I cannot believe the bad reviews. I was visiting and stopped in. Great service and food. I ordered the fried seafood platter (catfish, scallops, clam strips, shrimp, crab cake and baked potato).

This was bad.... Really bad. Someone recommended Mo's but it wasn't until it was too late that we realized that we were at the wrong one a block away. They should be banned from calling themselves Mo's. Food was tasteless and atmosphere was dull. We had what they said was fried flounder and shrimp. Won't make that mistake twice. When we got back to our hotel and told the concierge where we went, he was so sorry that we made that mistake and said a few people have. At least we know we weren't crazy.

So I have been wanting to try this place for a long time because it is said to have the "best crab cakes" in Baltimore and I am glad I finally came here. The crab cakes are big and don't have any filler which is what Baltimore is known for so good job! Our server Amir was awesome and while he told us that most people eat 1.5 crab cakes, we still shared the crab cake plate and thank goodness because it was too much food for my friend and I! Amir was also one of the most honest servers I have ever had! From the moment we sat down he was attentive and gave us positive feedback. I had asked about the crab fluffs and his face really expresses how he felt about them so I didn't order them. Also when we're were interested in ordering the catfish, he suggested trying something more local. Overall the food was decent though it was maybe a step from a chain restaurant in terms of ambiance, service, and decor. Not sure I'd go back when there are so many places on the water where you could get crab cakes but I'm glad I checked it out.

WARNING: DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! This restaurant reminds me why you AWAYS have to check yelp before just going by word of mouth. My parents and I are up from Florida and wanted to try "the best local seafood". Wow...I feel like the people that recommended this place to us were playing a cruel joke. Let's start with first impressions. When you walk in, it's very dirty and mediocre. Not what I expected from a well known local place. Thought it would be...a little more effort put in you know? Crud on the floor...very poor atmosphere and depressing. We were seated at our small, round white tablecloth covered table with partially stained napkins?? Anyway, the first red flag were my parents' wine glasses. There was some green leafy type food on the edges of the glasses. Ew. When brought to the attention of the slow waitress, she said nothing as she grabbed both glasses and walked away..really?? No apology? Once that was taken care of, out came out our appetizers. I'm not that into seafood so I got the chicken fingers and fries. My parents got the cream of crab soup, Maryland crab soup, and some kind of crab stuffed oysters. #1- My fries were old and ice cold, with slightly warmer than room temp chicken. Sent it back with a nice eye roll from the waitress, and once again no apology. Waited for my fresh food. #2- My mothers crab soup was bland and gravy-like, with slim to none crab chunks. Disgusting. Sent back and taken off the check, but here's the catch: the waitress says, "yeah that doesn't really sell its not that good." Well why didn't you say so?? And if it's so bad and you all realize this, why not change it? The oysters were just ehh. Nothing special. Definitely not worth $16. My fathers soup he had no problem with. It went downhill fast from that point. When I got my food back, the fries were hot but not fresh, and the chicken was the exact same temp as before. And the chicken literally tasted like the kind you buy frozen at the store. I wasn't hungry anymore. My family and I decided we were done here, and decided to just pay for our appetizers and refuse to pay for our entrees that hadn't come out yet. And people that came in 15 mins after us got served before we did. We asked for the check and were blown away that just after two appetizers, a soup, and three glasses of wine ended up at a whopping $72. So with crappy service they decide they can pin an included 17% tip on your bill. Wow. All in all, DO NOT LISTEN TO THE LOCALS AND DO NOT COME HERE!!!

We were pointed here after asking a local what the best seafood in Baltimore was. If this is the best seafood in Baltimore. .....no thanks. The place is very large, and on a corner on a busy street. Worried that it was closed on memorial day, we hesitantly peeked in....and saw one family dining! Perhaps I should've just gotten pure seafood. The prices were a bit hefty, so I chose to stay on the appetizers page instead of trying the famous crab cakes. I also ordered a soup, which came out suspiciously quickly....very mediocre. My cheese-encrusted clams were too heavy and greasy, although I could taste hints of fresh seafood under all that grease. Other dishes ordered by the table were also very mediocre, except the fried scallops. Someone ordered a seafood platter thing that was filled with a strange egg/mustard/mayo sauce holding together chunks of potential seafood....no thanks. Service was also very slow; it took almost 20 minutes to wave her down so we could get our check.

A friend of a friend recommended Mo's as a good place for seafood while in the Baltimore area. I'm wondering if we went to the wrong location or he confused this with a different restaurant all together. From the moment we entered, I was confused. I had asked for a more casual place (we weren't looking for anything fancy) yet there were fancy tablecloths and fancy linens at each place setting. It definitely wasn't what I was expecting. Service was okay, but getting refills of water and extra bread was a challenge. My friend ordered the crab cake (she wasn't impressed) and I ordered the broiled rockfish (I'm still not sure what rockfish is, but it was okay). The decor is awkward and outdated. And we were none too pleased when we noticed the gratuity already added to our check. On the plus side, they do have their own parking lot. Unfortunately we did not know this until we had already parked several blocks away.

Ever hear of buyers remorse? I feel that times 15% given my experience at Mo's Seafood. It was an utter disaster. Ok I decided to give it a try despite the fact that their decor sucks, I should have turned around when the host didn't look pleased. So I press forward on this adventure because I'm on the hunt for an awesome crab cake. We ordered: -Cream of crab soup - Gross!! Had to send it back. It was thick, almost gravy paste, with no taste and no crab. Disgusting! -Caesar salad - croutons were soft, salad was meh -Jumbo lump crab cakes - they should change the name to crap cakes. It looked nothing like any of the pictures I have seen online or through social media. -Spiced shrimp - this was good but was overshadowed by all the other terrible faux pas. Our server provides us with a to go box to take our barely eaten crap cakes. He brings us our bill with a smile and leaves us a nice fat check for $84.26. We noticed after the fact that the restaurant charged us 15% tip already added into the total for a party of 2. This is against Maryland law!! Restaurants cannot add in gratuity any longer to the bill. Mo's Seafood was terrible! I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Save your money people!! You can do better at McDonald's.

  • Kaitlan C.

If this place had better service it would have gotten another star or two. I think since 17% gratuity is added to the check (regardless of your party size -- contrary to what the menu says) takes the heat off of the staff and they take advantage of it. The food (crab cakes and oysters specifically) was fantastic but service was incredibly slow, drinks were never refilled. Our orders were messed up -- which was kind of funny because we all orders their famous crab cakes. I thought it was pricey.

The food was good, it was the atmosphere and service that were abysmal. When your server needs to come back MULTIPLE times to confirm an order and feels the need to introduce her (pink haired!!) sister for no apparent reason, it's time to reevaluate your wait staff. Employees like that are fine if you aren't planning on charging $25+ an entree. Otherwise it's time to find some professional staff members. Again, the food was excellent. My complaints are strictly front of house. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting. Overflowing waste baskets, toilets that don't work properly, etc.... What kind of reputable establishment puts receipt paper with thumb tacks above their toilets?!

Okay, fair warning here: when it comes to aesthetics, this place definitely leaves much to be desired. The decor is dated and it seems that they've gotten their money's worth from the table and chairs. Just look beyond that; you'll be grateful that you did. First off, even though the restaurant is located right across from the harbor, they have a small off-street parking lot adjacent to it that patrons can use at no charge (no charge!! In downtown Baltimore, that in and of itself is a blessing!). On the many occasions that I've been to Mo's, the waitstaff is attentive and thoughtful, so even though they do automatically add a 17% gratuity to checks regardless of party size, I have never felt the level of service did not deserve such a tip. The menu is extensive so I'm sure that if seafood is your thing, you will no doubt find something to your liking. This go round, my family and I ordered the mussels in garlic sauce, calamari, and crab dip as appetizers for the table. Everything was delicious and fresh and disappeared rather quickly. For my entree I ordered the Greek seafood salad. It was nothing short of amazing. The portion sizes are very generous here and the salad was no exception. It was piled high with scallops, crab meat, shrimp, feta cheese, kalamata olives, and all other Greek salad goodness. The the dressing... I seriously hope that one day they divulge that secret recipe to me! In my opinion, the pricing is on par with the size of the entree and the fact that it's seafood (and not say, pasta or chicken). I always enjoy my experiences at Mo's so it will continue to be my first stop every time I visit Baltimore.

This is a reminder that I need to ALWAYS check Yelp and never go by word of mouth. This place was horrible and truly disappointing. Over seasoned food, disgusting and stink bathroom, grimy carpet, overpriced food, and a waitress who smelled like an ashtray, should have been tell tale signs that my dining experience would be a disappointment. Oh, did I mention the shattered glass at the entrance and bottle of febreeze at the hostess stand? Two stars for the complimentary, warm bread!

Food was awesome. The Crab Ball was great. Always enjoy going to Moe's when I am at the harbor.

I have a really hard time being negative about this place as our waiter was excellent and the food wasn't particularly "bad." First, after being in the Inner Harbor with the family for a few days I had grown tired of every chain restaurant that ever existed and was hoping to get some local seafood. While this place may have been more "local," it was not what I would consider a niche type of place. The food was very high-priced to begin with. Also, the food was brought out so quickly and all together it was far from an elegant meal. Nothing was dissatisfying about the food itself, but it also was far from special. The prices were as high-priced as a Ruth's Chris, but the experience was a far cry from today's chop shop. If you are looking for a nice place in Little Italy, this probably isn't it.

Mo's is definitely one of the worst dining experiences my wife & I have ever had while traveling. The bread & butter was good but that's where it ended. The service was subpar. The caesar salad didn't taste bad but the dressing was questionable, especially since our server questioned the color of the caesar dressing on the side when she served it to us...SCARY! The combo platter of jumbo lump crab dishes all tasted the same...BLAND! The interior was beyond outdated, which I could appreciate if preserved for ambiance & nostalgia, but this was an interior of neglect & UNCLEANliness. Not to mention, OVERPRICED!(the three food pics I posted here + one additional caesar salad = a $78 check). Apparently there are multiple Mo's restaurants in Baltimore under the same umbrella, including a seafood market. I can't speak for the other locations, although many of their pics & reviews don't look very promising either. This location, however, should go ahead & close up shop! We are just thankful we didn't get food poisoning at the start of our vacation & will never again return to a Mo's establishment in Baltimore! FYI - A number of the photos you see posted by others on this location's page were not actually taken at this location.

Don't be fooled by the interior. The staff is very friendly and one of the best crab cakes I've ever had.

Great food! I had the famous Mo's Crab cakes, and they were great. Service Sucks really bad!! Our server didn't take our order for at least 15- 20 minuets. Food was great though. I had the steamed clams and that s all they were. Nothing to to brag about, the little cup of melted butter was the only thing for taste, oh i forgot the lemon wedge. Did i mention the service Sucks bad! It not only took a long time to get our order taken, it also was very painful to get our bill. Our server took almost 20 minuets to get us our change. Just not a place for value ,nor a good place to feel welcome. The server also gave me an attitude when i asked her what beer they had on tap. She said" None!" Then was put out when she told us the bottle selection. Mo's need to reevaluate who they hire for their dinner service !!!!!!! Don't go for the atmosphere nor service! Cheers!

