Had a pretty good experience here. The servers seemed a little confused when first sat, but got it together as the meal went on. Had the crab dip which was excellent! Was a bit surprised how good it actually was. The Kona ribeye was delicious and well prepared, as was the sautéed spinach. Great place in the neighborhood..I definitely would go back.

We finally tried this place out and will not go back. The service was decent, the food was decent, the prices were outrageous. When I saw the prices on the menu I thought this was upscale so my expectations amplified. My wife and I had the french dip, my 15 year old had raviolis, and my other daughter had chicken strips from the kids menu. Our sandwiches were ok. My daughter raviolis were missing in quantity but she said they tasted ok. The chicken strips were good. The waiter forgot refills several times between the four of us but they were all nice, which can be a blessing in this area.

Been here a few times. I can only comment on their rib eye because it was so good I have never ordered anything else. Other people with me have always seemed to like what they had as well. The steaks are great and the place has a nice ambiance. High end but still relaxed. I would drive to Bethesda for a place like this. In a one restaurant town they could have cut corners and still done OK but they are high quality. This was much needed up here. Service is crazy slow though so that knocked off a star but otherwise great.

While the food was great, the temp of the steaks perfect, there are aspects of the dining experience that leaves one wondering why do the simple aspects of providing a perfect experience from happening? We ordered a dozen oysters for starters, however, they showed up several minutes after the meal was sitting in front of us. So we had to navigate around our steaks to get to and enjoy our oysters while the steaks sat and got cold. Picky maybe, but why order a starter to have to stop the main course to enjoy?

Like the bar seating. This is close to home for us, so that probably earns it a half star. Good apps, great wings, GREAT Caesar dressing (super garlicky). Burgers have been solid. Mushroom ravioli was fine, but you could defrost similar at home. Admittedly we haven't sat at an actual table in the dining area, but grabbing a table in the bar with some appetizers, drinks, caesar salad and an entree has been good for me and my wife.

Went here with a friend. We ordered the Kona Steak based on recommendation from our server. It was scrumptious! The steak is very savory because it was seasoned for 48 hrs. Very tender and melts in your mouth each bite. I also like the mussels with sherry cream sauce... The atmosphere is great. Not too noisy. It does have a full bar on the other side of restaurant seperate from dining area. I would make reservations in advance on busy nights because they do get packed! I will be a regular here!

Bland over priced Shrimp and Grits, and Penne w/ asparagus. Chicken sandwich was so dry and tough you couldn't chew it! Brunch is nothing special either for $24.00 not a big selection and no Eggs Benedict! The four of us agree overpriced chain type food! One thing we can say is the atmosphere and service was good

The wife and I booked a reservation on OpenTable for a Friday night date night at the Clarksburg location at the recommendation from a friend. When we got there the bar was bursting at the seams. It clearly looked like the place to be in Clarsburg on a Friday night. The wife and I were sat in the far end of the dinning room. This seemed to be the corner of the dinning room that was easily forgotten by the wait staff. We had to ask for sets of silverware and napkins because our table wasn't properly prepped before we were sat. Our waiter seemed overwhelmed and spread out over the restaurant. This always amazes me that restaurants continue to spread their wait staff out rather than give them tables in sections that are close to one another. Seems extremely inefficient and doesn't seem to set the wait staff up for success with being attentive to their customers. After our meal was delivered I had to request a steak knife because it was not on the table nor was it delivered with the meal. The wife consistently had to ask for a refill of her water. We ordered their Teriyaki Habanero Wings as an appetizer and were hopeful that our dinner would be equally as good if not better We ordered the Kona Ribeye and added a Crab Cake. They absolutely ruin what should be an exceptional cut of beef by using some sort of slightly sweet but super salty marinade on their $30 steak that makes you feel like it's the daily special at a local diner not a premium steak from a place named "GrillMarx". Needless to say, the steak is a far cry from good. In a nutshell, I suspect this place is exceptional for socially charged happy hours but not the place to get a great steak. I would stick to the bar side and avoid the "marinaded premium steaks". Overall, just an average place that I suspect maybe super busy because of their location and lack of competition. Maybe for them, they can afford another few months to try and get it figured out before a competitor arrives. Time will tell....

I came here for lunch. They recently started their lunch service up in here. I came here with a couple of coworkers for a birthday lunch. The service was great, extremely fast; (this could be because there wasn't a whole lot of folks there). It is pretty far from the business that would generate a lot of lunch crowd. I ordered the Bourbon cream beef tips (not really a lunch dish). It's a Penne Pasta dish with beef tip in a creamy sauce. It had way too much sauce for that dish, but they do give you a good amount of beef tips. In my opinion ,the tips were a bit well done for me; It was still tasty nonetheless. I asked for some bread since I had all that sauce with my entree. My coworkers got their burger and chicken sandwich, both were pleased with their choices. Again, our server was excellent when we were there for lunch. They don't have a "lunch" menu, so it was regular prices. I'm assuming they use the same menu for the dinner plates. Price was a little high for lunch, but I did order a dinner type meal. I'd probably try it for dinner again, and see how their steaks are compared to their other dishes.

I had the habenero-mango-teriyaki wings and the half rack baby back ribs. I expected the wings to be spicy, but it was very very mild. It was saucy but the inside of the chicken was not flavorful. The half rack also lacked flavor and it was dry. I wasn't all that impressed by the "steakhouse/raw bar." My wife had the kona ribeye. It was very thin, maybe 1/2 an inch, and it was again lacking in flavor except the fatty pieces. The fat was very salty and overwhelming with soy sauce. The steak was also marinated in pineapple juice for too long because the meat just crumbled in our mouth. The service was weird. After being seated, we sat there for awhile before a server came up, asked us if someone had come to us and then proceeded to take our drink order making it seem like he wasn't assigned to our table. Later, someone else brings out our drinks but then just walks away. Server #1 comes back later with the 2nd server, introduces himself and server #2 as a trainee and takes our order. Weird. We went bc we had a living social voucher. I don't see myself going there again.

I really tried to like this place. Overall the food is ok if you know what to order but really not worth the price you pay. I had a couple of bad experiences and a couple of good ones. The chicken avocado sandwich is good, but the French Dip sandwich tastes like it got dipped in a bucket of fat. It's probably the rib eye meat, but I personally found it gross. The burgers are also very saturated in fat. I ordered a medium well burger once and it came very rare but charred on the outside. What disappointed me about the bad experiences, especially in the case of the burger was the lack of follow up by the manager. They really don't care if you like or don't like their food. At least that was my conclusion. This place certainly has its fans, and the appetizers are good I admit, but it is very disappointing overall.

Went tonight to have a late dinner and drinks at the bar around 10pm. Sat at far end of the bar where there was only another couple having drinks. There were still a few other people at the bar and a couple of tables having dinner. The bar was quiet until an employee, still in uniform, sat at the bar with what looked to be a tall glass of water. He was talking loudly to the bartender and appeared to be drunk. He continued and it became increasingly annoying as we learned all about the problems with the location in Olney and the problems with the check of one of the other tables. It continued and the bartender did seem to notice that he was being obnoxious and affecting the patrons' conversations at the bar - my friend and I could barely hear each other over his loud banter. We finished our drinks and food and left quickly before becoming more upset. Definitely not a good experience. We overheard his name is Vincent. Perhaps management can address this policy of having employees drinking at the bar when patrons are still present.

