Chicken and waffles with mambo sauce. This was such a treat and we were so excited to eat local! The staff was great and we ate in by the front bar. Wife got the hash platter and had to get the home fries. They live up to the reputation. Seriously go here for the first meal of the day!

Found this place a couple blocks from a friend's place in Canton. Saw the good reviews and decided to give it a shot with my group of friends. Walked in and was immediately greeted by the friendly smile of the waiter/cashier behind the counter who in turn gave us menus and recommendations. 5 star service right there! Ordered the wrap with eggs and bacon with honey wheat tortilla and cheddar. This along with their potatos/hash browns was a solid choice for a breakfast meal. My friends and I were pleased with both quality and quantity of the food. Some regretted not being able to finish. Definitely a spot to hit up for Sunday brunch after a night out

I have heard of this place for years and it had quite the name......pretty much unwarranted. I ordered the French toast which came with three eggs over easy and sausage and it was not very good. The French toast had an odd flavor to it and was a little soggy. The eggs were fine but the sausage looked like it was freshly taken out of a package and re-heated in a barrel of grease. Simply Disappointing.

Decided to try this place for a late breakfast. It was rated really well on here, looked amazing, was close by so we decided to give it a try. Half an hour till close, so we called ahead to get our order in and do pick up. The chicken and waffles were OK at best but did not come with their popular mambo sauce although it was specifically ordered. We also ordered the eggs Benny with home fries and sausage gravy that everyone raved about and that they are known for. The hollandaise had no taste, my poached eggs were both hardboiled (one of the hard yolks was actually removed and laying on top like a joke) and my home fries were burnt to a crisp. The gravy was good, it's just to bad I had nothing edible to put it on. Worst of all was that the previous high reviews as well as the reception we got both on the phone and during pick up was almost as if we were a nuisance and led us to believe the poor quality was intentional. NOT COMING HERE AGAIN!

Good to know there is good southern food up north in Baltimore. Marie is cooking, her nephew was working and while my first choice was not available I was really happy with my breakfast. Marie let us try some mambo sauce which is great, we will be back soon!

I'll preface this by saying that I'm a Jew... The whole restaurant has this creepy Catholic hoax decor, so I felt a little eerie spending my Sunday morning breakfast hungover and surrounded by crosses, but then I indulged in the cheesy tater tot things and realized that God obviously loves me. Awesome spot. Pray on

Simply Marie's is a lovely local restaurant in Baltimore! Although I am not from the area, we were staying with a friend who lives in the neighborhood and stopped by. The food was delicious and the hospitality was amazing! The feeling of community was alive and well. The breakfast sandwich with turkey sausage on a bagel was great! Next time I visit Baltimore, I am sure to go back.

Pancakes and sausage gravy biscuits were great. Omelette was a little salty, but I think it was because of the bacon. Toddler approved! Has only a few seats. We sat outside and it was wonderful. Staff was very friendly.

Decent breakfast. It's definitely more reasonably priced compared to places on the square. I had the eggs benedict with home fries. Home fries were awesome. Overall the dish was decent. The eggs were nicely poached which is a must for a benedict. However, the hollandaise sauce didn't have much flavor. It needs a subtle hint of lemon and. Italian seasoning was also sprinkled on top which took over the taste. It would have been better if that was left off and improvements were made to the hollandaise. I would still return and check out the other items they have to offer.

Fantastic breakfast food and fantastic service. The menu has a great spread, lots of variety for every breakfast style. I particularly enjoy the omelettes. Very large portion sizes and reasonably priced. The owner, Marie, is the soul of the restaurant and makes easy and entertaining conversation as you place your order and eat in. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a non-chain breakfast place with character.

