Never had a crabcake so good. Excellent beer selection for craft beer nerds to enjoy. Waitstaff incredibly friendly and patient with us out of towners. Couldn't recommend more highly.

My buddy and I got off the ferry in Fell's Point after visiting Fort McHenry. We still hadn't had crab cakes during our visit to Baltimore. I did a little research and learned that Duda's certainly had some of the better crab cakes in Baltimore. We each ordered the appetizer crab cake and weren't disappointed. I had been living my life eating those pathetic, flat little patties that were passing for crab cakes on the west coast This crab cake was huge, with giant lumps of crab meat. We tried crab cakes in a couple of other places during our stay, but none were better than the ones at Duda's.

Had a burger, sweet potato fries and a cold beer here. The food was great and the conversation even better. Staff was friendly and bathrooms were clean.

Always the best crabcake availible in B-more! They take pride in their craft. Always good beer on tap and happy customers abound. Great place to go enjoy a good meal with good folks. An undiscovered crabcake hotspot!

Ahhh, Duda's!! One of the worst places I've been to in Baltimore. I mean I'm all about bar food and hole in the wall joints, but this place must have had the slowest service imaginable, bartender eating the free Happy Hour food behind the bar, the cook leaving the kitchen going outside; for what I have no idea (just a few observations) and to top it off my boyfriend and I were the only patrons in there ordering food! I order the fish and chips which were ok, but it's not that hard to mess that up; probably should have ordered their "Best in Town Crab cakes" maybe that would have made it worth my while. Too bad I won't be going back to try them......I'm just saying

Waited for over an hour for our dinner only to find our order was lost in the kitchen. The GM Scott was very apologetic and comped our drinks. It was very disappointing given the recommendations by others.

To be honest, even after all the good reviews I read, the initial smell of Duda's that knocked me in the face when I walked in almost made me second guess my choice, but I sat down anyways and figured I'd get used to it.. Ultimately, my boyfriend and I went for the crab cakes and we were not disappointed! We were the only people in the place around 5 on a Monday.. clearly an awkward time, but we were hungry! We got some happy hour beers and ordered one crab cake platter and one extra crab cake to split. It was a perfect amount for us between 1 1/2 huge jumbo lump crab cakes and all the sides that came with it. Service was casual and friendly, and pretty personal considering we were the only table.

My Raven Burger was big and spicy and darn good. The Natty Boh on tap was like Heaven just erupted in my mouth. And the service was fast and very friendly.

  • Patrick F.

Service was excellent and friendly. Good beer selection although staff was not informed about the styles, so they were unable to discuss or describe what each was. Buffalo wings and chili were well below average, bordering disgusting. Food brought our night down to what was going to be a 5 star rating.

    (3)
  • Alexis S.

This tiny little hidden masterpiece is the oldest bar in Fells Point and still only has a 6 day liquor license- which means, and remember this when your dying for their wings to go with some Ravens football, its closed on Sundays...Besides that unfortunate detail (I would happily eat here every day of the week if I could...) Duda's has a great menu that takes you from standard bar fare (done very well) to amazing dishes only found here; such as the chilli bake (unreal chill bakes and topped with buttermilk croutons and cheddar cheese) old bay wings and the Raven burger (big, spicy and delicious). They have a good beer selection, including Natty Boh on tap and a warm, friendly staff. A great spot any night of the week!

I went here once. I don't recall what I drank, or what I had to eat. It's a bar. They serve food. The fact that I can't remember a single detail about my experience here says something. I didn't have the crabcakes though, and everyone seems to be raving about the crabcakes...so maybe I just didn't order the right thing. I'll tell ya what, Duda's...the next time I find myself living in Fells Point again (HA!), I'll give you another shot. Deal?

  • Jen G.

I've always enjoyed the food at Duda's. Tuesday is 1/2 priced crabcake day, and their crabcakes are pretty good. Wednesday is 1/2 priced burger day. Their turkey burger is very good, and it's huge! They also have an impressive selection of beers. My only complaint is that the service is always very slow. Don't go to Duda's if you're in a hurry.

Next stop on the bar crawl, walked into this smallish corner. It got raved reviews on it's food, so I figured the bar service wouldn't be bad either. Walked in, and it was pretty packed. There were several girls in line for drinks, and all the bartenders were ignoring them/us, just making drinks for the patrons at the tables. They were clearly understaffed for a Saturday night, or the priorities weren't straighten out. Once we got attended to, which was about ten minutes after we walked in, the bartender thought I said "fuzzie nipple" however I said "Rezzie Ale." Yeah, I don't exactly know where he got that from, nor do I look like a fuzzie kind of guy... They do have a real good selection of beers though. There were a few I never heard of before, but I'm also not from this region though either. Drinks were expensive in comparison to Leadbetter, but I guess that everything is. However, it was $11 for a draft beer, and a g and t, kind of steep. The saving factor of this place this night was the small bistro tables outside that let us enjoy the nice evening weather.

Lunch yesterday and the place was packed. They have a wide selection of draft and bottled beers. Bar good is very good. One of our favorite places when visiting Fells Point in Baltimore.

