My go to place for Asian cuisine. Always fresh, always peaceful and NEVER a let down. Best Crab Rangoon's in town!

I always recommend this place to people who haven't heard of it...I like to consider it a hidden gem. Even people who know this county like the back of their hand are surprised when you tell them that this place exists...its location is not obvious. Great casual chinese dining with a good vibe.

I just recently found out about Teariffic....can not believe I have been missing out on this place! This is the only chinese place I will eat now. The menu is healthier and the food is prepared a lot better than any other chinese restaurant. I think I could eat here every day! The dim sum is amazing as well!

One of my favorite places to bring out-of-town friends. If you go during peak hours, be prepared to wait. Their drinks are delicious. It's not too expensive, and the family that owns it is friendly (as are their employees). The decor is bright and welcoming and it's always clean. I highly highly recommend this place. I almost always order the sesame chicken, which is somehow crisp and moist at the same time. The crab rangoon is also good, and if you're looking for a fun dessert, try the sesame balls!

This little spot is hard to find, located just around the corner of Marshalls in what seems to be the ethnic hub of the area - San Souci Plaza. This cafeteria-style resto is a nice addition to the current ethnic food offerings in SOMD. Here at Teariffic, the service staff are very nice, courteous and the food was served hot, fresh and fast. The atmosphere is open, airy, clean and pleasant. Hungry for dim sum, this was the only place we could find this far out of DC. It opens at 10:30am, not typical for traditional dim sum, but this is southern Maryland after all. The dim sum offerings are good, slightly small portions and they are not made on site. I can't complain as it definitely was yummy. The tea and noodle dishes are delicious. I look forward to trying other things on the menu, especially the bubble tea!

This is the best Chinese food in the city. They do not deliver but it is still amazing.

Delicious, fresh tasting smoothies. The food and service is always great.

Great tea selection and awesome food! This place is seriously deceiving. It's located around the corner from the Famous Footwear on the backside of a strip mall. It works like a cafeteria style, where you walk in and order, then sit down and are served your food. Don't be turned off though, the food is great! We ordered some pu erh tea which is usually pretty hard to find. Especially in Southern Maryland! It was great. The food is typical Chinese selections, unless you go for some of the more traditional Chinese appetizers. These are great! We had some vegetable dumplings and shrimp and leek tarts. Both were outstanding. The food is super fresh and just so much better than any other Chinese place around.

If you're looking for a clean, made to order Chinese restaurant, this is the place for you! I eat here at least once a week if not more. I've been through the entire dim sum menu and have settled on Veggie Dumplings and Sesame Won Tons (steamed, not fried) as my favs. The occasional Black Milk Tea with Bubble too. The entire menu (dim sum and entrees) is cooked to order so sometimes if it's crowded it takes a little while for your food to be served, be patient, it's well worth the wait. The place is decorated with an earthy feel and is the cleanest restaurant in SOMD! They have a picture book at the counter of the dim sum menu. Place your order and help yourself to some plastic wear and a cup of water and find a seat/table. Your food will be on its way soon! ENJOY!

Simply fantastic. Every time I visit Southern MD I eat here. The food is as fresh as it gets. I think I've tried every Chinese place in the area, and this is right up there with the best of them, if not the very best. I've sampled quite a few dishes here such as lo mein, chow ho fun, chow mei fun, etc. All were excellent. The portion sizes are very generous. I've found the service to be very good too. If you are in the Lexington Park/Patuxent River area and like Chinese food, stop in. I think you'll find something to like here.

Teariffic will be the main thing I'll miss when I stop going to school at St. Mary's College! I go there as much as possible. It's GREAT for vegetarians like myself. Great service, great atmosphere, great prices for the amount of food you get. I HIGHLY recommend.

