Go to Doobies. Horrible server. We advised on way in that my girlfriend is a diabetic and would do well to have a glass of OJ. As she was bringing ione to someone else, we caught her eye and she rediverted to us. It took another 15 minutes to get the correct menu, when we gave our order. She walked away in the middle of us giving our order to get us the correct menu. Another 10 Minutes. As my girlfriend is about to throw up, we finally get our coffee about 25 minutes in. Here with daughter to get brunch. Still waiting for our cream. We got our cream from another table. We have ordered simple stuff, eggs whichp got to us at the half hour mark. The other server seems to have managed to greet the party twice our size in under a minute. Food seems good. I ordered lox and bagel, eggs and sausage for both daughter and girlfriend.

Worst breakfast I have ever eaten in Baltimore. I ordered a steak and eggs. What a mistake. My breakfast potatoes were completely raw. I ordered my steak medium it came out burnt and tough. I sent back the steak and 20 min later an even more well done steak came out that I couldn't eat. They even had the nerve to change me because they couldn't find the manager breakfast took 1&1/2 hrs and I still didn't get my entree

I been meaning to write a review for my fave happy hour place in the Mount Vernon Square section of town. They have the best happy hour that I can think off. $2.50 domestics, $4.50 glasses of house wines and $5 dollar appetizers and rail cocktails. Nuff said. And John the bartender is always so nice and pleasant. What more can you ask for. I havent had the liberty to come for brunch or dinner, but I will make it my justice to do that next time

The morning wait staff is nice, definitely enjoyed my morning breakfast. However, the afternoon staff does need to learn some manners. A smile when addressing a table should be an unmentioned part of customer service. Don't assume that the $18 change is your tip for a $12 meal and then look offended when I ask for my change after waiting patiently for 10 minutes on your return with my money. The burgers however were tasty.

I went to Georges for the first time this past weekend to meet a friend. I'm in love. This place feels so homely. The salad I had was huge and the servers/staff were friendly and accommodating. I will be going back.

Very clean and pretty. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Came for happy hour. Good wine and cocktails at good prices. Didn't try the food.

Great place. Good food. Beautiful. Very professional team. Vince is wonderful as are many of the locals that visit. Try the leek and potato soup. I don't think you'll be sorry.

First of all I had no idea that this restaurant was inside of the hotel that I was staying in in Baltimore. The bf and I needed a super quick bite to eat as I had to make it to a show in under an hour. So, a quick Yelp search showed me that there were slim pickins round those parts! George's was the only place within walking distance that looked halfway decent, so there we went. We walked out of the hotel and looked pretty crazy when I asked the valet how to get to George's and he said "oh it's inside". Whoops. So we did a smooth about face and went back into the building. The restaurant looks pretty laid back and inviting. The waitress greeted us immediately and she was the star of the show. I would come back just for her. The food? Meh. I mean, the great thing about the meal was that my chicken was juicy as all heck. There is nothing worse than a dry piece of chicken. Amirite? I had a side caesar salad that was faaaaabulous. The only thing about it was that it was way, way, too buttery. I just am not a fan of people drowning food in butter and calling that seasoning. The juiciness of the chicken saved it from being a real miss. Overall, a solid choice if nothing else is open, but next time I'm going to venture out before settling on George's.

Staff were dressed sloppily. Food order was wrong twice. Worst offense was like warm coffee served to me twice on two different visits! When I asked for fresh coffee they took my coffee back and microwaved it. I'm staying in the hotel but won't ever go to George's again

First time in and there was only two other tables seated. The food still took an extraodinary amount of time to come out, during which we never saw our waiter. The food was presented well if that sort of thing is important to you, but I find flavor a bigger enticement. Unfortunately it lacked flavor. Not a good endorsement for entrees between 25-35 dollars these days. Very limited menu and kind of an odd mix of entrees in my opinion. Do not let them seat you anywhere near the bar. That business was lively and so very loud.

The Rockin' Rye Manhattan rocked my world. The mac n cheese helped soften the fall. Bartender was friendly, fast and efficient. Traits we appreciated since we were dangerously close to call time for our play. We made it! Hooray!

