Ruth's chris steakhouse is always divine! They have the best filet mignon hands down. This particular Ruth's chris is in a very nice location. You can eat dinner and then go for a little stroll around the water. You can even walk all the way over to the busy inner harbor or over to harbor place and catch a movie or do some shopping. Check it out! Best Baltimore location for Ruth's chris!

I don't eat steak so this review is for the spicy salmon and shrimp dinner. The presentation of the meal was beautiful, however, the salmon did not taste as fresh as I would have expected for this caliber of restaurant. I ate most of it because I was starving but I really think they could do better with quality. We also got the lobster mac and cheese which was rather bland and the asparagus that was over cooked and too squishy to eat. The hollandaise sauce tasted more like mayonnaise and like it had been sitting out under a hot lamp all day. I also had the chop salad which was tasty but once again the lettuce was not as fresh as I would have expected. I was also surprised that this location was a very noisy dining experience. They have the kitchen open to seating and the cooks were very loud banging around pots and pans. Overall I'm pretty disappointed at how Ruth's Chris has declined in quality over the years. I doubt I'll go back to this particular location because of the mediocre food and the distraction of how loud the kitchen made this place.

We came here for a special occasion recently. The food was standard Ruth's Chris steakhouse fare. Nothing standout nor terrible. We did however have a bizarre experience with our waiter. He looked and spoke only to my husband. Literally would not even look at me. It was so bizarre and in-your-face chauvinistic I can't believe they haven't had other complaints about this guy. We didn't complain, but we have no plans to revisit. Somebody needs to tell this place that they are just a serviceable steakhouse. Nothing more, nothing less. It doesn't warrant the kind of snobbery they lay on pretty thick here. Maybe it once did. But these days everybody does a nice steak.

Everyone once a while you need to treat yourself to a nice fancy dinner. The Pier V Ruth's Chris location has valet parking for $10 which I recommend since parking around the area is often a pain and the parking garages near the Inner Harbor can run you over $20. I came here recently for a friend's birthday party so it was a larger group. This location has a separate party room that is on the other side of the hotel, which was kind of awkward since you have to walk through the hotel lobby. The service was what to be expected. The hostess offered to take our coats and asked us to wait at the bar for the rest of our party to get there. We were quickly seated when everyone arrived. The servers were friendly and attentive. They have what they call "Ruth's classics" which is a three course meal, including salad, entree, and dessert for either $55 or $60 depending on the entree you order. I started with the apple and walnut salad, which had a great combination of field greens, apples, blue cheese, and walnuts. I ordered the spicy salmon and crispy shrimp, which had a very good flavor and the seafood was cooked just right. Everyone else got some sort of steak and they all thoroughly enjoyed their meat. There was no choice for dessert for the Ruth's Classic meal (comes with a turtle cheesecake, which I am not a fan of) so I subbed it out for my favorite creme brûlée for an up charge. Overall, the experience is what was expected and the food was great.

So convenient having a great steakhouse in your hotel! Loved the food and the bar. Service was excellent. Make sure to request Ina, she's the best! Great food and great atmosphere.

Finally had my first dining experience at Ruth Chris (big sigh) outside of the sweet potato casserole and excellent waiter I was not impressed. Blueberry mojito tasted like seltzer water, and despite the stuffed chicken tasting like a pile of salt, I ate half out of courtesy to my friend who was paying. I do plan to go back for a steak, so maybe, hopefully, I will be able to add a few stars when this review is updated.

I consider myself a foodie and gourmet cook. Compared to other Ruth Chris location very disappointed. Room was way too dark and chairs not the most comfortable. Waiter was impatient and a touch surly. Bread basket was partially stale. No wine list offered and my Pinot noir selection was not poured at table but brought already poured in glass. Shrimp remoulade app was a five however and Caesar salad would have been nice but anchovies went missing. My group was 18 in number and very awkward at the very long single table to have any community conversation. My "medium" boneless prime rib steak arrived well charred on the outside and seriously over cooked not to mention being briefly challenged by the waiter about degree of doneness. Now I'm 3/4 through my steak and waiting for the unhappy waiter to show up for a second glass of wine. By the time it finally arrived my remaining salty steak was tepid at best. I would go on but already decided to go from 3 down to 2 stars.

I've had several people deter me from dining at Ruth's Chris. I've heard "it's good, but not really worth the money" so many times. What?! The steaks are SO WORTH every penny! This place has completely ruined me... I'll never enjoy steak anywhere else ever again! The bf treated me here for our anniversary knowing I'd never been. Our table was adorned with rose petals and we got a free slice of cheesecake to celebrate the occasion! Service was impeccable. Our waiter was friendly, super helpful, and quick to deliver us wine samples and sauces (for our shrimp cocktail).. and I can't even remember how many times someone had congratulated us on our anniversary lol. Our ribeye and filet were SUPERB. The most juicy, tender, and succulent steaks I've ever had. And the mashed potatoes were creamy, garlicky heaven. The bf has had Ruth's Chris many times, but he still joined me in 10 minutes of silence and pure delicious enjoyment. Literally, we were in sync - *cut steak, eat steak, eat mashed potatoes, drink wine, cut steak, eat steak, etc.* It was an excellent dinner... simple, but one of the best I've had in awhile. We left feeling stuffed, flattered, and incredibly satisfied!