I live in Baltimore and I drive over 2 hours one way to eat here for one main reason - The Hong Kong Style Wonton Noodle Soup - which is the most authentic version of this soup that I have found in the entire state. I discovered this soup several years ago through a review on here by an Asian gentleman (I am Scotch-Irish...lol) who said this was exactly what he ate in Hong Kong. OMG - it is made using silky wonton wrappers with chicken and whole shrimp and baby bok choy and your choice of noodle - it is divine! I have found a few versions of this - Jumbo Seafood in Pikesville but their version, while it does have chicken and the shrimp, does not have the baby bok choy and their broth is not as flavorful and it's a dollar or two more. Chopstixx in Elkridge has their version - it is listed on their "Street Meals" menu and while it does occasionally have a scant amount of bok choy the wontons are chicken-filled only. But priced about the same as Tea-riffic and it's tasty enough as a nearby alternative. Have checked every other place but still, to date, have not found any other place with the authenticity as this little cafe. I enjoy the dim sunm and also the occasional sesame wontons BUT it is this soup and their killer frozen mocha drink the reason that I will take a four hour trip!

Best Chinese food in Southern Maryland. This place is the same price as all other Chinese restaurants, but they use fresh, white meat chicken that isn't heavily breaded and surrounded in gelatinous fat. The taste of everything is amazing, the egg fried rice is to die for, the crab ran goons are the best in the area. I eat here 3-5 times a month and I never regret it. The only negative thing I can say is that the chicken becomes dry and stringy if you re-heat it in the microwave, so it's best to eat it all in one sitting... which can be hard, because they give you plenty of food! Seriously, cannot rave on this place enough.

Great little Asian place. We fed two hungry families and decided to order a bunch of different items and share. The chicken teriyaki was delicious! General Tso chicken was good but we all agreed we would have like it better if it was just a little spicier. Orange chicken good, sesame chicken good. Fried rice was fair...we all though it lacked in flavor. Singapore curry noodle dish was yummy and by far the best thing we ordered. Springs rolls are always really good, fresh and crispy! Crab Rangoon...not so good. Wonton soup is very good, broth is flavorful. My hubby likes their spicy soup. They both have good flavor.

Very surprised by this little place! Found this place by accident when my friend and I were looking for a place to eat and the sushi restaurant was closed. i was visiting my bf in the area and, since it's in such a remote area, didn't expect much. We even laughed about the name - Tear-rific or Tea-rific? We would find out after we eat - had no idea what we were in for! My friend and I are both from HI where dim sum & asian cuisine is a way of life. And this stuff was very good and fresh! My friend, who lives in Norfolk, was very jealous that she didn't have the same quality of food in her area (quite surprising since it's a much bigger city). We enjoyed the sesame balls, siopao (buns w/red meat) and the green onion pancake thing - all fresh and yummy. Though their sizes are a bit smaller than we're accustomed to. I also had a taro bubble tea - comparable to other bubble tea places that maintain business. The service was pleasant - though a little bit different. You order your food/drinks at register before you find your own seats and pick up your own utensils, water and condiments at a central station. They also give you free fried wonton packets which are cute and yummy (try them dipping in either sweet sour sauce or soysauce & mustard mix). Though the 1st time I went they were stale. It was so good that I had my last lunch there before heading to the airport back home. This time my bf had the General Tso's chicken and I had the Chow Ho Fun house special. We each opted for the wonton soup (other option was hot & sour soup). I was glad I did! The wonton soup came with two fresh and big wontons, definitely home made just like you get in HI (and I would assume in Hong Kong). Our entrees were big portions. General Tso's chicken (came with Jasmine rice) was crispy and sweet, but not too sweet to be inedible. It was just right. The Chow Ho Fun was too "slimey" for my bf but I felt it was just right. These are the flat noodles and if you're not used to that type of noodles I can see how it can be a put off. I got the house special which meant it came with chicken, beef, and shrimp. There was only 2 shrimp in mine. I could only eat about 1/3 of it before I was stuffed. i also got another taro bubble tea. I am looking forward to going back! I do suggest they up the a/c in there and put on some music. They could also benefit from a better flow and decorations (hide the stuff in the kitchen we can see). Maybe even change the name to something that suits it - the tea menu is pretty small compared to other tea places. But the food is quite a wonderful surprise for this small unassuming place!

