The In-laws came into town for a short stay and we were given a directive, they want Italian. Hmmmmm. In my humble opinion there are not a lot of great Italian places is Baltimore. If we want Italian, we go back home to Philly for the real deal, but I digress. I remember reading an article in the Sun about how this place revamped the menu and remodeled to be a little more new age. You, know trying to keep up with the joneses and not be "Old World Little Italy." What a novel concept. Looked up a couple reviews, saw a couple friend on Yelp that went in and off we went. Upon arrival we were greeted by a bunch of people. All were really nice and expressed how happy they were that we arrives. We were immediately seated and and a review of the menu was give. Small plates, meant to sort of share, all pasta was made in house, etc. All good stuff if you ask me. The bottle list was very reasonably priced as were the menu items. The menu was not a phone book of Italian items but it was a page of items where everything sounded good. We started out with a bottle of Pinot and of course some meats and cheese: the Bresaola, the asiago, and the antipasti plate. Oh man were all of these cured goodies solid. I highly recommend that antipasti plate. Awesome way to start a meal. I could have eaten 8 of those alone. God I love meats and cheeses. Anyone onto the main dishes. Everyone went with the special that night, homemade spaghetti and meat balls. Really great home made pasta with a fantastic pomodoro sauce. The meatballs were simple and tasty. I myself when with the calamari alla griglia and the Orecchiette pasta With Roma sausage and broccoli di rape. This was served in an olive oil and garlic sauce. The calamari was ok. It was very chewy to me and somewhat hard to eat. The Orecchiette was awesome. I added a little parm and chili flakes to it and we were ready to roll. I would definitely order it again. Overall this place was solid and I would definitely recommend checking this place out. If someone asks me where to head to for reasonably priced pasta dishes, I would definitely recommend Germano's. CIN CIN!

Nice ambience with interesting paintings, but also felt like a family-owned business, but also still felt very classy! The antipasto chef selection was a great assortment of cheese & vegetables. The branzino fish very tasty & crispy but still very juicy. The best though were the raviolis, maybe even the best I've ever had: got the beet ravioli and another dish of spinach ravioli. Cucumber-artichoke martini was great too!

I visited this restaurant when in town for the Expo East Convention back in September. Overall, it was extremely underwhelming food, service was poor & the ambience is very dark and stuffy. We went in a group of 8 people and we were seated right away as we had a reservation. It was nice that they were all setup and ready for us but that was where the preparation ended. The waiter seemed to not know the menu & had to return with answers to our questions about how dishes were prepared & their ingredients as people in our group had a number of allergies. He would then forget the question we asked and after his 3rd trip back to out table, we would ask what the answer to our questions were and he'd have to go back to the kitchen. The food wasn't the best but it was okay. The only memorable part of the meal was their cheese board served with different meats, olives & dried fruit. The drinks were weak where I had to ask the waiter if the drink was sitting waiting to be served because it was watered down. He informed me that it was just made. If you're in Baltimore near the conventions center, pick a different restaurant.

Loved this place! The BF's relatives came up from Silver Spring and we chose this place based on the reviews on Yelp. Party of four...we had appetizers, drinks (multiple jack daniels and wine), main entrees, and dessert for $200. Apps: Truffle Fries - good but I would have like to taste the truffle a little more Antipasti Plate - DELICIOUS! Nice variety. Comes with cheeses, roasted veggies, and meats Entrees: 2 of us got the beet ravioli...wow! Yelp didn't steer me wrong on this one. Did I mention I hate mushrooms? Not the flavor but the consistency. The sauce has mushrooms in it and I still loved it. The other person that ordered this said it was one of the best entrees he's ever had. Kobe meatballs with spaghetti - Meatballs were awesome and huge. The sauce is a little on the sweeter side but still good. Salmon special - The person that ordered this said it was perfectly cooked and seasoned well. She was very happy. Dessert: I can not remember the name of it to save my life but it was 3 cream puffs dipped in Belgian chocolate! To. die. for. Will definitely be coming back!

Cute restaurant; cute idea. For those who don't know... The restaurant rebranded itself in 2013 from trattoria to piattini (small plates, tapas like) to keep up with modern times. Bravo!! Food. Good. Some mishaps. My grilled calamari was tough and rubbery. The charred bread with bresaola could have been less carbon tasting. The meats/cheese were amazing, but in comparison to the menu, very expensive for what you get. Service. Our waitress was not so good. But a staff of others made up for her shortcomings. Atmosphere. We ate downstairs and came home smelling like old oil. Salt was served like ground pepper from _one_ cracker.... Making it difficult for a salt lover like me. And the silverware was AWFUL. Weird thing to mention, but when I can't cut with my knife....

Had the lobster ragu and some sausage broccoli pasta. The food was good, but honestly nothing really stood out. To quote another reviewer, "I wasn't disappointed, but can't quite say I was impressed either." I echo their exact sentiment. A fair warning though, that is the way I tend to think of most Italian restaurants. Usually they're pretty good, but not very often do they stand out. The service was great however, and they were really friendly and attentive. Also the plates on the table when we walked in were really cute. They do the bread and olive oil thing too.

Stopped in for lunch. Ordered the tartufo bianca pizza for my appetizer and my main course was orechette. Both were awesome. Great bread with olive oil to start. I left very satisfied. Definitely will be returning!

Don't believe the hype. My husband and I went there recently and the only thing we enjoyed was the free bread with their tasty olive oil concoction and their $5 French fries. As for the entrées....wink womp womp. One of us returned our meal and we just ended up sharing the $19 spaghetti and meatball entree, which was just okay. I give this restaurant two stars because I appreciate how gracious they were about us returning one of the meals. Thank you!

Very disappointing. Especially given the amazing reviews on here. This was my first experience of American Italian. My partner who lives there said in general it is very difficult to find half decent Italian food in the US, even in 'little Italy' districts. If this place is anything to go by, he's not wrong. I have given it two stars as it was good quality pasta. Certinly not made fresh, I would say frozen as opposed to just the dried variety so that's something. My dish was supposed to come with raabe (it came with chunky bottom bits of broccoli instead. Fair enough. It's not easy to get outside of Italy. Still shouldn't have been advertised as such). My italian sausage was actually some sort of ground pork. There must have been a lb of this on there. It was greasy and bland and o couldn't identify any kind of sauce, juice or taste the olive oil. Just fatty pork water. Our espresso was dark stale kurig style rubbish. Not Italian at all. Our 'gelato' was tonnes of icy vanilla ice cream. The cheap generic tastless stuff with no silkyness you can buy for a $2 at Walmart. It had clearly melted and been refrozen plenty as it was full of ice crystals. They were really nice, which is a shame. Just poor. Not recommended.

Remarkably mediocre for the price. Started out with stale bread with the antipasti. Bruschetta bread also stale. Lasagna below average with ground beef tasting old. Spinach ravioli not too bad but the pillows on the tough side of al dente.

Went with a friend on last Sunday for dinner. For one thing, this is meant to be a small-plate Italian restaurant. Each dish is small, meant for several to be ordered and shared by many. Inside of the restaurant is clean and nice. The service is pretty good. Price wise, each plate ranges from $10-15. (I would say order about two plates per person, three plates if you are super hungry). Tried the lobster pasta as well as the crab cakes, which were good, but nothing mind blowing. I wasn't disappointed, but can't quite say I was impressed either.