I've been here several times for large financial dinners with a smaller, select menu. Decent service. Speedy with wine refills. The filet is hit or miss depending on the night but when they get it right it is delicious! Last time is was overcooked. The mashed potatoes side is great as well.

DISHONEST AND UNRESPONSIVE STAFF. My purse was stolen from the deck area in a span of a few minutes after my party moved two tables over due to a smoker. The hostess was able to identify the purse verbally to me when I asked about it. She said that she saw it on the table (I left if under the table) when she seated someone else there but seated someone at a table with purse already sitting on it?? The people that cleared the table said they didn't see it but someone moved it from the ground to the table if the hostess saw it. The manager, David Delulio, was difficult to chase down and defended his staff without asking anyone questions. I spent 4 hours trying to get info and cancelling my credit cards while crying (my phone had pics of my family that had not been backed up). While I never got to eat the meal I ordered, we were charged full price for it anyway. Classy.

If Zach is your waiter then you've got it good! Super attentive and makes great suggestions. We got the porterhouse for 2 and sides of creamed spinach and the sweet potato casserole or whatever it's called. Just the organization of the plates and the presentation was impressive. Our table wasn't very big but everything managed to fit. Zach turned two spoons over and laid the porterhouse plate on top to create some elevation. Then our dinner plates were put in front of us at a whopping 500 degrees with sizzling butter. Ahhhhh! There are few pleasures known to man more desirable than the smell of hot and ready-to-be-consumed BUTTER! We were asked if we preferred the filet side or the NY strip side first and Zach served us the requested pieces and even rubbed them in the butter for us. He returned later on to serve the remaining pieces. Great service! The steak was really good but I wasn't super crazy about either the spinach or the sweet potato. Everything together ended up being the perfect amount of food for 2. I walked out satisfied and full, not hungry or overly stuffed. Perfect dinner. Thanks Zach & Co.!

I just dined at this location tonight for Restaurant Week. I was very irritated with the SLOW service. The waitress was horrible. It took 25 minutes to get a beer and she brought the wrong beer. She never checked back until the salads came out. The food took forever to come out. I was so disappointed. Spent over two hours at this restaurant due to the poor service. Never again will I return.

Great Food & Service. I had the salmon with crispy shrimp, OMG, so good. We were celebrating an anniversary, this would not be somewhere we'd eat unless it were a special occasion as our bill including tax & tip was $155 for the two of us.

My husband and I went for Baltimore's restaurant week, Problems: 1) You don't find out there's a dress code until you step through the door. We live close so my husband decided to go home and change from his work clothes into something a bit more business casual. However, as we were eating we noticed several people in blatant violation of their "strictly enforced" dress code, which of course pissed us off. 2) The restaurant week special menu for that was VERY restricted and not at all what we were looking for. We ended up just order off of the regular menu. 3) I've had better steak from from Chili's... SERIOUSLY! I ordered a medium well petite filet and found it completely underwhelming. Maybe their other cuts of steak are better? I expected more out of a "STEAK HOUSE." Paying that much for a inadequate steak made me a bit upset. Positives: 1) We sat at the bar and our servers were great 2) The drinks were expensive, but they DEFINITELY weren't watered down! A little strong, but it's under the positives, so I'm not complaining. 3) My husband's pork chop... AMAZING. And is the only reason I didn't complain in the restaurant about my steak. I don't know if there are adequate words to describe it, it was so good! While my steak was completely underwhelming, my husband's double pork chop was FANTASTIC! I'd return, but I'd only ever order the double pork chop (medium well).

This place is not worth the money. You can make a better steak and keep your money. I've had better steaks for less. Pick somewhere else. The desserts weren't even all that either. I feel like this place is overrated. Sides are not even included in the prices. So a $44 steak then you have to buy your sides.

    (3)
  • Net Y.

Ok we were really looking forward to this. The place is very very expensive. You will pay $9 for a baked potato. And it's not layered in gold. It's just a plain old baked potato. All the sides are $9-10 extra. The $9 mashed potatoes tasted instant. The steak was good. Very good. Not better than Outback Steakhouse and at double the pice. It was slathered in butter. The AC wasn't working. An elderly lady almost passed out and had to be taken away in a wheel chair. It was hot and we were there in late July Service was spectacular. Ambience was lovely except for the non working air conditioner It was a one and done experience for us. Good food but not worthy of the price.