This place is my absolute favorite. The best Chinese around, and the greatest service. My wife and I have been going there since shortly after it opened, and we recommend it to all of our friends, and they all go and love it. The best kept secret in SOMD.

  • Bill S.

Teariffic definitely has the best Chinese food in either Calvert or St. Mary's county. Now I have had better but I had to travel to Chinatown in NYC or DC to get it and go with someone who spoke Chinese. The food is very fresh and you can taste it. Also MUCH less greasy than other Chinese take-out in the area. As noted in other reviews yes the "fried" rice is not what you might expect but still tasty. Only been here 3x but we ordered something different each time and all were equally great. The staff is friendly and will take the time to answer just about any question you have regarding the food, ingredients, etc. My wife has a meat allergy and she was pleasantly surprised to find out that the won-ton soup was all chicken based and contained no pork; unlike other places. Portions were good sized and prices reasonable. Best crab rangoon and singapore curry noodles around.

We've eaten here many times and always loved the food - that's not the problem. Yesterday we stopped there to get an application for my teenage daughter. My African American fiance went in to get it. They apparently thought she wanted the app, and refused to give her one, BECAUSE SHE IS BLACK!! The woman was quite blunt about it. My fiance was stunned, and said that she is a teacher - the woman said, "Oh. Still no!." We will NEVER go there again - IMHO they should be called the Horrific Cafe.

Teariffic is delicious! I usually only go here for the tea (specially the milk tea with tapicoa balls), but the food is very good too. The Chinese food here is a nice change the usually iffy Chinese food in the area. It is sort of a hidden gem, located right before Famous Footwear, which is next to Marshalls in the San Souci shopping center.

I am not a Chinese food expert at all. I can say, however that the food at Teariffic is fresh! Which is NOT always the case with Chinese food down here. I also think it tastes very good! As far as the measly choices in this area, I really think this is a great choice.

Love this place! Ya the fried rice doesnt seem fried but it is still yummy. I actually dont feel as quilty when I eat here compared to other greasy chinese places. Only place we will eat at in this area. Glad we found it.

Healthy Chinese; It does exist! Great for the local military trying to watch their weight (trust me) and it only lost a star because the cost of being healthy is a little flavor. GTsos is not bad...

  • Tamika H.

We got the sesame chicken and general tso chicken it was ok. I'm upset because their shrimp FRIED rice was not FRIED it was white rice with shrimp and vegetables, after I asked for no vegetables just rice, egg, and shrimp. Please people listen and follow directions when I'm paying!

    (2)
  • Catrina G.

The best Chinese I have found around here, but as the others I have tried were quite bad, that isn't saying too much. Good portions at reasonable prices. However, they don't serve any alcohol, which is a drawback for social outings, and it is clean, but the atmosphere lacks excitement, and doesn't really encourage long stays. Worth it if you have a hankering for Chinese food, but I would take out instead of dining in.

    (3)
  • David F.

The ingredients are more fresh here than most places in southern Maryland. They steam their veggies rather than drench them in butter. Good for lunch or dinner. If you're in the area, this is the Place to go for great tasting, health conscious Asian food!

    (4)
  • Steve R.

Food is awesome, probably best quality Chinese food in town. If you want Chinese, but don't want the buffet and aren't too crazy about carry-out, this place is for you.

  • David W.

Excellent food and excellent service. Food is not too oily. Food is consistent and delicious. I highly recommend the beef lo mein.

    (5)
  • Erin J.

This is probably the best chinese food in the area. That being said, when I asked the server how they made their dumplings, she said they came out of the freezer. So, they're probably in the same ballpark as most other chinese food places. Nothing too incredible. That being said, this is a great place to get dinner after work with some coworkers. Love it.

  • Shao T.

