I just stopped in on a weekday afternoon for a beer and a little Olympic soccer. Completely underwhelming experience overall. First, no bartender. I walked into the back bar, and no bartender. Finally she emerged and started talking to another patron (in the mostly empty room) while I stood there politely waiting to be served. The barback had to nudge her and let her know I was there (thank you sir, btw). The beer selection was okay and the domestics weren't too pricey, the decor is what you'd expect - mostly frat boy chic. There's not too much elbow room once it gets crowded, and the music seems caught in a time warp. For what it is, it's fine, but there's nothing spectacular.

Very, very good happy hour specials. I am very cheap so I love a nice and strong $3 cocktail. And the beers are also nicely discounted during HH. They have a variety of items on their menu that look great. Tuesday night is burger night (@ 5pm) and those are delicious. I sometimes get the veggie tray too and even that is pretty decent for a bar that specializes in pub food. Bartenders are friendly and the location couldn't be better.

Great 3 story bar. Cheap prices and great food. I went on a Monday night, got 2 beers & 12 wings for under $15.00. The wings were legit, big & meaty, great sauces. Downstairs was really loud and crowded. It was triva night. We just wanted to watch the game and eat so we went upstairs which had a lot more room and it was more laid back. Great weekday spot for beer, basketball and grub.

From perusing the other Yelp reviews, it seems fair to say that Looney's a completely different place on a week night or afternoon than on a Friday or Saturday night. I can't speak for the food or sports-watching environment. I stopped in on a Saturday night because a friend wanted to meet up with someone there. The bouncer studied my ID hard and asked for 'backup.' I am nearly 30. This should have been my cue to leave. A Taylor Swift club remix was pumping through the audio system and scantily clad (it's February!) girls were grinding on frat boys with bored, drunk looks in their eyes. I ordered a vodka soda and it tasted like toilet water. This is not a place to go to look for an acceptable life partner on a Saturday night. If you want to get drunk and hookup with someone inappropriate, I think you will have 100 percent luck. Have fun!

It's rare that I have the bar experience I had on St. Patrick's Day. It was crowded as expected which I did not have a problem with. I purchased drinks downstairs with cash for the first round. The second time I decided to use my car in which the bartender informed me that I had to keep a tab open which was ok. I decided to close the tab because they did not have the beer I like and the cocktails were too watered down. The bar tender asked for my last name rudely, and as she brought my card back she said very rudely that I couldn't come back and order anymore drinks and she got the attention of the male bartender and told him not to serve me anymore drinks. She was so rude and nasty for no reason. I love hanging out in canton but I will never come to this place again!!!

I would like to thank @[1338314506:Looney's Pub] for all of the awesome nights I have had at the bar over the past 9 years. Tonight however was an epic debacle of customer service. It was my last night out as a Baltimore resident and Looney's kicked my friends out before I could make it there because I thought my house keys were stolen. The amount of money I have happily given this establishment during there he past 9 years was squashed tonight by John, Billy and the server who felt it was impossible to server our table. I will never spend another dime in this establishment. If this is how friends treat friends, I would rather hang with my enemies. Thanks for a truly awful send off. Love to Derrick, Kristen Goodman and Richmond. The rest need to take a customer service course. At least a $1000 was lost tonight. I hope the owners are happy. What a crappy send off. I cannot believe this happened. When your waitress takes 30 minutes to take a drink order for a 10 to 12 top because she is watching TV and then talks smack we we leave, needs an complete education in the service industry. I have never had a bad experience at Looney's, but 1 thing killed all the good years.

My friends and I used to love Looney's. The food was great and the staff was very friendly. After our experience last night, I'm not sure I would want to return. The food was AWFUL! My boyfriend had to send his back because it was full of salt and very dry. (He ordered the french dip) The server didn't even take the meal off the check. I had the seafood quesadilla. I'm not sure where the seafood or the cheese was, but it wasn't in my meal! The server never checked on us or brought us refills. This isn't the first time we had issues with the wait staff. But hey, we tried to understand. I doubt we will be returning.

