When it comes to ordering pizza, this is one place on my very short list of places to go. The pizza is big and is delicious! I'm not big on pasta and your typical Italian cuisine, so I can't comment on that. The last time I was in, I felt absolutely famished. We ordered a 14" pizza, but I knew that wouldn't be enough for me, so I asked what is your favorite side item. Without hesitation they guy blurted out the Bacon Cheddar Fries, so I got a side of that and boy, I can see why he didn't hesitate to suggest that. I loved loaded fries because I love bar food and they were some of the best I've had. The cheese was amazing and the fries are right up there with Five Guys and that's not something I say lightly. So, when it comes to getting pizza, don't go to the national chains, buy local and you will not be sorry.

The side salad was completely forgettable, but their Tuscany Ravioli (stuffed with mushrooms) was outstanding. Good service, clean dining room.

I just came home from orderdering takeout. It was really good. Better than what was expected. We ordered Chicken Chesapeake, medium New York Style Pizza, another entree with shrimp, scallops crabmeat in a pink cream sauce (cant remember the exact name of it). My husband, who is very picky and not that fond of italian food even commented on how good the chicken chesapeake was. The staff was extra friendly and even carried my order to the car.

My wife and i decided to try this place since it recently opened up. It has the italian theme going on inside with grapes hanging off the pergola. We started our meal with an appetizer called the Shrimp Gondola which consisted of 4 slices of toasted brushetta bread topped with shrimp in a lemon garlic sauce. We both thought it was good. I ordered the Fettuccine Mediterraneo which came with shrimp, crabmeat, and scallops in a pink cream sauce. I enjoyed the big dish of pasta as it came with lots of the seafood. My wife ordered the Smoked Salmon Penne which consisted of lots salmon. It was very flavorful. We had to bring home doggy bags so we could split dessert. the cannoli was forgettable. The desserts were suppose to be homemade but we dont think it was. Be aware that they dont have waiters and you must go up to the counter to order and you must go to the fountain to get your own drinks. I would return again and bring friends.

Went to this place for the first time today with my parents & siblings. Wasn't really looking forward to it since I'm not a big fan of Italian food. But I still enjoyed it for the most part. We were a little confused at first because we weren't sure if we had to seat ourselves or not. And I can't speak on the Italian dishes since I just had a steak & cheese. But it was good and fulfilling. Their fries are not the best though. And three other people with me shared the NY style pizza and there was still some left over. And I appreciated that people still came around to check on you and whatnot.

Have been numerous times. I found "my thing"... the mushroom ravioli's. TO. DIE. FOR!!! Comes with salad and bread. Get the house dressing (it's one of the best balsamic's I've ever had). Inexpensive, especially for the heap of food you get. Will continue to go back time-and-time again. This place is a great find and soooooo much better than any chain Italian restaurant.

I am in love with this place after going for the first time today. I had the lemon shrimp pasta lunch, my friend had the sausage and pepper sub, and I don't know if it was the olive oil they used, the generous helping of fresh garlic, the perfectly cooked pasta, perfectly cooked shrimp, or what, but they killed it!!!! Nothing was overpowering at all, despite the intense lemony (but not at all sour) of the dish. That dish was amazing, and my friend said that his food was excellent. The guy who runs it, or was running it this afternoon, is Italian, which I guess I didn't expect here in Southern Maryland. Shame on me for my closed-mindedness. This place is EXCELLENT.

The service was good. The food was ok. The pizza is very greasy and hard. The lasagna is not that good. The best thing was the baked ziti. It was very flavorful and delicious. If I go back it will be for the ziti only

Came here for a birthday party and enjoyed the hot new york style pizza, mozzarella sticks, and calamari. I especially enjoyed the white pizza.

Absolutely FANTASTIC. Extremely fast service, wonderful wonderful wonderful food, very friendly staff. We can't wait to go back to try the pizza!