My husband had the beet ravioli and I had the lasagne and it was delicious! I wish they would give some type of bread or something with your meal, but other than that phenomenal!

I had dinner here with a group of 10 Saturday night - they couldn't have been more accommodating, and the food couldn't have been better. We benefited from the last night of the restaurant week menu, a relative bargain for a three course meal, and added on to that with some shared appetizers for the table. The grilled calamari was incredible, with a slight sear, tender, and a perfect amount of lemon. All of the food was beautifully presented and showed sincere care for the quality of the ingredients and preparation. Waitstaff were knowledgable and helpful, happy to explain anything to several dinners unacquainted with the courses in a real Italian menu, or many of the menu items familiar to a foodie only. I'm only sad that I can't be a regular since I don't live in Baltimore.

Lasagne con amore! (or Lasagne with love) My date & I lounged in at Germano's this past weekend. We were both bothered & hungry from our dreaded walk from our apartment. Being new to this area we went for the most homely restaurant in Little Italy, Baltimore. Germano's is mecca of true comfort food, no matter how they make it, their lasagne will make any bad day turn out just fine. So, forget that diet! If & when your in Baltimore it's always a good time to carb it up! If your fan of great service and Old fashioned Italian cuisines. Eat in style @ Germano's PIATINNI. Can I get a amen?

The grilled rock fish is super yummy! Strongly recommended. The waiter is patient and nice. The wine he recommended is great.

We visited Germano's on a whim. We needed a break after a long day of conferences. The moment we entered I loved the interior space because it reminded me of the trattorias I'd visited in Italy. Sitting by the window watching the day retreat into night was a very relaxing. The staff were very friendly, explained the menu, and made delicious recommendations. We ordered a variety of items and enjoyed every morsel. The spinach ravioli was heavenly, as was the lasagne. The bruschetta was yummy, but I added mozzarella, arugula and basil from my friend's salad to make it amazing. :). We enjoyed the wine pairings, finished with coffee and cappuccino, and had a very pleasant evening. Germano's will be on my list every time I visit Baltimore.

  • Mandi G.

Great service. Horrible food. As a jersey native, I admit I have high expectations for Italian cuisine but this was by far the worst Italian food I have had in the DMV. The breadbasket was below average. The arugula salad fresh but with a single piece of cheese. The artichoke antipasti was tasty but that's it. Kobe meatballs with spaghetti tasted like it was out of a can. The margharita pizzette was the absolute worst of the meal. It did not look or taste like pizza....more like some premade crust sprinkled with cheese. Frozen pizza tastes better! Definitely will not be back for more of Baltimore's 'little italy'.

    (1)
  • Dan R.

Their food was delicious and presented in the form of art! The beet ravioli and the cheese stuff pepper is out of this world! The Italian meat and cheese selection is great. Also, the atmosphere was elegant and peaceful! My wife and I felt that we were actually in a little town in Italy! I definitely recommend this place and I will be going back very soon!

Based on yelp feedback we ordered the beet ravioli, grilled peaches (suggested by the waiter, not yelp), the Tartufo Bianco and the Involtini Di pollo. It was two of us and this was plenty to share. Everything was very good and a unique preparation. It was a lovely day and we sat outside. Our waiter Richardo was great!

  • Lauren S.

This was actually my second time here. The first time everything was great. Service was fast and efficient. This time not so much. We sat at the bar and were tended to promptly. Got our drinks, then had to wait to place an order. Then it took--no joke--30 minutes (if not more) to get the food. Meanwhile everyone else got what they ordered super fast. Once we got the food it was good. However service here is really lacking. I won't be coming back.

We ended up in Baltimore on a Monday night and thought that we would try to Little Italy. This restaurant was ranked very well on yelp so it sounds like a great option. It was fairly empty so we sat in the bar and enjoy their house white and red wine. The cost was for 6 ounces each but they were not 6 ounce pours so that was a little bit of a surprise when we got the bill but the wine was good. Best thing on the menu for us was the lasagna. Melt in your mouth tender! Wonderful spices. Do not miss that if you go here.

Excellent meal, well priced. My companion had a beet ravioli (that I sadly did not get to try) that looked amazing. I had mussels, which were lovely. Service was excellent. I'd definitely go back. Viva Little Italy!

My birthday dinner was here and I'm so thankful that I did! Everyone was lovely and so kind. The waiter was checking up on us continuously, refilling our water and they weren't upset or trying to hurry us out since over half of our party was late for the reservation. The food was the very good Italian food, better than anything else that I've had in Baltimore. The ambiance was fantastic since we were seated right next to the door and could see people walking by and the breeze, it was very European. The interior is wood and you could see that there were loyal customers sitting at the bar just talking and eating. We lingered after dinner (eating birthday cake) when they came out with a complimentary birthday dessert!

We came here as group of four - my middle-aged mom, my teenage brother, my 10-year-old daughter, and my 34-year-old self. We found the place on Yelp and were very happy overall. The charcuterie was delicious (San Daniele prosciutto was excellent) and my linguine with clams was very yummy. My daughter had lasagne and enjoyed it, although she did say the pasta was a bit too soft for her liking. My brother had a pizza which was quite small (but accurately referred to as Pizzetta on the menu) and my had another pasta dish. For dessert I had the little pastry puffs which were good, not great, my brother had the tiramisu which was very flavorful, and my daughter had a scoop of gelato. Overall the food was excellent, but not out-of-this-world, to-die-for delicious. What did really stand out was the service. Our waitress was not only extremely friendly and attentive, but also very cute and smelled really good But the other servers were also friendly and helped out, working as a well-oiled team. When in Baltimore I will definitely return!

My family and I I took my cousin to Germano's Piattini for her 21st Birthday. The service was top notch, assistive but not clingy, friendly but professional. Decor was rustic old country and fit the ambience well. It was clearly romantic enough; as demonstrated by the middle aged couple's multiple steamy public and intense tonsil hockey matches directly across from us - Seriously folks get a room! Nobody else had the same self control issues though, so I don't think the place is a secret love den or something. We were just the random lucky recipients of a show. The food: Piattini refers to the small plate concept, similar to Tapas. It totally works here because you will want to try a variety of things. And you want to share and discuss. From the cucumber vodka gimlet cocktail, to the ravioli made with beet purée and served in a mushroom sauce, this restaurant does unique well and in ways that make you sit back and ponder. Every dish was well balanced flavor wise, with a variety of flavors and textures working every part of the pallet, but in a balanced, "in control" type of way. I'm not a huge sardine fan, but in the Caesar salad they worked and weren't overwhelmingly fishy. The Tartufo Bianco a small cheesy Porcini and Truffle pizza, was delicious. The Calamari was prepared very well, and tasted great! Kobe meatball and spaghetti were superb. The desserts, carry the sharing theme as well. The baked chianti pears were a delicious light dessert, the tiramisu was wonderful-especially served with a flamed candle for my cousin so we could sing happy birthday! Price wise it is very reasonable especially given the service and food. Dinner. cocktails and dessert averaged about 40.00 per person before tip. This place is a keeper! We already have plans to take some friends. I don't know what more to say.

The food is very good and the service was excellent. The decor is charming and we immediately felt at home. The menu, though, was a bit too eclectic. Since we were with our young children, it made for a difficult experience. To be fair, they do offer "kobe" meatballs and pasta. But the meatballs were not particularly good - and definitely not kid friendly. Adding spaghetti & meatballs would be a big plus.