This was the last place I had saved to check out while I was visiting Baltimore. I'm going to be blunt and say that there are NOT enough solid reviews to justify Simply Marie's 4-star rating...even considering the fact that this is more of a local/neighborhood spot and not some high-end or fine-dining experience. I'm all for homey type places that have a personal feel where the owner/cook is friendly/connected with the patrons, but yet and still my experience tells me it's just not all there. Some of the items in the baked goods display looked questionable, and I happened to notice the liquid soap dispenser over the employee sink looked at least 10 years old and had turned color and coagulated (not a plus am I right?) Either way, about the food. The place closes at 1pm and I walked in at about 12:05pm, so I figured that although it was closing soon I could at least order what I had been waiting to get from the menu (which was the chicken and waffles) and get on. I was wrong. Allow me to tell my story: First off, I walked in and the place was empty bar one older woman who was sitting and waiting for her food to finish being made. I kindly said Hello and no one responded. No one was at the register, and I couldn't really see or hear anyone back kitchen working. Excuse my language but in all honesty by this point I was thinking "Okayyy wtf is going on here?" So with my hopes of enjoying Baltimore's take on Chicken and Waffles seemingly grinding to a halt I just sat and waited since the trip waited for service. After about 7 minutes my ideas were confirmed, as Marie walked out and asked what I wanted, and since I had already checked the menu on yelp I was quick with responding "Chicken and waffles please." She quickly nixed that and told me that preparing that particular meal takes 25mins, and that she had to be out by 1 to get to her 2nd job on time so I either needed to come back another time or order something else. Mind you, it was still 12:20 by this point, and while I respect the grind of working multiple jobs...my thought process still tells me that when you advertise certain operation times as a restaurant you honor them. Needless to say I was not impressed. I went ahead and ordered the Sammie Said It omelet, which was basic. The whole trip was a sunk cost by that point so I figured I'd at least try something else instead of schlepping to a whole other restaurant since I was pretty hungry. The meal itself was truthfully not even up to the level of omelet I could make at my own home...or anyone's home if you ask me. The potatoes were too greasy for one thing and probably contained more onions than actual potatoes. The omelet was supposed to come with cheddar cheese, but came with american. It was alright at best...the best part was the bacon. Sad thing is, the best part of my whole meal was the wheat toast with grape jelly. Now THAT was a delicious 30 seconds of eating. So while I doubt anyone will read this whole thing lemme just say that there are many areas of improvement for Simply Marie's to address before I'll decide to go back. Nuff said.

Terrible! If there's a zero star that's my scoring! I will break it down for you and it's enough warning for you not be a victim. First, we came at 12 noon for brunch and we actually needed to "ring the doorbell" so the door will be opened! Then as we walk in, bell chimes placed so low hit my bf's forehead and he is 5'10 in height. I wanted chicken and waffles but lady on the counter said its gonna take 20mins so I just ordered the omelet with crab and shrimp on it. My bf wasn't too hungry so I ordered 1 and lady asked me if I need a to share plate? My bf said He might just pinch one or two of my potato fries, and next thing I know, lady told me that's additional $3!!! Since when is sharing my plate of food chargeable with anything??!!! I zip my mouth and took a breath and as if it's not enough, when she ask me for drink, I said il take plain water, then she prepared one in a cup while saying, " Now normally if my son is here he will charge you 50 cents but I'm not doing that, cz though we pay extra for water here il give this free for you but so you know next time if my son is here, he will charge you." WOW, thanks lady for doing me such a huge favor!!! Now as I sat waiting, in my mind I knew the food must suck if service is like this and guess what, I was RIGHT! Omelet fried in an oil used for thousands of times probably (old oil taste like when you fry fish and you used that oil to fry an egg!) barely any crabmeat and the shrimp? Oh my horrid! I barely survived my first few bites. I guess I was hoping it could potentially get better but I know that's a dumb assumption. The wheat bread was too soggy from too much butter, potato fries in grease and high salt. So to those who scored this crappy place 4 stars, please rearrange your palate and get some decent place to eat! I paid $17 total for an omelet here! I work hard for my money and paying for such horrible food is a crime in my book! And oh, she did ask me if I liked my food and when I was being polite to say , I'm okay with it, she clarified why and I lied to say that I really want the chicken and waffles so I'm disappointed. She smiled and said, next call me ahead so il cook it and il give you a discount! Thanks, but NO THANKS!

Delicious chicken and waffles, just be prepared to put up with some attitude, because they don't really want to make you delicious chicken and waffles. As others have mentioned, when you order the best dish on the menu, which you should, you'll be dismissively told it takes 20 mins to prepare. Plan for this; my strategy is to call in a take-out order over the phone. If you live in the neighborhood as I do it is worth dealing with some sass once in a while for the sweet sweet fried chicken and lofty waffle. The chicken is "real" fried chicken, so good, in a different class than what you get at the Delmarva Cafe with the same dish. Marie's could probably do big business as a late-night chicken shack.

  • Tracie D.

First of all the food is good but dont expect for them to serve it to you. This is a walk up and order. I thought at least that they would bring it to my table but to my surprise the lady came outside to get me and told me it was ready. She could have brought it to me when she came to tell me it qas ready but she did not. She said they don't have table service.

  • Ellen S.

Fabulous food, friendly service and great atmosphere! The food was cooked and served by Marie herself and the food came out very fast even though I ordered eggs Benedict. Will definitely stop back by next time I'm in the area!