Hugh disappointment. The waitress didn't know how to answer our questions about the menu, and gave us false information. My steak was burned and inedible. Extremely overpriced.

Two of my girlfriends and I came here on a Sunday Saturday to get lunch. It was absolutely dead inside and I was a little wary as a result of this, but both of my girlfriends reassured me that this place would be stellar. It was! I can't get over how delicious and fresh all of the food tasted. Everything from the drinks to the desserts were flawless. One girlfriend and I started by splitting half a dozen Chesapeake gold oysters which were delicious, wonderful, and over all perfection. I also ordered their raspberry lemonade cocktail which was again a delicious treat. For my entrée I ordered the shrimp and grits and I would highly recommend this dish. For dessert I got the vanilla bean crème brûlée, which was once again absolutely delicious. If you don't mind spending a little more money to get a really delicious meal and great service, then this is a great place to go!

My second time there. The service was good but the steak tips and prime rib were very chewy. The grilled asparagus good but stalky and the brownie cake is definitely meant to be shared. The wine the waiter helped me select was not as dry and robust as I like. Nice atmosphere. Very pleasant wait staff. My husband's Ceasar salad was terrific as was my son's stuffed potato. Their ribeye was flavorful but not 0ff the charts.

The hubs just came home from duty, and wanted us to walk over to GX for our anniversary weekend. Our hostess was nice and gave us a nice table... The decor is trendy...but it's like a sports bar/ steakhouse... What chaps my rear is the music.. The music sucks, the play non stop 99.5 type songs nonstop...sometimes on repeat, . I don't like how the music plays...a song comes on it plays for a minute then someone in the restaurant skips it to another lame song... I guess they use Pandora or Spotify. Very lame for an alleged upscale restaurant.. I got cream of crab soup and Each spoonful had mouthfuls of lump crab meat. It's very creamy and thick. However it does need more flavor..for starters it needs some old bay... And maybe more spices. ..and dried parsley flakes on my $7.00 soup?? Really?! although, this restaurant is like a few blocks from my house I and walking distance...it's very overpriced. $3.00 for soft drinks!!! Is water free!? I'm afraid to ask.. Our server was Bryon, very nice and attentive... My other server last time was some space cadet.. Who was very forgetful...I'm glad she didn't wait on us, I got prime rib and the hubs got a burger with fries... The prices are such a rip off.. I feel nickeled and dimed...$1 grilled onions, $1 sautéed mushrooms, etc... I'm paying $28 for my steak and you can't add it in for free? No comp appetizers. I would have expect some buns or pumpernickel bread since they are like a steak house. As for their side items most are starchy stuff... $5 more if you want to add a nice salad, They need to expand their dessert menu, it's very lackluster. For being a very high priced restaurant, all you offer is 3 items? Though our meal was ok...average ... Definitely not worth the price tag... But my hubs was deployed for a long time but he was craving Grillmarx.. The best tip,is Tuesday they have $1 oysters.

My husband and I went here for a date night on Tuesday. We ordered the muscles - which were excellent, and the cocktail shrimp. Although they were large $10 for 3 seemed a bit much. For dinner I ordered the filet with mashed potatoes. I didn't realize the steak wouldn't even come with butter, so my plate was very dry. I ended up asking for a sauce and paid $2 extra for a rosemary Cabernet sauce which was actually quite enjoyable. I didn't eat more than a bite of the mashed potatoes as they were dry and unseasoned. My husband got the French dip sub with fries. It didn't come with onions or cheese, it was more of a roast beef sandwich with a dipping sauce - not really worth getting. Next time I'll try a different side. Chocolate cake was a cupcake with lots of sauces and accompanying garnishes, but nothing to write home about.

This review is for their Sunday brunch buffet. The food is fresh and tasty. The prime rib is amazing Smoked salmon is too salty to my taste. Other standard brunch food like bacon, sausages, fried potatoes etc are solid. The chef at the omelette station tries hard to satisfy the guests but he needs to be less nervous. :) Adding a waffle station would be great. Not a huge varieties of food but for $18 including coffee and excellent prime rib I think it's good value. Will go back. :)

We visit Grillmarx often (once a month maybe) mainly because of its proximity. If it were further we probably wouldn't go as often because its pricy however the food is delicious. The atmosphere is nice although we have only dined in the bar area and on the patio. The bar has plenty of tv's including personal ones at the few booths they have. The bar also has a super cool "big ass fan." Thats literally what its called. I've tried their sandwiches of which my favorite is their burger. Really good fries too and I'm picky about whether fries are worth the extra calories (and I eat them with their chipotle or jalapeño aioli...oops!). The steaks are good of course but the pork cutlets with grits that the hubs got once was amazing (and I'm not a big fan of pork). If you like quality oysters they have an oyster bar as well. I usually get a salad because they make good ones with house made dressing. I like the Caesar salad with salmon and the Cobb. I'm sure I could think of more things I/we have tried but I'll stop here. Oh, they have an $18 all you can eat brunch on Sundays. We always say we'll try it but never do because we're so comfortable with our usual selections off their menu. And last, they make amazing drinks! Expensive but delicious. Freshly made mojitos, orange crushes, grapefruit crushes and sangria. I have a hard time choosing what to drink! I'd be giving 5 stars if it weren't for the prices!

My whole family (10 including boyfriends/girlfriends) just had a celebration dinner there! Everything was top shelf! Food was fantastic, most had steaks, and prepared perfectly. Service was outstanding we never had to wait for anything. Drinks hit the table fast and thats important when you first sit down. Even though it was a busy night food seemed like it arrived in under 25 minutes. In all We were very pleased and the price point for the quality of the meal and service was excellent. I will visit again often. Tracy Callahan

I saw the reviews for the brunch at Grillmarx and decided that today was the day to give it a try. The restaurant was fairly empty so my sister and I were seated right away. We were told that our server would be there right away but it took her about 10 minutes to arrive. It seemed like she was waiting most of the tables in the restaurant but it was the only time she wasn't available. In fact I thought she was pretty awesome. The brunch buffet was a bit skimpy. I expected that $18 would go beyond the offerings available. I would have liked more seafood options to start. My biggest problem is that most of the food tasted like it had been sitting out for ages. The bagels were rock hard, the scrambled eggs were like rubber, the pancakes looked odd so I didn't bother. The "carving station" was a lonely prime rib that was getting cold. It tasted great but I would have liked some more variety. Another issue I had is that the condiments weren't available at the buffet. No syrup next to the pancakes, no horseradish or au jus with the prime rib, no onions with the lax. The service here is top notch and I think I might be back to try their non-brunch options. The brunch however, is to be avoided.

Ordered the Steak salad with balsamic dressing. Very good. And the service is excellent. Great atmosphere for big parties and upbeat Stephanie and max were great. Jeff the bartender is a funny guy at he bar. Stop by and say hi to Jeff. Order a fireball. Yeah!!!