I've been here twice now and while it isn't Pasta Mia, it is very good Italian dining. The price is right, the atmosphere is quaint and the service is commendable. If you are bringing children, bring an activity. While there is plenty to see and the restaurant is family friendly they don't have a children's menu to color.

What can I say? This place is great. The food is soooooo good!! My favorite...lobster ravioli!

Rejoice! A good, non-chain restaurant in SoMD. My husband and I frequent the shiny new Brandywine Crossing shopping center and had been wanting to try some of the new eateries there as well. We stopped in to Mamma Romas on a Friday for lunch and were shocked to see what a following it already had. The place was pretty busy and the line was back to the door. We got through the line at a frustration-free pace but we were still kicking ourselves for bad timing - you know, when you arrive the line is back to the door but after you finish ordering and turn around, nobody has come in since? Just our luck! We ordered a pizza from the very friendly guy behind the counter and just assumed we'd be waiting a while because for one, we were at the back of the line and for two, it was a pizza. Not the case at all. Our pizza arrived in about 10 minutes and we were happily on our way to full tummies. The medium NY Style pizza was enough for my husband and I to share with leftovers. They also offer a Sicilian style square thick pizza which was intimidatingly large. I saw a couple people attempt these but most boxed up over half the pie. I wasn't blown away by the pizza by any means, but it was tasty and fulfilling. Reasonably priced, as well. I've decided this is my favorite kind of restaurant style because when I'm in charge of my drink refills, I'm a happy camper. There are no moments of rationing my drink because I know my server will never be back or pouty faces when the cup is empty - I just get up and refill when I need to. You do also get attention in the dining area here. At separate times, someone asked if we needed anything else, if we were doing okay, and cleared our table. Friendly, clean, and quick - we will definitely return!

Food was bland and lacked flavor. I was pretty disappointed. The crust on the calzone was almost impossible to cut threw. The caprese penne wasn't too impressive. The portion sizes are large though. The staff is also very friendly.

These guys do the Italians proud. I love their pizza and they have a station for toppings like oregano to peppers. Great shopping center to be in. Go shop go to movies and have dinner here

    (5)
  • J B.

The staff was courteous and the dining area was clean. The food was terrible the veal was tough the sauce was bland. The chef was apologetic and offered to do another meal but I couldn't or wouldn't finish eating the disaster that was placed before me to eat. Maybe I came at a bad time but I have had better microwave dinners than the meal I was served there.

  • Kim B.

Everything my husband and I have tried here has been delicious. Hubby's favorite is the fettuccine mediterraneo and I love the lobster ravioli. Pizzas and subs are also great. Service is always fast and courteous and the owner is usually around to give you a warm greeting. I would eat here every night if I could.

Dear manager, Your prices are too low. Your servers must be giving away free food because the portions were unbelievable. All jokes aside, the food tasted great and exceeded our expectations. Ordering at the counter is a bit different but is very efficient. 5 stars well-earned. Servers were all pleasant as hell. We are plotting to return soon!

Excellent place! Food here is awesome and the service was more than great. Staff is consistent on everything and it's nice the setup. The interior is nice and they have you choose where you want to sit and you order at the window. They hand you your drinks there and a number to place on your table. They bring your food to you and I was really pleased with the taste. I got the veal Parmesan to be safe and the sauce was really good, seasoned perfectly and they give you a good portion. The regular bread they give you was bland but ok, I was too full from my plate to really care. Food arrived fast, I'd recommend this place to anyone who likes good Italian food. Also FYI prices are moderate but depends what you order and what time you go.

Went here a few days ago. Decided to check it out since I heard so much about it. I ordered the calamari and a cheese calzone. Both tasted very good and came out in an aesthetically pleasing manner. Items in the menu are mainly within in the $8-$14 range. My friend ordered pizza but didn't care for it and sent it back. The manager was also very nice and offered to remake the pizza.Crust was thick but everything looked fresh. My other friend ordered a pasta dish with shrimp crab and lobster. Even though I do not eat seafood, I must say it looked really good and I saw a lot of large shrimp in the dish. I would definitely come again.