Excellent food and service, with a great ambiance that allows you to just sit back, relax and take it all in. A bit pricey for those in the middle income bracket, but definitely a nice treat for special occasions.

I've only been here for Restaurant Week (twice), and the second time was for a birthday dinner. Otherwise I would not have been inclined to go again because I was not that impressed. The first time I went I ordered the filet and mashed potatoes- both were satisfying. The filet was pretty dense and I saved half for lunch the next day. More recently I decided to try the stuffed chicken because my friend raves about it. I was VERY disappointed. The chicken is very well seasoned, and I find it unfortunate that the skin was the highlight of a stuffed chicken breast. I may have three or four bites of cheese in the entire thing. Starting from the outside of the chicken breast, it seems like it takes forever for you to get to the cheese filling so I was very disappointed. The highlight of the meal was the sweet potato casserole. It was absolutely delicious and I passed it around for others to enjoy. I decided to splurge and pay the extra 2.00 :) because I was not attracted to the basic restaurant week offerings most places serve as sides (mashed potatoes- blah!). Overall, I will not be back unless someone is paying or I am forced. For a steakhouse, I prefer Flemings. Also, it appears the dress code is more strongly enforced these days. When I first went a few years ago I saw a patron wearing a jersey. Now, it is required to wear a collared shirt. Someone in my party arrived wearing a t-shirt and he was required to wear a jacket (which the restaurant offered).

My husband and I love Ruth's Chris and this is one of the best we have visited. Our waiter Antonia made my anniversary dinner one of the best in 18 years and even sent a thank you card to my home. I absolutely love Ruth's Chris and this is my favorite location - hands down. We drive fro DC to Baltimore just to go here.

I love the fact you can sit outside. Mel (female) is a great bartender and server. I'm a very picky eater and come to find out the cheesecake is made in-house. If you like cheesecake. OOOOHHHH SOOOO GOOOD!!!!! The flavor of their steaks is awesome. Something I rarely eat. ENJOY

Went to this location during Restaurant Week. Not very impressed, particularly compared to their other locations. Service was kinda blah and the staff had a certain arrogance to them that was very unappealing. C'mon dude, YOU are serving ME food. Chop Chop Sir! The food was the real downer. As expected, their specials menu was limited. The steak was a little overdone and generally not as well executed as I would have expected and had received from their other RC locations. For the prices (specials or not), it was only worth that one trip. Next time I'd like to go to Ruth Chris, I'm headed to the Annapolis location where they've shown how to give me my money's worth.

Typically fine dining experience from Ruth's Chris. Entrees and sides are always great though predictable. Was nice to go with a work colleague who I've never dined with (other than sandwiches in the conference room). Had a nice glass of Cab to go with my ribeye, and my wife enjoyed a petit filet and crab cake. By far the best part of the evening was our server Mel. He is a credit to the chain!

Hubby and I were in the area to enjoy the fireworks for the 4th of July. Spur-of-the-moment trip and RC reservation. The restaurant is right on the water. It's walking distance; valet parking is offered. The weather on the 4th was a 100 degrees plus---and the humidity is a nothing topic. During the summer months RC usually relaxes the dress code---considering the weather. We never dress up to go to RC. I was in short khaki shorts, sandals and an off-the-shoulder top, hubby was in khaki shorts and a polo 3 button shirt. When we walked to the front counter to be seated and an irrate potential diner was going off the handle about being asked to sit in the back corner of the restaurant or return dressed in appropiate attire. He had on jeans with the "professional" rips in them. (That's what he called them), flip flops and a button down shirt. He was 2 sheets to the wind---may I add and was giving the restaurant a true show!! He went to every table and pointed out what the person was wearing that wasn't part of the dress code. A few people cursed him out---can you say classic entertainment!! The food is always good and well prepared. We had a few issues with the bartender, but nonetheless the evening was great. We got back to our hotel just in time for the fireworks---too hot to watch outside.

Food good. Service excellent. Price terrible !!! Don' go online for pricing because as I found out there is a difference in pricing for corporate owned Ruth Chris Steak House and non - corporate. When I took in the ad from online the Pier V would not horror it and was informed that they could charge what ever and the price on the menu was it. Ruined the special birthday dinner for me. I plan on not going back to a Ruth Chris Steak House again.but trying out many of the 50 Best Restaurants in Baltimore just published by the Baltimore Sun.

This is my second time visiting a Ruth's Chris and from my previous visit I was not looking forward to being impressed at all. To my surprise, the service was Excellent, the food was Great and the owner and waiter was very attentive to our needs. That goes a long way. My wife had scallops that was tasty and my steak was excellent and prepared to my exact specifications. I really appreciate this and I wish I remembered my waiters name but I wish him the best in his endeavors he expressed doing.

