Saw this place on my way up to NY from VA and told myself that I'd stop on my way back down. I did. I got a smoked chicken and a rack of ribs. It was OK. The sides left a lot to be desired. But even if you just went for the food. It was just OK. I don't know if the did I received has been made fresh that day or not.

Greasy but seems popular to most palettes just not mine. No healthy options but again seemed to hit the spot for my husband and son.

Update - one week later: This was the place we met the people we were boarding our dogs with and it just worked out that we would stop here again a week later to pick them up. What an about-face! I got the red pork BBQ and my husband got the pig roast. It was so delicious! And I'll tell you, if they have the sweet potato biscuits when you go, just get a whole batch. I got 3 single biscuits and am already sad that I only have 2 left. Original review (I stand by my review of the chicken): A real disappointment. The smell of bbq was in the air and we had hope, despite the mixed reviews on Yelp. I got the chicken with bbq beans and collard greens. The sides were good but the chicken really lacked any kind of flavor. The chicken grilled at the Solomon Run Fire Hall on Father's Day in Johnstown PA, cooked by a bunch of fellas who did NOT cook chicken for a living, blew this chicken out of the park. My husband had the North Carolina bbq. It was okay, but nothing to write home about. The plus side about this place is all the staff were really friendly and attentive.

It's pretty decent but was hoping it'd be a little better. Smokers off of 611 is definitely better overall. Won't go out of my way to come here, but I can see the locals loving it as there just isn't much else around. Portions are large and prices are good. Really meant to be carryout, eating outside there is just the roar of highway traffic and swarms of flies. The pie was significantly better than anything else. It's a hole in the wall type of place but I worried about cleanliness. Workers went from the register to the stockroom to serving food into takeout containers.

this update was due to the fact I ordered a piece of Peach Pie that was moldy on the underside, i felt quite sick afterwards to say the least frankly it is unacceptable to serve an item that old, it should have been checked ahead of time, so either they forgot it was that that old which is bad enough.. i'd rather not think it would be worse to be honest if something like that can happen, it makes question the cleanliness of the whole place

Excellent chicken bbg, amazing collard greens! Very reasonable prices, right on 113 Great place to stop on way to and from beach!

Everything was exactly as yelp describes a 3 star review. Everything was "A-OK".... but nothing was really outstanding. I was a little disappointed... I remember it being better when I was in high school and lived here. But, one thing I do really like are the chicken wings. You can get them to go in large quantities.

Pit stop review: Wish this place was better. A good no frills kind of place, definitely has its charm, but the BBQ wasn't memorable. Had the brisket sandwich, the meat was bland and dry but their BBQ sauce gained it a few extra brownie points. My friend loved the corn bread though, so that would probably be my recommendation. A good local spot I assume but I don't think I will make it a point to travel back and eat there anytime soon.

I wish this place was better. They definitely microwaved the food. The fruit salad was from a can. The mac and cheese was bland. The chicken was dry. I think they make all of the food way ahead of time and microwave everything. I saw a glimpse of the walk-in and it was just packed with cooked food. No problems with it being a dive, but the prices are way too high for what they are serving.

Random stop on an unexpected detour to Assateague. So happy we were detoured and stopped. I had the red pork sandwich with greens and Mac n cheese. So much food and oh so good. My husband had the Carolina pork sandwich. Delicious, delicious, delicious. A little pricey, but so worth it. Do yourself a favor and add greens to whatever BBQ meat you choose.

I'm really sorry to have to write a review like this, but the bbq I just had at Emmings was simply some of the driest, nastiest tasting bbq I've had in quite some time. Had the chicken/baby back rib combo with collards and mac'n'cheese. Both meats were just so amazingly dry and odd tasting they ended up being very hard to get down. I did notice while I was trying to eat that they were taking plastic wrapped pieces of meat out of the walk in fridge and zapping them for several minutes each before sticking them into their warm food holder. That would explain both the dryness of the meats and the odd taste. Mac'n'cheese was below par and had the texture of microwaved food, the collard greens were the best part of the meal and they were just kinda okay. Cornbread was pretty much congealed pudding, cold and unusual texture as well. I've never seen meats getting microwaved in a bbq place to warm them up, just no excuse for that or for serving older meat that has been stored in a fridge. Two major downers that I can't excuse for what ended up as a $20 dinner. And yes, it is a dive and yes, it is also dirty which would be fine if it was food worth eating. Just can't imagine where the stellar reviews are coming from unless they're planted. They seem like nice folks inside but man do they need Gordon Ramsey to come in here and kick things into shape! Save your time and more importantly your money...

