This place has great, cheap, fresh Peruvian food!! tried the half roasted chicken with fried plantain and boiled cabbage, served with yellow huincaina sauce like the potatoes and a spicy green sauce, both on the side. all was perfect!! they have Inka Cola, of course. good to try if you have not.. a fast food style order at the counter place, very popular, lunchtime seating is at a bit of a premium.. a but surprising to find this in a part of Maryland that feels kinda 'murica.

Awesome Peruvian chicken, fried plantains and everything in between. This place is always busy around lunch time and for good reason. Don't bother with anything else on the menu, get a quarter chicken with rice and fried plantains and you will not be disappointed. If you are in the area visiting APG, it's a must stop for lunch.

The chicken, plantains, and rice were delicious! Definitely coming here again. :)

DELICIOUS POLLO A LA BRASA!!!! The Pollo a la Brasa here is to die for! I was recommended this place by a colleague when I first came down to work in APG. I am from Jersey and it has the largest population of Peruvians in the country, so I'm pretty sure I've had my share of peruvian dishes and pollo a la brasa (and needless to say my boyfriend is Peruvian). This little place on Rt 40 is definitely a diamond in the rough. There are very few decent ethnic places (if any) to eat in Aberdeen, and this is by far the best place to eat in the APG area, and the best pollo a la brasa I have had. The places I have had from Jersey don't have the delicious unique seasoning SCR puts on their chicken. When you get your chicken, you can tell it is fresh out the rotisserie, because its VERY juicy. Everything else on the menu is another story. I am not much of a fan of the sides. The rice and plantains are tasteless, the fries soggy, and corn is corn. The sandwhiches are not what I expect to be "Peruvian" (but I am not an expert at Peruvian food), and will EASILY be picked over the pollo a la brasa. They recently got Alfajores - my favorite Peruvian treat. They don't seem to be freshly baked there, probably bought from a bakery. The filling had that "refrigerated" taste. Not so good, but it will do the job until I can get my tastebuds on some freshly baked ones. Definitly worth the try if you have never had it. Its basically a shortbread cookie sandwhich with dulce de leche filling sprinkled with powdered sugar. The prices are great, the staff is great. ALWAYS ask for extra sauces, they are YUM. Don't forget to add a can of Inca Cola to complete the Peruvian meal.

This place is one of our favorites in the area. Very tasty chicken! Been here more than several times and they are consistent. Love the plantains, chicken, rice, sauce! Kids really enjoy their burritos. We always take to go. Small spot, small seating. Good food.

love this place. a great deal for a delish meal. it's not fancy, just good home cooking.

The family chicken dinner is impossible to beat for both the flavor and the value.

Great rotisserie chicken and good portion sizes (the burrito is definitely a two-meal deal for most folks) combined with freshness... What's more can you ask for? Prices are at the high end of "fast" (though not mass-produced) food but cheaper alternatives are often just cheap.

I was exiled in Aberdeen for two weeks and not a whole lot in the area to choose from. I came across this spot through word of mouth and was pleasantly surprised. I am no stranger to Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken and this was on par with the competitive areas of Arlington and Falls Church, VA. The sides could have been better (beans were a little soupy, the rice was a bit on the sticky side, the plantains were a bit dry, corn was acceptable) but for the price it was great. Would have given it five stars if it had competition in the area that it stood head and shoulders above. Highly recommended.

My husband loves to go here for lunch with his coworkers from Edgewood. He ordered me a to-go plate and I ate it at home. The chicken has great flavor and seasonings. I was a fan of the beans but not the rice.

This place is excellent. Get the quarter chicken meal with the two sides.. I ate here two days in a row for lunch and would have gone by it one more time if I could have! So don't get the sammiches and go for the 1/4 chicken.. 1/2 chicken if your really hungry!

Best mouth watering rotisserie chicken I have ever had. Great stop for lunch, its a little out of the way for me personally but definitely worth the trip.

Peruvian food? In Aberdeen? Yes, yes, and not only is it tasty- it is also reasonably priced. Around $8 for a giant chicken burrito (including guac!) and a drink. Also, the half-chicken meal with two sides and the chicken sandwich and fries meals are worth coming back for. This place is almost always swamped at lunch time from APG employees because there were only two guys running it, but it is getting better now that they appear to have hired a third person to help.