This was my first visit to any Ruth Chris establishment. We went during Summer Restaurant Week, so the selections for the RW menu were limited, but not bad considering the $30 price tag for a 3-course meal at one of the more expensive restaurants in town. The first disappointment happened during the drink order. I don't drink alcohol, but i love a "nice" non-alcoholic beer before a good meal. When Colleen informed me that they carried Buckler, I thought "nice" and I ordered one. But then she quickly informed me that they had recently switched to O'Doul's, I was really taken aback. I thought, 'O'Doul's...Hell-LOW, what are you Green Turtle?' There are so many good imported NA beers out there, and for a restaurant of this calibre to serve this least common demoninator is rather appalling. STRIKE 1! I ordered a lemonade instead. For appetizers, there was a chicken and sausage gumbo or a watermelon salad, which sounded unappealing. Colleen informed us that we could upgrade to one of their regular menu salads for an extra $4, which was fair. I decided to get a Caesar, but I also wanted to try the soup. Colleen was QUICK to remind me that I would have to pay FULL PRICE for the Caesar. I knew that, no reason to treat me like "piker." STRIKE 2! The gumbo had a scoop of rice sitting on top, much of which was not completely cooked. As I ate it, I discovered this crunching sensation and had a flashback to the 1980s when I broke a tooth on a random piece of uncooked rice. This soup had many, many kernels of uncooked rice, so I had to eat it very carefully. STRIKE 3! My Caesar was nothing special, under-dressed, barely any hint of anchovy flavor, and served with halved grape tomatoes. That struck me as more odd than creative. I did like the shaved parmesan. BTW, I had had a FABULOUS Caesar at Ciao Bella, in Little Italy the night before. For entree, i ordered the 6-oz Petite Filet, medium rare. Vegetables are not included with any entree, so we ordered some "Steak Fries" to share....more about these later. The Filet was the only beef selection on the RW menu. It sounded like a pretty generous size and it WAS a decent portion; the flavor was another story. It arrived sizzling (on a 500 degree plate, as Colleen informed us), with nothing else on the plate, except some rapidly evaporating juices on this very hot plate. I know the filet is less flavorful than other cuts due to the lack of marbling, but this filet had barely any taste. I detected no seasoning, and as far as the flavor of the beef, it was fairly non-descript. I rarely do this, but I requested steak sauce - Heinz 57, nice touch, so much better than A-1. I think a large pat of butter on top of the filet might have helped more but I already sensed that Colleen was growing impatient with my less than glowing impressions of the food. The steak fries were not fried at all. These were large wedges of potato which appeared to be roasted but without any seasoning or oils, despite their description as containing fresh rosemary - I tasted none. The roasted garlic and sun-dried tomatoes were there, but gave little flavor to these very bland potatoes, as they were just sprinkled over top. I had to request ketchup, which I ONLY ever use on fries with no flavor, such as these. Dessert was Chocolate Sin, a flourless chocolate & espresso cake. It had the consistency of a dark chocolate cheesecake. It was very good! For the record, I don't consider this a bad meal, but considering where I was eating, I was very disappointed and probably would not return here. It was not a memorable meal. In retrospect, I even wonder if Ruth Chris' purpose during Restaurant Week is to serve such a mediocre meal to the non-regulars, that they won't be coming back. It's something to consider at any rate. I sure won't be returning.

After years of putting it off, I finally broke down and tried Ruth's Chris. I have heard nothing but great things about the brand (versus a particular location) but just always preferred a more adventurous menu when dining at that price point. I always figured that it would be great, but it's just steak (something I rarely order out) and indulgent side dishes. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE a great steak, it's just that the menu is so simple that it never really interested me. On Friday I decided to take my dad to a nice dinner and figured it was time to see what all the hype is about. The dining room was nice - formal, clean, and comfortable. Our server promptly arrived to communicate the specials and take our drink orders. I quickly challenged his Maryland Crab special as it was February and he corrected himself on the return trip (the crabs were from Florida). We had a nice bottle of Shiraz (Molly Dooker Blue Eyed Boy) that was on special for $64 along with Fried Calamari for an appetizer, followed by a filet and a bone in filet (special) accompanied by steak fries and fresh spinach. The calamari was excellent, as good as I have had anywhere, but was a simple preparation. Both steaks were cooked perfectly medium rare as ordered - mine was really good, but just nothing special. My dad's bone in filet was better, but again not spectacular. Our spinach was bitter and overly seasoned with garlic and the steak fries were good but plain. For dessert we split the chocolate sin cake and we each had coffee drinks. The coffee drinks were awesome but the cake was just really good, again not spectacular as I was expecting. Overall the experience was very good, just not worth the price in my opinion - our total was $300 ($250 + $50 tip). I would be willing to try it again, but no rush.

