what. the. crap. christmas, new year's, st. paddy's day, and a 70's strip club all somehow created a magical love child that exploded glitter, ghetto, and gambling all over itself. this bar is amazing, and takes "dive" to a whole new level. every single fixture in the entire place is either mirrored or otherwise blinged out -- think inconclusive disco. the waitress was wearing an apron. not a bar apron. an i'm-making-thanksgiving-for-my-whole-family-and-shabby-chic-and/or-southern-living-is-my-favorite-catalog apron. "what beers do you have?" "coors light. budweiser. beast. colt 45.... coors light.... budweiser... heineken, corona." all the walls and the ceilings are mirrored. "Fatal Reunion" was on tv. if you haven't seen this gem of a movie, check out IMDB immediately. also -- new cassell's? this might be some sort of clever play on "newcastle," but i prefer to think it was unintentional. it's so confusing that i relish its incoherence. i'm so in awe i don't know what else to say. outstanding.
