Authentic Peruvian Style: Hands down the best Charbroiled Chicken my taste buds have been blessed to meet. Other great dishes I've tried include Carnero/ Lamb chops, Camerones Al Grill/ Gulf Shrimp charbroiled ,Ultimate Mixed Grill, and Pollo Saltado . As far as sides go the Fried Yuca, Fried Plantain, and Beans and Rice are a plus.

Best chicken in Maryland, period. I have never had a bad meal here! Whenever my husband and I have company in town, Sardi's is a must so we can introduce as many of our friends and family to their delicious food.

Amaaaaaaazing chicken and all the sides were delicious! Yelp! You did not fail us this time :)

Busy, Busy, Busy....but good chicken and a lot of different sides.

Sardi's has stolen a piece of my heart! After a weekend fo carryout/delivery because of two sick kids, I decided there was NO WAY I could have pizza or chinese anymore. I "yelped" local delivery joints. While I've dined at Sardi's before, I had no idea they delivered and that you could order online. So when I found this, my heart leaped with joy. I placed my order and then realized...they don't deliver on Sundays. I started panicking wondering how I was going to get two kids under 3 with a stomach bug out of the house to pick up MY dinner...so I called and made a desperate plea with the person on the phone. With no hesitation, they had my food at my doorstep in 20 minutes. THEY ARE AMAZING!!!! All of the chicken is probably the best, juiciest and tastiest, I've ever had. I always get it with the beans and rice, sometimes green beans. The corn is kinda dry and tasteless. This place is always packed with people. DON'T be deceived by its old pizza hut look. You won't be disappointed!!!

The food here is good. Really good. Yes, its in an old pizza hut (or whatever this place used to be) on a down run portion of route 1, and it has no atmosphere or character. Doesn't matter one bit. There's a reason this place always has a line at the counter. The chicken is delicious. Some of the best Peruvian chicken I've ever had. Its a perfect blend of spices and seasoning, cooked just right, and makes you want to keep coming back. The sides are great as well- I always get the fried plantains (delicious!) and vary the other one, but I have never been disappointed. If it wasn't so filling I'd go several times a week.

The handful of times I've gotten food at this place, it's all been tasty. Great chicken and I really like fried plaintains so if I'm craving something a little different for take-out, this place has come to mind. When you drive by this place with the window down, you can't help but smell the great aroma from the building. If you get their chicken with sides, just know you'll get a sizable amount of food for the price. I've brought leftovers home more than once.

Man this place rocks! I almost never have Peruvian chicken, and Sardi's was my first time in a long time, but I'll definitely be back for more. The chicken is cooked with so much flavor and is incredibly juicy, not a dry bit of meat to be found. Gotta love the skin as well. The sides are also mind-blowing. The fried yucca is much like a french fry but with a starchier taste to it, and the fried plantains combine the sweetness of a banana with the saltiness of the fry, resulting in a combination that leaves you wanting to eat more. Try the green dipping sauce if you want heat and the white sauce if you want cool. For less than $10 you can get the 1/4 chicken meal, which gives you a good piece of the bird plus two heaping servings of sides. ¡Yo quiero mas por favor!

Great food, excellent prices. A very good experience. The food was quite good and a great new experience for us. Service was also very good, especially considering the fast food format.

  • Tye H.

The food here is pretty good. Very flavorful and juicy. It's also reasonably priced. It's a comfortable neighborhood spot when you just want something tasty and fast. My favorite dish is their flavorful Carne Asada which is so mouthwatering even now. Setting is clean, service is pleasant and there's plenty of parking.

There's nothing left to say about this place that hasn't already been said. Cheap prices, generous portions, and GREAT flavorful Peruvian chicken and sides. I salivate, picturing all the above.

If there's one thing I miss about home, it's peruvian chicken! There's no place like this (that I know of) in Philly -- esp. not in the center city or university city area. I lovee this place! Pretty cheap and huge portions! Always hot and delicious, consistent quality. The chicken is soooo good and they have lots of great sides to choose from. I don't have a single bad thing to say about this place! My favorite place for peruvian chicken was actually Chicken Rico in College Park on Route 1 that is actually closed now. So I would definitely have to say that Sardi's is probably the best of its kind in this area. King Pollo and all those wannabes in beltsville, greenbelt and college park have nothing on Sardis. Seriously, go and pig out if you haven't already!

  • Adam A.

Been going to this place for over 5 years. Their Peruvian chicken is crack. So are all of their sides. Chicken is always fresh, juicy, and flavorful. I recommend the fried yucca and plantains.

  • Ursula P.

Normally, I would go for the chicken, but a friend suggested the lamb chops. The lamb chops are cooked to order and are the best lamb chops I have had in along time. They were seasoned perfectly and grilled to perfection. It was so good that my husband and I try to make it a Friday night staple. The price isnt' bad either at about 13 dollars for 5 lamb chops and two sides. And try the leche cake! buttery cake soaked in cream...yum!

  • Sana J.

If I could eat here everyday, I totally would. The food is just downright delicious. The wait can be long sometimes, especially for the specialty dishes, but I usually just order (they do takeout) like 10 minutes in advance and its perfect. I would recommend the lomo saltado first, the roasted chicken (with the green sauce - we always buy extra - i could literally DRINK that stuff), and the pollo saltado is also really good. I see families here and people from all sorts of backgrounds enjoying a delicious meal together - its quite beautiful actually. Just remember, this is a local favorite so its packed and busy almost always so give yourself plenty of time!

Reasonably priced, and huge portions. Their rotisserie chicken is excellent. Their sides are filling, well seasoned, and varied. Many are made from fresh ingredients. You really can't go wrong with Sardi's... My main complaint is that they are incredibly popular. There aren't a lot of good, affordable food options in the area, so lines get very long during the dinner rush (which lasts until about 9pm). Sometimes calling ahead helps, but it's best to pick out sides on the spot so you can choose what ever's freshest from the kitchen. Once I ordered delivery. It took over 2 hours. I don't recommend that.

A good place to eat near College Park, MD?! No way! My food experiences in CP has been disappointing to say the least, however Sardi's is one of the few food highlights in CP (or near Univ of Maryland). I ordered the ultimate mix chicken grill ($14.95) with an extra side of carne asada (since I don't eat shrimp). The flame-fired chicken was excellent--- the seasoning was perfectly infused with the skin, and the meat was succulent and the rich seasoning reached the bone. The carne asada similar to the chicken was marinated and seasoned well. The meat also appeared to be of better quality compared to the many places that I have tried in the area---very tender. Our meals were prepared within 10 minutes which I thought was impressive since they had a huge Friday lunch crowd. Ample parking too which is always a plus. Might I say this might be my go-to spot in College Park?! Time will tell...

The chicken is tasty, but too small a size. If you are a big eater, be prepare to order two.

  • Paul S.

Pretty damn good chicken! Great selection of sides, green beans, yuca and plantains were excellent. Always a line, so finding a table is tough sometimes.

Best chicken around period!! Great customer service! Food is reasonably rpiced.

  • The S.

Excellent churrasco chicken and sides. Had the green beans and fried plantains. Mmmm, good! Hubby had the chicken parillero and enjoyed that as well. Came back next evening and had the fish ceviche. It was good but have to say that my mother makes it better. ( Grew up in French Polynesia and that is a local specialty there) Hubby had the mixed grill and he did not care for the steak or chorizo. Chicken and shrimp as well as rice, plantains and green beans were all very tasty

  • George C.

Their chicken and side orders that come with chicken are excellent. But if you order anything other than chicken, then you must wait longer to be served and food other than chicken is not as good. Their dining area is so noisy that I only order take out. It is so noisy that they sometimes cannot hear you over the phone when placing a takeout order. They then just hangup. Noise is caused by three TVs and music, all playing simultaneously in the dining area, while everybody has to raise their voices to have conversation above it. Their takeout phone ordering system is poor. Often they don't answer, and often they cannot hear my side of the conversation when they do answer. I've asked them multiple times to fix their telephone. They haven't.

Located in a former Pizza Hut building. Sardi's gives one the feeling of a well managed, yet humble, food service operation. Two giant charcoal ovens open to the dining area and display their chickens roasting before your very eyes. We ordered a fish sandwich (with a sweet potato on it!) and the Peruvian beef dish known as lomo saltado. Both dishes were full flavorsome and showed signs of being prepared with love and care. Sides and sauces were great. Loved the pickled onion salsa in particular. Sardi's is a restaurant at its apex.

So delicious! So far I've had their chicken and lamb chops, and sides and so far everything has left me ultra satisfied. The food is well seasoned and delicious and the portions are generous. Wish I had pics to share, but it always goes so quickly! Definitely a great place to eat, especially after navigating IKEA!!

Only negative it gets busy and therefore a little cluttered. Good chicken, beans, and plantains. Great value and quick service thru the cafeteria style line. B+

One of the best things that has ever happened is to get rid of the Pizza Hut and open Sardi's. This place has the best chicken I have ever tasted. Coupled with a side of green beans and fried rice, you can't go wrong in Beltsville. I am a regular for sure!!!!!

    (5)
  • Shari W.

First, I don't like meat. I eat chicken only for the protein and sparingly at that. BUT, the sides here are amazing! The portions are generous as well. I love plantains and they cook them perfectly. The rice and beans are a delight. But the chicken- I'll eat this charboiled masterpiece any day of the week and the sauces, make eating it fun. You just can't go wrong with this place.

Repeat after me.. Nothing will ever beat Renzo's a Taste of Peru in Irvine.. I mourn the day that you closed :(. HOWEVER, this place came pretty damn close! (Even though it's a six hour flight away from home.) My boyfriend's cousins took us here and apparently its a local favorite because the place was packed when we got there. It's a casual, self-serve type of restaurant.. Ceviche mixto: yelp.com/user_local_phot… The corn was JUMBO sized and different from any type of corn I've ever had.. Unique and it went well with the dish. The seafood used was a bit chewy.. It had calamari, scallop, red snapper (?), shrimp, and just the right amount of spice and lime! The side of sweet potato balanced the spice and saltiness perfectly. 1/4th white chicken with side of potatoes and string beans: yelp.com/user_local_phot… So flavorful! I could not stop eating the string beans.. Nom nom noms. The white chicken was a little dry, but that's usually how it is anyways. No problem though; dip it in the light green spicy sauce and all is good! Not sure what the sauce was, but it was delicious.. Dishes are around $6-$8 and portions are large enough for two to share. I'd definitely come back the next time we're in town :).

Today I tried to eat something different than the famously known chicken at Sardi's, and opted for the camarones al grill (shrimp skewers). At first scent, the smell was not quite as strong as the chicken's. But after I opened the takeout box for a whiff, oh my... I do not regret my choice one bit... As I bit into my first shrimp, I wondered how good could it possibly be. I've been to many restaurants where they have very delicate and awesome sounding shrimp dishes, but most of the time the shrimps were not as great as I had anticipated. Sardi's, however, blew my taste buds over the top. It was probably the most tasteful, aromatic shrimp I've ever tasted in my life. I had a total of 12 and each one took about 3 to 4 bites. They were so juicy, meaty, and packed a punch of flavor. I also opted for the fried plantains and french fries, and they were pretty good. The only thing I wish was different about the fried plantains is that they could use a little bit more crunchy parts, because those parts tend to be the most flavorful and sweet (as opposed to the blander, middle fleshy part of the plantain). Otherwise, the fries were pretty standard. I actually ended up finishing the WHOLE box. I'm such a glutton when it comes to good food... And too good to save! xD but now I'm stuffed beyond belief... Darn you Sardiiiiiiiii's! Next time, I will be back for different choices of sides, and definitely for other entrée options as well. Keep doing what you're doing, Sardi's! You rock!!!

Wow! Babysat my nephews in college park and my cousin suggested I ordered some food while they were away through grub hub. Surprisingly Sardi's was listed to deliver, so I said cool! Gave it a try again (as promised!) and I'm so glad I did. For delivery, my chicken came to me hot, fresh, and juicy! The only downside is that it took about 45 minutes to get to me and I know I'm only 15 minutes away. Mehhh! But I'm glad I tried it again. Hopefully when I dine in, my chicken will be just as good as it was delivered.

I come to Sardis quite often, perhaps once per week or once every two weeks. Usually its a 4 star rating. However there are times when like many chicken places the chicken can be a little dry or not taste as best as it could. I think its part of mass producing these chickens. Sometimes it just doesn't come out the same. For the most part its always pretty good. Ive had almost everything on their menu particularly the ceviche, mi Perú, the chicken, the anticucho and seco de carne which I order mostly. Seco has always been good and so is the ceviche. The portions are hearty and you leave full and often with leftovers.

*Review Update* Finally tried something new! Got the cerviche pescado and chicherones De pollo. At first I was hesitant on ordering raw fish at a chicken spot but the food is always good so, why not? The cerviche was a white fish served with red onions and a spicy lime dressing that was amazing. It came with a side of sweet potato that went well with the cerviche. Great low cal, summertime dish that was filling. Lime dressing was ssoooo tasty. The cicherones de pollo was fried well, not greasy at all. Juicy fried chicken breast nuggets. Yum. It came with the 3 sauces and 2 sides. Were the dishes better than the roasted chicken and 2 sides? That's a hard question to answer. Here's a plan instead...Go with a friend, have them order the chicken and you order something else. Split the left overs. Best of both worlds! They also have a veggie option. 3 sides for $6.99 I think. Bottom line: You can't go wrong at Sardis. Great meals for all tastes and diets.

I am not a huge fan of chicken because it's a little too dry for my taste but Sardi's is so freakin' good that I crave their chicken. The staff is always really friendly and helpful when I go there... But more importantly, their food is bangin'. I usually get the half chicken meal, which comes with two sides. I get the yucca and green beans. Yucca is good, as always, but the green beans are NOT mushy like every other establishment you go to where they serve you those disgusting frozen green beans that are overcooked. They are actually cooked and seasoned well! I have also tried their fried plantains and boy... Those are yummy as well! I'm not a huge plantain fan but these were definitely the best I have ever tasted. I LOOOOOVE SARDI'S!

WOW - so freaking delicious! I'm SOOO glad I made a stop here before flying out of Dulles airport this past Sunday. I love peruvian food, and when I saw this place had a near perfect rating, I knew I had to try it. I ordered the 1/4 chicken with sides of plantain and and peruvian fried rice. portions are HUMONGOUS and so so very delicious, as expected. And the sauces... especially the green one is to die for! Every single thing on my plate was delicious. EVERYTHING. I also really love the style of this restaurant where you order in a line and bring your own food back to a table where you seat your self. If there were more to-go style peruvian places where I live (California), I'd be allllll over it -- there's only formal sit down restaurants =/ All in all, I will 100% surely come back to Sardi's if I find myself in the College Park area again. So good.

Amazing Food!! The ceviche is decent, the chicken is amazing! And they deliver!! If you are in the area this place is a must.

Busy but delicious! It's a no frills kind of place but the food brings all kinds of people from the community together. The lines during dinner rush times are long but quick. A lot of people seem to do take-away. They give generous portions, the food is and looks fresh, and the prices are affordable. A great neighborhood spot!

I love this place. This place is great with their food and quantity. It is tasty and fun and awesome! This is the best Peruvian chicken I've had and I basically compare all chicken to this place. I usually get the 1/4 or 1/2 chicken and it is fantastic. Their chicken is delicious and I mean delicious! The skin is a little crisp which I love and the meat is quite tender. The whole thing is full of flavor and causes your mouth to drool. The sides are also really great. You get a choice for 2 sides and I usually settle for double yuca (highly recommended). If not, I would either get the plantains or fried rice. Their sauces are also amazing. The yellow sauce is my favorite while the green sauce has been growing on me. This place is a great eat and an awesome place to hang out. Service is nice and the restaurant isn't too noisy. It does get a little hard to come in groups because this place does get crowded quite quickly and quite often (as it should). An absurd amount of food for a great place!

  • Peter B.

The chicken. The veggies. The yucca. The sheer pleasure of eating. I ******* love Sardis. I'm not so sure how it can be adequately described, but Sardis is the tastiest chicken I've ever eaten. I usually get it to go for lunch and every time I just wonder as to how I went so long without eating it.

  • Jess Y.

Definitely my Peruvian chicken joint of choice in the area. The line moves pretty quickly and the service is pretty good. The chicken is extremely flavorful and tender, I noticed that a lot of places have trouble keeping it juicy. I love that they aren't cheap with their sauces either, just an added bonus.

    (4)
  • Sabrina K.

Food is amazing! I usually don't spring for chicken joints, but this was my first taste of Peruvian style chicken, and I was not disappointed. I tried the 1/4 chicken with 2 sides (green beans and yucca....SO good!!) The sauces made the meal phenomenal. I wish I could just buy the sauce to use on everything. Highly recommended.

My Terp Senior son suggested this place. We went for for a 21st birthday lunch. Wow! I was impressed well past my initial impressions. The place itself is not incredibly special, its almost "dumpish" in a way (I had foolishly driven by it bunches of times)- at least compared to some of the more elegant places I have had the good fortune to dine in. However the meal explains the lines and crowded parking lot. It is a "destination" food stop. I will be back. We both had chicken, you can't not, perhaps some visit I will try some of the other things on the rather large menu but with "pollo" in the name on the door it seemed silly to not have that as a first visit meal. It was excellent. Imagine every decent Sam's Club, grocery store rotisserie chicken you have ever had and then give it A-Rod level flavor steroids. I understand why the dole out the sauces (especially green) in tiny little plastic cups. (Note to owners-bottle that stuff and sell it there at the counter for "1 million dollars" a pint. I added the fried yucca and Peruvian fried rice to my order. I was stuffed, licked my fingers and wanted more. It misses out on the fifth star only because as I said earlier it's really more of a "takeout" kind of place. There are tables of course and they were packed-but there's nothing special about eating there. Latin radio and TV's? There was some local "talent"; it's a college area and some good representation of Hispanic patrons if you get my drift....LOL Follows my rule- if the natives of a cultures cuisine eat at a place you should as well.

This place was a busy zoo when my husband and I came for dinner on a Saturday night. Here are a few important things we learned: *Check out their menu online or grab one from one of the tables before you hop in line. If you don't and decide to wait to look at the menu up close, you better be fast reader and good a making choices. *choose it for to-go option even if you eat there. Good portions amd you dun wanna swim through the line to get a to go box *Their flan is delicious. It is like cheese cake and crappy flan had a baby. *The white rice is misleading. It's amazing and very aromatic.

Very filling and flavorful. The fried plantains are delicious. If you prefer chicken without the bones, try the churrasco de pollo.

Very unprofessional and rude. Called. but conenction on phone kept cutting out. Decided to just drive there because I was famished. Arrived at 9:15 and was told they were already closed. They posted that they were open to 10 pm. When I asked what happened to compel them to close early , they just shrugged. Another person arrived and was equally annoyed betheir surly behavior. Stinks.

Ridiculously good food! Flew in to Reagan between lunch and dinner and my husband suggested we eat here for dinner. Both ordered 1/4 chicken dark meat (my sides were fries and fried rice-his were plantains and veggies) and fountain drinks (coke products-bonus!). We should have shared-it was that much food! But it was too good to go to waste or share so stuff ourselves silly we did. Ended up eating here again two more times for lunch before I flew out.

this was my very first visit & the staff was super friendly & patient with me while i made my decision on what i wanted to order. i ordered the 1/4 chicken, green beans, potatoes & plantains. the food was delicious & the atmosphere was comfortable. i definitely enjoyed myself & i will be going back soon!

Sardis is the replica of pollo Rico. The first pollo a la brasa to open in md. I really hate it because it's way too salty and moist. I like my chicken broiled to perfection and with a little amount of salt. The yellow sauces they provide with the chicken taste horrible. The original has a thick bitter taste to it but this one is salty and spicey -__- why add salty sauce to a salty chicken and now it has become so hyped that you have to wait 20 minutes or more to order.

  • Lucy X.

Omg the food here is so so so bomb. The lunch combo is a great deal, chicken and two sides for less than ten bucks. I got 1/4 white meat chicken (which was plenty enough for myself) with two sides of fried yucca and fried plantains. Despite the probable OD of friedness in one meal it was absolutely worth it because everything was so delicious. The chicken was very flavorful and tasted even better with the three sauces, the yucca were perfectly fried, golden and crunchy on the outside and soft, melt-in-your-mouth on the inside, and the plantains were soft and sweet. Everything just went so well together. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal, totally recommend!!

I used to love this place since the first day they opened up in beltsville. I got family, co-workers and friends hooked on this place, but... I WILL NEVER EAT THERE AS OF TODAY!!! AFTER I ATE HALF MY DE CASA SALAD, I FOUND A BUG IN MY FOOD!!!! EWWWH and when I brought it up to the manager he accuses me of putting it in there. He said "I dont know if it was from here or outside" WTF!! really?!?!?! He then said "I can make another one for you...and thats all I can do" Thats just horrible! I warned my co-workers as well. We will not be ordering from there again.

The chicken at Sardi's is always excellent. I usually get the fried yucca and fried rice or plantains on the side. So good. I'm a big fan of the green salsa. Also, their salad dressing is great too if you're in the mood for a lighter side. It's usually very busy, but the line tends to move pretty quickly. The staff is very friendly. I highly recommend it!

Delicious chicken and sides! Plus don't forget dessert; the tres Leche cake is AMAZING!

  • Ken M.

Hugely busy. My wife suggested it because she and her work buddies had come here for lunch. We came here for dinner and it's one of those places that has a line to order the food...sort of like Chipotle. I wasn't really thrilled with it and it was noisy with a never ending line. So someone must like it. They do cook the whole chicken right there and whack it with their machetes to cut it up for customers.

  • Carolyn M.

Chicken is tasty as expected. However, it was very small - really no wing meat and the breast meat was minimal. A whole chicken is $12. I'd rather drive another mile down Route 1 and pay $5 for a larger roasted chicken from Costco. The french fries were mediocre. We did enjoy the fried plantains. I'll go again and try something different.

Great chicken, green beans and fried rice. The line was long, but they move it really fast.

I heard so many good things about Sardi's in Beltville that I had to check it out myself. When I got there the place was packed. The line was moving in a good pace and I got me a 1/4 dark chicken with fries & veggies. I also ordered a mixed Peruvian ceviche which was delicious. The food is great and they play good music. I would totally recommend this place to anyone.

  • Spira E.

Delicious food in generous portions at an affordable price. My family loves this place and we've taken just about every family member and friend who passes through town here for chicken and sides. The chicken is always flavorful and succulent. The sides are tasty and there's a generous selection of them. Even with long lines, service is quick and convenient. I do recommend that you call ahead if ordering entrees other than the 1/4, 1/2 or whole chicken with sides to avoid a longer wait.

From the moment I stepped out of my car my mouth watered! When I stepped in the restaurant I saw the chickens turning around and around wondering who was gonna by my lucky bird date that evening! I proceeded to place my order, a 1/4 chicken white meat with rice and salad. Well Mr. Lucky Juicy bird got cut in a 4th, rice dropped in the corner of the take out box and salad on a container and we went on our marry way home. When I got home I couldn't wait to break in the bag to open the hood of the box! Chicken very moist and seasoned! Rice very favorable! Salad good except for all the onions they use now. I couldn't wash that smell away until I took a bath, WOW! All in all a perfect Sunday night dinner!

Great food but if you order anything other than chicken you might have to wait a bit longer for your food. Other than that its a great place!

  • Richard A.

I enjoyed my Pollo Saltado served with rice and fries. The chicken had several pieces that were slightly over cooked but most were moist. The sauces were great. They serve the chicken over fries and the sauce was absorbed into the fries. Because the fries are salted and with the sauce caused this wonderful combination to be over seasoned. All items on there menu are gluten free, but I would check with the manager to be certain...

  • Dwight C.

Whoa! That's some tangy sauces. The roasted chicken is delicious! Try the gyro salad too. You won't regret going here for dinner. I don't know how they make the sauces or what's in them, but they are tangy & spicy. A good compliment to the chicken or the salad. A full meal without a drink is around $10 or $15 dollars.

Good place for dinner...no complaint for dinner. Line was long for a Monday night....but we all eat out in this area any night we can. I like my sides not to touch and they gave me my food in different boxes with no questions asked. ..

First if all, don't listen to anyone on here who gives this place 1 star. They were probably paid to lie. I am telling the truth for free. This place is AMAZING! I have been coming here for two years now, and it is the best peruvian spot I've ever been to. I hooked my parents on to it. The arroz chaufa is excellent! The chicken is very well seasoned. The shrimp, gyros, steak, you name it, are all awesome. I am in love with this place! Do yourself a favor and try it. You'll be happythat you did.

This was my first time ordering from here. I got delivery. The delivery driver was THE ABSOLUTE WORST! I ordered online (Grubhub) and paid with my card, including the tip. I live in a high-rise apartment building. The guy calls saying he is in the lobby, and to come down. Ummm, no.. I paid for delivery to my door, not the lobby. He hangs up on me. Makes his way upstairs to my apartment (there is an elevator!) and proceeds to tell me that if I order delivery again I have to come to the lobby. WHat?? I will not be ordering from there again.

I would love to give Sardi's a 5 star rating, but I can't. The food is amazing. There's no question about that. I'm partial to the charbroiled chicken (1/4, dark), the grilled shrimp, and carne asada. As a matter of fact, just get the ultimate mixed grill and get all 3 of those and 2 sides for $15. Their sides are all pretty tasty, but the string beans stand out. My biggest frustration is with the phone delivery ordering. On several ocassions they've messed up my order COMPLETELY and in one case, they were closed by the time I called back, which is about 5 minutes after I got my food delivered. I have about a 50/50% chance of disappointment when ordering on the phone, so I try to just go to the store. The portions are great, the prices are fitting, and the taste is absolutely amazing. Definitely check Sardi's out, just try to go in or order online, if you can find a site that takes orders for them.

Found myself in College Park looking for a place to eat; Yelped the area and Sardi's popped up. Amazing rotisserie chicken! The place smells great and is packed; always a good sign. The menu is ridiculous; I started getting choice overload but decided on a 1/4 chicken and the yucca fries. Phew. Everything was awesome. I'll stop off again next time I'm in the area. Curious to try some ceviche here; I bet its good...everything else seems authentic enough.

A friend took me here today and I can't believe that as many times as I have passed by this place on Rt 1 I have never been here. I've been missing out! Awesome Peruvian chicken. The chicken is so good you barely have to use the sauce because it's so flavorful. The yuca fries with the yellow sauce is delicious. Very good maduros (sweet ripened plantains) and pinto beans. Everything was amazing. The place was very packed on a Sunday with all kinds of people, not just Hispanics. That's how you know it's good. What a hidden gem. Service was good and there's all kinds of great stuff on the menu. Can't wait to go back. Might be my new fav place...