Had a surprise party here & it's ideal. Great space, good atmosphere, college ball on the TVs and multiple specials. Beware, very busy after BSSC games - but loud and fun. The fracco-lizer was my favorite sandwich but the wings are amazing -

This past weekend I went down to Baltimore with my Boyfriend. Canton is one of my favorite places to go. The square is awesome and Looney's is always my first stop. Since my BF had never been, we did a tour of the square. I have always had great food, service and drinks at Looney's. Their crab dip is the most amazing dip I have had. It was the perfect temp and the bread was warm. I wish we could have gotten two orders, but we wanted to save room for other things. We were their early and hit their happy hours special. it was awesome, we spend $23 on 4 drinks and an the crap dip. The waitress was great, super friendly! I know at night time this place get packed, but I would still go in and wait for food there, that's how much I love it!

Loony's is a place I probably wouldn't go to on a weekend evening but they've got some fantastic specials during the week. Draft Guinness is one of my great weaknesses and on Tuesday evenings you can get one for three bucks. That same night of the week they also have a five dollar hamburger special. The burgers themselves are very average but Loony's makes great fries and at that price it's hard to complain. The problem with this bar is that aside from its prices there's nothing to make it stand out. Service is usually slow and they seem to be understaffed during the week so prepare to wait a long time at the bar before being served. The atmosphere inside the bar is pretty generic too, nothing to really distinguish it from any place else. Beer selection is decent but not amazing. Loony's can be a great deal during the week if they have a special that appeals to you but if you're paying full price then I'd recommend finding a bar with a bit more character.

Regular sports bar feel with three floors where you can find a pool table on the top one. We ordered a TON of appetizers for our table, and my favorite hands down was the crab pretzel. DELICIOUS!! I tried the buffalo sauce for the wings and it didn't really taste anything like buffalo, so not sure what that was. Crab cake sliders were also pretty good. Would be back even if bartender seemed to forget our orders every once in a while.

You won't catch me at Looney's on a weekend, but honestly I don't really go to the square on the weekends. I was, however, pretty happy with my experience at Looney's for happy hour. My friend and I wanted to sit outside and when we got to the square at about 5:45, Looney's was one of the only places left with outdoor seating. She got a rum and coke and I got a Blue Moon to start, then we ordered mozzarella sticks and two orders of hot wings. I was really happy with the prices for the happy hour, but mostly I was thrilled that the happy hour lasted until 8pm. We ordered another round of drinks and then my boyfriend came and ordered a few drinks and some wings as well. I really liked the wings! The hot ones were spicy, but not to the point of being inedible. Honestly, I could have ordered the hottest flavor but I like my wings very hot! The carrots were iffy, but I wasn't too concerned with them. The service wasn't great. Our waitress didn't seem to be in a hurry to serve us, even when the bar was basically empty. The bill was about 70 dollars or so with tip, which was a pretty good deal considering how many drinks and how much food we ordered. Solid place to come for a happy hour in Canton!

Stopped in for a few drinks on a rainy night. The had several games on the TVs and beer prices were reasonable. The staff was friendly and outgoing. They had a few BIG security guys. But all of them were very polite as well.

The nachos was a complete joke, they claim they had chili on the nachos, lie they did not. A bunch of salsa and other stuff thrown on their with a hint of, a long strand of blonde hair. Keep your money please not worth the waste of money.

Looney's is probably one of my favourite bars in Baltimore. They have two floors. The downstairs is more relaxed and more of a "bar feel", while the upstairs has more of an upbeat "club feel". It's a good best of both worlds type of deal. Drinks are decently priced and music is good. Also, a good place to come during the day for food and football. Overall I love it. Great service, great atmosphere, great food, great price.

  • C B.

Looney's is a place you either love or it's ok. The weekends draw a big crowd mostly the post-college types because its a great hangout with DJ'd music, video games, and a pool table. The girls like to dance and the guys like to drink. I've eaten a sandwich and fries here and it's good fare. Drink prices are on par with weekend venues - no real bargain but not a wallet buster.

  • Keith S.

