I lived in Germany for 19 years, I looked for good German food. I found this restaurant on Yelp and thought that I would give it a shot. I ordered the Jäger Schnitzel. It was good, all too much for me to eat. The salad was huge, and the Jäger Schnitzel was alright. Kind of small compared to what I am used too. But there are tons of spaetzle; more then I could eat. You should not leave hungry. So if you are looking for authentic German food so far this is the a good place to get some. Oh, one good thing is if you want to drink a good German Bier with your food. They let you bring your own. Bottom line is that it is good, but to me it is a bit expensive. For the Jäger Schnitzel with no drink I paid $21.00 with tip. I have an update to this post... I took my wife there to eat after I posted this review. This time, the food was not that good and VERY expensive. I talked to the German women about our concerns. She said that they just got a new cook. I was thinking to myself, that if I had a new cook and I am the expert on how to cook German food, that I would want to be in the kitchen teaching and monitoring what it going on in the kitchen, other than walking around to the customers in the dining room. My wife ordered Salmon and obviously the cook did not know that fish cooks quickly and I ordered Jäger Schnitzel. Both of our dishes were WAAYYYY over cooked and dry. So being that one time was a good experience and one time not so good, I would say that it is kind of hit or miss. Again stress that it was expensive. I think that our bill was something like $55.00 without drinks!!! I could understand if I were eating a Flea minion steak. However, Jäger Schnitzel is pork.

I really love traditional German food and great German food is hard to come by in these parts. You either have to travel to Germany or the MidWest. Now you don't have to go very far! We finally popped into Duesenberg's German Dinner. You may not know that it even exists except for the lone German flag hanging off the awning and the simple sign outside on Wednesdays-Saturdays. The German magic happens on Wednesday through Saturday from 5:30-10 PM. The chef shares the restaurant/kitchen space with Duesenberg's American Grill and Cafe, so the place will feel familiar although the menu is German. The restaurant is narrow and clean with tables neatly arranged through the space. The menu is simple, delicious and filling. We ordered the wiener schnitzel and jaegerschnitzel with spaetzle and a salad. The salads came out first and were huge! It was a large dinner plate filled with a trio of vinegar based salads: cabbage slaw, shredded carrot salad and potato salad. The trio shared the plate with a spring mix dressed with a vinaigrette. This in itself is huge and a perfect plate for a hot summer day - fresh and flavorful. But wait, there's more...the wiener schnitzel was a large breaded cutlet served with a lemon wedge and an enormous serving of spaetzle. The spaetzle was topped with a pork reduction with bits of shredded pork. It was really tasty. What was more impressive was the jaegerschnitzel. This plate was similar to the wiener schnitzel, but the dish was topped with this light, creamy mushroom sauce. It was so good, I could have licked the plate clean. Sometimes German food can be greasy and filling, but the food here was filling not greasy. It was fresh and perfectly seasoned. I didn't even reach for the salt and pepper. Although we were stuffed, we couldn't walk away without trying trying a piece of apple strudel with ice cream. It was a light, soft pastry wrapped around a pile of fresh, slightly sweet apples. It was delicious and a perfect ending to our dinner. Our service was efficient and pleasant. We got to meet the chef, and she was so delightful. You can tell she is passionate about fresh and healthy cooking and the food of her mother country. I kinda felt like I was in her home. She accommodates and makes dishes gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan which is really awesome for such traditional fare. We are so excited and can't wait to return with our German food loving friends!

We came upon this place by mistake. My friend told me this place was a great American diner, because she has only been here for lunch, which is when their American diner counterpart is open. When we sat down and saw the menu, we knew we had made a mistake, but why not try German food for the first time. I had the Jaeger Schnitzel mit Spaetzle und Salat and my friend had the Wiener Schnitzel mit Spaetzle oder Pommes und Salat. They were both tasted okay, and were very filling (one of the rare moments when I was full, and there was still food on the plate). I wouldn't highly rec it to anyone, but it's not a bad place. If there is a next time, we'll definitely bring beer, because they do seem like dishes better washed down with beer than soda or water.

This is the second time we went to Duesenberg's German night and it is FANTASTIC!!! As person of German heritage I grew up on German cuisine and this place tastes like what Grandmom use to make. This time I ordered the wiener schnitzel and it was tender and seasoned perfectly. I also had the spaetzle and it was better than I had in Germany this past fall. My husband ordered the Jager Schnitzel which was also delicious but not for the lactose intolerant since there is a lot of cream. We shared the apple strudel which was definitely homemade. We had two entrees, two sodas, coffee and split a dessert and it was less than $50.00!! Keep in mind this place is BYOB. The chef comes around and checks on everyone she is such a delight so nice!! This place is a must if you love German food!!