Exceptional food and service. Vongole was the best I've had. Antipasto was also very nice. Waiter and bar tender really went out of their way to make us feel at home.

My fiancee and I went to Germano's last week for a final Baltimore Restaurant Week outing, and given that neither of us had either been to this Little Italy restaurant before, but had heard good things, we thought we would give it a try. Even for a Monday night, everything was on point. We enjoyed the exquisite prosciutto/cheese plate, a very reasonably priced bottle of Italian red, two excellent entrees. The server was very friendly and attentive, and we had a really great time for a very reasonable price. Would absolutely go back, and highly recommend to others looking for a good new place to try in Baltimore's Little Italy.

Just moved to the Baltimore area two weeks ago, and we decided to check out this place. We got there and it wasn't busy at all, which was really nice. We were seated right away in the newly renovated bar area which was very nice and contemporary. Fiancée got a glass of wine which was excellent, and we started with the Tartufo Bianco, which was a small pizza. It was fantastic. We then ordered the grilled stuffed pepper, grilled artichoke, and fried calamari. Everything was great, but the calamari was my favorite. Grilled artichoke was fiancée favorite. The service was fantastic, and the general manager made us drinks for being new to the area. It was a very nice touch to an affordable and tasty dinner.

The restaurant and Nicole are awesome! Our waitress, Nicole, was so friendly and helpful. She read my mind with her recommendations and was on point. We started with the tartufo bianco which was tasty, it was a small pizza with a strong goat cheese flavor and truffle butter topped with mushrooms. We also had the beet ravioli which was interesting because it had a sweet taste mixed with the salty flavor. We also had the Kobe meatballs which were delicious on top of spaghetti that was perfectly al dente. The table bread was soft and warm with a great oil and balsamic dipping sauce. Nicole went out of her way to help us figure out some activities we could do with the rest of our day. I would definitely come back!!

3.5 star! We came to Baltimore for July 4th. Little Italy was just a pleasant walk away from our hotel in inner harbor. I was planning to go to another Italian restaurant nearby, but it was closed due to the holiday. So I ended up step into Germano's. The well-known "beet ravioli" is a must-order item. I felt bad I only ordered the small portion since it was so yummu that even my carnivorous husband appreciated its rich and flavorful taste. Everything is small portioned, like tapas. So you can expect to order 3 or 4 items to share. Unfortunately, the prosciutto pizza was on a slight lukewarm side and the crust was hard to chew. I wish they could do better next time. I was about to ask the waitress about it, but gave up mentioning it. The baked zucchini was quite nice too, but the portion was petite. By the time of checking out, it took a while for me to get my change back, because my waitress was taking orders for the table next to us. I waited for her to recommend special dishes and went over the whole menu with the other customers. It would be better if she could just get the change back to me first and finish taking their orders.

Excellent! Great ambiance, fantastic service and even better food! I was talked into the red beet ravioli (because I don't like red beets) and It was one of the best ravioli dishes I have ever had. Savory with just the right amount of sweet. Thursday-Sunday they have live music and the band that played tonight was great. I would highly recommend this place!

As everyone has indicated, the beet ravioli it's excellent. Even if you don't like beets, you'll love this dish. Also had the Tartufo Bianco. Excellent! Staff was most pleasant. Highly recommended. Small intimate dinning room.

Warm smiles greeted our family as we stepped into the bar section of the restaurant. "A table for three?" and we were ushered to the cozy little dining room adjacent to the bar. A super sweet waitress walked us thru the menu, pointing out highlights. The winners for us were the pastas. We had the beet ravioli which was delish but the linguine with white clam sauce really blew me away. I'm not a big fan of ordering staple Italian dishes, but I was in the mood for clams and they did not disappoint. When the plate landed on the table, I casually grabbed a forkful of the linguine (without any clams) while trying to manage the little guy strapped to his high chair banging away at the bread basket (OMG focaccia) and was floored by how much clam flavor was in the pasta itself. I literally would've been satisfied with just a plate of THAT pasta because the flavors of the clams were so infused therein. Maybe it was a fluke, maybe the clam gods blessed the line cooks with a soupçon of Atlantic Ocean in the one plate of linguine with white clam sauce that they served me, but so be it, ignorance is bliss...I'll tell you where Morpheus, Neo, and the rest of the crew are if you'll just serve me that pasta again. No room for dessert, just a nice stroll into the Baltimore breeze winding its way thru the neighborhood.

Germano's new "small plates" menu is absolutely delicious, having ate there before the menu changed I was skeptical, but holy cow they did it right! I give them kudos for the excellent choices and execution, nothing was left on any of our plates and there was a party of 13 of us! -------------- Back story: I was planning a bachelorette party for a good friend and I thought Germano's would be a great place to have dinner and maybe see the cabaret show or do a pasta making lesson. So, I scheduled a meet and greet with the owners to see if it was something we would be interested in. Cyd and Germano were the nicest people I have ever met in my entire life, they were so willing to accommodate us in any way! They even told us all about the renovations they have done recently and keeping the historic integrity of the space. It looks great! Anyway, Cyd let me peak in and see the cabaret show that was currently going on, it was very quaint and intimate and not what I had originally expected, I didn't think it would fit the night of a bachelorette party because we might want to be a little more loud than what might have been appropriate in the show. However, the music was great, and I highly recommend it for a romantic evening or even with a small group of friends. I might try to go see a show there in the future! Germano also offers pasta making lessons for $17 a person and you get a bowl of pasta at the end. They also said they could offer wine tastings if interested. After much debate, I ended up just booking the private dinning area for the 13 of us for dinner. It was perfect! We had 3 or 4 people waiting on us, so we were never thirsty or without anything we needed. The wine was priced very fairly, we got 4 bottles in the $18-$25 range. The small plates are anywhere from $4-$12. EVERYONE was buzzing about how delicious everything was, we ended up passing around all the plates till everything was devoured! IT WAS SO GOOD. And our bill was not that expensive at all. I call that a win, win! Beet ravioli was on point (I don't even think I like beets, but it didn't really taste beety), so were the meatballs, I actually don't think there was one thing that I wouldn't recommend. Excellent food!

Great. I'm not one for spending a lot on a nice restaurant. I'm more of a fast food and Chinese delivery guy, but this place kinda made me see why people shell out a few extra bucks for fine dining. The waiter was talkative, but I was actually interested in what he was saying. He explained that you order a bunch of things and share them and knew a lot about the food. I'd go again if this wasn't my going away dinner.

This place surprised me. We had the lamb and salmon dish for dinner. The lamb was cooked as requested paired with delicious risotto. The salmon with vegetables were made to perfection. I will definitely go back again.

We've been to a handful of restaurants in Little Italy, and Germano's is by far our favorite. Our waitress for the evening, Nicole, was incredibly helpful in regards to recommendations on both food and wine, and made sure that we were well taken care of. The restaurant is split between a bar area and a small dining room. When we walked in, we found someone slicing fresh charcuterie right in front of us. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and seems equally appropriate for a romantic date night or for a dinner with friends. We started with the tartufo bianco, and enjoyed it immensely. The pizzette was light and not too oily, and the flavors combined well. We then got a handful of small plates to split. The caesar salad was delightful, and the dressing in particular was top-notch. the Gnocchi e Gamberi was very rich, but not overpowering, and both the gnocchi and shrimp were cooked perfectly. The Peperone Ripieno is always a fantastic choice, and did not disappoint this time - the balsamic vinegar matches wonderfully with the richness of the ricotta and the bright, slight sweetness of the pepper. Finally, the fresh beet ravioli was delicious, the sauce was tasty and the mushrooms served as an excellent complement. We had already made other dessert plans so we did not get to test out that particular menu, but we fully intend on coming by for drinks and dessert some evening soon. If you're looking for someplace to take a date or want to share some small plates with a group, you can't go wrong with Germano's.