Epic epic epic meal time. You will miss out if you don't stop here for BBQ. We drove down for the weekend and needed some good BBQ. This place is amazing. Much needed.

Stopped in for some real BBQ. Had a red pork sandwich with slaw and beans, mmmmmm good. I love BBQ and this place is the real McCoy with no frills or thrills just real home cooking.

I'm giving it two stars for their desserts only. Worst chicken I've ever had. It was very dry and tough and this was during peak lunch time. Lemon Meringue Pie slice was huge and the best I have tasted. Just like moms.

Five stars for great food!! Friendly service. Total Dive, but isn't that what makes this experience memorable? Had the chicken leg special... Yummy with cole slaw and piece of pie... Too much for me to have so I have a huge snack for later. Husband had the red pork sandwich. Great collard greens and again, yummy CS. Bun homemade, too! Cannot forget the shelled peanuts on the table. How did they know my husband is nuts about nuts! U MUST try this place!

This was our first time here. Cleanliness was not their best suit. There was dust and dead flies on top of the pie case. We ordered a country style rib and chicken combo and a baby back rib and chicken combo. We were charged for and received 2 baby back rib combos. The ribs were fair and extremely salty. The chicken was dry and not edible. The macaroni and cheese was fair. The collards tasted canned. The corn bread was good. The bread pudding was fair. I have had much better. The ribs and chicken were wrapped in plastic and taken from the refrigerator and then microwaved. So much for fresh hot bar-b-q. I would not recommend this business to anyone.

50 wings, full chicken, ribs, 2 sides - same order every time I drive down 113 to ocean city. Best undiscovered BBQ in Delmarva. Personally my favorite wings ever.

Not bad for yankee BBQ. The Carolina style had a little heat to it which is how I like it. The sides (coke slaw and potato salad) tasted like they came from Wal Mart.

If you are looking for good BBQ in the lower Delaware area, this is the place to go. Forget that terrible chain restaurant in Bethany, this is where it is at. All the meat here is slow cooked on a smoker. They sauces are on the side, so it is up to you on how much you add to the meat. They have a great selection of sides including mac and cheese, collards, cole slaw, baked beans and corn bread. If you are a fan of real BBQ, this is the only place to go near the Delaware shore.

Em-Ing's is the one of two places on the shore that I have found to date that knows how to make BBQ. No, I don't mean dousing meat in BBQ sauce. I mean slow smoking the meat at low heat for several hours until it gets smoke rings from the carbon monoxide. The beef brisket is good and their sides are the only soul food that I've found in the area: mac n' cheese and collard greens with a little bit of pork fat are staples here. It's not much for decor but for take out for your family, for large parties, or to simply eat just outside at one of their picnic benches on a warm day, it's good eats!

This is the BEST place to get BBQ and it's not a far from the beach so we simply stop in on our way to Ocean City. A bit off the beaten path is probably why it's good because it's not a tourist trap and seems to cater mostly to locals. It should be a MUST for anyone wanting great BBQ without having to do the work and they have great sides, fresh baked bread and desserts.

Good BBQ from a dumpy little spot! I get suspicious if a bbq joint is too clean or fancy. The babyback ribs are nicely smoked and have alot of meat. Mine came dry so Im glad I asked for extra sauce on the side. Speaking of sides, they were good as well. They also have beef ribs, St.louis ribs and country ribs which I'll try next time. Potato salad and cole slaw plopped in a styrofoam container and $10 whole pies. Not impressed with the chicken, it was pretty dry. Lots of picnic tables outside which is good for warmer months. The portions are large and prices are reasonable.