We have eaten here many times. Its close to home and with the friendly staff, clean place and good food it is a no brainer to come in. Today, it was pretty busy (high school graduation parties) but we were able to order and get a seat pretty quickly. Husband ordered a Corona with lime. Except we were told they had no lime (and never carry it) What? That seems very strange to me. We ordered the Bacon Cheddar Fries with sour cream. Um, no sour cream the boy says. I said with a Safeway right behind you someone easily could've walked over and gotten limes and sour cream. (I was seriously tempted to get the limes and sour cream myself but that would violate their "No outside food" policy) The rest of our order was a Personal Pizza and a Steak & Cheese sub. Our food arrived within 15minutes. The fries were good. The personal pizza was crusty on the bottom and just the right balance of sauce and cheese. The sub was full of meat and cheese with plenty of veggies. All in all it was another great meal. Just wish they had sour cream and some limes. Maybe next time...

Well guess I should start out with the good. The place is very nice ample area for tables and booths. The staff was very nice!! The plain sauce was very good. Thete seating and ordering are do it yourself. Getting something to drink for the person I was waiting for became far more than I really was up for but had dark shirt on and an outdoor coat to where while eating so I guess it was not that bad having to wear my dinner companions drink. After that issue then we had to go up to counter for a second time to place food order. Hmm this should have provided me all together 4 receipts, however I got none. 2 drink sodas 2 meals. The plain sauce surrounding my meal was very good. The only eatable thing as far as I am concerned. The meat was very much texture and flavor of Taco Bell meat with pink slime. I am kind of found of my salad with dressing but the olives juice more than made up for any good taste I might have found in salad. If they have deserts I will never know as I was not going up to counter for a third time to pay. I am fond of paying at the end of meal could even understand after ordering each item I guess, but not having to take all my belongings through dinning room again and have no place to sit anything while trying to get money out. Was unsure about getting water or another soda as the first time was so wet and did not want to make another trip with coat bag etc again. The young men whom bring food to table are very nice very pleasant.

We come here all the time. The only real Italian food in the area, in my opinion. I'm a Jersey girl and had been missing real Italian food. I usually take out. My favorites are the Greek salad with chicken, linguini with shrimp and crab meat in rose sauce, and they have THE best pizza. The manager is very nice. Staff is friendly and attentive.

Wonderful Italian food! I had Penne and the noodles were cooked to a perfect al dente. The appetizer of bruschetta was very good, lots of tomatoes and basil. The desert of tiramisu was excellent. It was a little odd to order at the counter, but I'd go back for that great food. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Hubby was stationed in Sicily and says this is the BEST Italian he's had since he left Italy! Fabulous food, fresh ingredients and a great family atmosphere.

This is my favorite restaurant. The pizza is fantastic! Thin and crunchy crust with fresh sauce and great cheese. The lobster ravioli is the real deal. It has a ton of lobster and not a ton of filling. It's topped with crab meat and it is the best ravioli you'll ever eat. The eggplant Parmesan is not deep fried and greasy like most places. It's generously portioned and served with a lot of spaghetti. The bread is a guilty pleasure, I love the tiramisu. The caesar salad is great. The regular side salad isn't the best but it's complimentary so I can't complain!! Check this place out! Oh and Bruno is the nicest guy ever! He remembers his regulars and greets you with kindness!

I'm not sure why people are raving about this place. I'm Italian and this was not great Italian food, it was just ok. Their Greek salad lacks the usual Greek salad ingredients. The lasagna was just ok. The Stromboli was fair. I would not recommend this place and we will not return.

My favorite pizza in southern Maryland. I grew up in New Jersey on local Mom-and-Pop pizza - this place is as good as any place I've had. I especially like the sausage - spicy. I drive 45 min to eat here.

Subs are good. The bread is fresh. Kids spaghetti is the perfect amount. Love Love the pasta and pizza. Everything we eat here is delish!