My job often places me in the middle of no where, with little accessible food, bathrooms or outlets (who in this day and age can live without a phone charge?!). True to form, I was managing an event by the Washington Monument and was in desperate need of all of the above. So, my co-worker and I stumbled on in and were immediately greeted by server who was didn't even blink when we set up our command center. We quickly ordered hot coco to warm up and two burgers, which were just as quickly delivered. Our waitress was polite as we scarfed our food while responding to many emails and phone calls. Now, the burgers were good and the fries delish, but they didn't stop me in my tracks. However, a very, VERY solid three stars for business traveler friendly service. If you need a good nosh and don't want to venture far in downtown Baltimore, George's is a good option!

I don't know why this place isn't packed for brunch. Maybe because it's attached to the hotel and otherwise doesn't have a lot of signage. It was a little tricky to find. Yelp actually has it about a block away from where it actually is, but it's in the Wyndam. Anyway, our server, Jack, was so friendly and accommodating. He was very knowledgeable about the menu.

The decor was not bad. The service there was average, one guy was super friendly and then our waitress messed up two outta three of our orders and then the last waitress fixed everything by giving us free desserts so it just equaled out to be average. The food was average as well because it was depending on what you ordered. The avocado crab meat salad was delicious, the MD crab was not delicious and really spicy, the crab mac and cheese was SOO good, crabcakes were ok, the steak was not good and the pasta was mediocre as well. Also the desserts werent bad, cheesecake, chocolate cake and peanut butter cake - I could eat those all again!

This place is so good that I wish I could use swear words to describe it. First we go in here at 8pm on a saturday night; they have about 20 total tables and only 2 are full, our group of 4 was the third. I presented my restaurant dot com card and she took it happily, covering alcohol and everything. Well the service was fantastic, the drinks were great, and the food was out of this world good. Im talking like fancy gourmet french dinner sans all the butter and snails. Our appetizer of Caprese salad was super fresh drizzled in a delicious dressing. Our salads, (I had one with walnuts, craisins, and bleu cheese), others had something with an egg in it, another person got their crab cakes, we also got some spicy red crab soup. Everything was amazing. I highly recommend everyone eating here!

So stumbled into "George's on Mount Vernon Square" on a rainy Thursday night. I was actually lost on W. Monument Street. Couldn't remeber what little side street I parked on...LOL!! #GMVS is located in the Wyndham Peabody Court Hotel, which make sense becasue like its restuarant, the hotel itself is a real live diamond in the rough of Baltimore. (For those who care: Breakfast, lunch & Dinner happen daily 6:30am - 10pm. Sunday Brunch 11am - 3pm. Need more deets then that: (410) 727-1314) Thanks to the most amazing batender "Joe" .. who not only recomended the most delish, salon salad. He spilled the tea on how the #GMVS got its name, the restuarant is actually named after the three major George's of Baltimore - George Washington, George Peabody and George Herman "Babe" Ruth...now go run tell taht!!!... LOL! The menu is a blend of New American cuisine with a sexy French influence. Not only is theservice kick ass, but the decor, certainly made me feel like i was dining with Beyonce...or some damn body! Great date noght spot especially for those taking in something at CenterStage, Baltimore Symphony, Baltimore School for the Arts, Peabody Institute, Everyman Theatre and Spotlighters Theatre... and if you didn't know that half those places existed... then .. you're welcome :) PS: shout out to Joe for turning on #Scandal for me that night... it wascake!

Came in for a happy hour swayed by the $2.50 domestic beer prices. Ordered a Sam Adams and my friends ordered two other beers. When I got the bill, none of them were at the happy hour price. Apparently the only beers that count as domestic are Coors, Bud, and Natty Boh, and I only found that out because I asked. Maybe that's common knowledge, but at the very least they should provide a list ON THE MENU of the beers they include in the happy hour specials. Also, the bartender was pretty snarky and unapologetic when I asked why beers brewed in the US weren't domestic beers. Won't come back here again.

I literally JUST came home from this place and had a terrible experience. It is mostly dealing with the waitress that we had this morning. The only thing I regret is not getting her name. We went here because it was the only place open at 7:30am on a Sunday. There was a gentleman that sat us and took our order (he was fine). Then a girl was taking care of us. When I got my food (I ordered the breakfast sandwich with biscuit) I was impressed by the quantity. When I went to go eat it, the biscuit was dry and unsavory. It took us forever to get the waitress' attention. When we finally got it, I just substituted my biscuit for toast. All was fine until I got the toast. There was pink stuff on my toast. When pointing out to the waitress what I found, she casually said "oh thats just strawberry jelly from the knife." First of all, who doesn't wipe off a knife before using it or grab a new knife? Second of all, I knew it was the waitress that cut the toast since she knew exactly what it was that was on my toast! Lazy much? She said shed get me a new toast but at that point I told her I lost my appetite. She gave me a stank look! How is this acceptable behavior?