Best Steakhouse in Baltimore! I tried Captial Grille, Morton's, Flemmings and Ruth's Chris! without a doubt best service and best for the price. They may all be good but I think this one outshines them all. Great food, service and well as long as you expect to pay and are not surprised at the cost this is the most outstanding of them all

Amazing food. Had the salmon, veal chop and steaks ordered at our group's table. Everything was delicious. Apparently my half of the table missed the waiter saying the side dishes were enough for two to three people to share, so we ordered too much. Definitely on the pricey side for what you get. Probably will return for a special occasion, but won't be a regular spot. I didn't order dessert but I heard no complaints from those that did at the table!

New Years eve and we got their early so we opted for the bar which was a great choice. First the location is really pretty inside and it was decked out for the holiday. Liz was our bartender and she greeted us immediately and we so enjoyed her we asked if we could have a table in the bar area for dinner, which they accomodated us with and we had Liz for dinner! (A matter of speech.) Trust me if you can have her for your waitress you will have a great evening. We started with the blackened scallops in pesto...to die for. Hot, sensual and wonderful. While enjoying drinks we did order a bottle of champagne to help with the festivity of the evening. They had a reasonably priced wine list as well. We had the steakhouse salads and a filet and sirloin both cooked perfectly. Their side orders are always great so we had the traditional asparagus and the creamed spinach. So much food but no room for deserts. Parking is easy with valet parking.

I was very disappointed when I realized I was going to be ordering chicken from a steakhouse. My parents brought me here while visiting me in Baltimore (a long drive for them), and I was not willing to let them pay $40 for a steak for me. The chicken I did get wasn't bad, but I've made better myself. The place itself was nicely enough decorated, but it still felt dull. For the price of the food, I expected bigger portions and more deliciousness. The bread pudding I got for dessert was the same size as my chicken, though. Delicious dessert, but they took it away when I wasn't looking--about 40% was still on the plate! I was very upset that I didn't get to finish it. Overall, the food, price, and experience weren't enough to tempt me to go back.

I was mad when leaving this restaurant. I was so disappointed at the money I spent, the food I ate, and the service provided. Ok, so somethings were to be expected. On Father's Day, I made a reservation for 10. So there was a wait. I understand that. After we were seated, there was a wait again, for service to arrive. After waiting for the mediocre food and fairly small servings, we then waited for our very large bill, which we then waited to pay for. Bleh...

I love how everyone complains about the prices at any R.C.'s and I DO understand that it can be quite expensive (esp. if you drink as well). But this is a place you go for special occasions (in my opinion), and it could NOT be more worth it. I have to agree with Jacqueline B.'s review completely. I mean you just do NOT get service like this place offers (so far I've been to 3 different locations - 2 in Baltimore and 1 in Las Vegas). I understand that people like Outbacks as well, but the service has always been sub-par for my experience. They are too "family-like" for my taste really. Plus I'd rather pay for a top dollar meal and service that I know will be perfect. We always like to sit at the bar for our meal, but even the bartenders/servers there are amazing. And this location is no different. They must put their servers through some seriously awesome training. I've never been disappointed in either the food or service or drinks. P.S. The Peach Bellini is the best!!!

This was the second time I ever went to Ruth Chris. The first time was in New Orleans and I was not a big fan. Ruth Chris regained my vote. I started with a shrimp cocktail and ceasar salad and they were both very good. The thing that stole my vote was the ribeye. The steak came out on a piping hit plate and was filled with misture and flavor. I also had the mgarlic mashed and wild mushrooms as a side. I was very happy with the mashed potatoes but not with the mushrooms. I would definetly go there again.

I celebrated my birthday this weekend and picked Ruth's Chris Steak House because I absolutely love the food and my friend never had a Ruth's Chris experience. I have been to four different Ruth's Chris Steak Houses along the east coast and the Pier 5 location is my favorite so far. My good friend had her first Ruth's Chris experience at Pier 5 and was blown away by it. She was amazed by the ambiance, service, drink choices, and the food. It was entertaining to see her have so much fun eating and enjoying fine cuisine. We definitely tried a variety of foods. We had calamari, ahi tuna, chopped salad, new york strip steaks, creamed spinach, mashed potatoes, and crème brûlée. With each bite of food, we both raved about how tasty everything was: from how juicy and flavorful the New York Strip is to how smooth and subtle the Crème Brûlée is. Also, the Shiraz that our server suggested fully complemented our steak and added a nice touch. We both agreed that whenever we had something to celebrate, we are going back to Pier 5. Once again, Ruth's Chris, you've created another raving fan.

I went here for Valentines Day and what a major disappointment. They had us seated in the hotel conference room that was attached to the restaurant, no ambiance at all. They literally had a few fake flower petals on the table and some ugly, grape and Christmas light thing in the corner. We were in ugly conference room chairs. The food was ok and actually had the Valentines "upcharge" written on the bill. you had to pay to park. The staff was snobbish at best. There was so much more than i have time to complain about. It was awful and we will never eat here again. I wrote to complain to management and talked to the manager at the restaurant to express our disappointment. A sorry, too bad, so sad was pretty much all I got from them. They didn't seem to give a crap.