Sardis chicken is BOMB. No question. A friend put me on about a week ago and I can't stop eating it. I'm taking one star for the lack of sides but the chicken itself pulls four stars alone. The line was long the first time I went but I went today and was pleasantly surprised. Only eight people ahead and I was eating in no time. Rice and beans is a must along with mixed vegetables or plantains. Their green beans leave a lot to be desired. Def try the Tres Leches cake. OMG, so good!

A-Mazing!!! Recently, I started a new job and haven't really ventured out because I didn't think there were many good restaurants near me. Boy was I wrong. Today, I pulled up Yelp, typed in my address and the first one to come up was Sardi's Pollo a La Brasa in College Park. It had raving reviews so I figured why not. One commenter also complained about how long their lines are so I ordered it for delivery via GrubHub.(free delivery) I decided to order the Pollo Saltado, which is a Peruvian stir-fry like dish. It had grilled strips of chicken, with large slices of red and white onions, along with a few slices of grilled tomato. In typical fashion it was served over french fries and rice. The meal came with an assortment of sauces but I decided to taste the food first before I ventured out and tried all of them. It was amazing! The tender chicken was perfectly seasoned. Peruvian food tends to run a little salty but this was perfect. Next, I dipped the meat along with the veggies into the various sauces and each of them very equally delicious, especially the green one. It had a bit of a kick to it, but it wasn't too spicy. I also like the consistency of the french fries, they were soft but not soggy. Lastly, I'd like to comment on the portion size, it's huge! Although, I wanted to I could only eat about half of it. They give you a sizable amount of food for only $12. Can't wait to finish it up for lunch tomorrow. Thanks Sardi's. I'm truly impressed.

This place is unbelievable! The prices are low and they definitely cater to a family/college crowd. While it's pretty obvious the building used to be an old pizza hut, the food is SO good! I can't speak to the authenticity of the Peruvian food, it definitely has a "comfort food" feel. I ordered a half chicken with Peruvian corn and fried plantains - everything on my plate was delicious, especially the fried plantains! They provide these little canisters of sauce which are delicious even though I'm not sure what they are... so I tried them on pretty much everything! Delicious!

WOW. Looking for some dinner after a long day working in the DC area, I wanted tasty, quick, and not too expensive. Sardi's was a win on all three. I walked up and ordered my chicken, sides, and it was served up off the rotisserie in minutes. The chicken was incredibly juicy and flavorful, with a great set of sauces, and the fried yucca and mix of black beans and rice REALLY hit the spot. The best part? In and out for under $10.

Great Prices, great food, great service... whats not to love? I think this place is a hidden gym. The chicken is well prepared, the sides are good but like many places, they don't offer a wide enough variety to cater to most American taste. I am not saying you wont find a side that you enjoy but some people may have issues finding a side that they truly savor. I purchased the chicken, plantains and fried rice. I enjoyed my meal and would recommend it to anyone I consider a friend. Try a meal yourself and let me know what you think.

Can I give this place 10 STARS??? Absolutely amazing. The food is always fresh and one of my family's favorite places to eat dinner. You cant go wrong here. Even if you arent into Peruvian food, you can find something. My absolute favorite is the Sardi Salmon! WHOOO GOODNESS! I think I may go there for lunch today. They have online ordering if you dont want to wait in the lunch rush line. The chicken here is awesome and better than any other place Ive been.

I frequently come from the west coast and my stop is always at Sardi's. I have tried other Peruvian chicken restaurants in MD, and nothing compares to Sardi's. Sardi's is #1 in our household. We order 1/4 chicken, fried rice w/ black beans and string beans. My mouth is already watering as I am typing this review. The sauce is also amazing. I had a family visit from New Jersey and asked if they ever had Peruvian chicken and the response was "yes" like it is ok answer....so I took them to Sardi's. Now Sardi's is their #1 restaurant. Every time this family comes to visit, Sardi's is on their list as a must have. I always say if I win the lottery, I will bring this restaurant to the west coast. Amazing food for such a great price. I highly recommend this restaurant! Victoria

Very affordable and very tasty. I only tried their plantains and baked chicken. The plantains are very good and the chicken is tender and juicy. The chicken itself may not have much flaver, but the sauces are so good. I like their yellow sauces best. I wish I know what it is.

Excellent!! This place is modest looking but efficiently run. You order as you enter, pay and pick your food! The food is to die for, I had chargrilled Shrimps with beans and fried plantains and my husband ordered pork chops, Peruvian rice and yuka. Yum!! Reasonably priced and great tasting, what else can you ask for!! Must visit.

It has been 3 hours since walking out of this joint and I am still FULL!! Itis to the max :) I ordered the 1/4 chicken (white meat) with rice/beans and plantains. All under $9 with a drink. I think we got a 10% Military Discount. Food was delicious and the portion was excellent for the price. Service was quick and painless as you walk through the line to make your order. Highly recommend this place and I will be back!

There's really no bad food here. We've slowly tried everything on the menu- most of it anyway. Here's a clue. 1. Don't fear the line- it goes really fast. 2. Try something new. 3. In a hurry? ONLY order the chicken off the big menu on the back wall They "plate" it in seconds.. 4. Want to try something other than chicken? It can take up to 15 minutes to prepare- not too bad. But, the chicken is faster than fast food. What don't I like? Styrofoam plates. Soccer games playing all the time on the TVs. That's really about it. This place is an amazing find- and it's affordable.

    (4)
  • Phi N.

The chicken here is really good. Not the best I've had, but definitely up there! What really makes the meal is the green sauce. The chicken plus the green sauce makes it hands down my favorite. The yuca and potatoes weren't salty enough for me by themselves, so get some sauce to dip them in! I want to come back to try the lambchops but this place gets packed! Come here at noon and the line will be out the door!

Best Peruvian chicken in Maryland, and my stomach and has endured plenty of chicken. Out of many Peruvian Chicken places within the DC suburbs (Chicken Rico in Hyattsville, Crisp & Juicy in Rockville, Don Pollo in Bethesda as quick examples), Sardi's is a taste above the rest, no bull. When I came here for the first time, I already knew by the size of the line that reached out the door on a weeknight that this place was hittin'. The one thing that I appreciate about Sardi's is that the side dishes compliment the main dishes very well. For example, if I order a half-chicken, I can expect that the roasted potatoes and beans/fried rice combination will be just as good. Many Peruvian restaurants have good chicken, but the sides are lacking something serious. Oh yeah, the prices are cheap in my opinion. You can get a half-chicken with two sides for no more than $12. That is not bad for a meal you can easily split for two days. There is a dine-in area with a couple of tables. I have not had a dine-in experience at Sardi's yet, but from observation the tables stayed filled up. Oh, about that long line. If you don't want to endure that long time (there is one at any time of the day; it's near UMD), you might want to place your order via phone first. The last time I went to Sardi's, I did just that and I was out in less than 2 minutes. One downside that I will bring is the small parking lot. You might be lucky to find parking close by, but due to how popular Sardi's is, the parking lot will stay filled. People got to get their chicken fix, or whatever fix they are in the mood for. Five stars.

If you're looking for fine dining, you've come to the wrong place. If you're looking for nice restaurant with white tablecloths, cloth napkins and servers with white gloves, you're not going to find it here. What you are going to find is excellent Peruvian barbecue chicken, pork, lamb chops, short ribs and steak(for the carnivores) with great sides(yuca/cassava fries, steamed veggies, beans(not the Heinz/Libby's kind), rice, corn). We ordered the lamb and pork chops and opted to dine in after a busy afternoon at the Air and Space Museum in D.C. Mmmmm.... very sizeable portions too. If you see a group of hungry Metro workers at an adjacent table enjoying their food, you can't be wrong... Next time, we have to come back and try their chicken! Note: half an hour before closing, they only sell barbecue chicken. So, if you have a hankering for the other meats, you need to show up earlier...

I moved away from College Park last year, and Sardi's is definitely the restaurant I miss the most. You get a lot of food for a great price. The pollo a la brasa is some of the best chicken I've ever had. The plantains and rice are great sides to go along with it. I highly recommend!

I've been a fan of Sardi's for a long time, but this last experience was really regretful. Their food has always been tasty, but I am writing this review to make people aware that the food may not always be the freshest. This last time I ate there, it resulted in terrible poisoning that lasted over 48 hrs. It is something I don't wish on anyone. Again, it is not to bash their food, but to warn the public. Many restaurants in the are are being closed down due to violations in health issues, and I wonder if Sardi's will be added to the list soon.

I am leaving only one star, because this place doesn't accept American Express and strictly uses styrofoam!!!! Even if you are dining in, your food will be served on styrofoam. This is so outdated!

I LOVE Peruvian chicken and have been hearing about how amazing Sardi's is. I live about 70 mins from Beltsville so I finally made the trip and I am SO glad I did. First, there was a line about 20 people deep at 2 pm on a Sunday afternoon. The line moved quickly and the staff was really nice. We had the whole chicken with 3 sides and 4 cans of soda for about $25. The chicken was perfect - crisp skin, juicy meat & the white meat was not dry. The green & yellow sauce is a must (ask for extra green if you like spicy because they don't give you enough), the plantains were soft with crispy ends & the beans were well seasoned. My only complaint was it was a little loud but perfect for bringing young kids. They had some other delicious looking items on the menu so I can't wait to come back again soon!

The food here is amazing. I tried a few different menu items but I usually get the same thing, and it's consistently delicious. Aside from their amazing chicken, their gyros are outstanding, their yuca is fantastic and their white and yellow sauces are incredible. Their dressing for their house salad is also amazing.

Maybe it was the time? Near closing on a Friday? I finally decided to visit Sardis after moaning about the aromas of their food every time I stopped at the WaWa close by. This should have been my first indicator that something was off. After climbing out my car, there was no aroma. I figured this was reasonable due to arriving the last hour. Unfortunately, the chicken was extremely bland and the skin was detached from the rest of the chicken and shriveled. The other quarter dark piece was the same. I've been to only three places selling similar chicken and I've never had an experience in which the chicken was so bland. I didn't think it was possible either with their concoction of seasonings. Anyhow, thankfully, the delicious sauces helped greatly. I did notice that their sauces taste more fresh and homemade than other places. The pinto beans and veggies were very good. Their entire buffet in display behind the glass looked impressive. Just as lovely were the handsome men serving. They were nice and generous and charming...very warm service. I think my experience is not a true reflection of this place and I just came at the wrong time on the wrong day and just happened to get pieces of imperfect chicken. This happens. So I do plan to visit them during busier hours when the aroma is intoxicating as usual. I give them only three stars solely based on the taste of the chicken. Everything else, was great.

On a Sunday after church this place is poppin'! The line was all the way out the door but most of it was to go so there were still plenty of open tables to sit. I thought I'd try something different this time so I got the carne asada with black beans and rice and green beans. I had to get a side salad too because last time it was so freakin' good! The carne was soo tender but throughly cooked, how do they do that?! It was perfect. The only problem was they only have plastic knifes lol. The carne has crazy flavor and is topped with all the mushrooms, onions and peppers it was cooked with - my fav! The green beans were yummy as usual, just enough crunch to them still with perfect amount of season. I was a little disappointed with the black beans and rice, won't be getting that side next time, just bland and boring. I always have leftovers for lunch the next day but I usually end up eating them for dinner that same night. I can't help it! I want more, I want more, I really like it, I want more!

  • Billy S.

My girlfriend and I love Sardi's chicken. Their pollo a la brasa is fresh and their side dishes are great too. My favorite two items are the Yucca and Rice. They serve you quickly and have lots of beverage options. You can an Inka or a coke if you choose. Their whole chicken and two sides deal is what my girl and I get the most. We never finish all of the chicken, but we bring the leftovers home for a great second meal. The parking lot can be tough to maneuver during rush hour, but Route 1 in Beltsville sucks. If you are looking for a great meal in CP and don't want to spend an arm and a leg, definitely check out Sardi's!

I'm digging it. The music, the low key atmosphere and all those hard working employees - cranking out food orders, rotisserie lined chickens and heaps of ready made plantains, fries and so on. What's a newbie like me to order? The dude in line, next to me, has ordered half a chicken, with a heap of white rice and red beans on top. I nearly follow his queue, but opt for the string beans and roasted white potatoes. While the hubby, orders marinated fried chicken cubes, with fries and Peruvian corn. My kid says he's not hungry - well, we know how this ends. Good thing I ordered the half chicken, for my kid polished off a nice-sized portion and a good quantity of those string beans. He even mixed the spicy green sauce with the yellow sauce, making quite a yummy concoction. The chicken was moist and flavorful. The hubby snatched some skin from my chicken, but that's okay, cause I polished off his salsa; I think that's what that was. A very small portion of pickled red onion/tomato/carrot & sweet red pepper, in a zingy juice of lime and cilantro. To my amazement, the string beans were fresh and my potatoes, yummy - especially when dipped into the yellow sauce. Sometimes the hubby is happy with going to new food places, due to Yelp reviews and other times; he just wants his tried and true. Happy to say that this is one of our now, "tried and true" to go places.

So I live in California now but when I come home I always make a trip to Sardi's. Here are just a few reasons why: 1. I just drooled thinking about the chicken I'm going to eat later. 2. White or dark meat: it's always juicy and delicious. 3. SIDES?!?!?!?!?! YES. OPTIONS. DEMOCRACY. Democracy of deliciousness. 4. Giant portions. You will never leave hungry..or sad..or able to walk (because you are so full of comida) 5. Just go now. 6. Stop reading. Seriously. Drive, bike, fly, donkey to Sardi's. You get the point.

What to say, what to say. How about AWESOME? Yeah, that works. Sardi's was awesome, and I never would've guessed, but fortunately a friend in the area directed me here and we had some awesome food. The 1/4 chicken was enough to fill me up, and I'm not easily satiated. Along with the two sides, I went fro fried rice (chicken) and Yuca (fried), I couldn't even finish my plate. For a place that comes in at under $10 with a drink I was blown away. The chicken was perfectly cooked and spiced perfectly. I wish I could say there was something wrong, but there really wasn't. Aside from the ten minute wait the worst part would be the styrofoam plates they used that aren't biodegradable, but i'm not the saving the earth type of person anyway. The fried rice was a little sticky but full of flavor and the yuca was tasty, chewy and all kinds of fried goodness. Though I doubt I'll be in College Park again any time soon I'm sure if I am I'll definitely go to Sardis again. In fact, after writing this review I'm craving it right now.

Delicious! Got carryout since I was going up to Baltimore for an O's game and we needed some pregame food. Got 2 1/4 chicken dishes with 2 sides, one dark and one white. The chicken was cooked just right and juicy with some good seasoning. My sides of cole slaw and fried plantains were ok, not great. My friend enjoyed hers as well with beans and rice and french fries (her side dishes seemed better than mine). The servings were plentiful. No complaints there. I was in and out in less than 5 min, which was perfect since I was in such a hurry. I will be going back when I need quick carryout that isn't fast food.

My first experience at Sardi's Pollo A La Brasa was a great intro to Peruvian chicken for me. I had the 1/2 chicken - marinated and charbroiled. The spices were awesome! Rice and beans were good but the rice was a little dried out. I'm overlooking the rice because the chicken was just too good. The Peruvian Green Sauce, I believe it's called Aji, has to be one of the best dipping sauces around! I'll definitely head back to this place.

  • Victor P.

Although it's known for chicken, we tried the lamb chops (shared between myself and my wife) and the pork chops (for our son), with fried cassava, steamed vegetables, and beans on rice for sides. A bit on the greasy side, but we didn't mind because it was delicious. Dine-in experience was noisy at 8PM, but in a good way. Would I go back? Yup.

The line out the door should have been the indicator that the food was going to be great. I had a half of a chicken the brown rice and the black beans and the green beans and the yucca fries. The chicken smelled delicious and tasted better than any rotisserie chicken with enough salt and flavor for my particular taste buds. Everything was great. Please try.

Hands down to the best food in the area. The staff is super helpful and friendly. Prior to my first visit, I have never had Peruvian/Mexican. I had believed the amazing green sauce came with the chicken is guacamole - hey don't judge - and they explained everything to me. I would've thought I have had those weird fries all the time if they did not tell me those are yuca. Don't be intimidated by the big line. They are so fast that you will be done with a 1/4 chicken meal before you realize.

    (5)
  • Krystle T.

These guys are fast, the food is simple, and the price is right. If you're in the mood for flavorful roasted chicken and don't have too much time to waste, then Sardi's in the place for you. 1/4 chicken with 2 sides for about $8 is their most popular dish for a single person, but they have family meals (whole chicken, 4 sides, 4 cans of soda), and other dishes as well. The line is long, but it goes fast. They do not skimp you on the sides. What I didn't like was how oily everything was. I have a pretty high tolerance for oily foods, but it was a little excessive here. All the sides were pretty much drenched in oil.

    (4)
  • Koral S.

Everything here is delicious ... some of the best pollo a la brasa I've had. I love the side options - usually get the green beans and then switching out the other. Last time I got the arroz chaufa - delicious. The fried yuca and cole slaw is also a winner combo here. G's comment - chicken skin tone - perfectly browned, spices - taste like they been marinated in for 2 days. If you are anywhere close to the area, it's worth it! Koral and G

This place was something else! I mean it was a bit of rive to get there for lunch during work, but man was it worth it. Went here with a group of folks from work because someone suggested it. It sounded pretty good and I was ready for some Pollo goodness! The place is not all that big, but we did not have a problem sitting around noon. The line moves steadily and the menus are pretty clear. My food took a bit longer becvause i ordered the Churrasco De Pollo (is that how you spell it?) no matter how you spell it, it was delicious. I never had such good charbroiled chicken before. I was really exciting about all the side choices as well. I got the rice and plantanes! OMG the plantains were amazing. I wish i had some right now as i type this up. The place itself is a bit small, like I mentioned, but the way it is set up inside is quite nice. It is clean and everyone that works there is super friendly and helpful. Come here for good people, good pollo, and general good times!

Good reviews for a darn good reason! I love how fresh everything is and the fact you can sit down and not have to wait to eat or be waited on! Come here hungry because you really get a huge BANG! For your buck! For 2 people, for $17.50 we got the whole chicken and 2 sides which was enough to feed us lunch & dinner! The cool thing is its pretty healthy and you don't leave feeling too too full! Near Costco also. Eat before you shop ;-)

  • Gary G.

I usually love Sardi's, but they missed the mark today. I ordered Churrasco de Pollo which was ok, and Seco de Carne. The Seco de Carne didn't have the sweet peas that the menu mentioned. The short ribs had almost no meat on it. If Im going to pay more for an entree, I would hope that it would have a decent amount of meat. Unfortunately 3 of the 5 ribs were almost bare, meaning that there was barely any meat in the order. They were pretty tasty, but there wasn't enough to enjoy. Not sure that i'l be going back any time soon.

  • Nilo R.

This place just has everything going for it. Their chicken is very very good (especially if you eat it there so that the skin stays crispier). They serve you a good amount of sides (not like other places that seem to count every grain of rice). Sauce is great. Price is good. Grilled items like the chicken churrasco are great. Line moves fast (you'll have to do a 10 minute line but it moves). As others have said, if you eat there ask for the to-go container when they serve you so you can take left overs. Highly recommended!

Great place! If you go in a group get the whole chicken. The moist chicken is charcoal broiled and is very flavorful with crispy skin. The whole chicken comes with two sides and three sodas. The green beans, plantanos, and beans and rice are all great options. They definitely do not skimp on the portions and it's for a great price! They also offer a white sauce, a garlic sauce (my favorite), and a green sauce (spicy but good). There is usually fresh fruit juice and a cinnamon rice drink. The place is very crowded (for good reason!) and but moves pretty quickly. Definitely a place to try, you won't regret it!

Omg. First official foodgasm since moving to MD. The chicken, even the white meat, was super moist. The skin was flavourful, and while not crispy per se, it wasn't super fatty either, easy to eat with the meat. Of course their green salsa was amazing on both the chicken and fried yucca. Oh yeah, I'd definitely say get the yucca over like... fries. The line was really long, but we got through quickly, with taking our food to go. This is probably one of the better ways to get their food when it's as busy as it was tonight. But t ihe interior was well lit and decorated, very inviting, even while jam-packed with people. And while there's plenty of other stuff on the menu that looks fantastic, you gotta go with the chicken for the first time, right? And while we're on menu "problems" there are so many great looking sides, it's hard to pick the first few to try. I expect we'll have tried them all within a month. Cost for all this insane deliciousness, (two half chickens each with 2 sides, and a can of "inca kola")? $20. Seriously. For less than such a meal might cost at a like "restaurant" restaurant, you can get 2 whole meals that are plenty of great food. I overheard someone else in line say "But you'll be able to say you were here before they got huge." And that I wouldn't doubt. They're already starting to spread out (I think 3 locations in the area) and I wouldn't be surprised that the combination of amazing flavor, price, and speed would make for a wonderful franchise chain we could expect to see regionally within 5 years.

Got one family meal, 7 of us ate and had a food coma! Amazing chicken and fried yuca, no complaints at all.

Either I was eating at different restaurant (not) or the Chef was having an off day. My quarter white was so dry it was inedible. The white rice had a peculiar - not pleasant - taste. SO not impressed I ran across the street to Weis grocery for something to eat. Maybe it was the lack of magic sauce?

Love! The chicken is always moist, fresh, and seasoned perfectly. The fried rice, which has pieces of the amazing chicken, is super savory and I could eat 20 tubs of it! Their fried yuca is always super fresh. I could basically pour both their green and yellow sauces all over everything I eat. Huge fan!

Went to dinner here after a trip to ikea....the chicken is the best I've ever had so fresh and juicy and flavorful! The sides are also great, green beans, rice, black beans, and yucca are all great choices! The first time I went here I tried their steak and that was great too! Can't go wrong!

You will be addicted... Black Beans over rice, sweet Plantains, Peruvian Chicken. You will never eat chicken at Boston Market again. Be warned, the line is long on Fri & Sat nights, average wait about 10 minutes or less. Everything is hot and fresh, and smells as good as it tastes.

I've previously had Sardi's twice and it was because someone purchased the food for a gathering. Today I went to the Capital Heights location and was blown away by the amount of people waiting in line. I thought to myself..they must really have something here. I got the De Casa which is a salad with chicken. I don't know if it was the chicken or the house dressing but I couldn't make it out of the parking lot without finishing the salad. It was soooo good. I was like this chicken is so flavorful better than when I had it from those gatherings I attended. My only request to open a location closer to me...Like in Bowie preferable in Upper Marlboro...like somewhere on 301...There is a new shopping center on 301 where you guys would fit in perfectly. I hope someone read this. I want to go back for dinner.

So where do I start, Sardi's Pollo a La Brasa is a great place to order out from. If you want to sit down and eat you might have to wait a while. The restaurant is well kept and clean but it's always super busy. I decided to order takeout which was delicious. The Sardi Salmon was great and the plantains were cooked very well. The plantains were not too oily or soft, I was definitely impressed with their ability to prepare large amounts of food with consistency and quality. The price was also fair. You will definitely get your money's worth. I also liked the option for white meat chicken which matters to a lot of people who are willing to pay more for better meat. The food ordering process is very organized, my orders were filled correctly but the wait time was a bit long. I would definitely recommend Sardi's Pollo a La Brasa to anyone that enjoys well cooked chicken, salmon, pork chops or steak paired with delicious side dishes like fried yucca or plantains. Not a big fan of sitting down to eat here but I would order take out from Sardi's anytime.

Let me tell you right now. Well worth the money. It is so good and I never regret getting it, EVER. Favorite is always the classic: half chicken with two sides. GREEN BEANS!!!!! Portions are great! Most people can't finish a $10 meal. And when you get it to-go, they pack in as much of the sides as they can for you. SO GOOD!!

WTH? Who let the secret out about this place?? It expanded to 6 locations or something... Can we get one in Charlotte too pretty please?? The. Best. Peruvian. Chicken. Ever. All sides are so tasty, portions huge. Staff is Awesome! Plan for long lines but Totally worth it. My hint (which I'm sure many of you know already): mix the yellow and green salsas and dip Everything in it!!

  • Bob B.

Sardi's has one of the best charbroiled chickens in the area. The chicken is cooked seasoned perfectly and the price is very affordable. I recommend getting the family meal with whole chicken and 2 large sides. Today I decided to go with the Mixed Grill which comes with 1/4 chicken, carne asada, skewer of shrimp, chorizo and two sides for $16. It was a lot of food but It was so good I finished the whole thing. There are always consistent with the food they make here and very friendly. Sometimes it gets really crowded it here, but it is worth the wait.

This is my favorite chicken place. Ordered the whole chicken special for 24 and split between 4 of us! Best deal ever! Comes with 3 large sides and 4 cans of soda! I of course love how they keep the chicken moist and with a yummy crispy skin! Their yuca fries are delicious too! Sardis FTW!!

  • Kevin D.

Delicious Peruvian chicken! The meat comes right off the bone and is tender, along with seasoned skin. 5/5 Fried yucca could use a little work though. Some pieces are fried more thoroughly than others, but the nicely fried ones taste delicious 4/5 Fried rice was decent. No complaints here 4/5 Cole slaw was a little heavy on the black pepper for my liking 4/5

My dearest Sardi's, Where shall I begin in professing my love for you? Perhaps I should begin with one of the sonnets of the Bard himself, William Shakespeare, who famously wrote: "Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate: Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, And summer's lease hath all too short a date: Sometimes too hot the eye of heaven shines, And too often is his gold complexion dimm'd: And every fair from fair sometimes declines, By chance or natures changing course untrimm'd; By thy eternal summer shall not fade, Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest; Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade, When in eternal lines to time thou growest: So long as men can breathe or eyes can see, So long lives this and this gives life to thee." Now... I don't know what the hell any of that means, but Sardi's is DAMN DELICIOUS. Love, Me

This restaurant was my first try at eating Peruvian food. I don't think I was disappointed, nor was I was greatly impressed. I got the 1/4 white chicken with french fries and vegetables. My friend got the 1/2 chicken with plantains and arroz chaufa. Maybe I'm just not a huge fan of chicken, but I enjoyed the sides a lot more, especially the plantains and arroz chaufa. My friend and I were completely lost on what we should order, and the guy in front of us asked if it was our first time. We sheepishly said yes and asked what he would recommend. He then walked us through what he typically gets. I think this speaks for how the restaurant keeps folks coming regularly and that the service must be great. The restaurant was also very clean. It's a nice place to eat in at!

FINALLY! I've heard so many good things about this chicken and now I have tried it! There's another place I go and love it! This place is pretty good. The plantains are fab and the rice a meal in it's self. The location was bustling and offered fun music. This fast casual spot is great and offers a great selection of sandwiches, salads, and sides. I still prefer the other places chicken but the sides and atmosphere will have me coming here.

