Jimmy's has won the crown for my new favorite greasy spoon in Baltimore. It's a terrible shame that it took me so long to finally get to Jimmy's and I have no explanation as to why. I've heard from so many people how great this place is. I finally made it this weekend after a long night out before a study session around the corner. We arrived just in time. The hand full of open tables filled up quickly after we sat. If you are a twosome, expect to get intimate. In true diner style, most of the two-tops are four-tops with a small barrier wall down the center making two two-tops. The menu is a decent size for a diner. Not as large as some of the huge stand alone diners but much bigger than Sip and Bite and some others. I had the Hungry Man breakfast: 2 eggs, 3 pancakes, bacon, sausage, and scrapple. Everything was perfect. I wouldn't try to improve on a single thing about the meal. The bacon was crispy. The sausage came as two huge extremely juicy links...no tiny frozen patties that I find in a lot of greasy spoons. I don't usually like scrapple but Jimmy's was delicious. My eggs were done just as I ordered them. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious, not at all dry. The service was efficient, quick, and knowledgable but lacked personality and friendliness. Our waitress clearly had many other places she'd rather be. My only criticism was the coffee. It could definitely have been better. It lacked flavor and strength, tasting a little watered down. Overall Jimmy's is definitely a diner you want to check out if you're in the area and also worth travelling past many of Baltimore various greasy spoons to get to. I can't imagine a better beginning to a Sunday Funday around the water!

Very great people staff and food, I went for breakfast around 7:15 and wasn't disappointed. Spent about 10 dollars on the steak eggs and home Fries and was surprised to get a above average steak for this cheap. I haven't been in the evening but breakfast went beyond my expectation. Recommending this place for anyone looking for good service and food early in the morning

Great food!!! This was our first time here, found this from a Yelp search. Excellent prices and great food...oh I already said that. The owner talked and joked with us as we waited and ate, great guy. We sat at the bar top area as there was no wait there on a busy Sunday morning. All the staff were very friendly and provided aome recommendations, which we ordered and loved (texas toast sandwich with bacon, egg & cheese, pancakes and the chicken philly cheesesteak sandwich). We we not disappointed with anything. We will definitely be back again to Jimmys and to say hi to Jimmy! Thanks!!!! 5

I finally tried out Jimmy's for lunch one day with some co-workers when we'd all been craving "brunch." One of my co-workers got a philly cheesesteak omelette, which he raved about and I'm pretty sure he almost always orders when he heads to Jimmy's. Another co-worker got a breakfast platter, which also looked pretty delicious. I personally ordered their tator tot special, which was tots covered in pulled pork and cheese. It was delicious and pretty much tasted exactly how you'd expect based on that description. Jimmy's does standard diner fare solidly well. Don't go here expected anything to amaze you or for any sort of customer service. But I would recommend it for any time your craving some greasy breakfast fare.

S'alright, s'okay! A Baltimore legend, where you'll find a nice mix of folks that represent a decent cross section of Baltimore's populace. All day breakfast is always a good thing, so props for that. My gal and I went this morning, with a thin layer of ice covering many local walkways and some streets. Not a big crowd, and so our service was teddy before us. I had the egg platter, opting for bacon, tater tots (nice to have a couple alternatives to the usual home fries) and rye toast. The bacon was nice and crispy, as ordered, but the cardinal sin of an already broken egg yoke was transgressed. That's a major penalty in the book of this egg dunker! The tater tots were plain Jane, with no topping or seasoning. The lady ordered grits with cheese and bacon, and was not impressed. Coffee was what you'd expect of a non-gourmet place, and prices were fine.

This restaurant has won many awards and accolades for their breakfast food. And now that I've eaten here, I can see why. After all this time, I'm disappointed that I hadn't discovered Jimmy's sooner. Everything is done to perfection...their pancakes put new meaning to light and fluffy, the sausage link are perfectly medium well that burst when you bite it. The bread was the freshest baked. All the ingredients tasted fresh and high quality. Service was friendly and down home. Prices were very reasonable. Atmosphere was perfect for this type of establishment. Open early at 5am. Easily a thumbs up thumbs up....two thumbs up!!

Food was great! Service was quick, but grumpy. It was hard to get our waitress' attention for a refill and for then for the check.

  • Tia T.

Customer service was terrible! Have written letters to owner, CEO and restaurant due to disrespect and poor customer service from our waitress. While waiting to be seated; I overheard the manager talking about a disgruntled couple from MA who complained about poor service too! I see why!

Of course, I've been to Jimmy's a fair few times since I've lived in Baltimore. Jimmy's is definitely a no-frills joint that serves food in the most unadorned way they can. It's a diner - as long as a diner has the recipe right, they survive off nostalgia for simpler times when people only ate "normal" food. Culinary inspiration? Nope. I usually get an omelette; the Greek style is very tasty and has a plentiful amount of veggies. I'd recommend it. I've had the french toast a few times as well and found it to be very home-style. I think they use the same ingredients my mom does. If you want to feel like mom is cooking you breakfast without breaking the bank, this is a good option. Service is usually competent and fast.

Great old-school breakfast joint host Jimmy was one of the most charming and nice man I've ever met talk to us like he knew us his whole life would always come back here when we come to Baltimore usually once a year love it

Great diner! I love Sip and bite, but tried Jimmy's for the first time on a Tuesday morning. It was 745 am and it was full of shift workers, so you know its a good place. We sat right down. The food came fast and was hot. Waitresses were really nice. What more could you ask for in a diner?