The format & menu were updated in late 2013. The result: Delicious! Great service and delicious food. The new format in which food items are served in smaller portions allows for more variety and a really fun dining experience. However, variety is nothing without quality. The quality here is exceptional! Don, the general manager, suggested items such as the long stem artichokes, grilled calamari, octopus and sauteed broccoli. All were fantastic. The flavor and texture of the food was top notch. Nothing was overcooked. The calamari was the BEST I've had in years (and I used to work at a seafood plant). The restaurant has two floors. The ground floor has a good sized bar with tables and a small, cozy dining area next to it. The 2nd floor has two large dining areas. Both are very nice and can handle large groups if needed. One of the dining rooms also has a piano and can accommodate live music as well. Staff were courteous, knowledgeable and provided great suggestions for menu selections. BONUS: We were staying at a hotel in the inner harbor area and the restaurant sent a van to pick us up and take us back to our hotel as a courtesy for FREE! Is that great service or what! Overall, Germano's Piattini is a really nice place to eat in Baltimore. Give it a try, we all loved it. Can't wait to return.

Little Italy in Baltimore was walking distance from our hotel, so the choices were endless. Based on all the reviews and a recommendation we focused on Germano's. Not only does it have a delightful and warm bar area, it has a very separate and warm dining room. As we were the only ones there due to an icy night, this was perfect! Don't let the "small plates" make you turn away- it was just right and allowed for much more mindful eating and enjoying all they have to offer. My appetite was whetted by the description of the food by our server who was a chef herself and clearly passionate about food. We had a lovely 3 oz glass of Chianti. We started with speck (which literally melted in our mouth) and Pecorino which were the perfect pair. This was followed by a twisted Caesar salad which was romaine lettuce which had been grilled, long grilled croutons, thin slice of Parmesan and a blood orange vinaigrette-so delightful. My husband had the lollipop lamb (which was a special with a homemade fruit sauce - he said they were perfect and the flavors were unexpected and among the best he has had. I had the special ravioli which was homemade with mascarpone as part of the filling and pumpkin on the side all I can say is it was fabulous! We then had room to share a peach Panna Cotta which had been made by our server. This was a lovely end to our dinner. When we are in Baltimore the next time, we will be having another dining experience here.

Food was AMAZING and service was beyond great. We are in for a conference and found out they have shuttle service. The driver turned out to be the restaurant founder himself, Mr. Germano. He showed us around and gave dinner suggestions. Wonderful experience!

5 stars for service, food and price. This place is has a romantic ambiance but is also casual enough to hang out with friends and try some delicious small plates. Their food was excellent to say the least. We tried the antipasti plate which included grilled vegetables, a potato and cheese fritter, goat cheese, olives and some grilled baguette. It was all delicious. Every item on the plate had it's own flavor. The fritter was even a bit sweet. They came out with some focaccia bread too with oil and balsamic to dip which was warm and amazing. We then tried the small portion of lasagna and we both loved the taste of the meat sauce. It wasn't overly cheesey it was perfect. Last we had the beet raviolis. The center was filled with a beet cream blend and the sauce was like a marsala sauce. It was also amazing. The flavor of each dish was awesome and the size was perfect for two people to share. We tried the tiramisu for dessert and we were not blown away but still thought it was pretty good. Their small plates range from $8-22. Their wine and cocktails are also very reasonable. We got a bottle of wine to share and we loved it as well. The service was great. Nobody bothered us we were able to sit and hang out as long as we wanted. The bartender also gave us great recommendations. We will be back as soon as we can!

Took a risk scheduling a business lunch at Germano's for my first visit and was not disappointed. I would say the other good reviews have it spot on. A lot of the menu appears to be excellent while there -may- be a few weak spots. I'm basing my star rating off of my food experience alone since I don't trust the tastes of my coworkers. Our meal included... Warm Focaccia & EVOO (complimentary) - An institution at any good Italian restaurant. I didn't ask if they made the bread in house but based on the excellent flavor I would bet they do. The EVOO has a hint of lemon that makes it extra tasty. Truffle & Parsley Patate Fritte - Everyone at the table gobbled these fries up. Perfectly seasoned and the often overused truffle oil was applied appropriately. Very delicious! Wicked Caesar - The dressing and croutons that came with this along with the parmesan slices were very tasty. The leafy part of the romaine was a bit tough to cut through. I've never had grilled romaine before though so not sure if this is par for the course. I would eat this again, but probably would try a different salad next time. Beet Ravioli - I ordered this based on previous Yelp recommendations and I'm glad I did. The texture of the housemade pasta was spot on and the sauce was heavenly. Our client ordered this behind me and I could tell from the sounds he was making that he enjoyed it as well! Grilled Artichoke - Our client ordered this and remarked that it was excellent. He crushed the plate quickly. Orrechiette - One of my coworkers ordered this and said it was too salty and bitter. I can't comment as I didn't try it myself. This could boil down to a matter of personal taste, so take with a grain of salt. Lasagna (small) - My other coworker ordered this and didn't like it. He said it was soggy and greasy. Again, I didn't try this so I can't comment and may have been a matter of personal taste. I'm not demoting my rating based on my co-workers opinions simply because I find it so hard to believe based on the quality of what I enjoyed that their entrees were as poor as they say. I will be back, hopefully to enjoy some music and drinks. When I do I will be sure to order one of the dishes in question so I can report back and give a final determination on quality from the perspective of someone who is passionate about well made food. For now I must offer a wholehearted recommendation! Also of note, we spoke with the very friendly owner on the way out who mentioned that they have been open since 1978 and that the recent menu change has alienated a few of his older clientele who are still expecting giant portions of pasta. I must applaud his resolute efforts to appeal to a more modern palate and I certainly wish him the best of luck!

All the 5-star yelp reviews are spot-on. Here on business for the week and will definitely return. Tonight we had a business dinner with 4 very distinctive palates; all four meals drew raves: a creamy cilantro lobster risotto; a grilled vegetable antipasti plate (beets, spinach, carrots, zucchini); and a mushroom and goat cheese pizza. All *remarkable* and in a great ambiance to boot. Very well priced and also several vegetarian and gluten-free options--which is why I will be returning with a Celiac. First-rate. Highly recommended.

First of all, our waiter Christian was awesome. Very knowledgeable and his recommendations were right on point. The beet ravioli is a must try. The gnocchi was melt in your mouth perfection. The tag bianchi pizza was excellent. Tagliatelle pasta was super fresh and tasty. Bongo bongo dessert was a great finishing dessert. Seriously, probably in my top ten meals of all time.

I enjoyed going here - I love the fact that you can go to dinner and see a show. The service was excellent and the wait staff were very knowledgeable about the menu. It's got a great atmosphere and the food was great. My only complaint is that we booked tickets to a specific show and the show wasn't exactly as advertised, although it was good. It was advertised as a Christmas shop, but the performer sang very little Christmas music (I think he wasn't told that it was supposed to be a Christmas show). He was great though and went around and talked to most of the tables after the show. I would definitely go back there.

