain!

The best rotisserie chicken in the Frederick area by far. Great prices, good sides.

I've had a bunch if the Peruvian chicken places around the DC metro area. Hands down the Sardis chain in the best. The chicken is always juicy and seasoned to perfection.

Sardi's is a cool little place. It doesn't look like much outside but inside it is a bustling little restaurant. They have far more than just chicken with steak and seafood as well. I got the chicken and it was pretty good, some parts of the piece I got weren't very good but overall it was ok. The sides were delicious especially the Peruvian fried rice. Overall it was good and I will probably come back.

Me and a coworker get lunch here every other week, I have never strayed from the el-greco salad with their chicken on it, my absolute favorite and most delicious lunch item. my buddy always gets the half chicken with sides, never fails to impress.

    (5)
  • Tony Y.

Some of the best chicken in a fast casual setting. I would have given 5 stars but the other meat selection and side items were not exceptional. Like all the other reviews, I find the chicken heavenly.

  • Kayla W.

I can honestly say that this is the best chicken that I have ever had. Keep in mind that I have never had Peruvian chicken before, but this place is to die for. I called my order in and it they told me it would be ready in 10 minutes. I got there and it was packed...I took that as a good sign, meaning that a lot of people liked the place. I was able to get my food without a wait! It came up to $16 for two quarter chicken meals. I can honestly say that one meal with two sides is good for two people. The portions are huge! This place definitely lives up to the hype and I will definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a good chicken spot!

  • M M.

This was the best chicken I ever had! The sauces were great also. Had potatoes, green beans and plantains as sides. Everything was delicious! Found it on yelp on our way north. Will try to stop by on the way back. Incredible!

I love this place, the grilled chicken and yuca con chicharone is fantastic. A whole lot of food for not a lot of money, they should charge more (don't let them know that though)

I found a taste of Peru right here in Frederick! Chill atmosphere, very casual. Food is fabulous and pretty cheap for the amount you get. I can't wait to go back to try some more menu items. Inca Kola! Oh and did I mention soccer was playing on the two flat screen televisions? Love it!!

I really enjoyed my dinner - half chicken with fried yucca and rice with beans. The salchipapas is a good kid's meal. Will definitely return.

Have to give it 5 stars for the chicken skewers. Ordered two chicken skewer meals that came with a Greek salad, rice, and pita bread. Had to wait awhile once we ordered but it was worth it. Shared two full size meals with our family of four since we didn't see any kids meals. Plenty of food for all of us.

  • Molly R.

This is the best place to eat in the area. The chicken and sides and sauces are amazing and for less than $7 you get enough food that you won't be able to walk if you eat it all in one sitting. The lamb chops are also very tasty.

  • Angela T.

Went here on Sunday evening to get carry out for dinner after a day of visiting family. It smelled so good in the car on the way home and it was well worth the wait when we got there! The chicken was fantastic! We got a whole chicken with two sides (Rice and Beans and Salad) and my husband also got Yuca. Everything was great - the dipping sauces were yummy - the green one has a great kick to it. The whole meal was $15.95 - whole chicken and two sides (we added a third side). I wish there was one closer to home, we would go here all the time! Definitely worth a try!

So I didn't even realize that there was a Sardi's in Frederick until I saw the article in the FNP about the car driving into it! I love a good Peruvian chicken and this place is very tasty. For $7, you get a big ole piece of chicken and plenty of sides. Definitely get the rice and beans and some plantains. Of course, they have the sauces too, which are excellent (especially the yellow one) and they are always generous with them. They have other things besides chicken, but of course, when you go to Sardi's, you get chicken!

    (5)
  • Hannah M.

We always enjoy eating at Sardi's. Tonight, I tried the Salmon and it was fantastic. As good or better than at the more upscale restaurants. The staff is friendly. We've been going there regularly for a few years and have never been disappointed.

    (5)
  • Brittany H.