Went here on a Saturday morning and the entire area of Fells Point was quite busy. This was actually our 3rd pick since the previous two restaurants we attempted to eat at had over an hour of wait. The waiters seem disorganized here - we weren't able to get any refills on our coffee. They do NOT have any alternative sugars or milk for the coffee which was just eh. The seating is tight and the environment feels hectic. Flagging the waitress for anything was tough. The meals are simplistic and nothing to rave about. I ordered the texas toast with Canadian bacon and egg and cheese. The texas toast was on the small side. The Canadian bacon was two thin slices that didn't cover the entire bread at all - you barely taste it. Egg has on the small side too. Now that I think about it, there was no cheese on my sandwich either. I hate places that go cheap on the sandwiches and you end up eating mostly bread. It was not filling at all. Good thing it wasn't expensive at $5 and change I believe, but that sandwich should have been $3 if that for what was in it or rather not in it. The others in my party ordered a chicken parm - tiny strip of chicken with tons of sauce on a roll. He said it didn't taste good at all. One other person had some sort of omelette, but it was tiny and no big deal. You're better off going elsewhere where you can feel like you've had a good meal and be served properly. This place was probably busy because of the prime location to the harbor. Other than that, I can't see them doing any real business with locals.

Love, love, love! Love, love, love! This place!! I discovered it when I moved to Fell's Point in 1993 while I was stationed at Ft Meade. The fries with gravy, the grilled cheese sammich and the people's very friendly attitude won me over. I've had almost everything on the menu since then. I brought a friend of mine who was here from NYC there for breakfast and he had the crab cakes. He told me that they were the best he ever had! Anytime I want to go to Fell's Point (I moved to the county), all I have to do is say to my wife, "Jimmy's?" BAM! We're there!

Jimmy's is a very respectable diner that's located in the main part of Fell's point. It's a breakfast spot and gets packed on weekends. The inside is nothing flashy and is actually pretty divey. The prices are inexpensive the food is decent. The seating can get a little bit cramped with people waiting on a table over pouring into your personal space. The breakfast options are all the traditional. I've heard people rave about their scrapple -- have never had the courage to try it. I would go back to Jimmy's, but I really wouldn't go out of my way to go there.

    (3)
  • Mark N.

It's cheap, the food is average at best. It's take FOREVER to pay on the weekends, last time I was there it took longer to pay our check than it did to get our food. Service is pretty poor as well. I suppose it's something of a Fells Point institution but there are dozens of better places to get brunch on the weekends for only a couple dollars more.

  • Nick C.

At breakfast today just poor all around. Seated quickly but then breakfast (eggs pancakes and the like) took close to 1/2 hr. Waitress never bought out rye toast and never refilled coffees. I know they're busy but this just sucked. Go to Whole Foods down the road and get yourself an omelette and coffee at the omelette station. Faster cheaper better

You don't know Jack about Baltimore until you've been here. As local as local gets. And I don't mean in a farm to table way Mr and Mrs Hipster. Local as in locals work and eat here. Go get an artisinal juice that will cleanse your colon somewhere else.

The place was Ok. Jammed when we go there and the waitress did her absolute best to serve us. To me the food was well executed but ordinary. Nothing special but If you're looking for a typical breakfast this fits the bill

Me and my co worker's wanted some breakfast after work and Jimmy's was open at 530AM......We had Pancakes, French Toast, Scrambled Eggs, Sausage, Grits, Cream of Wheat, Home Fries, and a Belgian Waffle. Food was delicious...... Thanks Jimmy's

If I am looking for a big breakfast, my choices would be Jimmy's in Fells Point or Broadway diner in Bayvew. You can get a large quantity of food for small $$. My favs are breakfast specials (combination of eggs, meats, and pancakes) or hungryman special if I want all types of meats. You have to walk up to the cashier to pay your bill after your meal.

Rude waitress and poor quality food. Have no clue how this dump won any awards. Try Captain James for breakfast. Friendly and great quality.

Best coffee ever. Waitresses are locals and very sweet. My husband and I enjoy breakfast here. Prices are cheap but quantity large! We are regulars here.

Had breakfast there with my family this morning. I went based on the reviews I saw here. Let me say, I was not impressed. I've had much better. I tried the corned beef hash that everyone raved about. Didnt care for it. Whatever sweet ingredient they add to it (tastes like ketchup) totally killed the corned beef taste. One family member ordered the Spanish omelet, it was overcooked and dry...she sent it back. The only thing everyone seemed to love were the sausages. One the positive side, the service was fast and we didnt wait long. I much more prefer the Sip & Bite over on Boston Street. I wish we had gone there again instead.

We were told this is the quintessential Fells Point breakfast experience. It is true! Great place for a simple breakfast, great food, good coffee and friendly service. If you are REALLY hungry, they have a Longshoreman's Breakfast for $20 that includes T-bone steak and eggs!

  • Cassandra S.

Given this place two chances and I guess I want it to be like the diners I'm use to in NJ. It's just not, and I don't have high expectations of customer service but I do think a diner should have a big menu and of course, darn good food. Jimmy's prepares good that is below basic. They only serve hot sauce in plastic packets and the lettuce is bright white iceberg. My food wasn't very warm and when I left there my clothes smelled terribly. They do serve beer and lottery tickets, go figure the rationale there.

  • Stephanie S.

I really like this place for what it is. An old school diner! You walk in and wait in line for a table. I've been here twice and the place is always packed. Lots of great diner food with breakfast served all day! Unfortunately, they don't sell bloody marys (the waitress made sure to tell me that there is a place around the corner that I could go to. lol), but they do have beer. Unfortunately, they are not open late, which I think does them a disservice. I'm sure that they would get a lot of business from the bar crowd.

I hate hipster foods that are "deconstructed", "inspirational", and for foodies. It's nice to have an old fashioned menu selection like jimmy's. Food is hearty and delicious.

This was one of the places i definitely wanted to hit up for a meal while in Baltimore. I went for breakfast and had the buttermilk pancakes. It wasn't as large a portion as I expected it to be, but it was satisfying. The diner was a bit divey but it added to the experience. The place is clean and acceptable. The wait staff is very friendly. It's also located on a beautiful street in Baltimore. Definitely worth the trip! God willing, I will be back there!