My girlfriend were in Baltimore for the weekend and kinda decided on a whim to pop into Dudas for dinner, mostly because neither of us had been there yet. Well, I've had beers there before but never dinner. For an appetizer we got fried clam strips and woah. Just woah, they were great. Some of the best I've had. They have a GREAT craft beer selection but we'd spent all day drinking those at Max's so I just got a buncha Natty Bohs, she got wine. I ordered one of the specials, a soft crab sandwich. Let's just saw... WOW. I'd never had one of these before, so they explained it all to me. I made the right choice. Whole crab, seasoned, breaded and fried to perfection with a nice i cant remember, but was delicious. Fries were cooked to perfection and Old Bay was bein sprikled appropriately. It was one of the best meals I've ever had. My girlfriend got the fish n' chips which i tried some of and again... WOW. This I can say, after having fish n' chips everywhere and anywhere, this was the best. Why the 4 stars you ask? The two guys sittin next to us wouldn't stop bothering us. Even asked for a round of beers. They were nice and all, and it was fine when we were having the app and drinks, but kept bothering us while we were eating. I wish i could just do a 4.7 but there's no star fractions. Oh well, there's worse things in life than an interupted dinner. The food was absolutely amazing, the folks working were friendly and welcoming, and the beer was cold. If you find yourself in Fells Point and don't wanna deal with the trendy spots, pop in here, order a beer and see whats on the specials menu. You'll be glad.

I will visit this place every time that I'm in Baltimore. Duda's is a great corner bar with that also happens to serve top notch bar food. This is a good place to unwind after a day of work. Our crabcakes were excellent- large pieces of crab and no filler. Be sure to get the platter, 1 crab cake isn't enough. Also, any place that has shakers of Old Bay on the table is A-OK in my book. Also- they have a nice selection of microbrews on tap.

  • K M.

I had a crabcake and a burger there last night. The crabcake was excellent (solid lump meat) and the burger was great as well.(fresh ground chuck) I will go back again. It was 1/2 price burger night, so I was in luck! The beer selection was very good and My Green Flash IPA was a nice surprise on tap.

Drinks, service, food, atmosphere. This is the penultimate neighborhood pub. The chili bake is like a cross between French Onion Soup and a Bowl of Chili that belongs somewhere between New Orleans, and Austin. Always a good time.

I went here with several work colleagues who were in from out of town and wanted an authentic Baltimore experience. Tavern dining in Fells Point is about as Bawlmer as you can get and the crab cakes here at Duda's live up to their reputation as one of the best versions in town. I decided to go with the platter (two crab cakes plus two sides), as I had worked up a good appetite. The single crab cake comes with two very small sides and would not have been enough. The crab cakes here are the size of baseballs with a good amount of lump meat and similar flavor to Faidley's (still the superior crab cake in my book). The crinkle cut fries were surprisingly tasty and the slaw was also quite good. Others had fish & chips (very good) and the Raven Maniac burger (with jalapenos and chili). We also ordered a few rounds of fresh oysters (a bit out of season but good nonetheless) and an order sweet potato fries (they no longer offer those gooey sweet potato sticks). Both were top notch. I was less impressed with the beer selection than I expected given the reviews. And I was even less impressed when I asked about one of the local beers (Heavy Seas Hang Ten) and was told it was an unfiltered wheat -- but they failed to mention it was an unfiltered wheat double bock!! Not what I wanted with my crab cakes! Fortunately, they also had Anchor Steam which was a perfect match. FYI: Tue nite all crab cakes are half off; Wed nite all burgers are half off

Went here twice, second time was much better. Food was great both times, but our waitress the first time was a flake. Delish crab cakes. If you get two, prepare to be stuffed. The chicken wings were great, too. I really liked the BBQ and Old Bay ones. Great beer selection. Problem with the first waitress was that our food took forever to arrive and then she brought the wrong stuff. Our second waitress was much better and attentive. Sitting outside is a great option during good weather. Nothing beats sitting along the cobblestone street and classic architecture.

I used to actually like this place as far as a dive bar goes, its got a cool atmosphere and usually plays pretty cool music. But I'm sorry, the last two times I've been there the service was just really poor, and its not like they were busy at all either. It just took ages to get my food and even beer, I have no idea if its mismanagement or what but I'm not the only one, look at the other reviews here. The food it OK, I had the crab cakes and I thought they were average at best. Its too bad because it could be a cool place given the location and cool atmosphere.

Let me preface this by saying I haven't been here in a while, but... The burgers. Oh, the burgers. My mouth is watering as I type, my arteries hardening... So very yummy. Nice way to start off a evening in Fells Point, since they're on one end of the drag and you can walk, drink, crawl your way down the cobblestones.

