I can't say enough good things about the owner or his staff. I love going to Barfly's. I always feel so welcomed and appreciated. Mike has really changed his bar feeling around this past year. He has decided to become a premier whiskey bar in the area. If I remember correctly he has almost 175 different whiskey labels. Even some of the rarer Japanese varieties. Finally, it is the best pizza in town.

We were excited to try this page after moving to Locust Point and hearing that they use the same pizza crust recipes as Our House and Matthews. However, the similarities end there. Service was very friendly but slow. They have a unique draft beer selection, and the bartender seemed happy to make recommendations. We were pretty hungry so we ordered garlic bread and Caprese skewers for appetizers, plus the chicken club and shrimp fra diavolo pizzas. Half an hour after we ordered our food, our appetizers came out and we couldn't believe they took so long. The garlic bread was basically a sandwich roll cut in half and covered with garlic powder and a slice of cheese. I could have made better garlic bread at home in half the time. The caprese was ok but nothing special, and they served it on basil leaves as garnish so you didn't really get the basil flavor. Our pizzas awkwardly came out 2 minutes later, but they were way better than the appetizers. The chicken club was especially good. I'd come back here for pizza only if I was hungry and Our House was closed, but I'd be wary to try anything else.

After realizing that everyone else in the house had plans for Labor Day, hubby and I decided to spend the day hiking and then end our evening with a pizza from Matthews and were both looking forward to it until we discovered they were closed for the holiday. No biggie, we love trying new places and I had read on Yelp that Barfly's offered a similar style pizza and they had a lot of great reviews so, crisis averted, we headed there for dinner. There were quite a few people sitting at the bar when we arrived but the gentleman behind the bar who we later learned was Mike, warmly welcomed us and brought menus right over to our table. After a quick look at the menu we decided on Roasted Old Bay Wings and Meat Pizza Pie with ricotta on me half. When hubby ordered the wings he asked Mike if he could just have the "flat" wings and Mike obliged. Within about 10 minutes our wings arrived hot and perfectly seasoned with Old Bay and accompanied by what tasted like a homemade blue cheese that was delicious and did I mention how large the wings were. About 5 minutes after finished the wings our pizza arrived, perfectly timed and it looked as amazing as it tasted. The crust was light and crispy and it was really loaded with pepperoni, sausage, meatballs and Prosciutto, the meats completely covered the pizza and there was just the right amount of ricotta to still allow the star of the pizza, the meats, to shine. It didn't take long for hubby to declare that this pizza was the best he'd ever had and we'd definitely be coming back. The pizzas are definitely a better deal here, only $1 extra for toppings and they don't charge 2% more if you pay with credit card like Matthews does and while I didn't try the salad this time I've heard they have their own salad dressing that is equally as awesome. Now if they could only add a spinach salad with homemade, tangy honey mustard dressing, red onions, grapes and candied walnuts to the menu I'd never need to go anywhere else.

Very mixed feelings about this place. First of all, the pizza is delicious. It's essentially the same pizza that you can get at Matthew's or Our House, great deep dish crust. The chicken club pizza was especially great. Also, the bartender was friendly and helped us choose some new beers to try. Now, the problems. The service was a little slow, and it wasn't very busy in there. But the biggest issue was the food that ISN'T the pizza. We ordered 2 appetizers, the caprese skewers and the garlic bread. The skewers weren't anything special, pretty much just cherry tomatoes and the small balls of mozzarella you can buy at Harris Teeter, on a skewer with a little balsamic. But the garlic bread was one of the worst appetizers/dishes I've ever had at a restaurant. It was literally a (non-toasted) sub roll, served open, with sliced cheese melted on it and a little garlic. I hate to send back a dish, but I came pretty close, because it was ridiculous. Maybe the least effort I've seen put into a dish when dining out. Bottom line, the pizza is very good, and stick to that half of the menu like your life depended on it.

Basically the Matthew's of Fed Hill - same food but with the Fed Hill bar feel. Great for happy hour or food if you don't feel like walking to Cross Street.

Barfly's is on point. Good pizza, great beer rotation, awesome staff. Highly recommend, one of my favorite pizza places in Baltimore.

I've been coming here for years. They treat ya right and always offer very appropriate drink suggestions. Clearly, the pizza and dressing are amazing. But the chill atmosphere and outstanding staff make this more than just a place to stop for ten minutes. Nice low key lighting, good throwback music, and relevant games on the television all make for a night that can keep rolling until close. I enjoy Barflys very much. One can't ask for much more.

Had the 2 cheese pizza with bacon (only $1 extra). Some people claim they have the same pizza as Matthews. You know what ...? That is fine by me because this pizza is incredible. They're small, personal size pizzas. But at only $9-$12 per, they are well worth it.

Came in again for lunch with my bf and Mike is the nicest guy. The first time I was here I had the buffalo chicken pizza. It was spicy enough without being too spicy and the crust is crispy yet bready. So of course I had to come back. This time I got the chicken club pizza which was amazing. They also have a great selection of beer, I'm loving the Nebraska Alestorm and the Dogfish head Namaste. Will definitely come back.