Very disappointed!!! Very expensive for a poor service. I ordered a filet mignon medium well, it was burned....second time it wasn't even filet mignon! They brought something else. The bread was old and hard to eat.....1 start is for the waitress. We will never going to eat in this place

We love Grillmarx! We have visited Grillmarx in Clarksburg since they opened. They have gone through a "new opening" learning curve, but we have stuck with them and are very pleased. I always get their veggie burger, which is excellent, and the rest of the family have tried many of their dishes and have always been pleased. We love the idea of walking to a good, local restaurant for lunch or dinner. The staff are friendly and efficient. So glad they are here! Keep up the good food and service.

This is a high-end bar and restaurant with great food and friendly attentive service. Except for maybe Agrodolce, this is probably the best higher end restaurant in the Germantown/Clarksburg area. Nothing else comes to mind as we primarily have low to mid-priced chains, ethnic restaurants and fast food. That's about it. So, before I get into the review I have to say I was surprised how much I liked Grillmarx! Prior to its opening, the overpriced menu did not impress me and with the name and logo I was expecting an Outback that served oysters. When I walked in this restaurant it feels like a privately owned steakhouse (it is the owners second restaurant), which I didn't expect to find in a new Montgomery County strip mall (which have awful reputations for placing whatever chain will pay the rent). Sadly, those great small places you watch on "Diners, Drive-ins & Dives" can't afford the rent in new construction so we'll always get a franchise. For dinner I got the Filet in cracked peppercorn sauce with a red wine reduction. Steak was cooked perfect medium-rare, as ordered. Could have used more of the peppercorn (which was just a sprinkle on top) and the wine reduction was a little too sweet. The steak also had a bit of a strong burnt taste from however it was prepared. Still it was a good cut of meat and the serving of vegetables was generous and they were cooked perfectly. I saw a prime rib walk by that looked great, which is what I'll try next time. Also tried the crab cakes which were great. The Mac & Cheese which is very good. And was not crazy about the mussels with a sauce that is very heavy on the cream and light on flavor. This is a legitimate oyster bar with 3 different varieties and a proper shucking station you can sit at while being served. The oysters are excellently presented on thoroughly cleaned shells (i.e. no mud or grain fragments) with 4 sauces. Traditional cocktail sauce, hot sauce (yes!), a citrus vinegar mignonette and fresh horse radish (which was great and has never been offered to me before). The oysters are expensive at $2 each. Local varieties at a restaurant are worth $1-$1.50 and those outside of the Eastern Shore area are worth $1.50-$2.50. Keep in mind you can walk across the parking lot to Harris Teeter and buy a box of 100 for $35, so don't be fooled into thinking oysters are worth more than $1 each prepared. However, on Tuesdays one variety will be $1 each. I didn't see oysters on the happy hour menu, but I'm hoping I missed it or they get added there as well. At $1 each it is definitely a draw. Price criticism aside, the oysters were awesome. Have not had a better presentation anywhere, other than when a shucker is handing them to me as fast as I'm eating them. KID's MEALs averaged $10 each. There was good variety and both the ingredients and sides offered were high quality. So, the cost was double what you'd pay at Bennigans for a kids meal, but everything was as well prepared as my meal. They also give the kids Etch-A-Sketches and FP Magnetic Drawing pads to play with which kept them busy and was a great alternative to the standard crayons and paper. I always thought the crayons were kind of wasteful as they get used for 10 minutes and then thrown out. The bar area is huge and the bartenders are animated and friendly. Big long bar, well stocked, with signature drinks peppered with fresh squeezed juices and unique ingredients. There were high tables to sit at and a small oyster bar with 6 seats. This place can hold a healthy happy hour crowd. The inside is finished nice and the kitchen is behind a big transparent wall so you can watch the cooking process if you like. While I thought the prices were on the high side, it was a really nice place and I'm just happy to be able to order oysters so close to home! NOTE- At the same price point as Grillmarx, you can head up to many great restaurants in Frederick, Monocacy Crossing being the closest, for higher end food. Or of course head down to Gaithersburg/Rockville. Less convenient, but if you are already paying over $30 for an entree, you may want to look at other semi-local options. But in Germantown/Clarskburg, this is it!

Busy but not overly crowded for a Saturday night at 7:30pm we decided to stop by and grab a late dinner. We arrived and only had a 20 minute wait for dinner at the bar. Once seated the waitress quickly took our order, had to run into the kitchen for the answers to some pretty basic questions regarding menu items but did satisfy my curiosity quickly. I ordered a Kona ribeye medium rare with the mashed potatoes, we also ordered the regular ribeye medium with seasonal veggies. The Kona was charred and almost completely well done, the regular ribeye was mid-well and both tasted like they had every ounce of juice squeezed out of them. The mash was lukewarm and a solid mass that looked like it was put on a plate by an overzealous ice cream vendor. All in all a disappointment after hearing so many good reviews.

Truly a 1.5 star experience. I ordered the NY Strip steak. What I got was a sirloin at best. Not very tender and did not have a good taste. I was very disappointed. My wife ordered the meatloaf. Portions were extremely small. The food was very overpriced for it being a sports bar. Was not worth the money. The waiter basically ignored us the entire time. I saw him three times during the whole dinner, had to chase after him to get a drink refill. The waitress for the table next to us was constantly checking on her table. We felt neglected. Not sure if it was because the restaurant was crowded, but not great service. WILL NOT COME HERE AGAIN. I recommend that you don't either!

Arrived at brunch with a friend and her son. We all ordered our food, although it was 1 o'clock pm, brunch buffet was until 2:00pm. I did not go there or have knowledge of the buffet beforehand, but ordered anyway. My friend ordered a Tuna dish and her son, a deliciously prepared hot dog. Brunch was fantastic, as were the other meals. Service was great. Only 1 star removed for lack of some items on the buffet, and server at the carving station. I had to request each time, but the gentleman was very polite and added to the experience :) Definitely a value.

I loved Grillmarx, it was really beautifully designed and set up. I didn't feel like i was right next to anyone in the restaurant. The staff is really nice, and attentive. I really wanted to try this place since a family I babysit for raved about their time there. The dad suggested that I get the Kona steak, he was right. Kona steak. Always. Forever. Kona. This is pretty much my motto about Grillmarx. It is really amazing. You really can't go wrong with the Kona. It is marinated in pineapple juice, coffee grounds, and other amazing things. You really think it would be gross but, it was juicy, it didn't need any sauce unlike their normal ribeye which seemed plain compared to the Kona.