Pertty good pub grub for a reasonable price. Wish I had 1 in dirty Jerz. I've been hear a coup of times and find the the drinks and food is quite resonably priced exspecially compared to what I'm use to paying in the Harbor or NYC. Just remember when ordering YOU R IN A PUB so order wisely. Although I have yet to be diapointed and I have made some prettty bold choices in the past(i.e country fried steak) turned out be some of the best I've tasted...go figure

If you are looking for a place to watch "the big game" and decently priced drinks than this spot should suffice all your needs. But if you are looking for great service and good food than turn and run. I came in on a Sunday to watch football and have a few drinks. We had to order three times because they were out of several items on the menu which in my opinion is just ridiculous. I can see you running out of one or maybe two items but they were out of several. Also I sat at the bar and the bar tender just sat back and leaned against the bar and was on his phone, not engaging us in conversation, not asking us if we needed anything. I had a beer and the infamous "orange crush." As far as orange crushes go it was only average. Just my two cents on a local bar.

We ate here recently on a Wednesday night. There was no wait and the waitstaff was fine. I got the portabello mushroom burger but asked them to make it a wrap instead (call me difficult). It was fine....too much wrap and they charged me extra. Whatever. My son got a cheeseburger. My son always gets a cheeseburger. I don't think he's met a cheeseburger that he doesn't like. There wasn't a crumb left so there's his thumbs up. I think he Yelps. (hope he doesn't read this and get mad). Service was fine, food was fine. I'm not going to put it on my favorites list but i would go back.

  • Daniella H.

As long as I stick to the old bay honey wings and orange crushes or beer, I'm a happy camper! Mussels are mushy, shrimp are over cooked and service is sometimes ridiculously slow when vet busy, sometimes not. All in all a good place to go to hang out with friends.

AVerage sports bar. Went to watch footbal and it was a great spot for that activity. Food that we ordered was good and the beer was cold. I would go back.

I went to looney's on the fact it was raining, pregaming was successful and just seeing a crowd of people outside of the place made us choose this bar. Upon further entry we walked into a large multiple floor bar which had people navigating up and down the single aisle like stair case. This is one of the first bar's down here i noticed there being a handful of micro brew beer options on tap. Pretty good, except for the higher price which came with the beer. A $2 additional mark up on a Dale's Pale ale seem's a little strange but i didn't complain. Loud music from the 90's, trashy people fill the atmosphere. There is dancing and people playing pool. All is fun into a fight broke out at the pool table. Oh yeah fun times.

I went in here for dinner tonight and had some great food. Monday is wing nite and they are 50 cents per wing. The wings here are great and some of the best I have had in Canton. Beer specials along with food specials go down every night from what I read on the menu. We also got the raw bar sampler and caeser salad all great. Service was also real prompt and I cant wait to go back. Ive also been here for the bar version of the place which alot of people reviewed it as, I always thought it was your standard bar scene except there isnt really a dancing area if youre into that sort of thing.

Looney's is more of a bar than eat-in bar/restaraunt. On the weekends it is a younger crowd, but still a lot of fun. It has three bars and is a great spot to watch a game or enjoy some drinks with a big group of people.

  • Rachel S.

Boring environment; typical college-style bar. Mediocre food even for pub-level expectations. Weak rail drinks. Snooty bartenders in most of my experiences. Additionally, on one occasion, two girls who apparently bartend at Looney's but were having drinks on their off-night had the audacity to mock my date and then attempt to start a fight with me. They were escorted out by the bouncer. Completely unprofessional, distasteful, and embarrassing on their part. Hopefully they were fired. Haven't been back to find out. Overall a big disappointment, even when expectations are realistic. My least favorite bar in Canton Square. If I could give less than 1 star, I would. Looney's, just.... give up.

  • Austin A.

We ordered the chicken nachos and raw bar sampler. I think for a bar, it was good. Though in a neighborhood filled with great bar/seafood/etc options, this could have been better.

  • Anneke M.

Disclaimer: I have only been here during off-peak times, late lunch/early happy hour. For some reason, they only have one bartender behind the bar on Friday afternoons. She is a super competent and great bartender, but expecting one person to deal with food and drinks for a Friday afternoon just isn't realistic. Their wings are great, get the Honey Old Bay! Beer is good, they have maybe 10 taps of a mix of macro and micro brews, I almost always go for the Southern Tier or Dogfish Head.

Great spot to sip down a couple of cold ones and watch a game. Their easy menu goes from one end of the spectrum to another. You will not fail with this menu, everything is very good!!!