At the moment I'm going to give Jimmy's 3 stars. I am pretty sure I'll have a follow up review soon resulting in 4...but I'll see. Jimmy's is most definitely worth check out at least once. Especially for breakfast Good: Fast and friendly service. Very large menu with tons of options. Seriously... They have pretty much everything you can think of. Breakfast is served all day and is cooked to order. They also have tons of good ol comfort food. Bad: Really there arent any. It's not the fanciest place on earth by any means but it'll do. I want to come back here at least 2 or 3 more times to have something totally legit to report

This is my husband's grandfather's favorite local spot for breakfast and for lunch. It's small, homey, busy, and service is attentive. I ordered a two breakfast with pancakes, and I sampled home fries, and their infamous scrapple. All items were cooked perfectly and the portions were sizable for little money. Of course Grandad got VIP treatment since he's a regular :) This is located in the heart of Fells Point, which is a great place to take a leisurely stroll after your filling breakfast.

Jimmy's is one of those places that reflects what the Baltimore of my childhood was - gritty, down-to-earth, and straight to the point. You want "ahm-bee-ahnce", go down the street to Blue Moon and wait in the heat for a few hours. You want good food fast with no bitching and whining, come to Jimmy's. LoML and I sampled the breakfast specials; pancakes and eggs for him, a potato and egg bowl for me, with some creamed chipped beef on the side. The servings are hot, filling and huge - you won't go hungry here. No, it's not French toast covered in sugared cereal, but you know what? If that's what you're after, you're not going to enjoy Jimmy's, anyway, because it's just not that kind of place. Jimmy's is a local watering hole, a favorite of the television stations, an informal meeting place for politicians, a dive. I'm surprised that Guy Fieri hasn't found this place yet. (Please don't let him know it's here. I beg of you. Thanks.) Jimmy's has been around longer than I've been alive, and they make some damned good food. If you want pretentiousness and nasty attitudes, go right around that corner and wait your six hours for a table. We'll be right here happily eating our breakfast and laughing at your naivete. You're welcome.

Jimmy's is my go to spot if I want a real home cooked breakfast on the weekend. You can even call your order in ahead of time and they will have it ready for you when you come in. I wish you guys were still open late night.

  • Benn A.

Love the breakfast and the early opening time. They basically make breakfast food the way a college student would at the end of a night of drinking. Lots of cheese and butter and huge, meaty portions. Nothing spectacular (home fries are usually disappointing), but it's cheap and always a solid choice for a filling, tasty breakfast.

  • Doug H.

Pro's: Fast. Okay: Food is nothing special. Home fries were spicy but otherwise lacked flavor. My omelet was overcooked but otherwise tasted good. Although it's scrapple which typically is made by 2 different companies across the mid-atlantic. Con's: They're fast but I think that's because they want you in and out as quickly as possible. Service was horrendous. I've never experienced such an unhappy service staff at a restaurant before. Example: After we placed our order a receipt was promptly put on our table. I quipped "I guess we eat and get the hell out". If you're in Fells and want to go to a diner hit Lucia's in the market. Their food is great and their service is top tier. Always happy in there.

Medicore. I got a turkey club that had a total of maybe an ounce of meat on it and way too much mayo. Chili was weird consistency, but OK. Service was good though for being very busy.

Sometimes you just want basic, simple food- especially for breakfast- and Jimmy's is always a reliable choice. Not much to look at from the outside, it has a large dining room which always seems to be bustling. We were sat quickly on a Sunday morning, but there was a line against the bar section when we left. My wife ordered a BLT and I got a bacon, egg, and cheeses sandwich. They were delivered quickly, and they were exactly what we asked for. Simple, no pretention. Our server came by several times to fill our coffee. I don't think having the cash register next to the server pick-up station is a great idea, but they really have an efficient operation.

A person at the Visitor's Center said this was a Baltimorean's Platonic Ideal of breakfast. Just for that quote, you should go. Look, it's a diner, with diner food. Good, solid, basic. Nothing fancy. And that's how it should be. If you want a diner and you're in Fell's Point, go. If you want breakfast and you're near Fell's Point, go. You could do worse at nearby popular joints. Don't expect fancy stuff. Enjoy the platonic ideal of diner experience!

Food is okay. Nothing special and nothing to brag about taste-wise. Service is not the friendliest. I have been more than once and don't mind returning, but would prefer to go somewhere else if possible.

Great food, must go !!!! if you looking for good breakfast ( forget about your diet that morning), you should definitely go there. I usually get the breakfast special ( coffee, eggs, pancakes, and sausage). - you cant beat the price ....

  • Tiffany M.

If you like breakfast food that tastes like your meemaw made it, Jimmy's is perfect. The grits, pancakes, eggs, and turkey sausage are delish. The prices are cheap, and they're fast. All of the employees sound like they're from Highlandtown or Dundalk, which I LOVE! If you prefer your meals with ambience, wrong place. There are other choices near by at twice the price and half the food.

Came into Jimmys on a Monday afternoon after striking out at getting a table in a reasonable time at Blue Moon as most yelpers have described. I know its not that difficult to make and or mess up but the oatmeal was awesome here. I got a cheesesteak which was ok, I wasnt a fan of the bread they used and then later noticed they have a cheesesteak omelette here which I will get next time. I also got some wings which come chinese style fried. Smallish drums but if you like a ton of fry these are for you. Everyone else got an omelette's which they enjoyed. The service here is 0 bullshit but the waitress was awesome and our food came out fast.