The worlds best meatballs!! The sauce is perfection with the appropriate balance of spices...it's fresh and it shows

Food was excellent, restaurant is very clean, I will definitely go back! We had lunch but I can't wait to go back for dinner. The only caveat is that you have to order at the counter and for dinner it would be nice to have servers.

Great food...a lot of food...price just right! Locally owned. We brought friends who were visiting from Florida, and the Chicken Piccata was the hit of their visit...said it was the best he's ever had.

Excellent little spot...having traveled to Italy before, I found this little gem a welcome relief from the usual restaurants in SOMD. Get the cheese bread

I have tasted almost everything on the menu of Mama Roma by now and the Lasagna, Pizza, Marsala, Chicken Parmigiana, Linguine with Mussels are 5 way tie score. Just really GREAT AUTHENTIC FOOD AND THE KINDEST PEOPLE. I lived in Italy for just two year but what a way to taste a bit of Italia at home in America.

Has become a family favorite! After being recommended by dozens of my father's friends, he decided to bring a sausage pizza home. As a fan of thin crust and flavorful toppings, I was immensely impressed. I have yet to veiw the inside of the establishment but I've heard great reviews of that as well. Can't wait to come back!

I stumbled on to this little place while waiting for a movie in Brandywine. When you first enter the establishment there will most likely be a line, as it is a popular restaurant. To some placing your order at a counter and filling up your own fountain drink will set the stage for a meal with something left to be desired, but not here. My food was delivered by a very friendly waiter, who provided everything my girlfriend and I needed to enjoy our meal. Out entire visit was pleasant in regards to service. No complaints. Prepare yourself for a food coma. The portions are HUGE, which one would expect for the semi-expensive price (about $20 a plate). Every visit I have been able to enjoy Moma Roma the next day for lunch, which I always look forward too. My personal favorite is the chicken Marsala and I am anxious to try a pizza because of many great reviews. The owner of the establishment makes his prescience known throughout your visit, but not in an annoying or overbearing way. I believe his name was Bruno (I could be wrong). He was EXTREMELY kind to my date and I. Very personable, which I thought was a great addition to our night out. This is my go-to Italian joint near Waldorf.

After a weekend of failed restaurant ventures, this was by far the bottom of the barrel. I appreciate unique styles of restaurants, but charging pretty high prices for food that you order at a counter and then is brought to your table without waiter service is weird. Furthermore they ask for a tip, which I'm not sure who I'm tipping or why, but it certainly feels like a lazy and unappealing way to do dinner. Especially after paying $20 for an entree and then drinking a fountain soda from a plastic cup. The veal marsala was easily the worst I've ever had. All grease, some weird veal demi stuff, and NO marsala whatsoever. All I can really say is the owner, please, please take this advice. Taste your food. Ask yourself, would your grandmother eat this? From one chef to another, you should be ashamed.

    (1)
  • Lady H.

Wow, the pizza and lasagna! You can tell that the owner has really put his heart and soul in to this food. It's really hard to stand out being an Italian Restaurant in a strip mall but OMG. Talk about diamond in the ruff. I wish I didn't have to watch my figure because I would eat an entire pizza pie to myself.

    (5)
  • Phil Z.

I'm basing this review on one uncommon experience, i.e., my wife brought home a Sicilian pizza. So I've not actually been to the restaurant yet. However, this was the best pizza I've ever eaten in the Southern Maryland area (I've lived here 39 years). Remember though, it was Sicilian style, and that's what I prefer. Dare I compare it to New York Sicilian? Honestly, I've had worse Sicilian in New York, and also better. But given the location, I definitely recommend you give this place a try.

  • Mo A.