Solid spot for a breakfast after a heavy night of drinking. Biscuits and gravy were ok,best I've found so far in Bmore, but nothing to write home about. Chicken and Waffles were good. Wished they would make the chicken skin crispier. They may need to redredge. The flavor was all there. I would order again and again. Just something about crispy chicken skin, soft waffle, mixed with the sweetness of the syrup, and saltiness of the chicken itself. Eggs benedict construction was good. The taste was lacking due to the heavy hand on the italian seasoning that was all over the dish. Hollandaise sauce needed just another squeeze of lemon. Not bad,but I wouldn"t order again. Don't go thrash your well earned dollars at some high end brunch spot and get average food. The prices are fair for the food that is offered. I would return.

I had been hearing about this place forever from the local community, so we finally went this weekend and got the breakfast to go and took it to the park. The place isn't big, but there's a bunch of stools and a few tables. We got a TON of food for very little money, and it was good, hot, and tasty! They had biscuits as big as my face, I swear, I'm going to get one next time. They had typical breakfast diner food, but in a non diner setting. Definitely going to be my new walk to place for a diner type breakfast.

  • Eileen H.

I had high expectations of this place, and don't feel it lived up to them. Granted, the food is pretty good, inexpensive, and they give you huge portions. But the inside is way too tiny - there's only one table, so you can only sit there for a max 20 minutes, and they have 6ish barstools. It was incredibly hot and stuffy, and the staff wasn't friendly. I would definitely recommend just ordering the food and taking it home or to the park

Breakfast, breakfast, breakfast. From early morning until early afternoon. The cooks and hostess are friendly. Every break fast I had from here taste like home , Americus GA. The biscuits are super most and authentic. Even the vegetarian omlette was dvine. It's seems simple ,but their home fries are favorite item on the menu. Can't wait to go there every morning, excepts Monday's of course.

Go now! Run! If it's closed, wait outside the door! Huge portions, great service, reasonably priced. Blah, blah, yada, yada. If my plate fell on the floor spilling everywhere, I would just about dive after it. The chipped beef gravy is to die for! Not salty like all the other places on the planet. It was just plain awesome. The biscuits are the size of your head and oozing butter. Eggs, bacon, home fries, OH MY!! Even the coffee was delicious. I wished we lived closer but then I would be morbidly obese. I give out fives when I am blown away. I consider five stars a low rating for Marie's. They need their own scale!

I'll post pictures soon. You absolutely have to try this place. I'm glad I stumbled across it. I had the crab omelet which was packed with crab. I love crab meat. I also had the pumpernickel toast with grits...also both great. I got an apple cinnamon muffin to go. I wish I would have tasted it while I was there. I would have bought all of them!! There's cinnamon on top and in the inside there's bits of actual apples. Best muffin I've ever had!!! More than friendly workers and owner. Definitely go check out this place! :)

I find it entirely inconceivable that I've not written a review for my favorite go-to breakfast joint yet! Many people like to keep Simply Marie's a trade secret, but I'm not one of them! More patrons = more chance a place will stay afloat in a difficult industry. From my experience - and I've been to Simply Marie's more than a dozen times - you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Portions tend to be large. So if you're the type that orders two breakfast sammies because one doesn't fill you, that might not work out so well here! They have possibly the best home fries I've ever had, to the point that I didn't need to doctor them up with ketchup, butter or even salt! And the chicken and waffles are likewise the best I've had, and I happen to be a breakfast fiend! Hint: if you want the chicken and waffles, allow 20-25 minutes. You can call ahead your order for either carry out or dine-in. Like I said, you really can't go wrong with anything-- at least not anything that I've tried. The coffee is passable, a fair step upon your casual everyday diner coffee. Service has always been fine, though it's not a big thing since you order at the counter. Prices are good to moderate. Spread the word!!!

AAAHHHHH LEGIT CHICKEN AND WAFFLES. I could stop there... but I won't! I'm really lucky to have this neighborhood gem a block away from me. It's the most perfect weekend breakfast spot. Don't expect super quick service (unless you call in and pick up) because the food is all made to order from scratch. The portions are as big as your head, so if you can't finish it all for breakfast, set it aside and come back for it at lunch! So far, I've worked my way through the egg breakfast sandwich on a croissant, french toast, eggs benedict (really, really good hollandaise sauce), and a few types of omelettes, all delicious and so massive that it feels like you're carrying a brick back home with you. Location is small and no frills -- it has a few bar stools and counter space to dine in if you choose, but it's best to grab your food and go. The guy behind the counter is always pleasant. My favorite thing about this place is that it doesn't break the bank. You can eat like a king for under $10! If you're really splurging -- and you have the stomach capacity of an army of teenage boys -- grab a massive pastry form the pastry case for an after breakfast dessert!