Starting my morning off right today and what better than Jimmy's to get things started. Once i got inside i felt like this place was for it's regular's and anyone else is to feel like a outsider. Someone who belongs down at Blue Moon Cafe, perhaps? After finding some seat's and stealing some silverware from the other side of the table, yeah there is a divider between each side. Our waitress came, she was okay kinda made me feel awkward as i fumbled around their menu looking for their drink offerings. After picking coffee it was delivered in less than a few seconds. Mine was over flowing and some spilled to the plating below my cup, only till i noticed something dripping did i notice the overage. With a hand full of food options in front of me i chose to go with the french toast, egg's, bacon and coffee deal. To make things a little more interesting i opted in for the apple and walnut topping for my french toast. As the order came my topping sat on the side, this is perfect for me but i really didn't need a small soup bowl filled of toppings for my 2 pieces of toast. YUCK! Bland and boring something is wrong here, i took another bite into my french toast topped with baked apple walnut sauce, yuck! With some help of log cabin syrup my meal was some what tolerable. The egg's were boring, though scrambled they were boring. And my bacon was burnt, crumbled into itself and just wasn't what i expected. The cost verse value doesn't seem to add up here, spending $10 on a meal should result in something interesting, not boring bland and just outright bad. Though passable if this is what you long for, there is nothing here that makes it stand out. No real value either, for the money i expected some hash brown's or free toast, I had neither.

I eat here A LOT. What to say about Jimmy's? This place is like home for the holidays. Riotous, loud, everyone talking at once, the occasional yelling between people not getting along, good, dependable comfort food, and the more time you spend there, the more you feel like part of the clan. The home fries are tasty. The food is hot and plentiful. Occasionally it's surprisingly good, otherwise it's dependably good. On weekends, there can be a line for a table, but don't fret. The kitchen and waitresses are FAST, and the tables turn quickly. Oh, and tip the waitresses, hon! These are some hardworking ladies!

A solid joint for an unpretentious, full-belly brunch. Jimmy's is serving your classic American breakfast food, done simply well in the Fell's Point neighborhood. Definitely get the home fries here. Done on the flat top/griddle, they are nicely crisped on the outside, but fluffy soft in the inside. Skins on potatoes and with green peppers. The french toast here is done with it's eggy batter and a nice swirl of cinnamon. The eggs cooked to your liking exactly; the whites of the over easy eggs are cooked and the yolks perfectly runny. The corned beef hash here is pretty good too; definitely not your dog-food canned variety. A simple diner setup that does get a bit full on weekends, but the wait isn't too long. The service here is friendly and quick. Comfort food done well. Family owned and family friendly.

Visited 8am 11/30/11 I've been coming here a couple of times a month for the last 8+ years for breakfast / burger & beer after working night shifts at the hospital. How fitting to write my first review after my working my very last shift for Johns Hopkins while I work on my Master's program. When you enter Jimmy's early in the AM, you will see a lot of Baltimore PD's finest and lots of us medical personnel from Hopkins enjoying real American dinner food!! This place is casual to the extreme, and reminds me of Mel's Diner!! Located right on the square in Fells Point. After a nerve racking night in the ICU taking care of patients that are trying to die there is nothing better than an Icy Cold Draft beer to relax with and joke around with co-workers. I either get a Bacon...Yum!!! Cheeseburger or a BLT with a fried egg (Bacon...Yum!!! Again...lol!!!). Both with French Fries (okay for you can call them Freedom Fries or just Fries who cares if you are made at the French). In either case you will notice that Bacon...Yum!!! is a staple of my dietary tastebud requirements. They both go down well with mugs of frosty cold Yuengling Draft Beer. If anyone tells you that Yuengling is not a domestic...they are nuts, as Yuengling is brewed in PA and is America's oldest brewery!!!

Service is quick.. the food is good, and reasonable! It's a diner.. think diner food and you're good to go! Hardest part is getting a table but if you are patient, the clientele tends to move through quickly (thanks to great fast service!) I love the Breakfast Bowl here - it's a good size without being overwhelming, and it's inexpensive. Oatmeal is always offered with all the fixings. Coffee refills are frequent! You can't beat this place for a morning-after-partying-breakfast-fix. Staff was pleasant to chat with every time we've been in.

if you want diner food, breakfast pancakes and eggs etc, jimmy's has been doing that well for a LONG time. no surprises, the coffee sucks, the service it friendly and quick. the food is cheap and exactly as you expect a short stack with bacon and eggs and hash browns should be. and if you want to try some local flavor, they have house made corned beef hash. don't expect fancy food, but you will leave feeling satisfied and it won't cost you much.

Let me say this; I love me some fatty breakfast foods. The first time I was here, I got a breakfast bowl. Eggs, potatoes, bacon, all mixed together. It was amazing. Last Saturday I got chocolate chip pancakes with bacon. I'm known for never finishing the food on my plate. I ate all of it without hesitation. If you happen to be a health nut, you should stay away from this place. If you don't mind being a fatty every now and again, this place is great. Reasonable prices, and the wait staff aint so bad.

This is pretty much a better Dennys that serves beer on tap. How cool is that? I got the salmon cakes. A little more bready than I'd prefer but I can't complain. I love the thick cut fries. I like this place better thansome of the other gimmicky Fells restaurants.

First of all. I LOVE diners. Diners that get it right have all the makings of a good night. Or after a long night out. Whichever comes first. This one has neither which is hard to do. Secondly, if a Diner cannot make Meat Loaf. Then pack it in. The mushy pile of ill gotten gains from whatever animal happened to pass in front of a mack truck that day was for shame. It came to me MICROWAVED. I asked the waitress if it was and without a beat she said it was. Normally they try to pull the "I don't think so, lemme check" Partly because we were the only ones there and we could hear the BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEEEEEP!. This was a sad meat loaf. I wanted to ask what happened after Bat Outta Hell it was so sad. And I almost wanted to start a GOFUNDME account it was so pathetic. Normally I would give my left overs to my dog. But I wouldn't have even given this sorry mess to Cujo. The waitress god bless her was nice and sweet and she deserves the star. For the rest of this fly trap, I say lets get a REAL diner. For SHAME.