Dear Bruno R., Thank you for responding to my review. I appreciate you standing up for your staff and restaurant so I'd like to take the high road and maintain some civility with this exchange. That being said, it's important for you to know that owners (and yelpers in general) can contact other yelpers privately to discuss any issues they may have. The private message feature is important because there's a long list of owners who have publicly commented on other people's reviews only to make themselves and ultimately their business look horrible. I'm pretty sure that's not your intent. I do want to respond to a few of your points. The whole argument of what a chain is seems petty and irrelevant. In the interest of accuracy though, your business website ( mammaromas.com ) lists multiple locations in the Southern Maryland area under the same name run by the same family and using the same menu. Nobody is mistaking Mamma Roma's for Olive Garden, I was just pointing out that there's more than one location in the local DC area. The way staff are trained and how they actually perform are two different things. When I was at your restaurant, I got my utensils and drinks myself. My pizza was delivered to my table but my dining partner's meal was not. Aside from delivering the pizza and bringing a takeout box, that was the extent of our waiter service. I'm a customer so I don't know how you want your business to run but I can tell you how things went when I was there. I'm sorry that it frustrates you but that's something to address with your staff. Maybe one day I'll take you up on your offer Chef Bruno. I wish your business much success in the future! P.S. As many of the folks who read my reviews can attest to, whenever the headline is "Interesting Dating Experiences", most people are not paying much attention to where or what I ate. Like a spectacular car wreck, they're much more focused on the carnage of whatever adventure I've experienced!

We went here for the first time at lunch time today and it was amazing! My three year old loved the meatballs, as did my husband and I. We ordered a large NY style pepperoni pizza and it is huge. Great crisp but not overdone crust with amazing toppings. In addition to the meatball my daughter ate she actually finished a whole piece of pizza, which is unheard of. The restaurant is super clean and organized. Self service beverage bar and take out boxes. From what we could see the pasta comes in huge portions too. They offer beer, wine and dessert selections as well. Highly recommend!

Ok service.....lasagna took way to long cook, then the rest of the order was messed up. That was over 2 years ago and I haven't visited since.

This place is the bomb!!! I found it by its great reviews online and now I know why! Huge portions, reasonable price, and more importantly terrific food! chicken Chesapeake was amazing and their bread is delicious also. Can't wait to try the lobster ravioli tonight.

This place is unbelievable. I am a harsh judge of Italian because of my heritage . Grew up with a 5 foot nothing , Sicilian grandmother who lived in the kitchen. Mamma Roma's passes the test. A step up from Napoli's - which is hard for me to say because I practically grew up in that place. Pizza Pies, calamari and Salads are all great.. I will always stop in when I'm over in that neck of the woods...

Came in for lunch the first time the other day and my overall experience was pretty good. The place is meticulously clean and very comfortable. Staff and the owner (who is italian as others stated by the way) were very friendly. Order at the countertop, a cup is given to you for drinks, and food is brought to the table. Now I was a little confused as to whether the staff who was standing around or cleaning were anticipating a tip.The only service which is rendered is bringing the food to your table. Was never offered a refill but I guess you do it on your own with the fountain. I enjoy tipping but I do not tip just for the heck of it. I tip for service and based on the overall dining experience of a cafeteria I felt a tip was not warranted. Maybe dinner is slightly different but I digress. On to the food! I was torn between the lasagna and chicken brunello. Cashier recommended the brunello which I thought was interesting since this is an italian restaurant! Anyway, went with the latter and waited about 10 minutes for the food to come out which was piping hot and cooked to order. You can definitely tell that the food is freshly prepared and utilizes fresh herbs and spices. Honestly felt like I was eating a home cooked meal prepared at the house! The dish itself was pretty good albeit just a tad bit salty but flavorful and rich. Portion size was generous. Only con was that a few of the chicken pieces were slightly overcooked and one had a piece of muscle still attached to it which was inedible. Also the complimentary italian bread they serve was mediocre and tough at best. I think for dinner they serve the more palatable garlic bread. Overall I had a good experience and would come back again in the near future to try other dishes. Probably the best italian restaurant in southern maryland I've experienced so far.

We love the convenient food ordering/delivering process at this restaurant. Order your food at the register, take your number, and take a seat. The food comes out super fast (we have never waited longer than 10 minutes) and it comes out piping hot. And unlike other chain restaurants with a similar ordering style, this food is delicious and high quality. I always order a hot pasta dish and the sauce tastes homemade and there are fresh herbs in it as well. The pizza is certainly fine and I see a lot of people getting it. The owner/manager is present and friendly.