We received a $200 gift card and decided to get dressed up and go. We arrived early for our reservation and were seated right away. We had 2 servers, the atmosphere is fancy and romantic. We ordered the Porterhouse for 2. My boyfriend loved the NY Strip side, but I thought the Filet side was delicious. We will definitely be going back in the future. The experience and food is well worth what you pay.

Great dinner this past weekend! Plates are very hot so remember to order one temperature below what you want - and adding blackened to any of the steaks makes them that much more delicious!!

Used to enjoy going to Ruth's Chris for special occasions and steak but had a horrible Friday night dinner experience recently. Maybe it's because I was sitting on the patio but the service was very slow, and the server must have been new because she absolutely did not know what she was doing; we sat down to a table covered with leaves from the tree above which no one bothered to clear for us. The customary dinner rolls never came. I ordered a simple burger from the menu which took a full 45 minutes to arrive. it was completely cold with a stale and cold bun that crumbled into pieces the minute I picked it up. Asked the server for ketchup for the fries which again she forgot to bring until 10 minutes later. Rarely do I send dishes back but this being completely inedible, I not only sent it back but asked that the order simply be canceled, as a full hour had passed by this time and my appetite was completely gone. Of course the manager came by to apologize and offered a free dessert, but he should really have just picked up the tab for the whole dinner- actually just my boyfriend's, since I didn't even eat anything at all. In all honesty I was pretty disappointed that a restaurant with such a great reputation in the past had fallen so far. Maybe it was just having an off night but as I had ample time to sit and stare during all that while waiting for my food, I noticed that manager was doing quite a bit of damage control at at least two other tables on the patio that night. Big Strike out, Ruth's Chris. I will not be eating here again.

This was our 2nd visit to Ruth's Chris. First time was 20 years earlier in Austin TX. I vividly remember returning to Baltimore and raving to friends if you ever go to Austin be sure to eat at Ruth's Chris....... (I didn't realize it was a chain although only a few locations were open back then). I'll remember this visit for all the wrong reasons. Starting with the positive we loved the valet parking, cordial greeting by hostess staff upon arrival and attentive service from our waiter. Cocktails were fine if a little pricey @ $14 each. Things went downhill from there. I ordered the filet with shrimp, my hubby the strip with a la carte salad and side. My filet arrived medium rare at best although I had ordered medium. In fact mine was slightly rarer than my husbands strip which arrived medium rare as ordered. The waiter did a prompt check back and whisked my plate away. Several minutes later returned to me medium. Of course the shrimp were completely overcooked at this point and my garlic mashed had grown cold sitting on the table. I was so disappointed that I decided not to join my husband in ordering a glass of wine a shame for the the waiter who lost out on building the check due to the kitchens error. Two managers did stop by and apologize " sorry we didn't get it right first time" not sure what they could do to make it right but honestly a steakhouse at this price point ($190 with tip) no excuse. At least bring a fresh side to accompany the entree. My husband did enjoy his strip although it was not the best cut with a lot of waste Dessert was not bad but confusing. Cheesecake creme brulee served with a chocolate cookie and preserves? maybe apricot? A very odd desert plate - stick with cheesecake. Two other observations, we had made reservations for 6 pm were seated promptly and offered our choice of a table or booth, we choose poorly with a booth. With only a short wall between the booths and kitchen it was so noisy we felt like we were sitting at a diner. Totally our choice but I'm warning you will have trouble having conversation if seated in a booth next to the kitchen. Lastly the ladies room was not the cleanest I have ever been in - Really 2 hours into service?

We sat on the patio, enjoyed live music, and sampled the $5 menu items -- all yummy. Kobe beef sliders were the only less-than-great apps. Just too small and bland, beef and bun, that's it. Delicious crab cake. Fried calamari was covered in a spicy sauce; I'd suggest asking for that on the side because it was too much for us and we left a lot on the plate. Great rail drink prices - $5 - and they use good name alcohol in rail drinks. Very attentive service and overall was a great night out without going broke.