The best Pollo a la brasa I've had. They have other items on the menu but I've never tried them. The chicken and green sauce is awesome! Just enough spice. The black beans are flavorful and the plantains are fried perfectly.

  • Laurah J.

I love love love Sardi's. I usually get the Pollo Churasco, with black beans and plantains. I couldn't ask for a more delicious or flavorful meal. The sauces are also just to die for. The food is always hot, fresh and SOOOO tasty.

Best chicken ever, I always have to eat here when I come home from school. I love eating my chicken with all the sauces plus the yucca and Peruvian fried rice is Ah-mazing!!!!!!!!!! My dad had the lamb chops and he enjoyed them!!!

Sardi's is basically Chipotle as far as popularity and a go to what you are hungry and the first thing that comes to mind. The are in no way like Chipotle as they offer a large dinner menu. Again this place is good when you have people willing to stand in line for 20 minutes to get your order taken as you walk through and tell the staff what you want. They are known for their rotisserie chicken, becuase their chicken is moist and tender even for white meat. Somehow they have discovered the formula to getting the flavor to reach all the way to the bone! When i go i get my usual 1/4 dark with fried rice and plantains. They are definitley not skimpy as they take their serving spoon and take huge scoops and plop them into your container as they would in school cafeterias. I normally cant finish my order unless im being a true glutton, but the food is just that good. They now have several locations. The most popular on is in College Park, MD but they have one in Laurel which i think people are now starting to know about that one as the lines aren't as long, but the quality and service is the same no matter which one you go to! They give you these three sauces and they are labled white sauce, yellow sauce, green sauce LOL. I take the green one which is like a green chili and it compliments whatever you are eating with. and the yellow sauce which is tart but honestly i have no idea what the sauces are but they are really good so dont be afraid to experiment as they arent really hot sauces. Overall I love Sardi's!

  • Rachel C.

I love their food!!!! So good. Everything is fresh, and the workers are nice. The door is very heavy to open and close when leaving and coming so be careful not to hurt yourself, and if you have little ones watch their fingers! :)

  • Nathan O.

EDIT:..... 3 sauce limit for a 1/2 chicken?!?! cmon.... Best pollo in the area. yellow sauce is the jam. Yuca , family specials. Chicken is juicy , service has always been friendly and fast (despite the lines), watch futbol there, and overall a good time. Since it's busy alot , the turnover of food is good meaning hot food. Some of the other pollo spots in town have chicken sitting around a little too long and dry out in my opinion. TIP OF THE DAY: make sure you know the sauce limit rules. Sardis is strict on the number of sauces they give out and if you ask for up to the limit, they will oblige. Yellow is my fav.

It's cheap, and it's delicious. The long line goes quickly because they run a tight ship. I usually don't eat rice and beans because most places make them bland, but the rice and beans here were flavorful. The chicken is tasty. Their branded sauces are also tasty. I have no complaints.

    (5)
  • Mike C.

Very good at what it does. I highly recommend the chicken and salmon dishes. I found the steak to be somewhat disappointing, but not bad for the price point. Shrimp were overlooked and rubbery. Fries can be very good to excellent if you like steak-cut fries. Garlicky green beans are the side that we enjoy most. Roasted red potatoes are also good. The green sauce they provide, somewhat spicy, is delicious and goes great on the chicken and fries. A good option for a quick, low-key meal.

  • Booze B.

What a great find... quick, cheap and super tasty. Got the chicken souvlaki. It came with multiple sauces, pita, rice and salad. The chicken was flavorful and tender. The best of the sauces was a spicy green sauce. The place was packed the entire time I was there. Looks like a local favorite.

  • Jin K.

The food is absolutely amazing. Anything you get here will taste good. Huge portions as well. I normally order the Lomo Saltado or the 1/2 chicken and two sides. There is no other Peruvian restaurant in the area that can even compare to Sardi's.

    (5)
  • Ambrish K.

I seriously don't know where to start. This place is just so great! That chicken! woof!..I don't know how slow they roast that chicken, because it is delicious. So soft and tender, it will melt in your mouth. A few of us went and we each ate an entire chicken, and didn't even realize this. The green/yellow sauce is amazing too! Overall, if you are in the DC/VA/MD area, you should not miss this place. Unbelievable! Verdict: Do not miss! Must visit!

Sooo good. Do yourself a huge favor and eat there now! We found this eatery while visiting relatives in the College Park area. On our recent visit we at Sardis 3 times in 4 days. Yes we love it that much. Chicken, green beans, fried plantains, fried rice, black beans and rice. It's all good.

I was in the area checking out a local furniture store. After going through a coupe of options on Yelp I settled on this place - since I always love some authentic Peruvian chicken. We arrived at the restaurant around 3:30, which is usually off peak business hours for most restaurants, but not Sardi's. The place was slammed and justifiably so. There were a lot of other tempting items on the menu other than the famous chicken, but I wanted to try what made the place popular. I ended up getting the whole chicken meal which came with three sides and was less than $25 (it was for 3 people). The chicken was boldly spiced, the skin had a nice crispness to it and the meat was juicy with a good smoky/rotisserie flavor. Not sure how they manage to do this but the breast meat was perfectly tender and juicy, while the dark meat wasn't undercooked. The chicken is so good your almost tempted to put down the nice/fork and just dig in with you bare hands. The sides are also very respectable. We settled on the rice/beans, the plantains and the house salad. The house salad seemed like a safe bet but even that was good - greatly benefitting from the house made spicy and creamy dressing. The rice and beans were also very good, although not amazing. The plantains, however, were just flat-out awesome. They seemed to be roasted instead of fried although I couldn't be too sure, either way they were almost melt in your mouth tender with the perfect amount of natural sweetness. The family meal also included a couple of cans of soda with it too, so clearly it was a good value and much better than any other fast food option in that price range. Only thing missing was some good Cuban or Latin style coffee to wake you up from the ensuing food coma.

I am a frequent visitor of the Sardi's located in Capitol Heights, MD. I went to this one after planning a visit to Yia Yia (Greek spot a few doors down) and they weren't open. As always the chicken was on point. I have to admit that the customer service was a step above the other location. I don't get bad customer service at the Capitol Heights location...it's just that they were a lot more personable and cheerful here. It was very windy and cold the night we went there and it felt the same inside. Maybe from the door opening and closing so much but if they could figure out how to keep it warm in there that would make for a much more comfortable dining environment. Aside from that I do not have any complaints.

Oh my! Sardi's and I have a long history together. This place is the best Peruvian spot I've ever been too. I do not live in the area so whenever I'm in town it is a must. I usually always get the ultimate grill its a combination of chicken, carne asada, chorizo, and grilled shrimp. I always always get the green sauce it is my favorite. All of the side items they have are great expect the corn on the cob. Now, if you have had Peruvian corn than by all means you know what I am speaking of but for those who have not it is nothing like the traditional. It's oversized kernels looks simply amazing but when bitten, inside has the texture of mashed potatoes. It was not a great experience for me but you may love it just not my preference. Anywho, as I was saying food is great. The customer service is awesome as well. The place is usually always packed but normally you can always get a seat. The prices are very fair for what you get I must say so. I get 6 jumbo shrimp a nice size of steak, 1 sausage and 1/4 chicken with two large sides for 16.95. I think it's well worth it. Give them a try im sure whatever you have you will definitely love.

Went to Sardi's for the first time today, I have drove pass this place for years and finally stopped. I ordered the half regular chicken, chicken fried rice and plantains for $10 and everything was great! I will go back someday soon.

The setting is a fast food style that is great for friends and family. ultimate mixed-grill was good. it takes a bit of time to prep my dish, but, I am forgiven when I've got treated with good food. :) The rossiter chicken is juicy and tender, just liked costco kind for $4.99. The shrimp is perfectly grill. The beef brisket steak is soft and liked fajita. The "pork" was nicely grilled as well. The fries are freshly deep fried. 4*

I actually came here by accident and I'm glad I did! The place was packed but they seemed to do a good job of keeping the line moving. I was craving a lamb gyro so that's exactly what I got. With all the sandwiches you were able to chose 1 side so I tried the fried yucca which is like a thicker, more fibery French fry haha. They also served it with 3 little dipping sauces with different levels of flavor and spice. I love the gyro, classically made. and the fried yucca was so unique but definitely satisfying! I would love to go back next time I am in the area to try what else that have to offer.

Several visits here, and zero disappointments. Huge servings, quick service, and inexpensive to boot! The pollo saltado is about as good as it gets. This is Peruvian done right. The place is generally packed no matter what time of the day you go, which is more proof of an amazing establishment. I'm not a huge fan of the Beltsville area, but at least it has a saving grace in Sardi's. A+

On our road trip, we were looking for quick, cheap food off the main road. I'm so glad we found this place because I received an enormous plate of two chicken breasts, vegetables (peas, carrots, and corn), and deliciously fried yuca for about $10. The chicken was thin but very moist, and the side sauces were well-balanced and had the perfect amount of heat. After ordering, I was given a number but wasn't sure what to do so we sat at a table for a while before wandering over to wait by the register (people were carrying their food to the table). A very nice waiter ended up carrying my food over to the table.

I've noticed this place a trillion times whilst passing on RT 1, but tonight I decided it was time to put my money where my eyes trailed. Can't ever go wrong with Peruvian chicken! The house dressing with the salad is great, especially if you're into savory dishes. It has a bit of a spicy kick, which I absolutely love! The chicken is extremely flavorful and falls right off the bone. I am a black bean girl, and these don't fail to please. Will definitely return again and again. Yelp always gets it right!

I'm going to keep it short and sweet for Sardi's. I love this location! They are located right off of Baltimore Ave in Beltsville. They have a great selection of sides and main courses, all fresh, piping hot, and filled with extreme flavor. I remember the first time I ordered from Sardi's - Everyone I knew kept raving about this place and I was in denial that anything could taste as good as they were making it out to be. What a fool I was! I always end up getting the 1/2 white chicken combo with rice and black beans, with either plantains or green beans on the side. Trust me when I say this place is heaven sent. How in the HECK does their chicken taste so good? I have had rotisserie chicken before, but nothing that tastes so succulent and juicy. They sprinkle crack on here ... I swear! Haha just joking, but why is it that while I am writing this review the Pavlov effect is happening and my mouth is starting to water. Ugh ok this is why I had to keep it short and sweet....Done! Favs: 1/2 white chicken and their flan is incredible. Wonderful service and fast delivery through GrubHub. Would Change: Nothing! :D I just appreciate you being in my life Sardi's,...I really do! You can never be replaced. Lol

My oh my! Sardis is the best Peruvian chicken u will find. The plantains, fries, rice and beans and beans are all great sides. The sauces are what makes the chicken. Mix the green and yellow and u will have heaven. Highly recommend this place.

This by far is one of my favorite Purvian restaurants in the DMV. I got the lamb chops cause I didn't fee like eating chicken but but I can tell by the sides, sauces, and portions that it would be delicious. They give amazing portions and everything has so much flavor. There green sauce is Delicious. I haven't had anything like that before.

  • Elizabeth W.

Wow! Ok, I've never been here before, but this place was great! The food was delicious and wonderful and fantastic and awesome! I should stop raving now. So, The only other Peruvian chicken I've ever had was Crisp n Juicy, which means I just need to go out and eat more chicken! But Sardi's was so good, I almost don't. I got the 1/2 chicken with rice and beans and fried yuccas. There was so much food on my plate that I couldn't finish it! Just looking at my food was making me drool. My friend got 1/4 white and couldn't finish that either! The amount of food they give you for the price is ridiculously generous. The chicken was juicy and tender and the sides were great. I will definitely be coming back to Sardi's! Service, well, it's a place where you go order your food and then seat yourself. Not much you can say about service except that they weren't rude, and that was good. They were quick and efficient and when the one server girl dropped a full cup of soda, she cleaned it up lickity split! Nothing I can really say that was bad about this place. The line was out the door at 1pm and was still long even at 2pm! I was so surprised!

Peruvian chicken is delicious, and this restaurant has a delicious take on it. I will be comparing Sardi's to my current favorite place to get Peruvian chicken, Sorry Chicken in Wheaton. The chicken here is a little more pricy than Super Chicken, about two dollars more, but is definitely close in quality. The chicken is more rotisserie style than Super Chicken's more flavorful slightly less crispy chicken. Sardi's provides a superior dining environment, better quality sides with bigger portions and better sauces. I was told by multiple people this was the best location and I would definitely return to try more of the menu. I have heard they have delicious papusa's here as well.

  • Maurice S.

I always get the half chicken with the plantains and rice and beans as sides. Its always solid and the sauces push it over the top. Additionally, it's always more food than I can eat in one sitting, and I'm a pretty big guy. For your average person this might be 2 meals for the price of one. I would recommend it to my friends, and I go with my roommate fairly often.

I realize that I will be outnumbered with my opinion, but my initial impression with my first visit to a Sardi's was just okay...not spectacular. Sardi's has an extensive menu, so no doubt by the crowds and raves some of their offerings are exceptional. On this visit, I chose mostly basic staples and was expecting more. For this first visit, I ordered a 1/2 Pollo a la Brasa (did not specify dark or white meat) and a Perucho sandwich. I also got four side orders: Arroz Chauffa, Rice & Beans, Grilled Potatoes & Green Beans. I completed my order with Inca Cola and an Arroz con Leche for dessert. _____________ THE GOOD Inca Cola - Of course it is excellent as always :-P Arroz con Leche - I knew just by looking at it that it would be on par with my other favorite Peruvian spots. It is clearly made locally, not mass produced and pre-packaged like El Pollo Campero. Very tasty. Grilled Potatoes & Green Beans - Not sure if either of these were Peruvian style, but they were both cooked perfectly and delicious. Rice & Beans - I don't know how you could mess up rice and beans, but these measured up. Pollo a la Brasa - The chicken was plump and juicy...but there is more to this story. It's definitely not what I think of as "Peruvian" chicken. _____________ THE BAD The Arroz Chauffa (Peruvian Fried Rice) was just literally fried rice...rice fried in a pan with only enough oil or soy sauce to color. There were no veggies, eggs or meat mixed in. Most disappointing. Pollo a la Brasa - The chicken had NONE of the spices that I expect from quality, authentic Peruvian chicken. It was very good chicken, but where was the Peruvian aspect? _____________ THE WEIRD Perucho Sandwich - For what this sandwich is, it took an exceptionally long time to make. The Perucho sandwich is a fried breast of chicken topped with "salsa criolla" and fried sweet potatoes. I put salsa criolla in quotes because this was NOT salsa criolla. This may have started as the delicious and distinctive onion salsa, but Sardi's mixed in mayonnaise with theirs...which drowns out the flavor. The chicken breast was seriously lacking both flavor and volume (see picture) as it was dwarfed by the other ingredients. It was an okay sandwich, but small for the cost and seriously lacking on the central part of a chicken sandwich...the chicken. Pollo a la Brasa - My half chicken had one leg (as expected) but TWO WINGS. Don'y worry, I don't think this was some gentically modified bird, I think they threw in an extra 1/4 chicken by accident. _____________ CONCLUSION Not quite the first impression that I was expecting, but I will give them another shot. Their ability to handle the huge crowds alone merit that. That said, maybe they have mellowed out the authentic flavors to cater to the crowds. They continue to expand and have an endless supply of customers, so they are doing something right.

Stopped there for a take out to eat on the road. The fried chicken with rice was crispy but moist, tender and delicious inside. All the dipping sauces came with the food were great. The onion salsa is amazing. Would definitely go back to try more when we back in the area.

Found this place a short hike away from the Holiday Inn. Sardi's gives you a large quantity of food for a low price. I ordered the Churrasco de Pollo . . .the chicken was charbroiled with a cilantro sauce and served on top of rice. I really like the flavor of the chicken and sauce that came with it. The rice was a little oily for my tastes but I should mention the two sides I ordered were fried yucca and fried plantains so I did immerse myself in a vat of oil willingly :-)

Pretty much a cut and paste of Chicken Rico on University. Sardi's though has a better location and a more diverse clientele. It's also a favorite of the local PD if that means anything. Extremely quick food service. The only thing really that needs prep work is there Pollo Salteado, which is boss and gets an A+ from me just like at Chicken Rico. Prices are super cheap. Just an easy way to get a massive amount of tasty food for cheap. Ambiance is a bit better than Chicken Rico. Have been here for take out and dine in over a dozen times. Consistant and awesome.

I love this place! First I am not a chicken person. But after tried this one I totally changed my mind on chicken. They can be as amazing as any other fancy food. Me and my girlfriend had quarter chicken with fried banana and French fries, beans. Chicken is the best chicken I have ever had. Place is also nice and clean. People are fast and friendly. I'm definitely recommending this to my friends.

The food here is simply amazing. So much flavor and kick. Place gets busy and some noise in there. They give you reasonable portions. Best Peruvian food I've eaten at since moving to the DMV

Tried the ceviche as a main course. Lovely! Shrimp and scallops as well as nice fresh white fish, nice balance of onion, cilantro, and lime juice, and marinated to a perfect state of tenderness.

Why do I give them 5 stars? 1:) Fast and fantastic service 2.) Decent prices for meals 3.) MOST IMPORTANTLY: the best Peruvian chicken you can find anywhere in the DMV area (and trust me, I've been to most). This restaurant will not disappoint you with their service and food - it's a must to try out if you are ever in the College Park area!

This was good. A little short of great because of a bunch of Things. The menu is BIG, and there's lots of great stuff on there. It's not clear what comes with what, exactly. And here's my biggest beef: The servers, who stand between a noisy kitchen and a non-quiet dining room, don't enunciate too well, and they seemed to be annoyed by people who don't hear them the first time. Their English isn't uniformly great, which isn't a problem - I love places staffed with people who grew up with the food - but I have to be able to understand. And just because you're busy doesn't mean you can give short shrift to newcomers. Not everyone is a regular. But there were TONS of regulars, and I can see why. The food is good. My corazon (heart) was excellent, tender and very flavorful. The fried sweet plaintains were perfectly carmelized. I loved the clean-tasting ceviche. A little less great: the potatoes, a salad, and the rice. The lamb chops were very good, but kind of expensive. Minor beef number 2: the value was just good. Two of us spent $40 for good food in a fast-food environment. Different, tasty, clean; OK (only) value and odd service. I'd go back, and you should try it (I LOVE corazon and lamb). But I don't think I'd make it my first choice.

This place is delicious! The chicken is always moist and well seasoned. The lines do get pretty long, but it's worth the wait. I really like the fried plantains. Got the mixed grill last time I went and it did not disappoint. Wish I lived closer.

I love this place I come here once a week and the food is always good. The best chicken rotisserie . The only thing I don't like is the music is to loud.

Best BBQ chicken In the past 15 years!! The meat fell off the bones and the taste is absolutely fantastic! The first sign was the great smell when you are at the parking lot.

I like Sardi's, just not as much as everyone else seems to. It's good for a quick and tasty meal, but it's nothing special. The sauces are the best part, by far. Be sure to ask for extra. Overall, the sides are subpar - except the yuca. Dip it in all the sauces you just got! I've tried most of the other sides, and have pretty much settled on a side salad for my second choice (the deal I always get is a quarter white + 2 sides). Also, if you're a woman and you look young, be aware that you'll probably get stared at and hit on by the men that work there. It's harmless but sometimes uncomfortable.

I came to Sardi's at 6pm on a Wednesday evening and it was not very crowded at all. Only 4 people in front of us in line. I ordered the 1/4 chicken (white meat) with green beans and rice & beans. The chicken was amazing, as nearly everyone will tell you. I ordered the green beans based on some other yelp reviews but was not impressed. They were overcooked and could have been seasoned better. The rice & beans were fantastic though! And they give you HUGE portions. I really enjoyed the salsa amarillo (the yellow sauce) that they give you. The white sauce was kind of bland, and the green sauce is just a teeny bit too spicy for me. The green was was my BF's favorite though. BF ordered fried yucca and salad for his sides. He loved the salad, so I will have to try that next time! The yucca was good, but he said he wished it had been cut a little thinner.

This was our best meal eating out in Maryland. The prices are great, and the food is better! Even on vacation, we still love Vietnamese food and Sushi! But we also like to step outside sometimes and try some good, quality food. Quarter white combo, with green beans and potatoes, and an extra side salad. The chicken was great, and juicy even for white meat! grean beans, not as crispy as I would like, but still good. Potatoes, pretty tough and dry, I'll pass next time. And the salad, ever screw up a salad? Me neither. Ceviche Mixto!!! AWESOME!!! One of my favorite things to eat anywhere. Tender seafood swimming in citrus? You gotta be out of your mind to not like this! For a more detailed explanation, and for pictures, check out Jaime Y.'s review. Not only is she absolutely beautiful, but she's a pretty darn good writer too.

The chicken is very flavorful. I really want to steal their recipe to marinate the chicken. The side dishes are even better. I love their fried yuca. Also their green pepper dipping is very good. Whenever I order take out, I can't resist to ask for more for later.

The chicken is very good . We also ordered lamb chops . It's tasty but the portion is small . They give you plenty of sauce .

The rotisserie chicken is pretty good, but the true star here (from what I've tried) is the churrasco de pollo. I was initially skeptical when this dish was recommended to me, since chicken breast is pretty much the most boring, tasteless cut of meat in the world. I know Sardi's makes good chicken in general, but I honestly didn't believe that they could make a slab of white meat taste as good as the dark meat from their rotisserie chicken. I'm glad I took the suggestion because it's now the only thing I order from here. The chicken has great flavor as it's slathered with their green parsley and cilantro marinade/sauce and then cooked on the grill until it gets some nice deep grill marks. It comes sitting on a bed of rice that tastes like magic. I don't know what they do to the rice, maybe it's just the chicken juices and charred flavor permeating each grain, but it's pretty much the best white rice ever. The dish comes with two sides, which is standard - I always get the yucca fries and green beans. The fried yucca is amazing, fried, carb-y goodness (and it's essential that they be dipped in one of Sardi's creamy sauces) but the green beans usually are over salted and overcooked. I still get them because it's the only side that's remotely healthy. The only draw back to getting the churrasco de pollo is the wait time. If you order the ready-made rotisserie chicken, they basically butcher and plate it for you as soon as you order, but all other dishes require at least 15 minutes to be cooked to order.

Great chicken every time. equally good sides also, though my favorite has always been the fried yucca. Sauces are all wonderful--though I can't remember the name of the green one, my favorite--a cucumber yogurt thing, I'm guessing? They compliment the food very nicely. The restaurant is spacious and clean. My only complaint is that they aren't within walkable distance--but they have free delivery!

Best Peruvian chicken out there! Been to many in the MD area and Sardi's is the best. Good size portions and flavor of seasoning goes right to the bones!

It was ok. Not bad, not great. Just ok. The green sauce had no flavor. Bummer! The chicken was good, as well as the yucca.

I live far away but EVERY time I am in the area I make at least one stop at Sardi's. The chicken is that good. So juicy, flavorful, delicious. Good prices. Relaxed atmosphere. I try to find a place like me near Sardi's and have not even found one as good in all of LA yet.

Sardis is a stand-out place it eat amongst the nothingness that is Beltsville. I would say it is just one level above fast food, so don't take a date there, but it's great for lunch.

Great Peruvian Chicken!! My fiance works near here and discovered this place when he went out for lunch one day. He loves trying anything that is from Central and South America. I guess he tries to fill his void of growing in California were there is plenty of great places for the Latin American taste. And it is diverse in taste!! =) So he took me here to try it out with him. We ordered the half of a Peruvian Chicken with plantains and rice. We sat down to dine there after we ordered. It is one of the best Peruvian chicken around the College Park area. I always make him bring some home once every other week. The decor of the restaurant is amusing there are chickens EVERYWHERE!! Even a chicken picture in the restroom =P.

Great food, esp the green beans, yuca, and plantains. Service is normally prompt with fairly quick check out. Although I haven't tried anything other than the 1/4 dark chicken, the other items seem to be prepared pretty well.

Best Pervian Chicken on this side of town hands down. I passed Sardi's for a long time before I stopped in. They made the best chicken. Juicy, tender, and the sauces are top notch.

  • Rachel C.

Okay, it's not quite as good as Pollo Rico. Yes, it's a nightmare getting in and out of there from Route 1. And it's crazy busy during lunch hour. But when you're in College Park and looking for some decent eats, this is one of the few options you have. The chicken is moist, flavorful, covered in spices. At times, the skin isn't as crisp as I'd like, but I'll forgive it. I always get the plantains, which are slightly caramelized and absolutely delicious; and freshly made tortillas as my sides. Look for me there in sweatpants on any given weeknight when I'm too tired or lazy to make dinner. Best Peruvian chicken in College Park by far.

Sardi's in one word - AMAZING. Seriously delicious. Skip most of the "specialties" (although I do think the lamb chops sound promising) and sandwiches and stick to the main attraction - the chicken. A quarter chicken with two sides is a good sized meal. The half size will leave you with enough for dinner and a snack later, and all for 5 or 9 bucks. The sides are not your typical throw away fries and crap either, the beans and rice come as one side and they give you a ton, and I personally recommend melt in your mouth caramelly plantains that are cooked to perfection, the fried yucca, and the green beans. People who keep saying the french fries are to die for are certainly talking about the fried yucca - looks like steak fries, tastes like heaven. As for the sauces, the white is basically ranch dressing so skip it and beg them to give you gallons of the yellow sauce. The green is peppery and crisp and mixed together they take the bird to a whole new level. If you must try the gyro or something, make sure you pick chicken. All in all an incredibly satisfying restaurant with great prices. A consistent winner.

  • Thomas S.

I've been to a couple of these restaurants, and they're all uniformly good. Sardi's is no exception. The seasoning on the chicken, the portion size, everything is just excellent. The fried plantains were just delicious, as fried plantains are in the habit of doing. The coleslaw wasn't anything to write home about, but it wasn't bad either. Should've tried something else. One thing - you walk in and get your food at the front, sort of like a cafeteria, and sit down to eat. Even though the line was fairly long when I got there, it moved very quickly. The place was packed and pretty loud, so don't go here for a romantic dinner or something - only if you are looking for good food :) All in all, very good food at a reasonable price - I'll be back!

This place is right across from my job and it always smells so good when I go outside and walk to my car. I've never had peruvian food and have found this place to be really good. Yucca Vs. Potato? Can't say there's really much of a difference. So don't feel bad if you stick to potato. Yucca just has a slightly different flavor. Fried plantains are really good. You won't need dessert if you get these. The portions are enough to make 2 meals for me.