I love this place. It may not be "fast food", but I grab food from here whenever I don't feel like cooking. The Egg Fried Rice and General Tso's Chicken are my go-to with the Roast Pork Buns and Jasmine Iced Tea. The Crab Rangoon is also to die for... I will say this...the rice isn't traditional take out "Fried Rice": Yellow/Orange/Brown coloration with an obviously fried taste to it. I think they steam all the ingredients, then run it through a wok just long enough to heat it up and serve it. As I said...this place is just freaking awesome and if you ever get the chance to go in, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

  • Ingrid K.

Food was great, self-serve water tasted as though it came out of the tap... so I'd suggest buying bottled water instead. Packed with people at lunch. Staff was friendly and the food arrived quickly. Hard to see from the road, it's directly behind Thai Inter and Famous Footwear.

  • Derek C.

This is the best Asian food in the area. Everything that I've ordered has been outstanding. My favorite is the Mei Fun. This is definitely worth going out of your way to eat. I drive past several Chinese restaurants on my way here, simply because they are the best. Their customer service is fantastic too.

    (5)
  • Keri C.

This is a hidden treasure. The menu offers healthier alternatives and I love the tea selection. The staff was friendly and I very much enjoyed my dinner. Egg drop soup, and vegetable potstickers were quite tasty. The crab rangoon the best I've had out and the general tso chicken was quite nice. I recommend this place and I look forward to returning.

This place is great. They make amazing fruit smoothies or if you want food you can't go wrong. Everything I've had there was very fresh and flavorful. They make the best asian food in St Mary's county. This is not your normal asian carry out. My only complaint is that there menu is smaller than most Chinese food carry outs. But that is just me wanting more of their great food. Servise is pleasant and the atmosphere is nice.

Ate here while in the area on business. Food was delicious and decently priced. Portions were large, but not large enough to make you feel ill when finished. Asked for my orange chicken to be extra spicy, but it was not very spicy at all. Also got a tea, but that part of my order was forgotten. After alerting them to the issue, they brought me the wrong tea. All in all, a solid choice for Asian cuisine.

First off you have to understand that this restaurant is not in China so it is not authentic. This is an americanized version like most other Asian restaurants in this country. Having said that, being that it is in southern Maryland it is very good Chinese, probably the best I have had in this area. Give it a try and you will like it unless you are comparing it to your trip to China!!

Such a great place to eat. Super clean! The food was so amazingly fresh. The owner was very sweet and the girl who took our order was very polite. There was a mistake made on our bill and they caught it and fixed it before we even knew something was wrong. Delicious smoothies as well. Definitely worth a trip...or 10

This was a little hard to find, but it was on the side of the building by Foot Locker. Well I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! :D My husband can't stand Chinese food because it hurts his stomach, but this doesn't! He loves this place! We ea there at least one a month and have loved every thing we have gotten there! Our baby is a big fan as well! :D

I love their bubble teas but often when i walk in there is a very displeasing smell.. Enough to make me get it to go. Otherwise the design of the cafe is great and very modern. Also have tried some of their tofu options and was pleased.. Nothing outstanding but its average in the realm of Chinese food you get around here.

Really good! I have only been here once and the orange chicken was the best i have ever tasted, nice and crispy. The starters were also terrific, the sesame wantons were unusual at first but were nice and flavorfull, the spring rolls were not very plentiful (there was only 2) but considering the price were a good deal. Overall i would love to come back here!

A little tricky to find, but I'm glad I found it. It's on the left side of the big shoe store if you're having trouble finding it. I ordered the Oolong Tea, Shrimp Dumplings and Beef Fried Rice. Their fried rice is probably one of the best I've eaten in a long time. Although I'm curious to how the pineapple one would taste as it is a very Chinese fried rice and not Thai, which is the usually pineapple fried rice. Regardless, I definitely will be coming back if just for the fried rice. The dimsum was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. It's a little on the pricey side so I probably wouldn't get them again. The tea was good and hot, but not strong enough for my taste. I always get hot tea at restaurants so this place is no different. I really like how relaxed it environment is, and all of the staff is really nice once you get them talking. My only gripe with this place would have to be the portion size. I am aware they went through a recent price increase, so the priced may have been great before. I will definitely visit this place the next time I'm hungry and in the area. I will try out their meat entrees next or maybe a noodle dish. Who knows, I might just do both, and the fried rice! I liked it that much!