Knowing this is a Baltimore fixture, I had to give it a try. I expected that the place would be busy, service would be fast, and the food would be cheap and greasy. I almost got what I expected. The place was busy, but we waited no more than 10 minutes for a table of two. Service was not as fast as I would have thought as it took a while for the waitress to come over to take our order. She did apologized and thanked us for our patience. Food was simple and greasy. My friend got 2 french toasts with bacon still dripping in oil, 2 scrambled eggs, and a coffee for less than $8. I got a heart attack in a bowl aka "Breakfast Bowl" with cheddar cheese on top of sausages and 2 eggs on top of a bowl of potatoes. It was alright, but again for the price of $5.75, I cannot complain too much. Nothing extraordinary about Jimmy's but it has enough history there that it might be worth a visit for a quick, cheap, and filling breakfast.

Whats not to like? Great value - breakfast with tip for under $10 a head. Good standard breakfast and lunch fare, lighting quick service. And beer for those late night breakfasts.

I like coming to Jimmy's because it is familiar food, fast, inexpensive and no frills. I'm whole heartedly surprised at the negative reviews. This is a diner. It has a normal diner menu at very reasonable diner prices served to you by locals who are fast and efficient. The term "greasy spoon" resonates in this Baltimore staple. I can get a burger and beer at 5:00 am and I can also get pancakes and coffee at 5:00pm. A word to the yelping tourists; this isn't a tourist trap Baltimore "experience" type of place. It is simply a good place for good food. Nothing more and nothing less, and that is exactly why I eat here.

A-OK diner food, not much more to say! I think that there could be a few adjustments to the quality of the ingredients in the things that they serve/products (e.g. better bread for toast versus the cardboard they serve) to make their food much better, but you don't tell a place like Jimmy's that's been around this long how to do things; you let them do their thing!

This is a breakfast review (although the rest of the menu looked promising). Well, we were going to go to Blue Moon Cafe, which supposedly opens at 7, but they were dark - so, whilst turning about on South Broadway, guess what we saw, lit up among the shuttered shops and bars? Jimmy's. With lots of cars parked out front. At 7 AM on a freezing, windy Saturday. Good sign. So after verifying star-itude with the Yelp iPhone app, in we went. It's a very clean greasy spoon, and appears to be a favorite of the locals. Good coffee, too. I got the corned beef hash, eggs, and home fries -- every bite was pretty much perfect. My dad chose the pancakes, sausage, and eggs, and he was extremely pleased, particularly with the pancakes (and, as he holds dual titles as a world class grump and breakfast aficionado, that's saying something) Total for a whole lot of breakfast for 2 was $16. Only thing I didn't see on the menu was some sort of eggs with gyro meat - I love that combo. Parking is free on weekends till 1030, and due to the lack of crowds in that area, this may become a repeat stop for us -- it's a bit of a drive but good breakfast dives aren't easy to come by.

It's a breakfast dinner, it's fast to get seated and service is prompt. Everything is cooked to order. There is nothing fancy about this place, they serve breakfast and are damn good at doing it, so go there for that and you'll never have an issue.

Great little diner in Fells Point. Very old school with counter seating as well as tables. Had a great breakfast here. Their sign says they were voted best home fries in Baltimore - they were pretty darn good, but could have had some more onions and peppers in them. The omelet was big and good, but there there was too much provolone cheese in it - there were huge globs of it. Service was great, regularly filling coffee and such. Will definitely good back.

Though its spoons are clean, Jimmy's Restaurant is the definition of a greasy-spoon diner. Located within clear view and a stone toss of the Baltimore Harbor, Jimmy's serves traditional all-American breakfast food--eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, pie--with bottomless coffee served by surprisingly efficient pony-tailed (and mostly middle-aged) waitresses. It's rare now-days that $6 can provide a complete meal with a drink, but Jimmy's is one of the dying breed of such places. For lunch, Jimmy's serves typical red, white, and blue sandwiches and some salads. Though--unlike its local Fells Point competition-- Jimmy's does not feature a liquor license, business is strong and the line of eager customers is frequently out the door. Good, simple food, bargain prices, what's not to like?

I don't share this nostalgia for old fashioned diners. I don't think in 30 years I'm going to feel nostalgia for Quiznos, either. When I eat out I want food that is better than I can make at home - or at least creatively different. What I get at places like Jimmy's is the same stuff I can make with supermarket ingredients. The breakfast was competently made but very ordinary. I can't say the same for the coffee. It was horrible.

  • Arminda L.

The food was surprisingly good. I enjoyed the pancakes and scrambled eggs, while my BF had his first scrapple and creamed chipped beef experience. The food came out quickly - nice when you're hungry - and we rather liked the cozy seating arrangements, and had a fun conversation with our table mates. The service wasn't great, but our waitress was friendly. We will go back if we're in the neighborhood, and recommend it to anyone looking for good food with a local flavor.

There is something great about Jimmy's breakfast on a Saturday morning, but it's not the food. (note...The hashed brown potatoes are really good). I think it's people of all walks of life from Baltimore eating under one roof. I'm a huge fan of restaurants that sit different groups at the same table, and Jimmy's has some of these table tops. It's simple foods at simple prices. It's a place people come to have real conversations and that makes it special.

Not sure I agree with calling it a Baltimore landmark, but Jimmy's is something to try out at least once. For being in the heart of Fells Point for at least 30 years, it's impressive in a way how little has changed with the diner. Pictures on the wall show local celebrities/regulars from years back, and looks like it's the same restaurant then as is now. That developers/new owners haven't gutted the place and made it into yet another Pazo/Salt wanna-be is refreshing. Historical analysis aside, Jimmy's provides pretty much exactly what you'd expect out of a local diner. Cheap and mostly greasy food, with breakfast being your best bet. I mean all of this in the best way possible. Sometimes a stack of pancakes with Land-O-Lakes and Aunt Jemima's is most satisfying than Eggs Comtesse with artichoke hearts and Bechamel sauce. Come for a good cheap meal. Just don't expect your life to be transformed by the food.

  • Dan O.

Decent diner-style food served up fast and cheap. There seemed to be a lot of locals in this place, ordering up some no-frills breakfast and chatting it up with their friends. My meal was a basic breakfast bowl that was filling and tasty. Not the most interesting menu, but places like this are good 'ol standards that aren't here to break new ground. And that's ok by me.