After enduring the foul dankness otherwise known as Danny's that inhabited this converted Pizza Hut, Sardi's is a welcome, delicious change to the neighborhood. Whenever I go in I order the half chicken with black beans and rice and the green beans. It comes in right at 8 dollars and is a very filling meal. It comes with 3 different sauces, all of which are delicious. I am not a Peruvian chicken expert and I am sure there are specific names for the sauces, but I don't know them, so please excuse my ignorance. The chicken is always moist and well seasoned. All of the staff are always very polite and helpful. It's got a large dining area and therefore it is a good place to go if you have a large group or a large family.

Sardi's is a shining jewel in an area that is scarred by strip malls and chain restaurants. The chicken is fantastic. Not as good as the end-all (El Pollo Rico), but very good in its own right. The important factor that will keep me coming back to Sardi's, and not making the trek to EPR, is the sides. The green sauce is a tangy kick in the mouth. The yellow sauce is rich and complements the chicken perfectly. Both black and pinto beans are savory and well-executed. Even the salad is fresh and the green beans tasty. Fried yucca and plantains are delightful. The only issue I've had with this place, so far, was that on my last visit a few things were not as hot as they might have been. I'm sure it's a fluke though, and I won't hold it against them. I like Sardi's chicken so much that I might start exploring their other dishes. I know that's a bold thing to say about a Peruvian Chicken joint, but I am an adventurous man.

I have been to several Peruvian pollo spots in the DMV area. Some are good. Some are okay. Most have great chicken, but their sides are often mediocre at best...mere after thoughts thrown in to complement the main dish. But Sardi's...oh, how wonderful. I usually just get the 1/2 or Whole Chicken w/ 2 sides whenever I visit any Peruvian chix place. I get all-white meat and double salad (since most places' sides aren't really worth getting, so salad it is). But Sardi's chicken platters exceed the norm. They have a much more appetizing range side orders than any of the places I've been. Their chicken has been consistently moist when I ordered it. And this SAUCE they have...my goodness... (it may be the salad dressing, but they have it in the largest of the sauce cups. ASK FOR IT and try it with the chicken. It's got a light, sandy tan color). Most recently, I had the Pollo Parrillero. I was trying something new. It came with two sides, so I ordered double green beans. IT. WAS. AMAZING. The filleted chicken breasts were perfect. But the greens...AWESOME. You could tell they put just as much effort into the greens as they did the chicken. This place is a 100% winner.

Some work friends found this place over a year ago, and it's been our go-to location ever since. Then I took my wife there and she fell in love with their souvlaki (at a Peruvian place? Who cares...its scrumptious). As for me, I keep going back to try something different, but the churrasco de pollo deliciousness keeps calling to me!

Fantastic! Better than any other pollo a la brasa places in DC/NoVA/MD! We went on a Friday at 2:15pm and the place was packed with a wide variety of people - seemed like a good sign, and it was! We shared a half-chicken, a huge pile of fries, and a super generous portion of the arroz chaufa (fried rice)... and they were all so so so good! And don't even get me started on the sauces - particularly the yellow one - I could seriously probably eat anything in the world if that yellow sauce was on it. So so good. Prices are CRAZY reasonable... for all that food, and two sodas, I think we paid less than $12. Can't wait to go back and try more of the menu!

  • Clifton B.

If you want delicious Peruvian food, specifically chicken, this is the place to be. The chicken is super tasty, the sides are all great. Price is right, and they don't even make you pay extra for more sauce tubs. If it were closer to me, I'd be there more often.

I normally would say the best about Sardi's Pollo A La Brasa. We order from them through CampusFood but our last order was oh so very disappointing. On a typical Monday I had a rough day at work (@antharia) and ordered dinner, sadly the order came sans a few items and called quicly to catch the driver. Seems not only could the driver NOT get out of their car, their girl friend was driving around with them and I was destined to be sans a few items of my nom nom order for a good deal of time. The food is stellar, but the delivery is crap.

so im a newbie to the Peruvian chicken thing. after reading all these great reviews, and passing by this place virtually every day, I got a craving to try it. I was not disappointed, at all. The staff was nice, the wait was not bad at all, there were a few peole in front of me, but the line moved nicely. 3 Fresh Hot chickens came off the skewers as I was ordering and I got 1/4 white , Right away. Got it with Red Beans and Rice and Fries. Also got the 3 colored sauces, the green seemed like just pure blended jalpeno's, but the white and yellow were more flavorful. The chicken was hot and had a great flavor and the fries and Red Beans and Rice were very good. I did try another Perurv. place out in Silver Spring the day before I had this, so I could have a fair compairson from another place that got great reviews, and Sardi's was alot better. I'm looking forward to going there again. *maybe tomorrow* !! Try it out, its not going to break your bank, i got a decent sized meal, that I was able to break into bascially 1 meal and a good sized snack for less than $7.00, Definitely MUCH better than fast food. You wont be disappointed !

I have not yet eaten here, but just a note--the map on Yelp does not show the right location of this restaurant. It's actually about a mile north of the Beltway on Baltimore Ave. in Beltsville, not south of the Beltway in College Park.

My dad works in College Park & he's been raving about this place for awhile now so we finally drove down from Catonsville. It was about 7:30 on a Sunday night and the place was packed, so we decided to get takeout. The line went very quickly! We ordered a whole chicken with green beans, black beans and rice, and fried yucca as our sides. The chicken is DELICIOUS! Moist, flavorful... mmmm! I wish we had leftovers! I was not impressed with the green beans but my mom really liked them... I thought the seasoning was good but they're a bit soft and greasy/buttery, not how I like my veggies. The black beans and rice were a tad salty but I enjoyed them mixed with the green sauce they give you. The side of yucca was huge! I would get it again but only if I was eating there b/c they weren't as good reheated in the oven when we got home. Overall delicious and filling meal, I will definitely be making that trek again! :)

I have been to Sardi's about a 1/2 dozen times and each time it gets better and better and better. I actually do not go for the 1/2 or 1/2 Chicken anymore. I am totally and completely addicted to the Pollo Ever. It is 1/2 Chicken that is de-boned. It is my favorite! I am craving it right now. You have to check this place out. I love love love it.

Great service, great food, and plenty of seating! I usually get the half chicken, rice and black beans, and fried yuca. It's enough food to share with someone else, and if you get two sodas, its about $12. The mixed grill is also delicious. This place always has a steady flow of business, so the food is fresh.

I have to say that this is the best chicken there is in Maryland, Virginia and DC. I am Latina en have had Peruvian chickens, Salvadorean chickens, Colombian chickens, ( get the idea), even from its own countries, as i travel Latin America, and never have had this great of a chicken before!!! Thought that in the area nothing would come close to Pollo Rico as it was the best and i guess the measure for the others, but i honestly don't have words to describe how good this chicken is... And i see people here talk about the sauces, but that one person who says she preferred cholula has something wrong with her taste buds, go try chicken rico and senor pollo's sauce to taste what disgusting is!! As for the other entrees i would really suggest you guys to try LOMO SALTADO, yummm i can even taste it now...Oh forgot try the horchata drink too!

Decided to give this place a try after hearing a coworker rave about it. Like Su said, it's a converted Pizza Hut. The interior is nice and clean. Staff was nice and friendly and willing to explain what was what for me. I think that I paid $6 for 1/4 chicken and two sides. Not bad at all! I chose chicken, string beans and rice. Was happy with all three choices. The chicken was moist and tender and did not require a knife to peel it from the bone. Also, love the sauce ... and they gave me extra so that I could try all three flavors and did not charge me an additional fee per sauce. I'll go back. Multiple times. Eat chicken til I die.

Amazing chicken!! The DC area has tons of these Peruvian chicken places, but this one is the best one!! The chicken is extremely juicy with the perfect amount of spices and salt. Their sides are also very good. I always get their fried rice (add some of the chicken and it is amazing!!!) and their friend plantains are very sweet and plump.

Drove here on recommendation from all you fellow yelpers, and all I can say is: THANK YOU! The comments: 1. I asked for the Yelp special pricing as advertised on this site...they had no clue what I was talking about. But what's an extra 2 bucks after 240 miles? 2. The chicken is every bit as flavorful and moist as everyone says. I've had Peruvian chicken in Los Angeles before, and this blows it away by a mile. Not only in taste, but in price. 3. For sides, I got the plantains and fried yucca. Plantains were unbelievably good. I dug one out to eat in the car on the way back to the hotel, and burned my fingers, it was so hot. So good, but gotta let them cool down first! 4. Yucca? Aptly named...Yuck-a. Didn't enjoy those. Kinda greasy and too crunchy. Like a big over-fried french fry. Since there were other sides I didn't choose, this in no-way deters from the 5 star rating. 5. That green sauce was amazing!! The chicken came with 2 other sauces as well. They were good, but man, that green stuff almost made the Yucca taste good. I have to admit that I licked the little plastic lid just to get the last bit. Well worth 2 days of the "death-by-powerpoint" conference I was forced to endure. I'll be back whenever i am in the area.

Not bad but definitely good value. Ambience: Counter ordering and pretty bare, ordinary seating. The service is fast so if you're new here you may want to step aside to read the long menu. Service: Fast and busy, so you'd best not have too many questions or you'll be made to feel like your holding up the line. Food: The menu is a little schizo - on the one hand they have an interesting regional menu with a lot of variety. On the other hand they have their main money maker which is fast-food chicken. I was disappointed to sort through all the choices only to be told that they didn't have what I wanted (and hey, it was a mix of three regular menu items, so it should have been available). So I gave in and had the chicken. They pride themselves on their chicken which they must sell by the truck-load. Nice flavor, but to heavy on the salt. The sides are a welcome change from the usual fries and coleslaw at, say, a KFC. Portions were more than enough for anyone which is probably a big reason the place is packed. Price: Good value for money, especially for the chicken. You could get 1/4 chicken plus two side for under $10, but the more interesting items will run you $12-14. Makes it hard to put the $$$ rating below. Go there for a chicken lunch and hope for the best if you want to try their South American specialties.

Ate at this place way too many times while at school at U of Md/working in Beltsvile. The most awesome and flavorful chicken I've ever had, top notch sides such as fried yucca, rice & beans, and plantains complement the food very well. And at $8 for a half chicken and two sides, price is unquestionable

I love Sardi's! They make the very best chicken with a kick. I always order the family meal because I end up sharing it with my friends. Go for the chicken....it just melts in your mouth of yummmyness. The side orders are awesome too. The side orders they got are fried plantations, green beans with onions, fried rice, white rice, fried yuka, french fries, red potatoes, black beans, and etc.. Another thing, they have these sauces that go with meal. They got a white, yellow and green sauce. Green is extremely hot, yellow is mild (highly recommended) and white is very bland. It's very casual and service is decent.

A definite 4 star experience. Came with the family. Ate there, a butt-load of food for a very reasonable price. The chicken was delicious, rotisseried over charcoal. Nicely seasoned but not over the top. Juicy meat. Sides of yucca (ok), plaintains (delicious), fries, fried rice. Dipping sauces were ok. Green was the best, while the white one had a strange flavor to it that I couldn't identify. Almost tartar-sauce like as if that tartar sauce had been made with a mild tasting Miracle Whip. Also tried the Grilled Beef Hearts. Very interesting and glad I tried them. A bit of a "gamey" taste but very flavorful. Got some respect from the employees there for sampling them. Not a bad place to eat in, filled with Latino families, hungry Latino workers, etc. . . and a few stray non-Latinos who know good food and good value. I will be back!

Best Peruvian food I've ever had!! Highly recommend the whole chicken with 2 large sides. Can't beat the price, value, and taste! The college park location is great, but often is packed during dinner time. The Laurel location is bigger and less busy.

Can I give Sardi's more than 5 stars?!?! We love good food and good customer service. This place has it all. Although, I always take my food to go because I just want to enjoy my delish Peruvian chicken in the comforts of my own home as I wear my stretchy pants. (I literally eat for 3 people). The best chicken ever and don't even get me started on the sauces. The people are very pleasant to the customers and always smile. They have good customer service down. The owner is a very friendly man and is so kind and helpful. Beware this place is always a madhouse and that's only because everyone knows it is food that will not disappoint.

I see what all the hype is about. I've been to my fair share of Peruvian chicken joints but hadn't ever been to Sardi's. I was missing out! The chicken was on point, the green bean side was so good it makes me drool just thinking about it! The yuca was fried to perfection, the plantains were sweet and moist, and the sauces were perfect. The prices for HUGE portions were excellent as well. Sardi's gets a rare 5 stars from me!

While I was in undergrad I used to make it a point to come here at least once a month. Because I don't live around DC anymore I really miss Sardi's (almost as much as the amazing pho place across the street). The chicken is amazing, on the same level as Nando's. I always get the half dark with rice and beans with fries but the other sides are just as good. I've had the plantains, green beans, and coleslaw and they're all great. Usually whenever I'm there I go for the chicken, but the other stuff on the menu is really good as well (the chorizo sandwich in particular), but everything else takes some time to come out. If you are in the College Park area, this is definitely a place you need to try.

Best Peruvian chicken in DC metro area. Also if you like plantains get them. One of the best around. If you are near one I strongly suggest you visit.

The best in the entire Capital area. I've tried many of these type in the NOVA/DC/MD area and this one is BY FAR the BEST of them all. The Crisp & Juicy in Rockville would follow this one but with a 3 star. I live in NOVA and I wish we had one here. Been to the College Park location a good 20+ times and only once the Yucca wasn't to my expectations. I've always had the chicken, so I'm not sure how is the rest of the menu, but their fried yucca and "Arroz Chaufa" (fried rice) are excellent. In fact if you go to this place I think the "Arroz Chaufa" is a must. Their service is excellent as well and their sauces also very good. In all the other places something disappoints me, being the sauce, yucca, service; but in Sardi's all is great.

I've been to this place twice, and its just doesn't impress me. I chicken is good, but i really don't like the sides. Just an okay for me...

Sardi's is quite simply the best chicken I have found in Maryland. Hot, juicy, incredibly flavorful, it has never disappointed me. The sides are great as well--I always have to get a pile of fried yuca and rice with black beans (I usually manage to steal some of the green beans and plantains from my wife's plate as well). Drench it all in the delicious aji sauce, and you have a meal fit for a king. The portions are huge, and the prices are very reasonable. For less than 10 bucks, I get a pile of food I can barely hope to finish. The restaurant is no fine dining. Don't expect table service, and it looks a bit run down. That shouldn't scare you away though. The food is too good to pass up.

I've been to many many pollo a la brasa places (mostly in NoVa) and this is, hands down, my favorite. The chicken is so juicy and flavorful and the have so many sides to choose from (the white rice and roasted potatoes are my standard sides and never disappoint)! Weekday lunch lines are usually pretty long, but don't let it deter you -- they move pretty fast. And I love that there is plenty of parking.

Best Peruvian Chicken in town. Moist tender chicken with the best green and mayo sauce. Lots of sides to choose from. We usually get the whole chicken (4 large pcs) and 3 sides with the free 2 liter soda bottle for lunch. That will run u about $23. Lunch time is packed and sometimes line can go out the door. This is one place i would take someone visiting from out of town to.

Yes 5 stars! I really liked it. I got the 1/4 dark chicken with 2 sides. The chicken was juicy, the meat tender, and the 3 sauces--nothing wrong could be said about them! The green one was so spicy, but so good... and as I was eating, my tongue burned but it was a nice warm burn. The two other sauces, one was mayo-like and the other was ranch-like I believe? The two sides were a great compliment. The jumbo fries were strangely flavorful, had low expectations tasting them but BOY DID IT CATCH US BY SURPRISE! Vegetables were nice, bit salty but thats ok. Plantines were warm and sweet and oily. Needless to say, I was very satisfied at the end of my meal. Had to pop open the first button on me jeans--yessir.

Sardi's is like if Boston Market and Pollo Compero were both amazing and wrapped up together. Sardi's is magical! Magical I say! When you walk in, you are greated by the sight of dozens and dozens of chickens rottiserie-style, but this isn't like Boston Market, this is good. They aren't just on a rottiserie, they are over charcoal! You have a choice of 1/4 or 1/2 white or dark. I always order 1/4 dark because I think that dark meat is for people who make good decisions. The chicken is quartered right in front of you by some dude who means business and keeps getting piled higher and higher with chickens fresh off the spit. Next it's on to sides! Bear in mind the portion sizes for the sides are colossal. The served digs in with huge tongs and pulls out an amazing hunk of side and then puts even more on top trying to balance it all. Okay the sides I've tried have all been amazing, except one. Amazing sides are: white rice (I like to eat it alone, because it is so perfect but you can get beans on it), black beans and seasoned rice, plantains, green beans, and potatoes (I suspect they cook these in chicken drippings because I don't understand how they can be this good!). The only side that I felt was kinda meh was the coleslaw. I can't get enough of this place! If you are wise with your side items, you can kind of convince yourself that you're eating healthy. Oh, they have a lot other peruvian specialties, but they all cost more and the chicken is perfect - $5.95 for 1/4 dark and two sides. It really doesn't get better than this.

Really dislike this place. I think it gets all the good reviews because it is in a better part of town than the other chicken places down 193, and probably cuz its much closer to student housing. Theres something about this chicken that is just nauseating. The "juiciness" just oozes out of the chicken. If you let all this "juice" cool you see it is just pure fat. I hate the coleslaw and the fries are standard. Sauces do not stack up to don pollo or chicken rico. Just as expensive as anywhere else. Overall see nothing to distinguish this place other than the whiter clientele than comparable restaurants in the area. By the way, nothing about this food is "healthy" A.P. "Meh. I've experienced better."

Went for a first visit here on a Sunday afternoon and the place was hopping. They have quite a big menu compared to the other Peruvian places I've been to. It's a pretty casual place, you order at the counter, and if they can make it quickly, you take it with you, otherwise they'll bring it to your table. The food was quite good, particularly the sauces. I had a chopped chicken sandwich with a side of yuca fries, and the SO had lomo saltado. Both were a bit greasy, but the flavor was good and everything tasted fresh. Next time I would like to try more items from the Peruvian specialty side of the menu.

An hour and half after ordering, I finally called to see where my order was. They said they were busy and that it might be another 20 minutes or more - 2 hours or more for some chicken? Seriously? Essentially they couldn't tell me where my food was and when it might be delivered or even if it would be. All this and they managed to be rude about it. Lame.

I conquered Sardi's Pollo a la Brasa using a complex 7 step process I call Operation P.O.U.L.T.R.Y. [Cue Wagner's "Flight of the Valkyrie"] Part 1: Preparation At about midday, I biked 15 miles, then ran 3 more miles, then spent an hour in the gym doing ab exercises. I became hungry. Part 2: Observation yelp.com/biz_photos/XOGy… I observe the delicious mass of poultry rotating in front of me, as I think to myself, "I could probably eat this whole rack right now." Part 3: Unrest yelp.com/biz_photos/XOGy… I wait in the line, still packed at 8:30 PM, while I ruminate about how much I'm going to annihilate this chicken. Part 4: Longanimity yelp.com/biz_photos/XOGy… I watch intently as the guy behind the counter takes a huge knife to the chicken and splits it in half with one motion. I select the two sides I want. He passes the plate down the well-staffed line. Part 5: Transferring I mention to the cashier that I saw the special offer on Yelp. He says, "You better give us a good rating!" By that time, I had pretty much already made up my mind what the rating would be, he didn't have to say anything. I pay him $6 for a half chicken with two sides and make my way to the table to enjoy it. Part 6: Reckoning yelp.com/biz_photos/XOGy… As you can see in the Before/After picture above, the chicken clearly didn't want to remain on the plate. I facilitated its request by vacuuming the meat off the bones and skin while dipping the yucca and russet potatoes in the various sauces on the side. The spicy gaucamole tasted homemade, with a very distinct avacado flavor. The spicy mayo was actually pretty good, and I usually don't like mayo. The potatoes appeared to have a simple pepper seasoning, but upon tasting it seemed more like a secret recipe than anything else. Part 7: Yearning As I finished the last bit of meat on a thigh bone, I thought to myself "Man, I wish lived closer to here. I'd come here for lunch every day." I really want more! It was so good. This is the best Peruvian chicken I've had in a long long time.

This place has THE best food, and it's the best Pollo a La Brasa I've gone too. Sometimes it takes a little longer for your meals if you're not getting just the chicken and sides (I'm very partial to their combination platter with beef, chicken, and shrimp....*drools*). It's always clean, the staff is always friendly and they do keep track of their online orders.

My family is addicted to Sardi's, and I'm beginning to wonder what sort of addictive substance they're putting in the food. Secret Peruvian spices? Love? Whatever it is, it's DELICIOUS. Order at the counter, get a number, and sit down - if you can find a table during peak hours. This place is popular. As Peruvian chicken goes, it's good stuff. Perhaps not the best ever, but consistently tasty. The menu is far more extensive than other restaurants in the area, and this is where Sardi's really shines. They've got you covered for much more than rotisserie chicken. You can get chicken breasts, skirt steak, ceviche, and even skewers of beef hearts. I've tried the beef hearts and they're actually quite good! They've also got a wide variety of side dishes to have with your entree. Something for everyone! This isn't the fastest food during the dinner crush. You'll wait in line and then wait again for your food to be prepared. But it's consistently hot and fresh and generously portioned. Oh, and they deliver! So you can enjoy your beef hearts in the comfort of your own home.

Was not planning on stopping here, but one popped tire on I95 later lead to this place. We ended up at NTB right down the road. Great prices and helpful staff by the way. We had the basics at Sardi's. A whole chicken, 3 large sides and a 2 liter of soda set us back $23. This is enough to feed our family of 5 for two meals. Three of us are 5 and under, just an FYI. Great food!!! Highly recommend it. If I am ever in a 10 mile radius or so, I will go out of my way to get this. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. We have a child with a gluten allergy and another with a soy, dairy and egg allergy which makes knowing the ingredients important. The staff confirmed that all of the choices we made were allergy friendly. We got there at 130ish or so on a Thursday afternoon and left at 3 and the place was jumping. Saw lots of cops, businessmen and blue collar workers. Everyone seems to know good value for food!

One of my safe go to spot's for lunch. The chicken is flavorful, and well-seasoned. I usually get the quarter dark that comes with two sides, usually fried plantains and Yuca, but other choices are rite with pinto/black beans, fries, potatoes, fresh greens, cole slaw, among other things. They also will give you extra sauce as you're checking out if you ask for it. For a cheap lunch that will surely fill you up, this place is great. There is really nothing much more to say that already hasn't been said.

My favorite lunchtime go-to when I'm at work. This place is great. You should naturally go for the chicken, but they succeed at many other things well. I have tried their mixed platter which was an awesome panoply of meats. They did beef well, they did chicken well, hell they even did ceviche well. Their sides are good too. I tried the plantains and yucca myself. And just as enjoyable as the taste is just how affordable all of the food is. If you are looking for a great meal full of flavor, reasonably priced, and without all the ritz, then this place should be at the top of your list.

Now dis place, dang son. I give it five stars. I be eating at this joint fo ever son. Food is good. They just upcharged their prices by like .30 cents, and I always gotta ask my baby moma to lend me that extra cheese so I can get some of that good chicken. You know I like da dark meat. 5 stars fool.

I love this place. The chicken is delicious. Best chicken I've ever ate in my life. They charbroil it and it has a "Bite" to it. To add some interesting flavor they give you three sauces white, yellow, and green. These are excellent. It is a bit on the salty side, but I like that. The line is a little hectic and it's often noisy in there, so ordering can be a pain in the butt. This is the only negative part about it. I've tried the Pollo Ever which is a de-boned chicken and it was excellent. I've had the Greco Salad which was excellent with large chunks of chicken breast seasoned perfectly. I've also had the Gyro, which was disappointing. Must try.

I ordered a whole chicken and three sides. It came with 4 cans of inka cola, nice & cold. The sweet plantains were great and the arroz chaufa were ok. The antichuchos were ok, I'll stick with the chicken, fresh, hot and juicy! :-)

  • Kathryn C.

I love me some Sardi's! You can keep Nando's! The chicken is delicious, both white meat and dark are moist, tender, and flavorful. My favorite sides are the green beans and plaintains. I've also ordered yucca, salad, and fried rice. For the price, you get a ton of food. Whenever I stop for lunch, I have enough food for two days! Beat that. The only thing I can say is check the expiration dates on your bottled drinks. ;)

LOVE LOVE LOVE their food!! I have actually only been inside the restaurant one time and it was OK. I usually do delivery when I'm at work ; **extremely sad face** I hate the fact that it usually takes at least an hour to get your food and even when I am WILLING to pay for a condiment(house dressing), I STILL DON'T GET IT! (after asking the person taking my order & repeating myself) other than that, I am & will continue to be a fan of the salmon (w/rice& string beans-MUST HAVE the house salad dressing to dip my string beans in) and Pollo Saltado!! P.S. Writing this review just made me really hungry & now I want some salmon!!

This is a solid choice for chicken. Having been to a handful of other Peruvian-style joints in the DC area, this one does certainly have a chain feel (which it is), but it does not distract from the quality of the food. Like all other roasters, the chicken is nicely seasoned, cooked on spits over charcoal, and incredibly juicy and tender. What I think sets this place apart are the sides. Most places just have rice and fries, but here you can chose from almost a dozen prepared items. I went for the fried yuca and plantains, which were out if this world caramelized sweetness. It was like eating dessert with your main course.

  • Michael V.

I rarely give 5 stars but this place rocks! I have been a few times and never disappointed. Come very hungry because they really load your plate for not a whole lot of money. So far I have only had their rotisserie chicken with yuca and other sides but want to go back and try their lamb chops or steak. Don't worry if the line is long in this cafeteria style restaurant, it moves fast and the food is always piping hot! Tips are not expected but I leave one for the person who cleans the tables. This is a small chain and I would not hesitate to visit the other locations if in those areas.

Oh my. What a great find. My wife and I went here for the first time because there reviews were so good. And they did not disappoint! Great food. Great selection. Great value. The portions are so large we split an entree! We are going again tomorrow. Only which there was one where we live

The food is delicious!! The first time I went, I had the pollo saltado which they make fresh and I could not stop eating! The second time I went back I got the 1/4 white chicken with fries and rice and beans. The chicken was juicy & the rice and beans were flavorful. You have to try this place if you haven't already...you will be hooked!

We went there on May 21st at around 12.30 PM. It felt like we were in a redesigned Chipotle! Why? Because it was packed with people ready to tear the place down, we wondered what the reason was..... We had coupons. They had too many chickens rolling on skews, and they kept bringing the chickens before the blink of an eye....we knew later why....it was delicious, soft, tender, nice and tasty, how they do it we don't know, but we figure its because they let the chicks marinate overnight in some ancient spice....whatever it was, it was good. I've been thinking of returning ever since. The servers were busy, busy, busy! You get your food and then eat like Chipotle style. We had one whole Chicken, Long Green Beans, Rice, and Baked Potatoes all for only...guess how much?.......$14.75 plus taxes and no tips. We are sure glad we used the coupon! Finally a place that deserves 5 stars!!!!!