Nice crispy crust on their handmade pizzas. Don't let the "size" fool you, they are big enough for two. Fresh ingredients, good toppings. This place makes solid pizzas and has a great beer selection from what I saw. The bartender was amazing, as he handled everyone seated at the bar and at least 5 other tables that all were eating singlehandedly. Great bar. Seemed like everyone knew each other there and was a good locals hang out.

I love everything about Barfly's. We live right around the corner and this has become our go to neighborhood bar. Mike, the owner, is awesome and we've become friends with him and his other great bartenders (Doug, Rory, Zack...) just from visiting so often and chatting while we sit at the bar. The pizza, especially the crust, is unbeatable (try dipping in their homemade dressing too). And last but certainly not least, they always have great craft beer on tap, which they rotate often! If you haven't been yet, you're missing out!

Absolutely the best little spot for dinner or a good drink. The bartenders are always friendly and are great with our little guy when we go in for dinner. Best pizza in town.

Overall pizza was good. The crust is excellent. I could really just eat the crust. I got the BBQ chicken and buffalo chicken pizzas. Cheese and sauce were very good, but my only semi-complaint is that the chicken was bland. Wasn't terrible, just not great. I would come back but probably wouldn't get a pizza with chicken.

We were visiting friends from out of town who took us to Barfly's for pizza. It was great, the owner was super friendly with good service. I would definitely recommend. Loved the pizza crust. Good beer selection as well.

The beer was cold and the pizza was excellent. The salad was tasty too. Make sure to try their homemade salad dressing.

Loud, live music greeted my boyfriend and I when we came here with our two friends who live in the neighborhood. Under our friends' recommendation, we ordered the spinach pizza pie. Bf and I shared the cold cut Italian sandwich. Food was good, and I thought it was nice how the bartenders checked in on us, especially since we were sitting at the bar. I was a little annoyed that after a glass previously filled with Sprite was empty, it was refilled with water. FYI, it seems like a place where the locals frequent.

Went there for Happy Hour on a Friday. When we arrived, we were the only table, but it quickly filled up, and, as it got busier, service (which wasn't that great earlier) got non-existent. Really need to have more than 2 people working. Went whole halves of hours with everyone on our table having empty glasses. That said, the servers were friendly and knowledgeable about the beer. The pizza was okay, a bit dry and bland, but serviceable. Dog Pub and Home Slyce both much better in neighborhood.

Great pizza. Wonderful house dressing to dip the crust. Would definitely return. Great beer selection.

I have been meaning to write this review for a while now. This is possibly my favorite bar in B'more. Mike and his staff are all top notch. I can always count on consistency in both beer and food. The beers rotate and I can always find something that fits my taste. They also keep a nice wine selection on hand. My wife and I are consistent patrons. We will split a pizza and a large salad. The Pizza is just enough for both of us to split. The ingredients are always fresh. The little extra parm cheese and salt on the crust is to me, the best part of the pie. As for the salad, if you get the large there is plenty for two people. You get one choice of dressing which they call "Damn Good Dressing" and trust me it is. Creamy yet light, the mix of herbs and seasoning go well together. We always run into someone we know which gives it a great neighborhood feel. The interior is not too dark but yet not to bright. Comfortable lighting is the best way to describe it. It is a great place to catch the game and specials are offered on game days. When in Baltimore and want to get the hometown vibe stop and say hello to Mike and the gang. Tell 'em Dave Sent Ya!

3 1/2 stars. The pizza is very good and definitely better than Pub Dog or Zella's, which is about all we have around here. My biggest complaint is the draft situation. I feel that their drafts are over-priced for the area and there isn't a wide range of selection. Additionally, the bar and bartenders aren't as inviting as other local establishments. Maybe I should go more often but I'd rather head over to Larry's.

Went a little late with our two small kids- note- this place is NOT kid friendly as Yelp suggests. It's not that they're kid-unfriendly, it's that it's a bar first, and while kids can eat there, it's not somewhere I'd bring them again. We had an issue with our order, and it took over an hour for it to come out. The lady with blonde short, curled hair was VERY sweet and accommodating- she kept us filled in on what was going on, as well as approximately how much longer it would be. The male bartender hardly made eye contact with us when we arrived, and he rushed by us several times, and was pretty rude. The lady on the other hand, was amazing. To her credit, she did get my son's cheese pizza out very quickly, as we had hoped/planned for. It was only okay- there wasn't much sauce on it, and the cheese was browned to a crisp, on top of crispy dough. He ate it though, but it wasn't like some super yummy cheesy pizza. The crust was perfection though- I loved it! Our food finally came out and my white spinach pizza wasn't very good. It tasted like a pizza version of quiche. I wasn't expecting that at all... the buffalo chicken pizza was my favorite. It was just as it should have been, and I'd go back just to order that (IF she was serving us, not the rude guy) My dad had the hot and spicy and he was happy with it. The wings came after our pizza (they were supposed to be an appetizer) and they were good, but nothing to write home about at all. We ate quickly so we could leave soon. I couldn't tell you what beers my dad and brother had, but they were happy with them. The manager or cook came out to personally apologize to us too- that was very nice. I feel bad that they were apologizing so much, but was glad that they were genuine about it. They ended up taking our drinks (a very watery, not-yummy Shirley Temple and a few beers) and the wings off our check. We didn't ask them to do that... honestly it wasn't worth the wait. But they seemed to genuinely care about whatever mistake made us have to wait so long, and because of that, and because of that buffalo chicken pizza, I'll be back. On a date, WITHOUT my kids. :)

A chill, friendly spot with great beer on tap, expert and friendly bartenders, and solid bar fare. Can't say enough good things about Mike and his place. My wife and I had our after-party for our wedding there, and his hospitality and the place's vibe was appreciated by all our guests. Terrific bar.