I've been going to this place for YEARS and never felt the need to review until now. This is a local pub for me and my most recent experience really dissapointed me. I got there at 7:30pm and didn't get food until 9:30pm. Even the beer took forever. I'm not sure what they were doing, but it took FOREVER and when we asked about the beer and food, she seems offended that we were even asking. The food is pretty good though even if it is regular pub fare. I would order your hamburger a little under how you like to have it cooked as they always over cook the food. Also please be sure to ask your server what the specials are for the night you go as we found that what was listed on the menu was wrong- different specials than what was printed. Good if you are going and have nothing better to do, and the outdoor seating is nice, but this place has slipped A LOT in the past few years and with all of the other great places in Canton Square, I would suggest you skip this one.

Decent place to stop in you're on a Canton bar crawl or going to and from JD's. Small as hell, but the crowd is okay, and the beers are cheap.

Standard bar with run-of-the-mill Guiness advertisements everywhere. Weird seating setup that isn't particularly comfortable. Happy hour on Saturday was a good deal. Also, fries were very tasty.

    (2)
  • Vincent L.

This is not your typical bmore bar. Great atmosphere. But this is not 5 star dining. Dress wear is usually T-shirt and jeans w/ flip flops for the men w/ casual dress wear for the ladies. Great place to socialize and meet new people who live in the area. The bathrooms at this place are a mess! Every toilet leaks! This place would be better if they did do somethign about the bathroom situation. Food is great! But hear they have a vermon problem. U can hear them scamperinng around in the ceiling at closing! If you want a place where lots of locals hang. This is a place to start off your night. Huge NY Giants bar on Sundays at game time.

Went on a Monday night and the only thing that was enjoyable about the experience was the All Night Happy Hour. Service was terrible. We waited about 15 mintues before someone greeted us at the table dispite a bar tender helping all the tables around us, we felt invisable. We decided only to order a crab pretz which was mediocre at best. After forcing that down we decided to leave but again could not find our server and had to wait another 20 minutes before our check was dropped.

This place was about a joke. A sports bar gone bad is really the best way to describe it. After a long day, a few friends and I went for a burger and beer. I was in a tank top, the two bouncers at the door stopped me. I've heard of dress code, but this was insane. This is a place with plastic cups and utensils. We wanted to sit outside and I was just going in to ask for menus. They wouldn't even allow that. I was told I had to sit down and wait until someone came out for me, seriously? The best part was the waitress looked like she should be working at Hooters in her barely-there apparel. The food was decent, but it took an overly long time to come. The inside, when I borrowed a neighbors polo to use the restroom, was a shock. Run down and on the dirty side. Toilet paper all over the bathroom, graffiti, etc. THis was on a Tuesday when the crowds weren't out, can't imagine what it looks like on the weekend. We had to beg for out check. I forgot to mention they placed a trash can by our table and we got to enjoy crashing beer bottles, a plates being unloaded right at our table side. I can't recommend this place less. Unless everything is closed and you're near starvation.... run the other direction.

So yes its a bar and yes it gets packed at night, but the food is much better then just the average bar food. The bartenders upstairs (guys) are much better then the girls at the front downstairs bar. Their chicken sandwhiches, wraps, and salads are my favorite. Outdoor seating to bring your dog!

  • Marc H.

this may come off as srsly pretentious, and may very well be a function of baltimore in general, but the crowd here is just so..... plane jane. dress code: Lads - Jeans, polo shirt with white undershirt showing underneath or button down with some sort of stripping pattern, shitty sneakers or rainbows Lass - Hideous looking dress your aunt would wear to thanksgiving or jeans + tshirt + black north face denali fleece The food? Very average. The wings are decent but the nachos sucked ass. The drinks are normal bar fare, with nothing really standing out. It gets packed here so it's not bad to go to simply bc there are a lot of people around but other than that Looney's is pretty much a skip in my opinion.

  • Gunnar V.

This place is not awesome. Food is neither very good nor cheap. Look suspiciously at anyone who tells you this place is their favorite. Aren't there a million places that fit this description: burgers n sandwiches, pitchers of crappy beer, 20-something Cantonites getting all shitty to a lame DJ.

    (2)
  • Mark N.