YOU MUST EAT HERE! I always get a quarter dark chicken with some of the sides. I love the yuca (like crispy delicious fries) and the black beans and rice. The plantains are touch and go- always taste good but not always cooked to my personal preference. The green beans and mixed veggies are good as well. The sauces are so delicious! I love taking some of the green sauce and mixing it with the white mayo sauce. I stop in for lunch here and it is always worth it :) If you have left overs they re-heat great. I reheat the yuca and chicken in the oven.

Seriously good chicken! I'd been looking for a rotisserie/charbroiled chicken joint since Caballo Viejo closed earlier this year when a friend brought some to dinner. HOLY COW! (or should that be chicken?) It's the tastiest chicken I've had in this area. It's well seasoned, juicy, and satisfying. 1/4 chicken with 2 sides is plenty of food for the average person. The portions are VERY generous. I'm a big fan of their tajadas (fried plantains). Oh, and the sauces they provide with the chicken are great too. The green stuff, presumably some sort of jalapeno paste, has quite a kick! Best of all, this place is very affordable. The place is clean, and there's always some spanish-language TV. During the World Cup, they were advertising live game broadcasts with beer specials. It can get a little warm in the late spring and summer due to the chicken charbroiler and such. I would offer 5 stars, but I haven't had the will-power to stray from the chicken (it's just that good), but I've heard great things!

    (4)
  • Kat G.

Chicken was nice but a bit blander than El Pollo Rico. The aji and camarones were awesome! My husband loved the ceviche. The plantains were also very good. Service was fast and friendly. Good to know that we do not have to drive to Silver Spring to get our fix :)

    (4)
  • Greg S.

I feel pretty dumb that this place has been here as long as it has been and we have never been here. A friend at work in Silver Spring was telling me about this place so we were heading to the closest one Gaithersburg until I looked at the website and realized we had one. The chicken was delicious as was the fried rice and plantains. we will make this a regular stop now.

  • Jennifer R.

I love getting chicken from this place. The rice, black beans, coleslaw, and fries are very delicious too. The chicken is very moist and the seasoning they use is very good. It's definitely not a fancy place but the food is legit. I usually come here after work and pick up a whole chicken and two sides for my husband and I. It's a quick dinner for two under $20, so its great for busy individuals, trying to feed a small family. We usually have left overs but its great for lunch the next day. They have a great selection of Latin sodas and they also have tres leches, which is soo good. Definitely a "fav" on the go.

Great food. We ordered the Steak Saltado, which was was very tasty. We ordered the Bistec a lo Pobre was very good as well! The plantains included with the Bistec a lo Pobre were cooked perfectly. All portions were large. Be sure to try the Salsa Amarilla - fantastic!!

  • David S.

Simply the best Charbroiled chicken in Frederick if not the only! I ordered 1/2 chicken 2 sides for $8.25. I got 1/2 moist, delicious chicken, wonderful well cooked Yuca and great rice and beans. The service was fast, and the restaurant was clean. I was excited to find out Sardis opened a store here in Frederick. This place is off the beaten path but well worth the drive. I noticed they deliver but not sure if they deliver to all of Frederick. It's ironic that they are located in the same strip center as the old Watson's Chicken. Man, that was good fried chicken. A couple doors down Sardis offers a far superior product. Check em out for yourself.

Great grilled chicken and the price you can't beat, and it's close to my home, doesn't get any better than that

Def worth getting a delicious roasted chicken here rather that at the grocery store. seasoned to perfection and dipping sauces are yummy too. I love plantains and yucca on the side.

Amazing, very affordable, best Latino food I've had in MD. I thought my mom was working in the kitchen that night. I don't know what they put in that green sauce but I want to take a gallon home with me every time I go.

  • Kim S.

Their Churassco Chicken Lunch Special is not only delicious but so reasonably priced in this horrible economy. The chicken is tender and amazing with the different dipping sauces and salad & rice. We order from Sardi's at least once per week. You cant beat the deal with the great food for a great price.

  • Sheri W.

My husband and I ate here tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was friendly and helpful and the menu was varied. My husband had skirt steak with roasted potatoes and salad and it was outstanding. I had the chicken souvlaki which was also very good. The reason for 4 stars is the chicken was a little on the salty side. We will definitely be back to try more.