I like this place, it is a cool hang-out spot in SoBo. It even has formstone on the inside! Good beers, and good service too. And it seems to have a nice 30 something crowd, which is a good find in the Fed Hill area. As far as food goes, it is pretty good, but not amazing. It is getting hard for a pizza place to distinguish itself on the SoBo pennisula, as there are at least five upscale ones now within a mile of each other. This is deep dish, which I guess is a somewhat different. I should note that the italian bread is just a roll with butter and garlic on it that is toasted, which looks like something I would have made for myself in college.

Let me tell you how it is. 1) Barfly's basically offers three things on their menu that you need to know about: salads, stuffed subs, and pizza. If you've never had a stuffed sub before, you need it. In your mouth. Now. The antipasto salad is amazing (and they have a pretty great house dressing) and their pizzas have the best thick crispy crusts. The Boy thinks the crust sort of resembles sourdough, which I don't know, might be right? Either way, it's good. 2) On Mondays, all drinks are $3.50. That's right, $3.50. Except for like, bombers. Which is fine because that's still an awesome deal. 3) If you can't find street parking, you're usually guaranteed to be able to park at the Shoppers lot and walk over. Also, the bartenders are awesome. Tip them well.

I'm here to balance out the reviews. I really like Barflys! It's a neighborhood hang, filled with locals, just the kind of place I like to visit when traveling. So here's my reasons for liking Barfly's: 1. Because one of my favorite SF hangouts was named Barfly. 2. The bartender was super friendly! 3. Most importantly, I LOVE Barfly's because they served a damn good cannoli. It was huge, it was fluffy and it ended my trip on a great note! Baltimore, you sure know how to serve a dessert in a bar, kudos!

Great personal pan style pizza! The crust is almost like buttery garlic bread. Decent beers on tap, wine and liquor selection...service is always attentive and friendly!

I love Barfly's. I'm a recent convert. My roommate and her boyfriend have been going forever, but only recently have they started dragging me along. And thanks to them for that--this place is awesome. It isn't ever too crowded--even on Friday, during prime happy hour time, there's room to move and never a line for the bathroom. The drinks are priced on the same level as the rest of the neighborhood, but they've got great beers on tap. I enjoyed SEVERAL Franziskaners on Friday. Their pizza is world-class, with this great Parmesan crust thing going on, and it's served with this awesome garlicky salad dressing. The bartenders are great, the atmosphere is friendly. This place is the perfect bar.

Barfly's In addition to being my favorite Mickey Rourke movie is also my favorite Locust Point bar. Chill friendly staff (see Dyana she's the best) and a comfy clean bar environment. A perfect amount of TVs tuned to relevant sporting events and great classic/modern rock playlist. The food is soul warming pizza and sausage/meatball rolls that you can customize to your hearts content as well fresh salads (get some dressing to go too). BUT THAT'S NOT ALL!!! The reason to go is their smart, rotating, draught selection for the true beer aficionado; Including an impressive selection of bottles. If you hate the pretentiousness of micro brews they got you covered with your favorite macros bud/miller etc.... It's not delivery, it's not DiGiorno, it's BARFLY'S!!!

Shrimp salad sandwich on Thursday is amazeballs. The crust of their pizza is like a soft virgin- unadulterated and delicious. Enjoy my friends.

I checked out Barfly's on a friends recommendation and I have to say, this place did not disappoint. Atmosphere was great, very clean and inviting. There were three big TV's at the bar showing the college football games but they were not overbearing. Service was attentive and very friendly. There were some interesting microbrews on tap, including Tupper's Hop Pocket Ale which I haven't seen around very much. Prices are reasonable. The pizza is fantastic. They only come in one size, but two 10" pies was more than enough for the three of us. I'm not usually a fan of the deep-dish style, but this is an exception. The crust was light and perfectly cooked, not doughy. The cheese was fresh and not overloaded, and the sauce and toppings were tasty. I'll definitely be stopping by Barfly's again.

What a great neighborhood bar. Nothing pretentious, very comfortable atmosphere pizza was as good as any place in Baltimore. Salad was fresh and tasty. Perfect neighborhood bar and worth the drive to Fort Ave. Will go again and again.

The first time we went to Barflys, the service was fine and the pizzas were quite good. The second time, the service was horrible (we waited 90 minutes for two pizzas) but the pizzas were good - once we got them.
