I've only had Jad's carry out but I have to say the food is ok. If you order carry out from them be prepared to wait......awhile. They usually tell me 30 minutes and even after that I still end up waiting another 20 minutes just to get my food. The food is ok, nothing special but beats McDonalds. The cream of crab soup was horrible though and looked like it came from a can.

When someone asks for a great place to eat in the area, I say JAD's. Some would say, pizza johns. Not me.. I don't like frozen food and greasy pizza made from "family" recipe. Nope! JAD's is home cooking. Service doesn't have to be good. Atmosphere doesn't have to be good. Why? Cus the food is excellent. Close your eyes, scroll your finger across the menu and order whatever you land on. You won't be disappointed. Drinks are priced to be affordable and they have nice rooms to use for showers, birthdays or whatever else you need. DJ on Friday and Saturday nights are good. Bar maids make strong tasty cocktails. What else? I don't know, go try it!

Jad's is one of those places where you get treated like part of the family. The crab and shrimp scampi special is maybe the best thing I have ever eaten. I have never had anything bad. Some highlights: cream of crab soup, the breakfast crab omelette, the crab cakes and the fries. Battered fries that are crunchy and seasoned just right. Cheap drinks and a fun bar staff. It's not a fancy restaurant but if you get past the sort of rundown looking (but always clean) inside you will get some of the best food you've ever had!

I come here for one thing, cream of crab soup. The crab cakes are okay but everything else is not great. Service could use a little work but it doesn't bother me. You'll feel like you're eating in a senior center most of the time but at least it's quiet.

Went here this evening for a wedding celebration. Eh. Service was ok. The food, not so much. I ordered a crab cake, fried shrimp, fries and broccoli. I LOVE crab cakes! But I didn't finish my food. That should tell you something...

I go to Jad's strictly for breakfast, so I cannot attest to the quality of other meals. I would find it VERY hard to believe it is the WORST FOOD ON THE PLANET, as mentioned by another reviewer! Their breakfast menu is massive, and they have a bunch of combos, which is always a big plus in my book. Their breakfast food is solid, unspectacular, standard fare that's pretty much done right just about every time. The food usually comes out quickly, though the wait staff is consistently inconsistent. On occasion you'll get the clearly "having a bad day" waitress who is not at all concerned with hiding the fact that she's unhappy or pissy! Gotta love my neck o' the woods here in the eastern 'burbs of Bawlmer! Some standouts include the cream chipped beef and the sausage patties. I'd recommend avoiding the coffee. Not good... not at all. The prices are OK overall, though you can get some pretty massive bargains on weekday mornings, when they have some nice, cheap specials.

I've been coming to Jads Caddy Shack for years! It has such a home atmosphere and a I love the home cooking. I love their chicken Caesar salad! The dressing is so good and creamy! The cream of crab soup is amazing! We've tried the crab pretzel that was okay I guess. My husband loves the open roast beef sandwich with their sweet potatoes. My children love coming here! They know it as the restaurant with the rocking horse! I do have to say the service is slow so if your in a rush you might not want to try but we enjoy ourselves every time we go! So if you're looking for a place with that home cooked meal go here!

Jad's is our go-to local spot. Casual atmosphere with two sides...a lounge/bar and a regular restaurant. Menu is huge and staff is wonderful. We have been for breakfast, lunch and dinner, sometimes all in the same day! The Crab Omelette is amazing. The Fried chicken is the best in the area. Crab cakes are good, but not the best I have had in the area. Good homestyle, country cooking with large portions for the prices.

I got the Shrimp salad Sandwich tonight. It was awesome. Huge shrimp piled high on crispy toast, enough mayo to hold it together, but not enough to feel arteries clog, and a lot of seasoning to give it a great flavor. Served with crispy fries that were still soft enough in the center to not feel like you're eating chips. I also got the Vegetable Beef Soup to start. There were a lot of large chunks of beef in a flavorful broth with loads of vegetables. It was impressive. I didn't even want crackers in it. On most visits here, I usually get the 1/2 pound cheeseburger, which I am never disappointed with. It's huge, juicy, and full of flavor. I also play pool here a lot. They have 3 tables that are $.50 a game before 6 pm, then it goes down to $.25 after that. All in all, it's a good choice in Essex.

This place is for elderly people and families. Very polite and traditional/old fashion atmosphere, but it's like the hot spot in town for elderly people. I really enjoyed the portion sizes and the overall food, it gives me a sense of home cooked meals.