Chicken wasn't bad but nothing special compared to other chicken places. The fijoles Negros were tastless and the yucca was under cooked.

My first time visiting Sardi's was 3 years ago, for lunch off campus. I was amazed with the taste and quality of the food. I usually order a half chicken with yucca and slaw. I'm a fan of restaurants who have Coke Zero and Pepsi Max, Sardi's is a coke establishment. The food is always fresh and the desserts and horchata are great. I usually order some out of place al a carte item as a side test to make sure everything a food joint does is spot on. The price of the meals are fair to cheap and if something not right, they will fix it. I wanted fresh yucca and they delivered with a large instead of a small after I was given the left over of an older batch. Great customer service and an overall fun and clean experience. One of my favorite places that keeps you craving for more!

  • Kim K.

I come to Sardi's at least 2-3 times a month, and it has NEVER disappointed! The chicken is always moist, flavorful, and crispy. The sides are constantly being refilled (mostly because it is so busy) but that means they are almost always fresh as can be. I have ordered several items off the menu as well and love their entree salads.

  • Lisa R.

I ate at Sardi's for the first time right after my UMD graduation- and how I wish I had tried it sooner! It's a casual place, with lunch-line style ordering. The helpings of sides are very generous, and the staff is nice and polite. Self-seating. Even better than the price (about $9 for a half chicken and two heaping sides-enough for dinner, then lunch the next day), is the rotisserie chicken, which is unmatched in seasoning, tenderness, and juicy goodness! I haven't tried any of the other main dishes aside from the chicken. Pick up the green Jalapeno sauce if you like spicy. By far one of the best places in College Park to get a cheap meal-far better than the downtown commercial strip.

I wanted to offer an update that the place is undergoing a huge renovation project. First and foremost, the entrance has changed to reflect the WaWa which will be opening soon. You now enter through the joint WaWa-Sardi's entrance, which I think will become very busy when the WaWa actually opens. Also, the parking lot has expanded, but the extra parking lot isn't lit, so it is kinda sketchy at night time right now. We were approached by a man in the dark, asking for money as we walked to our car. I don't mean to be judgmental, but that does weird me out. On a big positive note, the bathrooms have been renovated, so it is definitely a lot nicer than the bathrooms before.

  • B W.

I ordered the 1/2 chicken and two sides, which came to like $9. So I expected, due the price, parking lot, and madness in the line, this was to be spectacular. However, I found it average. Peruvian chicken, for me, is best experienced if with crispy skin and those two sauces (green and white) combined - more green than white ratio. Both the sauces were practically tasteless and the chicken skin jiggled. May be on another day.

The best Peruvian chicken I have ever had! I am a regular customer. (at least once a week!) Nicely seasoned, warm and crispy, this chicken is a must have! I also love their yuca fries and fried plantains, their arroz chaufa and green beans, and their fries are also good. I also love their gyros, and cesar salad, as well as their chopped chicken sandwich and steak and cheese. I also love their soulvaki, carne asada, and grilled salmon. I can go on and on, this place is the place to go for Peruvian chicken and Latin dishes. Don't go anywhere else but here!

Best bang for your buck! Its the best place to get food in college park. The chicken is always well seasoned and juicy. Also I am in love with all the different sauces!! All the sides are very derishous as well! Plus on Tuesday they have a student discount!! 1/4 dark and 2 sides everytime!~~

Overall, Sardi's matches the standard Peruvian Chicken template pretty closely. You can get a 1/4, 1/2 or whole chicken with 2 or 3 sides, with little condiment cups of sauces. Their chicken comes from a coal-fired brick rotisserie oven, and the flavor was good, and relatively juicy with a medium level of spicing, and a bit of smoke, but it wasn't as crispy or charred as I would have like. Certainly, this is a matter of preference, but my first Peruvian chicken experience was at El Pollo Rico, which sets a very high standard. I don't mean to detract from its goodness since it is very much on par for its genre, but I feel that Sardi's mostly distinguishes itself with its sides, which are simply a bit more interesting than other places: rice and beans, arroz chaufa (basically, a Chinese-style fried-rice), fried plantains, corn, coleslaw, and yuca fries. We got the yuca fries and the arroz chaufa. The fries were very good, and perfectly golden and crisp, with good texture throughout. The rice on the other hand was underwhelming in terms of its mostly spiceless composition. They also offer 3 sauces, which I found a bit less satisfactory: mayo, a mayo-yellow mustard mix, and a creamy jalapeno. The jalapeno's not bad, but there could've been more jalapeno and less cream. Fortunately, they also have a few bottled sauces like Tapatio, which can help a lot.

Oh Sardie's how I love thee! We've been searching for non chain restaurants in the laurel/columbia area and after reading many great yelp reviews about Sardie's I decided to give it a try this past weeked. The best Peruvian I'd experienced prior to this was at a spot in Falls Church. No need for me ever to travel to Falls Church again, because I found this fabulous spot! I ordered pollo saltado and it was bursting w/flavor from the chicken, to the rice, to the tomatoes, the flavor was simply amazing! The sauces as mentioned before are like crack. The yellow one is to die for! The only reason I can't give this place 5 stars is because of ambience. I love the salsa music playing over the speakers, but due to the screaming kids running everywhere, the crowds of people, and the overall look of the restaurant I have to take off 1 star. If you haven't already tried this place go, go, go! I thought it was a best kept secret or something, until I walked in at 9pm on Saturday to lines of people that never stopped. Do try!

I just ordered delivery from here via campusfood and I must say it is the best delivery food I have ever had. Their carne asada is DELICIOUS! They also gave me plenty of sauce without me even asking. Their maduros are amazing as well. They are inexpensive and the delivery guy was friendly. The food was hot and it was worth the wait (same amount as pretty much any other place). I will definitely be ordering from Sardi's in the future. Another bonus was that online they have radio buttons to choose how you want your meat done.

Had never been here before, but we tried Sardis this past week and I can definitely say we'll be back! Great food, friendly staff, and efficient service. I had the beef heart w/ the Peruvian corn and roasted potatos on the side. Everything was delish; The Peruvian corn appeared to be hominy on the cob, the kernels were as big as the tip of my thumb. Roasted potatos were wonderful, could've made a meal just on those. I'd never had heart before; it had its own taste (not as strong as liver), but was very tender and nicely spiced. We also had the chicken and rice. Oh, that chicken!!! People, forget about KFC, Popeyes, and all of that batter-coated junk, if you want good chicken, come to Sardis.

Delicious! Huge servings, hot food, extra friendly service with helpers that can explain the menu items to you, and packed. I loved it! Hot Latin music was playing and there were couples, families, and lone diners. I had 1/4 dark meat chicken, chorizo (sausage), carnita (flank steak), plantains, fried rice and every bite was amazing. I don't think the sauces were necessary but they may help with my leftovers. Located by the wawas and across from ikea on route 1

I LOVE Sardi's. It is definitely the best chicken in the area. The sides are also relatively large and delish, and it's a great when you have to feed a large number of people. I almost always have it delivered. It does take them about an hour to deliver (even though I live about a mile/5min drive away), but it is worth the wait!

I have probably eaten here over 30 times. I now cannot imagine life without Sardi's. I would probably eat this as my last meal on Death row. Get the half chicken and get the rice and beans and fries. Pour on those heavenly sauces (yellow, green and get the green sauce from the tables) and you got yourself a meal for the ages. I drive to College Park from DC regularly to eat here. I love this place, now all my friends love this place, my family eats here now, and even my Vegan gf likes the chicken here. I swear if I ever move away from this place I will tell my grandkids about this place and request to serve Sardi's chicken at my funeral. Just please don't forget the sauces.

The best best best charcoal chicken I've had since moving to MD. The restaurant is clean, and the food is very tasty. All the chickens and side dishes are ready to serve as soon as you step up to order, so it is a great place to get take-out. I would happily pay more than they charge, as good as it is.

    (5)
  • Rosario G.

Went there yesterday for some take-out charcoal chicken to cure my partner in crime's flu/cold. I got a whole chicken (so we could have leftovers) and got a side of rice and beans (mixed) and fried yucca. I also got a slice of chocolate cake that looked homemade. So review.. the chicken was A-OK but was not impressed. The spices were good but definitely on the salty side. When you start adding the different sauces it gets saltier still. My boyfriend had a full blown cold and his taste buds were pretty much shot but still all he could taste was salt. I am a big fan of chicken breast and rarely eat the dark meat.. so my chicken breast wasn't as salty (if you eat it without the skin) but it was on the dry and chewy side. The rice and beans were okay but nothing out of this world. The yucca was good. The chocolate cake was quite delicious although the texture was off probably because it was refrigerated for a while. It had some sort of cajeta or dulce the leche spread that was really yummy. So for the whole chicken, with two sides, and a slice of chocolate cake it was $20 bucks. A little on the pricey side for peruvian chicken I go to a place in Laurel where I get the same exact thing minus the cake and it's only $15 bucks. I may go back to try some of the other peruvian dishes though.

Wow, some of the best food I've had in a long time. The menu has a pretty good selection and many of the items are fairly inexpensive. I think their main seller is their individual chicken meals (that is what I saw most people get). For individual portions, they sell chicken meals with your choice of dark or white meat (which I have not seen in other places) and two sides. The sides were really nice delicious too. Additionally, they give these sauces to eat with the chicken, and those had great flavor, especially the green spicy sauce. Next time I come, I plan to try some of their Peruvian specialties, such as the beef heart and fried chicken. Love this place and will definitely be back.

This is an original joint with great eats. If you're in the area you gotta check it out. The slow-roasted Peruvian chicken melts in your mouth, and you have to check out the three sauces. The best thing about this place is the pricing, you can feed 8 people for $40.

The line, which is almost out the door at noon every day, says it all. Sardi's is delicious, filling, fast, and cheap... and that is why you have to go early to avoid the line. The crowd inside is really diverse - cops, college students, people in suits, etc., an example of the appeal of well-cooked Peruvian chicken to pretty much anyone. I always get the 1/4 dark chicken with two sides. The chicken is juicy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. For sides, I recommend the yucca fries, coleslaw, or fried plantain. I usually get extra cups of the green sauce to go with my chicken to add a little heat.

This place is cheap and DELICIOUS. There are two different ways to do it... you can order the chicken they have behind the counter along with whatever sides you want. OR you can order off of their menu in which case they deliver the food to your table later. If you get the chicken, it is almost cafeteria style and you can sit and eat immediately. They have whole-chicken packages which makes going in bigger groups even cheaper. I'm not the biggest fan of the seating and around lunch time this place gets packed. My friend also once found a total of FOUR hairs in his fried rice before he finally just stopped eating the food. We figured the first few could've been an accident but once they kept comin'... he realized he should just quit. That turned us off for a while but we eventually made it back. The food is just too good to quit. If you time it right, you can get lunch here in under a half hour. We would usually try to get there at 11 or 11:30 and we'd beat the rush. Be forewarned... you will smell like rotisserie smoke for the rest of the day after going here.

As far I am concerned, all other Peruvian restaurants can die. (ok...that was a bit dramatic and not entirely true) But ---- DAMN GINA! Their pollo a la brasa has to be, hands down THE BEST CHARBROILED PERUVIAN CHICKEN ever. and I've been to many a Peruvian chicken establishments in the DC metro area. Must be the spices...... AAAAANND ---- They have some tasteee Alfajores (those tender little butter cookies filled with decadent Dulce de Leche and dusted with powered sugar...*droooling*) Sides are good-- I recommend the plantains, yucca fries and beans & rice. Haven't tried anything else on their menu as their chicken is addictive and I haven't been able to get myself to try something else.

service is horrible..employees rude and donot speak english... when i told them that my order was wrong the guy said "so" like he could hv cared less...the manager was just as rude..........go somewhere else where the food is better cuz this food is not worth the attitude.

Update on my previous review-- Now that Wawa has opened up next door, the parking situation at Sardi's is no longer an issue. The place is a must-go to for Chicken and other grilled items they serve.

Perfection!!!!!! Hands down, the best Peruvian Restaurant I have come across. Everything from their sauces, to the seasoned down to the bone juicy chicken, to their drinks.... mouthwatering! The owner of this joint knows what he is doing... the staff are friendly, they all work with a passion, you will never get any attitude here. Whoever makes the food creates and cooks from his heart. The chicken is delicious all the way down to the bone. So good you will want to eat the bone. The chicken is fresh and you can see it being made right behind the serving line. You will definitely never be served up anything old and dry. Fresh and cooked to perfection, always! The sauces here are Delicious and best of all, you can ask for extra at no charge. The workers here are accommodating to the customer. If you order a side salad, they have an amazing special dressing that words cannot describe. It is addicting. Aside from the side salad, they have a nice choice of sides.... all fresh and sizzling hot. My personal favorites the string beans and potatoes... this place seasons and seasons until your taste buds water. It is amazing. The 1/4 of a chicken is satisfying and filling. My favorite drinks are the horchata and when I get lucky, they will be serving tamarindo. DELICIOUS. Slightly tart but still sweet. I have been coming here for a couple years when a friend introduced me to this place and now I am proud when I come and see line is wrapped all the way to the door. They definitely deserve it because they put so much into their food and service. I do not mind the wait in line because I know I will be eating the best, freshest Peruvian food! Finger licking good, for real! You might almost bite your fingers off! YUM!

I went several months ago and they have the best chicken; it was so juicy and flavorful. I also had the plaintains and beans and rice for my side. The prices are not bad at all for the portions you get. The line was long when my husband and I got there, but it goes pretty quick. It's not too far from where I live, so will definitely be back!

This update is WAYYY late, so I want to apologize in advance. I wrote on complaint on Sardi's website about their delivery fellow. The next day, the Owner Phil contacted me with apologizes and offered to cater an event for my office. He told me that the delivery person received a couple of complaints before. Instead, I went to the Restaurant in Beltsville. Phil was there and he told me that my meal was free (Cool). The first thing I noticed was this long line that met us at the door (Cool - that means that food is good). Then I saw the cooks hacking juicy chickens in fours (Cool - Fresh out the oven, baby). I breezed through the line like a Redskins running back! And since my meal was free, I gave the cashier/manager a head nod and went to sit down. I had a half chicken, red beans & rice, and a coke. Everything was Kool & the Gang, folks! Sardi's has a great lunch atmosphere. I haven't been back because I was working in Beltsville temporarily. I wish they would open a restaurant in Hyattsville (hint, hint).

The best chicken around by far. The sides can't be beat either.

I've been going here for 2 years, and originally found it through yelp. I usually get the chicken, and its a great deal if you share it with someone. I've also gotten other entrees before, but the chicken is really the best deal. The sides are always delicous, and I especially look forward to the beans and rice. Great price and delicious food!

I come to this place regularly even as a vegetarian. The veggie platter lets you pick 3 sides for about $6.50 which is a good deal. the food is really, really good. Some of my favs: fried yucca (a MUST here!!!), fried plantains (always cooked perfectly, never dry or soggy), coleslaw (another home run), and rice and beans (goes well with the sauces they offer). I always get extra yellow and white sauce for my yucca, and extra green sauce (spicy) for my rice and beans. Simply delicious. People there always give you a heaping portion of the sides. Come earlier so that you don't have to wait in line! Although, the assembly-line system works well and you get through the line quickly.

Half-chicken meal for $9. The chicken was the most flavorful I've ever had--way better than Chicken Rico. But what makes this place special is the sides. Not only are they generous with the portions, they actually taste good and are not just filler food. I recommend the plantains and fried rice.

  • Lillian C.

I don't think I've ever waited 1.5 hours for delivery before; of course at that point, my food was cold. I asked to have the coleslaw switched and white meat- got the dark meat, sloppy bunch of coleslaw all over the food. I really dislike coleslaw- if I knew they weren't going to follow up on their coleslaw request I'd rather not have had it. (and coleslaw with "Peruvian" chicken...?) I've definitely had better Peruvian chicken from small little mom and pop shops up in Gaithersburg, so there's no reason to eat Peruvian chicken from a chain owned by franchising Greeks. Redeeming factors: I enjoyed the plantains and the sauces were delicious, but it's the same type of sauces you get anywhere else. This area is studded with Peruvian chicken places so there's no need to obligate yourself to go to this one.

Awesome, don't be afraid of the long line. Drive past all the Peruvian places with no wait, everyone's here, but the line moves fast and you'll be glad you did.

Yum! This place has awesome rotisserie chicken and sides to go with it. The location is not the easiest one to drive into (lots of traffic nearby) but definitely worth it. You can order whole chickens, half chickens...you name it. They have a decent selection of hispanic sides ("maduro" plantains, beans, etc.). If you're in the area, you should definitely hit this place up.

I usually like to start my reviews in a thoughtful, well-considered way, but with Sardi's all I want to write is: "OMG SOOOOO GOOOOOOD!!!!" My husband and I have had some of the area's best pollo a la brasa in Wheaton, many, many times. When we saw this place in Beltsville, we were like, oh, that will be a nice substitute nearby. Oh no-- this place has the best pollo a la brasa I have ever had! The side dishes may be part of it. The green beans are absolutely delicious-- no, really, they are. The tortillas are *wonderful* with a few pieces of chicken and some sauce inside. But then there's the white rice, and that's just delicious when all the little spice bits from the chicken get in it.... but you can't pass up the fries, for sure, and there's a limit to the number of carbs you can get in a single meal. Ack! How to decide? Unlike the Wheaton places we've been to, this place also has a "white sauce" in addition to the "yellow" and "green" sauces. I have no idea what's in the white sauce, but my best guess is crack cocaine. Get extra. You're going to need it. The one side item I recommend against is the corn... can't remember what they call it, but it's the short corn on the cob that has giant kernels. Very underwhelming. But it's good to rule one side item out, because that leaves more room for green beans and fries. Or tortillas.....

Hands down best Pollo a la Brasa place I've been to. If you're not familiar with this type of food, imagine Boston Market but with much better chicken and better, and more interesting sides. It's also a lot cheaper. It's a stand in line and tell the server want you'd like kind of set up. The most popular dish is their Peruvian chicken. You can either get a fourth, a half, or a whole chicken and two sides. A fourth and two sides will cost you around $6...and they tend to give you a lot of food, too. You won't get skimped on anything here. The sides range from plantains, green beens, white rice and beans, fried chicken rice, french fries, potatoes, and fried yuca. I tend to get a fourth chicken with plantains and fried chicken rice or french fries. The sides are all excellent (minus the french fries - they're good, but nothing special), especially the plantains - tender, juicy and delicious. I don't know how they make them so good. The chicken has a lot of flavor and is always moist on the inside and crispy on the out. You'll get three different sauces with your food. My favorite is their green sauce (it's excellent on the rice!), but be cautious as it's very spicy. They have a vast menu if you're not in the mood for chicken. You can get a chorizo sandwich, pork chops, lamb chops, or many other entrees. They also serve rice pudding and cakes for dessert. Their beverages range from basic fountain sodas to refrigerators filled with international sodas and drinks. The service here is okay. You won't get many smiles, but the people here are cool and will go out of their way for you if you're nice.

Ok I'm kind of disappointed with my fellow yelpers. This is the 1st time reviews have led me wrong. All I have to say is if you guys think this chicken is 5 star worthy please (I beg you) take a ride to the former Chicken Delicious which is now La Chaquita in Bladensburg MD and check out their Peruvian Chicken. Sheesh!!!! It blows Sardi's out the water. There's no comparison. I don't mean to be dramatic as if Sardi's is not good, but if you guys think this is good check out the other place. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Went here after reading the reviews and man o man was it good. I just ate half a chicken and now it's time to take a nap. But not before I write my review. I did try a little rice and beans and yucca and it's pretty darn good. Much better than other places I've been to. The chicken was a tad bit salty but it's not very noticeable. DELICIOUS overall, tender chicken good rice. Definitely worth the drive from Bowie during rush hour.

  • Jacob B.

I Sardis most days for lunch. The chicken is moist and tender. The sauces are excellent, especially the "yellow" sauce. The portions are very generous. My 2 gripes are 1) that they cook everything in canola oil which is not as healthy as people think, and 2) that the sides especially are just really SOAKED in oil so it tends to get pretty greasy. Don't be surprised if you need a trip to the bathroom afterwards.

This place was great. I had something all mixed up with noodles and beef. I put that creamy sauce on the yuca fries, it was awesome. Needed a beer to go with it also. Have been back a few times.

I'm in loveeee with this place. The food is always good. The chicken is crisp, full of flavor, and juicy. What more can you ask for. And let's be serious where else can you get a quarter chicken dark combo with 2 sides overflowing the box for 7 bucks. I've tried just about all their entrees and the consensus is pretty great. It's hands down my go to dinner spot. If you're ordering anything but the chicken call your order in, that makes the process quicker.

Dc has some decent Peruvian chicken places but ...this place is way better. The chicken is super moist and flavorful....and in this country, chicken rarely tastes flavorful ...and it's amazing value for money...this place is way better than some high end restaurants I know of ....I live in dc but this place is worth the trek.

This place puts the other pollo places to shame... If this is your first time here, in a hurry, and want immediate satisfaction, go with the pollo chicken with 2 sides. My ratings here are based on these 5 things: 1. Best Pollo = secret marinade + quick turnover + plenty of charcoal. Your eyes will glaze over as you watch them bring out the sizzling hen and chop it up for your order. 2. Sauce = They have three different sauces. My favorite, mixing the green with the white sauce...tangy, cool, yet spicy. 3. Sides = They pile on the sides. White rice, fried rice, black beans, pinto beans, seasoned string beans, steamed vegi, coleslaw, fried yuca, fried plantains, phew! Beans and rice equal one side...wow more room for green beans! 4. Value = The side portions are generous plus plantains and yuca don't cost extra. Water is freely accessible, just ask for a cup. 5. Atmosphere = As you walk in you hear in the background the beats of latino music. They have 2 flat screen tvs, one always playing soccer and the other usually news. Employees are hard working and something about the atmosphere is energizing. Oh, one more thing... The best part is near the end of your meal when you have all the flavors mixed through out your plate....Woohoo! As good as pollo gets in this area, although I've only been to 10+ pollo places.

Some of the best chicken you can eat for a low price. Excellent every time I go. I know I've had better, particularly the place in Adams Morgan, but it is only marginally better. The travel distance makes this place the number one option. I'm a simple guy and I like what I like, so I haven't ventured off trying to many other dishes yet. But the 1/4 white with 2 sides is unbeatable. For 7 dollars, I leave very satisfied with a full stomach. The chicken is very flavorful with all the spices that comes with the Peruvian style. This is almost a weekly visit for me.

WOW The best of its kind in College Park! I ordered the Churrasco de Pollo ($8.95) and it was wonderful! The marinade they used was delicious and the pico de gallo on top and white rice on bottom made it absolutely fantastic. Also the Pollo Ever (also $8.95) is a really tasty mix of white and dark meat marinated perfectly. I made the mistake of ordering the salad and french fries as my two sides (just because I was in the mood). After having a bit of the potatoes I realized I certainly should have gotten them. They were buttery and well seasoned. The green beans were also very fresh and delicious. The fries and salad were great but were not nearly as good as the potatoes and green beans. The portions were great and kept me full and satisfied for hours after the meal. I enjoyed the decor of the restaurant. It is clearly an old Pizza Hut and now is decorated entirely with sculptures and paintings of chickens and has two big screen tv's. Sardi's has fantastic food, especially for the price and is certainly one of the best cheap restaurants in College Park.

I've been three times now after finding this place sorta by accident, and I got almost the same thing every time because it is SOOOO damn good! (quarter chicken, dark meat, if you were wondering). The chicken is among the best I've had, tender, juicy, smokey and generally finger licking good. Then they pile on the sides which are always way too much to finish, but also very tasty. I've introduced a few coworkers to this place and it is now everyone's new fav.

This place is excellent! I ordered it to be delivered and all of the reviews stated before this one were absolutely accurate. I had enough food for two meals. And the lamb chops were out of this world. Recommend this place for sure. And they deliver! It tasted like fine restaurant food but it was delivered!

Went here with some coworkers for lunch and I must say, this Peruvian chicken hit the spot. The chicken was cooked in a rotisserie oven and was phenomenal. It was moist, juicy, tender (insert any other adjective you prefer when talking about food), but most of all delicious. I ordered the 1/4 chicken with yucca and plantains. The quarter chicken was more than enough and along with two heaps of hot sides it suddenly became too much food. They served three kinds of sauce with my meal as well. The sauces were white, yellow, and green and went from mild to hot, respectively. The yellow definitely had roasted peppers in it, roast peppers have a very distinct taste. With a fountain soda, all of this ran to just under $8. I thought this was a pretty good deal. The interior of the restaurant was open and spacious. You could see back into the kitchen where they were putting herbs and spices on the chicken as well as tying up the chickens to put on the spit. There were quite a few ovens that were roasting the chickens. An enjoyable experience, I will be going back.

This was my first time at Sardi's and I liked it alot. I got the ultimate mixed grill which came with 1/4 chicken, shrimp and carne asada plus 2 sides and I was pretty full after that. The chicken was very tender and had good flavor. The shrimp was also really good and well marinated. The carne asada was my least favorite because it was a little chewy but it tasted ok. I got the plaintains which were great and the fried rice. When you come in, you order and then you sit and they bring the food out to you or you can get it to go. The service is quick and the place is pretty big and clean and it's a good place for a casual lunch or dinner. I would come back here again.

Sardi's is the best Peruvian chicken restaurant I know of. I live in VA, work in College Park, and will usually eat here once or twice a week with co-workers. Who cares if it is a chain or not. Compared to similiar family owned restaurants, Sardi's is cleaner, has friendly staff, and the lunchtime atmosphere is nice. Great for students and young professionals alike. VERY generous portions; many times you ask for a quarter chicken and receive a half for the same price.

I had only been to Sardi's twice in two days when I wrote the first review. Upon going again I have to revise my review. The now husband and I went there when my mom came to town because it was convenient. My only complaint before was the salt content seemed high. This time it was spot on. I am wondering if when we originally went they had a different cook. I think it will now become one of our more regular haunts.

This is literally the best chicken I have ever had. The place is clean, the service is quick, and the atmosphere is not pretentious at all. I can not wait to go back to try the shrimp. The yuca is absolutely delicious, and even though rice and beans are so simple, they were also completely polished off. The place is also cheap to eat at. Not a dress up atmosphere, super casual. But if you want a meal that tastes better than any 50$ plate you can think of, come here.