  • Jason P.

Don't let the location fool you - the food here is excellent and the prices are right. The chicken is very tasty seasoned well and cooked leaving it all very moist. The 6.50 special is perfect and includes a soda. Very few places for this much food for this price. This is definitely a hidden gem for Aberdeen Proving Ground employees

This was a nice stop for lunch, albeit a little far from the highway. We got chicken sandwiches as suggested in a review. They were pretty solid but I think next time I'm getting one of the half chickens with rice and beans I saw everyone else getting.

  • Kori Y.

Wow, the best lunch spot in Aberdeen area. Fair pricing, and great food. Come hungry 1/2 a chicken and 2 sides for lunch wow.

  • Ruben P.

Was looking for a place to eat by APG that was NOT Burger King. Found this little gem and am quite happy. Friendly service, prices are about right, and food is great! The fries were a bit undercooked during my first visit. I asked for a chicken sandwich and expected it on a roll. It came out on a sub roll but at first bite my eyes lit up with excitement. Place could be a little cleaner and the staff could dress like they give a damn but that all really doesnt matter. The food is good. Period.

You've gotta try this place. The roasted chicken is just amazing. So juicy and flavorful! And the plantains are cooked perfectly as well. The rice and beans are good too. And you can't beat $23 for a whole chicken, 2 large sides, and 2 bottled sodas!

  • Jenny L.

Great place for grabbing lunch in the afternoon. Definitely a crowd rush. Came with two others- had the 1/2 chicken rotisserie lunch combo with two sides, yucca and plaintains. Chicken was oily as expected. Liked both sides! My friend never had fried yucca before and loved it.

  • Joshua P.

Definitely a location worthy of checking out in the Aberdeen/Belcamp area. During lunch time the line can stretch out the door, but the chicken (anything chicken) is worth the wait.

Best kept secret in Aberdeen. Why go anywhere else for lunch. Amazing chicken, great prices and Inca Cola . How can you go wrong

Look, I'm not a food snob. I'm the furthest you can probably get from it--if it tastes good, didn't make me sick, and didn't cost me my first born, I consider it a winner. That said, Super Chicken Rico hits all of those points. The food is very good--if you haven't had Peruvian chicken, go somewhere else first so you can come here and taste what it should be. The 1/4 and 1/2 chicken specials are a very good value for what you get. The sandwiches are delicious. My only advice? Get there early--boy does it get crowded at 12PM.

  • Belynda H.

Loved it! Chicken is the best! Yellow rice and beans great and Inca Kola is so tasty!!! Don't forget the green sauce!!

Always a sure thing, food is always amazing. We had planned on using a Groupon and eating at Chicken On The Roof but we walked in there, took a look around then walked out and high tailed it to Super Chicken Rico.

  • Sean M.

The best chicken. Sets the bar for rotisserie chicken. If you want half a chicken and sides, then there is almost no wait. The line moves quickly and other customers rotate quickly so seating isn't a problem. A must try if you either work on APG or are TDY for the week.

Super Chicken Rico is a Peruvian roasted chicken shop. For awhile that was pretty much it. They have since expanded the menu. I end up going there at least once a month. My daughter, who has never even seen the place, requests it monthly as well. The guys I work with were talking about Crack Chicken when I first started working there. I'm a bit of a foodie some I'm thinking something weird like Peking Duck only with chicken. Turns out it's Crack Chicken because it's so addictive. The 1/4 and 1/2 chicken can be ordered in either white, dark, or both. Come with 2 sides. While pretty good, the burrito is the way to go. It's about the size of your head. I've no idea the calorie count nor do I want to know. I'll make up for it next time and order a 1/4 with green beans and cabbage. Next time.

One of my favorite lunch spots in the area. The charcoal grilled chicken is great and they have amazing sides. The fried yucca, rice and beans and fried plantains are great. Definitely an awesome non-chain restaurant that serves quick and provides great food. They also have inca cola!