I love bacon!!!! Real bacon that is!!!! I found myself, Vane, and Erleen. Vane had been here and it was on our food destinations so i knew it would be good. It wasn't...it was great!!!! The feeling you get when you walk in is nothing short of the fuzzy feeling you get when you go to your regular joint. Like everyone knows you. The service was super friendly and quick. I ordered some eggs sunny side up with bacon and toast while my comadres had some omeltes and pancakes which looked and smelled great. Looking around the place you pictures of local celebreties and political people. Way cool!!!! The place was packed from the moment we got in till the moment we left and everything seemed to run smoothly. Next road trip i shall put this in my destination list for sure.

After working three 12 hour night shifts my friend and I decided to have a few morning cocktails (hey, its always 5 o'clock somewhere right?) and have some good grub before we slept the day away. So we went to Slainte had a bloody and 2 mimosas then moseyd our way over to Jimmy's. Did you know they SELL/SERVE BEER?! Well we didn't until we saw the fridge....they also have Keno and lottery tickets. So the boozing continued as we endulged in a great breakfast of eggs, toast, sausage, bacon, homefries, and corned beef hash. Quick and delicious - your ultimate stop for a greasy hangover cure. Very cheap too - we will be back!

Gonna keep it real here because some of the bad reviews on here crack me up. Look, this is an old school place with old school food. You don't come in here expecting Captain Crunch French Toast or an amazing Crab Benedict. This is the place you come when you want quick, cheap, homey food. So I've been here 4-5 times and every time I've gotten the same thing (2 pancakes, 2 eggs, coffee and bacon). The coffee is decent for a place like this, the pancakes are good, the eggs are fine once you add salt and pepper and the bacon is always cooked well. Service is not great, the waitresses don't really care and usually are too busy to spend more than a couple seconds at your table but for the most part I never have problems getting my coffee refilled. Overall, I'll keep coming back here when I want a quick breakfast. Much better than waiting 2 hours a couple blocks away to get into hipster haven Blue Moon Cafe.

Came to Fells Point to go to Blue Moon Cafe, but it was closed for the day due to ventilation problems. With a friendly and enthusiastic recommendation from a couple of locals that it was a true local staple of a joint, we tried Jimmy's. Your typical diner with a big, broad menu, staff that calls you "Baby," and quick service, we didn't go wrong. Hungry man's special and omelet hit the spot. Great basic pancakes. Perfect diner prices, which is a huge plus given the terrific location Jimmy's has right in the Fells Point main harbor area.

    (3)
  • Thomas D.

We attempted to have breakfast at the Blue Moon, but the 40 minute wait with a 2 and 7 year old was enough to send us running. Thankfully, a kind soul waiting for a table told us about Jimmy's and sent us on our way. We were not disappointed! Jimmy's atmosphere was casual and cramped, slightly boisterous, but very pleasant. Our waitress was promt and nice, and the food came quickly. My eggs were over easy and perfectly cooked. My wife's eggs were scrambled and specifically ordered wet, but came out exactly right! The corned beef hash was very good, but my rye toast was rather under-toasted. Mama's toast was fine, however. Side of bacon was fine. Kids pancakes were also fine. No complaints other than the rye non-toast. All food was good, fast, and very reasonably priced. Jimmy's for breakfast was definitely a hit, and surely merits return business!

Not impressed, I've been there a few times, and never was really impressed, the service leaves much to be desired and the food is just okay. They're not rude, but not particularly nice either. Once I had a couple of ants on my table. I think this place is very overrated, but like a lot of local places worth a visit for the experience.

A very nice surprise for my first visit to Fells Point! As I walked around with my Godmother I noticed all of the boutiques and colonial homes. I made the assumption that everything in the area would be over priced, but I was happily surprised when we stumbled upon this diner. You walk into a very welcoming dinning room that has many tables to accommodate loads of people. Once we sat down we were greeted by a warm server who took our drink orders and showed us the weekend specials while ensuring us that the whole menu was available for order. My Godmother ordered the Salmon Cake sandwitch that came served on her choice of bread next to a bed of fries. I ordered the Greek Burger ( a burger with feta, onions and Greek dressing) that came on a "bulky" roll that was actually a hamburger bun also with a bed of fries. Although I ordered my burger medium well it came well. That was our only complaint. For less than $20 we both ate well. I can't complain. The portions are sufficient. It was nothing amazing but not bad at all. I will definitely go back for a good cheap eat.

A glorified tourist trap. Bad service, bad food. Rude. All the four times I was there (twice by myself and twice with out of town guests asking to go there, well, it is a tourist' spot, like I say...) the bathroom was dirty.

If you're out early in the morning searching Fell's Point for a place to eat breakfast, look no further than Jimmy's on S. Broadway. Don't expect anything fancy, because fancy in ain't. Of course, if you're stumbling around Fell's Point early in the morning, you probably aren't looking for fancy. The food is hearty and flavorful. The coffee is good. I had the best pancakes I've tasted since my childhood. My son had the superb, home-made corned beef hash. You won't find that at most breakfast places, which normally use the very greasy canned stuff. The servers (aw, hell! They're waitresses!) are friendly, efficient, and totally down-to-earth. Jimmy's carries the "greasy spoon" tag, and it is that in the very best sense. Lots of local folks (including a gaggle of firefighters) were there enjoying their Saturday morning eats. Friendly banter among the locals and the waitresses completed the casual, non-politically correct atmosphere. If you're an old-timer (Jimmy's has that old-timey diner feel), or a youngster looking for a good breakfast place without pretense, give Jimmy's a try. As an aside, we think Jimmy's was one of the favorites of the detectives on Baltimore's Homicide-Live on the Street; probably the best cop drama ever produced. I'm sure you'll find that information interesting and useless.

This is the best dive in Fells Point. I try to force my girlfriend to get up before 2pm to come here with me. It's inexpensive fast and good. Get the two eggs w/ pancakes and a coffee for 6 bucks and then walk around the harbor a bit. Love it.