Okay. It goes something like this. Walk in. Order some chicken and get two sides of your choice. I have tried almost all the sides so far. All are very tasty. Service is exceptionally fast. Chicken is moist and flavorful, a tad salty. I go here when I am too lazy to cook for myself the night before. Service +1 Taste +1 Getting on and off Route One -1

YUM. The chicken is memorable and affordable. I never thought it was possible. The chicken is well cooked and flavored yet juicy. The sides are fantastic, of note are the green beans.

So my friend's wife is Peruvian and that is how I found myself here, they love it. I never knew Peruvian chicken existed, but am glad they shared it with me. I probably eat here once a week. The char broiled chicken is always extremely flavorful and juicy. The birds are always expertly seasoned and the char makes all the difference. It's a paleo lover's dream. Go in get have a chicken and two sides for $9.95 all white meat, or $7.95 for white and dark. They also served sandwiches and other meats but I've never ventured away from the chicken. Some my favorites sides are the plantains, green beans, mixed vegetables or fried yucca! I see a lot of other guys in here after the gym, which makes sense. If you're feeling super hungry you can get a whole chicken for $14.95 I can't express enough how flavorful this chicken is. I have tried a few other Peruvian Chicken spots and they don't even come close. This place blows Chix out of the water.

Great spot to get some tasty affordable peruvian chicken. Got a whole chicken and two large sides of plantains and rice/beans for about 10 bucks for two, and it really could of fed 4. Cheaper than a meal off the main menus at most fast food joints. Only 4 stars due to the sauces I'm a big sause guy when it comes to peruvian chicken, and although they're sause was tasty, it didn't have as much zip as i had hoped. The green sauce seemed just like a simple jalapeno puree. And the lighter white sause was basically just mayonnaise to cut the spicier sause.

Yum! For a diverse college town, College Park is sadly lacking in diverse culinary options. And generally lacking in good restaurants. Thankfully, we have Sardi's. Not only is the rotisserie chicken flavorful and the sides divine, the options on the large menu are equally as fantastic. If you are in a hurry, get the rotisserie chicken. If you have time, order off of the menu because you won't be disappointed. Huge portions for little cash makes it an even that much better.

A surprisingly delicious meal near College Park. I turned this place down more times than I should have. We finally decided to give it a try and were really pleased. It was a bit pricy - but its something I'm willing to pay again for such delicious chicken!

I have driven past this place over a 100 times in the past couple of years and I have been told that the food was excellent but like a idoit I never stoped. Today I stopped and the food was outstanding. The chicken (white meat) was juicy and tender and the green sauce was the best I ever tasted. The line was long but it moved fast. Can't wait to go again next week!

Like a dude on Metamucil, I've now become a semi-regular of this place. And judging by the past few times I've gone, so is most of the Beltsville area. Sardi's serves up some tasty, tasty birds. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the word. Food - I still think Super Chicken in Hyattsville serves up the tastiest charbroiled chicken, and Sabroso Grill in downtown Silver Spring serves up the cheapest ($6.60 for a 1/2), but Sardi's is pretty darn good as well. At $7.95 for a 1/2, the price is right and they still don't nickel and dime you for sauces. Some updates: 1) The seasoning for the chicken is much improved. Still significantly lighter than what you'd find at a Super/Mega/Hyper/Turbo Chicken/Pollo, but tasty nonetheless. The white meat is incredibly juicy, but the dark meat is inconsistent. Sometimes, it's perfect. Other times, it's fall-off-the-bone tender (good for ribs; not so good for chicken) and mushy. 2) the cole slaw is vastly improved. Having been initiated into Peruvian chicken at El Pollo Rico, I almost feel like I have to order cole slaw and fries (though I'll order yucca from time to time), so I'm thankful they've improved it. 3) I still think the green sauce is pretty weak. The first time I went, it was like a white belt in Tae Kwon Do. Now, it's more like a green, maybe even a purple belt, but unlike what the kids from Jhoon Rhee say ( youtube.com/watch?v=n7PE… ), this sauce will bother you. 4) Speaking of sauces, the sauces are still really odd. Some may find them tasty, but I just can't get used to them, and I think they're trying a bit too hard to be different. The Italian dressing sauce still remains and I finally put my finger on it. Here goes: I like brushing my teeth. I also like orange juice. However, putting the two together = not so awesome. In fact, kinda gross. I like the chicken at Sardi's. When I use the roll, which comes w/ your meal, and dip it in the yellow sauce, I like the sauce. However, putting the two together = not so awesome. In fact, the sauce I used the most was the ketchup + Chalula, which are provided on the table, along w/ mustard. This is saying a lot b/c Senora Chalula is my least favorite hot sauce, though I do enjoy her hombre Tapatio. Service - Still incredibly efficient and very friendly. English is still rough around the edges and you may get asked, "For here or to go?" at least 4 times, but that seems par for the course to obtain Peruvian chicken. Location - still remains incredibly clean. The place gets pretty packed for lunch - one of the few places in the area that do. They accept credit cards w/ no posted minimums. There are pictures of chickens and chicken paraphernalia -everywhere- and that bothers me. I love chickens when they're dead and cooked; but I think chickens look really gross alive. And they smell pretty bad too. If you have doubts, try driving by the Perdue farm in Salisbury on the way to Ocean City. But that's just me. Also, if you're trying to get back on Rte. 1 South, good luck. I almost always see a near-miss when leaving this place. To make your life easier, make a right out of Sardi's, turn right into the McDonald's (you'll avoid the DMV's second most horrendous intersection behind Seven Deadly Corners), cut through the lot, turn right onto Rhode Island Ave, make a right onto Sunnyside Ave, and then make the left onto Rte. 1 South. So Sardi's, you get an extra star for serving up some amazing chicken. Also, it's nice to see a business in this area that actually claimed their FREE page on Yelp. Bravo!

Sardis has the best chicken!!!! They opened up a new spot close to the redskins stadium which is great because now it is close to my home!! The chicken is always juicy the fried rice is great and the plantain is great!!! I recommend this restaurant to everyone if you have not been.... go!! And the prices are great you can get a meal for a very reasonable price. And they give you so much sometimes I have leftovers! :-)

Like Su said "Sardi's serves up some tasty, tasty birds. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the word." I use to really really like Pollo Rico but unfortunately since they had to relocate due to the big fire and other legal troubles the last time I was there it wasn't quite up to their hey day in my opinion but I haven't been there in a while so that's for another time and another review. This is for my new favorite Peruvian cluck cluck. Located in an old abandon Pizza Hut is this place and I'm glad they are here and not Pizza Hut. This is some good chicken hands down and I have had lots of chicken over the years. They also serve up other dishes too from pork to steak to lamb so a good variety of some other things if poultry is not your thang. One day I shall have to try those items but for now it's all about the chicken. Their chicken is not blacken Cajun styled, just nicely spiced if you want it more spiced then they have some different sauces that are available, the green stuff is more spicy then the yellow. Mildly spiced remember it's Peruvian not Mexican or Thai so don't expect burn your mouth off heat it's not that type of party. What is important is the most tender and juicy evenly chard chicken that you could ask for. With plenty of sides very nice yucca by the way. get that instead of rice you can eat rice any Ole time but proper yucca is best, don't worry they use low fat canola oil. Me I failed at frying up good yucca but that's another story. They have various and very delicious South American sodas, please opt for one of those not the usual boring Coke or Sprite. You can't go wrong here prices that can't be beat with food that is to kill for, even all you picky eaters out there will find something to like here. They have great offerings here and more to review than just the great chicken so oh wow I guess that I will have to return to try everything out. Oh well someone has to make the sacrifice might as well be me.

Wow! Sardi's rotisserie chicken is amazing. As a first timer I am salivating thinking of when I can return. Is twice in one day too frequent? Would I look desperate? Their style is simple and honest: delicious food served simply at incredibly reasonable prices. The four of us got the whole bird with the two large sides for ~$14 and were very happy. I can't wait to go back.

I ate lunch today at the Frederick location with a business associate for the first time. WOW! It was delish! I've got a hefty appetite so the portions were just right to leave me feeling full when we left. I'm a retired Chef and know food which this was spot on. I am connected to most networking events in Frederick and thefore a great deal of businesses and plan on telling everyone I can of my experience. Now for the service...also fantastic. Even the people cleaning off the tables were nice and smiled like they were glad to see me. You can just tell when it's genuine which it was. I told my 3 boys and wife the next time we go out to eat, we're going here.

The food and atmosphere here is really great! Family friendly too :) you can smell the flavors as soon as you step out of the car and it's only confirmed by how good the food is. The peruvian chicken is juicy and the sides are great! Try the fried plantains if you haven't. They're fried and retain a lot of their original taste and sweetness :D

This place is AMAZING!! The chicken is moist, delicious and seasoned perfectly. I have tried all the sides.. and they are all so good. BEST COLESLAW I've ever had, yuka fries, green beens, fried rice... all very very good. This is the first and only place on yelp that I have given 5 stars to date!!

Don't look any further: Hands down the best Peruvian rotisserie chicken in the DC area. You can tell how good it is by how busy it gets. Also a guarantee that you'll get a hot chicken right out of the broiler. The chicken marinade is excellent and the white meat is always moist. Good selection of sides as well. If you order something other than the chicken you'll have to wait for a while. The desserts are very good too: Tres Leches, a moist cake drenched n condensed milk or Alfajor, a cookie sandwich with dulce de leche in between. A tip for hungry students: come a few minutes before closing and you'll get a generous helping.

Wow is all I can say. Best take out meal I've had in a long time. Huge portions of healthy BBQ chicken, seasoned perfectly and served with plantains and black beans & rice. If I get back to MD I'll definitely be back.

  • Joe K.

Delicious chicken. Haven't had any other entrees there except the rotisserie chicken. I'd recommend the fried Yucca and plantains for the sides. The sauce packs they offer are also very delicious.

  • Maseeh R.

Sardis is really really good. Plain and simple, their chicken is some of the best pollo a la brasa you'll find in the md/dc/va area. Incredibly juicy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned chicken. My only hangup is their sides...nothing to complain about...it's just that nothing REALLY stands out. The one thing that really does disappoint is the fried rice...absolutely flavorless. Otherwise, white rice with black beans and some fries always gets the job done.

  • June A.

This was one of the first places we ate when we visited Maryland. The chicken is just about perfect and the side dishes (rice, beans, plaintains) were excellent. Sardi's is definitely going to be a staple for us.

The best chicken ever! Better than Pollo Loco! The sides are plentiful, fresh and delicious. This is not fast food! Don't be fooled by the looks! Give it a try and you will be satusfied!!!

Found this on yelp while driving towards ikea. The place was packed and the staff was very friendly. The food was good especially for the price but it's not addictive as others have posted. The chicken was really the best part of the meal. We also had shrimp and steak a la brasa which was ok. The yuca was also ok.

  • Tristn B.

The food and services were unreasonably great! I could do without the styrofoam plates, though! And would be great if they offered a brown rice option. I'd be willing to pay a little more for it!

  • andrew s.

Tender, tasty chicken; delicious black beans, and best of all, you can get actual green vegetables as a side. Maybe its not as spicy as some, and maybe the yucca isn't the end-all be-all, but it's a fine, satisfying meal. And I can say that if you order the 1/4 chicken, you will be 1/2 sad that you didn't get the 1/2 so you can eat more delicious tasty chicken, and 1/2 happy because you are already full.

  • Jeff C.

Went for a revisit to this place. The place is busy, the chicken is as good as ever. The sides are excellent. The fact that the crowd is building up very nicely even with another chicken place opening up down the road tells me that Sardi's got it right. This is my favorite, and the best Pollo place I know. I love it.

I decided to stop off here after class tonight, having come across positive reviews on yelp. I was not disappointed! I ordered a 1/4 white chicken with yucca and black beans and rice, all of which were generous portions, and only cost 6.25! With three choices of dipping sauces, the green aji, a yellow, and a white creamy sauce, the green definitely won out. So delicious! Combined with the savory spices from the charbroiled chicken, the whole meal was great. The atmosphere was also fun, with latin music playing, and a high energy coming from the kitchen. All of the sides looked delicious especially the plaintains. I'll have to try them on my next visit!

  • Janet B.

My family went there fro the first time last Saturday and we are sold! One child had the Salchipapas, another had a 1/4-charbroiled chicken platter, the adults shared the Mi Peru and I got a side of coleslaw. Food was AWESOME, service was excellent, place was clean and prices reasonable. We'll be going again.

EXCELLENT CHICKEN, COOKED TO PERFECTION! Love the side dishes, especially the wild rice and YUCA!

  • John S.

A little overrated. I had boneless chicken and two sides: rice and beans and fried plantain. The sides were really good. But the chicken was really bland and was so big and gristly it seemed genetically modified. I suppose the chicken on the bone could be better, though I saw it roasting and it looked pretty big too. Although the chicken is their bread and butter, I would stick to the sides.

I liked this place. It has an interesting menu of grilled meats including chicken, steak, lamb chops, and pork chops as well as Peruvian Specialities. There is even one Greek dish. They have a number of sides. I had the Churrasco de Pollo (marinated chicken breast) which was very good. For sides, I had fries Plantain, and the rice and black beans. All were very good. You order and pay at the counter and they bring the food to your table. The place is simply decorated. They had a lively Spanish radio station playing. Overall, a very pleasant meal. I'd go back.

  • Fernando D.

The best pollo a lá brasa! Their chicken season is perfect! Not too much spice, just enough that you can savior the spices. Their sides are amazing also! And they don't let you down on the size of the sides. It is a lot of food, amazingly delicious and best of all, very cheap! Sorry, can't stop typing exclamation points. But it's because this place is the sizzle! ;D

  • Joyce O.

Delicious chicken. Don't bother with any other meat. The chicken is IT! The sides were very good, especially the yucca. Will always stop by on my way to Washington DC or any point in or anywhere near College Park. SO good and very reasonably priced.

I love this place. My boyfriend and I go here almost every week. Whenever I have family in from out of town, we get takeout from Sardi's because it's such a crowd pleaser and the prices are so good. Everyone agrees that this place is great. I've never had the other entrees, but the grilled chicken is fantastic. The blend of spices is just right and it is always cooked perfectly. I've also never had a side dish here that I didn't like. They even make vegetables (especially the green beans) delicious. The fried plantains are perfect and the rice and beans, potatoes, and fries are all very good. On weekend nights, takeout is probably a good idea because Sardi's is very popular and sometimes the line goes almost out the door. The staff is very efficient, but with that much of a crowd, there is only so much you can do. Even at the peak times, though, I've never waited more than fifteen or twenty minutes before receiving my food. I cannot recommend Sardi's highly enough. Excellent food, excellent prices, efficient staff.

Really really great, damn close to authentic Peruvian cuisine. The lomo saltado and ceviche are VERY good and I love the fried yucca with the sauces they give you. Recommend. 3.5 star.

This place is awesome! Went recently on a trip back home to MD - it's in a strange location, but all the food was amazing. Good prices, large portions, quick and friendly service. We tried a bit of everything - the chicken, lomo saltado (beef stirfry type thing with french fries and rice) and anticuchos (grilled beef hearts). All of it was fresh and delicious. I wish there was a place like this in SD - we didn't get to try everything that looked interesting!

chicken is delicious. wish there was a larger side selection, but still good nonetheless.

  • Chris E.

Had a great lunch here. 1/4 chicken with fried yucca and plantains. Great portions at a great price. The chicken was really good, maybe a little salty as one other reviewer mentioned, but that won't stop me from coming back. I was craving Peruvian/El Salvadorian chicken for weeks and this hit the spot!!!

  • Erin M.

I ordered take-out lunch from here (so I have no idea what eating in is like). It was Awesome! I got the pork chops, because I don't really care for chicken. They were fabulous. They also had wonderful black beans. And the sauce! Get some of the yellow sauce. It's to die for. I'll definitely order from here again. And, it was totally affordable for a TON of food.

Wanted to eat here on birthday because they catered the Greek festival in my town. Well, I was very disappointed. The restaurant was hot as Satan's panties, the service was slow and the prices were a little high. I had a gyro with fried plantain and a slice of red velvet cake. Everything was tasty, but the gyro was poorly assembled with the meat on top =/

  • Stephanie J.

I ordered delivery, the food got here in under an hour and was well packaged, the delivery man was polite. That being said, the food was amazing. I got a whole chicken and two sides, which will make several meals for me. The chicken is wonderfully seasoned and so juicy and the sides are large and well done. I highly recommend this place, especially if you are trying to eat out on a budget. This place is GREAT!

    (5)
  • John S.

The Peruvian chicken here is really moist and juicy, with great seasonings and 3 different dipping sauces. $14 gets you a whole chicken and two sides, and it's an awesome bargain. Their side of rice is also not just plain rice, but a sort of seasoned rice with chicken in it. It was much better than I had expected. Also, I ordered using delivery and they were really prompt and quick about sending the food out. Just don't get fries delivered; they are bound to get soggy on the way.

Pretty much the best Peruvian chicken in DC metro area.

  • Jay K.

This is very good peruvian chicken that everyone should try in the area. The chickens are delicious and cooked perfectly and the sides are also delicious. The yuca is a must-try. The service is also top-notch and everyone here is very friendly. Another plus is that they give you all the sauce that you want. The restaurant itself is very clean and spacious. This is a very good place for food.

    (5)
  • Joe H.

I'll go along with the others who rave about the chicken here--it's very tasty, though IMO not quite as good as EPR. I tried the fried plantains and yuca, and while the plantains were good, eating the yuca was almost like eating chalk, and is the reason for knocking off a star. Otherwise, I found the facility very clean and well-lit, and they had a good variety of sides available, and other dishes as well (such as the ceviche Marilyn's friend mentioned) but I did not try those.

    (4)
  • Brianna M.

My family and I decided to stop here after receiving a recommendation. Although the restaurant was noisy the food was really yummy. The chicken had a delicious flavor that wasn't too salty like many other places I've been. The meal was affordable and filling. The employees were also very kind. I would come to Sardis again!

Worth every star. A true hole-in-the-wall that made it big with quality food at value price-point. When you first step in, it's like a mob due to the line and you will need to quickly figure out "how does this work???" You won't have too much time to think because that line moves faster than customs at BWI. I'll give you a quick cheatsheet of how to "do" Sardi's: 1. Tell them you want the carryout container, not dine in. You'll have leftovers, if you're not a glutton determined to eat it all in one sitting. Instead of trying to bust through the line and ask for a container later, just start out by doing the right thing. 2. I think most people were ordering the combo of either: 1/2 chicken (choice of white or dark) plus 2 sides, or 1/4 chicken plus 2 sides The available sides will be in a buffet bar behind the glass. 3. Ask for at least 2 green sauces and 2 yellow/white sauces, you'll need them. Especially if you get the yucca fries. They just go really well with the chicken too. 4. Sit down and devour. 5. At the end of the meal, simply close the carryout box, and push through the ever-increasing line which will likely still be in formation by the time you finish your meal. Repeat steps as often as possible :) Of course, I'm sure their other entrees deserve exploration as well and I will certainly be interested in trying the "ultimate mixed-grill" sometime.

Literally the most bestest food in all the world. If you choose a different place, you've made a wrong choice.

It's always a good place to go if you want some delicious chicken and awesome side dishes! Expect sometimes a long line, but it moves quickly!

    (5)
  • James A.

Better than the other Peruvian chicken places around. Their sauces are so good that they had to institute a "sauce policy" because people were trying to take home bags of it. The sides are excellent and they always fill the respective container to capacity. It says something that employees of nearby restaurants come to Sardi's to eat on break.

    (5)
  • Laura H.

Though the line was out the door and into the cold, Sardi's was worth the wait (and the line moved fairly quickly)! The half chicken was juicy and delicious, the fried yuca was outstanding, and the fried rice delicious! The green beans, although good, we're almost green beans no longer... They had been cooked and seasoned to within an inch of their lives. The sweet plantains get a thumbs up. I'd definitely go back!

    (5)
  • Natasha R.

Pretty good! Ordered online and my food was waiting for me when I got there. Chicken had a lot of flavor! The plantains were delicious. The right softness with a crunch on the edges and a perfect sweet taste! Rice and beans were average but a good complement to the chicken!

  • Libby F.

Who goes to a place w/ pollo in the name and doesn't order chicken? This girl! I actually left very sated after eating a salad, plantains, and white rice smothered in their yellow sauce. Thanks Timothy C. for suggesting the yellow sauce! The salad was fresh. The fried plantains were plump and tender. I don't eat rice very often, but my oh my, it was delicious with the yellow sauce poured over it! I'd go back just for the rice and yellow sauce! School's out, so that may be in the very near future.

    (5)
  • A L.

It's always crowded here during peak meal times. Very popular spot and LOUD. I usually take my order to-go so I can spare my eardrums. The pollo is always juicy and delicious. Sometimes the sides are a hit or miss (under cooked veggies but I guess it's subjective) but I always come back for more!

Mmmmmm can't get enough of this place. The bananas (or whatever they're technically called) are a little iffy. Sometimes they're a little hard and sometimes they're soft. Nonetheless, this place is fantastic.

You don't have to serve the best food in the world to get 5 stars from me, but you have to do what you are trying to do extraordinarily well and creatively. Located near the traffic mush where Rhode Island Avenue meets Hwy 1, Sardi's won't catch your eye, but if your nose draws you in with that crispy chicken smell, they will catch your taste buds. And honestly, standing in the 30 person line, the sight of a skewer of 5 crispy whole chickens turning, the drippings hissing onto fiery hot coals WILL catch your eye. Then you tell the chicken chopper what cut you want (leg & wing, thigh, or breast) and then SNIP FLOP WHAM WHAM BAM!! he grabs a chicken from the skewer, cuts the cords holding it together with ease, and quarters your chicken faster than a machine ever could. It's like the Hibachi of Peruvian chicken! He hands your plate to then next dude, moving the 30 person line along with efficiency, and you can choose 2 options from salad, rice, beans, cole slaw, fries or yucca root (I usually settle on the salad and fried rice) to go with your chicken, and then before you know it you have a plate of hot food and they're asking for your card and you have to turn around and find a seat among 30 identical tables brimming with happy faces. The star is the chicken. I haven't tried any of their other meats (I hear some do exist), but how could I when like 40 chickens start calling my name when I walk in the door? The skin is perfectly seasoned, the meat is moist, but well cooked, both the white and dark meat are delicious. And they serve it up with three little containers of sauce, a mild, a spicy, and a hot sauce, and they all go pretty well with anything - salad, chicken, a dash of hot sauce on the rice even. I usually class it up by getting orange Fanta! SHAZAM!

this is the best Peruvian food I've ever eaten. watch out, the green sauce will give you heart burn. do not go to six flags afterwards, you will not have a good day.

  • S. Y.

This place is awesome! I stopped for lunch, and it was really fast! I got 1/4 chicken with 2 sides: black beans & white rice and green beans. I also got an additional medium side of plantains. Everything was absolutely delicious!! They included 3 sauces (green, yellow, and white), and those were also really good. I got all of that plus a drink for less than $15, and it provided me with two FULL meals. Because I got it to go, they really packed the to go container with as much food as would fit! I couldn't believe how much I got! And everything was seriously awesome - I was surprised how much I loved the sides, considering how basic they are! I will definitely be going back again soon!

  • Ishita V.

I had heard good reviews from two of my friends and thus decided to try it out. It was around 7.45 pm on a weekday and there was a huge queue. But, the good part was they were serving really quickly, so the queue shortened very soon. I ordered 1/4th chicken (white meat) with 2 sides: French Yuca and Peruvian Fried Rice. To be honest, I didn't like the chicken so much. It should have been more juicy from inside, in my opinion. However, they gave three kinds of sauces along with and they helped add some flavor. The Yuca was all right, but the Peruvian friend rice was nice. It had chicken in it too.

    (2)
  • Fernando L.

The best pollo a la brasa that i have ever taste!!! This place is the place to come and taste real Peruvian food, the arroz chaufa and the beans were spectacular.... They marinated the chicken for 24 hr, no wonder is so good !!! I would recommend it to anyone!!!

This place was bangin' no doubt... And in the mouth too! They got Peruvian food, definitely mess with that when you is in there! Don't F around, just eat here!

  • Yadira M.

I'd never had Peruvian food before, and granted I ordered a gyro here, but it was pretty great. This place, according to the people that recommended it, is best known for their chicken and carne asada. Don't get me wrong, I love both very much, but everything looked so good I got a little overwhelmed and just went with the first thing I had seen on the menu that looked familiar. That being said, the gyro I ordered was really good. But I will admit, I think it was overpriced at almost $10. I'll need to go back to try the carne & the chicken since that's what this place is really all about. Maybe then I'll be more inclined to feel the price makes it worth it.

Local landmark, always get half chicken with plantains and rice and beans. Everything is there is delicious.

YUMMY Peruvian-style chicken! They have much better sides to choose from than places like El Pollo Rico; such as their green beans! Great place to eat for a great price!

Newcomers quick guide: -Walk to the far right end of the counter -Yell "[quarter//half//or whole]] [dark//white]" to chicken man -Select two sides -Yucca are the thick/rough-looking "fries"; think similar flavor but starchier -Arroz chaufa="Chinese rice", aka fried rice -All other sides are pretty much self-explanatory -Ask for extra sauce. yellow=the best, green=mild spicy chimichurri, white=closest to mayo. There's a sauce limit though. ------------------------ As if you need another review singing Sardis praises. This is THE chicken joint I recommend to everyone new to town. I've tried the competition: El Pollo Rico (pre- and post-burn down), Crisp & Juicy, et al. Sardis wins hands down on all accounts for consistency, quality, and flavor. Some have the audacity to say Crisp & Juicy's orange sauce is better- utter nonsense. Sardis has perfected what I have affectionately termed, "Chicken Hell", an industrial rotating spit near the counter where dozens of chickens are simultaneously licked by eternal flames into rotisserie perfection. I'm adding my two cents to put in a plug for their other menu items. I'd be happy enough if the chicken was amazing and the rest of the menu stunk, but Sardis has yet to miss the mark with other dishes- this includes their ceviche, carne asada, salmon, etc. One particular stand-our dish is their seco de carne, tender stewed beef with pinto beans, rice, and a side of red onions & cilantro in lime juice. Honestly I'm so stuck on the chicken however I haven't really been able to get through all their other offerings. But don't be afraid to branch out Sardis regulars (or newcomers)! Only catch is you'll have to wait a bit for those to be prepared in the back kitchen, whereas chicken+sides are served up non-stop in the front-counter assembly line.

  • Michael B.