Cute restaurant on the inside, but there was nothing about the food that made it different from any other Chinese restaurant found in the U.S. In addition to the food, I ordered jasmine green tea (cold) with tapioca pearls. I've had better. 1.) Usually jasmine tea hits me with a strong taste, but the one I had was quite bland, and 2.) it wasn't that cold. Boo-hoo, I know. But if you're going to title yourself as "unique" on your front window, your customers should receive an experience you perceive yourself to be among entering your restaurant. Thanks for the free wifi though!

What would I do without yelp? I definitely wouldn't have experienced this hidden (literally) gem. I'd been craving Chinese for a couple of days now, and the reviews were amazing so I had to try it. Good stuff! I got the general tso dinner combo with wonton soup and veggie spring roll. My order was ready in less than 5 mins. The server was super friendly. Portion was huge. I'll probably have enough leftover for lunch tomorrow. Heads up tho, trying to find this place with my gps was a fail. It's located directly behind famous footwear.

Not that it was bad just not one of my favorites. The crab Rangoon were good but the Scallion pancakes were really greasy.

Nestled into a corner behind Famous Footwear, it's easy to miss this exceptional restaurant. Everything's good, but don't be surprised if you end up chatting over tea for hours and have racked up a $30 per person check with all the side dishes, buns, and desserts you kept ordering through the afternoon. I recommend Chow Ho Fun and steamed vegetable dumplings (which are Vegan).

Overall, my impression is that is ye olde Chinese food spot in the Lexington Park area. No surprises here. Food: I ordered the Singapore Mei Fun and found it to be tasty and of a good quantity. Just some good average Chinese food. Atmosphere: Definitely leaves something to be desired, just some basic table and chairs. Seems clean at least, but not somewhere to bring a date. Price: Based on the quantity and quality of the food, I felt the $6.99 price-tag for my meal was very fair. Service: Since the service is comprised of ordering the meal at the cash register, there isn't much to rate. But the cashier and staff were at the very least respectful and attentive.

So this review is mixed because my husband won't write his own. His: 5 -star - he LOVES the General Tso's here. We met in St. Louis, MO and lived 5 minutes to about 20 Chinese places (not kidding), he always said while they were good they didn't compare to Teariffic. Now, that's all he ever gets so he can't speak to any other dish on the menu. (except mine see note) :) Mine: 3-star: I really like the atmosphere and we had a good time. I couldn't eat my Sesame Chicken so my husband ate most of it. My husband said what he ate of mine wasn't very good either. I've had a lot of sesame chicken and this was the first I couldn't eat - it was slimy even though I got the fried. I kinda think it had to be a one time thing cuz the guy with us got fried (not sesame though) chicken and he loved his too. I also had their coconut boboa tea and it was waaay sweet :( I plan on going back mainly because my husband loves this place and I'm hopeful for a better experience.

This is by far the biggest thing I miss about St. Mary's area. I used to come here multiple times a week :( Smoothies are amazing, my go-to is the passion fruit or the passion fruit mixed with mango, strawberry, and taro are good too. Add bubbles or the jelly pieces! They have excellent lunch and dinner combinations so I always take advantage of that. Crab ragoon is fantastic, not too much oil, a very light and fresh frying as is everything in this place. Hot and sour and wonton soup is very solid as well. The hot and spicy chicken is sautéed in a spicy sauce, that is neither too thick nor too spicy comes with peppers, onions, and broccoli too. I'm extra picky about rice and this place nails it. Sesame chicken, shrimp lo mein, and sweet snd sour chicken are all solid choices. Plus it's family run, the staff is super friendly. They have everything you could ever need set up: water, soy sauce, mustard, etc. My only complaint is the hours are weird. They close at 730 some nights and 830 others. Also they are not open on Sunday's and any day even close to a holiday they will have limited hours. If you get there at 8, you won't be able to sit staff will tell you carry out only. I feel they should really consider opening till 930 especially on Friday and Saturday nights.