I've been to this location as well as the one in Baltimore. This place is much smaller. It tastes like the same recipe as in Baltimore, but the rotisserie chicken was very slightly not as blackened. Then again, I went in during lunchtime. I think that the prices may be a little bit lower here too. The portions here are equally as large. I ate the rotisserie chicken with fried yucca, plantain bananas, and corn tortillas, with a coconut water (with pulp) drink.

Had the chicken wrap was very tasty and the bread was soft for $2.50. Next time ill ask for fresh French fries the gave me some from under the heat lamp yuck.

I've been batting pretty high on my cross-country drive as far as finding good local restaurants goes, but this place is a major highlight. I found it as I was despairing of there being any good restaurants in this small town, but I pulled out Yelp and saw that this place on the highway had almost five stars. Upon entering, I discovered a very plain but totally food-focused restaurant with a big chicken rotisserie machine and a spread of Peruvian sides that all looked way above-par. I ended up getting a 1/4 chicken, plantains, beans, braised cabbage, and fries, and it was all TOP NOTCH. I don't even eat chicken usually but this chicken was worth getting. And everything else was fabulous. Thank you Super Chicken Rico.

This chicken is excellent! Just like the Peruvian places I frequent in Camp Springs. Make sure you get the yellow sauce

  • Nabeel S.

My go-to restaurant when I don't bring lunch to work. I always get 1/4 or 1/2 chicken with 3 sides: fries, rice, and beans. It never fails me, absolutely delicious every time. They are reasonably priced (about $11 for the meal I get with a drink) and it's pretty clean. All in all, great restaurant.

    (5)
  • Jef C.

After coming here more frequently for a hearty, hot meal, I realized 3 stars just does not do Super Chicken Rico justice. Try the rice & beans and mix that whole ramekin of jalapeno purée in to maximize it's flavor potential. I still haven't had the opportunity to try the lomo saltado, but their chicken really is juicy and well seasoned, especially when doused in El Tapatio hot sauce. There's usually a 3-5 person line at lunch time, but it moves quickly. They do a good job of keeping the dining area clean.

  • Nay P.

With limited choices for lunch, I was thrilled after my first experience here. I got the quarter chicken meal with two sides and drink for $7.00. My side were rice and plantains. They have a lot of other sides to choose from. It was so DELICIOUS!! They give a lot of food for the price. I want to try the big fat burrito next.

  • Daniel B.

Best food in aberdeen (not saying much, but very good) at a good price. If you get there late for lunch (after 11:30), table space is hard to come by.

    (5)
  • Steve T.

Nothing special if you've ever been to any type of Super, King, Supreme, or Grande Pollo. Good Peruvian style chicken at a cheap price. I got 1/2 a chicken, 2 sides, and a soda for $11. This place only had one channel on the TV, which was tuned to a soccer game. It's across the street from a shady motel, in the not-so-nice neighborhood, but it felt safe. It's the only type of Peruvian chicken place in the area though, so you won't find much better. I've heard this chain is one of the originals though, so I gotta give it props for that.

  • Pri P.

Food here is delicious. Great stop for lunch but the line gets long around 11:30. My fav is the Big Fat Burrito. This takes a while cuz they make it in the back (usually 10 mins cuz they shorten the line prior to making ur food; unfair, I know) but the wait is worth it. The Golden Cola is good also.

  • Sean D.

Nice place. The roasted chicken was excellent... Very flavorful. The rice and beans on the side were just as good. The prices are very reasonable.

After reading the reviews on yelp, I had to try this ethnic food. I went with my fiancee and we shared the 1/2 chicken plate which comes with 2 sides. The chicken was pretty good and for sides we had corn tortillas and corn. It was all good and a pretty filling but light meal for 2 people. The place is pretty bare but it has plenty of seating. The parking area is pretty small though and consists of a few spots on an incline in front of the shopping strip. Overall pretty good and someplace we will go again.

  • Michael J.

Good Value, Good food! A must try if your in the area.

    (4)
  • Katharine T.

    A) This place is really cheap B) This place is really good C) This place has ethnic food in Aberdeen 1/4 chicken + a soda + 2 sides for $6.50 And they don't give you shit about using a credit card. Come in a bit early, the lines can get long. The chicken is absolutely amazing, appears to be cooked with real charcoal. The orange rice is absolutely divine (and possibly really unhealthy). They have fried yucca and plaintains and beans and yuuuuuuum. Don't be scared away by the campy name. Located in the mini-plaza... something's corner.