Went here for a late night dinner (I believe they close at 1 am). We were promptly seated, upstairs, which was weird as we walked past at least 10 empty downstairs tables to get to the steps. Anyways, the guy who guided us told us to sit anywhere we liked, and our waiter was over to us promptly. The decor is uhm well dated to say the least and the fish/sharks on the walls are covered with about 2 inches of thick dust, which left a bit to be desired; especially when you're about to chow down, but 1 of my traveling companion wanted to eat there so I sucked it up. At first glance, I thought wow these prices are ridiculous, now before you judge hear me out. I simply don't believe in paying excessively for food, or anything for that matter that's not going to be with you for a lifetime. I felt $26 for seafood Alfredo that couldn't be too much different than that of Olive Gardens $12 version was a bit much; however, I must admit it was good - tons of shrimp, scallops, etc. I actually ran out of pasta. The complimentary bread was not that great, pretty dry and hard, but the meals, we enjoyed our meals, so I guess the $120 tab for 3 people was (kinda) worth it.

The peach martini was fantastic which is why I gave it 2 stars. The crab cakes were $40 for filler! They were just ok if you like seafood cakes with lots of shells in them. This was my third trip to Baltimore for crab cakes and I was disappointed once again. How can the city known for crab cakes be so bad at making them? I don't mind paying top dollar for LUMP crab cakes, which is what the description said, but filler was not mentioned once on the menu. I will stick to Jerry's seafood in Lanham Maryland when I want a real LUMP crab cake because the city of Baltimore can't seem to get it right.

Visiting Baltimore with my family.m and got into town late on July 2nd Asked the hotel staff to recommend a place for dinner and they said Mows! Yikes what a dump when you first walk in - awful!!! Almost walked out. Actual food was AMAZING and server was wonderful. Seriously great food - diamond in the rough. Really rough.

Old decor, bad smell when we walked in on the first floor. Got the seafood trio which was cold and flavorless. Vegetables were cold. Also got the fried sampler which was better. Two stars only for portion size and service. Jumbo lump crab cake was ok, nothing too brag about. Very expensive. Service was fast and friendly.

We went today the one on Presidents Street. First time in Baltimore. Valet person highly recommended. Food was very good but expensive and took quite a while to arrive. Service just ok. The restaurant is in great need of a renovation. Shabby. Restrooms are Yuck! Too many other restaurants in the area to make this one a priority. I can not recommend Mo's.

TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!!! Food was fine but the server was so rude to my family and to the family next to us. No one was coming to our table and after about 10 minutes we finally got water. Our server was Elizabeth (I think) and she was not attentive. Then she spilled a beer all over my purse and did not apologize or try cleaning it!!!! We ordered the fried shrimp which was good and the crab cake which was also very tasty. Unfortunately the prices were a little much for the quality and amount of food they gave.

  • C A R.

Where shall I start? Maybe with the filthy area where you pick up carryout in their market? Maybe the guys behind the counter that act like you are aggravating them by coming in? Maybe it was the way they didn't care how they talked to or treated customers, myself included, who average $70 per pick up? Maybe it was how the overcooked the fried items and then just dumped it all in a box. It didn't matter since I was a carry out customer. Save yourself some trouble. If you want Mo's and a better experience, go to the one closer to Little Italy.

    (2)
  • Faith M.

Very disappointing from their van to pick us up at the hotel being 20 min late to the food being fair to the crab cakes being full of shell pieces which had to be replaced With so many other great seafood restaurants in downtown Baltimore I would try other places first.

We literally created a yelp account for this review. We had been forewarned that it was a bit sketchy downstairs, but things looked better once we got upstairs... Until we met our waiter. He never introduced himself, did not give pricing for the specials, then talked about other patrons negatively in front of us. He also got a serious attitude once he realized we weren't ordering the high priced options he recommended.... As for food, we ordered the crab dip- which while it had a lot of crab, had no flavoring and was very thin. We also each got soup which was decent, and the clam strips- which were mediocre. The only redeeming choice was the oysters Christopher. We will definitely not be returning here, we were very disappointed. ** also expect tip to be automatically included... Our was for a table of 2.

  • Moni K.

Ok so I obviosuly did not read yelp reviews before my friends dragged me in here. This restaurant is a joke. It looks kind a cool from the outside, somehow I associated Mo's tavern from the Simpsons with this establishment and that is how it should stay nothing more nothing less but really bad overpriced food, dusty light fixtures and dirty windows with white table cloth dinning.

Coming back from the Power Plant area we saw a sign advertising Happy Hour drinks for $3. (Rack liquor). As previously stated in other reviews the decor is out dated and needs help. Who cares! . They pour pint-sized drinks for $3. That's basically a double drink. All good. We also ordered a fried shrimp platter for $10. (6 jumbo fresh shrimp, not frozen.) Did I say $10? Yep, that was the regular price. It came with 1 side. We ordered broccoli, and it was definitely fresh not frozen. The bottom line.... This place can definitely use some updating and some cleaning but the bartender and staff was friendly, the drinks were great and cheap, and the food we ordered was well worth it. Would definitely go back for more of the same.

So, my sons and I are in Baltimore to watch the Patriots destroy those godless scum Ravens...I asked the Doorman at our hotel where I could find an "authentic" crab place and without any hesitation he said "Mo's". So off we trekked to Mo's where I learned two things 1. Don't ask a Baltimore doorman where to eat when you're wearing Patriots clothing and 2. Mo's sucks ass! Horrible is too kind! My youngest ordered Seafood Imperial and he said the first two bites were good and then like any flour based cheese sauces it tightened up like a concrete slurry....my older son had a crab cake which was just chock full of 1/4 inch shell pieces, my fish sandwich was served cold and on stale bread..... The decor of the place is heavy stained and shellacked plywood and it is filthy. Pricey bad food and you can't replace the water stained and moldy ceiling tiles? Place sucks!

Just say no. The prices were steep and everything I ate had either shells, bones or sand in it. Completely agree with the other reviewers about lousy service and atmosphere. I hate that I wasted an opportunity for a good meal on Mo's.

A night beginning at Mo's was disastrously hilarious, and an incredibly entertaining time for all the wrong reasons. I went as part of a group of 4 last night on the first night of restaurant week. Now I've heard that servers hate restaurant week, because the same amount of work results in smaller bills because of the restaurant week discounts, and therefore smaller tips. We stumbled into Mo's Fisherman's Wharf on President Street by accident. It didn't occur to us that there was more than one Mo's, and we had intended to go to Mo's Crab and Pasta Factory, a few blocks away, advertised on Baltimore Restaurant week's website. We were greeted by someone I had originally thought was a customer - someone underdressed sitting and chatting with someone else who looked like a patron. Later in the night it seems the same guy (or his more serious brother?) put a coat on and was walking around the restaurant, looking like he was playing the part of a manager, and wandered about disinterestedly the rest of the night not interacting with anyone. This was the start of an intriguing level of service. We were sat upstairs, and immediately felt unwelcome by the server. We asked for the restaurant week menu and were answered with as close to a sneer as possible. I was then asked "you've never been here before huh", as if it was being implied that I couldn't normally afford the food there (which is a great way to make four young professionals to feel welcome). The two decent beer choices on the menu were not actually available. I'm fairly certain they were not participating in the official restaurant week, and the restaurant week menu was a crumpled piece of paper offering 2 sides (soup, salad, vegetable or dessert) and an entree for $33. I selected a salad and a dessert. Our soups and salads were forgotten until the entrees came out, at which point we were given an extra "apology salad" and an extra plate of broccoli. Frankly, halfway into my crabcake I wasn't that interested in having a salad at that point, but we weren't complaining, just trying not to laugh. The food itself was pretty good. I ordered the crab cake platter, which was two gigantic crab cakes. They were pretty good, but considering the cost and quality of local crab cake competition, I'll go elsewhere next time. The lobster was highly raved about by one member of our group, while the seafood trio made another one us feel a little ill for the rest of the night. As we were wrapping up the server said "none of you ordered a dessert right?", which was untrue. At this point we felt like we were being hurried out (9pm friday), despite there being only a dozen patrons or so. Our desserts arrived, already boxed, even though we weren't asked if we would like them to go. We were then left with the check... except the folio was empty and there was no check inside. We had to decide who would be able bring this up with the straightest face. A 17% tip is included on all checks, which seemed very generous for the level of service we received. 3 dinners on the restaurant week special, 6 beers, and the 17% service charge came out to about $155. I expected much better service for the cost.

SO. GROSS. Seriously disappointing. Horrible service, food, atmosphere, building, and furniture. Oh and the huge plastic fish and distasteful "seafaring journey art." (I use the term "art" veeeeeerrryyy loosely here, almost shamefully loose). Upon entering the establishment, was immediately struck by the dirty, old carpet and somewhat confusing atmosphere downstairs (Restaurant or diner? Not too sure..). We were then directed upstairs, where the sit-down dining setup was more clear. I took a minute to take in and be disgusted by the dirty old ceiling and walls, the aforementioned decorations, and all the dirty, sticky surfaces. Lovely. I don't even want to think about how dirty the kitchen is...*shudders*. The server was bland and took forever to get to our table; did I mention that we (the two of us) were the only ones upstairs? It was deserted (we went in the late afternoon, so that was to be expected). Anyways, the only positive aspect of that meal that I remember was that our server gave us both the lunch and dinner menu to choose from; at least I can appreciate that consideration, as the dinner pricing is much higher than the lunch pricing. I ordered the fish and chips, my dining partner ordered something that was creamy and had crab in it....can't exactly remember what it was. Maybe the imperial crab? I ordered the fried shrimp platter, and we also ordered an appetizer that the server pushed at us: the crab dip. The most expensive appetizer on the freakin menu. Yes, we were stupid not to look at the pricing on the menu, but still. If you see two college kids having an off-hour afternoon meal, do you think we're really interested (or want to shell out for) a $16 crab dip? Ugh. Again, not entirely to be blamed on her, but still ridiculous. As for the food: plain and unexciting. The complete opposite of complex flavors culminating into a delicious dish. Well, I guess that's asking too much. At the very least, I didn't even get a straight-up "Yum, that's good," feeling, which is what I expect from any average restaurant. Unnecessary and outdated doilies placed on the plates, portion size nothing to write home about, overuse of cheese, cream, and butter in attempt to create "flavor," painfully slow and unfriendly service, very overpriced for the crap you get on your plate. The list goes on and on. Also, as other people have mentioned, the 18% gratuity automatically tacked onto the bill (did I mention that we were a party of two?). The thought I'll end this with is one that kept recurring in my mind during my horrific Mo's experience: this place is a PERFECT candidate for Kitchen Nightmares. Please, someone, just shut this place down.