I eat at Sardi's on a regular basis. It's 5 minutes from my house and food is great! I always explore the vast menu and have yet to be disappointed. I've had everything from Peruvian dishes, to gyros, to deserts (tres leche). My only critique is that the sides can be bland. The beans, potatoes, mixed vegetables and green beans are my least favorite but the fries, yuca and rice (white riceand arroz chaufa) are very good.

Oh Yelpers, how can I thank you for pointing us to this gem? We got mixed grill and chicken, each with 2 sides and all I can say is YUM and bring on the leftovers!!

  • Jessie J.

Finally go to try Sardi's after staring at their yelp for days! Let me warn you this place is jammed packed! It's crazy driving in and out of there. Please be careful making a left turn out, baltimore ave is crazy and it seems like every car on that road is trying to get in Sardi's. The line inside is longer than any chipotle line I've been in, so worth the wait. The place is set up like a Boston Market, tell them what you want and they'll put it on your plate for you. Let's talk about their portions ! Remember when I made a review on Guapos and complained about their portions? Sardi's is the complete opposite. You pay for what you get for here ! They give you so much food it's unbelievable. Maybe if I wasn't I would share with my imaginary husband and kids. Their food is amazing! The chicken has so much flavor! It is to die for ! Make sure you ask for the yellow sauce. Good rice and beans, their plantains are nice and sweet. Sardi's is now my new favorite spot in Maryland. Expand in NYC please!

They have the absolute best rotisserie chicken ever. Their chicken breasts are juicier than the dark meat you get at other places. The seasonings and the tenderness of the meats are astounding. Their ceviche? More than legit. Each bite makes you forget about the troubles at hand. All you think about is how amazing this dish is. I love their corn too. Huge kernels but not too sweet. Service is lightning fast no matter how long the line gets. This place may have a lot of reviews but I still feel like it's underrated. There is no other place like this.

  • Jayne S.

Delicious food! And it's a bonus that they deliver to College Park.

  • Chinita A.

This place gives me life! I go here when I don't feel like cooking or simply in need of sweet pleasure. I don't know what they do to the chicken but it is amazing every single time. They have a good selection of sides to choose from and the line moves pretty fast. Did I mention the salmon?! AMAZING. Underrated. You should go now!

UPDATE: Just had the friend we introduced to Sardi's say, "When are we going to Sardi's again?!" We're planning our viewing of The Hunger Games (appropriately) around a trip to Sardi's. :D Yum. Can't wait!

Came here for lunch after church with some buddies. Food: 5 Price/Value: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Food: 5 They're known for their chicken - just walk in and you'll know. Crazy tasty - crispy skin, tender meat that falls apart when you bite it. One person can get a 1/4 dark meal and it's enough - you get a leg, a breast, and 2 sides. All of their sides are good - I recommend a salad/fried rice combo or green beans/potatoes combo. You also get 3 sauces, so you can pick which one you like the best and just ask for more of that. Price/Value: 5 So much goodness for such a low price. A 1/4 dark meal is ~$8. The more you get, the better value too. A "family special" is ~$36, which is 2 whole chickens, 4 bigger sides, and 6 drinks, and it can feed 5-6 very hungry high school or college kids. Service: 5 You can sit in or get take out. Either way, the line moves super fast. Atmosphere: 4 Spanish music vibes? Yessir. Place is clean enough. Tips You Should Know: Repeat after me - "Can I get a 1/4 dark with salad and fried rice? Thank you!" Would I recommend? YES. Bring the whole crew here - the more the merrier! If you're trying to win a girl over, get her a 1/4 dark meal. They say money can't buy happiness... but money can buy Sardi's... which gives you happiness...

I can't say enough good things about this place. You have a pretty good menu with a very machine like way of processing every order and making sure your order comes out correct. I emphasis this because I've seen that place packed on many occasions and I don't recall every having a problem or seeing someone have a problem with their order. That's a plus for professionalism. The food is great as you can imagine. While the chicken isn't the very best Peruvian chicken you're going to find in the are it's still damn good and for the price you can't beat it. The lamb chops I've had are good as well and the ceviche' is impressive as well. There is no complicated flavor or anything like that it's just good food that's happens to really easy on the wallet. Putting value for your money is something you will always get there. Clean, professional, great value, great food and friendly employees are why I give this place top marks.

Sardies catered my Wedding on Memorial Day 2015 - And to sum up the experience I'll just say "FABULOUS". My coordinator (Latoya) was very attentive to the details of what I needed and even calmed my nerves as the Wedding date drew near. And the manager (Lynn) was just awesome - She was very patient and treated me like she was planning an event for someone in her family. The food (rotisserie chicken, lasagna, and macaroni and cheese) was delicious and it far exceeded my expectations. I was already a fan of Sardies lamb chops but now I'm in awe with the restaurant.

UPDATE: I love going to this Sardis, but they are majorly skimping as of late. They keep nickel and diming me for every little thing & hiking up their prices. Their food is good, but they are becoming very stingy & I'm not sure its worth it.

Best pollo ala brasa I've ever had. We have plenty of Peruvian joints up in north jersey where I'm from and none compare imo. Just happened to find this one by luck and boy am I grateful for this place. Eveytime we go to DC area we always make a pit stop here. Can't put into words how good the food is just go and check it out!

Ordered the half chicken and 2 sides. (See photo) and two bites in had me writing this review. The place has excellent food. It's pretty crowded, which is clearly a compliment to the food. I'll be back again!

My family has been raving about this chicken place for the longest time. Being away from home for majority of the year, they named this place's chicken as a must-eat the next time I visit. So for my visit home this time around, instead of our typical costco run with a whole combo pizza for lunch, we drove just a few streets down to get their whole chicken special. Sardi's is set up as a cafeteria style dine-in or to go restaurant. One would enter the "place your order here" sign and place their order. The server behind the counter would immediately chop up and box everything up for you. My family and I decided to go with whole chicken with 2 sides special for 17 dollars. The chicken was fresh from the oven and as they chopped it up into quarter pieces, I could still see the steam escape from the center. We went with 2 orders of yuca fries just because from taking a quick glance of all other sides - I thought I can easily get any of them from other restaurants... and also because it's the side that came in the biggest portion lol. - a family of 4 with 2 body builders - we gotta make our money worth! We paid at the other end of the line and the cashier was generous in giving us extra sauces. We had the option of dining in - just like McDonald style - no need to tip, just find a seat and eat there as you wish. But since we had gallons of milk from Costco, we decided to bring the order home. The chicken was still piping hot when we opened the box. I decided to go for the breast - first bite - Juicy and tender - the exterior - perfectly seasoned. The green sauce gave it an extra kick. The yucca fries were crunchy but lacking in the seasoning. Dip them in their special sauces though, it's another story. Not the best chicken I've ever tasted but definitely tasty and a bargain for the price we paid. Personally still prefer costco pizza over chicken here but.. that's just my carb loving me. Will return for more chicken madness.

So seriously, I was literally sick and tired of hearing about Pollo a La Brasa. I had been to a couple places in Arlington and considered it as overrated as any food I had ever tried. One place was so bad (Super Pollo on Wilson Blvd) it felt like I was back at my old school cafeteria. Anyway, I had just about given up when my fellow Yelpers threw me a bone...a chicken bone in this case. Wow, I was blown away. Flavorful crisp yet moist chicken and fantastic sides of fried rice and green beans. This place was so yummy I almost want to go back today...AGAIN!!!!! But seriously, before you write off Pollo a La Brasa, make sure you give this place a try. It really is head and shoulders above its competitors in the DMV area.

Great Peruvian chicken and yuca. That green (jalapeños) sauce is delicious! Hit the spot tonight.

I've lost a night's sleep thanks to Sardi's...not because this is the stuff dreams are made of, but because I had to get up at least 5 times to get water because I've never had Peruvian food with as much salt as this place uses. Peruvian chicken is one of the few things the DMV area does better than anywhere else I've had it. From Virginia to Maryland, and the District in between, there's no shortage of solid Peruvian rotisserie chicken options. Given the high rating and rave reviews on Yelp, I had to drive myself over to Sardi's after a trip to Ikea. The place is huge and it's set up like a typical fast-casual place with very little frills, which is fine considering most folks are at Sardi's for the food and not an experience. The staff and service were tremendous, and I was attended to promptly. I opted for a quarter chicken white meat because the smell of the chicken is hard to resist. With a generous heaping of Peruvian fried rice and yucca, I had enough food to sustain me for three days. For the amount of food you get, and for what you pay for that quantity, Sardi's is a great value. What you get in quantity, really doesn't deliver in terms of quality. The chicken itself is juicy, but I didn't find it to be crispy. The amount of salt was overwhelming, and there was no hint of any other flavoring in the chicken. The accompanying sides were ridiculously oily to the point where the container had a solid quarter inch of oil in it from the fried rice. I get it, it's fried rice, and fried yucca, it's comfort food and not health food, but I was a bit taken aback by the oiliness of the food when I thought back to the same meal at other establishments. You really can't go wrong with Peruvian rotisserie chicken, but it's not something I would get at Sardi's again. I would be open to coming back to the establishment to try other traditional Peruvian dishes, but I will definitely pass on the chicken, and fried rice.

Been to this establishment many, many times and never had an issue. The food is on point and the service is fast pace without feeling rushed. If you saw the lines in here though you would understand. Know what you want, then get in and get out. But first know what you want! People holding up the line is the only flaw in the system. If you not sure then get the chicken, its great! Have a nice day, thank you and come again. Oh yea, put the yellow sauce on everything! That sauce is amazing...

    (4)
  • Amber J.

Awesome.Period. rice and beans, veggies, and platains with yellow sauce. I always get it to-go because its crowded plus I can smack my teeth and be greedy alone @ home/work :)

My sister brought me here for some carry out after picking me up form the train station on a Thursday night. I'd only had Peruvian chicken once before and liked it so I was excited to get a new spot's twist on it. We ordered the whole chicken with a side of yuca fries and plantains. SO GOOD. All of it. And huge portions. Definitely worth the $12-14 we spent. Definitely recommend.

I go at least once a week and I have never left unsatisfied. Sardi's is the king of Pollo a La Brasa and everything on the menu is delicious. Some favorites are the chicken (of course), Pollo Parillero (if I want chicken and I don't feel like getting messy), Carne Asada, Lamb Chops, Beef Short Ribs, the gyros and the ultimate mixed grill when I cannot decide. The line can be long at times, but it's well worth the wait. I take all my friends who visit the DMV to Sardis and every time they return they ask to go back. Best food in the area.

  • Jay S.

Where do i start? This has to be the best Peruvian chicken around, i have been going to sardis for about 5 years now, and they still are great. There ARE SOO MANY DUPLICATORS But no one can match sardis! simply amazing!

1/2 chicken with green beans and red potatoes was awesome! The chicken is incredibly flavorful and moist.

Delicious!!! I love this place, they have a huge variety of menu items and the Peruvian rotisserie chicken was amazing. Definitely recommend going and agree with all the wonderful reviews this place gets. We got there and the line was about 8 people but the line moves fast and the dining room was packed on a Sunday evening.

I've tried quite a few of the Peruvian Chicken places and Sardi's still sits at the top of the list. The chicken along with the sides, have excellent flavors. I don't visit this place as much as I'd like to because it's a little bit of a distance from me. They need to open one in Tysons!

  • Sebastian B.

This is a busy place but lots of space in the dining room. It has a huge menu for a counter service joint but everything is fabulous. I really liked to roasted chicken and the shrimp from the combo plate. They pile on the side dishes too so you won't leave hungry.

Has to be one of the best Peruvian chicken place next to this other place in Arlington, VA, called El Pollo Rico. They're normally always bustling with customers, ranging from families to nearby working professionals. That being said, their food is normally always fresh because they're constantly cooking. As normal, you can choose between dark or white meat. Their chicken meat is extremely tender and you can taste the seasoning in the skin. Their portion size is also pretty descent, so ordering just a quarter of a chicken should be enough, for me atleast, and it comes with two sides. I love their yuca! Every time I've ordered it, they were always hot and crispy. Definitely recommend those Peruvian chicken lovers to give this place a try!

  • Paul B.

Crack Chicken - it's so addictive. The roast chicken is delicious but don't stop there. We also like the chicharron de pollo and the gyro salad. And the salmon. And the carne asada. And the Salchipapas. The only problem is that evenings it can be crowded and the lines lnog, and it's getting worse. Their salad dressing is out of this world and they are very friendly and helpful. If you don't like lines, get it delivery or call ahead.

I LOVE Sardi's!!!! Whenever I'm in town, I have to stop by. The peruvian chicken is always hot, juicy, and well seasoned. There are three different dipping sauces. The green is spicy, probably cilantro based. The white is creamy. The yellow one is my favorite, I have no idea what it is but it's a mixture of both hot and cold for me. Anyways let's get on to the sides. The fried yucca, fries, black beans (I get it on top of the white rice), fried rice, salad (dressing is kick-ass), green beans and roasted potatoes are all flavorful and delicious. YUM. I would get them all on their own to eat the next day...and the next day... The chicken dishes come with 2 sides, 1/2 chicken for under $10 is a-ok with me

This place has very good food. You cant beat this place. If you think el pollo rico or any other Peruvian chicken place is amazing then you have to try this place. They don't only specialize in chicken, they have a big variety of different food. This place is great. Get very crowed at lunch so come early!

Hands down the best pollo a la brasa in MD. I have tried so many peruvian chicken joints in Rockville, Gaithersburg, Silver Spring, Laurel, Baltimore, etc, and Sardi's is the best. The chicken is superb: juicy, flavorful, crisp, punch yourself in the face good. When we make the trek down Route 1 (a must-stop whenever we have guests new to the area), we also always get the yucca, plantains, rice and beans, and green beans. Other than the chicken, I've had pleasant results with the anticuchos, lomo saltado, and the carne. It is busy and well-deserved. Awesome food.

I was looking for a place to stop to grab dinner with some friends before heading into DC for the evening. Sardi's was bookmarked for over two months so I immediately had the dinner destination prior to hitting the Greenbelt. There is a little bit of a bottleneck when you enter as the exit line that leads to the cashier and the entrance to the building cover the same square footage. But, once you find the end of the line you are only a few feet away from some amazing chicken. "The Good" - Staff are very helpful and polite, but sometimes go on auto pilot. I understand that you can get bored standing behind a counter most of the day but you have a giant cleaver in your hand and get to chop a chicken in half every two minutes. - The chicken is delicious, if you take a look to the right of the order taker you can see them cooking in a giant rotisserie behind the counter. - Although it takes a little longer the mixed grill plate is delicious. The chorizo and carne azada in particular are some really good dishes. - They have a few TVs that always manage to have a football / soccer game on. - Cold soda on draft. "The Meh" - A very good problem to have - they are crowded during peak food hours. So, be prepared. The tables fill up too... so you may not even have a place to sit after waiting twenty minutes in line. "The Bad" - Nothing bad to comment on, this place has really amazing food.

Big taste! Big portions! Tiny price! Sardi's is like the hedgehog. The fox has many tricks, but the hedgehog has one good one. The Sardi's hedgehog trick is completely awesome chicken, in the Peruvian style. Estilo peruano, as we say. That's actually kind of unfair to the place. The neat thing about ordering some chicken at Sardi's is that you get sides with it, and the sides are great. The white rice is great. The fried rice is great. Put beans on it for extra great. The green beans are garlicky and al dente. The plantains are sweet and savory and starchy. The yuca is super fried! Get a dessert. I mean, you just ate a couple handfuls of fried yuca. You're not on your best behavior. Further undermining the hedgehog comparison is that the menu is huge. They got gyros and beefheart and shrimp and ceviche and all kinda stuff. Maybe it's great. I wouldn't know. I go for the chicken. Here are a couple tips from an experienced Sardianista: 1. If you get the white rice, they'll put beans on it, AND IT ONLY COUNTS AS ONE SIDE. I know, right? 2. You don't need the half chicken. Get the quarter. Specify if you want white or dark. 3. If you order chicken, you'll be through the line and heading to your table or car in moments. If you order anything else, you're going to wait. I've seen relationships under serious strain when one party ordered chicken and the other went all fancy and ordered a damn gyro. Mr. Chicken was happily digging in while Fancy Miss Gyro had to sit and watch him. You could tell she was reviewing certain life decisions. Other notes: The staff is super nice and efficient. The ambience is mainly soccer on TV and that kind of annoying/kind of catchy tinny guitar music. If you walk in and it looks crowded, don't sweat it - they go fast. In conclusion, Sardi's tastes just as good as anything else, and it costs less than just about anything else. It's great. Go there. Now. See you there.

I swear nothing- NOTHING- will keep us away Sardi's! Aside from consistently making a fool of ourselves every time we visit (i.e. thinking I threw my phone away and looking through the trash when it was in my pocket the whole time, or having the starter of the car die and being stuck in the parking lot for an hour), my friends and I never hesitate to get some good ol' Peruvian chicken for lunch! I always order the quarter dark meat with 2 sides and I end up with leftovers at the end. Their yellow dipping sauce with the charcoal broiled chicken is the perfect combination! The line can get really long during lunch hours, but it moves fairly quickly. Based on their chicken alone, it can easily make anyone a regular.

Get off the beltway NOW!!! find this old Pizza Hut on the south side of route 1. While most abandon Pizza Hut buildings get re-purposed as Used Car Lots or Adult Book stores, this one was chosen for a higher purpose. Everything is fantastic. The chicken is amazing. Try the yucca, it is great. ... No...better yet...order the whole menu; get a big table; and put yourself into a food coma. Yes, there will be a line. Get in it and wait patiently. Sardi's Pollo A La Brasa is worth any wait. SERIOUSLY, if you walk away you will regret it. Sardi's Pollo A La Brasa is destined to make every "Cheap-Eats" list in the DC area. Expect them to some day be featured on "Diners, Drive Inns, and Dives". If you missed the exit reading this review, TURN AROUND NOW and go back!!!!!!!

Ok Sardi's, Imma need you to not do what you doing, your fast, courteous even on the busiest days and your food is among the best Peruvian food I've had since I arrived. It's so flavorful and perfectly seasoned, even your little sauce cups which I wish you gave more of. I also wish I knew what was in those little cups... And why is your chicken crispy on the outside like that? Nobody elses is, not even Crispy and Juicy's chicken is crispy. The portions are huge which is a big plus, it actually makes me happier that other spots serve less because I don't have to waste so much. A+ for effort Sardi's, Thank You...

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place. My boyfriend and I decided to try this place because of some of the great reviews and couldn't be happier. We actually went back 3 times that week.( I know how greedy). The chicken is cooked to perfection. The portions were great. The only negative is the crowded place, so you have to search and hold a table hostage or your out of luck sometimes. There is so many good choices. I had the Ultimate Mixed Grill, so i could sample a little fo everything. All the meats were delicious. The sides were good and the portions were big, i had to save some for the next day. When ordering you can be a little confused. They handed me a number and i got lost in the crowd. Its usually crowded because its so popular so if you hate crowded i suggest you order online and just pick up. However if you can get past the crowds this would be a perfect place to try!

My first trip after reading the other reviews. The chicken was very good. The flavor went all the way through to the bone. The yucca was a little to crunchy for my liking. Maybe it was just that time. I will try it again. Then I had plantains. They were sweet and delicious. I will definitely recommend this place to family, friends and everyone in between.

I often find myself looking for any and every excuse to be in the area and eat at Sardi's. It's crazy how they cook 19303423 chickens at once and they all taste amazing. The sides are very good too, but it's all about the chicken here. Definitely recommend this spot.

Fantastic! Try the Yucca. Also the salad dressing is really good. If you are going for lunch on a weekday get there prior to 11:30am to avoid crazy lines.

I came here on the recommendation of a friend..... Sweet Jesus was it good. I didn't go with the chicken, I ordered the Carne asada and Yum Yum Yum!!! This skirt steak was absolutely delicious and oh so tender, cooked to perfection. I had the salad and yuca as my sides, again yummy! Needless to say I'm already trying to figure out when I'm going back.... Good lawd!!!

Best. Chicken. Ever. The carne asada is my favorite tho. I have never had a bad meal at Sardi's! They also give you a lot for your money and so this ends up being a great value since you can have leftovers for lunch the next day!

  • Ingrid W.

I don't get the hoopla about Sardis. It's assembly line food service, reminds me of how they serve food in a prison. They essentially throw the food onto your plate. No smiles, no greeting just,"what do you want". What's up with the gross yellow sauce? I've tried several comparable restaurants and Chicken on the Run so far is the best. I can't comprehend why this place has a line outside the door. The chicken is mediocre at best. The sides? Please! The plantain was soggy and gross, rice and beans lacked favor and the yucca was dry and over cooked. I guess I've got a snobby palate. Since moving here from Cali, I've noticed that the locals here have NO idea of what is considered great dining. This is the south after all.

Grab $7 and your appetite. The food is super reasonable and the options are nicer than other Peruvian spots I patron. My only gripe is the long line! Yes, this place is popular, but the line isn't very efficient. The line workers are fulfilling phone in orders at the same time as the in person orders on the same line. Food is majorly delicious though. Prepare for some good and cheap eating! Easy to find just next to the wawa and plenty of parking.

A must have in College Park/Beltsville. It became a tradition among my friends to order Sardi's every sunday for Game of Thrones... We eventually started just ordering the family special... a meal meant for 6 but happily shared by 3 hungry college students. If you want to eat absolutely incredible food, not spend a whole lot, and are within 2 hours I highly recommend it... I have even brought it home 90 minutes away and it kept very well... although it didn't all arrive un-tasted...

This is one of THE BEST places I have been to in the Laurel area. I have been there three times now and have yet to be disappointed. There half chicken was sooooooo good and there black beans and fries complimented my entre quite well. The food is fantastic and I suggest anybody traveling down route 1 to stop by and give it a try. I cant wait to go back, oh and I heard there steak and cheese sandwich was fantastic as well so I will be trying that next time I go!!

Oh, mah, gawsh! I had the Carnero a.k.a. the Lamb Chops and they were scrumdiddlyumpscious!! I didn't even want to use the dipping sauces, because they were already flavored so well. The two sides (string beans and roasted potatoes) were also delish. I plan on going back and updating this just so I can eat some more there. YUM!!!

Go here once a week. Half white, salad and beans and rice. Salad dressing is one of the best I've had. Chickens pretty mushy and beans are too small. Would go more often with better quality chicken but we'll see

I went here yesterday with some coworkers...never heard of it before, but was totally willing to give it a try. It's a bit far from Maryland's campus so it made sense why I never went there as a student, but holy DELICIOUSNESS, I wish I had. I will definitely come back again for the World Famous Souvlaki!! It was beyond amazing--tender pork skewers over a bed of rice, with greek salad on the side and 5 insanely good sauces with pita bread. I couldn't decide which one was my favorite. Definitely happy my coworker introduced this place to me!

Don't Eat Here. This place is DIRTY. There are so many flies in this place that transfer salmonella and other crap to the cooked food and fresh veggies that you're eating. This past Sunday evening I ordered the 1/4 white with house salad and steamed veggies Later that night I started getting cramps and then all night long I was barfing and pooping. I literally got up 20 times in the middle of the night to barf and poo. Also I was breaking out with cold sweats. I had chills so bad all night and next day. The next day I had to call in sick because I still throwing up and I was aching all over. BE WARNED!!! If you still want to eat here get something cooked or HOT! If you see flies GET OUT!!! These flies live and breed somewhere in the store and crap all over your food!!!

OMG......I miss me some Sardi's!!! Visited this place last year while visiting Maryland and fell in love. I always believed that in Calif we had the best Peruvian food but OMG this place is the best, if only they could ship me some food every week I'd be in pure heaven. The chicken was so delicious, juice and tender with just the right seasoning, the plantains, yucca etc.....so good. Sardi's please open one in Cali, a gal needs to eat :) This place was so packed even in the late evening that I could not even imagine them having time to make delivery runs, people it's worth getting in the car and picking the food up...these people are too busy making wonderful food to stop the process for delivery Lol, but hey everyone craves their great food...... i'm gonna be back for some Sardi's soon

The best restaurant for Peruvian food ! Pollo a la brasa is always top notch here and the sides of fries, yuca, and plátanos fritos make it perfect! They aren't stingy with the sauce here which is great because the sauce is so different and amazing. The staff is really friendly , the place is nice and clean and never too busy, and the prices are great. If you normally get chicken try the ceviche or lomo saltado. I love coming here !

I need to preface this review by saying that I grew up in Wheaton. Consequently, El Pollo Rico is my basis for judging all other pollo a la brasa restaurants. In the past 15 years, we've become spoiled for choice with many other rotisserie chicken places opening (and closing) throughout the area, but I have yet to find one that's quite as good as EPR. If I was coming in blind, I would probably think Sardi's was worth going out of the way for. As it is, I think it's a good bet if you happen to be in the College Park/Beltsville area, certainly better for cheap eats than the fast food alternatives. You won't leave hungry: The portion sizes are generous, one reason being that they use bigger birds than my favorite spot. It's well cooked and moist but, bigger chickens are simply less flavorful than smaller ones. Apart from the chicken, itself? The sides are generally good, the sauces are generally weak. The menu selection is much better than most Peruvian chicken places, including my fave. I haven't tried the steak, but I'll update my review when I do. They actually deserve better than 3 stars, and if it was technically possible, I would give a 3.5 star review, but try El Pollo Rico and you'll understand.

ok, let me just put it out there. I'M PERUVIAN and it's really HARD to perfect the pollo a la brasa. I recently moved to the area and tried other places around me and they weren't that good, i was starting to lose hope. Then my boyfriend took me here... BLEW MY MIND. Eating there was probably the closest to home i've felt in awhile. They even have peruvian sodas, not just your inka cola that apparently you can find anywhere in the DMV. ANYWAYS this place is amazing, from the platanos to the yucca, even the green beans were delicious! the chicken is perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. the staff is really friendly too and i love that i can speak spanish to them. Sardi's definitely deserves the 5 stars! YUMMM!

I am a Peruvian Chicken fan...and these guys got it right! Also their lomo saltado is very good. Decoration and Service....5 Stars also!

Holy crap! Now I see what all the fuss is about. This place KNOWS their chicken. Cooked & seasoned to perfection... you will not be disappointed people! I tried the chicken & shrimp skewers.. yum, yum, yum!! They even offer healthy side options for health nuts like me (i.e. salad). The chicken melts in your mouth... you'll think you died & went to heaven :-)

This place is great! If the chickens were grass-fed, it would have gotten 5 stars, but it is hands down the best Peruvian chicken place I've ever been to, and is the least expensive, go figure.