  • Mike C.

This is one of the best lunch places I've ever been to, and certainly my favorite in the APG area. I usually get the quarter chicken with rice and beans, and it never disappoints. The seasoning on the chicken is delicious. The best part for me is the value of this place; you can get a plate LOADED with great food that will fill you up for $8, less than most of the other lunch places in Aberdeen. Definitely check it out if you're in the area!

  • Dave C.

This place rocks! Come early so u can get the chargrilled chicken when its hot and fresh and before they run out. I came at around noon, and the lines were already forming and many of the sides were already gone. I tried the chicken white rice which had a hint of curry or something asian and is sooo gooood. The fried yuca with green pepper sauce will blow your mind away. I take that back, anything with that green pepper sauce is win. And finally, of course the chicken was fricken awesome. I got the 1/2 chicken (comes with both light and dark meat) which turned out to be too much even for me!! Just means more leftovers i suppose. The 1/4 chicken is enough for most average ppl. Oh and get the Inka soda its like cream soda with bubblegum flavoring. Gasp!! All and all for the price and quantity nothing really comes close in that area of MD. I mean ive been to some places in nyc, like pio pio which i think are not as good as here. Go!

  • Danielle W.

The chicken was so delicious, seasoned so perfect.....The plaintains were fried and insanely good! The price was right for the amount of food I had but get there early if you going for lunch....it gets crowded fast!! Enjoyed a great meal with great people!!

Delectable 1/4 of Peruvian Chicken with 2 sides ( I love the rice and beans but it all looks tasty) and a soda for 6 bucks. Totally made my day. Never had chicken this good. The two sauces it comes with are the perfect garnish too. Not to mention soccer on the TV's while you eat. Enjoy!

  • Nic L.

This place is not Mexican--I was told Peruvian. The fried plantains were delicious, as was the 1/4 chicken, rice, and fried yucca I tried. So inexpensive yet tasty. A very simple place in a strip mall, but actual ethnic food-looking forward to trying something else on the menu. A green sauce and a mustard sauce came with the food, good. My boyfriend had the 'Big Fat Burrito' and pronounced it good, but heavy on the sour cream type sauce. Wish the menu was a little more varied, but a good find and I will be returning.

I LOVE this place. My hubby and I share a whole chicken meal and take some home. The chicken is amazing and I love the two side sauces. I mix the two sauces together before dipping. You gotta try this tucked away, secret place. Im a regular.

I ordered the pork chops, white rice and plantains. You will not be disappointed with this place!

There's a cruel fact of life that not too many people are willing to acknowledge or admit and that is the food in Aberdeen - in general - sucks. To make matters worse, Belcamp is practically a food desert so lunches are tough for me. I've never had Peruvian food before so I don't have a baseline, but I do know good food. My latest pregnancy has caused me to develop a regular craving for ethnic cuisine. When I saw the yelp reviews for this place, I knew I had to go. Popped in to Super Chicken Rico at 12 pm on a Thursday and the line. was. long. Aside from the ladies working the counter, I was the only female in the place. Clearly, all of the employees on APG and students at the nearby tech campus are clued in to the awesomeness that is SCR. All around me were nerdy guys talking about electronics and programming and networking, but luckily the line moved fast. When I got to the front of the line, the woman behind the counter grabbed a whole chicken and butchered it quickly into quarters. Her tongs hovering above, she asked what I wanted for lunch. I ordered 1/4 chicken, Mexican rice, and plantains and paid $7 and some change for it. Didn't get a soda although I probably should have. I'd never had plantains before and was super excited but I thought they were overrated. I was hoping they'd be.. crunchier.. they were mushier than expected, and I just didn't really care for them. Next time, I'm going for the cabbage. The rice was tasty but the real star of the show was the chicken - as it should have been. Very flavorful, moist, cooked perfectly - exactly what rotisserie chicken should be. The seasoning really hit the spot and satisfied my ethnic craving. To make it even more amazing, they served it with a side of delicious yellow something. The green something (I read a prior review - jalapeno puree? No wonder it burned my face off.) was too spicy for me so next time I'm going to do what the guy in front of me did and ask for two yellow sauces, no green. And believe you me, there WILL be a next time. :)