Wow! Great food and huge portions. We ate lunch on the first floor. The atmosphere was in line with the inexpensive lunch portions. My hubby had the imperial fish ($18) and I had the "lite fare" - grilled Mahi with feta and olives ($17). Not sure how lite it really was given that the portion size was so large. The fish had to be 16 -18 oz. We will definitely be back!

Big disappointment. I had heard good things about the food. Also saw the awards they had won in 2008. The decor needs to go. Things were very dusty. Jumbo crab cakes and bread were good. I ordered the Maryland crab soup. It was Campbell's vegetable soup with cabbage and crab added. I then ordered the fried seafood combo platter. The fish tasted like it had been fried yesterday. The breading was soft and soggy and the fish did not taste fresh at all. The fried clams were okay, but the other items fried also tasted like they had been fried earlier in the day. Also mediocre service. The reason for that is because the tip is already added into the bill so what motivation do the servers have to give exceptional service. Will not be returning to this establishment the next time we are in Baltimore.

The jumbo lump crab cakes were very good, but everything else about this place was very sub-par. If you're paying over $40 for crab cakes, it would be nice to have something besides Walmart wines - and each glass priced at the retail cost of a whole bottle. ALL checks have a 17% "gratuity" added. The owners should look up the definition of gratuity. Call it a mandatory fee to pay the staff, regardless of how you're treated. Service was poor, waitress smelled like an ashtray when she walked by ignoring me. Veggies were just semi-fresh. Décor was low-budget, and not very clean. There are many better restaurants in the area, and better crab cakes too. For a diner-like atmosphere with even better crab cakes and very friendly service, try Pierpoint just a mile away; or walk a couple blocks to DaMimmo's for a more upscale experience and great food.

You can judge this book by its cover. It's dirty and grimy outside. And there's no charm or hidden gems inside. My soft-shell crab sandwich and fries were soaked with oil. I can't think of anything that would make me want to come back.

  • Amanda W.

Don't be afraid of the way it looks when you first walk in. It's kind of scary with dirty old carpet and the single bathroom is atrocious. My mom got the fried seafood combination and I got the broiled seafood combination. My mom thinks you should skip the combos and choose the to-die-for fried scallops and the crab cake; broiled especially because the broiled had this lovely mustard sauce baked on top. White fish was over cooked on both plates. The shrimp were butterflied and therefore had too much breading.

Tourist trap. Restaurant adds automatic tip of 18% no matter what. Obviously ownership not concerned with reviews, zero response to any Yelp reviews When ownership doesn't care or respond to customers, why should they have customers? Plenty of other restaurant choices throughout Baltimore proper where your treated friendly and are allowed to tip by choice and not mandate Is it legal to disregard the mandatory tip percentage?

If I could give this restaurant negative stars I would. My party requested a table for our party of 15 upstairs. This location is run down. They failed to mention that they were renovating the establishment. It was constant banging, nailing and hammering. There were construction workers walking through the dining area constantly. Let's not talk about the waitress Elizabeth, she was TERRIBLE! Bad attitude, bad service, bad everything. She laughed when she had gotten the orders wrong and even told us that she would not take the food back. After rudely replying she finally took it back. Then the added 17% gratuity is astronomical.

This food was extremely good! Fresh seafood... Yes idiots that reviewed in the past, there is an occasional shell that sneaks in. The seafood chef salad was amazing! Lots of crab, shrimp and scallops on a huge bed of lettuce and fresh veggies. My mother got the crab cake and it was nothing but amazing crab. You are getting an amazing meal here. The decor? Who the heck cares. It's clean and the staff is amazing. Oh, and to the arsehole complaining about the tip being added to the bill? To bad. Bet you don't tip well anyhow. I will come back here again to try different meals. The locals love this place, as do I now! Thanks Mo!!

By far the worst place I have ever been to.. and it's sad that locals think this is a good place.. we were referred by two locals that work in "top of the world" when u walk in it just looks iffy and smells funny, and no one came to greet us this random guy just tells us go upstairs.. we get this scary looking waiter he tell us we need to hurry and order because they have a large party.. which makes sense but really why you rushing us.. and we order beers he suggested the local beer and he said if you don't drink it I will.. (really?) personally ordered the fisherman's broiled combination we get the food my food is on a hot plate and the guy said be careful it's hot.. I try the scallop right away and it was cold it was cold with no flavor.. and when I say cold it was like it was in the refrigerator for a while.. everything was cold on a hot plate??? How is this possible???? And it had no flavor at all it was by far the nastiest food I ever ate.. it ruined my seafood experience for a while.. i think about it and I gag cuz it was disgusting... over all this place looks iffy, the waiters suck, the food suck, the bathroom are disgusting, worst experience ever..

Local flavor. Delicious, simply prepared and unpretentious. Absolutely delightful food, reasonablyand reasonably priced! Terrific service unhurried & relaxing. Had a wonderful time will make sure I come back to Mo's every time I'm in Baltimore.

This place is GROSS!!!!!!! I don't know where the food is that I see pictures of!! I got a seafood salad on top of lettuce...it was overpriced and gross...I hardly even ate it I took it home to my boyfriend and we just threw it away. The waitress was ignorant and it took forever for us to get our sodas. ..over priced...disgusting. I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE!

We were hungry late at night on a Friday and decided to go to Mo's. This is not a fancy place, but they do have fancy prices. We had to wait for 30 minutes after midnight to get a table for two. The bar did not have many seats or room around it, so we were just near the front door looking crazy. The floor plan is not the best, and probably could use a makeover. When we finally sat down, we had to wait another 20 minutes to place our order. I was surprised to see the place so crowded with folks eating major entrees so late at night. I ordered the stuffed shrimp, and my boyfriend ordered the shrimp scampi. When the food arrived, I looked at the presentation with horror. My stuffed shrimp looked like a chicken pot pie. I was wondering what I would find under that layer of bread. The shrimp scampi lacked color. The shrimp were white, and they were sitting on plain white rice. The food really looked boring and not very appetizing. The flavors were decent, but I wasn't really that impressed. I had stringy crab and bread on my shrimp, and he just had shrimp and rice. Overall, I think we should have ordered the jumbo lump crab cakes and called it a night. I tried them before, and I remember them being decent.

This place felt like one of the restaurants at City Island - ok meal for a decent price (at least the lunch menu meal was priced decently). The crabcake had way too much mustard for my liking, but it was still flavorful. At least I can say I've been here, right?

I read all the previous comments and assessed the environment. The look is very dated...One bathroom is just insane. My position at the table made it difficult to miss the bathroom traffic (of the staff). The food was ok, while eating it but it doesn't sit well, overall the food didn't look appealing. I would suggest that this place is a good candidate for restaurant impossible.

This was one of the most disorganized places I have ever been. We waited for over 20 min after we were seated for any acknowledgement. We even got up and found our own menus. Clams Casino wonderful. Caesar Salad had so much dressing it was like soup and I could not eat it. When I told the waitress she said ok, took it away but left the charge on my bill. Oh, and they automatically added an 18% tip even tho we were a table of three. I am afraid the food, while good, is not enough to bring me back to this restaurant.

Definitely hyped up and not so great... we were in the area and the bellman at the hotel recommended Mo's for dinner, not the fanciest, but one of the nicest places to get quality seafood in the Inner Harbor, yet I beg to differ. We were here for lunch and I was worried that one crab cake wouldn't be enough to satisfy my hunger, but having complimentary bread and a salad on the side helped. I've never had legit crab cakes before (being a West Coaster my entire life) so I guess I have absolutely nothing to compare to. But from what I had, I thought it was okay, although greasy and I had to drizzle it with the tartar sauce on the side to enjoy it. Maybe I'm not a crab cake fan, I don't know. Inside is super old, but service is alright! There isn't much of a view and I felt like I would of enjoyed my lunch if we had eaten alongside the harbor. I looked at the rest of the menu and was slightly disappointed because a lot of the items were fried (or combination of fried and something else), a warning that the seafood might not be exactly the best. Sadly, when I got the bill, they had already added a 17% tip - WAY too much for a slow lunch day with almost no one inside the restaurant. Everything was quite expensive and not as fancy as it should of been, so think before walking in. -- PHOTO: yelp.com/biz_photos/a2nF…

Let me start off by saying I would have given this place 3 stars, but because of what they did to my check, and I guess they do it to everyone's check, I downgraded them to 1 star. They automatically put on a 17% tip. Who does that? Especially on a check for a party of 1. And what happens if the service sucks, which something tells me this place has a fair share of that. This is a bullsh** practice. And it actually cost the server some money. I was going to give her a full 20%. But now because of this, I will never go back. Now, lets talk about the actual dining experience. I walked in and it appeared as if this place was ready for Food Network's show "Restaurant Impossible". Very dingy and old. Kind of run down. No one is at the door to great me, so I stand there for a few minutes looking around. Then someone, who was eating, gets up from near the bar area and finally greets me. I get seated and I sit and wait, I would say close to 10 minutes before someone acknowledges me. And the restaurant wasn't even crowded. So finally someone came up to me and asked if someone had helped me. She apologized and introduced her self. I ordered my beverage and a "cream of crab" soup for an app. It wasnt too bad. Good bowl size. Temperature was hot. It had real crab as I was spitting out some of the shell. Then for my main course I ordered the "backfin" crab cakes. These were $21, $15 cheaper than the jumbo crab. And I do have to say they were not too bad. I ordered one fried and one broiled. The size was more the generous. And they were piping hot and full of crab. So I was more than surprised, even from all the bad reviews of how bland they were. Yeah they probably could have used something, but I actually did like them. I think I was only checked on once or twice during my dining experience. And that definitely didnt deserve an automatic tip. With that being said. I would probably go back to Phillips, as I had a good experience with their outdoor restaurant last summer.

Went to Mo's for the first time and it met my expectations based on the previous Yelp Reviews. This restaurant was not my choice I mean really why would I go to a seafood restaurant that was average at best when surrounded by some great Italian Restaurants in Little Italy. This was a group of 14 people so I am going to give the service staff a break. It appeared to me the kitchen was backed up as we had to wait about 90 minutes for the main course to arrive. I ordered a Greek salad with Linguine in a Red Clam sauce. The server told me the creamy Italian Dressing was the house and most customer's favorite. Not quite sure what was meant by creamy and the dressing had no flavor whatsoever. The Linguine was mushy (over cooked) and the red clam sauce had no flavor. There were two whole clams in the dish with chopped up clams but again no flavor or spice. Even though this was not my recommended restaurant it is very good to know and use Yelp. I am at sometimes suspicious of the reviews especially good ones when I see so many bad reviews. When I have used Yelp before to find a restaurant in an unknown area I have had great success.

I hesitate to give it even one star. The service was lousy, the server was rude, my lump crab imperial was FULL of shells...so much so that I didn't eat it. Lastly, an automatic gratuity was added in. I hate to tip for lousy service. I will never go back and will advise others to go elsewhere.