I thought this place was excellent and a rare find in Clarksburg. The greens salad with Salmon and champagne dressing was very, very good. The salmon was cooked perfectly to medium rare like I requested. The grilled artichoke was extremely smokey and a great, fun, and exciting appetizer to share. My friend's shrimp cocktail was a little mean (as Marco Pierre White would say) in that it only had 3 shrimp. Second go-round we got a spinach dip app that was very tasty, and the chips were great. I ordered the prime rib, the first of my life, and was blown away by how good it was. HUGE portion (wondered if they just gave me the rest of the cow since the kitchen was closing) cooked to a perfect medium rare, served with butter, horseradish sauce and other tasty things. It tasted phenomenal and even made me reconsider my tendency to always order NY strip or fillet steaks at steakhouses. They did forget to include my sauteed mushrooms, but not a big deal. BTW, I was so stuffed that I couldn't eat what looked like the last bite or two of my prime rib so I got a to-go box. The next day I started eating it and realized that there's a lot of delicious goodness that basically has to be gnawed off the bone. So I channeled my inner canine and 15 minutes later had had a somewhat impromptu lunch. It was still delicious despite being cold! I should also mention the wine. A good and somewhat eclectic selection with many good varieties priced at $4-6 a glass?! Dorothy, we're not in Washington anymore! Those are late-night prices by the way, not happy hour. The ambiance is also really nice. A classy, dark-wood decor, somewhat dimly lit, with a full bar and comfortable seating makes it a place you just want to hang out in. In fact we talked about how other steakhouses we go to have somewhat uncomfortable seating (Ray's the Classics comes to mind) so even if we go for the steaks, we don't linger over drinks.

Really high priced for a sports bar. We went to Grill Marx on a Saturday at 1:30 pm. My friend had heard about it and wanted to check it out. I did not know it was a "Sport's Bar" prior to my dining experience. I looked at yelp reviews, and found the Olney location higher rated but went for the pleasure for my friends great company A plus is the Free wi-fi ("GUEST123") Our server was Byron, his birthday was the day before, his mother and sister came to the bar for the grits and shrimp dish today and he pointed them out for us. As per Byron, they (mother and sister) frequent quite often, (his mother was wearing Army fatigues) furthermore, Byron prefers them not to sit in his section so that he can focus better on his customers. I had the white wine sangria $9.00 (Byron recommended the red sangria however because it was cold outside) One of my friends got the Red Sangria, but did not finish it. The bill for 4 of us came to $74.00. There was a football game on TV and the hootin n' hollerin' carried over to the dining area from the bar, unless you're an athletic supporter no need to go on Sat or Sun during any sport season. The TV narration carried over to the bathroom speakers as well luckily for me.hhmmm. (snicker) I can only really review what I ordered in good faith.Starting with the Thai chicken won-ton w/ bleu cheese dressing as an appetizer. The chicken was a bit dry and stringy, but the product was deep fat fried to perfection. My meal was then followed by the pecan chicken salad with spicy thai peanut dressing and tortilla strips. Let me start by saying I am not a Chicken farmer or horticultural major with an MBA, but it appeared to be chicken Deli meat. Ha hem...that being said, I was pretty hungry. One of my friends ordered shrimp and grits, the other friend ordered roast beef french dip. She didn't talk as much as usual during the meal, so I was only left to assume it wasn't half bad. Additionally, she got mashed potatoes in error, instead of the Cream of Crab soup she ordered, Byron stated it was on him and left it at our table. Byron had to be reminded for our take out containers, so me thinks that his Moms and Sis could have sat in his section anyway. My husband stated the half rack of ribs he ordered was not worth coming back for, but it was very impressive when Byron brought out 3 hot piping towelettes after the rib meal.(more upscale than packets with the towel being a piece of 2x2 gauze, if they can even "spare a square" at all)). My husband then stated his Coke was delicious. The Women's bathroom was exquisite;very classy and don't forget you get the pleasure of hearing the football calls whilst in there. soooooo...oh and very well supplied with probably the highest quality paper hand towels this reviewer has ever encountered. If only I had a bigger purse...ho hum. Well there's No going back now. Literally...I'm not going back...there.

So beware of the service and don't come expecting to get out in a timely manner. We had party of 15 for 2 birthdays and the restaurant and bar were pretty much empty on this Tuesday night. Service was so slow with 1 waiter and one in training serving us. Drinks took way too long along with refills. I ended going up to the bar myself to get my and my wife's refills. It took an hour for one in the party to get her crab cake appetizer, 30 minutes after everyone else had received theirs. They brought bread but no bread plates and when asked for more bread it never appeared. All Prime Rib orders were sent back because they were cold and one never appeared until 15 minutes after everyone was served. Terrible experience but fortunately we had great company in our party. Here is the problem with Grill Marx and especially the Clarksburg location (been to both). We love the restaurant, the food and close proximity but there service 90% of the time sucks. If the waiter is over his head ask for help as there were other waiters not busy. At the end of the day I blame management for this because it is all about hiring the right people and training them properly to service their paying guests. Also noted, there was no manager that I was aware of working to whom I could complain about the service. I did complain to the bartender when I got our refills and hats off to him he did light a fire under our waiters and service got a little better. Good food but lousy service and management should address it.

Food has gotten a lot better since they've opened. Their kids' menu price went down, so that's always a plus.

I have been here a couple times and the food has been amazing and the servers are attentive. They have great steaks and crab cakes. I would recommend anyone to go, make sure you either have a reservation or have time to wait before eating it is normally busy.

Somehow the review u wanted to post for another business ended on this business'page. I have never been so I cannot review it but feel it's only fair that I do not penalize them with a bad review when I am the silly one who can't remove the review while using the app....

I expected more for the price at GrillMarX. I'm a meatloaf fan and was disappointed with the size of the portion and the season mix in the meatloaf. I like a traditional recipe and they tried to change it with a few additional ingredients. The atmosphere is nice but that is not my priority compared to the food quality and portion. The service was very attentive but I was disappointed that there were no complementary "extras" such as biscuits, bread or chips before the meal. If you like great atmosphere and don't care for larger portions then maybe this will be your place. But I don't plan on returning.

Great place to go! Awesome atmosphere and great for family, but doesn't have a traditional Happy Hour! No real drink specials. I go here a lot but find myself and all the guys I hang with finding alternatives for HH. I don't call $9.00 well drinks HH prices and if they would drop and implement a true HH they would probably kill it!!!

First time at this relatively new location in Clarksburg. Nice steaks house sort of atmosphere. Ate at the bar which has also tables each with its own TV screen which is a little unusual for the kind of restaurant this place seems to be. Would figure on seeing that at a sports bar which I don't think they're positioning themselves as, but it's not all that apparent so not too distracting to the overall vibe. Staff very friendly and helpful throughout the evening,. I would think a place like this could do better than having just beers from the bigger craft brewers on tap. A better selection of more regional craft beers from smaller brewers would go a long way in making the bar a more upscale place to hang out. Started off with the spinach dip which was a good sized portion of flavorful spinach with not to much cream and cheese mixed in (the right way to do it vs. some that are more dairy than spinach). A side of fresh tomato salsa and a LOT of warm tortilla chips. Great appetizer, definitely big enough to be shared by two people. I wasn't in the mood for a steak tonight so went for the roasted Lemon-Thyme rotisserie chicken. Comes with a baked potato which I asked to be switched out for the red-bliss mashed potatoes which they were very accommodating and did, but maybe that was a mistake. Well maybe the whole thing was a mistake. The chicken didn't have a lot of lemon or thyme flavor. I guess you could say it didn't have a lot of flavor at all. While the meat on the good sized half chicken was cooked well and had some juices running from it, the skin was pretty dried out and had no flavor at all. The mashed potatoes weren't that blissful. They were also pretty flavorless and dry (maybe they just chopped up the baked potato and didn't add any butter, cream or seasoning?). I don't usually add salt to food at a restaurant like this, but both the main dish and side definitely needed it here. While I recognize this is a steakhouse and raw bar restaurant, so is BC Steak down the road in Gaithersburg, and each and every time I get a the rotisserie chicken and mashed potatoes there (and that's been quite a few times at this point) the whole always thing comes out much better than what I had at Grillmarx tonight. BC's chicken is always juicy and flavorful inside and out and the mashed potatoes creamy and delicious. I'm sure I'll give Grillmarx another try. Just have to choose a different main course.