Traditional Greek dinner in the Middle of Fells Point... It's an institution! +s omelets: very tasty! Soups are worth the try! Service is very friendly Prices don't get better in econo crisis :) -s Greasy, greasy greasy... there's nothing good about that. Tips: Great for an all American brunch. Don't expect more... you'll be satisfied!

If you are looking for a classic american breakfast at an affordable price in Baltimore, this is is the spot. Jimmy`s is a couple blocks up from the pier on Broadway. It has been open for decades and is family owned and operated. You can expect bacon, sausage, eggs, pancakes and also, SCRAPPLE ! (which you do not see in Connecticut menus) Waitstaff is good and will get you in and out in a timely manner if that is what your are seeking, or allow you to linger over your meal. The bacon & eggs with potatoes and toast I ate, hit the spot, and my father gave his seal approval to his scrapple and eggs.

I love Baltimore, and I love breakfast so this place basically encompasses these loves using nothing other than another love, FOOD! I had been driving all night and needed to refuel my belly, this place was exactly what I needed. It was packed at like 8 in the morning on a Saturday and all these people looked like locals so I had high hopes. Thankfully, I wasn't the least bit disappointed. A cup of coffee, great omelet and a delicious, freshly baked cinnamon roll and I was a renewed driver ready to head back out onto the open road. This place is no muss no fuss, just friendly service and good food in a relaxed atmosphere. I could tell a lot of people coming in and out were regulars and the open kitchen let you see that everything was made to order. I know I'll be back in this neck of the woods and when I am, I'll be sure to stop in at Jimmy's.

Local landmark known as a favorite of the former Governor William Donald Schaefer (Mayor of Baltimore 1971-87, Governor 87-95). The menu is lower end diner food - think truck-stop. Expect a cheap meal that might be a little greasy but hits the spot. The place often has a line b/c it has limited hours, but the wait is no where as long as Blue Moon which is a block or two away.

    (3)
  • Kristin S.

This is what seems to be your basic Baltimore diner; friendly, no-frills service & decent-to-good food. We went on a Wednesday afternoon - no line, no wait. Tasty, artery-clogging corn chowder, decent (but hardly great) chicken parm sub, good burger. There's a step to get inside, but a guy (manager, proprietor, I dunno) said that they keep a portable ramp in the back & I only need ask for it.

This was my second time there. The first time was years ago. It was good food and good service. This time around....Horrible customer service from our Waitress, Birdie. She didn't greet us at all... Just looked at me and waited for me to speak. There was two of us but she only brought one water for some reason. The check was dropped on our table way before any food or coffee came ( she didn't say a word). We felt like leaving before the food came. I wish we did because the food also tasted rushed. We should have walked around Fells point and went somewhere else.

Plain old diner food (I was surprised that they used real eggs) that is really inexpensive. Also, they have very cool coffee mugs.

    (3)
  • Matthew K.

Good breakfast food. quick, fast, friendly service. Their pancakes were a bit dense and heavy, but otherwise, everything else in the food dept was a-ok. the only thing I don't like is feeling like the line of people & busboys are staring at you, when you get close to being done.

    (3)
  • Mark M.

The food here isn't particularly good. It's typical greasy spoon fare like you'd find at a thousand truck stops all across this country. Eggs sunny side up, frozen hash browns, and bacon, served on a plastic pastel colored plate, with some oj in a small plastic "glass" that's been around since the 1960's, and something that vaguely resembles coffee in a chipped plain white mug. That's what you'll see, in front of every patron, at every table, as you scan the room. There is absolutely nothing special about it at all. I can't fathom why someone would come here for breakfast when Slainte and WTF are right around the corner...literally. I suppose it does have a certain degree of old timey charm...but you're here for the food...it isn't a museum.

A Baltimore institution. You know exactly what you are getting when you enter Jimmy's. Definitely the breakfast spot. You can go by yourself, you can come with a friend, you can even take business clients. This place is Baltimore through and through. Don't be surprised to see local celebrities or local politicians as well - everyone goes to this place. Love it!

Jimmy's is a slice of life. The highlights here include: eggs and steak cooked in butter, chocolate milk that you can buy in jugs, and place mats with ads for local joints. The staff is friendly and real. Really cheap. They will take credit cards for the checks, but they only take cash tips -- way to go management for looking out for your wait staff! There are lottery tickets and keno games (I think it's keno) on the table, in case you just can't resist the urge to gamble while you're waiting for your omelet to arrive. My only complaint is that the "maple syrup" tasted like it was light maple syrup, which did not stand up to the buttery french toast. Overall, this is a great place to rehydrate, power up, or otherwise undo some damage you might have done to yourself the night before.

A friend and I grabbed breakfast at Jimmy's, a staple in Fell's Point, right near Baltimore's Inner Harbor. We were sat immediately, which was great because it was so crowded. We were also sat in the world's worst waitress' section, which was not so great. I'm not going to knock a restaurant because it gainfully employs a terrible waitress, so I'll get over it. The food was standard diner food. I had two eggs, toast, hash browns and sausage, and it was all pretty good. Nothing worth rioting over, and probably wouldn't be worth a 4-star review if there were similar diners in the area.

I'm a big Jimmy's fan. I come here every few weekends after a night out in Fell's Point. The food comes out quick and it always fills me up. Pancakes are always fluffy and delicious. However, my favorite thing on their menu is actually a lunch item: The Greek Burger. This place is a Fell's Point staple. Definitely something to try if you're in the neighborhood.

Food is horrible. No taste. Cups are greasy. Table service... what table service. 95% of the people there are my grandparents age if not older. More satisfying making my own breakfast at home and eating it.

Jimmy's in the heart of Fells Point is the kind of food slinging establishment you just don't find too much anymore. There's no 'cute' memorabilia or trinkets covering every square inch of wall space or 'flare' covered perpetually perky wait staff here. What you will find are basic foods served cheap, fast, hot and would you believe damn tasty too.