$5.00 apps Monday-great apps, I am a fan of their fried clam strips $12.00 Crab Cakes Tuesday-pretty decent crabcakes! 1/2 price burger Wednesday-great well seasoned burgers I love this little place in fells point. Server's are nice, the chefs are friendly. I'm positive my friends and I will continue to come back

Beers: A wide variety of unique beers on tap. Appetizer: Crab Martini (market price). A generous potion of crab sitting on top of lettuce, generously sprinkled with Old Bay, in a martini glass. Adding the butter as a dip makes a great compliment to the crab. Entree: Crab Cake ($14) and about the size of a tennis ball. Great mixture of shredded crab and filler. What makes the dish: Their homemade Tartar Sauce and Cole Slaw! The best overall crab cake presentation we've encountered so far in Baltimore! Service: Fast, efficient, and very friendly. Atmosphere: A typical small tavern and very friendly and clean.

Stopped in for the 2-for-1 beverage coupon compliments of the water taxi and stayed for the 1/2 price burgers (Wednesdays). The burgers were great - hand formed patties and cooked well. Bonus was the super selection of hot sauces on display at the bar.

Great place to watch the game and grab a seasonal craft beer. Big time Orioles/Ravens supporters here! I went here during the fall when the Orioles were in the playoffs, and it was an electric atmosphere! It's only a few blocks from the bay, so I recommend walking around, stopping into a few shops, and making a trip to Duda's for a drink and a snack. The seating is a bit limited - there are some bar stools, a few high tops, and a handful of tables. On weekend nights, it's basically reserved to standing room only. But that's a small price to pay. The eclectic beer selection more than makes up for it.

This is our go-to afternoon drink spot in Fell's Point. I've never tried the food, but it looked like decent bar food. As for the drinks, they are cold and plentiful. The tap list is extensive from local favs like Natty Boh to great craft brews from all over the country. Price wise, it's a little bit cheaper than the surrounding bars. This is a good spot to grab a drink and catch a game... or just escape from the more douchy bars in the Fell's Point area.

Came for the crabcake that everyone raves about. It was special of day (tuesdays). At first I was put off by the size / shape that I saw on fellow diners' plates. Looks like a tennis ball. I smashed mine down to flatten it a bit into a cake and sure enough, decent big size. Best of all, great flavor!! Full of crab, little filler. Great seasoning and prep. We happened to walk in at the same time as several other parties for late lunch, so we waited a long time for service. The only server was hustling tho and very capable and sweet. Not a lot of space here and not on the water which is why it loses a star in my mind. The food is better away from the crowds anyway.

Need some late night food in Fell's? Try Duda's. After a ghost tour around Fell's we needed some food, and Duda's seemed like a good option. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks and food. I had chili and a baked potato, and it was pretty good. The chili was a little spicy, but on top of the potato it worked out pretty well. Although we waited awhile for our food, the service was really great. The bartender provided good recommendations, kept our drinks refilled, and went above and beyond helping us look for a lost earring. When we couldn't find it that night, they took a second look when cleaning after hours and called the next morning to let us know that they had found the earring. Not everyone would bother doing that!

Chili bake. Get the chili bake. Crab dips also good though strangely it has tomatoes on it which I had never seen. Also the harvest stew is amazing. So if those dishes are yummy why the very low rating? Every single time we go, we wait. Forever. We wait for over an hour for food most days. We wait so long that I can't actually be sure the food tastes good cause there's the possibility that at that point I could eat shaved cardboard like potato chips. But again, if you're down to wait, chili bake.

Friendly service, delicious food, great weeknight specials, and very reasonably priced! I had a llama burger the other night for $10 which included a side of sweet potato fries. It was delicious! The staff was friendly and attentive also. Definitely a dive bar so it's a little cramped inside, but there is also outdoor seating which is perfect on a nice day. Nice selection of craft beers and AWESOME crab cakes! Definitely check this place out!

$8.99 for a grilled salmon burger and sweet potato fries. I fell in love. My meal was so delicious and the price was more than right! The other two people I was with got a single crab cake with a small (like a dixie cup) portion of coleslaw and potato salad. They said the crab cake was good, potato salad below average. It didn't seem like $17.99 was a fair price for a single crab cake with sub-par sides. Seems like a great place if you order right!

Went there with a group of seven. Very limited menu but what they did they did exceptionally well. I had the soft shell crab that was very fresh and well executed. I was told that the burger was excellent as well as the crab cakes. If you're going for fresh crab or a burger. This is a winner. Friendly service.

Decided to try Duda's after reading about it in a "Baltimore" magazine. It was listed as one of the 25 best bars in 2012. Went in around mid-day on a Tuesday. I sat at the bar and one of the first things I noticed were the giant tubs of both peanuts & pretzels available for patrons. I love bars that do this. I ordered a Resurrection and asked for a menu. Before I could even open it, the bartender / waitress (Ali) mentioned the day's special, the crab cake. Every Tuesday their crab cakes are 1/2 price. Woo! I didn't need to think any further. I ordered the crab cake sandwich (see picture!). An older gentleman, a regular, came in during my meal. It was quite obvious that he was completely at home at Duda's. I could go on & on about my experience, but I won't. It was a great experience. I chatted with the bartender extensively. All in all a great place to stop by, especially on a Tuesday when the crab cakes & resurrection are on special.