I love love love grillmarx! Beautiful restaurant with a casual yet upscale feel just as it is described. Their avocado turkey burger is amazing as well as their chicken tenders. Love the oysters at the raw bar too. It's a go-to spot for me. Try the creme brûlée too! You won't regret it. Staff is generally friendly, especially at the bar/raw bar.

Im glad that Clarksburg is finally getting more developed with stores and stuff before Clarksburg looked like something out of the popular game of Minecraft. Piles and piles of dirt and semi constructed houses. I was happy that GrillMarx had open up closer to me. I have been here numerous of times and each time the food is good. The decor is very trendy and chic. A little dark. Its a mixture of a sports pub / steakhouse. Bring your glasses or wear your contacts because the prices arent a joke. The hostess'es here are friendly and so are the wait staff. All of them are helpful and come in handy when you are indecisive. My favorite menu items are their soups. Every Saturday, Im here for their cream of crab soup! though I feel like I get more soup if I eat in then getting take out. The soup is so rich in flavor and theres no imitation crab stuff floating. So thats one of my recommedations. Other one thats a must is there French Onion soup. I ditched my Panera for this. Here is the real deal. A major difference from Panera. Its rich in flavor and soo cheesy. And each bit has a good spoonful of cooked onions. Brunch on Sundays can be a hit or miss. My suggestions is to get here early, that way, the food is fresh off the grill because like most places it sits in warmers until its empty or they change the pan and that rarely happens. There prime rib is a hit or miss here. Im serious when it comes to my prime rib, and I like it with its au jus and fixings and a few times I didnt see it out. A couple of times I have to ask someone to crave my meat or I have to find someone but overall the wait staff here is friendly. I must say that this place is expensive unlike your typical steakhouses but you get far more flavor and better quality here than Outback.

Came here for a quiet night out,one night and was not thrilled nor was I disappointed. The food was average and the drinks were just drinks. Fast forward to last nights dinner and that's a whole other story. Service was mediocre. Food was below decent to say the least and for what we got? Overpriced. I would a elaborate on my experience but I feel like it would be a waste of my time. Only good thing about this place was the dollar oysters on Tuesday .. And that's about it. Sad that I thought we could call this place our little hidden gem inside of clarksburg, but if anyone wants to come for servers that are annoyed for being there or for burnt black and served burger patties? Then be my guest.

You know dinner went poorly when the waitress comes with your check and says, "I'm sorry I never cleared your table; if you decide to come again, I promise I will." To their credit we didnt notice that we didn't have silverware, napkins, or place matts until after our food was out. We had to search for someone to assist us to eat what was some of the most bland and overcooked steak tips I have ever had. The reduction they were served in was very thin and the mashed potatoes are very literally described as such. The only reason it received a second star is because my fiance's ribs "weren't half bad, but you can get better ribs at the omish market," and the crab dip was delicious. Honestly, one of the worst service experiences I have had in years, and I am a former waitress. Certainly not worth the cost. I don't think we will be taking her up on the second try.

Met a friend I had not seen in years for Sunday brunch today. We picked Grillmarx since in between DC and Frederick. The company and conversation were far better than the food. Don't get me wrong, it's typical Sunday brunch fare with prime rib, omelettes made to order, and the regular stuff you would find at a Golden Corral breakfast buffet (which is quite good and costs under $10). Bagels were low grade and tasted like regular store bought bulk bagels you find at Safeway or Giant. No juice bar, didn't see any yogurt or granola, and very sparse pastry offering and what was offered is served cold (not warm). Any type of seafood is also missing which is odd since this restaurant has a wide selection of seafood entrees. Pancakes on the breakfast bar were rather cold/room temperature. Cost is $24 per person and cocktails are additional. The Bloody Mary's are huge, pretty good and they rim the glass with Old Bay. Was not the least bit crowded and no need to make reservations unless visiting on Mother's or Father's Day. In summary, pretty average for the price, and feel that more items should be offered on the breakfast bar portion of the brunch. This really is a $10-15 brunch/buffet if paying additional for brunch cocktails.

We ended up stopping here while house hunting in clarksburg since options were limited. I got a beet spinach salad which was really good if not enormous. My boyfriend got chicken salad which was good. The problem was our waiter. Without that we would have given it 4 stars. He was so lazy and uninterested in us. The table next to us had a great waitress. We wete jealous. It was also really cold inside since the ac was cranking on overdrive.

Best restaurant in Montgomery County! So far I have tried and loved the crab dip, the ribs, peppercorn filet, any fish special, fish special sandwich and brunch. The tres leches cake is really good for dessert. Yes, the prices are a little high but the food quality, service, ambiance and location make up for that. This restaurant is as good as eating in Bethesda or DC without the drive. I can't wait to try more menu items soon! Tip: if you want bread all you have to do is ask. They take reservations now!

Having had good experiences at GrillMarX in Olney, my wife and I decided to try the relatively new Clarksburg GrillMarX. As we were seated we immediately ordered a half bottle of Frog's Leap 2012 sauvignon blanc. We were served a 2013. Not as good as 2012, but OK. We simultaneously ordered oysters and clams for an appetizer. Then we waited. We decided to order a red for our entrees while we were waiting and have it decanted. We ordered a Nina Lee Syrah 2010 from Walla Walla - a great area for syrah. Our young server brought it to the table with a beautiful ship's decanter but no glasses as requested. After I had to pull the cork for her, because she was having problems and was about to call the manager over, she decanted it without giving us a taste. We asked about our seafood appetizers. "On the way" we were told. We waited, sipping our white. No oysters or clams appeared. We had now waited ~ 25 minutes or so. A manager walked by. I caught his eye. I told him about it. He apologized and said he would fix it. Less than a minute later, the seafood arrived with more apologies. Then, just as we began to dig in, our entrees arrived! Not wanting to have cold entrees, we gulped down the appetizers and started in on our entrees with white wine still in our glasses. In retrospect, maybe we should have sent the entrees back. The red wine glasses we were promised still had not arrived. After a few minutes, our server came by and asked if everything was OK. I complained politely that we received our entrees one minute after the appetizers. And that we still had no red wine glasses - obviously, she forgot them. When she then came back with the glasses, we decided to just pour our wine ourselves. Since we were celebrating Valentine's Day early, we ordered a crème brulee and a glass of port for dessert to share. The menu advertised "Fonseca Vintage Port" for $8.00 a glass. Nice. I did not inquire about the vintage, because with vintage port, all declared vintages are good, and I knew it would not be old, but that's fine at $8.00, even for a small glass. When she arrived at the table with dessert, she presented a small cordial glass, saying "this is Fonseca Late Bottled Vintage Port". Sigh. I politely explained that Late Bottled and Vintage are two completely different animals. I stifled my desire to complain about truth in advertising. Again our server apologized - for about the 4th time over the course of the meal. The better news: Blue Point oysters and Littleneck clams - very good. I had a scrumptious Angus filet with a cabernet/fennel sauce and perfectly grilled baby asparagus. My wife had grilled pork tenderloin which she said was just "good". The syrah was as good as expected. Dessert was good. Unfortunately the dinner was marred by incompetent service. Unacceptable when you are dropping $200.00+ on dinner. I may be willing to try again sometime, if I hear that GrillMarX has repaired its broken service standard at this location.