We had a great time here last night! First thing we noticed is that the dining room is a little bigger than we imagined after reading all the other reviews about how small it was. People made it sound as if our party of 6 would dominate the place lol. It's not THAT tiny. We had a variety of foods and tried all of the desserts. All of the food was delicious. Oh, and the soup of the day was carrot coconut...it was very good! The two flavors blended nicely and neither was too strong. The texture was very smooth and velvety. The main courses were all great. Everyone loved what they got including me with my sour beef dish. I tried the sauerkraut from someone else's plate and it was wonderful. Since they don't have a liqour license, you can bring your own booze (BYOB). We brought some beers and wine and they provided us with the wine glasses, beer glasses, and a bucket of ice to keep our drinks cool (since they were large format bottles of beer). Highly recommend this place for a German dinner. Remember, during the day is American food. Have fun!

My sister's best friend wanted to go here for her birthday. She's half Korean and half German, or around there. So it was a party of like 10 and the restaurant doesn't have a lot of seats and the room isn't big. I sat down and there was a couple right behind me, like I could feel their warm breath hitting my neck... And twice, the man's elbow hit my back. LOL. That was the ONLY con. And it didn't really have an effect on my overall experience, in fact it was good because I had a conversation with the couple! Very nice people hehe. To those who love German foods and/or loves this restaurant, please forgive me for my lack of knowledge on the plates being served to me that night. I do not know the names of the plates, they were hard to pronounce. The only words I understood was bratwurst and schnitzel. Okay so we all ordered and I got the dish that consists of pork schnitzel with gravy that came with a side of salad and something else, but I don't remember. My sister had marinated beef with red cabbage and I'm not going to lie, that red cabbage was delicious! It's hard to make veggies so fun and easy to eat these days, but at Duesenbergs, I wanted a whole plate of it by itself! Service was good, it was packed, mostly because of us, but there were a few other tables that were taken as well. The main cook, or the owner? Older German lady came to us and asked us if everything was okay and if we needed something else. But before I could ask for another plate, :) my sister's best friend started talking to the German lady in German and they conversed for at least half an hour! In German! It was quite an experience. I used to go to Blobs Park near Odenton but heard the place closed down and wasn't sure if I'd be able to eat good German food again around the area. However, after finding this place, their overall service and food was better. At the end of the day, service was good, food was excellent, and the owner was very friendly.

Love this place. Went last night and our party of 4 got the jäger schnitzel, sour beef and pork roast. All excellent. We had a few gluten free guests and the restaurant was able to accommodate them easily. The cook came out and talked to us a little, which just showed how much she cares.

If the German flag is flying, German dinner is served. Duesenberg's now does dinner Wednesday through Saturday 5:30 - 10:00 - reservations are recommended. A friend and I arrived at 6 on Friday night and were told that they could not seat us inside (most tables were full and the three empty remaining were reserved). Luckily the weather was nice and there was plenty of seating outdoors. Another thing to note - Duesenberg's does not have liquor license so it is bring your own, however, there is a liquor store just a block away if you forget. Food-wise the menu is truly traditionally German (and printed in German with handy English "subtitles"). My friend and I started with Kartoffelpuffer (potato pancakes), which were served with sour cream and apple sauce. They were hot and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I ate mine with the sour cream and the sweet/hot sauce that was on the table. For our mains we ordered the Wiener Schnitzel mit Spaetzle oder Pommes und Salat (Wiener schnitzel with homemade German egg noodles or fries and salad - we had the egg noodles) and the Schweinebraten mit Knoedel und Bohnengemuese (pork roast with dumpling and green beans). Between our potato pancakes and mains, our server brought us a plate with salad greens, lightly-pickled cabbage, potato salad, and lightly pickled carrots - all of which were delicious. The carrots were sweet, the cabbage crisp and slightly sour, and the potato salad creamy without being cloying. The Wiener Schnitzel was much better than the Schwinebraten. The pork in the Schwinebraten was dry (even though it was covered in gravy) while the pork in the Wiener Schnitzel was moist and coated in a savory yet light breading. The spaetzle served with the Wiener Schnitzel was delicately tiny while still being filling. The dumpling that accompanied the Schwinebrated was the largest dumpling I've ever seen (think of a large scoop of ice cream) but wasn't in the least bit doughy. The green beans were just ok, nothing exciting nor wrong with them. Our server was pleasant, attentive without hovering, and knowledgeable. While we were eating a tiny apron-wearing woman with a German accent came out to ask us how our food was - I assume she is the chef/owner and was very sweet. Duesenberg's definitely deserves another visit and I look forward to trying other things on the menu.