3.5 stars is about right. Food is deece, atmosphere is chill (during the day) and an ok place to have a beer (Personally prefer maxs tap house though it's dark in there). What I had/opinion: crabcake sandwich. One of the better ones for sure but it's a fair price to pay for it. Only stopped by fells for some lunch and it was a place recommended me by another guy who I was chatting to. Probably won't be visiting this place again though unless i was given no option! Haha.

This is our 2nd visit to Duda's and it has yet to disappoint. The service is laid back (meaning slow) but it is all part of the ambiance of the joint. Best crab cakes I've ever had. If you want a old fashioned joint in Fell's Point to eat crab cakes this is the place.

Unfortunately I didn't get to sit down for a while and was slightly in a rush, but the atmosphere was nice, food was delicious and reasonably priced. They had nice outdoor seating too. The music was a bit loud when arriving, but they toned it down. The service took time due to just 1 waitress, but if you have time it's worth it. Good beers, good food.

The best crabcakes in Baltimore. I could end my review there and you would know everything you need to know. But I also had the chili bake - which was a very mild chili baked with plenty of cheddar cheese topping. I could have done without the almost too big croutons on top but it was a cold day and it tasted really good. We came in on a Tuesday and it was half price crab cake day! Yeah! $8.99 for one cake either with crackers or on bread. The waiter/barkeep said we should go with the cracker one and we did. Holy crab cakes, Spongebob! These consisted of almost 100% flaky, tender, sweet crab meat the size of a tennis ball. The others we had tried around Baltimore had much more filler and smaller crab pieces. These were browned perfectly and needed nothing but a fork to enjoy. We ordered another because they were so good. Honestly had we not wanted to try the sausage platter they had on the Oktoberfest menu we would have ordered two more. The sausage platter had a choice of two sausages served with German potato salad and kraut. Bratwurst, Knackwurst, all the wursts which were delish! Honestly, I could have eaten a big ol' bowl of the German potato salad. At $13 it seemed a bit steep for bar grub. But we had time to waste and bellies to fill before a really long trip home on a non stop late flight. The locals eat here. About every other person who came in was greeted by name, knew the bartender and ordered "the usual" or "you know what I want". Gotta love that! If you like a clean, simple beer ask for a glass of Nutty Boh. It seems to be the cheap beer of choice around here but it really is refreshing. Honestly, I'm not sure I've ever had better, more friendly service at a tavern eatery.

I had the ruben and the chili cheese bake. Both were disgusting. The waitress was rude and would not split our checks. I will not be going back.

I got a crab cake. It looked pretty small but that was deceptive. It ended up being s good chunk of crab. The crab cake itself was very well executed. There wasn't an overage of filling and every bite had a substantial amount of crab. The crab was cooked a perfect doneness. There was a hint of old bay on top then fried to perfection. In terms of the ambiance this bar gets top marks. It's low key and friendly. It wasn't crowded on a Saturday night where it seemed every other bar at fells point was filled with people. The selection of beer on tap could be better, but you'll be able to find a style of beer you enjoy. If not they have more exotic bottles.

We used to live about 100ft from this place and after 3 years and moving, we finally ended up visiting./ Friday night, wanted to sit outside with baby and friends, high hopes for the burger. We found seating for 4 outside at 7p. Drink selection is reasonable with plenty on tap, though not too exotic, and deals where you can pick 6 bottles to put in a bucket at a variety of prices and styles (Polish bucket!). Opted for Boh and Loose cannon on draft and margarita, all of which fit the bill. Husband had the Raven Maniac a 12oz monstrosity that was a thing of beauty, if only it would have been properly cooked to order (was done medium well rather than rare). Chicken wrap, hot dog, house salad, all also fine, as expected. It was a beautfiul evening and outdoor dining must have been in high demand but we never felt rushed and our server was very polite and attentive (pleasantly surprised as we didn't expect the level of service we received; expected something grittier from the neighborhood pub). The value was also terrific. One of the more affordable venues along Thames that will also leave you stuffed. The cuisine here will not blow anyone away (not in the top 5 burgers in Baltimore) but safe to say that you will enjoy Duda's as long as you expect decent food at a reasonable price, at a small place that has a local feel (even if those who live just down the street sometimes pass it by!).

Good divey bar. We were here on a Friday and the service was great, unfortunately when we came back on Tuesday for their crab cake night, it took us 15 mins to get a drink at the bar. I'd still come back but they need to work on their staffing. One waitress for the bar and the whole place is not enough. As a last note I will say the crab cakes do live up to there hype.

Fun little dive to grab quick bite and drinks. Salmon burger and sweet potatoe fries weren't anything amazing. Burger was a little dry but the fries were nice and hot out of the fryer.