Stopped in on a sunny Sunday late afternoon to check out the happy hour bar menu. This isn't my usual type of place, but is much nicer and more welcoming than I anticipated. It is elegant and clubby looking. We were there very early, sometime between 4:30 and 5. The place was pretty empty but was very well staffed and the staff was very attentive and professional, and maintained a nice level of service even as the restaurant began to fill. The four of us sat at a small bar table, but received service that was much better than most luxury dining. We had $5 glasses of wine, a Lehman syrah, which was pretty good for the price. Two of my friends had the onion soup from the bar menu, which they raved about the whole time they were eating. They were especially pleased with the beef stock, which shouldn't be a big surprise at a steak house, but non the less isn't always the case. Another friend had the $5 seared tuna with mustard sauce from the prime time menu which was 6 nice slices of seared tuna and some hot homemade potato chips on the side. I had the $5 mini Kobe burgers, two small but delicious bits of beef on a bun, with a side of the same chips. Because everything was so good, we couldn't resist sharing the ceviche from the regular menu. I think it was a little light on the described scallops and fish, but it was seasoned very well and I'd definitely give it another try since it was so tasty. Our tab including a 20% tip came to just around $100, which isn't too bad for each of us having had a few glasses of wine and the food listed above. In those surroundings it seemed like a bargain.

Last month, my mother turned 50 and to celebrate, my father and I planned a surprise dinner for her at Ruth's Chris. We worked with Jessie, the director of private dining, and chose an all inclusive menu that had a great price for a party of 16 people. She was very accommodating to our changing needs and our family kept it a surprise until the day of the dinner. When my mom walked into the dining area, she was shocked to see her whole family waiting for her. She was very happy and we sat down for dinner. Our appetizer was Seared Ahi Tuna and it was excellent. Seared Tuna is one of my favorite kind of fish to eat and this restaurant does a wonderful job, cooking it to perfection. For our dinner, everyone had a choice of Steak House Salad or Caesar Salad. I had the Caesar and the it was great. Just the right amount of dressing and had flakes of Parmesan cheese. The main course was a choice of steak and shrimp, a New York Strip, or stuffed chicken breast with cheese and lemon butter. I had the steak and shrimp and ordered it medium well and it was cooked exactly as I ordered it. The steak practically melted in my mouth. The shrimps were succulent and popped in my mouth with every bite. I tried the chicken and the New York Strip as well and they were both very tasty. Our sides were creamed spinach and mashed potatoes and the portions were more than enough for everyone to share. The spinach was the best I've ever had. Our dessert was a choice between chocolate sin cake or cheesecake with berries. I chose the chocolate cake and I wish I could have had two slices! The chocolate was so rich and the cake had a raspberry sauce drizzled over it. It was heavenly! Ruth's Chris always does a great job with their cooking and service. I have been several times and have never been disappointed. All of our waiters were wonderful and very attentive to all of our needs. If you need to plan a private party, Ruth's Chris does an excellent job with a price that is too good to be true. We looked at Roy's, Morton's, and a few other nice restaurants in the Baltimore area and Ruth's Chris had a price that was about half the price of the others. With the other restaurants, there were chef fees, room fees, service charges, and 18% gratuity. With Ruth's Chris all-inclusive menus, EVERYTHING was included in one low price. This is definitely the way to go.

The wait was well worth it. My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary. We arrived late but had to wait 20 minutes for a table to open up. We were then seated and we had a lovely view of the parking lot. This was ok because we were people watching and enjoying our conversation The waiter came and introduced himself and we started with drinks. I was hungry so I ordered more food than usual. I had the Cowboys Ribeye at $55 weight 20 ounces. My wife had the smaller Ribeye 18 ounces at $49. Both were cooked spot on to our order. It had been about 5 years since I last dined here. Everything was spot on. I will return here soon.

I attended a 50th birthday party at this location. I must say I was very impressed. The outdoor deck over looking the water was very nice and inviting. The staff were friendly and professional. The past heavy hors d'oeuvres were plentiful and tasty. The cocktail prices were not too bad. Parking is quiet difficult at this location due to it's proximity to the pier six concert venue. Overall great time and Ruth Chris put on a great event.

What an experience! By far the best steak I had in my life, well worth the price. Nothing was lacking, the crab meat appetizer was on POINT! The sides were great and the dessert was wonderful.

Absolutely amazing food! Each bite was worth it's weight in gold. Had the 16oz. Ribeye w/ Lobster Mac & cheese and asparagus. Raw oysters as the appetizer. A truly excellent birthday dinner. Our waitress Kelly was just as good as the food. Thanks for a great birthday dinner!

I tried the H/H at Ruth's Chris Steak house, overall i was a little disappointed. I ordered the burger which i suggested medium, came out well done and burnt, i just ate it, didnt have time to quibble. I ordered 3 drinks the blueberry mojito-wack, margarita-ok, and the promegranate martini-that was the best tho i dont drink martini's in general. I will go there again since the view is spectacular, i just wont order the items that i wasnt satisfied with.

An awesome evening enjoying oysters Rockefeller for the first time. The waiter David is a star in his own right; check him out in the Netflix series House of Cards filmed locally. He went above and beyond with his service. I was totally pleased with my spicy salmon with salt and pepper shrimp. For side dishes, I had the creamed spinach and au gratin potatoes. The portions are hearty and are enough to share. Dessert didn't disappoint either. The creme brûlée with berries is the stuff food porn is made of.