    (4)
  • Junnell S.

Jimmy's is definitely a Baltimore staple. They serve yummy breakfast food and everyone is friendly. This is a place for the locals. Like Jay said, you will see local celebrities and politicians. Jimmy's is also the home of "Manic Monday" hosted by Ron Matz on WJZ. Inside the diner are tons of "Manic Monday" posters on the walls and posters of famous people and Maryland politicians. A great place for super yummy breakfast food! :)

  • Jayson H.

I've eaten at Jimmy's twice now but won't go back. The food was good, good servings, and a fair price. The main reason I won't return is the service. There are only 2 waitresses on the floor, and far too many tables for the two to manage.

    (1)
  • Julie B.

Jimmy's is a good place to go for a very tasty breakfast or lunch. You can have either, any time. Crab and cod cakes are pretty darned good. The pancakes, eggs and coffee are excellent. Clean, quick, cheap, hot, no frills in the building or on the waitresses. Love it!

When available, the English muffin with egg, Swiss, and Canadian bacon is the perfect meal to help one get over killing their liver the night before at Leadbetters and Friends and also provides a hearty base for heading back over to start over again. It's a classic diner, a landmark, and worth the trip.

NO WAY NEVER AGAIN! I was so not pleased with my experience here, the thing I liked the most was the walk I took past the water to get to this dump! I ened up here after a failed attempt at trying to go to Morning Edition, a breakfast/bruch place that for some strange reason that is beyond my thought process, opens up at 9:00 a.m. on Friday?? Usually working people like to eat breakfast a little earlier during the week. Anyway, I had already gone out of my way and decided to be a little late for work to treat myself to a sit down breakfast for a change, so I had no desire to sit outside a restaurant for another 15-20 minutes waiting for it to open..So I yelp'ed up Jimmy's, it was close to where I was at the time and the reviews seemed pretty decent. I expected some old school quirky type joint that had been around for ages, where the regulars loved to go and that had good breakfast food. Kind of like a Mels Diner. Boy was I ever wrong and disappointed. The place is a dump, there is no other way around it. The counter seating area did not look inviting at all, with some weird partition in the middle of it, and crumpled, looked over newspapers all over with no patrons sitting there reading them. SO I chose a little table more towards the back, which happened to give you a birds eye view of the holy hell of a mess area where they keep, well everything it looks like! Nevertheless I've been in worst places, so I decided to not look in that direction while eating what I was sure was gonna be a good breakfast. The coffee was good to me, I'm not really a coffee connosiuer (sp?) so it was pretty decent as far as I know. The waitress came fast enough to take my order. While I was waiting for my food (which I'll get to in a minute, and I do mean a minute) a man who I presumed to be a manager or an owner that was sitting at the "reserved" table next to me, yelled out to someone behind the counter ( I couldn't see who because there is another weird column in the middle of the floor), then banged his hand on the table and jumped up, went behind the counter, snatched a cup up, noisily filled it with ice, and whatever drink he chose from the box and proceeded to bring it to a customer, who apparently must have been a regular that the manager guy thought had waited too long for his drink, then loudly scolded the waitress who was busy with her other 5 hands for not getting it fast enough. I had ordered a basic breakfast as I was now short on time and also the menu prices seemed pretty steep to me for just breakfast. Scrambled eggs and cheese, bacon and french toast. I knew I was in for it when my food came out in approxomately 2.5 minutes after I placed my order. The bacon was the best thing on the plate, appearance and taste wise. IF THERE IS ONE THING I HATE ITS A JOINT THAT DOESNT KNOW WHAT SCRAMBLED EGGS ARE!!! Don't bring me an egg omelete with two pieces of cheese that aren't even melted slapped on top! UGHHH, scrambled eggs with cheese are supposed to be SCRAMBLED together on a griddle with a fork to acheive fluffiness, with the cheese melted throughout the eggs. Unbelievable. The french taost, oh spare me. Two pieces of regular toast that had been placed on the griddle with butter to make them soft. No way was this supposed to pass for french toast. Not feeling like showing my "true colors" on a beautiful Friday morning, I ate what I could, drank my coffee, and asked for my check. I also begrudgingly gave the waitress a small tip, it's not her fault after all that the food in this place sucks, or at least the breakfast does. I sure as heck won't be back to find out about the rest of the menu!! The local's can have Jimmy's!!

went to jimmy's almost by accident when staying with a friend in fells point. great location after a night out on the town, and the perfect menu to hit the spot as well. we walked in around 11:30, sat down immediately at the counter (10ish minute wait for a table), quickly picked our dishes and were served within 5 minutes. i ended up with a cheesesteak omelette after debating between that and the breakfast burger. while i may never know if i made the right choice, it sure felt like i did - i've certainly never had a more delicious omelette. the coffee was also excellent, and certainly a step up from what i'm used to from nyc diners. service was attentive and friendly, but nothing spectacular. that said, you're probably not walking into this place expecting many frills. also, it's SO cheap! i will definitely be going back next time i find myself in the neighborhood.

There isn't a better breakfast spot within miles of Jimmys! I always get the scrapple because they cook it better than anyone else. Great prices and quick service. Coffee could taste better but you can't be perfect

Good solid diner food with very reasonable prices. It's noisy and crowded, but service moves quickly so they get people in and out. Much more kid friendly that a lot of the other options in the neighborhood, so a great stop for families touring around Baltimore. Everything we ordered was greasy, salty goodness, just like you'd expect -- though we did see couple of tables with nice fresh looking salads for those looking for a healthier option. Nothing fancy, nothing that will blow you away, just a good solid meal in a great location.

A no frills diner in the heart of Fells Point that hasn't changed much in 20 years (to its benefit). Breakfast is king here, with classic diner food served fast, cheap, and delicious! Expect to stand in line (although fast moving) if you arrive after 10am on the weekend!