I went to the new GrillMarx in Clarksburg, MD on July 19th, 2014. It didn't seem to be well coordinated. One waitress introduced herself and said she would be right back, then another waitress said she would be our waitress because the other one was "getting meat" (I swear that's what she said). We ordered the steamed garlic mussells, which were delicious. The cream sauce was excellent. However, the ones on the bottom of the dish were almost all closed. If you know anything about seafood (which this place SHOULD), you know that mussels that are closed after being steamed should NEVER be served. Either they were not steamed enough, or if they were, the mussel died and can make you sick if you eat it. Almost half of the mussels in the order were closed. We let our waitress know, who took it back to the kitchen. About 10 minutes later, one of the managers brought over a new order of the garlic steamed mussels, and said "I hope these are to your satisfaction." We both really felt that he was annoyed and thought we were trying to get something for free, and didn't realize how serious it was that they had served us several mussels that were closed. They also didn't remove the charge for the mussels, which they really should have. I sent an email to GrillMarx through their web site and got no response. I won't be going back. In addition, my $16 crab cake was TINY. And it came with grilled corn and that was it. So I ate most of the second dish of mussels, since otherwise I would have been hungry. Overall, I was very disappointed.

I went here with my parents to celebrate my new place. As Canadians, we love malt vinegar on our fries. The manager, Dave, was sympathetic to this, as his wife also loved malt vinegar. The restaurant did not have any in stock, but while we were eating, Dave ran across the street, in the rain, to Harris Teeter to make sure that we had malt vinegar for our fries! Exceptional customer service! On top of that the food and the drinks are delicious. This place is brilliant!

This review is for the brunch that is served on Sundays only. Brunch is served buffet style. They have your typical scrambled eggs (the watery artificial tasting ones), bacon, sausage links, potatoes, bagels, pancakes, pasta, etc. I recommend for you to get your money's worth from the "make your own" omelette/prime rib station. For the price of $24 per person, I do not think the quality/variety of selection matches up. In terms of customer service, our waiter barely checked up on us, but overall the employees were friendly and assisted us when needed.

Good solid food if you don't want to take the ride to Frederick or down 270 south. My kids like the steaks. The Kona ribeye is a perfect size to split between a seven and four year old with good appetites. Sides are good. It's not Morton's or Ruth's but we have not been disappointed. Never a long wait to be seated and kid friendly good a long way with me. I like being able to see some of the kitchen. Good solid choice for steaks and pricing is just about inline with food quality.

We were excited to finally make it to the neighborhood Grill Marx for Sunday brunch. Our excitement did not last long, what a disappointment! The breakfast brunch consisted of strawberries (some of which were obviously rotten), bagels and muffins (I could not open the mini bagel I picked as it was so hard), smoked salmon, sausages (this was good), bacon, scrambled eggs, potatoes and pancakes. A separate carving station and omelette station was included. As listed in their website there were no bread or pastries. Website also says "fruits" but only had one fruit. My husband asked for toast and he was told there is an extra charge. The omelette station and the carving station was not manned at all times and diners were waiting for at least 5 minutes before someone showed up to serve them. Food was average at best! Our waitress was attentive and polite.

Grill Marx is a great place to go. Living in the Clarksburg community, it is in a great location and meets everyone's satisfaction. The food is pretty reasonably priced. High enough where not a place that many teenagers hang out, yet low enough to enjoy regularly. The oysters are pretty fresh, but could be shucked a lot more cleanly. Many times the oysters are punctured and very expensive (about $2 per oyster). The bar is very nice, and the staff is very friendly. Their chickens tenders are very good, and all the other food is pretty good!

This is an avg run of the mill steak & seafood joint. Prices are a bit steep for the portion sizes. I had a couple of appetizers, spicy shrimp and steamed mussels. I received three measly peices of shrimp that were overly seasoned and priced ($2 ea). The mussels were drench in some awful cream sauce with not a shred of garlic flavor. Perhaps this place is better with their steaks. Staff was pleasant so I might give them a pass if I'm ever in the area again.

I usually sit at the bar when I go to Grillmarx in Clarksburg since it's a good happy hour place whose happy hour is longer than most places in the area, so I can't speak to the negative reviews of the table service (although the handful of times I've sat in a booth/outside the service has always been pretty good), but the bartenders here are awesome. Super friendly and attentive, and they make really strong drinks which is exactly what you want from a bartender! The steak is always cooked well, garlicy spinach side is awesome, and even though I'm not a big fan of clams anyone who I usually go with always orders some of those, and have never had any complaints. I'd say Grillmarx is definitely the best place to eat at out of the few restaurants in the growing Clarksburg-bubble.

We went to the restaurant with a large group on a Friday night and had a fantastic experience. Three members of our party of seven had legitimate, difficult allergies--a shellfish allergy, a dairy allergy, and celiac. The waitress and chef both came to talk to us to make sure they understood the allergies, and the chef was kind enough to offer to custom make a dessert for my friend with celiac and dairy problems. The food was all good, the service was excellent, and the drinks were great as well. We will definitely return.

We looked forward to Grillmarx opening after what seemed like a long delay. Tho loud, the atmosphere is nice. We had good service and enjoyed our meal. The crab dip was some of the best that I have had locally, the prime rib was a little dry but very tender, the peppercorn steak was the highlight of our table. Unfortunately they were out of the macaroni and cheese and we were "forced" into the cheesy grits....omg, do not miss them. They were a little runny but tasted amazing. We tried the desert trinity, the apple crisp was the star of that dish. Will I go back? Absolutely, not just because it is in walking distance but because it was good.

We had a very good experience when we went for dinner. We made a reservation for 6:00 and we had a party of five. The only area for improvement is that my father could not read the menu as the print was small. I would recommend larger print menus for folks that require them. We ordered two appetizers (mussels and wings) and they were both delicious. For dinner, we ordered the Kona Steak, Salmon and Steak Salad. The Kona Steak was cooked properly(medium rare) and it was exceptional. I polled the folks who had the Salmon and Steak and they were impressed. Someone in our party ordered the Apple Crisp, which was shared, and everyone raved about it. Compliments to our server, who was extremely attentive, friendly. The restaurant is on the expensive side and many people may only experience it on special occasions. We will be back.

Well, where do I begin, I like the place very much, now on Tuesday December 30 a group of 7 decided to go here for dinner. Wow was service bad, we waited for everything. Yes , water refills took 10 minutes and drinks well we had two designated drivers yet at the rate the drinks arrived it would have taken Four hours to get three drinks. Even waited 12 minutes to pay the check. My son (6) said dad this is so much slower than when we sit in the other area. ( we sit in the bar booths most days). Seems the service is slipping since the original few months. Please understand service covers ,many mistakes.