I was only in Baltimore for 2 nights, which meant I had to eat every type of seafood imaginable during my stay. Since Maryland is known for crab, I got a recommendation from a local to go to Duda's Tavern and eat crab cakes. It's a small dive bar - definitely very casual and small. I ordered a single crab cake for $14, which is not bad, considering most crab cakes at other restaurants are small and cost about $25 for an entree. The crab cake was large, the pieces of crab were large and meaty, and there was minimal "filler'" of breadcrumbs. There was a strong flavor of Bay Seasoning, but overall, it was delicious and well made. If you want 2 crab cakes, it's $27, plus you get sides. Great option if you're dining with someone else. It came on 2 pieces of plain wheat toast (which was a little odd), a little thing of tartar sauce, mayo, coleslaw and more potato chips. I didn't touch the toast because I was saving room for the oysters I had down the street at Thames Street Oyster House afterwards (highly recommend eating oysters there!) If you're looking to make a sandwich out of it, maybe get white bread (or ask for a burger bun). I got 2 pieces of what looked like Orville's Wheat Bread that you get for breakfast. I wish I had come on a Tuesday when they had 1/2 crab cakes - at $7, it's a steal. I went on a Thursday, which is a NY strip steak + 2 sides for $12.99. Wednesdays they have 1/2 price burger night. It's a bit loud inside, but it's a dive bar, so it's to be expected. Some people complain that the food takes a long time, but I went on a Thursday night at 7:30 and only waited for 10 min. Guess I was lucky. Great neighorhood bar with good prices that won't break the bank. I'd definitely come back for more crab cakes, especially on a Tuesday night. Satisfied the crab cake craving.

Ate there on Jan. 3, 2015. The service was good, not fast but that was OK. The steamed shrimp was perhaps the best I've ever had and I'm very picky about shrimp. I wish this restaurant was around the corner from me. I would be there every day.

My wife and I walked up to Fells Point this past weekend to join the festivities at the 2011 City Paper Brewfest and since it was around lunch time we decided to stop in to Duda's Tavern for a bite to eat beforehand. Given the glowing reviews bestowed upon this establishment by my fellow Yelpers it was only a matter of time before we found ourselves with asses parked at the stools of this long-time Baltimore landmark. Located just far enough off of Broadway Square to avoid the annoyingly obnoxious crowds Duda's Tavern is tucked away, sidled on the corner of the brilliantly old cobblestone streets of Fells Point. It's unassuming, historic, and inviting. As soon as we walked in the bartender greeted us with a warm smile. After some of our recent experiences it's nice to actually be acknowledged when you enter a bar/restaurant. Duda's is small even for old Baltimore bar standards. There are a handful of high-tops scattered around, some outdoor tables and a bar that's about as long as some shuffleboard tables I've seen. The décor is a bit of all over the place but in a good way. I was here to get a good sandwich not pontificate on the virtues of earth tones when creating the right atmosphere. At the bar there was a bushel basket of peanuts with some plastic cups for the shells. Not sure how that fit in, it just did. I ordered the smoked turkey club. It came with chips. It was great. The bread was toasted perfectly, just the right amount of mayo, crisp bacon and juicy turkey. It's just a great club sandwich. It was just what the doctor ordered before an afternoon of craft beer indulgence. Speaking of which, Duda's has a nice, albeit limited selection of craft brews on tap (quite a few more in bottles). I decided to go with the Sierra Nevada Glissade; tasty spring Bock that was just the right way to prep the stomach for what was to come. I won't ramble on about this one. It was a quick strategic visit that did exactly what it was supposed to do, fill our bellies before the beer fest. The service was great, although a tad slow. The reason? According to our bartender they were short-handed in the kitchen. Just can't get good help these days. Besides, I was enjoying the bar and my company. I barely noticed. The food was fresh, prepared well and tasty and the crowd was small and well-behaved. And another good thing...there were only two TVs in the place, one of which was turned off and the other muted showing a ball game. A bar in which one can have a conversation without having to leave with strained vocal chords? I love it. Duda's is a thing of beauty in the often over-douched, popped collar, turned hat wearing gold chain sporting I'm trying too hard arena that is Fells Point. Friendly, unpretentious, small and somewhat unexpected. We're not from Baltimore but we felt like regulars after just one visit. We will most certainly be back soon.

Dudas is a quaint bar with very good food and excellent character! The service has been amazing each time I have visited and the crab dip is my fave in the Fells Point area. Enjoyed their beer selections and found prices to be cheaper than average for the area. Took out of town family there on a recent trip to Fells Point and they enjoyed as much as we do!

Came here for a fresh crab cake lunch based on recommendation of staff at the Admiral Fell Inn. The crab cake was delicious & plentiful (and I sampled a lot of 'em in MD) & the crinkle fries were a nice touch. Fun, laid-back pub atmosphere, friendly service, great menu of local seafood, sandwiches, or salads etc., lots of cool beers to try, and a bucket of peanuts for anyone wanting to belly up to the bar... What could be better! Check it out if you're looking for a fun place to hang out, have a pint, & savor great crab cakes in Fells Point.

We ended up here our first night in Baltimore since most other places were no longer serving food at 10pm. It's a decent neighborhood bar but I was not impressed with the food. Especially when I learned that they were listed among the best burgers in Baltimore. First of all, they use Kaiser rolls instead of Brioche buns. Who does that? The burger itself was ok, a little dry but flavor wise it was alright. So if I'm ever in Baltimore again I probably won't mind stopping by for a drink. But I'll pass on the food.