Conflicted on this one, The food (Blackened Chicken Tacos) were excellent, really excellent - spicy to the point of making my ears sweat, that's good stuff. The service however was horrendous especially considering it was early Saturday afternoon, there were 2 bartenders on and only 3 customers. Apparently I was invisible as was my empty beer glass for the duration of my entire ear sweating meal. It got to the point that a line cook/kitchen manager actually poured me another beer after shaking his head the girls complete incompetence. Than to top it off she (over)charged me randomly including an extra sandwich on the bill. I rarely leave less than 20% but those girls got a solid 10% which I never to do. They were THAT BAD.

    (2)
  • Maria P.

Decent food (wings are cheap on Mondays), full bar, and ample seating on non weekend days. Parking around the square or on side streets. It's a typical sports bar where you can watch your favorite teams or just catch up over some drinks with friends on a random Monday. If you sit upstairs you order at the bar and the bar backs bring the food to you but there isn't table service during the week days.

    (3)
  • Adrienne L.

I love how I can get discounts for playing Kickball. Drinks are discounted. I love the outdoor seating and the atmosphere of the bar. But most of all I love Foula. She is the best waitress there. Always on top of her game with a huge smile on her face even when I ask for more things. This place is so much fun! I always have a good time.

I have to admit, I am a sucker for Looney's! Best spot to watch games, they have like 1000 TVs and great food and beer deals. And, since it is a sponsor bar, it's our go-to spot after our local sport leagues games too! ALL of the food here is delicious... Wings Jerk Tuna Bites Loaded Fries (even the regular fries) Nachos Crab nachos Crab dip (***best in town) Chicken sandwiches (there are like 10 different kinds and all that I have had are delicious) ... the list goes on, but yes everything I have had has been awesome! Might have eaten here last night, might have gotten the Jerk Tuna Bites, and they might have been amazing! And by might, I mean I did. If there is a game on TV then they have a game day menu and game day specials. There is always something on special here. Located on the corner of Canton Square, they have a bunch of outdoor tables, a front bar, a back bar/dinning room, and an entire upstairs bar/dinning area with billiards and arcade games and tons of TVs remember!? Get there early because it is always crowed because it's amazing, duh. And try not to use the bathroom because its gross... definitely a downside... icky. That and the crazy, crowdedness are the only negatives about this place.

  • Deborah N.

Went to this location on Easter Sunday simply because I wanted nachos and they answered the phone. They had just opened at 5 that day so they weren't too crowded but also weren't dead. The super attentive and spot on bartender suggested the fish tacos. She was also eating a very healthy-looking ceasar side salad which I coveted for its healing and energizing greens. So I ordered the fish tacos and a side ceasar. This turned out to be enough food for two people, so next time I would split it with someone. I actually took the leftover fish home - it was that good. (I got the fried rockfish tacos, not the seared tuna ones). Have only previously been to the Fulton Looneys, which is a much closer location for me. That one is a gigantic warehouse & crowded all the time. This one was more your traditional Baltimore bar, in an old buildings with lots of small rooms. A littly divey, but not gross. I'm not huge on too many sports, so I chose the room with the fewest tvs. I would definitely go back. It turned into a great Easter dinner! And again, I want to compliment the service. Very attentive, pleasant and a big plus.

It's rare for me to leave a negative review for your average bar. I don't usually go expecting amazing service or food, but more for the atmosphere. We went to Looney's for the Ravens playoff game, with it being understandably packed. We moved to the upstairs bar where the specials were good until 5PM according to the signage. The bartender (upstairs bar, blonde in the room opposite the stairs) told us after we ordered that the specials had stopped earlier and demanded we pay the higher price. Another group next to us made the same complaint. I'm pretty sure she was simply pocketing that cash as tips. Will avoid this place like the plague after this, who screws over paying customers who live down the block?

  • Eman E.

This was my first time here. Great atmosphere. Didn't expect it to have so many levels from outside and definitely attracts a large crowd, even in the winter. Situated with a lot of bars. Went to go see my friend dj and he was fantastic. Played all types of music which was great for the mixed crowd. The food was ok and service was kind of slow but still overall good experience. I ordered the crap dip which was ok but definitely could have been better, sliders were plain, but loaded fries were yummy. The parking is definitely a downfall. All street parking and after a certain time, you'll be looking for parking all night.