Crab balls were ok, catfish fried well, no seasoning. Hot Trio of lobster, shrimp, & crab were in a "butter sauce" that did not look appealing. Would not eat here again. Waitress was ok, didn't seem like she wanted to be there but was nice enough. Decor was super outdated. Food and experience was OK but way too expensive for the quality. I get its touristy but I live in SF and if u pay that much for a meal, you will get GREAT quality! There was a free shuttle that took us from hotel to restaurant and back which was nice b-c it was COLD, but felt like trap after the fact.

Boyfriend and I stopped in on our way out of town. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries and wings and fries, not expecting much from a seafood restaurant. We were completely blown away by not only the affordable price but by the amazing food. The wings were both sweet and hot and were hands down the best wings I've ever had anywhere, and the burger was large and well garnished. I got take-out and yet the presentation of both in the box was amazing, not just thrown in. Definitely a go-to place!!!

Good Crabcakes, but VERY expensive. Went there late night after an O's Nat's game, the service was very very very slow, the restaurant was dingy and dirty and the staff was dysfunctional despite there being only 15 patrons in the restaurant. WE sat at the bar and the bartender was laughably or audaciously non-responsive, non-attentvie making our stay longer than desired. I got the bill and wish I had looked or asked about he price beforfe ordering an entree consisting of two big crab cakes and a side of unremarkable veges. I was thinking WTF!! 39 bucks for two cakes . They were good but not that good!! I was also not in that happy of a mood cause our Nats looked horrible that night.

I went to Mo's with a party of 10 while visiting Baltimore for a conference. There was no aspect of my meal that went well (company aside). While the waitress was friendly and cheerful, she did not get a single round's order correct. Every time, a beer, soup or entree went forgotten. The first dish I had was a seafood bisque, which was bland and disgustingly coagulated. When someone bumped the table, it jiggled like jello. Another person had order the cream of crab soup and had the same experience. In an attempt to order something more healthy for dinner so I wouldn't feel disgusting, I ordered the broiled seafood platter with a side of vegetables. When it arrived, I found a plate covered in steamed seafood (they certainly don't skimp on portions) bathing in a sea of butter. I'm not a man who shies away from butter - it plays an integral roll in about about everything I cook. This, however, was disgusting. I managed to go through about a third of the entree, at which point I felt as though I'd consumed two burritos. Fortunately, there was a side of vegetables (read: over steamed broccoli and nothing else) that I was able to use to mop of the stick of butter I'd ingested. The portion sizes here are absurd and I finished my meal feeling like I'd just wasted a great deal of food. The idea that someone is paid money to be a "chef" at this establishment is just preposterous. $45 later I decided to pass on dessert. I will not return.

Some family came to see me from Ohio this past weekend; I decided to take them to Baltimore to check out some sites and get some great seafood (I live in Bowie). The initial plan was to go to McCormick and Schmick for some seafood (completely forgot about Mo's); however, on our way to M&S, I saw Mo's and stopped the car in a dead halt; I yelled this is where we're going instead! I am never ever disappointed when I go to Mo's - the food is fantastic and the service is great. Our waiter Nicholas was a riot! He entertained us from the time we sat down to the time we left...he also did me a solid that hooked a sista up! If you're ever on President Street in Baltimore, MD - you must check out Mo's Seafood. You will not be disappointed!

We had the best food ever. Our waiter Nicolas was so onthe ball! We ordered the oysters on a half shell which were amazing! Next we had the crab soup, it had an amazing flavor and the table bread was a perfect pairing for it. Then we had the clams casino, the crab dip and the crab cake which were all to die for. It wasn't the most beautiful place we have ever been to, but the food was amazing, the wait staff was super nice and very on top of their game and the drinks were good too! We will be back!

In Baltimore for business with a coworker who loves crab. Checked yelp and decided to hit up Mo's for their famous crabcakes. We were not disappointed. The crab dip appetizer was delicious and probably would have been enough for me. The crabcakes themselves are amazing. As some others have commented -- there is like NO FILLER in these cakes. They were amazing and worth the price AND the walk in the freezing cold to get them. I recommend this place to anyone who loves seafood and doesn't worry too much about ambiance.

What a rip-off. It was suggested by our hotel to go to Mo's. The front desk clerk showed us a pamphlet with an ad for Mo's on the back cover. My first reaction was that this was a tourist trap. We went anyway. My bad, because I should have listened to my instincts. Unbelievably overpriced and poor quality to boot. The restaurant sits adjacent to its fish market so you assume it will be good fresh fish. You put up with a downtrodden decor and ambiance because you believe its the kind of place that locals or in years past, fisherman would come for lunch or dinner. Boy, was I wrong. The famous crab cakes were priced at $37/plate--for two cakes. The special that evening was a combo of different crab cakes for $50. For those prices I would expect extraordinary. The crab cakes were very large, primarily due to the amount of filler that was used. They were gooey and pasty. My plate was a crab cake with scallops. The scallops came out in pieces. Only after it was served did the waitress say that the only scallops left in the kitchen were pieces, not whole scallops. Why didn't she tell me that before she brought the plate. My wife's food was cold when it arrived and had to be sent back, and mine was quickly losing its temperature. Both dinners were plated on cool-cold plates, which absolutely suck the life out of seafood. Because of the prices for these meals, I absolutely felt ripped off. The waitress tried to salvage something of the meal by removing my wife's meal from the tab--thank you to her. But with these kinds of prices, this should never happen. Stay away!

This place hurt our heads, they seem to be trying to be something they are not. They should take off the cloth tablecloths, put booths in and be what they are. Prices are very high for the quality and atmosphere. Maryland Crab soup was not spice well at all...tasted more like vegetable soup with crab "strings" thrown in...defiitely wasn't lump, but leftover backfin or something. We were told to try their famous Mo's crab cakes...other than a very generous helping, they were pretty blandly spiced. The crab meat quality was very nice though. Staff were pretty bad, between arguing loudly over who was "going to the bank" and personal conversations, they tried hard at explaining the menu and giving good attentive service. Oh and Mo the owner was there, after telling a vendor he wouldn't pay him today and just invoice him, he told his waitress not to waste an orange to garnish something as it costs him $1.50... Other than that, this place just needs to embrace the decor, trash the attempts at being fancy, fix their prices and go seafood diner kitsch and they would be fine!

This food is terrible!!!!! We spent about $70 a person (party of 3) and they added a 17% tip. The crab cakes were disgusting. I know carryouts that serve better. Our server was nice. However, the place is a dump.

Holy crab cakes! Seriously, never had such amazing (and gigantic) crab cakes my entire life. Fluffy and rich, these do not disappoint despite the hefty $35 price tag. We split two of them between 5 people, if that gives you any idea of how enormous they are... Nothing really more to say about this place - go for the crab cakes and you will not be disappointed.

We went here on the recommendation of our friends from Baltimore for a pre-wedding lunch. We had the famous crab cake and a soft shell crab sandwich. The soft shell crab was delicious. I ate that super fast (Maryland crabs are small, I'm used to ginormous Gulf crabs). It was great. Perfectly cooked, crunchy, but could have used some salt and pepper. The egg bun doesn't really add much except filler. So I ate my crab and started picking at other people's crab cakes. Crab cakes are by far the largest crab cakes I've ever seen. And when they tell you they fill the holes with more crab cakes, it's the truth. They use REAL jumbo lump crab and additional small pieces of crab. if you like crab, this is for you. It was so good to just eat sweet crab lumps. Mo's doesn't add much other than crab cakes by way of seasoning. But it was nice to eat just pure crab. There weren't many people around, so it was a little surprising when our water glasses weren't always filled. But generally the service was fine. I would give this place 3.5 stars if I had the option.

My husband and I always go to Mo's when we are in Baltimore for a Yankees' series - we like it that much! The food is outstanding - you just need to make sure you order the lunch platter or else split the entree - the portions are enormous! This trip, we met some friends that we had not we seen in over 25 years. They brought a photograph that, clearly, had sentimental value. In the excitement of getting reacquainted, we left the picture on the table. I called Mo's later when we realized it and they not only went out of their way to locate the photo but ran it over to the hotel where we were staying! This type of service and consideration, in addition to the great crab cakes, keeps us coming back time after time! Thanks, Mo's!

Pricey spot that looks like one of those places Robert Irvine or Gordon Ramsey visits and rips before they order a new makeover. The decor is an attempt at upscale while using low budget items. The prices are kinda high and the service is spotty. In terms of food, I will say that the portion sizes are huge. Quantity does not always equal quality though......especially in this case! The food was not memorable at all. Most things was overfried/overdone so the taste was either smokey or fried batter. Lettuce was on the bitter side. Much better off going somewhere else.

Jimmy, my server, is a sweetheart!!!!! I can't really speak on the food. I know that is crazy, but I was out and I had a lot to drink. In the south, we eat something with tomato and drink coffee to sober up. well, this was was the closest place, and it was almost midnight. I asked him did he have a fresh pot of coffee. he said, "No, but I will make you a pot.". The coffee was actually nice, and I ordered french fries and added lots of ketchup. My friend ordered some kinds of oysters with spinach on top. He loved them!

Before I came to Baltimore, a friend recommended me to this place, so I gave it a try. It was a Friday night and the place wasn't packed. There were a few tables when we got there. The outside doesn't look fancy, but the waiters were in bow ties and white shirt. The decor was just tables with white table cloths and dimmed lights. There was only one unisex bathroom by the kitchen, but at least the bathroom was pretty decent. Any way onto the food. After we placed our order we did not get our bread until at least 10-15 minutes later. While we were waiting for our orders, we saw the health department there doing an inspection. It makes us wonder if it was safe to continue to eat here for the remainder of the night. But we chose to stay. We ordered the jumbo shrimp cocktail, which wasn't that worth it. It was a bunch of cold crab meat placed in the center of the plate with only 2 shrimps on the side...what is with that? 2 shrimps and it's call a shrimp cocktail? The crab meat wasn't de-shelled cleaned enough because as you eat the crab meat there were pieces of shell in it. We also ordered the jumbo crab cake, which yes it was pretty jumbo, about the size of 1.5 of my fist. This crab cake was really good, way better than that jumbo shrimp cocktail. My friend ordered the shrimp parmesan linguini, which was pretty big portion. However it looked like all the seafood on his plate had a fight in the kitchen before it was brought out to him. He said his food was okay. My other friend had the salmon, which was pretty good, but again the plating needs some major work. I ordered the broiled seafood combination, so I can try a bit of everything. The food was okay...the scallop was questionable, don't think it was really that fresh. Honestly, if I return to Baltimore, I might skip this place, unless I really want to eat a jumbo crab cake, then yes I will come back here. Even though we saw the health inspection there that night, none of us got sick, so that's a bonus!