3.75 stars. Upon entering this restaurant, you are beckoned by the welcoming aroma of Peruvian chicken basting for a modicum of time in its own juices and spices. Any potential impatience from the relatively lengthy queue instantly evaporates except perhaps for the slightly audible growl from your own stomach as it awaits with supreme confidence what sight and smell tell you will be a fortuitous journey. Sardi's menu isn't just Peruvian chicken, however, people aren't rushing to this place because they can't stop talking about the ceviche. Although I briefly considered purchasing the Peruvian platter, the promise of the chicken was far too much to bear. I settled on splitting a whole chicken and three sides with a similarly hungry friend, and we quickly got to eating. Peruvian Chicken: Super Pollo is the best I have had in the extended DC area, and it is still my subjective champion. Sardi's reminds me more of El Pollo Rico which certainly is not meant to be a slight. There is something about Super Pollo where I think they use a heavier base of spices, and it just works better for me than the other Peruvian chicken joints. But again, managing a spot in the top three of a heavily contested ethnic treat is not a demerit. Green Beans: Initially, I wasn't too pleased with them. While I was happy that the beans maintained a somewhat firm texture, they just had very little flavor. However, after the oil seems through the side dish, the beans are tastier. Still, I'm not sure why they are given so much love on this website. My best guess is the incredibly generous serving size. If you order them, just remember that you can probably make these at home and get the exact same result with minimal effort. Fried Yucca: Again, nothing really to write home about. I think it worked best with the yellow dipping sauce. Arroz Chaufa: On its own, it was far too dry. Yet, the bland rice and egg combination was transformed when the accompanying dipping sauces (meant for the chicken) were applied to the rice. Overall, however, I'm thinking that rice and black beans might have been the right order. Sardi's is definitely worth a look if you visit College Park. If you live here, I'll go out on a limb and say this is probably going to be your best option for Peruvian chicken. Luckily for you, it's a solid one.

Great food! I'm a vegetarian and ordered their Ceviche de Pescado and their Sardi's Salmon with the French Yuca on two separate occasions. Their delivery was fast and they wrote my name on the box which was personable. I was a fan of everything except the shoe peg peruvian corn which I just personally don't care for. This is my go to delivery if I need some decent food and a break from studying. Very flavorful!

I've been in the area for a few years now. This is the place I go to for lunch the most. If you've never been, stick with the chicken and 2 sides. Anything off the menu will take a long time, and will be inconsistent. I'm not sure why the big menu even exists.

Being as how I live close, I'm going to miss this place when I move. Now the only reason why I'm not giving them 5 stars is because they're inconsistent with my favorite veggie side (green beans) and also their prices have gone up way too much. Some of my top favorites have to be: -Sardi's Salmon -Carne Asada -Lamb Chops -Fried Yucca -Gyro Salad -Tres Leches cake

Oops! I did it again! I drove to this place and ordered chicken... oh baby baby..... Even the bone has flavor! I'm a fan. I also figured out a way to get there in less than 20 minutes from Bowie. I'll be going back again soon! Maybe tomorrow?

I had been dying to try this place. After a meeting at church Tuesday evening, I decided to brave this place alone. Busy is an understatement. The parking lot was full. With the addition of a WAWA next store, it was a traffic congestion at 8 PM. There was a fairly large line, which I take as an indication that they must be doing something right for people to wait. The line moved along fairly quickly. It appears that their rotisserie chicken is the main venue here. They also have a menu to order from which is quite extensive. My general rule of thumb when trying a new place is to go with the house special. So, staying true to that....I ordered a 1/2 chicken which was accompanied by two sides. I choose Arroz Chufa (Peruvian Fried Rice) and fresh cooked green beans. I also ordered a side of yucca frita. The food is served buffet style by their employees. Unfortunately, they were out of plantains and their famed Peruvian Corn on the Cob (my original side choices). I took the food to go and my car smelled heavenly the entire way home. Luckily, I ordered a 1/2 chicken, knowing my beloved husband would change his mind once he caught wind of the aroma. The 1/2 chicken and sides were enough for two. My husband and I both loved the entire meal. Whenever one of us happens to be in the area, we stop for togo. We always stick to the chicken but mix up the sides. There is nothing we have not enjoyed. The sweet plantains and yucca are my go to.

The first time I went to Sardi's was late in the evening, just before closing and I thought the server was doing me a favor by unloading food in eye-popping portions because they didn't want to store it or throw it away. The next time I went was middle of the day with a line of people in front of me when I realized this was their normal portion size. Lots of places charge ridiculous prices for a whisper of portion. These portions will satisfy even the most gargantuan appetites. These are not puny chickens seemingly raised to make one think you're getting a good deal when you order half a chicken. These are meaty, succulent, flavorful, right-sized birds fire-roasted to perfection What makes this joynt a great place to eat is the VALUE. You can get a meal that can feed two people for under $10. I can't wait to try some of the other items on the menu.

One of the best plates of food I've ever eaten! YUMMM. Ridiculously moist and flavorful chicken. The dipping sauces are an added bonus. Great Fried Rice. Crispy fried yucca & fries. Super fast service with really kind workers. Extremely affordable with generous portions. If I'm ever in the College Park, MD area again, this will surely be a stop!

I worked behind this place for about a year, and never tried it. Every morning when I got to work at 10am, the smell of charcoal cooked chicken would make it to my nose by way of the wind. Needless to say, salivation would commence. Our business moved about 2 miles south 6 months ago, and ever since then I've been thinking about heading back to see what's up with this Sardi's place. A few days ago, my girlfriend and I finally got back up there to try it. As soon as we pulled up and exited the car, the same smell I experienced months ago was still present. We walked in to a crowded restaurant and bustling staff. You can get your food in a cafeteria-style setup. The line was long but moved with the speed and efficiency of a navy seal unit (forward and with purpose). We chose the whole chicken which came with two large sides. An employee grabbed one and briskly chopped it into quarters for easy eating. We chose the roasted potatoes and green beans for sides. The entree came with 3 types of side sauces: two creamy ones, and one jalepeno-relish type. We spotted a table for two and grabbed it swiftly, seeing as it was the only one available at the time. We sat down, opened our styrofoam containers, and never looked back. The food was delicious, fresh, flavorful, and hardy. We passed on utensils for the chicken and used our hands to pull it apart and dip into the sauces, in what would seem reminiscent of a gathering with traditional peruvian flare. The chicken had great, balanced flavors, and was very juicy and tender. The green beans were cooked with some onion, and the potatoes were simple with salt, pepper, and light spice. In closing, this place is a great destination if you're looking for incredible food and casual atmosphere. The kind of place to gather with friends casually and enjoy a night of fulfilling food.

Awesome chicken! I usually get the quarter white and as always, it's tender juicy and cooked and seasoned just right. If you're really hungry or don't mind sharing, the grilled combo plate can't be beat. You get steak, chicken, pork and shrimp with your choice of sides. Also, in a crazy twist, their gyros aren't that bad either. All in all for what you pay and the quality of the food, you'll be hard pressed to find a better deal anywhere.

I've been over here once a week since the first time I tried it. I order family meals ( two whole chickens, 4 sides and cans of soda for $35.00 ) to bring home which is a great value and a real crowd pleaser. Today, for lunch I ordered the Ultimate Mixed Grill add a side order of fresh tortilla's and it was AWESOME! The Steak was tender, the shrimps ( 4 medium size tail on ) were nice tasty gulf shrimp, you already know about the chicken. There is no better " El Poyo " in the area. Yes, I know it's spelled Pollo and this is called Sardi's in Beltsville, but at my son's day care they all call Sardi's " that good " El Poyo " chicken. I could eat the fried rice and grilled Plantain everyday. They have a limit posted on how many sauces you can get with your meal. FYI, for Family Meal the limit is 24 hahahhaha.

Tender, juicy, Peruvian chicken with fried yucca and plantains. All for under 10 bucks? Ohhh yeah baby. I've only heard amazing things about Sardi's, and I couldn't wait to try it myself. No complaints over here! I got the 1/4 white meat, worried that i might have to use one of their three sauces (which are all delicious, by the way) to moisten it up. This wouldn't be a bad thing, just what you expect when ordering white meat, right? WRONG! That chicken was so deliciously juicy and bursting with the flavors of the charbroil. The sauces were just an added bonus for a punch of flavor here and there. What a lovely surprise to find through the mess of Route 1 in College Park!

When I was an undergrad, I found some of the best food places during my last year. It was disappointing knowing that I could have visited some locations for 4 years when I only dropped in for one. I'm not making the same mistake for graduate school. That's how I found Sardi's. I used Yelp to locate somewhere decent within a mile of UMD. There was nothing worth my time (or at least that I hadn't already visited, been disappointed by, etc.). But when I just broadened my search by a couple miles, I found Sardi's. I got in my car for lunch (4:45 pm...still a student). Right as I walked in there was no line, but there were about 15-20 people seated, eating slowly and quietly. There was a lot of food on their plates and in their mouths. I could tell that the lack of conversation meant that I wouldn't be talking much either, but chewing intently. Sardi's offered me options that I could see in front of my face. Behind a glass sneeze-proof window, I noticed that there was a large selection of fresh sides. I ordered a half-chicken and my side of cole slaw and rice and beans and wait how did they get my order that quickly. It's like someone was piling food on my plate before I'd moved down the line. I was hungry, and I couldn't have asked for anything more. I watched the employee's firm forearm muscles flex as the Hispanic pile of joy that rested on his open palm attempted to fall to the ground. He preserved the weighty integrity of my food with his cavalier balancing act. Soon I was to be seated, in under 10 dollars. With portions that mighty, a value more ridiculous than this review. The food was intensely flavorful. The chicken-I could have eaten more. But it's better that I didn't. The skin had great flavor, preserving a hot to the touch dark meat chicken. There were a few little sauces provided with the meal (the green one is spicy). They were excellent dips for my meal. The rice and beans were piled high. Both delicious. The cole slaw...better than most. I can't recall the last time I enjoyed cole slaw as much as at Sardi's...that's a good sign. I left so happy. Regardless of your appetite or upbringing, Sardi's will do it for you. I'm stoked to go back for the forearms. I mean the chicken.

Delicioso! Interesting tidbit, I discovered this place on a blog called Used to Be A Pizza Hut - which explains the architecture and roofline. Having been to Peru myself, and reading the good reviews here on Yelp had me intrigued - it's about a 45 minute drive from where I live. I was not disappointed, what a serendipitous find! I had a 1/4 chicken with a side of yuca fries and coleslaw. The order also came with an assortment of house made sauces; they aren't mentioned in the printed menu but are highlighted by posters that dot the walls of the dining area. If you're into Peruvian beverages they have a big refrigerator case with Inca Kola. And in a smaller refrigerator case near the cash register I found a bottled version of my favorite, Chicha Morada. I kind of wish they had some house made Chicha Morada but judging by their stocking of beverages I'm guessing there isn't enough demand for it. I digress, looking forward to eating here again sometime!

Lively atmosphere, buzzing with activity. We came on a weekday afternoon to the beat of Latin music. The charbroiled deboned chicken and the pork chops were grilled to perfection. The portions are enormous! The "sides" were large. I love fried plantains and these were great. There were also 3 sauces - a mint based spicy sauce, a sour cream based sauce that went well with the plantains and a mustard based sauce. Will definitely return!

This is the best chicken you will ever taste! I have never tried anything other than the chicken as main course and could eat it every day. My favorite sides are the house salad (awesome dressing) and deliciously addictive plantains. I love their yellow dipping sauce. The lines are always long but that is part of the package and music is always a bit too loud. The portions are huge and you could get two meals out of one but that is for people with better will power than me.

Update: I would give Sardi's 10 stars! EVERYTHING is phenomenal. Even the freaking salad dressing. I ordered my chicken with green beans and salad today because I am avoiding carbs and I thought that would lessen my meal (as I LOVE their roasted potatoes and rice). Nope! Green beans were phenomenal, salad was fresh and the salad dressing--THAT was to die for!! Def as good as it gets.

Amazing chicken! I always plan on trying out the rest of the items on their menu but once I walk in and smell the chicken, I can't resist. Favorite sides are coleslaw and fried rice. Plantains also good. Yucca is ok. Great, fast service. Usually a line to/out the door but it goes quickly.

If I died eating this food, I would consider it a pleasure to have had something so wonderful in my body at the time. IT IS THE BEST! Prepare yourself for a long line if you go on a Sunday afternoon however it's so worth the wait (& the line moves rather quickly)

Five stars for value! Sardi's offers large portions of quality, delicious home style food at ridiculously low prices. The bill for four people including meals and drinks was $39 and the food was incredible. It really does not get much better than that. I had the 1/4 chicken meal. You need to ask for "dark meat" if you want a chicken drum stick, by the way. My choice of two sides were the green beans, which they heaped into my tray, and the fried rice which was a bit salty but still tasty. My boyfriend tried the fried yucca and the plantains, so that we could share all of our sides and taste different items. The consistency of the yucca was a bit dry (first time I've had it so perhaps it's just that way), but tasted great dipped in the spicy green sauce. The plantains were awesome. I kept stealing those from my boyfriend's plate and couldn't stop eating them even when I was full. The ambiance is casual and they serve you on disposable plates with plastic cutlery. One of the only downsides was that all of the tables are fairly small so with four people in our party, we were a little cramped...just a few things to be aware of. There was a line but it moved fast and the guys behind the counter were hard working and efficient. I'm actually a bit disappointed that we only went to Sardi's once during our stay in College Park. I would definitely go back to try one of their more authentic Peruvian dishes.

Sardi's is awesome. My go-to Peruvian choice is chicken with plantains and salad. Sardi's plantains are AMAZING! The salad is fresh fresh fresh. The chicken is delicious. This is the best casual dining choice in Beltsville, hands down.

I was looking for a place to fulfill my Peruvian chicken craving that was a little closer than my fave, El Pollo Rico. After consulting Yelp, I found Sardi's. To think I lived in College Park for years and would pass by this place often, never knowing what I was missing out on. The line was long but moved fairly quickly. The dining area was full. I knew I was in the right place. First visit, I ordered a whole chicken, green beans and rice for the sides. The chicken was seasoned well, moist and roasted to perfection. It even stood up to re-heating. They aren't stingy with the sauces which is a plus. The sides were nothing to write home about and I ended up chucking those. On my second visit, I stuck to fries and plaintain. Much better. I took off one star because while looking back into the kitchen at the men preparing the birds for roasting, none of them were wearing gloves. And one would come out and handle the bottle with the liquid he squeezed onto the birds in the oven. The occasional fly I saw roaming about surely spent some time lounging on that bottle. Hopefully, the fire kills all that! As good as the bird is, next time, I just won't look!

Great deal for ~$6 - 1/4 a dark chicken, and 2 sides which the servers pile up like mad for you. The dark chicken's always moist and super flavorful, but sometimes a little too greasy for my liking (granted, this is essentially fast food chicken.) Favorite right now is the grilled shrimp though, comes with a side of rice and choice of two sides, dipping it in white sauce/green sauce/any sauce like quadruples the delicious. Service is always friendly and with a smile, and their sides are delicious. Can't go wrong with the yucca, and believe it or not, they make some pretty good fried rice that's better than most of the Asian joints out there. It's pretty impressive to see the huge racks of chicken roasting while you're ordering, too.

we got the 1/2 chicken it was good, not awesome like omg i want this again but good. we got 2 sides of cole slaw, just average cabbage with mayo. and fried plantains. they were good too. id come back here again. the place was packed even at 3PM so thats a good sign.

The food is great. Slow roasted chicken is moist and tasty. The pork chops are nicely marinaded and freshly grilled. The fried yucca is perfect and the dipping sauces wonderfully spicy. Also you can't beat the price for this quality.

Got lunch yesterday morning, excited because Sardi's is so much closer than Pollo Rico. The chicken was fine, but the skin was really hard and hard to eat. I wouldn't eat there again because it was no where near as good as Pollo Rico, but I had a good meal.

If it was possible to marry a restaurant establishment, I'd marry Sardi's. I work in Beltsville and in a sea of fast food chains and stank looking restaurants you can find Sardi's! I tried them for the first time a year ago when my co-workers ordered their food for lunch. I've been hooked ever since!! I loooooove their chicken, fries, yucca and plantains. But in my recent attempt to lose some lbs., I've been ordering their De Casa salad. The salad itself is like most salads, but the flavored croutons and the charbroiled chicken added on top makes it one of the best salads I've ever had in my life! Plus the dressing that comes with it (they say it's vinaigrette, but it has more of a creamy consistency) has some spices and is a little peppery - it is AMAZINGGGG. So even this salad really hits the spot! The lines get pretty long during lunch time (and the parking is a little hectic), but if you call in your order ahead of time, you can go straight to the cashier to pick up and pay! And depending on their catering schedule, they sometimes even deliver!

The food is always good here...I should really say that the chicken is always good here b/c i don't get anything but dark chicken, yuca, rice and black beans. I would have given it 5 stars but sometimes the employees turns the music so high up that you wanna walk out and not dine inside...I think that's when the manager is away.... or maybe i'm just sensitive to the loud music. .... just changed my mind i'll give it 5 stars even with the loud music....

This is one of my favorite places to eat. The chicken is very tender and has great flavor. They give good sized portions for a great price. I love the chicken sauces, especially the yellow sauce (flavorful with a little spice). The house salad and house salad dressing are awesome as well.

  • Niana K.

I LOVE their yucca and plantains!!!! The sauces compliment the food very well, and the chicken is delicious! FYI, don't get the greek salad. In fact, why did I get a salad here anyway? should've gotten a real meal instead of eating off my boyfriend's plate. the chicken was warm-ish, dry, and had no flavor. I couldn't even finish it. Probably would've given Sardi's 5 stars if it weren't for their salad.

Sardi's is a cafeteria style Peruvian restaurant that also serve Greek food. The place has a very simple setup. You order your food on line and than take a number and find your own table. Then they bring your food to you. I had the peruvian grilled chicken with 2 sides (I choose green beans and white rice). The chicken was cooked perfectly and had a great flavor. The rice was also very tasty. The green beans were cooked and don't have much flavor. I still give it 4 stars becuse the chicken and rice was so good, I was willing to over looked the green beans.

Best chicken you can get around here! Its a little bit more expensive then boston market or popeyes but its worth every penny. Its never dry and their sauses are amazing. Once you have it you'll never go to the other shops.i asked them how they make them and they told me the prep work takes 30 days of marinating.

I've tried multiple rotisserie chicken restaurants, and Sardi's is the BEST! I'm disappointed whenever I go somewhere else. When my mom visits me, we go to lunch here. I don't even have to ask her where she wants to go. We always get the quarter chicken meals. The yucca is perfectly cooked, every time. We've loved every side item we've tried: black beans & rice, green beans, and side salad. The dressing for the salad is AMAZING; I wish they would bottle it. It gets a noisy during the lunch time rush. It doesn't help the the music is always a little loud either. I've never tried any of the entrees because I can't pass up the chicken, but I've heard good things from friends. If you're in the area, I definitely suggest you give it a try!

Delicious smokey and juicy chicken! Sides are also good- green salad is very decent. Everything is a tad too salty but maybe thats hard to notice with all the giant speakers blazing at full blast to numb the mind and makes it hard to taste... Maybe takeout is the way here.

We went because we were hungry, there was a bbq-y smell in the air that we followed and the Yelp reviews (at time of posting 148 reviews and a 4-1/2 star average) were excellent. It was delicious and reasonably priced. It's order and get your food at the counter and take your trash to the bin kind of place, so it's almost fast food, but so much better than any fast food I've had anywhere near here. The chicken was nicely spiced, piping hot (watch your fingers), and very moist. Green beans were fresh and still a little crisp and the pinto beans had a nice zing. Also ordered the yucca because it had such good reviews, and it was good, but it was a huge order so we couldn't eat it all. We tried, we really did, but there was a lot of food on our plates! Not a place I would ever look at from the outside and think "lets go there" as it is in an old Pizza Hut building right off Rte 1, and as my date said, it feels like a "Bill Miller's" (my Texas friends, especially near SA will understand this one) on the inside. All in all, it was a very worthy stop. We'll be back.

I love a place where I get two meals in one. I always get the same thing when I come to Sardi's. 1/2 Dark chicken meal with plantains and fried yuca. Or the brown rice. and I grab a slice of tres leches cake omw out. They PACK the hell out of the styrofoam takeout, so I always end up having a whole meals worth of leftovers for dinner or next lunch or whatever. Its fast paced, cafeteria style setup. So you never really end up waiting for your food unless you order something off the actual menu. My only gripe is as much as I love the tres leches cake, I dont think it shld be $4 for the square they give.... But then again if it were $2 a slice, I may end up grabbing two.... hmmm... decisions, decisions.

You could live off this place. Quarter chicken dark comes with two sides for less than eight bucks. The fried yucca is awesome, and the plantains are great. Arroz chaufa could be a little more seasoned, as could their vegetables and fries. But there's a little something for everyone, as my 52-year-old-mother loves their peruvian corn. The chicken is amazing, the portion sizes are so generous it barely fits in the plate, and people working there are super friendly. The cashier always tries to practice Chinese with me whenever I go... Definitely get the chicken. Sauces are amazing, I tend to hoard them and use them on sandwiches, etc. The horchata there is great, and they usually don't try to gyp you off by charging you $2.65 for 80% ice 20% horchata. I've also had their pork chops, and my boyfriend's had their steak. I've also had their tres leches, and it's one of the best ones I've ever had. I can definitely say that Sardi's does everything well.

Best chicken I've ever had. Seriously. One bite, and I was in ecstasy. The yuca was a little tough but I'm sure it's better during prime time. One thing I noticed: there are practically no skinny people eating here... it's not exactly light fare.

Holy moly, this is the best Peruvian chicken and sides I've ever had. Was in Laurel for business (from Atlanta) and kept passing by the old Pizza Hut and it was always packed for lunch and dinner. I finally decided to try it out and ended up eating there 5 more times that week. The chicken is amazing, juicy, and perfect. The sides are great - even the Veg-All with butter sauce! The yellow sauce was my favorite and I've never had better maduros...even in Miami. One con to me is that if you order anything off the hot bar (i.e. sandwich or other menu item) at lunch, be prepared to wait awhile. Those ladies and guys are ready to work the hot bar and it seems that the sandwiches, etc. throw them off. HOWEVER, this does NOT deserve one less star as the food deserves five stars. Also, the value is great and the portions are extremely generous. Please come to Atlanta so I can have my Sardi's fix!

Sardi's your food is great but please please please please pay attention to your service. The line is almost out the door which is fine with me but this is everytime I go there. Don't you think its about time the owner starts coming up with an idea of how to serve customers faster? I always see the same people working but none of them is an owner. Where are the owner(s) when you need them? People are literally standing over one another and someone is always holding up the line which would be a good idea to have more than one line or 2 registers. Just sayin but the food is great.

The go-to place in college park. The chicken is consistently so good I always go here with my friends. I think I eat here too much but I still haven't gotten tired of it. The chicken is always juicy. They also have their special menu if you are willing to wait a little longer for something special besides the chicken dinner. As a group we usually get the family special with two chicken and some sides and soda. But I find that there's usually not enough sides. I love the Yucca and plaintains. Their special sauce cups are really great though I only like the yellow cups. Recently they renovated and it looks nice inside.

My family loves Sardi's! I like to change it up and try new restaurants, but we find ourselves coming back to Sardi's time and time again. My husband loves it, I love it, even our one-year-old son loves it. We tend to take out-of-town guests here, and everyone who has ever been with us has liked it and asked to come back. True, the Peruvian chicken is not necessarily objectively better than other Peruvian chicken in the region, but it's still damn good! Plus the nice thing about Sardi's is that they have a ton of other options in addition to the chicken (they are not one-trick ponies like so many other pollo a la brasa places). There are a ton of other things that makes Sardi's good, too: -The prices are very reasonable -It gets crowded, but because it is a good-sized restaurant (inside a renovated Pizza Hut, it seems), tables are usually available. The food usually comes out pretty quickly, too. -The sides are delicious. I go here primarily for the fried yuca. I crave the yuca and yellow sauce all the time. -Speaking of the sauces, they always give you a ton, and they don't charge you extra for them (unlike their competition, ahem, El Pollo Rico) -The portions are huge. When I eat here I usually have enough leftovers to make a second meal the next day. Can't recommend this place enough.

I yelped my way to a lunch place with four stars near my next meeting. I was pleasantly surprised to find that Sardi's is more than your average Pollo a la Brasa joint. First up, this place is not small. Lot's of seating. Some large table as well. Sardi's is good for a group or just one. It's warm and very clean. Second, it's not just Pollo Brasa, Sardi's has a strong of sides, but it also has a good selection of other Latin and Peruvian foods as well. They even have Souvlaki! The quality of the chicken and sides was outstanding. Service, was quick and efficient even though it was lunch hour. I look forward to trying their Gaithersburg location, and I am sure I will be back to College Park!

Very good deal. Chicken is super cheap and huge, the quality is decent. Not as good as Nandos but much better deal. Try the ceviche also !

I have tried Peruvian chicken before, and Sardi's is the best. I have been coming here for a few years, started with ordering the chicken w/with two sides...heavenly, perfectly seasoned not overcooked. I have tried the Greco salad, w/chicken, the best and the salad dressing is a great compliment. Gyro, chicken chesse sandwich, everything is good. I have noticed this place is getting more crowded. If you don't like long lines call in ahead for takeout. When I want takeout, this is my favorite go to place.

We order from here every week at my office, and I usually get the rice and beans or yuca side (dot eat meat). This week I decided to try something new and got the Ceviche de Camarones. The shrimp was really good! Cut up and mixed up with avocado, cilantro, and spice served with a lime juice sauce and sweet potato. We topped our spinach with this and it was a divine salad. So, if you don't eat meat, you can still enjoy and nice meal here. Yum!

I am obsessed with Sardi's, and come up with excuses to drive the 10 or so miles out of my way to get some whenever possible. My favorite item is their churrasco de pollo, which takes a while for them to make (unlike their roasted chicken meals, which you can just wait in line for), so I call ahead and and it's ready by the time I get there. Their service is very efficient, their portions are huge, and they don't overcook their vegetables, which is a wonderful plus. Try the green beans!

We tried this place on a whim and since Entertainment book had a coupon. Best Peruvian chicken!!! Better than the Mexican El Pollo Loco in California (and that's also excellent). The Plantain was ok. The sauces were worth to try too. MUST GO again !

I love Peruvian chicken and this place truly delivers! The chicken is always juicy and flavorful and the sides are amazing (got to get the fried rice, green beans, or plantain). If you're not in the mood for char-broiled chicken, try something off of their extensive menu. Their sandwiches are great and their servings are plentiful. If you find yourself in the area stop by for a great lunch or dinner!

Napkins were thick and wiped all grease for my hands. Was good because the chicken was so tasty and moist. The moistness lead to greasy hands but happy mouth. I esp liked the portion size. Coach D approved