Every time I come to Canton, visiting Marie is a must. They have the best breakfast/brunch in the area. The staff is friendly and helpful. I'm telling all of my friends about Simply Marie

    (5)
  • Lauren T.

I live in the Canton area, and I am a huge sucker for good bagels. My go to was always Towson Hot Bagels, but after showing up one Saturday morning, the line looked like one from Six Flags- without the 'your wait in line will be a half hour' sign. My girlfriend and I started strolling around the square, peeking into restaurants to see what they offered. But no dice on finding a bagel joint. At one point, she exclaimed, 'I just want a bacon egg and cheese bagel!' And at that moment, a passerby mentioned the delicious bagels Simply Marie's, and how it was just around the corner from where we were. It was love at first bite. Seriously. I don't know what they do to their bagels to make them so delicious, but I was in heaven. I got a plain bagel with cream cheese and my friend got her bacon egg and cheese bagel fix. I highly recommend this place, although I've just had one thing on the menu. I don't know how their other items on the menu are but I was very impressed! I'm actually sitting here about to walk there right now.

It you live in Canton and want a home cooked breakfast this is the place to go! Be ware that there is not a lot of seating, one table that sits 4 people and an L shaped counter to sit at. Ive had their french toast and corned beef hash. AMAZING!!!!! Family owned and operated.

  • Jessica S.

Not sure why I've been shelling out serious $$$ for brunch every weekend when I could have had a better meal for less at Marie's. Their portions are very generous. Get two platters to share if you want to try it all. The food was all delicious and the bacon was on point. The only thing that didn't blow me away was the coffee - it was too watery for me. Definitely planning on going back soon!

I would have never found this place if I didn't use Yelp. It is right next to Canton square but I never noticed the place let alone know that it serves delicious breakfast. If you are looking for homemade, delicious breakfast, this is a place to go. The seatings are limited so I would recommend a take out.

I eat at Simply Marie's during the week about every 4-6 weeks. There has never been a crowd when I have visited. I always order an omelet with sausage, bacon, and pepper jack cheese. The platter is excellent and comes with home fries (diced potatoes with onion done on flat top I believe) and toast. With coffee the total is around $9-$10. It is a fair price for a quick, hot, and large home cooked breakfast. Coffee is on point too. My favorite thing about Marie's is...Marie! She's old school Baltimore. Friendly and caring about her customers and community. Marie is one of those people who makes you feel like you are part of her family having a meal in her home. Loved the story she told about telling the man who was giving a couple police who were trying to eat a hard time to "leave my store."

New to Baltimore, went to Simply Marie's based on yelp reviews. This corner restaurant had a great menu, make sure to grab one on your way in, as the board is hard to read. The people taking your order weren't very friendly and didn't seem out together. They poured our coffee and then held it behind the counter till our food was ready (hello not hot coffee), and when our food was ready they left it under the heating lamps instead of calling for us to come get it. Also, not spectacular. Finally (and last nag) they charged us for water. However, food was great and really tasty. Very southern feel. Home fries were my favorite.

The best Breakfast food that I have eaten in YEARS .... My Wife is jealous because I have plans on eating out more and spending time with the Chef . Great location , worth the travel for me to come from across town. Service is Top Notch and the food comes out steaming hot :-) My favorite place is here & all my friends and family will be soon to follow !

  • Amanda C.

Kind of love this total hole in the wall... very unassuming corner spot. Absolutely no frills! Small, diner feel, but you order at the counter and food comes in to go containers with plastic silverware, so not a sit down breakfast place if that's what you want. Still, the food is yummy! The omelet I had was excellent and the homefries and grits are spot on. I had a waffle once with blueberries and the waffle was good but they just used a canned blueberry pie-like sauce and it was just ok. But, if you want a quick, easy, yummy place to grab some classic diner style breakfast food, Simply Marie's will do it!

My son & I wanted to try this local spot after reviewing on yelp ... The owner Marie invited us in & cooked the best breakfast :) I got the French toast ,eggs &. Bacon ... Omg ... The French toast was to die for !!!! My son got the Elliott omelet & home fries.. They were made w/ fresh onions & green peppers DELICIOUS !!!! The owner Marie was such a down to earth person.. We will definately be back !!!!