  • G.M T.

We got here around 755pm. Their business hours posted on their door says they closes at 830pm. We came in and they told us only take home orders only since they closes at 830 and their kitchen is close already. We still ordered and took it home. Food was OK. It wasn't the greatest. We had the beef soup with egg noodles and the beef they used is cheap. Same beef they use for beef & broccoli. I'm used to the soft corned beef type with tendons. Anyways, I would give another try. Maybe it was just one of those not so good nights.

This is my go-to for Chinese. The Korean Bbq beef is really good. My wife recommends the beef cho-ho-fun. Never had anything bad here.

It's what I'd call "Americanized Asian." But it's a pretty good overall product. The Singaporean Mei Fan is actually really good, a few of the other dishes fall a little short though. My girlfriend and I ordered the Fried Pork Chop and General Tso Chicken to go once and they were both pretty disappointing. But when I've eaten there the food has been pretty solid. My advise would be to stick to the noodle dishes and dine in.

  • Art C.

Seriously the best Chinese food. Everything was great- service and food. Had the Singapore noodles and four different dim sum dishes. Highly recommend the steam bbq pork buns, and they rival anything I've had in NYC or DC. They also seem to do a brisk Carryout business, so you can order ahead and pick up if you're in a hurry.

    (5)

Excellent food and excellent service. Food is not too oily. Food is consistent and delicious. I highly recommend the beef lo mein.

Pretty disappointed about both the quality of food and the prices. I ordered the general tso's shrimp, which was undeservedly priced at $10 for the meager amount of (slimey!) deep fried shrimp that I received. The sauce was super sweet and goopy- almost unpalatable. My friends ordered fried rice - definitely looked like it wasn't made fresh and the veggies could've been right out of one of those steam-in-the-microwave bags. One of their dishes came with nearly raw, very pink chicken. Super gross. My other friend's noodle dish seemed to be decent. I guess what sealed the deal that I won't be returning (without some serious convincing...) is that the tea I ordered was overpriced for a small cup and... over-steeped! Isn't tea their whole shtick? I don't know. Maybe I came on a really off night. I don't want to hate on small local restaurants; I know how critical they are in this area. All in all, I'm rooting for you, Teariffic... please do better.

I stopped by for lunch after finding this place on yelp. I ordered the chicken fried rice and sat down. The service was good and the food was fresh. For the amount of food the prices are fair. There aren't too many choices in the area so I was happy that this place was good.

    (3)
  • Micah B.

I ordered take out, so I can only speak to the food, not the ambiance. I got the chicken wonton soup, crab wontons, and sesame chicken, all of which were VERY good! I gulped down the soup and ate the wontons much faster than is probably normal, but they were too good to stop eating! Even the next day, my leftovers were fantastic. I'll definitely be eating here again!

I think I'm done with this place. My wife and I stopped in for lunch and had sweet and sour chicken and General Tso Chicken. Both white meat dishes which sounds good, but the sweet and sour is very small pieces with significant breading and the General Tso Chicken is a much lighter coating of breading but the chicken was tough and chewy. Maybe this isn't even considered breaded, but there did seem to be a dusting of flour or something on the pieces. I have gone here several times and because of their reputation, I expect to like it more. But I'm always disappointed. I'm don't know how authentic it is, and I really don't care as long as it looks and tastes good. But really it was neither. The Sweet and sour is served as fried bites with a side of red sauce in a styrofoam cup. The General Tso Chicken is served in the sauce which had a sticky, stringy consistency. Another aspect of this restaurant I don't like is the lack of flexibility. The lunch specials are served w/ white rice and wonton or hot n' sour soup. Egg Drop Soup is $1.98 as a side item on the menu, exactly the same price as the other soups. But to substitute Egg Drop soup was $1.98, the same price as a unique order. I ate the wonton soup and despite the great ratings, I wasn't thrilled with the hard pieces of ground dark chicken in the wontons. Side of Teriyaki sauce, $1.35. Everything else is in packets on the condiment counter. I'll wait and go to Pei Wei when I get the urge for Chinese food that is freshly made, has a nicer appearance and better flavor. Locally I've enjoyed Golden Chicken or Laughing Buddha more than this.