Great tasting crab cakes! Awesome service from Scott even with a busy a night!! Their mozzarella sticks was really good also and steam shrimps and wraps.

Yes the crabcakes are amazing but the service and wait for food are terrible. We waited a very long time for our oysters and our drinks sat empty most of the evening. It is so upsetting because I love the crabcakes here, but I can't get over the bad service and long wait.

I have been going to Dudas for a few years usually for drinks and then some snacks. I have never left disappointed at this place, it has a "balmer" charm of consistently being a fun warming atmosphere with polite staff.

Very good jumbo lump crab cake sandwich at a reasonable price ($10 on Tuesdays, $16 regular). Comes with chips, $2 to upgrade to fries. Cozy and one of the great local places that makes Fells Point unique.

    * there is a minimal of $10 per credit card transaction. This is the first time i have been here on a weekend and people were actually in here drinking and eating, something i have never seen. There is loud loud horribly mixed music, with a live dj who is blending everything from Baltimore influenced house music with a mix of hip hop, i could go without the music. Duda's is located in fell's on a corner and kinda away from most of the action, so the people that are in here aren't really what i normally see in fell's, defiantly a dive bar. Boh's are $2 for tap, and the food here is averagely priced for the area. For the beer elitists there is 10 microbrewes options for you. Rotating drafts of large microbreweries with the average abv of -6%, so don't expect anything rare or heavy. Free pretzels and shelled peanut's is the nicest touch to this bar, it helps confirm it's dive status.

Great place, chili bake is my usual, pretty standard bar food. Has a nice cozy feel to it and what they make from the tiny kitchen is amazing. Food-4/5 service-4/5

I will start off by saying I have read the reviews here and I have seen their name mentioned in the Baltimore Magazine as having one of the best crab cakes in the city. Not being a native of Baltimore that peaked my curiosity. So, my better half and another couple gave it a go. We sat at a table inside and immediately noticed something annoying...there were a lot of flies. OK, it was really annoying. We dealt with it and moved on. The menu isn't huge but it looked good (I already had my mind set on crab cakes so I didn't thoroughly look over the menu). To start the meal we ordered the chili cheese fries. We waited, and waited and waited and waited...when they did finally come out they were actually really good. The fries were crisp and the chili was pretty good. All of us of course ordered the crab cake sliders and a side. I got the sweet potato fries. So we waited and waited and waited AND waited...(seeing a theme yet) we then finally noticed that there was only one waiter for the entire place and the bar tender just stood there behind the bar and didn't help at all. He just yelled randomly. Finally the crab cake sliders came out and to my surprise there were 5 small crab balls with a tartar sauce and saltine crackers on the plate. Not my idea of sliders but OK. Either way the crab cakes were really good, nothing but lump crab meat; delicious buttery lump crab meat. They serve theirs fried and not broiled or pan fried. Halfway through eating my glorious crab "sliders" my fries finally came out. The sweet potato fries were really good as well, fried to a perfect crisp. I was with a Baltimore native and he stated those were some of the best crab cakes he has had in a while, I would have to agree. But what killed it for this place was the service. It was definitely slow. It took us quite a while to finally get our check. I am sure if I was having some adult beverages it wouldn't have seemed like the wait was that long, but I wasn't. We passed the time by swatting flies. Not my idea of fun. Dudas Tavern was good, I am just hoping that they will be staffed properly next time...I may even pack a fly swatter because those crab cakes are worth coming back for.

Why was this place never on or mentioned on the Wire?? Crabcakes get 5 stars. Service and other food get 3 stars. Dudas is a small bar in Fells Point. It's a very low key place, but man do they have good crabcakes. My veggies that came with the crabcakes were still frozen, so they put most of the effort into the crabcakes. The crabcakes were as big as softballs and had no filler. We even took some home. Service was a little slow, which was odd because the place was pretty empty. Still, I highly recommend Dudas. Have some drinks and prepare to wait for Baltimore' s best crabcakes.

(09/23/2013) Was starving after a cooking class (where they didn't feed us!) and wandered down Thames for a late dinner. Duda's is a pretty good stand by. Burger Nights are a good deal and they have a great variety of cheeses for toppings (boursin, Welsh cheddar, brie). Started with the Smoked Bluefish Salad; chock full of fishy (can't help that, it's bluefish after all), smokey fish, dressed with substantial amount of mayo; pretty good on potato chip as our dippers (decided to forego the bun). Fried Peppers were beer-battered rings of pickled banana peppers; golden-brown and crispy, piquant, tart, and good, but a little overwhelming, would've been better mixed in with onion rings or calamari as a buffer. Also, got a couple of Reubens (good quality meat, thick sandwich), they seemed grilled or panini pressed, rather than flat-topped. Prices very reasonable, service was efficient. Pretty dark and divey locals location, but a good stop.