I completely forgot about this place since I moved out of the city and forgot about how kewl and chill this place was. It's right there in the heart of Mt Vernon part of the Wyndham Peabody Hotel up the street from the Walters, around the corner from the Monument, and not to far from Peabody. So if you're from out of town and staying there for the night then you're only in walking distance from all the happenings in the Mt Vernon area. Ok, enough about the ambiance...George's is a very kewl place where you will get what you paid for because it is worth the money. The crab cakes are not fluff and are actually lump crab meat, the salads are fulfilling, the staff is great, and the bar will keep your spirits lifted. Also, Happy Hour is from 5pm-8pm #Cheers They also valet as well but I would suggest parking at the lot that is just down the street on the corner of Cathedral & Centre. #MuchCheaper Now that I have been reacquainted with this place, since it has been years for me, I will be going back sooner than later because the menu has changed and I need to try those items out #asappy

Although the bar itself is really small, I really like this place. While located in a hotel, they still attract a local crowd in the bar. Excellent happy hour specials (I recommend the Chicken Quesadilla appetizer, it is a meal in itself). Pricing is good, selection isn't bad for the size of the place. The bartenders are friendly and engaging. My only complaint is that the hotel management still won't spring to upgrade their cable package, watching an O's or a Ravens game there is hit and miss, they can only show the game if a major network is carrying it, not if it is on NFL network or MASN.

Wow, so I felt the need to amend my previous review because I had an amazing dish at George's. I got the Steak and Bleu sandwich. A filet mignon on flat bread with crispy onions and a bleu cheese fondue. The filet was cooked(medium) and seasoned to perfection. I highly recommend this sandwich. The Ketel One Dirty Martini was amazing and John is a great bartender. Each time I go, whether with my fiancé or by myself, I always talk to interesting people...and I mean it in a good way.

I came here for lunch on New Year's and fell in love. The wait staff was very attentive, the food was delicious and the prices are very reasonable, especially considering the location in the middle of the Square with a view of the Monument, and beauty of the restaurant itself. I ordered a chicken quesadilla that was to die for, full of flavor. I can't wait bring my out of town friends here and impress them!

We really, really, really wanted to love this place. Alas. We were there at 5:30 or so on a Tuesday before a show at Everyman. One server, one bartender, about 8 people at the bar, no one in the dining room. The server was attentive, pleasant, and seemed happy to see us, and the bartender was nice, too. The bar looked great, very friendly folks, and good happy hour specials. My cocktail was very good. Food? Meh. There seems to be some effort here, and you want to love the 'old school' style. Ceasar Salad was pretty good - home made croutons! I had cake and steak, the crab cake was bland (although the sauce for it, on the side, was very good), and my filet was significantly overcooked. Served with tasty, but cool, rice and asparagus. Desert was a cheesecake, nothing to get excited about. They no longer honor restaurant.com certificates (which is why we were there), and that's fine - but when given an opportunity to get me to come back with a card for a free drink or free app, take it. They didn't. We probably won't be back for dinner, but might pop in to the bar someday.

I ate at George's several times while staying at the Wyndham Peabody. Teh service was excellent, the food was nicely presented and very satisfying. This is a civilized place to have a nice meal.

I love this place after a hard day's work at school (I'm a student just across the park at Peabody). It is a quiet, easy place to relax. Usually. Sometimes people come in to watch sports games on the TVs and completely ruin the mood. Drinks are good, and the beer list is pretty legit. Waitstaff is fine. I think the bar staff is way friendlier than the dining staff. Happy Hour is a ridiculously awesome. The food is actually quite good, too!

Came here because I had a Restaurant.com coupon. Food not too bad but definitely not worth the price if I did not have a coupon. The decor was pretty classy. Service was slightly below average. Everytime I come here (usually on a weeknight), the dining area is super slow and we're the only customers in the dining area. As a result, since the staff is doing other things, we oftentimes are forgotten about.