Stopped by on a Sunday morning for some breakfast. It is a small shop with only one table that has a 20 minute limit so we decided to carry out. I ordered the Decker omelette, husband ordered the chicken and waffles, and my friend ordered the benedict. At first, I was annoyed because we had got home and unpacked our things to realize that they had forgotten some of our sides (we ordered grits, bacon, and some home fries). When I called them, they were apologetic and said we could come back to pick it up if we were close by, luckily we were. Now the eating begins! I thoroughly enjoyed my omelette and grits. The Decker had pieces of steak (similar to what you would find in a cheesesteak sandwich), green peppers, onions, and mushrooms. It had good flavor and was a good ratio of egg to other stuff. My friend's benedict was okay, not sure if it was because we carried out, but the egg was poached until the yolk was hard so it didn't have the runny gooeyness :( My husband enjoyed his chicken and waffle, which smelled really good. I thought that their home fries definitely hit the spot - they were well seasoned and had a strong kick of pepper which I loved. Since it is so close by, I would definitely come back for breakfast.

Small tucked away place. I didn't even know about it until I saw it on Yelp. Totally worth checking out. I will be back again. FYI the chicken and waffles takes 20 minutes because it's made fresh. Might want to order ahead if you're in a hurry.

  • Waterent T.

My breakfast: biscuit, eggs over medium, turkey sausage, home fries and fruit salad. Biscuit wasn't fresh, eggs over seasoned, fruit salad tasted like beer...fermented a bit? But the home fries were great! I wouldn't recommend this place.

Had the French toast, eggs and scrapple and everything about it was great! The place was small, but so what. You're coffee comes in a styrofoam cup, so what. If you want a sit down brunch place to go to with 10 of your friends, this isn't it. But if you want a serious breakfast, then head on over. Will definitely go back again and again!

    (5)
  • John W.

The food was good. Not great but good. The service was very good. I would go back. One concern though was the seating. There was only one table and it was occupied. The rest was a counter type arrangement with tall chairs. I was there with my 85 year old mother who struggled to get into the tall chairs. I don't get the styrofoam. We ate there but the food was still served in styrofoam containers - very unappetizing. I understand managing expenses. But the food should have been served on paper plates at a minimum. Don't think I'll be able to get my mother to go back until they start using real plates.

Not quite what I was expecting when I searched brunch spots but I was pleasantly surprised! Had the day's special - pizza omelette - but I think I'm going to try to chicken and waffles next time, which everyone seems to recommend. I think the best part was listening to the sometimes heated banter between the kitchen and the front of the house. Ah, just like home...but better tasting.

    (4)
  • Elda L.

The food is fine, but the service sucks. That's why I'm giving this 3:5 stars. Otherwise, it would be 4:5 based solely on the food. The guy at the counter should learn some manners and stop being so standoffish and curt. Other than that, I'll be back if and when homeboy isn't there.

Soooo great - this little corner gem serves hearty portions of fresh home-cooked southern style breakfast foods. Everything is great. I can't wait to try their baked goods (muffins, biscuits, etc), but in the meantime the omelets, breakfast sandwiches, grits etc are really perfect for a morning breakfast or post-bar recovery.

    (5)
  • Steve p.

Food is good - especially like the pancakes and grits. The one thing that turned me off is the styrofoam plates. Hot food melts the plate and then tastes like the styrofoam. Not appetizing. As much as I liked the food that may stop me from returning.

Simply marie's just opened right off canton square. It is opened from 2am to 2pm and only does breakfast. I ordered an egg sandwich thinking this will be normal....wow! I have to tell you that it was the best I have ever had! This place has dishes from fried chicken and pancakes to the Irsay... You have got to try it. Seating is limited to a bar type atmosphere but bring on the hunger cause this place is a winner!

Okay so I've been sitting on this review for a sometime now. But all the while I've continued going to Simply Marie's and its just gotten hard to look them in the face with out putting this out there. Have you ever had something so good that just want to keep it to yourself? Well, that's what Simply Marie's is to me. Its my best kept secret, but finally I've decided to share it with my Yelp community. So where do I start? SM is open all night on weekends so a trip there at 4 am is not out of the realm of possibility. You walk up to the corner location on an all residential block. The sign says open but the door is locked, You ring the bell and a minute later they open the door and and now you're in the BEST breakfast spot in Baltimore, PERIOD. Lets start with the breakfast sandwich...Bacon Egg and Cheese, done by many adequately. But you have never had one like this. Well seasoned fluffily scrambled eggs and a lot of them, on buttered toast with your choice of cheese, topped with a mound of salty smokey crispy bacon, make this sandwich not only the biggest, but the best breakfast sandwich anywhere. The home fries are another treat made on a flattop griddle with lots of butter and onions and Miss Marie's special blend of seasonings make this a perfect compliment to their sandwiches. Finally, the Jewel of Ms Marie's crown is, not even on the menu, it is a special that seems to be offered all the time now, its the Chicken and Waffles. OMG! 3 Huge whole fried chicken wings and a fluffy sweet large waffle. So simple, but so amazing. The seasoning on the crispy fried chicken is something that I need to steal the recipe for, I have never had fried chicken this good, coupled with the sweetness of that waffle smothered in syrup and butter, mix the chicken and the waffle in one bite and it is a flavor explosion in your mouth. The hours are a little odd because this is a breakfast house but when they are open you are in for a treat. Thank You Miss Marie!