Not sure about all these posts. Not impressed at all. Its ok but nothing special. I like that there is no waitresses but if you havent seen the menu yet its alot to take in while others pile in behind you making you feel pressured to choose or fall back in line. Food isnt worth it for me.

Nice laid back place to eat. Interesting setup. You order your food, pay, then take a seat. They have a table set up with all the sauces and utensils. They have a good range of finds in their menu, so it's good for groups since everyone should be able to find something to eat. Shrimp Lo Mein and Chicken Lo Mein were very good. General Tso's chicken was ok. They have great dinner specials starting after 4:30pm.

I had high hopes for this place when I walked in because I heard them speaking Cantonese (my mother tongue), but they ended up being a huge disappointment. Maybe it's because I grew up eating good Chinese or because I'm a Californian and I can cook it, but their food is very mediocre. The sauces taste like they're from a bottle (Americanized bottle). Their boba tea wasn't very good either. They're like Maryland's bastard version of Tapioca Express with the drinks. I don't understand the high ratings they've received from others, but I assume it's because "ya'll don't know any better." You won't die from eating their food, but my boyfriend and I most definitely won't be going back to get our Chinese fix.

I eat from here a few time a month. I normally do take out. This place has the best Chinese food and the area. I love how fresh the food taste and its has things that are not typical for the area. You must try!

I've been here a few times now and frankly I'm not convinced. This is the most expensive "Chinese" restaurant in the area, and yet Yelp has it as a single dollar sign. We have eaten in several times and spend more than we would in Charlotte Hall at Beijing Cafe or Solomons at Laughing Buddha and come away with no takeout for the next day. I have tried several of the chicken dishes and they seem to all be the same. Fried chicken pieces with a very sticky sweet sauce, subtly modified for the dish at hand (sesame, sweet and sour, etc.). The broccoli is good, though. And, the "fried" rice, well, yeah. It's different but honestly all the fried rice in Maryland has thus far left me wanting compared to California/Arizona. Guess I'll just have to get used to it. They also don't have a soda fountain...or silverware...or typical American style sweet and sour sauce. My girlfriend likes this place because of their Dim Sum (shu mai, leek cakes). She does not however enjoy the crab rangoon. They have too much filler and not enough actual crab meat.

  • James S.

I haven't had decent Chinese food in a while so I was happy to find this on Yelp while I was in the area. I had just about given up trying to find it when I noticed it tucked away in the back corner of the strip mall. I had the fried rice, which was rich but a little greasy, an order of spring rolls that were perfectly crisp, and a very nice wonton soup. I also got a pot of black tea which was very good for a cool fall day. They have a nice variety on their menu. The experience is kind of weird, I walked in and just stood there, a girl behind the counter stared at me, she didn't ask if she could help me. I finally had to ask if I sit down or what and the guy working said that you order and then sit. That aside, the service was fine. I would go back if I were in the area again.