Stopped here to eat after doing some Christmas shopping. They have a great menu that made it really hard to order. We ordered the calamari fritti as an appetizer. It was good, but nothing special. For my meal I ordered the Chicken Roma. I love pineapples! I don't if pineapple and authentic Italian go hand in hand, but I was willing to try. It was really good, but SUPER greasy. I don't know if they used olive oil to dress the plate, but my noodles appeared to be floating in it. I ate around the top of the noodles, and took the rest home. At home I put the noodles on a paper towel to drain the excess grease. My other dinning partners had awesome meals. I gave them so many stars despite the grease fest because the food WAS really good and there was so much else that I wanted to try.

I was pleasantly surprised by the service and the decor of this place. I've driven past it numerous times and I'm kicking myself now. The food was delivered hot and it was delicious. My very picky daughter had the lobster ravioli and enjoyed every nite. The service was stupendous. The wait staff walked past continuously and made themselves available each time we asked. This was our first time but definitely not our last visit.

Love this place. Family owned from Italy. Every time I visit it takes me back to my vacation to Italy. So favorful and fresh. I want to try everything on the menu. I recommend the Shrimp Gondola as an appetizer. One of the best Southern MD has was to offer. The bad; eat way too much. Revised: Ate here again. The Lobster Ravioli is now my favorite. Bruno, the owner, entertained us with a story how he feed President Bush & Obama.

I assumed the restaurant would be busy, being 1pm on a workday - but it was empty except for a single table of cops. The service was quick and efficient, the the place was very clean. I got myself a cold cut sandwich, and asked for no hots - and still got the hots. :( The sandwich was pretty soaked in oil - to the point that if I didn't eat it quickly enough, the sandwich started to get soggy. The sandwich portion sizes were overloaded, and a little difficult to eat. The fries are perfectly average, and the soda selection is the usual group of Pepsi brands. It's not bad, but it's about the same as any other sit-in Italian place.

Pizza wasn't bad. Spaghetti carbonara was bacon instead of panceta. I expect I'll hear from one of Momma's boys about this, but I know the difference. Panceta is not hickory smoked and rectangular. Mostly, it ain't smoked. Makes the carbonara taste like it was made by a coal miner's wife in WV not a coal miner's wife (the carbonara) in Italy. I don't know where all the 5 start ratings come from other than southern MD is a flavor desert with no real oasis of flavor.

I've been here on multiple occasions and been pleased. Last night I tried the Lasagna. Lasagna is a labor intensive dish, and most chains, and more than a few mom & pop Italian restaurants cut corners where they can. In addition, most places don't cook the sauce long enough, though it's understandable. When you use the same sauce for Pizza and Veal Parmigiana (things you bake) that you use for spaghetti (things you don't) you're compromising. The Sauce on the Lasagna was undercooked. The pasta was good, though there wasn't enough of it (2, maybe 3 layers of Lasagna noodles.), there wasn't enough cheese, especially within the Lasagna, and there was too much ground beef. When I make Lasagna, I simmer the sauce for 4 hours, I use as much cheese as I use meat, and the meat is in the form of sliced or crumbled meatballs, and there's always at least 5 layers of Lasagna noodles. That's how I learned to make Lasagna from my grandfather, Luigi Sacco, who owned 3 Italian Restaurants in his time, all in NYC. Just saying. As good as my earlier experiences have been, I was sufficiently disappointed in the Lasagna to drop the rating from 4 stars to 3. Note: It's still better than the Lasagna I had at Pasta Plus.

Our go to place for pizza and Itailian. Always consistently good. And great service to boot. Would have been all fives but don't think the ordering operation is the best. Whether you eat in or take out you go to the counter to order. For in the waiter brings your dish.