My husband and I decided to give Grillmarx a second try since our first experience with dinner was not positive. We went to brunch, Sunday, July 27, 2014. The hostess asked if we wanted brunch or lunch. We responded brunch and that was the only menus we were given. It took at least 10 minutes to be greeted by our server. The restaurant was not busy at all. I ordered grapefruit juice and my husband ordered orange juice and coffee. We were excited because the menu said fresh squeezed for both juices. The orange juice came out along with the coffee. The orange juice came right out of a can. Why lie about fresh squeezed when it clearly is not. If you just listed orange juice, our expectations would not have been so high. It took another 5 minutes for my grapefruit juice to arrive. It came in the same tall glass but filled with ice. It was indeed fresh squeezed, but obviously they were not prepared with the juice and did it by hand to order and didn't get enough so added the ice. The food was very fair. Old eggs, soggy potatoes, cheap horrible bacon, mushy overripe fruit. The carving station consisted of a nub of prime rib. Very dry. No au jus to serve with it. No horse radish. The man at the carving station said "ask your server for it." If she came by in a reasonable time, I would have asked. When she cleared our plates, she didn't ask if we would like anything else, she just put the check on the table. This was our second try with Grillmarx. We wanted to like it since it's so close to home. Both visits were mediocre at best. They really need to focus on the small details. Needless to say, we will not go for "third time is the charm." Sorry.

Good energetic atmosphere, was busy on a friday night but you could still get a seat, sat at the bar myself... Calamari app was a big serving and fried just right, Spiced Pecan Chicken Salad was huge and a good deal, Surf and Turf was good overall but a bit overpriced at $29 to have such a small crab cake. Had some good craft beers on tap... Overall nice place, good service and food, would definitely like to try again

After anxiously awaiting the opening of this new restaurant in our neighborhood, my husband and I were excited to finally dine here tonight. It was worth the wait. The atmosphere is ambient, classy and clean. The kitchen is visible through a glass wall which brings added comfort to be able to see what goes on in there. The cocktails were pretty good, although the outside of the glasses were a little sticky. We were satisfied with our appetizers - cream of crab soup and classic wedge salad. Our entrees (filet and ribeye) were prompt and amazing. Unfortunately, we had no room for dessert! Our server did a nice job but her personality was a little dry. We chalk that up to her being busy. We will definitely be back and are looking forward to working our way through the rest of the menu. Well done, GrillMarx!

7 of us went to celebrate my wife's birthday and this was her choice. The service was outstanding and our waitress was absolutely on point. However, one thing that really pisses me off is when I go to a speciality restaurant, like a steakhouse, and they cannot figure out how to cook a steak to the right temperature. My daughter and my wife both ordered $30 steaks. They both asked for medium, which is a warm pink center. My wife actually asked it could be slightly before that but if not that would be fine. When they both came out, my daughter cut in to hers and it was completely rare to almost raw in the dead center. So, after having to wait about 5 minutes for the waitress to come back, she sent it back asking that it be put back on the grill. I asked my daughter why she didn't want a new properly cooked steak as this one will get tough by doing it this way. She said that she didn't want to watch everyone eat, then have to be the only one eating while we were all done. My wife had been busy chatting and just starting in on the end cut of hers and said it looked great. But, by the time she got about a third of the way in, it was like my daughter's steak. The flavor was outstanding on the steaks and very good on the other dishes from the table feedback. It just isn't cool in my book to spend $60 on 2 steaks and both of them undercooked. If it was a $12 steak it would be more tolerable. I would have given this place 5 stars but when you charge a lot of money for a meal, you definitley need to get it right.

We've been several times--typically, the experience is a 3.5 star outing (good food, good drinks, good service). Tonight was more of a 1 star kind of thing. When we arrived sometime around 5pm, the place was pretty dead. Each of the 4 booths were served by different waitstaff. Our server, maybe home from college, maybe just not wanting to be there, was, not rude, per se, just short. We waited a while to be noticed/greeted. Again, the place was dead. From there, the service was about dropping items at the table, not even giving us a chance to say we needed anything else. We actually had to call her back twice and ask other people for things we needed. We ordered the Spinach Dip (a Houstons/Woodmont Grill knockoff), which my mom liked. The salsa that came with it was very good. Then we ordered the ribs appetizer--a huge portion (1/2 rack with french fries), which my mom really enjoyed. The sauce had a little kick and the ribs were cooked to her liking. I ordered the veggie burger, which was prepared incorrect, with cheese. The response of the kitchen was to scrape the cheese and re-serve. I told the food runner this didn't work for me. Clearly, I could have scraped the cheese myself (or, gone to a fast casual dining restaurant for the lack of attention to detail and service). Since our server hadn't bothered to check on us, we asked for the manager. The exchange was rough, probably for the both of us. But, I left with the understanding that if the kitchen messed up an order, this was the solution I should expect from this establishment. Unfortunately, that doesn't work for me. I've always like the strong drinks at GrillMarx, and the Veggie Burger has been good in the past (another Houstons/Woodmont Grill knockoff), and we've liked having a decent option in the area. But, with the prices and the ambience comes a certain expectation of service, quality and attention to detail--all missing from tonight's experience.

Went there for lunch and enjoyed the BBQ sandwich. It tasted great, but I've never been to a restaurant where a BBQ sandwich (or platter, or anything really) doesn't come with coleslaw. Was a little irritated that I had to pay extra for a side of this. Also, was shocked to see that a steakhouse of all places doesn't offer bread to start.

This is my new favorite restaurant. Although pricey, I have been here for two special occasion dinners with large groups (8-10 people) and found the service to be very good and accomodating. The food is excellent. Steaks, crabcakes, burgers, fish, appetizers all very tasty. I would highly recommend this place for any get together of dinner for two. Quiet dining area or a more lively bar area. Very nice atmoshpere.

We have been waiting to go to Grillmarx in Clarksburg for quite a while. The directions in Yelp are wrong, and we actually got lost in Clarksburg. How is that possible ? They now have posted signs along the way... And even my dumb ass found it this time. Enough about my journey, this place is very trendy and and probably the best restaurant in Clarksburg. Very open atmosphere, super comfortable booths and excellent staff make this the place to go for lunch or dinner. Now about the food, we went for a late lunch and were very surprised about all the excellent choices on the menu. I was craving steak and one of my favorites, the Kona ribeye is always an excellent choice...but not today. I went for the 16 ounce prime rib, this thing blew my doors off. Cooked medium it was outrageous. My friend went for the grilled corn salad with crispy chicken.. (But she couldn't keep her eyes off my prime rib). Cristina said it was one of the best salads she's had in quite a while, next time she said she's going prime. The grilled asparagus is always a good choice, this is one of my favorites at the Olney location. We also tried the spinach dip with chips as an appetizer, and this was super. We definitely give this place high MARX, and I'm glad to see some quality restaurants coming to Clarksburg. Rock on dudes and have some beef.