IS THIS PLACE A JOKE? my friends spoke so highly of this place and for years i have heard about their humongous crabcakes so i get there...first off the place looks like a dump....like someones dingy basement that they turned into a eat out joint once seated we waited 35 minutes for bread and water (strike 1) then we got the menus which are LAMINATED!!!!!!!! what is this a carry out? (strike 2) then we order...i ordered the loaded bake potatoe and their supposed "famous crabcake" $35 so i get the loeaded baked potatoe which was a baked potatoe with 2 strips of barely cooked bacon laid inside and topped with wayyyyyyyyyyyy too much cheese and sour creme served in a plastic sauce cup! (strike 3) my crabcakes were huge....the size of B cup breasts...so i fork into it to taste...had no flavor! needed old bay, seasoning, spices etc. it tasted like crabmeat, mayo, mustard & breadcrumbs (strike 4) as i continued to eat i realized the crab cake had hefty amounts of crabshell in it (final strike i was P*SSED!!!!!!!!!!!) TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE! OVER PRICED...HORRID SERVICE...LAME/WACK FOOD! NEVER GO HERE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH AND BATHROOM LOOKS LIKE SOMEONE WAS GANGRAPED AND MURDERED IN THERE!

Went to dinner New Years Eve. Honestly, wasn't first choice, but they had a few open reservations. I am from Maine and a huge seafood fan. I know good steamed clams, and I had some tonight for an appetizer. For my entree, I chose Broiled Haddock. I know good Haddock and I was blown away with the size and thickness of the portion I was served! The taste was sweet and delicate! It came with roasted rosemary potatoes and steamed broccoli. My husband liked his. I am not a big fan of either. I would like to have had a choice of sides. The dinner was so big and filling, I regret that I did not have room for dessert, because the cheesecakes looked wonderful in the display case! Service was good and friendly. I would definitely go back again!

Worst experience I've EVER had with service at a restaurant. I ordered the appetizer size King crab legs at $17.99 (1 lb) and an a la cart Cesear salad. To get the full "meal" of King crab (2 lbs) was $45.00 and I just didn't think I could eat 2 full pounds plus the salad, side, and bread. My friends ordered: the Maryland crab soup with a side of broccoli and hollandaise and the trio of seafood platter (scallops, shrimp, and a crab cake). We waited 45 min + to be served our mains- the salad and soup came quickly- I will say that. After waiting all that time, I was REALLY disappointed to find that what they were serving me was a shabby plate of SNOW crab legs. NOT KING CRAB. Totally different product. The server told me that "THE KING CRAB IS TOO EXPENSIVE TO STOCK, SO NOW WE SERVE THE SNOW CRAB IN ITS PLACE". .. think about that.... They are serving snow crab at King crab prices and to boot, selling it as King crab on their menu (in two places). Way to completely rip off your customers!! Anyone who loves crab knows that there's a significant difference in the price between the two. So that also means that had I gotten two pounds... that would have been $45 for two pounds of standard snow crab legs... could have gone to any buffet in the country and gotten the same crappy product for $20 all you can eat...... seriously. When I told her that should be what's on the menu or that she should verbally tell people that, she said "Well, people here just know, so I don't tell them". I can't believe that after lying on a menu, the server then had the audacity to make it seem like it was my own fault because I apparently don't eat there often enough. Believe me, that's not going to change.... The server continued arguing with me and finally agreed to bring a manager. Given the hour and a half we'd been there already (after waiting to be seated, waiting to order, and then waiting for the food) I didn't have time to order an entirely new entree, so the manager comped the snow crab off the check- so thanks for that. I am more than happy to shell out for a good seafood meal, so I overlooked the shabby decor and awful host when we arrived- it was a big holiday in the Inner Harbor, so every place was mobbed... we decided to stick it out since the seafood was supposed to be worth it. What a mistake. Wouldn't ever recommend this place- there are far better deals, service, and seafood elsewhere in Baltimore.

Yikes! Joint's trite club basement décor ain't changed one iota since I was here 20 years ago. It was outdated by a decade even then. Large picture windows facing bustling traffic on S President St shed needed light on a dark dining room adorned by 2- and 4-top Formica tables. Old school looks in and of itself not an issue, but it's all "complimented" by a stained, malodorous carpet. My Crab Trio at $29 had a crab cake that was appreciably big and full of spicy green pepper, yet a tad undercooked. The crab au gratin had a nice cheesy top, but underneath was a watered-down cream slurry exacerbated by steamy crab. My crab imperial fared better than both again nicely loaded with pepper. My lunch, while not heartbreaking, was altogether uninspired this day. Mo's Fisherman's Wharf Inner Harbor, (not to be confused with Mo's Carry Out on Stiles St, Mo's Crab & Pasta Factory on Albemarle St or Mo's Seafood Factory on Aliceanna St), was overall 2.5 stars. Excellent wait staff saved it from less. Given the touting of "unmatched seafood quality" I expected more bang. And it's whiffy rug distracted from any uplifting atmosphere. Ain't changed one iota in 20 years? Change isn't always good, but in this case change in the form of consistently commendable crab dishes wouldn't hurt. And/or especially a changeout of that nasty carpet.

Although there was a line to get seated.. no one came to us for over 5 minutes! How can i describe this place.. imagine a rundown place with clean white table cloth over a few tables.. everything else looks old and beat up (at least from the entrance). You can clearly see the bar at the entrance (which was where i stood for over 5 mins), wasn't too pleasing. The food may have been good, but I had to walk away from this one...

Had an out of town friend visiting who was hell bent on crab cakes so we elected to go to Mo's instead of some cookie cutter corporate restaurant at the Harbor. It was passable at most. Our waitress was fast and enthusiastic, but the rest of the staff seemed surly and uninterested, especially the upstairs host who kind of grunted at us and vaguely gestured us to a seat. At first the prices seemed really high, but checking against other area restaurants' menus, I guess seafood is a little expensive right now. Our fault for not checking a head of time. The portions were huge ( I could not finish my Fishermen's Salad with generous chunks of crab, shrimps, and scallops). They really really try to up sell you on the $35 Mo's Crab Cake when you order the cheaper Back Fin Crab Cakes; but with a $15 price difference R. went with the cheaper one and it was fine. I The decor (can I call it that?) was clearly in need of updating. I fully expected Robert Irvine of "Restaurant: Impossible" to step out any second. It was sad. If you can overlook the worn carpet, dirty walls, sticky menus, and a humid environment, then give Mo's a try. **Read you bill carefully. They automatically figured in a 16% gratuity for our party of two.

Walked in, it smelled fishy in a bad way. It looked dirty with bad carpet. It looked like they weren't even trying to make it look like a nice place to sit down and eat. The host guy sent us to a table where a man had JUST started setting up, so we had to stand there awkwardly and wait for him to finish. Then we sat there for about 10 minutes before we decided to walk out because no one had even asked us what we wanted to drink. We left and walked down the street to Phillips where prices were the same, if not cheaper. The restaurant was beautiful and the service was excellent. Phillips puts this place to absolute shame. Mo's is a joke.

After reading numerous reviews and asking people in our search of a seafood restaurant to try in Baltimore, we decided to try Mo's. I got to say the jumbo crab cakes are just to die for. They are excellent, so good that even my son tried it for the first time and keep asking for more. My lobster imperial special and my husband's 4 crab sampler are excellent. The only reason I am not giving the place a 5 star is because the portion is way too big. They should consider selling smaller portions at a lower price. We are glad that we have chosen Mo's.

1y yrs ago when I first moved to Baltimore this place used to be the most prestigious place to eat. You used to have to dress up suit & tie to get in type of dress. Fast sped to today it has now turned into the neighborhood hangout where al the "YO" boys and ratchet young ladies hang out. I went in with my friends and to my surprised we were greeted by a man with baggy jeans, a hoody sweat shirt, and a baseball cap. The carpet looked as though it hadn't been clean in years, the walls were all scuffed up, and to top it off my friend went to the restroom and she said it looked worst then a truck stop!! Our food came quickly and as soon as I attempted to enjoy my food I hear to baggy pants men yelling across the room to each other holding a whole conversation! It was if they ran the restaurant!! Then I see the bum that I always see begging on Liberty road at another table eating a whole lobster WTF!!!! It was just so much going on I couldn't take it!! Don't get me wrong the food was great but I can get good food elsewhere!! Needless to say I will never be visiting there again they really need a taste of Chef Ramsey to bring the old Mo's back!!

Horrible service and the place is disgusting. Had to ask for water and bread multiple times. They brought it out after the meal...the staff are disoriented and I believe them to be under some kind of influence. The worst Mo's...I reccommend the one in Towson or Eastern Ave.

This place was recommended to me by a person at the hotel I was staying at. We were looking for a place with some solid crab cakes and this place had them. The place is near the Inner Harbor but not in a place where the other nicer restaurants are. Once inside, it was pretty easy to decide to get the crab cakes. For $16 you get a pretty giant crab cake with what seemed to be very little filler inside. The crab itself tasted very fresh and the portion size was hearty and filling. Overall, a solid place to get some crab cakes. A place was that the place offered to drop us of at Penn Station with their complimentary van service. That was pretty awesome and earned them another star in my book.

Mo's Jumbo Lump Crabcake - 5 stars - one of the best crabcakes I have had. they are very generous with meaty crab and do not use a ton of breading like other places Calamari - 5 stars - large pieces, lightly battered Overall Food was really good!! but service brought rating way DOWN. Service - 2 stars - It took forever to get us seated when they had plenty of tables open upstairs. Then the waiter was super slooow. He pretty much threw the menus at us, barely refilled our waters, gave us to-go boxes in the middle of our meal without even asking us if we wanted dessert Con: 17% gratuity added automatically

Food was BLAND, UNREMARKABLE and OVERPRICED. I would never return and would tell anyone asking to run in the opposite direction. Ordered 2 broiled seafood combos ($23.99 each). Crab cake was bland; this is Baltimore, how do you not have old bay no seasoning? The shrimp had no taste and they dont even have cocktail sauce? Fish was the worst--just flavorless and oversturated in butter; oyster & clam that were part of combo were non existent under the bacon (clam) and spinach (oyster). The two chicken finger orders ($8.99 each) for the kids AND the two fries ($3.99 each) were both overcooked. Oh, and they had baked potatoes but no mashed potatoes. Having spent $140 for this meal (3 adults, 2 kids), it was a huge disappointment and I would never return. SEAFOOD = HELL NO TO MO'S! NO MO!

This place almost gets 2 stars from me after seeing the carryout counter/kitchen. It was horrific. The only reason I even decided to wait around and pick up the food is because it came out from another kitchen which must've been in the main restaurant (I'm glad I didn't see - but if the carry out kitchen is a reflection of their other kitchens, this would be quite scary). The food was ok - but I don't think I'll order from them again.

Ok. First off its not fine dining. Its comfort food at a local spot. That being said...you see what youre going to get from the moment you walk in. Food is...decent. Some dishes are yummier then others. Service was very nice for our LUNCH visit. Portions are huge. It seems like the perfect seafood spot for late night eats after hitting the bars. Its not too pricey for the amount you get.