Duda's is a small unassuming dive bar in a prime Fells location- across from the water and surrounded by swanky neighbors. It goes unnoticed by those attracted to yuppie-esque atmospheres at Bond Street Social or craving pseudo "ethnic" experiences at Mezze/Kali's/Meli. Think of what Diagon Alley looked like to Muggles ;). The atmosphere is so laid back, down to earth, and cozy that I feel like this is what Baltimore really *is*- once you peel back the shiny veneer of Harbor East and look beyond the downtown crime and grime. The food is pretty good if you know what to order. Their baked chili bowl with buttery croutons and melted cheddar is the perfect antidote to winter chill, and their crab cakes are the best in the Fells Point area. There is a different special every weeknight, and last time I checked, Tuesday is 1/2 price crab cakes. Don't come here if you are in a hurry though, food service is really slow.

I went to Duda's after an open mic down at Teavolve on my recent visit home to MD. I now live in Tucson, where a good crabcake is extremely rare, as you'd expect. Crab is one of my very favorite foods, so I was eating it at every opportunity. The crabcake sliders at Duda's were an obvious choice for me, and zomg. They were So. Good. Now, just so you don't think it was just that it had been so long since I'd had crab, understand that I had been eating crab at every opportunity for days at this point. These little balls of crab cake were just really good. They had a bunch of crab and big chunks of it, very little filler, and they were cooked to perfection - crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. The crab cakes were so good, in fact, that I wanted more. This brings me to the service. My friends and I were sitting outside and did have table service, but I was ready to order more and the gal hadn't come out, so I went in and asked for more. She told me that the kitchen was closing, and I made the sadface. I told her about my being back to visit and trying to fill up my crab-meter and all. A few minutes later, she came out of the kitchen and said they were making me some. I'm writing this review with two purposes. One is to let people know, the other is to remind myself of the name of this place so I can go back on my next visit home.

Yesterday I ate here their Thursday night special new york strip and two sides! The steak was well cooked and the sweet pot fries were to die for!!!! I will be back to try the crab cake of course!

We wandered into this place looking for some dinner and it was an excellent decision! Come here and get the crabcakes. I am no connoisseur of the crabcake and generally find them a bit unappealing due to all the filling and grease but Duda's were amazing! Much much more "crab" than "cake" in these guys without the greasy after-taste. You can order them as a single or a platter (2 plus 2 sides). I got the single and it came with a side of coleslaw and some chips. It was more than enough (well after my steamed clams for an appetizer) and it was amazing. Although the menu indicates the crabcakes are "market price" don't get scared. The platter was $27 and the single was only $14. Well worth it. Yes, the service is a bit slow but it's a great atmosphere and the servers are excellent. Chill out and have a few beers while you wait on your food.

My wife and I have been coming here periodically for the past decade, and every time we stop in we ask ourselves why we don't come more often. The food is above average "pub grub". They have a good beer and drink selection for decent prices. The service is always well above average and the staff are fun and personable.

Their crab cakes rock! I'm no crab cake expert, but damn they left me wanting more! I'd go crab fishing in the Bering Sea if the staff at Duda's would make the cakes for me. Is the Deadliest Catch hiring? Anyway, the crab cake was soft and moist on the inside, perfectly crunchy on the outside, and filling. The man working the bar claimed Duda's was voted "Best Crab Cakes in Baltimore" three years running. I'm not sure if that's true, but they were the best I've ever had. Unfortunately, I only ordered one cake because I wanted to try their fish and chips. They were good, but nothing special. Duda's Tavern is a small place with a ton of character. The building dates back to the 1840's, but the tavern wasn't established until 1949. The building is cozy, warm, with a great beer selection. I enjoy tasting local or regional beers when I travel. Good food and good beer wins me over every time. (Sounds like a t-shirt slogan.) The only reason I gave them four stars is because it took a while to get my food, and it wasn't all that busy for a Saturday night. It took 10 minutes just to get a cup of soup. Had they told me the wait for food was slow then I wouldn't care. Can I give them 4.5 stars? Haha. Duda's Tavern is awesome! The next time I visit Charm City, I will let certainly let Duda's charm me again.

Came here last night and saw it was 1/2 price crab cake day. So ordered up a platter. Cakes were big, had some filler but hey, they were 1/2 price. I ain't complaining. They had really good looking taps but I stuck with a Boh. Bad call. Lines were dirty and had a bad wang to it. No prob. Ordered up a Powers and ginger ale and all was right. Their monthly beer selections are pretty good. I'm not a fan but I know people are flocking to the Sierra Nevada Big Foot. They had it on tap for $3.50 at time of post. Limited time, of course. Watched the Caps beat the Fliers in a shoot out so that was cool too. Duda's has been Duda's since 1949 when there were 1,500 places that sold booze in Fells Pt. alone. You think it's a drinking destination today. Back then you couldn't walk down the street without getting hit by a swinging bucket of booze. Before that was the Union Hotel. Ship pilots met there in 1856 to create the first port-wide pilot's union in the country. It still looks to be a fairly local bar in the land of pleasant living and I like that. I'll be back.