This was the only bad meal we had while in Baltimore. I ordered scallops expecting large melt in your mouth scallops, I got 5 very small tough scallops which was not as fresh as I had hoped. My husband ordered the filet which had a peppery spicy crust which over powered the steak. The lobster in the lobster bisque soup was about a tablespoon of shredded lobster - it was almost embarrassing having it in the bowl to see before the soup was poured over it & the flavor was very bland. And last, we ordered banana foster. The bananas were cooked to mush, then poured over the ice cream; the waiter then realized he forgot the spoons - a bowl of soupy mush when he got back with spoons. I would have been disappointed if this meal was $75, let alone $175. Would not go back...

I have been to many Ruth's Chris all over the country. In fact I think I could tell the story of the history of this place by now. Despite being a higher end establishment I have encountered a few Ruth's Chris that fell far from expectations but this particular one at Eastern Ave went beyond expectations and did the franchise proud. I of course ordered a steak and it was the cowboy ribeye along with potatoes au gratin , creamed spinach, and oysters Rockefeller for appetizers. Yeah that seems like aplenty but I had a guest with me so don't judge me. The oysters were cooked very good but coming from the Gulf Coast I expected more than six with your order but this could have been a good thing because the side items were huge and more than filling. The only worry I had was if I was going to be able to eat it all. The steak was cooked perfectly to the medium I requested and required no additional seasoning or even steak sauce or ketchup for those unusual people that actually use ketchup on steak. The drinks were also well made as I had the mojito de castro and tried the port of Manhattan. Both drinks were right on target. I am not a dessert person but I manged to save some room for an excellent creme brulee. When you go to this establishment the one thing I always get is great service. I was lucky to have David as our host and he was great. Looking forward to my next trip there as I might get a bit crazy and try a non steak entree. Who am I kidding it is a steakhouse and I know what I will be dining on.

Came here for happy hour this time! Sat at the bar. I got to the bar around 5:20pm, and the place was pretty empty. The friendly manager led me to the bar and got me water and the menu. Then the bartender, James, showed up. What a friendly guy! Talks like an educated man and well-mannered. Had a great conversation with him. The beer available for the $3 happy hour deal are your usual Bud, Bud Light, Miller Light, and Michelob Ultra, all bottled. Nothing on tap. Got the Michelob to start. Ordered both the Steak Filet Sandwich and the Prime Burger in medium well. Each was $9. Both came with perfectly seasoned fries. None were burnt. Both came out as medium well. The Steak Filet Sandwich was def 5 stars, the burger was a bit greasy, but still thick, juicy, and tender. 4 stars The quality and service were exactly what I expected from Ruth Chris, and they did not disappoint.

Went for happy hour with my BFF. I got the crab blt and she got the cheeseburger. We shares the lobster bites. I likes my crab blt but was too full after the complimentary bread and lobster bites. The lobster bites were my favorite. For 9 bucks a dish, I thoroughly enjoyed my happy hour experience and will return. The atmosphere was romantic and would be great for a date. My BFF and I sat in the lounge and the staff was superb with attentiveness. We didn't get any alcoholic drinks but they had some good choices for 7 bucks. My BFF really enjoyed her burger and finished every bit.

Pros: Cool location at the harbor, there's a deck outside so you get a good view of the harbor, and some of the wait staff are friendly. The food is good and consistent with the Ruth's Chris quality. Cons: Unfoetunately, there were too many to list. We recently had a sully waiter who just seemed pained to be at work. Our party tried to break the ice and ask about his night but he said he was at work so didn't have to enjoy himself and have fun. Also, there's a freekin 50 cent surcharge for getting a whiskey or scotch neat. He said it's because without ice you get a smidge extra alcohol. :-| Since they're that cheap and stingy with the pours, that surcharge should be hidden. It's not the cost, it's the principle. Besides, enjoying a whiskey or scotch neat should never be punished. Pfft! A few other negative things occurred including the fact that as he asked if it was anyone's first time, and when one person said yes, he didn't even welcome her, or thanks for joining or choosing RC or anything. If you're not going to acknowledge it, why ask? Worst part? When I was upfront with the waiter at the end about the less than enthused dining experience, he didn't say anything. Most would ask why, or what was wrong but he didn't seem to care. He did, however, tell a manager who came over so then I figured that was his way of caring. Abrupt, but hey....Manager apologized for the issues and after I listed them all (was more than the list above, sadly), she asked if there was anything she could do. I didn't want anything, just to explain the issues to someone who could address the issues. Oh, and she did say they've had other people mention and question the surcharge. Hate to give negative reviews but this aspect of the experience cast a shadow on a celebratory night. My recommendation? If you want a good steak, go to Fleming's around the corner or Ruth's Chris on Water St. Do not spend your money where it's not appreciated.