After being a vegetarian for 11 years, my boyfriend and I decided to take a minivacation to Baltimore and I told him - if we go, I HAVE to eat crabs - not crab legs, but the real deal and of course he didn't believe me but I showed him. Crabs smothered in Old Bay seasoning will always hold a very special place in my heart. When I was a young girl, my great grandfather would take a trip to Maryland every year and bring home 2 bushels of crabs. The whole famly would come over and we would cover the table with newspaper and just start crackin'. I can still picture the butter running down my grammy's chin. So you see, I couldn't just go anywhere, I had to have the best. We spent an entire day at the harbor and I would randomly ask the locals where to go and alot of them said Mo's. When we got back to our hotel, I asked the gentleman at the front desk the same question and I got the same reply so we decided thats where we were going to go and the front desk had arranged the Mo's van to pick us up which I thought was awesome. For dinner I had 6 crabs in Old Bay and I had so much fun cleaning those suckers. My boyfriend had a lobster tail stuffed with shrimp, scallops, and crab royale, it looked amazing and I couldn't resist - I had to try it, and I must say it tasted as wonderful as it looked. The establishment was very diverse - the dining area was quiet, everyone was having their own little dinner conversations, the tables were covered in white linen, the crowd was older and dressed in business casual while the bar area was dark and loud, filled with younger locals. Pictures of Mo with celebrity patrons covered the walls. All in all it was a fantastic meal, if we ever make it back to Baltimore we would be sure to return.

It was our first afternoon in Baltimore and I was anticipating getting my hands on some fresh blue crab from Chesapeake Bay. Our hotel shuttle dude recommended Mo's when I asked him for suggestions on a good divey seafood joint. Mo's menu is filled with fresh seafood appetizers and entrees comparable to any upscale restaurant; however, it doesn't look, feel or put a dent in your wallet like one. It was a bit run-down and a little filthy, but their menu was awesome. I'm accustomed to the West Coast crab cakes made with Dungeness, mayonnaise, and a fried breaded outer layer so I was excited to try Maryland's broiled Jumbo Lump Crab Cake made with 100% blue crab, Mo's specialty. It was only $15.99! Not bad! Blue crab, in my opinion, has a sweeter meat and since the crab cake was not tainted in any way, I got to savor the freshness and sweetness of the crab. How Mo's perfectly pulled these big chunks of meat from the small critters is crazy. They definitely know what they're doing. I also got the oysters on the half shell and they were fresh and good in size. I would prefer them to be a little smaller, but most people like them plump and juicy. The BF had the chicken alfredo which he enjoyed very much. The bread buns were really good - warm and soft - and their french fries were seasoned with the right amount of spices and fried to golden perfection. Our only complaint is the bus boy. He gave us major attitude. He came around to drop off some condiments and stuff and he just had a mug on the entire time we were there. We were not feelin that at all but just brushed him off. They added a 18% gratuity to our check, but I wasn't too bothered about that. If it happened at home, it would've been a totally different story, but I was on vacation. No stress...

Try other places first. We walked in on a Monday evening and were ushered upstairs for seating, no big deal. The dining rooms are kind of worn down, but sometimes that can add to the character of the place. This kind of looked like a great hangout for gangsters, back in the day. Unfortunately, there have not been any updates (or maintenance for that matter) since the era of Goodfellas. I ordered the shrimp cocktail and my wife ordered the creamy crab soup. Shrimp was average, but the cream of crab soup had little or no flavor except for the cream. We both ordered the "Alaskan King Crab" meal and were told that it was actually snow crab. It wasn't great....about the same quality of crab I get in WI. The worst part of it all was the service. Our waitress was good. There was a customer next to us that was a total jerk. He was being waited on by a different waiter. The waiter tried to remedy the guy's gripe, but the customer refused instead belittling the waiter. My wife's crab legs had gotten cold while she was eating them (she's a super slow eater) so we flagged the guy (jerk's waiter) down to see if they could re-steam them. **I would like to note that the crab legs were delivered hot and only became cold because we took our time in eating them, 2 lbs is a log of crab to break apart** Thew waiter loudly thanked us for allowing him to fix the problem. He was clearly sending a message tot he customer next to us. It made us feel really uncomfortable because we didn't want to get involved. All in all, go somewhere else.

Found this place on our trip to Baltimore on May 23rd. It was about 10:00 p.m. and we hadn't had any dinner and were looking for something. Saw Mo's and saw that they were open until 1:00 a.m. so we ventured in. I was not impressed with the outside, not a place I would really go to but Wow were we surprised. The food was AWESOME! We were seated right away and our waiter was AWESOME! He eptimoizes everything you would ever want in a waiter. Totally thorough about everything, when giving the specials he gave us the prices for EVERYTHING. When asked the difference between the Mo's Famous Crab Cakes and the Crab Cakes - he defined in detail everything that was in them and what made the diference. We had our appetizers, my sister ordered the fried calamari when it arrived it looked like it was overcooked but it was definitely spot on. Then the main courses arrived and Wow. I had the Famous crab cakes they were wonderful, no filler in the crab cakes at all just seasoning and jumbo lump crab meat. YUMMY! My husband had the chicken - go figure - it was great had a great sauce, my sister had the broiled scallops wow never seen so many scallops in one bowl, my brother had the Greek Seafood Salad. OMG the amount of shrimp in that dish were amazing. All in all we were terribly satisfied. We intend to go back again for sure. Just as a note, we went to Phillips the next day and we were disappointed, oh don't get me wrong I do buy their products at Costco and we enjoy them but after going to Mo's the night before and going to Phillips the very next afternoon, Mo's definitely has our vote over Phillips any day.

Visited this spot on Saturday. Hadn't been here in about 4 years and vaguely remember it not being about much but decided to give it a try again as we were hungry and it was a midway point between Philly, PA and home (Wash.DC). As soon as I walked in I remembered why I said "never again", 4 years ago. Noting has changed. Dark, dank, old decor-felt as if I were in someone's basement. Laminated menu (YUCK) and old crummy bathroom. I went to wash my hands and left feeling like I needed to wash my hands. The garden salad and the bread were decent. The Maryland crab soup was full of cabbage, not much crab or flavor - BLAH. The crab imperial was a lump of crab meat, shredded cheese and maybe beaten egg, not sure, but something made this ball of broiled mush yellow in color - DOUBLE YUCK. My friend picked through it, ate none of it. The broiled seafood platter - the shrimp and scallop were decent but were, again, in this yellow stuff that was maybe margarine, not sure. The crab cake was terrible and not eaten. We also ordered the jumbo lump crab cakes. You get 2 crab cakes the size of baseballs. We picked through and pulled out what lump crab we had in one of the cakes, the other we left on our plates. Not even worth it. The seafood bisque came out the consistency of pink mayonaise, no joke. We had them take that back. It was still on the bill so we had to have that removed. Also THEY ADD THE TIP, NO MATTER THE SIZE OF THE PARTY. I asked about it and was told by the waiter "there's nothing I can do about that, it's automatically included, it's automatically in the computer, it's always that way" LOLLLLLL, they are TERRIBLE at this place. So please, SAVE YOUR $ AND YOUR TME AND GO ELSEWHERE.

Unfortunately I can't give this place half a star, which is barely what it deserves. Having spent 9+ hours apartment hunting in the humid heat, my family stopped by this place because it was the closest, and we were ravenous. We should've kept walking hungry. The servers were exceedingly rude until it came to the time for us to pay the bill. The menu is confusing, and when my order was not what I had expected or wanted, the server proceeded to attempt to force me to accept something I did not want. The waitress then, upon hearing what had happened, yelled at me to explain what I had ordered. M'dear, I may look Asian, but my first language is English. I can understand you clearly without you yelling and causing a scene. What happened to the customer is always right? I would've taken the order if you guys weren't so rude about the situation. It probably would've been better than the overly priced 1/10 stars shrimp Alfredo I wouldn't even give to the rats. That'd be animal abuse.

Do you like a clean restaurant? Do you value ambiance and need bathrooms that are somewhat sanitary? If so, don't go here. Food was okay. A lot of locals appeared to be here but Geesh, I felt transported to the 1970s with the distinct impression that that might have been the last time the floor was vacuumed. Food was good, but hard to enjoy in light of all the other things distracting us. Did I mention that the restaurant had a stale, old smell? There has to be something better out there.

Went to mo`s last night for my cuz birthday was a party of 12 .I'm giving this place a three out of give due to parking issues/ matters of the bill at the end of meal and the overall appearance of the place which was not great.however our waiter nick was awesome he was very informative truthful and engaging throughout our dinner now food was good I had shrimp 4 way that's not listed on menu consisted of jumbo fried steamed cajun scampi very good crab balls were ok reminds me of Phillips...crab dip too cheesy and soupy ...in reading some of the reviews I guess it depends on what night u go and who ur waiter/waitress is also I suggest get something that is not on menu that's what I did when it came to my entree I was pleased with portion size and taste had to take doggie bag as well as everyone else at the table

Ordered the crab cakes and they are huge without a lot of filler. The food was good, but after many bites I was not that interested anymore. I guess I waffle between quality and quantity. I think that they could scale back on the portion and season a little more.

Really great jumbo lump crab cakes huge portion sizes of everything! Ask for Mo Jo he is a great server and he will give you really strong drinks as well. I request him all the time. Tip is already included in the bill for those who are cheap and don't tip lol! The decor is terrible I agree with the others but I was there for the crab so it didn't bother me. The rolls are good too.

Ill be honest. I was pretty confused when I entered the restaurant. The place looked run down and tip toed on the border of a Philly corner store take out joint and a failing business without the funds to clean the place up. The waitress was nice in making sure we got what we needed. Food wasn't bad as I expected worse from the looks of the restaurant. Service was solid but they need to update this place. The food and service was over shadowed by the look of the restaurant.

Pro: Really good crab cakes. Crab Cakes are HUGE! The King Crabs are awesome. To top it off, I had a chocolate chip brownie with vanilla ice Cream! Waitress was very patient with us "out of towners" and did an excellent job explaining the specials and items on the menu. This place is also within walking distance from the Inner Harbor. Con: They will add the tip onto the tab automatically. It was just my husband and I and they still added a 17% tip. Not cool!

I'm trying to be fair, but I should have taken it as a sign from the heavens when the power went out shortly after we ordered our meals. We didn't leave, but should have. It took our group of 8 about 30 minutes just to order drinks, and by that time I guess we felt like we were pot committed. Just after, a loud pop was followed by all the lights going out. We were assured that the kitchen was still up and running, and the Summer evening light actually created kind of a nice atmosphere. We were having a good time talking, and didn't want to start over at another restaurant. So, we took it in stride, and ordered another beer. 45 minutes later, our food came. I ordered the lump crab cake, which I guess was pretty good. I don't know what really good crab cake is supposed to taste like, but this was rich and a little sweet. It had some kind of bread as a binder. One of the other guys I was with made a comment about that... not sure if that's common or not, but he thought it was a little odd. I couldn't finish even half of the portion I was served. The veggies served on the side were awful... a bland, undercooked, un-seasoned pile of unhealthy looking broccoli and carrots in a bowl. Think scary elementary school cafeteria. Overall, dinner took over two hours, cost a lot of money (over $50 per person) and wasn't satisfying. Was it terrible? No. But I'm pretty sure I can find better seafood in Baltimore than I got at Mo's, and for less money, too. My advice is to skip it and look elsewhere.