Been here a few times and have even met Marie! This place is awesome for breakfast! No diet goods, just good cookin' and eatin'! Do not go in here and expect table service or anything fancy. You order at the counter and grab a seat then you go back up and grab your food when it's finished (made fresh) and either either there or take it to go (all food is served in to go containers). You can call ahead and double park out front to save time. But this place is amazing:):):) Way to go Marie!

We were looking for a breakfast place and found Simply Marie's. we first drove by and was hesitant to go in. Very small and didn't look like anyone was in the place. I then looked on Yelp and started to read all the glowing reviews. My husband and I decided to take a chance. We are glad we did. The place was very clean and both Marie and her son was very nice and personable. The food was EXCELLENT! I had the Ellwood and my husband had the French toast and eggs. He gave me a taste of the French toast...it was excellent. I had home fries with my omelet and never had better. Portions are large and we came home with leftovers. We will definitely returning.

Love to support the local small businesses in Baltimore and Marie's is one of them. I have only ventured in once but the service and food was on point. I can admit that the order took about 25 minutes to be prepared - which was a hefty wait when there were only 2 other patrons in the establishment. I also think the prices are a bit high for breakfast food, but I can imagine the rent on a place in the Canton area is quite pricey as well. Will I be back? Probably. Let's just hope Marie can whip me up some breaky at a speedier rate this go round!

Omgggg their waffles are amazing! Their chicken and waffles is an awesome dish! I will definitely be returning soon! Their home fries are unique, they almost have a red color to them. They didn't rock my world but their chicken and waffles were so good I can't fathom giving them a review less than 5 stars!

Really bad service. We didn't even get to taste the food. They have a 12.95 build your own omelet which includes meat, vegi and cheese. Because my omelet was built to resimble the vegi omelet + baccon, they wanted to charge 15.95 for the omelet. I said I built my own. They said you want a vegi + baccon which means we charge extra for meat. Then said "if you don't like that....don't order". You are willing to loose a 30.00 sale over 4.00 when you are overcharging to begin with. Fiy there are 14 custom built omelets on the menu......everything is going to resimble something already on the menu.....that's why you have a build your own option for people who want something a little different. On top of that there is 1 table with a 20 min seating limit. No bathroom. Maybe the locals are happy about the deplorable attitudes but from a tourest stand point I will go somewhere that my patronage is appreciated.

I don't understand all the great reviews. I can make a better omelet myself...it wasn't bad but it was pretty flavorless, greasy and a little overcooked. I like when homefries have a few crunchy pieces but these were all soft... they were meh....I never add salt to my food but I did here. I saw a pic of the french toast and since I like real french toast aka pain perdu I decided not to order it because I had a feeling I wouldn't like it. On top of the subpar food the atmosphere sucks- its incredibly small with 2 tables and counter space with cold uncomfortable metal chairs... it's not the place you go for a brunch with friends. The service wasn't particularly friendly either.

Went here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. I ordered the pancakes with two eggs over easy and scrapple. Scrapple is as scrapple does, although the hot sauce on the table provided a new twist on the scrapple. The eggs were huge; probably some of the biggest eggs I have ever been served. They were also perfectly over easy with runny yolks that could be swabbed up with the pancakes. The pancakes were large, too, and delicious. They were fluffy and cooked just right. The other person in the group ordered the French toast, and they were quite happy with it as well. Black coffee was good, not weak. So, they serve the food on styrofoam plate? Big deal. I'm not eating the plate! Guy at the counter was very friendly, and he checked up on us during the meal. Definitely going back.

My fiancé and I just ate the most delicious breakfast at Simply Marie's. The sausage omelet was incredible, the home fries were so incredibly tasty, the ham steak was huge, the biscuit was perfect and the pancakes were amazing. This place is special. Marie was a do it all herself sweetheart. We wish a Simply Marie's was in our neighborhood. Amazing, amazing, amazing.