Wonderful wonderful time was had! Had a wonderful birthday celebration that turned out to be PERFECT!!! We personally requested RICKY his is the best waiter/bar tender ever. He is the definition of going above and beyond! He is worth a 50% tip. The place is affordable, delicious, and so much fun! request Ricky! He's the BEST!

I like this place. It is definitely a local/casual spot and it's not very modern. I feel comfortable here but don't expect elegance. It's a family restaurant. I really enjoy "THE BEAST" (breakfast), "turkey club sandwich" (lunch) and their "chicken pot pie" (dinner). They are my sure shot meals. It's worth checking out if you want decent food, and decent service.

Once upon a time (last year and prior), I would tell you that Jad's had the BEST crab cake...they still have the best cream of crab. They would skimp and use lower quality vegetables and generic deserts but the entrees and appetizers were usually good homestyle cooking. The servers are almost always pleasant but many times overworked and therefore unable to give the customers the attention they need. It seems as though they are simply skimping on the quality of the ingredients to keep the prices down. I've been a customer for decades.....no more, I've been disappointed too many times.

A very interesting place to observe Essex type folks. My friend lives down the street and when i go visit him we stop by here. The burger at this place might be one of the best i have every had. Cooked perfectly every time and its so juicy and meaty. "that's what she said" The beer selection is average and the menu is huge. I usually go for a jack Daniels and a burger. Always a safe bet. Looks can be decieving. From the outside this place looks scary but inside it is a real gem.

Guy uses toilet, leaves ahead of me without washing his hands at all...walks right into kitchen. Ewwww. Maybe he washed in sink in kitchen?

We were recommend this place, and tried it out the food was okay. Service was terrible, it seemed like the "regulars" got better service and seating. Also, did not get a warm feeling from any of the waitress's they were short and cold.

If you happen to be on this side of town (kind of a big "if") this is a good spot to stop in and have a bite, especially if you'd like American faire without being gouged by the local Greek Diner Cartel (who I am increasingly convinced are a real thing that exists). The food isn't spectacular but it's not half bad- basic bar food with the occasional crabmeat tossed in for local flavor. I had the crab pizza which had a surprising amount of actual crabmeat for ten bucks. The real stars of the show are the prices, which are extremely reasonable for a location on this side of the Mississippi. Two adults could have lunch for twenty and change. Not too shabby. The servers aren't top shelf, but bless 'em they're trying, and they're friendly if nothing else. I...wouldn't go there for drinks.

Good place for breakfast. They have a nice menu with a lot of options for breakfast. (including crab) Most of the staff are very friendly and treat you like they've known you for a long time, even joking around with you. This became our normal place for weekend breakfast when Joann's Kitchen was closed for remodeling. Breakfast quesadillas are very good, as well as omelets are pretty good, but I don't recommend the potatoes. They are not the best. Ask for Jackie to be sure you have the best waitress, her and the hostess make your visit worthwhile. Don't visit the bathroom unless you really have to. (The crab pretzel and cream of crab in the bread bowl are really good for lunch/dinner)

Stopped here for breakfast. Local breakfast and good. I asked the waitress what's good and she said "I've had everything on the breakfast menu and its all good. I'll give you a few minutes to decide." When she came back I asked about the chipped beef or sausage gravy and she said, "they ware both good, but I don't eat breakfast so I cannot tell you." Same waitress. Haha. I would recommend this place for breakfast and the local scene.

I go here at least three times a month maybe more, the breakfast is cheap, and on point. The morning drink menu is out of this world! After all, the best way to fight a hangover is to consume more booze! The steak specials are always a good choice, paired with a bottle of bud and a keno ticket!

Whenever we visit the in laws in Middle River we always make it a point to stop at Jads. I have had the chicken chesapeake which was awesome, HUGE lumps of crab on top and good crab not fluff. The double crab cakes are massive and delicious as well. The crab soups are always good....can you see a trend here? Yes I guess I have only sampled the crab options but they are all so delish I dont mix it up. I usually get a beer and they have a nice selection and pricing is fair. They are usually jam packed and they also show fights at the bar side which is a plus. From the outside you might not want to go in but DO as it will be worth your while! I have only been to Jads for dinner so my review is based on their dinner menu.

This place is the best mom & pop restaurant in all of Maryland. The deals are too good to be true. Bartenders are quick, friendly and attentive. Daily specials are like WHOA..that's the price. I just finished a $21 popcorn shrimp & 10 NY strip...with two sides. Off the hook. Bring your family, friends.