Great cozy neighborhood bar. Older and more relaxed crowd than you might find at the bars around the corner on Broadway. Sort of reminds me of a pint-sized version of the bar on the TV show "Cheers." The food is not bad. I lived in lower Fells for a year and this place was one of my go-to haunts.

I happened to be in Fell's Point, craving a crab cake, so I stopped in at a coffee shop and got this recommendation from Chowhound. The atmosphere is great, very down to earth and unpretentious. I sat at the bar and was impressed by the solid beer selection. There is something here for the beer snob (me) as well as the guy who just wants a Miller Light. It was half-priced crab cake day as well (Tuesday) so I was very happy! Based on what I've read about Bmore crab cakes, mine seemed small. It definitely had some lump crab in it and it had a nice spicy mustard flavor. I got it with some saltine crackers (other choice was bread) and a side of potato salad which was suprisingly tasty. The price was right, at half price. I ended up paying $12 for everything. I'd probably go here again but order something else. The menu is quite varied, and much more high end than you'd expect from the unassuming environment.

I ordered the Chili Cheese Fries and the basic burger. Both were pretty decent, but the drinks were weak. I don't think they had enough people working because the service was extremely slow (but friendly!).

This place is just a great chill bar with above average bar food. Right in Fell's point, and if you sit outside you see the water. Pretty extensive menu for a bar...I ordered wings and a salad and was pleased with both. One thing to note-they had "sweet potato sticks" on the menu, which I ordered, thinking they were sweet potatoe fries. Wrong! They were shaped like mozzerella sticks and were filled with a sweet potato mush that almost looked and tasted like baby food. Totally bizarre. Great beer specials and a great place for a bar dinner!

Jimmy the bartender was so welcoming and friendly! Boyfriend enjoyed the beer selection, Jimmy made me a "scotch" sour that was just what I wanted - sour! This was my first trip to Baltimore and happy we wandered in Duda's first, the rest of the bar experience in the area was pretty young and too preppy for our taste.

Just went to Duda's for half-price burger night. I've been watching my beer intake, so haven't been there for awhile. I have to gladly report that the place has cleaned up with fresh paint and furniture, and the cigarette smell is gone. I know that can be very disappointing in a local bar, especially to people who claim to be natives. I can gladly report that the menu has gotten just a bit bigger, the beer menu has remained impressive and reasonable, and the food is at least as good as it ever was. The burger was really good and the turkey burger is awesome (I hate to use that word, but the turkey burger is way better than most),

I happened to frequent this bar quite often since I used to wait tables at another Fells Point restaurant. The bartenders Scott and Doug always took care of the regulars and the prices for beer and alcohol were very affordable. The food there is also above average for bar food. I would have given it 5 stars if they had a 2 o'clock liquor license.

Big lump crab cakes, good cheeseburgers, and a variety of beer specials, make this a nice place to meet. No wheelchair access to the inside or to the restrooms made this more difficult for one of my friends, but the staff was really nice and helpful.

We went to Duda's for dinner on a Friday night. Luckily we got there early, because there are about 9 small tables next to the bar. They have about a dozen beers on tap and a big selection of bottled beer, too. I was impressed with the selection. Cup of clam chowder ($4) to start. Acceptable, but nothing to write home about. Large chunks of clam and small chunks of potato were good, but the main seasoning was salt (not unpleasant, just no other herbs or seasonings - I like a hint of bay leaf). For dinner, I had a cheeseburger ($9) Six cheeses were on the menu, but they were out of Boursin, so I picked garlic cheddar, which they said was a new choice. The burger came with Ruffles and a pickle spear. The burger was served on a cold Kaiser roll: definitely ask them to toast the bun if you get a burger. The meat was delicious: well-seasoned and cooked perfectly. The patty actually looked like a backyard-grilled burger, thick and small diameter, so it looked about half the size of the bun. Dijon mustard in a jar on the table instead of French's: yummy! Hubby had the promised 'best crabcakes in town'. The menu lists market price, which always annoys me: it turned out to be $28 for two crabcakes and two sides. These crabcakes were definitely better than the Faidley's we had for lunch. Slightly smaller than Faidley's (maybe the size of a squashed baseball?), but literally no breading: it's solid meat. I actually -looked- for filler to see what they used, and it was hard to find. Delicious flavor: my guess would be dijon mustard and Old Bay seasoning or something similar, but the crab flavor really shines through. The menu had several sides: hubby chose steamed broccoli and sweet potato fries. The fries were great and the broccoli was very fresh and green (although one floret was actually raw). The 'daily' menu insert looked more like a seasonal insert, and featured a wide selection of german dishes, including four sausages and smoked pork chops. Would definitely try some of these next time: how can you go wrong with German food and great beer on tap? Pleasantly suprised when the tab came, beers were all $4.25 for a pint, despite the higher prices on the chalkboard. It may have been a happy hour special. However, the $30 entree kinda balanced it out. If I lived in Baltimore, I would be a regular here on half-price crabcakes Tuesday.