I am perplexed at all the rave reviews. It's diner food (big portions but not high quality) I got the blueberry pancakes with eggs and meat. My pancakes were overdone on one side and the pancakes were tough and dry overall not tender. I asked for butter and got a plastic cup of what I think was clarified butter. Menu says maple syrup but it tasted like artificial pancake syrup. Two out of 3 poached eggs were cooked solid. It's not expensive but I'd hardly call it cheap. My friend had an omelet with homefries which I think turned out better. Cheese makes everything better, right? And don't get me started on the fact that you have to drink your coffee out of styrofoam even if you eat there and they charge for tap water because of the stupid cups. My breakfast was $13 with tax/tip. For a few more dollars, I'd rather have a well made breakfast at a fancier place like Golden West. If you just want a full belly you want to stay in Canton, SM's is fine.

The food is quite good in this corner stop restaurant. We ordered a veggie omelette and corn beef hash which is making my mouth water. The restaurant has simple tables and bar seats along the window sill so but that's about it. The man behind the corner knocks this rating way down for me. Guys like him make me wonder why people even want to serve others. I hate feeling rushed and bothersome when ordering food. He forgot my side of bacon and somehow made me feel like the fool. Come for the food, not the service.

Had an immense craving for Chicken and Waffles and a quick google search led us to this place. When we arrived, they were not taking orders because of a spill in the kitchen. Come back in twenty minutes, they said. We came back, got our food and they gave us a free muffin for the wait! Bonus! Overall, the food was great and the service was friendly. Bear in mind, this is a really small place. Like five or six tables, including the ones outside. Well worth it, though.

If you would have taken a moment to assess the situation instead of coming out with a hot head you would have realized that we moved the first time your people asked us as we had my daughter over between us on the side of the soda machine at first. When you came out and rudely yelled at us you would have noticed I had moved my daughter on the other side of the table already. So that is a poor excuse trying to say that we were ignoring your people. Check your facts and your temper. I've seen other reviews and many say the same thing - that you and your people are consistently RUDE! Some have said they even call in their order and take it to go so they have as little contact with you and your staff as possible. So all that shows is you have no regard for your customers. Perhaps if you were a little less rude your business would grow to a bigger venue. My husband was heartbroken that as a black man he was treated more kindly at the white establishment that we went to after leaving your place.

Came here on a Saturday and ate outside. Excellent food for a corner restaurant. Omelets are huge and delicious. I had French toast and although it was good, I was jealous of my friends and their omelets. The owner (Marie) and cooks are all nice people and they enjoy being part of the neighborhood. Highly recommend them to anyone who wants a cheap, quick-prepared hearty breakfast.

We just moved to this area and have been looking for a quick breakfast place within walking distance to check out. We were not disappointed! We called our take out order in ahead of time and spoke with such a nice guy. Our order was ready when we got there. I'll warn you - this is probably much better hangover food or late night. There is a TON of butter in everything but I wasn't complaining. The home fries were sooo good but if you like crispier home fries, these aren't for you. The omelette was huge and fluffy with lots of cheese. As others have commented, they serve their food in styrofoam containers so you shouldn't wait to long to eat it. I will definitely be back for more!

So happy to find this little corner gem. Went today in search of breakfast food at noon and stumbled upon Marie's. Coffee was surprisingly good, and the guy at the front counter was very friendly and welcoming! Sausage gravy over biscuits was AMAZING! So southern, and made me feel like I was eating my mommas cooking. And next time I'm going for a large biscuit. Grits were pretty good and crispy bacon on the side. Great prices as well. French toast was good but the pancakes were great! Serving sizes were all fulfilling. We ordered, sat outside, and they brought it right out. Great service, and we definitely will be back again!

I wish I liked this place more, but I wasn't impressed. The good: My french toast and bacon were tasty. The not-so-good: It didn't appear to have AC, so it was hot inside, and the guy at the counter wasn't friendly. Even if you get your food to eat in, they give you a styrofoam clamshell. I also asked for a cup of water and got charged for a bottle. Just enough unpleasantness to make me avoid it in the future.

Hole in the wall type of place. Not enough variety. Omelet was dry. Grits were not tasty (unsalted and watery). Coffee was bad. Not a good breakfast experience.

Definitely my favorite place to get breakfast in the city. Omelets are fantastic and filling, sausage gravy is out of this world, homefries are salty and greasy and perfect, biscuits are definitely the best I've ever had, and Marie is a delight on top of all that.

I was SO excited to see chicken and waffles on the menu, but a little disappointed when I tried them. In fact, my experience here is about evenly split: -No table service and very few tables / seats. +Charming downtown neighborhood with outside seating and friendly passersby. -Chicken wings were underdone, not crispy. +French toast and waffles were heavenly. -Loud, chaotic atmosphere inside (we would have taken our food home if we hadn't scored a table on the sidewalk.) +OPENS at midnight on weekends (they know their clientele!) -Food comes in Styrofoam. Aesthetic and environmental cringe. I guess the bad outweighs the good. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing! I would try it again if in the neighborhood, but wouldn't go out of my way to do so.