If you haven't tried the new Germano's, make plans to go. I'm always hesitant about Little Italy restaurants - most seem to cater to downtown/Harbor East tourist traffic and don't care much about food. They don't have to depend on repeat business from locals and don't really seem to care. A friend recommended I try the new incarnation as Piatiini ("small plates" in Italian). Two of us decided to get some nice wine and just leisurely choose from menu items. We first chose the stuffed pepper, a mild pepper (don't remember the type) filled with ricotta and asiago and lightly fried. It was served over a spoonful of reduced white balsamic vinegar. The pepper and cheese were mild. The balsamic added a nice depth of flavor. Next came a pair of grilled long-stem artichokes. Another good choice. Simple, clean flavor. After taking a break we decided to split a salad. Our server recommended the beet salad. I love beets, but seem to see some sort of beet appetizer on too many menus. I really enjoy grilled Romaine, so was going to order the "twisted Caesar", Our server suggested again that we should go with the beets, so I agreed. Good choice. This was the standout of the evening. The salad consisted of diced beets, mixed greens, strawberries, red onion and goat cheese. The dressing, I think, was a strawberry vinaigrette. The flavor was fresh and bold and the ingredients all worked well together. I wanted to continue with small plates, but we opted to get a couple of pasta dishes. The kobe meatballs can be ordered as a small plate or served over pasta for an entree. I didn't taste them, but was told they were very good. I wanted just simple spaghetti with clams. This was an excellent one. Pasta was cooked perfectly, lots of flavorful small clams, the right amount of sauce and garlic. Prices were reasonable, service was good. Definitely want to head back to try other items, especially the octopus salad and the white anchovies.

We have been twice to the Cabaret at Germano's, and each time, we enjoyed the updated menu, great music, and low cover charges. The updated menu is terrific. Some not-to-miss items are the mussels, the white truffle mushroom pizza, and the orecchiette pasta with broccoli rabe and sausage. The meatballs were great too. The service can be slow during the show, but the food is great, and the atmosphere was terrific. The owners really want this place to succeed and appeal to a wide audience. I would encourage anyone to enjoy a leisurely night out with some lovely music from top notch acts.

My review should have been 4.5 stars but unable to apply it on my phone. This is a hidden gem in Little Italy, have not been here before and the menu is not generated for the commercialized Italian foods like the other restaurants around the area. I'm surprised to find out that this restaurant participates in the Farm to Table concept which is awesome of course. The lighting for the place is good, since our reservation is for lunch time we were seated on the 1st floor on the high chairs near the bar, seats are comfortable but you need to be careful for sudden movements or if you had too much to drink. Speaking of drinks, the Peach cobbler martini is awesome. Our server was really helpful and attentive. They have a good nice wine list, not too expensive; nice and affordable. For starters we got the anti pasti plate (chef's choice) ours came with goat cheese, thinly sliced and rolled zucchini with carrot, artichokes, green/black olives, sugar beets and broccoli rabe. The goat cheese was awesome, rolled veggie and artichokes is the bomb! Even the guys loved the veggies. Truffle fries with parsley was tasty but it doesn't taste like it was freshly cut that morning. The prosciutto they have is a definitely must have. We also got the cured beef which is tasty especially with the oil/vinegar drizzle on top. And the free bread especially the focaccia with tomato on top were made on site; the olive oil dipping sauce is of good quality. Of Course thanks to my fellow yelpers I got the beet ravioli which came with fresh tomatoes and mushroom for the sauce; and its worth trying. We also had the mushroom pizza, the dough taste good which made the difference but it was a personal size one. My other friend got the kobe meatball spaghetti which he said was a tad dry for the meat. I think it tasted okay has good flavor and was still moist. The fresh tomato sauce is authentic and not sour side at all. And I got a free vanilla and chocolate gelato with candle on top! Its rare to come across something for free nowadays when you eat out even on your birthday. Good quality food with reasonable price; and they have the same menu for lunch if I forgot to mention that! Will be back again. Try again and don't be intimidated, they also have small plates/portions. Yummo!

From the moment I walked in we were instantly greeted and seated, the staff was super friendly. For meals my bf and I ordered a few dishes to share, everything was excellent. I would highly recommend the beet ravioli if you like earthy foods. Plus they have a great wine menu! Definitely returning.

I came here on the recommendation of my roommate and was blown away by how good it is. My mom and I tried the Gamberi e Fagioli (grilled shrimp), beet ravioli, Peperone Ripieno (stuffed pepper), Insalata Rossa (beet salad), poached pear, and strawberries in balsamic vinegar & sugar. The most amazing were the beet ravioli and stuffed pepper. The stuffed pepper has ricotta cheese which I usually hate, but this was not like any ricotta I've had before. If you eat here and don't order both of these, you're a fool! The desserts were just okay, but that's the worst thing I can think of to say about this place. Service was also great- needs were anticipated and great suggestions made. This is now on my list of top Baltimore restaurants.

In town on business and a colleague and I went to this place after seeing the other reviews on Yelp. This place is great. So far, one of the best meals I've eaten. This is a very quaint and cozy restaurant in Little Italy that has a really warm atmosphere. I really liked the decorations. We arrived around 6:30 in a Friday evening, which was early since we were currently the only ones there. Out server was Ignacio, who was very polite and knowledgable on the menu items and specials. As for the food, this is mainly a small plate venue. There are large main entree plates, but to get the best and most out it is to order several small plates and share with your party. The menu is also very friendly for vegetarians and people with gluten and peanut allergies. I ordered the Insalata di Rucola (arugula salad with Fuji apples). It was a huge salad that was delectable to the last bite. I also ordered the Torta di Granchio (crab cake). It was a decent size and served with an arugula lemon pesto. Also delicious. I then ended with Tartufo Bianco (goat cheese, fontina mushrooms, porcini dust, & truffle oil mini pizza). WOW. When it came out it, the aroma of it is almost enough, but it was absolutely wonderful. I really want to go back to this place to try the other dishes. They also provide complimentary bread served with EVOO and a splash is balsamic vinaigrette. My colleague had ordered olives and ravioli. That's another thing. There menu also has a cheese, meats, and olives selection. As for price, it's moderately priced and worth it. The managers/owners came to check on us and see how we were. They were very friendly. I will be coming back to this place. They also have a cabaret venue upstairs so that seems orrery interesting as well.

2nd time here and u cant find anything bad to say about the service or the food! I am not a huge fan of Italian food but everything here is crazy good! From the bread to the lasagna. Reasonably priced glasses of wine also. My wife is more of a foodie and this is her favorite Italian place.

(not w/ cabaret) Ignacio was our waiter. Loved him! So attentive, but not overly so that you can't even enjoy dinner. Restaurant week. I don't know why most of the items were on BOTH the $20 and $30 menus. Was the $30 meal bigger? It should have clearly stated the difference on the MENU.... Bread before meal: Soft, crusty, w/ olive oil and balsamic vinegar - very good!! Appetizers: Mushroom bruschetta: BIG portion, mushrooms cooked well, flavorful! BEST choice! Mixed olives: too much sodium, couldn't finish the dozen plus olives alone Cubanelle pepper: Cheesy inside was so good. Pepper reminded me of banana pepper taste. (2nd favorite) Entrees: Beet ravioli: stuffing was 'beety' and cheesy, great combination, tomatoes and mushrooms in sauce were great Risotto: Friend needed salt... but it was apparently cooked well, i.e. not slimy :) Dessert: Bongo Bongo: SUPER SWEET CHOCOLATE - not recommended unless you're into condensed sugar Poached Pear: Yummy! Wine infused yummm

We were in Baltimore on business and chose Germano's PIATTINI based on the Yelp ratings. Unknowingly to us, there was a cabaret performance upstairs, which we attended with a nominal cover charge. Suffice it to say, it was a most enjoyable surprise. The food great (read the other reviews about this). The cozy, friendly environment with excellent music provided for an unforgettable experience. Gary Rubin sang Sinatra and other old-time favorites and he was accompanied by famed Baltimore pianist Brent Hardesty. Kudos to Cyd Wolf, the Executive Producer at Germano's. I will most definitely return.