    - 1 star for added 17% gratuity to every check (although i can empathize based on the demographic of their surrounding) - 1 star for atmosphere. looks like a scene in Goodfellas (good and bad?) Great food, reasonable price for the portion and the quality

It seems Mo's is a popular name for a restaurant in Baltimore and this one was within walking distance from the hotel. For the famous crab cakes, the menu has a built-in up sell. The reasonably priced one was not the flagship crab cake. The flagship crab cake was some what over priced. I guess this is the inner harbor tourist area. I went with the reasonably price item and it was just so-so.

Very disappointed. Dirty cold inside and service was extremely poor. Waitress actually forgot us after sitting us and the same gal regreeted and didn't remember us 10 minutes later. Then she trashed her co workers to us. Food was only soso. Crab cakes were big but lacked flavor. Calimari ok but marinara bland. Very over priced for the quality, service and setting.

So decor is the only reason this place is a 3 star.. but the crabcakes are out of this world. We were almost the only people in this restaurant/bar.. but wow.. the crabcakes were amazing. The waiter was local Baltimore and very proud of his food, you could tell. Wow, the crabcakes. They are huge, too!

I'm not picky at all & ill dine out just about anywhere. My girl friend & I will eat anywhere from Olive Garden to 4 or 5 star restaurants depending on the occasion. We were on vacation in Baltimore and were looking for a good sea food dinner. Mo's fishermans wharf got mixed reviews with some people loving it & some hating it. I don't take the real negative reviews to heart because most of them complain about how long they waited for their drinks or that one little thing went wrong and ruined the dinner ect. So we figured let's give it a try! We got there and it was uncomfortable from the start. There was no host just the owner that told us to go upstairs n find a table. So we did. Our server told us of their 2 specials which cost 50$ each and came with barely anything. We steered clear n ordered off the menu. I got fried calamari (which was chewy and most def frozen) but I ate and didn't care, my girlfriend got the crab soup, which consisted of hardly any crab but mostly shells. We didn't complain about either figuring dinner would make up for it. We both ordered their popular seafood trio & mixed grill.,. They were kind of pricy but it was vacation so no big deal. My entree came out and smelled "funny" the shrimp had an ammonia smell, my fish was watery & my crab cake (mo's famous crab cake/8$ upcharge) was cold in the middle. My mashed potatoes were also "warm". I didn't complain I just asked if my potatoes could be heated and they were. 1/4 through my meal we stopped & couldn't go any further both entrees had similar problems with the shrimp & crab cakes both sides were still ice cold. We got a manager, got our bill cleared & got outa there. I highly highly recommend not going there for the $$ your going to spend you can go anywhere in the harbor.

The food is pretty good but the decor and interior needs a professional makeover, plus when entering the restaurant (lower level)it smelled . Fortunately we ate on the upper level. I would only recommend take out. Very small wine list and over priced. Portions are huge, one meal can feed two. Not good if you are watching calories.

This place has gone downhill. The food was always expensive, but at least it was good. Now this place is dirty, overpriced, and the food is average at best. I hope they get it together.

So yeah, hate to be an ass about this, but we couldn't wait to come back here and eat, our 1st experience was so great, but this time....not so much. The wait time for a table was awful, especially when we saw at least 15 people leave while we were waiting. Food was good as remembered. But the crab meat had so many shells it was like eating crab CHIPS. I'll give it one more chance to see if this was just a bad day....

This place never disappoints me. If you want so-so seafood and great ambiance go to the oceanaire, if you want GREAT melt in your mouth, (who cares about the ambiance) seafood, "Gotta go to Mo's"!!! Ive been coming here for over 10 years and I love the stuffed lobster imperial here, and it can't be beat! Yes you will pay, but it's worth every dime. If you want nice furniture go to Theodore's.... you want good seafood, go to Mo's.

Overpriced disappointment. Okay crabcakes. The word Glenfiddich meant absolutely nothing to my waiter and we had a hilarious moment of incomprehensiblity as I listed other words that began with "Glen" and he didn't even realize I was trying to order a drink. Zero mention of where the oysters come from (the jar, I suspect). I shouldn't complain about not having to eat my veggies, but it is odd to be served an entire meal without a single vegetable that is not white. Potatoes, onions... nothing else. Dessert never arrived. A tip should not be automatically added to a check, period. That left the final unsavory taste in my mouth.

Crabcakes were huge and full of crab with very little filler, but also full of shell. Girlfriend described them as tasting like deviled eggs with crab. I can see that. Service was absolutely horrible and and gratuity is automatically added to your bill. Overpriced too. Spent $115 bucks there for two people. Wouldn't recommend, nor would I go back. Big disappointment.

My daughter and I met my sister, visiting from out of town to take her to dinner to have a real MD crab cake. As Lexington market was out of the questions (still the best crab cakes I've ever had), we jumped on the bus at the hotel to Mo's. Upon arrival, the waitress on the bottom floor was a treat, there were quite a few groups who arrived but she only wanted to take tables of two, but we were all three or more, when the driver suggested the rest of the groups go upstairs missy waitress got an attitude and told him , "No!" until she filled her seats. We finally went upstairs a much bigger room. I ordered the seafood bisque and crab cakes, my sister ordered the seafood platter to share with my daughter. Our waitress, well, I guess when you already know you can charge 12% gratuity for a part of three to dine, what work do you need to do? I had to ask for bread, and wait for her to come by. The seafood bisque was okay, the seafood in it was good, the bisque needed some help. The crabcakes were at best, eggy. There was not one bit of spice, where was the old bay or something to go with the crap cake? My sister's fried plate, was good, I helped myself to the catfish and shrimp, very good as well as the scallops, but her broiled crab cake was as eggy and bland as mine. I paid the bill gave the waitress my credit card and as she walked away, she didn't notice it dropped out of the billfold. Instead of looking for it, she came back to our table to ask us if we had seen it when it fell. That was NOT funny at all. Luckily another table spotted my card on the floor and she picked it up, to bill me along with the 12% gratuity for a table of three people. The best thing bout this place was the driver who took us to there and back to our hotel. Service from the staff was less than worthy of automatic gratuity charges (btw, I normally would tip 20%, which is how i realized the tip was already on the bill, but I still would have given her 15%, 12% seems to be okay for minimum work for them). I will not be back nor will I recommend it to others. Tweak the flavor and jack up your wait staff to care about their jobs and not just their tips, and I could feel different.

Not much in the way of atmosphere but the crabcakes make up for the lack of decor. Great service, we were obviously out of towners and the waiter suggested a local beer Heavy Seas - great beer, great crabcakes and great service. Also got the shrimp salad sandwich tons of shrimp in a slightly spicy mayo dressing - really good! I thought for the prices (lunch) we got plenty of great food. Did not look at the dinner menu so I can't comment on the prices at night. If visiting the Inner Harbor again would definitely stop by. My only complaint was the rest room was really disgusting I don't mind a retro "old school" restaurant but seriously the bathroom should be clean. There's nothing retro about a smelly bathroom!

I came here around 10:30 am on a Tuesday. (I got up super early to get to MD and my tummy was on empty). I asked was it OK to get served and while they remarked it was a little early, the owner happily seated me. He recommended the seafood omelet which was fluffy and packed with shrimp, crab meat and scallops. And the kicker--HOLLANDAISE SAUCE! (That's how I spell happy)! This meal also came with steamed broccoli and carrots and fresh rolls and bread/butter and I was only out about $10-11 or so. Be aware of the 17% gratuity added to your check. I ended up going back my last day in the Charm City and getting broiled crab cakes what were fist sized, tasty and meaty (no fillers here) and came with the same veggies and rolls. I also got the coconut cake which was moist and yummy (I'm thinking the frosting was Betty Crocker, but that's cool). I was so full off the first crab cake and some of the veggies, I couldn't finish, but did NOT want to throw my money and good food away. I literally packed my leftovers and ate them on the plane ride back home. I'm sure the people eating peanuts were a little miffed at me.... Bottom line: Mo's is the place to go for excellent seafood. (I'm a little disappointed about my beans and rice lunch after writing this review--but I digress) I highly recommend this place--you won't be disappointed!

My wife, I & my granddaughter have visited Moes Fisherman's Wharf for the past 3 years for Thanksgiving & New Years Eve. Up until this last evening 12-31-2011, we thought the food was great & the service was excellent. Last night was the worst experience I've ever had in an upper scale restaurant for a very long time. The service was satisfactory, but the meal & appetizers were a sad excuse for food. The crab cakes were more filler than meat I would challenge anyone to find the crab meat in the cream of crab soup. My wife's crab lump au gratin was the nastiest thing I've ever had in my mouth. We have also been patrons of this establishment's sister restaurant Moes Fisherman's Exchange in Towson Maryland for at least 20 years, up until about 3 years ago. The quality of the food has fallen considerably, and he fact that they won't serve their food on linen table cloths (paper covered tables) is a huge negative for me. I could see paper, if crabs were being served, but when I'm spending $100.00 plus for a meal, (?) To say the least, I & my wife will never be returning to either of Moes reataurants. It's a sad shame as an owner, to become so greedy to actually sacrifice the quality you once were known for to pad your own bank account.

Crab cakes are good -- At least they have that going for them... Service was horrendous. The server (John) was rude, slow and couldn't get a simple order right on Super Bowl Sunday! Bathroom looked like a crack house, and hadn't been cleaned in days, at best. Stay away from the crab bisque, it's a mess. No lump crab, and thicker than glue (probably because of how old it was). We loved the crab cake, but EVERYTHING else was awful. I don't think we'll give this one a second chance.

If you are like me, you like to eat well. While in baltimore, we wanted crab cakes. Thats what you do here Mo's came recommended, so we went. They offer shuttle service from must hotels. We found that nice but now we know why. No one would go there otherwise. I ordered the cream of crab soup, which was good. My boyfriend had the maryland crab soup. He couldnt eat it. He pushed it to the side. Our server never asked him if there was a problem. Our server brought out crab cakes. They were terrible. A shell in every bite. We did not eat them. And again, our server never asked if we enjoyed our meal, or if there was a problem. Instead of asking the manager over and given him a piece of my mind, I decided to just ask for the check & leave. Do you know what? They added a tip in. I was furious. We were just two people. How date they! .$50 later I would have rather eaten at Mcdonalds! Don't go there, ever!

Awesome crab cakes. Almost all meals can feed two so the prices aren't bad (and hey people, its seafood!). I wasn't expecting a high end restaurant so I had no issue with the decor or service. Our server was friendly and checked on us multiple times. I had one of the combination platters and enjoyed everything on it.