Found the place on a random search and boy is it a keeper. The food has the southern home cooking style that I had yet to find I Baltimore. The homefries were excellent as they were well seasoned. The selection of omeletes was large and the one I picked was great. The service was outstanding! The son of the owner/cook was extremely helpful and seemed to genuinely care. We will definately be coming back for more.

Had I not moved to Canton, I wouldn't have needed to find a new breakfast place. Had my wife not had the yelp ap, we wouldn't have found Marie's. It is in the middle of a neighborhood, somewhat off the standard eating locals. They are only open during the day, but make a damn good made to order breakfast. Waffles, grits, bagel and lox. I am a little disappointed the chicken and waffles take 20 minutes, but it gives me an excuse to go when I have more time. I would recommend calling your order in and taking out. The place is small.

I love this place so much. I loved it when I first set eyes on it. It is a quaint building on a corner. I walked in and was told good morning from three people, super warm greeting. The placed smelled of buttery heaven and the people working we're so genuine and relatable. They were cracking jokes with one another and having a good time which made me feel very comfortable. My fiancé ordered the chicken and waffles and they said it would be a 20 minute wait. No problem. I ordered the eggs Benedict w/ home fries. We sat outside at a table and chatted while we waited. No they don't have a lot of decor or a trendy appeal but that's what is so great about it, it doesn't need dumb fancy things to attract people like the rest of canton does, the food speaks for itself! So 15 minutes later a gentleman comes out with our food and makes a joke about how my fiancé shouldn't share it with me because once anyone has a bite, they want the whole thing. And he was right, it was like crack. The chicken was so crispy, fresh and homemade. I was instantly jealous of his meal. Until I had a bite of mine. Best hollandaise sauce in the city hands down. Over all a truly great experience and can't wait to go back!

Just had this for breakfast. It is solid and clearly home made but it is nothing extraordinary. Had the sausage gravy and biscuits with potatoes. It wasnt hot when I ate it five minutes later so I microwaved it. The biscuit was dry and it could have used more gravy to moisten things up. The flavor was there. potatoes were great, with lots of chopped onions in them for flavor. Croissant sausage egg and cheese sandwich was standard and pretty good.

I'm just hoping that the last 3 times I've ordered carry-out was a fluke. I really am hoping, because this place has been mine and my wife's go to for that Saturday hangover for quite sometime. I've just started noticing a serious decline in food quantity and the strange up charge I received the other day. This place seriously has the best sausage gravy and biscuits. But to have to pay extra for the biscuit should be put on the menu and is a little absurd. It's kind of like charging for the muffin on an egg mc'muffin. I don't mind paying $9 for corned beef hash, but it needs to at least look like half of the picture posted and not one quarter. I have also noticed the cut backs on condiments that annoyed me when I had no syrup in my house. I really hope this wasn't the decline of such a great breakfast joint.

Amazing home cooked southern style breakfast. I can't believe it took so long for us to try it. Can't wait to go back. Buiscits with sausage gravy is fantastic and I've never had better pancakes.

Came here with some friends one Sunday morning before watching football. A very hole-in-the-wall place that I never would have looked twice at if someone hadn't brought us here. The food was great, and MASSIVE. Can't remember what I ordered but I know that it filled me up for quite some time. Only complaint was that the staff in the front seemed to be lacking some common sense ... we waited for a really long time until Marie came out and found out they never gave her our order ticket. She apologized profusely, and we didn't really mind because I have a feeling she basically runs this place on her own. Would recommend this place to anyone in the Canton area who needs some good, homecooked breakfast food.

I enjoyed a breakfast sandwich on a giant homemade biscuit. Wow. So delicious! The husband is experiencing various shades of ecstasy while devouring a "flexxilious " omelette filed with cheese, seafood, and of course Old Bay. Highly recommend!

Decided to try this on a whim. Was greeted as I walked in and the place was very clean. I couldn't decide between the pancakes and French toast so I ordered the Earsley Slam It which came with both. The French toast lived up to all the hype!! The pancakes were a little thick but tasty. Coffee was great too. I will definitely come back as I hear the home fries are to die for buy in already taking home 60% of what I ordered today.

My new go to for breakfast while in Baltimore. Genuinely good people running this place with an authentic southern comfort feel to anything you get . Eggs Benedict hit the spot and the pancakes and waffles looked delicious. I'll be back sooner than later.