I don't know how many times we try to give Little Italy a chance and end up being so disappointed. I had pretty much sworn off Little Italy. But then my boyfriend read a review in Style magazine for Germano's and thought we would give Little Italy yet one more chance... we are so glad we did. Our server was so nice, funny and just generally a happy person. He quickly put is in a good mood (we were grumpy from horrible commutes coming home). This is a small plates restaurant now, but some dishes are still full plating. The salads for example are normal size. We had the grilled artichokes, fried pepper, broccoli rabe, white sardines, cacciucco and tartufo bianco pizza. All the food was very good and modernly conceived. We had a pleasant meal and would easily go back again. If only more restaurants in Little Italy would revamp their menus to be more modern...

High Hopes with poor performance. I ordered the ravioli, mussels, grilled artichoke, and mushroom pizza. First, the bad: the mussels were almost uneatable. They were salty as the ocean and tasted like there were on the verge of giving me food poisoning. The grilled artichoke was eatable, but not good. The focaccia that came with it was actually much better than the artichoke itself. Maybe the fried artichoke would have been better. The mushroom pizza was good. It was rich with mushrooms and truffle oil. The cheese was smooth and warm. I would recommend that the dish needs more texture--like a crunchy crust, but overall it was good. The ravioli was the best. The filling and sauce were amazing and I sopped up every last bit of it. The pasta was a bit al dente. This was the highlight of the entire meal. If I could erase the memories of the prior dishes and only concentrate on this dish I would give this restaurant 4.5 stars. The waitress was nice, but was understaffed and over-rushed. Her descriptions of the dishes were embelleshed, but many servers do that. I wouldn't return here; the mussels shouldn't have left the kitchen. They were bad.

My wife, Sharon, and I have enjoyed the food at Germano's and have been charmed by Germano for more than 30 years. His traditional Italian dishes of years past almost always were excellent but his new piattini menu is a delicious answer to changing tastes without giving up Italian roots. We had a fine meal there Saturday, our third taste of the new menu. Great service, as always, and fine wine. Even after all these years, it is more than a treat to go to Germano's.

Amazing authentic Italian food for reasonable price! By far the best in Little Italy, you can just tell everything is homemade- some other places taste like they got their sauce out of a jar. You have not lived till you have had their tartufo bianco and beet ravioli. Although everything on the menu is good, these two are unique and my favorites. Overall great food and GREAT people!

My meal was scrumptious! We started off with the artichokes drizzled with a balsamic glaze, to die for! The olive tray featured an assortment of tasty olives, they were a great accompaniment to the bread. The beet raviolis I ordered were amazing. The service was spot on, my water glass was never empty. My friend said her pork dish was the tastiest and the most tender pork she has ever had. I really want to come back again.

The staff was wonderful and very welcoming and the restaurant itself was quaint I attended a cabaret show and enjoyed the entertainment . However, the food was just ok I didn't think the prices were bad except that what I got wasn't really worth the money I paid next time I go I will stick to the wine and entertainment

I picked this restaurant because of it's excellent reviews as my wife and I were looking for authentic Italian dining. The food was Ok but far from anything I ever ate in Italy. We started with Asiago cheese and prosciutto. The cheese was Ok, but very small portion- the prosciutto was good quality. Then we had Insalata di Polpo (octopus salad). Tip #1: Don't serve warm octopus on cold salad, this is traditionally a cold dish. Also, there was only a thin veneer of octopus. Next up, Grilled calamari. Ok not bad tasting, but not really a grilled plate. Tip #2: Don't serve a grilled dish in a pool of oil. Basically the calamari was served in a deep dish half filled with olive oil. Calamari off the grill should be hot and a bit crunchy in places, maybe a spritz of olive oil and lemon. Lastly, we had a small pizza. It was quite tasty, the crust was thin and crunchy and the topping had a great balance. Overall, the service was good, the waiter prompt and friendly and our food arrived right on time. So, I'm a bit picky having just returned to the States after living abroad for 9 years. Tip #3: If you are going to call yourself an Italian restaurant, pick a region and cook like they do- simple, elegant, tasty. Watch the movie, Big Night and you'll get my drift.

Came back for the first time in 8 years last Friday- blown away. This is incredible italian food, and at prices that won't blow the bank. You can tell Germano is someone who is an artist first, businessman second. His heart and soul was put into the relaunch of the restaurant and it shows. Outstanding.

Excellent! We stopped in for the extended restaurant week. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. The food was fantastic! I ordered off a $20 version of the restaurant week menu. For $20, I had an amazing arugula salad, meyer lemon risotto with butter poached lobster, and profiteroles. My friend was also pleased with her choices from the $30 menu. Do yourself a favor: get the wild mushroom pizzette and the arugula salad - top the pizzette with the salad. You're welcome. I'm definitely coming back!

Very nice restaurant. The waiter was very nice and He went over the menu. Because is restaurant week We had the choice of three menus (regular menu/ 3 course for $20 and another 3 course for $30) they should improve the sparkling wine menu. Only cheap stuff that you can get at the supermarket for half price. But the food was good and since we sat outside we had a wonderful time. We will go for dinner again next time we are in the area.

Is the perfect place for having the perfect dinner for those who really appreciate italian food and great great service. Me and a friend came for first time last month(june). We had another trip for this week, not including Baltimore and we decided to make a Stop in Baltimore just to have dinner in this place. We had the Beet Ravioli(delicious) and the Lamb Chops, they were great!! The waiters are awesome, know the menu very well, know service and enjoy doing it. I really don't remember his name, we went last night, but our waiter was from China, Japan or Vietnam, or one of those places, small guy, short hair, I don't know, but he's the best waiter ever. We were so happy of his service that we are still talking about. If you go, ask for the waiter with that description for sure, you will see him. And if you see this review, hey man!! you are the Best, Thank you!!

My family and I had an early Mother's Day dinner here and it was just lovely (and I don't often use that word). Granted, we were one of two tables (we were there for "linner," if you will), but the service was great and our server was very attentive. I got the patate fritte to start (french fries w/ garlic & sea salt)...so noms and plenty to share. For my main course I had one of the specials, I believe it was some sort of crab ravioli... very, very good. My brother tried the crab cake, which wasn't done the usual Maryland crabcake way, but he really enjoyed it. My mom had the beet ravioli and it was so, so good. I am not usually a fan of beets and not adventurous with my food at all, but I remember her dish more than my own, and that's saying something. I will definitely be back!

We stopped in here for drinks while we were killing time in Little Italy. Although we only ordered drinks the staff was very friendly and the ambiance was very casual. Next time I'm in the area I will definitely try the food there.

Tapas style dishes. Excellent for sharing. Beet ravioli was delicious. Unique tiramisu - incredible. Excellent service, good recommendations and nice location in Little Italy. Very reasonably priced.