I LOVE LOVE LOOOOOVE this place. The owners (brothers) are the sweetest guys who ALWAYS provide awesome customer service. We frequented the place so much that when I called one of the brothers would call me by name and just know what order to put in for me.

Visisted this place about a month or so ago. Nice little restaurant in the Brandywine Shopping Center. You pick up a menu when get in the door, then go to the cashier to order. They give you a number to place at your table (kind of like a diner) and they bring your food to you. I tried the Caesar Salad and it was delicious (even though the dressing was a bit creamier than your typical Caesar dressing). Wait time for food was not long and the young men working the counter and the server were very friendly and polite. Next time I'll have to try a sub.

Mamma Roma's is my Friday night pizza destination. Reno, the owner, greets me by name and is always in a great mood! Love this place!

I love that there is a Mamma Roma's near my house and now near my work! My coworkers and I go here for dinner after work once in a while, and are never disappointed. One of my favorite items on the menu is the cheese steak, but I also love the lasagna, stuffed shells, and many of the appetizers. The service here is also wonderful.

The main guy that works here is always pleasant to everyone and the staff is very attentive. The ingredients & food is always fresh & out pretty fast. Great management..great staff...great food!

Four friday nights ago, we tired Mama Roma, and have been every friday night since! We have been going for the pizza which is amazing..truly authentic Italian pizza..recommend the Margherita Pizza!! Wow! You will be suprised..nothing like you expect..mouth wateringly good! We also always get the Mozzerella Sticks and salad..yum! This past friday, we also tried the Gnocchi which is available upon request, and recommended by our Italian friends..and it was decadent!! I cant wait to get it again, and try more items each friday night! Love this place..!!! Now get in the car and GO!!!

My husband and I have had Mamma Roma on our list since before they opened and finally had an opportunity to go last night. We love it! Ordering is pizzaria style, you get a number, you get your own drinks (unless ordering beer and/or wine), you get your table and you take a seat. The service was friendly and welcoming and the food was a taste explosion in every bite! We oohed, we aahed, we wined and dined, we basically did everything except lick our plates, which we wiped clean with the crusty, buttery garlic bread instead! That's amore!

When I cannot finish the entree you know it is a good amount of food! Salad with house Italian was great. Had chicken Chesapeake which was chicken breast over fettuccine with mushrooms and crab meat in a pink sauce.Pasta was light and dish was outstanding. Service staff was very attentive but not to the point of bothersome!

Pizza is dry and lacks flavor. I didn't want to go back and try anything else.

Mama Roma is a gem and offers great food at a decent price. By great food I mean culinary food. I like to cook and therefore do not frequent Fridays/ Applebee's / Ruby Tuesdays often because I can make better dishes with very little effort. Mama Roma on the other hand offers something that I could make but would take substantially more trial and error and effort on my part. Friendly staff, generous portions, great food!

This is a great, casual family restaurant. The staff is very friendly. Wonderful for a pizza dinner out with the kids before you grab a movie at Xscape Theatre or make a Target run. The pizza comes out piping hot and is delicious. With a 2 and 6 year old in tow, I appreciated the pay-first, seat-yourself and get-your-own-drinks-and-to-go-box way this place operates. There was no unnecessary waiting and, when my daughter started acting tantrum-y at the end of our meal, we could easily grab a box and go without waiting around for a waiter to bring our check. This restaurant will surely become a regular part of our family nights out with the little ones.

I have now had Mamma Roma twice. The 1st time I had the Fettuccine Mediterraneo. It was good but had a very little amount of crabmeat for $16. Today I had the Fettuccine alla Boscaiola & was not happy. The pasta was overcooked & mushy for my taste & the dish was VERY salty. I didn't even finish it. One a more positive note the staff & especially owners are very welcoming. Maybe it's hit & miss 'cause my mom, who is extremely hard to please (& Italian!) loves this place. She has raved over the alfredo dishes & pizza, neither of which I had as she hasn't had either of the dishes I did. If I go back I'm getting pizza or alfredo!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