My husband and I have a soft spot for George's - we had our wedding reception across the street at The Engineer's Club and went to George's for brunch the morning after. But that was 10million years ago and (inexplicably) we hadn't been back since. Thanks to some insanely good restaurant.com coupons we have had brunch there two Sundays in a row. The atmosphere is lux and impressive without being a bit stuffy or formal. The waitstaff was efficient, friendly and helpful. The food (which was served quickly) was fresh, high quality and well priced. The coffee was delicious and was refilled constantly. There were a few tables of what seemed to be "regulars" which is always a good sign. We will definitely be back for brunch..and possibly for dinner (the weekday specials looked pretty good). GET THE BLOODY MARY.

We had a really nice experience here. We went on a Sunday and it was not busy. We had Bloody Mary's which I loved because they were loaded with olives. YUM! We all got something different and I think we all liked our food. I got the Goat Cheese omelet and it was very good. My husband got the Smoked Salmon Eggs benedict and enjoyed his too. We did have a small problem with the waitress she just didn't seem very friendly. But overall it was a nice Brunch and I think we would go back.

My only complaint about this place is that it can get too popular and I have to wait for a spot. It is one of my favorite happy hour spots - Sunday through Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday night is burger night and they have a variety to choose from. I also like their food outside of happy hour as well. Great atmosphere and awesome bartenders.

Really great place to have brunch. I ordered smoked salmon benedict and it tastes awesome! The english muffin is crispy and in the egg yolk and with smoked salmon, and it has so many layers of different texture and flavor. My friend had the omelet and she thinks it was pretty good too. The service is kinda lame. Not anyone's fault but there was just one waitress for the whole room and she was obviously always in rush. Nice neighborhood, walking distance from Mt Vernon, and resonalble price. Good choice for weekend brunch.

(07/03/2011) The brunch at George's was a pleasant surprise. The dining room in the historic Peabody Court Hotel is elegant, in a restrained old money meets modern chic kind of way (gold and crimson brocade, white marble tops) and has a nice view of the stunning chandelier that overlooks the lobby. The brunch menu hits all the highlights (Benedicts, pancakes, omelets) and has something for "lunchers" as well (wraps, sandwiches, salads). Mimosas and Bloody Marys are a steal at $4 and were substantial (in size and in octane). The Smoked Salmon Benedict had plenty of the salty, smokey fish; poached eggs perfectly done (with the yolk-busting ooze I look forward to); the Hollandaise was excessivley thick, heavy-handed with paprika garnish, a little salty, but nice tartness and butter flavor. The pancakes were tangy, dense, buttery, a little sweet, slight metallic aftertaste. The Baja Wrap (eggs, avocado, bacon, potatoes, salsa, cheese in a whole wheat tortilla) was pronounced "very good". The Cranberry Walnut Salad (baby field greens, blue cheese crumbles, candied walnuts and dried cranberries, blueberry vinaigrette) was exactly as described, so if you like that kind of thing, you get what you're looking for. For such fancy surroundings, the tab was surpisingly reasonable. This could end up being your neighborhood spot, and out-of-towner guest spot all rolled into one.

Went purely out of convenience after a friend said it was terrible, and it was virtually dead on a Saurday night. We sat at a table by the bar, but the bartender seemed annoyed that he had to actually come around to talk to us - he was flippant and impatient. The crab dip looked and tasted terrible, was served with tortilla strips absolutely soaked in grease, and way overpriced.

George's is the bar/restaurant at the Peabody hotel on Mt. Vernon Square. The food is good and and ambiance is very nice. I hesitate to put this on Yelp for fear that the relatively small bar will fill up, but... the best reason to visit is the happy hour (5 to 7 or maybe 8 on weeknights). 2 for 1 on pretty much all drinks and $5/$6 bar food that is very tasty. I'd especially recommend the crab dip. VERY tasty. The chicken in all forms is also really good. The only downside is that you have to be in the bar to get the happy hour deals and it's a pretty small space. And sometimes can fill up with yuppys but all in all it's worth it.

Three friends and I recently had dinner here. The service was very slow--the waitress was inexperienced and also the only person serving in the restaurant along with delivering room service as well. (She was very nice, though.) The food was OK--acceptable, but for the prices, you can do a lot better in Mount Vernon. The rolls, which we weren't offered until our entrees had already arrived, had obviously been microwaved, and turned into hunks of clay within two or three minutes. The exception was the crab dip, which was delicious and filled with huge hunks of crab. I'd say to come for one of the drink specials, have the crab dip, and then find somewhere else for dinner.