This place is a little slice of heaven! When We went there on a Thursday night the dining room was empty and We were a little nervous. After reading all the reviews we had to give it a try. The service was wonderful and the food was amazing! Order a few things because the plates are very small. Try the grilled artichokes, they are phenomenal. The Kobe beef meatballs were also amazing! And I loved the seafood stew. We will certainly come back during our next Baltimore visit!

The new small plates menu is wonderful! My friends and I were delighted with our meal. Being out-of-towners, we stumbled upon it by chance during happy hour and were happy to take advantage of the wine special- $4 a glass! We each had two small plates- no more than $9 per plate- and were quite happy. We had broccoli rabe, two types of risotto, squash ravioli, grilled Caesar salad, artichokes, croquettes, meatballs and dessert, and everything was good!! The best part? With tip, we each spent just over $30!! They restaurant also had nice ambiance- a little fancier, but still relaxed. I will go back next time I'm in Baltimore... Be sure to check it out!

Absolutely fabulous! I have never been to the inner harbor before, but am currently visiting for a conference. My colleagues and I decided to discover the Little Italy part of town. We stumbled a upon this gem, and had quite a lovely dinner. Although we were the only people there, the service was kind and quick, food delicious and wine selections superb. Not the most high end food over ever had, but I was pleased. Plus(!) if you make it before 7:00, select glasses of wine cost only $4!! If you like dry and robust, I recommend the chianti :) totally affordable dishes with all homemade pastas and bread. Fresh ingredients and perfectly sized portions. I highly recommend!

I've been meaning to write this review for months. Came here with my fiancé for my 30th birthday. Picked this place because of the live music and wasn't diapppointed. Marcus Dagan plays every Wednesday I think and I don't know why more people aren't seated upstairs to listen to him, he's pretty great. Our service was wonderful but I wouldn't expect anything less being there were only a few tables taken. Had the antipasto it is all warm vegetables with some cheese, olives, beets and a potato croquette. Very good but I'm not a beet fan. We shared the lasagna and pasta with kobe meatballs, it was good. Will be back.

Wonderful service. Interesting and unique dishes. Enjoyed 3 appetizers recommended by the waiter (artichoke, cures meats, & margarita pizza). The beet ravioli is a signature dish and was excellent.

What a fun night! We went for David deBoy's "Crabs for Christmas" show and had a great time. The food was good and the service was wonderful. The biggest hit on the menu was the grilled artichoke. Perfectly seasoned and cooked.

We have been meaning to try the new and improved Germanos for a while. Tonight we finally made it for happy Hour. The new space is beautiful. It feels very modern, comfortable and warm. We split a few small plates. Each of which were absolutely delicious. I had the special, which was crispy chicken over a sweet potato risotto. so good! The service was excellent. Very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this place and plan to come back again.

Had a great Restaurant-Week lunch with a friend. The food was exceptional, as was our server, Ann. Ann was friendly and helpful - spot on with the beet and arugula salad. We will return.

We knew we wanted to have dinner in Little Italy, but were reluctant to go to one of the bigger, traditional places. We read that Germano's specialized in Tuscan fare, and small plates, so we decided to throw in with them. Excellent call! By ordering two happy hour cocktails and two glasses of wine all at once, just prior to the end of happy hour, we got our pre-dinner and dinner drinks for a total of $22. We brought our four-year-old with us, and they fawned over her. They brought us a half-size serving of spaghetti, a half-size portion of meatballs, extra sauce, and a tiny free scoop of homemade raspberry sorbet for dessert. They also had great, unique coloring placemats that she really loved. We are foodies who travel extensively, and loved the food. We had the bresaola and speck for appetizers, then the beet ravioli, fried artichokes, truffle pizza, and octopus three ways for dinner. All were exceptional (though adding salt to the pizza took it from good to truly great). The service was wonderful--warm, attentive, thoughtful, and speedy. Every request was honored, despite it being a very busy Saturday night. We tipped 30% in gratitude. If you are looking for a restaurant in Baltimore's Little Italy that stands out for its excellence, its refusal to take the easy/predictible way out, and its insistent dedication that you have a delicious and creative meal served with warmth and attention to details, then Germano's is the place for you.

We entered the restaurant and had no idea where to go and it was very empty--not the best start. However our waitor was really enthusiastic (maybe too much so but it wasn't too weird) and had good suggestions. The cocktails were really great and the descriptions were spot on. The pasta we each had was just ok, not the best I've had! The salads and grilled veggies were both great though. It was an alright experience but I plan to try other places in Little Italy before returning.

I came here last night with my boyfriend to sample their fixed price menu as part of restaurant week. What drew us was the vegan menu, specifically set aside and listed online. I am vegetarian but he's not, so going out to eat can be tricky. However, we were incredibly satisfied with our meal. We walked in and were initially caught off guard as the restaurant was nearly empty, a bit odd considering it was about 7PM on a Thursday. We decided to stay and are very glad we did. Our server, Lisa, was absolutely delightful. She knew the menu extremely well and gave us excellent recommendations to help us with our dietary restrictions. The food itself was delicious. Lisa told us the new small plates menu was new, but the size of the plate did not affec the quality or taste of the dishes. Everything we had was incredibly enjoyable. From the wild boar charcuterie and red beet mascarpone ravioli (his) to the spaghetti with peppers, vegan pizza, and mixed olives (mine). We are definitely coming back!

Walked in on a Wednesday afternoon in September at 4 pm, sat at the lower level wine bar and ordered from antipasti menu with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Met the namesake owner and his wife, Cyd, both wonderful and very down to earth people. The bartender and my waitress were also very friendly and helpful. My meal: Carciofi alla Griglia (grilled artichokes, olio d'oliva, vin cotto), and Grilled Peaches (wrapped in prosciutto and rosemary in a balsamic reduction). These were both excellent. The artichokes were perfectly grilled, toothsome and lightly dressed so that classic artichoke flavor could shine. The grilled peaches were amazing, and with the Sauvignon Blanc it was so delicious. Great service. Great people. Great food. They are participating in a fun street art festival in October, called Maddonari Street Painting Festival 2015. Check it out!

M and I wanted to try Joe Benny's but there was a 2-3 hour wait... So we found this restaurant on Yelp with 4.5 stars nearby and decided to eat here instead. At first we were doubtful because on a Friday evening it was very empty. But our doubts were soon cleared away because their food is awesome! M got the creamy gnocchi - I've never had such soft gnocchi in my life!! I usually don't like them because I find them too dry but not here. I got the linguine with lobster sauce and that was delightful as well. There is something special about their noodles. I still want to try Joe Benny's but this place is a solid backup. Jk I would come back!

Amazing Italian food!!! Was able to get food at 10 pm on a Saturday night when not too many restaurants in the area are open or serving food anymore, and am I glad we went here! I had the spaghetti with clams and the tomato sauce and it was to die for. The sauce was full of flavor like it's been cooking for a couple days and the clams were tender and not chewy and also plentiful! They had spinach and ricotta stuffed ravioli in a sage butter sauce for special that night; the noodles were the perfect al Dente and the flavors were perfectly savory and seasoned just right. The alcohol is reasonably priced and they will give you free bread with olive oil if you ask for the bread! Our waitress was very sweet and attentive too! I would definitely come back here to try the other dishes!