I was in town with my husband for a convention and we decided to eat lunch here with some friends. 1st red flag was the carpet, there's something cheezy and dirty about a restaurant with carpet....So after we sat down, we waited about 15 mins for water and bread and then another 25-30 for our lunch. There was a couple that came in after us, who received their bread and water and meal before us.... I ordered the shrimp alfredo, which tasted like a frozen meal thawed. I couldn't finish it all. There was stuff floating in our water, dried stains on the ceiling, and stains on the carpeted floor. I will never go back and just thought I'd share.

This place was recommended by a local for an authentic baltimore seafood experience. I will admit the food was great, but the service sucked! When we were ignored by Lisa, our server, I made a mental note to reflect my dissatisfaction in her tip. But get this, a 17% gratuitity is automatically added to your check. Had I known this, I would have got my 17% worth. I will make sure I read the fine print next time.

Where to go for seafood? oh, Mo's Fisherman's Wharf, right? Wrong. An associate and I made the pleasant but distant walk to Mo's (from Light St.), and I think due to hunger and the lengths at which we went to get there, the musty smell upon entry wasn't enough to turn us away. We were seated upstairs which was only slightly better. The menus were nice and the wait staff was seemingly engaging, but nothing special. The portions were good, but for a place that touts being of great value for the price I was not impressed. Crab cakes were what I was excited about on my Baltimore excursion, but I feel I would have been better served going somewhere else (bits of shell weren't too appealing) and my lunch partners fish seemed a little gamy. We had a 25-30 minute wait AFTER we paid the check. In all fairness it was due to the fact that they lost her credit card. So you can hardly blame them for the wait. After all, they did inform us that they had to dig through the trash cans. I don't believe there was any attempt at reconciling the ordeal, and I took the leftovers back to the hotel only to toss them the next day. Too many other places to enjoy in Baltimore to risk a meal here. I recommend a pretzel dog at the stand in Fells Point. (if you want to dine somewhere infinitely better, see my review of the Water Street Tavern just off Light Street)

Gratuity automatically added to EVERY check? My wife and I visited on vacation. Had an "okay" dinner, with "okay" service. When we got our check 17% gratuity was added on for TWO people. We normally give between 15%-20% anyway, but the idea is the wait staff EARNS the tip. Does the management not have confidence that their waiters/waitresses will give an adequate level of service to deserve a tip? Even though the food was good and as was the atmosphere. I will not return for this reason. There are too many other fine restaurants in the area who pride themselves on the quality of their food AND their service.

Went to Mo's for lunch. Service was good; we had a good waiter. Overall, the group seemed pleased with their meals. I had a regular crab cake and is just OK. It had too much filler. The atmosphere is lacking. I would not hurry back.

COME ONE PEOPLE! I can't believe some of these reviews were so bad. The crab cakes were wonderful, the Oysters Christopher were fantastic, and huge, My salad was "NOT" bitter and for a side salad, it was huge. The staff were friendly, helpful, and prompt. It was a good choice that was suggested by a local that said this was where he went for sea food. I would go back. Try it and when you are finished, walk out their door, make a right and go to the Italian bakery at the end of the block for a fantastic cannoli.

Huge 10 to 12 oz crab cake that tastes really great for about $15. Virtually no filler. Included side baked potato which was also quite good. The crab soup could be spicier. Awesome server with endearing personality. She said she had been with Mos 8 years. Hard to believe it was not packed for lunch.

The pros: We ordered the specialty dish... Crab dish which included, jumbo crab cake, king crab legs, crab au gratin, and some other type of crab. The crab was excellent! However, on the crab cake, the meat wasn't de-shelled cleaned enough because as you eat the crab meat there were pieces of shell in it. Seriously!!! Neg: The bathrooms are horrific! They were filthy dirty and it smelled like someone had smoked a joint. Service was the worst i've ever had in my life!!! our server was useless and didn't do anything. The waters were rarely refilled only after prompting and he was the most rude server i've ever come across. Be prepared to pay 17% gratuity no matter how big your party is, maybe that is why the server was very rude. The place can definitely use an uplifting. Will not return to this place.

This is my first review ever. I could not be silenced. THIS PLACE IS DISGUSTING. My parents liked this place years ago and suggested we meet there tonight. I drove up from DC to meet them there. I walked in the door and was immediately struck by the sparse decor. But it wasn't just sparse...it was just plain icky. My parents were upstairs in a very large room with at least 30 empty tables. At 6 pm on a Weds night, there were only 2 occupied tables. I feel like this place was great back in the day, but now had fallen into disrepair. The carpets were super dirty and slimy. The air was musty. But the BEST part were the ceilings. Completely covered in water stains and one panel even looked like it had mold. Bathrooms that hadn't been cleaned in days. My dad had already ordered drinks when I arrived and didn't feel like leaving, even at my urging. (He's a tough dude.) So, we stayed and endured. I asked my mom (as she drank her warm glass of chardonnay) when the last time she had visited was, and she said a couple years ago...and that she had gotten food poisoning 2 days later, but the origin of the offending food had never been discovered. Hmmmmmm, I wonder.... The waitress was very, very attentive. I will give her that. But I had to chastise another waiter for singing a song so loud as he filled salt shakers (we were the only table by that point), that I couldn't hear my mom speak. To pay $36 for 2 crabcakes in that kind of environment is ridiculous. So we opted for backfin crabcakes at only $21. They came out and were absolutely huge and not too terrible, although a little mushy. The best part was the automatic tip they added to a table of THREE. I have never heard of that in my life. A total scam. If you enjoy huge seafood portions while sitting under a moldy ceiling and being serenaded by a wanna-be rock star, this is your place. I still chuckle when I recall my mom's parting words: NO MO MO'S!

The place could use a good painting. The walls were dirty and full of holes. The food is mediocre at best. They do a booming business with there van that picks people up at the hotels. The service was good. I would not recommend it overall.

We weren't impressed by Mo's. It was recommended by a couple of the locals we talked to. The crab cakes are the main attraction here, so that's what I ordered. They were huge. I ate part of one and ended up giving the other one to my husband. The crab cakes were not made of huge lump crab meat, but rather just a few large pieces and way too much small shredded crab meat and filler. The worst part...the cost. It was $35 for two crab cakes. YIKES! The little rolls they served before dinner were good, but they couldn't save the meal. I wouldn't go back again.

This will always be one of my favorites. I have never had a bad meal here. The seafood is always great and the pasta is to die for. The icing on the cake is that the drinks are great also. Not watered down at all. They are nice and strong. The service is really good. A must try!

Had a decent meal at Mo's while in Baltimore on vacation. Location was close to our hotel, although the walk along President is not all that exciting. Ordered one of the large combos to split, which was A LOT of food! Crab cake, shrimp, scallops, salmon and a huge lobster tail smothered in their deluxe crab mixture. The salmon was just ok and the lobster was a little over done (rubbery). But the crab mixture, crab cake, shrimp and scallops were all pretty darn good. Also had some local micro-brew to accompany. Our waitress was friendly and humorous. We had a nice meal, but would certainly order less food the next time around.

36 dollars for two crab cakes? too rich fo mah blood. so anthony bourdain came here? my impression was that this place was a little too run down -- it was once a nice-ish place but it seems that hasnt been renovated since it opened. im sure the seafood here is fresh, but the prices for this dingy place are a wee too high

Maybe I really don't like crab cakes- I thought I did. I've eaten crab cakes elsewhere and enjoyed them. But Moe's crab cakes were full of shells. I was constantly pulling large chucks of shell from my mouth. Our waitress was pleasent when we arrived, but quickly disappeared not to be seen again when we we asked for drink refills. Her attitude completely turned sour when my wife finally walked over to ask for our check after waiting over 30 minutes for the check. And then the automatic tip... Really, Moe's? Do you really think that poor service was worth 18%? Is that why the waitress could have cared less about the service? This was supposed to be a special dining night out for my wife for Mother's Day. We were so disappointed. We will not go back and are advising all our friends to avoid this place.

Fantastic crabcakes and made a few diff ways. The jumbo cake can feed 2 and it's pricy $35. There are cheaper versions but this one guaranteed there are no fillers, just pure crab. Service was excellent, always kept my glass filled and very polite. They add their own gratudity 18% I think. It said dress code but everyone was in normal attire, nothing special

Service was okay, but the food was by far not the best I've had in B'more...definitely check out the other choices around - even if it's a chain. I regret not walking a few blocks over to Phillips, but I we were in a hurry. We were expecting a dive by the exterior and were shocked when we walked in and saw white table linens. The fish sandwiches weren't worth eating more than one piece and the crab cakes were standard at best. 17% gratuity is automatically added, so be careful when tipping.

My friends and I ended up coming here because we were trying to go somewhere else in the area which ended up being closed. We drove around and thought we would give it a shot. It was definitely a mistake. First of all, the corner we sat in had a weird funky smell that isn't normal even for seafood restaurants. We shared some seafood platters (broiled, cajun, and fried). The fish and shrimp really didn't taste fresh. The jumbo lump crab cakes were really good, which was the only good thing about the entire experience. Near the end of our meal, we saw the waiter vacuuming just a few feet from us. What the hell? Even another older couple who were next to us seemed bothered that the waiter would be vacuuming during the middle of service. When I looked down at the ground, it was pretty dirty. The food is overpriced as well. I'm not sure what the locals think of this place but it seems like this is the type of place that attracts tourists because of their prime location.

The crabcakes here truly defined what real crabcakes should taste like. They were the BEST. I ordered the crabcakes that were the size of grapefruits with generous lumps of crab that were sweet, tender and incredibly moist. After years of eating crabcakes elsewhere, dining here sets a new benchmark for what to expect going forward. The place has a cozy feeling given the limited available seating. The service is friendly the price well worthy of the value and quality. No visit to Baltimore is complete without eating crabcakes. And you want to make sure they are from Mo's.

This place is funny. The waiters have that Baltimore accent - you know it when you hear it. But they're professional and efficient. The crabcakes are the best thing there, in my opinion. They're huge, and a great price - two softball sized cakes with almost no filler for like $30. You'd pay $30 for one smaller one here in D.C. One night we had the oysters Rockefeller and they were incredible; tasted like the sea and didn't have that horrible oyster taste. I hate oysters, and I loved these. Unfortunately the next time we ordered them they DID taste like oysters so that was the end of that. Other crab dishes were good but didn't compare to the crab cakes. The atmosphere is funny - small downstairs with a bar and the bathroom right there, no atmosphere, and upstairs it's like - I don't know how to describe it. Like a cheesy wedding hall or something. We prefer the downstairs. Another good thing is that Vaccaro's is within walking distance for dessert. Personally I like Baltimore a lot - it has a lot of personality, and a tiny little Little (really little) Italy, which as an Italian I appreciate. Anyway when we want a great crabcake for a non-outrageous price we make the drive up here.