NOT FOR VEGANS OR PEOPLE WITH FOOD SENSITIVITY I really hate to write a bad review, but this place made both my wife and me immediately ill from overuse of MSG and cross contamination of vegetarian food with meat (probably pork.) My wife cannot eat any meat with red blood such as pork or beef due to a tick borne illness she's had for thirty years. She gets ill if food is cross contaminated with these two meats. Extreme MSG symptoms include nausea, headache, weakness, diarrhea, fast heart beat, sweating etc. Normally, I don't have a reaction to MSG, but there was so much in our brown sauce (we got with vegetables and tofu) that I can still taste it an hour later. My head aches. My wife is absolutely miserable in the bathroom right now. (I'm not making this up.) First, the positive. Very nice staff. Cheery. Phone ringing off the hook for pick up. The location is not great and still half the tables were full. This speaks well of the place. In addition, the food looked wonderful. Vegetables fresh. Spring rolls were good. Food very hot and fresh. The water was ice cold too which we liked. The food is cheap, very cheap. This is the only reason I did not give the place one star. Check all my other five star reviews on restaurants. I only write when I feel strongly. The bad on the food. Taste of the brown sauce wasn't there. Not even soy sauce could save it. Tofu was spongy. Tea was pretty good, but not the best we've ever had. Not strong enough. Dumplings looked great, tasted flat and dull. They had green dyed color to them. We didn't have any of their meat dishes so those may be better. Methinks if you are a foodie they won't be up to your standards. Strangely, this is a tea / Chinese / smoothie shop. We didn't try the smoothies, but they use a blender that is so loud you have to raise your voice to talk over it. My wife's immediate headache from MSG was worse when the smoothie making blender was on. I'm not going to return to this place for a second shot. Most of the time I'd do that. We don't tolerate getting sick after eating and the food ain't as good as it looks. If you have food sensitivities I'd think twice about eating here. Post Script: We found a remedy website for MSG poisoning and followed the Cream of Tartar remedy which immediately relieved our symptoms. Half tablespoon mixed with a cup of water did the trick. We will keep Cream of Tartar around from now on.

This is probably the best chinese food in the area. That being said, when I asked the server how they made their dumplings, she said they came out of the freezer. So, they're probably in the same ballpark as most other chinese food places. Nothing too incredible. That being said, this is a great place to get dinner after work with some coworkers. Love it.

Teariffic is good, but not worth going out of your way for. The service is fantastic, and I bet they do great delivery. The food, however, was a little too bland for my tastes. I had the General Tso's Chicken, and unfortunately my tastebuds only started to wake up when I added a ton of Sriracha to it. Don't get me wrong, I'm as much in favor as the next guy of using food as a Sriracha delivery vehicle, but I don't think that should be its primary purpose. My review may also have been colored by the fact that the night before, I had a fantastic meal at Bollywood Masala. Teariffic does seem to be the best Chinese place around, so if you're looking for a little variety, it's a solid option.

Healthy Chinese; It does exist! Great for the local military trying to watch their weight (trust me) and it only lost a star because the cost of being healthy is a little flavor. GTsos is not bad...

Food was great, self-serve water tasted as though it came out of the tap... so I'd suggest buying bottled water instead. Packed with people at lunch. Staff was friendly and the food arrived quickly. Hard to see from the road, it's directly behind Thai Inter and Famous Footwear.

This is the best Asian food in the area. Everything that I've ordered has been outstanding. My favorite is the Mei Fun. This is definitely worth going out of your way to eat. This is a hidden treasure. The menu offers healthier alternatives and I love the tea selection. The staff was friendly and I very much enjoyed my dinner.

My go to Asian place in Southern Maryland. It's not your authentic Asian, but it's made-to-order, fresh and healthy!!!

Good food, but you will leave hungry and tempted to stop at Taco Bell on the way out.

Not sure about all these posts. Not impressed at all. Its ok but nothing special. I like that there is no waitresses but if you havent seen the menu yet its alot to take in while others pile in behind you making you feel pressured to choose or fall back in line. Food isnt worth it for me.

Only Bubble/Boba tea in the area! Yummy dim sum! We love to order dim sum because of the tiny orders and good selection. So fun!

The food here is excellent! Some of the best Chinese food I have had anywhere. The staff are also incredibly nice. I had the Singapore Noodles, which really hit the spot.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