As my fellow Yelpers have mentioned, the tartufo bianco pizza and the parmesan truffle fries are wonderful! All of the pizzas on the menu are personal size and tend to be very cheesy. The tartufo bianco had a very pungent mushroom taste, so if you're not a fan of funghi, you probably want to order something else but I personally loved it. Definitely not your average fast food pizza joint pizza. Germano's is a tapas style restaurant, where they have many small plates that you can order and share. They also have separate entrees (bigger versions of the small plates) that you can order. My friends and I just got separate dishes, which was more than enough food for us. Compared to some of the other restaurants in Little Italy, Germano's Piattini stood out a little more due to its dining concept as well as a menu that seemed to have more diversity than the typical Italian dishes. The restaurant was also surprisingly big with lots of different rooms - all with great decor and paintings. The staff was also very friendly and brought us as much bread and olive oil as we wanted. Some of the bread was foccacia style topped with some roasted tomatoes - scrumptious! It did take a little time for us to get the check but besides that I had no issues.

Just ordered take out during the Friday movie night in Little Italy. Was so quick (less than 15 minutes), close (a block away) but best of all the manager was super nice and food was delicious! The prociutto, tartufo bianco and beet ravioli were all perfect.

Germano's Piattini came as a highly recommended restaurant in Baltimore's Little Italy district. I can understand why. It was excellent! Germano's was about a five block walk from out hotel. A pleasant walk, even in an evening mist. We had made reservations, and I would recommend doing so. The Piattini refers to their signature small plates. I'm still not clear on this concept. The mains were very satisfying. (They are not heaping portions as some Italian restaurants in the USA can be.) One side of the menu features selections of Salumi, Cheeses, and Olives. The other side is a more traditional menu. We did order a Mixed Olive select as an appetizer. Then, we both went for a Twisted Caesar salad. But, for our mains, I ordered Spaghetti Vongole (spaghetti with clams) and my wife the Beet Ravioli. (I tried a bit of that, one of their signature dishes The beets were a unique flavor.) My spaghetti with clams was delicious! As I said, just a perfect amount of food. We sat upstairs in the 200 year old, albeit remodeled, building, overlooking the street. The staff was most pleasant and attentive Highly recommended.

This is my favorite Little Italy restaurant, and I don't state that lightly. I've been to all of them, some fantastic (La Tavola, Joe Benny's) and others are living off their hype (Chiaparellis). I can say though that as of 2014, this is the best place on the street. Why? They deliver a flavor adventure that I've never quite experienced. Here is all you need to know: 1. Tartuffo Bianco Pizza 2. Beet Ravioli 3. Beet Ravioli 4. Grilled Artichokes 5. Kobe Meat Balls 6. Beet Ravioli Their other stuff is good too. I can see how some of the negative reviewers would have been underwhelmed if they showed up to this place expecting an Olive Garden experience and just ordered something like, a fettuccini Alfredo or something (which isn't exciting no matter where you are). But this is PIATTINI people!! SMALL PLATES!! You're supposed to order a bunch of stuff and pig out and have the most most amazing dining experience of your life! My advice: TRY EVERYTHING

Delicious. Prosciutto Daniele (close enough to my name, that I couldn't resist) was buttery and just salty enough. And, like others have mentioned, the beet ravioli is tastier than it has any right to be. Mild, natural sweetness balanced with a savory sauce with mushrooms and tomatoes. I ordered the small - since I also had the prosciutto and an olive medley - and it was enough for one for dinner. Hell, I was even seated outside on a beautiful night next to a rosemary plant.

As others have mentioned, we thought the appetizers were quite good but the entrees were lacking. The service was very good and the space upstairs worked well for our group which included 5 kids! We thought the grilled artichokes and peaches were great! The Cesar salad was very good as was the grilled calamari. The pork looked much better than it tasted. A bit dry for me. The linguine with clams was also pretty good but not great. The tiramisu was just ok. Overall, we had a great time and would still recommend the restaurant. Service, ambiance, prices (even on wine), were quite good.

Beet ravioli was delicious but half cold. Wait staff took it and heated it more immediately, but was disappointed considering how great the atmosphere was. Tartufo Bianca was pretty good, bruschetta was okay. Four stars for the delicious food and great staff, dock one for not making that ravioli fresh.

Great food, friendly host, never got to do the eating/watching a show combo, but that must be an awesome treat. Service is friendly, but not very attentive. Dessert options don't live up to the standard of the appetizers and entrees. That being said... some of the great dishes include the charcuterie options, wild mushroom bruschetta, red beet ravioli, braised pork with egg, and the kobe beef meatball pasta. All in all, Germano's Piattini is certainly one of the better restaurants in Little Italy.

My favorite Italian restaurant within an hour's drive from home. Favorites are the vongole and beet ravioli. The tartufo was good but I would personally go for the ravioli. Lacking are the grilled peaches and the kobe meatball appetizer. One of the best things about this place is the complementary bread - the tomato infused bread dipped in the olive oil is addictive. Anyhow, the main dishes are very satisfactory and the service is always outstanding. Christian was our server and he deserves credit for making dinner really comfortable. Will be back sooner than later!

I casually mentioned to the owner when we were getting seated that we came in last Saturday, and liked the food so much that we are bringing more friends here. At the end of our meal, our waitress brought out a plate of chocolate cream puffs from the owner! It was definitely nice, and made our day! I highly recommend this place. Omg! The beet ravioli. I would have not guessed how well that goes together. You can taste the sweetness in the beets. I also has a prosutio (spelling?) pizza that was yummy. The crust was crisp. I could taste the prosutio and arugula. I'm highly impressed with this place.

And they said the only good Italian food is in NYC...Germano's takes that assumption and throws it out the window. Although it's not the best I've ever had, it's on par with some of the most authentic and highly touted Italian restaurants in NYC. Their bianco tartufo was superb and their pork belly was just decadent. The dessert was a bit underwhelming (poached pear was just too sweet with nothing to balance it out) but the recommended wine by Germano himself was on point. Though we came during RW, I'd definitely come back and pay full price the next time I'm in town. One star taken away for the tight seating-- it wasn't busy the night we came but we were all packed into one room off the bar area. Would've preferred to spread out a bit.

Thank you!

CIN CIN!

Omg! The beet ravioli. I would have not guessed how well that goes together. You can taste the sweetness in the beets. I also has a prosutio (spelling?) pizza that was yummy. The crust was crisp. I could taste the prosutio and arugula. I'm highly impressed with this place.

My husband had the beet ravioli and I had the lasagne and it was delicious! I wish they would give some type of bread or something with your meal, but other than that phenomenal!

Remarkably mediocre for the price. Started out with stale bread with the antipasti. Bruschetta bread also stale. Lasagna below average with ground beef tasting old. Spinach ravioli not too bad but the pillows on the tough side of al dente.

This place surprised me. We had the lamb and salmon dish for dinner. The lamb was cooked as requested paired with delicious risotto. The salmon with vegetables were made to perfection. I will definitely go back again.

I love the small plate menu, I can sample lots of different dishes and get good range of good eats. The atmosphere is very cozy and everyone was very attentive and friendly. Sadly, I was unable to attend the show upstairs.

The food was really good. Their portions are small so you can try multiple dishes in one sitting and share with everyone. They also have a great selection of wine at reasonable prices that aren't super marked up

We organized a large work event at Germano's and could not have been happier. The food was delicious, the servers were very attentive, and overall our team had a great time. The planning process also ran super smoothly - Don and Germano were really helpful.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