Having had phô for lunch, I thought why not try the other place in town I've been wanting to find (it's hidden in a strip mall), and I wound up with their Lomo Saltado, which is beef with onion and tomato over rice and french fries. They didn't have the ceviche ready, but that's okay. Maybe it's because I haven't had any Peruvian or Cuban food since I left Georgia but I found the food here to beexcelltent :) The steak just melted and was as tender as it could get. The veggies complemented everything well, and by the time I finished there was little left. There's another Super Chicken Rico down the road on the way to Edgewood; I'l try them later in the week or next weekend, for a comparison.

My go to place other than Carsin's Run while I lived in Aberdeen. The owner here is very genuine and friendly. The chicken here is roasted the Peruvian way. If you are looking for something good and in the mood for some ethnic food. This is your place. Let's be real though, it is 4 stars for Aberdeen. It may hold a candle to the other Peruvian restaurants, but if that was the case the review would be 3 stars.

  • BigDaddy A.

I've been here twice. About a year between visits. I forgot to review it the first time and I'm happy to give 5 stars this time. If you're looking for great food this is the place!

  • Tom S.

The food is great the lines are long but they nickel and dime you for every little thing they have things on the menu that do not carry they have side orders they want to charge you extra for if you want a small thing of hot sauce they want to charge you $0.50 nickel and dime at first when they open they bent over backwards but now that they have a lot of business they don't seem to care about the customer that much like they used to

  • Amy R.

This is a great place to pick up a quick meal. We always get the 1/2 chicken meal with 2 sides. LOVE the rice and beans! And the yellow sauce is like crack! SO GOOD! In addition, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful.

Best chicken sandwich I've ever had, anytime I go near this place I stop in. Not sure of the cheese they use but wow it's Amazing. The sandwich will fill you up don't understand it because I can consume some food.

Wow!!!! 2 nights in a row and counting... 1/2 chicken amazing. Red potato amazing. Ranch sauce best ever, chicken sub. Off the hook! This is an ace in the hole. Drain a 35ft putt to win the masters then go here.

  • Ben J.

I'm somewhat taken-aback by how overrated all these Yelp reviews are. The audience in Aberdeen is easy to impress. I've eaten 5-star Peruvian food. This is not it. But it's probably the only decent Peruvian food option for 20+ miles, so it fulfills a purpose dutifully. The food options are decent. Peruvian dine-in/take-out restaurants in MD follow a very similar model, line-up and fill your plate or styrofoam box with chicken and sides. Get a drink and you're good to go. The chicken is good but not great. The sides are very disappointing as the Yuca is generally very dry and tasteless, the plantains are not given in sufficient proportions, the mixed veggies are bland...it's disappointing overall. But as said, it fulfills a purpose. The bathroom is okay. Seating is limited for lunch rush. The parking options are limited but sufficient most of the time. The atmosphere is acceptable. Remember folks, 5-stars is supposed to be the best you can get. With affordable prices, this place is worth visiting once every other month. But there are so many better options for Peruvian food throughout MD and DC.

After all the great reviews we decided to stop here for lunch on our way to Baltimore, and we are glad we did. I would call this Peruvian junk food, so be ready for a fatty splurge. It tastes really good, but there was a pool of liquid grease in my takeout container after I finished my sandwich. My husband and I shared both the Chicken Rico sandwich and a chicken BBQ sandwich. The style of sandwich reminds me of po' boys, if you're familiar with Cajun food. They were similar, both with the roasted chicken, ranch dressing, lettuce, onion, tomato, on a soft roll, and add bbq sauce for the bbq one. The french fries weren't great but we did go after the lunch rush so maybe they rushed a new batch for us? They weren't crispy and got a lot of the fatty oil from the sandwich on them in my takeout container. I regret that we didn't try the plantains or some of the other menu items, but we will go back next time we head south. The staff was very friendly and food was made to order very quickly (we were there between 1 and 2pm on a week day). The restaurant was clean and organized when we were there. I am posting a couple photos of the menu because I had such a hard time finding anything for them online (no website nor menu page). Another Yelper put a menu up but I could barely read it.