There's good, bad, and ugly about the newly opened Grillmarx in Clarksburg Village. The Good: The Kona steak and cabernet sauvignon sauce reduction ($1.50 extra) are absolutely fantastic. We ordered the steak medium and it was cooked properly. The meat was juicy, smoky, and flavorful -- you come here for the steak. The added bonus was the sauce, which was equally unique and fragrant with rosemary. There's always a debate about whether one should pour sauce on a well cooked steak, but we say GO AHEAD with this one! We also had a crab-cake and it was all meat and less "fluff" inside -- worth the price. The Bad: The steak fries on the side were weak and limp -- such a letdown next to a great steak! You could tell they were sitting out for a while and lost their crisp; or maybe they were never crispy to begin with. The restaurant can re-evaluate the way they cook and keep their steak fries. Some downside with the crab-cake was the brown mustard poured on top -- go easy on the mustard as it took away the natural flavor of the crab-cake! The Ugly: We weren't intending to order any dessert but the waiter convinced us that the apple crumble had just come out of the oven, so we ordered one (I mean, who can say no to fresh hot apple crumble.) But after waiting 25 minutes, I summoned the waiter and asked what happened and he nonchalantly said "Oh you need an apple crumble? Hold on I'll grab one for you." It was quite an odd response given how HE was convincing us to order one in the first place. When he returned he said "The apple crumble will take another 40 min to bake." I was absolutely stunned at the reversal, and after keeping us waiting for 25 min! There was a table of 6 women next to us who overhead, who apparently also ordered the apple crumble and were tirelessly waiting -- they too summoned the waiter and changed their order to cheesecake. I asked for the check instead. I think the waiter's misguided "sell" behavior and nonchalance was rather odd and left a bad taste after a decent meal.

Grill Marx was in a great location, great interior but the food was mediocre. I ordered the French Dip but they should call it the French bread with a smidgin' of beef. I had to remove the beef from the bread in order to taste it. The beef was well cooked and slightly dry. The roll was literally almost 1/2 the size of my plate. I didn't know the side sauce was a horseradish sauce, it was very bland. We thought it was sour cream. My guest ordered the Salmon dish. The waiter told him it would be cooked slightly pink but it was well done. The spinach did have great flavor & he ordered mashed potatoes instead of the starch it came with. The meal looked good. I wish I ordered what he did. The portion looked smaller than I expected but it was more appetizing than mine. I felt like I was paying for bread & fries for mine. I don't think I would go back, it's just not worth the money. Sorry Grillmarx. The best part of my visit there was the conversation with my guest.

GrillMarx hit the spot! The food and service were top notch. The place was full of smiles and the sounds of laughter. Great place to grab a burger or a full rack of ribs! Everything tasted great!

A wonderful dining experience. I have now gone with my entire family, a large group of 10, an even larger company event and also alone with my wife. I have found an incredible consistency in the food and with the entire service staff. This is a must for everyone!

The pork tenderloin is amazing! After having it, I craved it again for weeks! The place is pretty pricy, so I've only been there twice. It's a classy restaurant with very tasty food and friendly service.

We were looking forward to this neighborhood addition, but left quite underwhelmed. The waiter was quite nice, but the kitchen didn't do him any favors. The ribs came out cold (back to the nuker I bet), the kids pasta was spicy (how many kids would eat that?) and the kids hot dog was burned (replaced with a new one). The kids ended up eating mostly the french fries. We bailed on dessert, not expecting that to save the day. Sad to say, this place clearly has issues!

This is our new favorite place. Good food, nice staff and great location. The bar area is awesome and hopping. Can't wait for spring and the patio area to open.

Great addition to upper moco steak houses. Clean, quiet, friendly attentive staff and great steaks. Especially the Kona. It is a bit pricier and tucked away in Clarksburg but more than worth it.

Went for the oysters but the ambience and food was excellent. Nice environment and the prices were average. I ordered the oysters. Yummy. The raw bar was very good. The service was sooo good also. The bartender Chris was very personable. I would recommend this place to anyone especially couples looking to have a great date night.

I was excited for the upcoming new grillmarx coming to clarksburg. Let's face it.. There's nowhere to eat in Damascus/ clarksburg expect fast food. With that being said, I was extremely disappointed last night. I first started with the baked potato soup. I asked for no scallions instead I wanted a little cheese and bacon. Fine. Soup came it was delicious. Then I had the herb roasted chicken with a side of fries. The chicken was a huge let down. The spices on it was too overpowering. Spicy and very runny. I'm used to copper canyon maybe I'm just spoiled with their chicken. Ok so the chicken got sent back. I ordered a cheeseburger medium well. The server Gavin asked me to choose a different side so it all comes together fresh. So I decided to try the Mac and cheese. Got the cheeseburger and Mac and cheese. Ahhhh gross!!!! The cheeseburger was burnt and the Mac and cheese was again runny and bland.. And COLD!!!! by this time I was DONE!!! Asked for a box, it was going to my dogs. The check came.... The GARNISH of bacon and cheese for the soup was $2.00!! And that Mac and cheese the server told me to get a new side... That was $1.00. So my cheeseburger was $16.00?!? For a cheeseburger... No thanks. And $7.00 for a CUP of soup... No thanks. So I have to say my ice tea was delicious!!! Bottom line if you're looking for an over priced meal with a good glass of ice tea this is the place for you.

We've been here about two time. The food is delicious and very fresh. It is a bit on the pricier side but it's not expensive. I think you do get what you paid for though. My favorite things on the menu is the wings, burger and creme brulee (sp?). If I recall correctly, the burger is about $15. But that burger is cooked perfectly. Juicy meat with fresh crunchy lettuce and ripe tomato. I highly recommend them and I can't wait to go back

Decent food and great service. Steak was undercooked, we sent it back and when we received it again, it was still undercooked. Same thing happened to table next to us. If you like your steak well done, done get your hopes up

My boyfriend and I had dinner here and were less than impressed. I had the baked potato soup for an appetizer which was pretty good, creamy and flavorful. We both ordered the Kono prime rib; it was such a disappointment. It lacked flavor and was not exactly medium but we ate it anyway. Our server Nick was extremely pushy with trying to upsell items on the menu, it was unbearably uncomfortable. If there is no where else to go we may return.

I am reading in absolutely disbelief the rave reviews of the new Grillmarx, some even going so far as to compare their steaks to Mortons! Either those posters have never been to Morton's or have no clue as to what fine dining is all about. I'll be the first to admit that Morton's steaks might be over-priced a bit but, comparatively speaking, Grillmarx steaks are much more overpriced than Morton's. Morton's is dining, this is 40-somethings thinking that they're still 20-somethings in their own, personal meat market. It's a clic'ish restaurant where wanna-bes go to be seen and, unfortunately, are easily heard. The place is too loud and has much too much pretense. Trust me, this place is much closer to a glorified TGI Friday's than a scaled-down Morton's. Save your money and treat yourself, for a little bit more, to a true fine dining experience elsewhere. I'd rather feel the pinch of paying a bit too much for a great experience elsewhere than feeling I got zero value dining here.

Steaks were cooked at perfection. Their quality of food and service is good. The Ambiance is classy and comfortable. The reason why it got 1 star less is because the alcohol drinks were too strong for my taste. Though they were kind enough to make the drink again, it still tasted the same. I booked this through opentable.com
