Awesome cafe that is much bigger than it looks from the outside, tucked in a plaza near the ShopRite. Have been here for lunch only but the service was excellent and the portion big enough that I had to bring leftovers home. And did I mention the free dessert with every meal? Give Mamie's a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Went to this place for dinner last night with my cuz who was visiting the base nearby. I chose this place based on the positive reviews on yelp. I concur! J

You would never know just how good this place is from the shopping center parking lot, but I strongly encourage you to go inside. WOW - talk about a nostalgic type of diner, with lots of really good comfort food. They really nailed it. The food is good, home-style kind of cooking, and the portions are right. The service was very friendly too. I'm not sure what else you need to know, but go here.

We are staying nearby Mamies and we saw it online so thought we would give it a try well it made the list..We have a list of places that we want to re visit when we travel back and forth to Florida..And this place just gave us enough for two meals each get the ribs you won't be sorry and if you order the fries be prepared to get enough for the whole family...But they are so good..Home made..And after we got the free dessert we choose the brownie. We haven't had it yet,, we are going to have it later on with a cup of hot tea in our room...Can't go wrong with this pace.. we loved it.. And we went on a Sunday night and when we got there the place was packed. I guess they had so many customers that when I wanted the 1/2 Baked chicken with BBQ sauce they ran out.. So I have the pork chops very good too...But we shared I gave my husband the chop and he gave me a rib...OMG fall of the bone d=licious....::-) A big plus was my grand kids call me mammy so had to go... and glad we did...

We are from San Diego and loved the food here. The service is great and everything was just wonderful! Free dessert and out of this world turkey!

While in town for business, my coworkers and I decided to check this place out based on the seafood-laden menu and the reviews here and at Urban Spoon. Excellent choice! Michael, our server, was exceptional. The food was great, too. I'm not a big seafood eater but I'm slowly trying new items. Here at Mamie's, I got the broiled orange roughy (on the extensive list of daily/seasonal specials). It was fantastic. I also had the baked potato and broccoli which were both good although I'd prefer the broccoli to be a little more crispy (slightly less steamed). Still, it was better than I've gotten at most restaurants. Desserts were included. The rice pudding was great. It appears to be a family-operated restaurant. I would definitely steer another group of people to come here again if I'm back in Aberdeen.

A year to year restaurant. Unfortunately this year was ruined by bad service. There was no host upon walking in and then the bus boy was working double as the host. He tried to sit us at an un-cleaned table. When disagreeing in his choice of seating he told us to pick our own seat, which seemed somewhat inexperienced. Last year I ordered the mamie's seafood marinara with fra diavolo sauce. It was absolutely exquisite and spicy. This year I ordered the same but my mother ordered it as well but with regular marinara sauce. The waitress forgot which one had the diavolo sauce on it and gave my dish to my mother. After tasting the dish with the marinara sauce it tasted the same but was somewhat weak in spice. I figured it was they just were saving money by not making it so spicy. But besides that it tasted pretty good. My mother had a couple bites of the diavolo sauce and it ruined her pallet and made her lose her appetite. So the waitresses absent minded thinking ruined the dinner for my mother. Even though my mother had only taken maybe three forkfuls and stopped and even after we told the waitress what happened, she still charged us for it. She then acted very obnoxious and preoccupied with something else. Most likely won't be going back or will at least ask for a different waitress.

Food is very good, homestyle, and plentiful. Desert is free, and they'll hound you to eat it, whether you want it or not, just like at grandma's house.

Who could hate on this place? The service is fast. They got us out of there in about an hour for lunch. The busboy will refill your water before you knew what hit you. The atmosphere is a little chaotic. There are random pictures and things on the wall. I think there is a story behind, like Mamie's husband was in the Navy, which is why there is Navy pictures everywhere. The food there is excellent, reasonably priced (about $9 for a large hot sandwich). I had a Reuben and it was huge. They also offer free dessert, which is cool. Brownies are OK, rice pudding is excellent. Recommend Mamie's Cafe. You will not leave hungry.

We were driving on 95 south, and hunger struck. We were intrigued by the reviews on yelp while looking for crab cakes north of Baltimore. I checked out the menu online and was excited to see that free dessert was included with every meal. Twenty-two miles later we exited on route 22 for lunch. Mamie's Cafe is on a strip mall next to ShopRite so there's plenty of parking. Inside, the decor was filled with old Maryland memorabilia. They look cooly authentic. About the food... sadly, the quality was mixed. Corn fritters -- Delicious! Freshly fried. Great texture and just the right amount of sweetness. Crab cake platter -- OK. A little dry. Mamie' Special platter (crab cake and shrimp salad) -- Meh. Petit crab cake was dry with fillers. Shrimp was overcooked! Cold bread. Spaghetti and meatballs -- Average. The sauce was tangy, earthy. The pasta was overcooked. The gravy to pasta ratio was off. Rice pudding -- Yummy. Creamy and not too sweet; sprinkled with cinnamon. Brownie -- Good. Closer to a cookie.

Try the Mamie's Favorite - Triple Decker Shrimp Salad and Crab Cake Club! Ya kinda pricey that's why they get 4 out 5 stars but we are talking about 2 seafood meats so that is pretty good price. The menu is extensive it was actually quite hard to choose cause there were so many options. The inside decor was bleh kinda reminded me of hoarders just all over the wall. The service was kinda slow so if you only have an hour lunch break you will be late!

I wish they would get the title of the restaurant corrected because it is officially Mamie's Cafe With Love and boy do they put the love into their dishes! This place is so hip, ecclectic, and cool on the inside that it just makes you feel right at home. The servers and bussers are super friendly and make sure you are well attended to. If you have seen the Food Network show, "Diners, Drive-In's, and Dives" this is the type of place you would find featured on that show! Now the food. All I can say is WOW! We shared the crab ball appetizer, there were three of us, and they just were delicious. The crab meat was huge lups and fried to a golden brown! They only had 5 for 9.95 so I thought they could have throw in 6 for that price, but still, they were awesome sauce good! I had a basically the Philly cheese steak since we were isiting my sister and I have always wanted to try a real Philly(I live in SC) and it was just all I had hoped it would be. Tons of thin cut steak with local Provolone chees all gooey and melty! The hoagie was locally baked too and it made the complete package. Now for the grand finale I must share. My sister talked my mom into sharing the Pot Roast platter and let me just say I have eaten at a lot of places across America but I have NEVER seen portion sizes like this!!! My sister and her husband eat here alot and now I know why. The plates came with tons of roast, carrots and peas pile high over a MOUNTAIN of mashed potatoes!!! My mom who is 72 had no hopes of eating all that and it was just half the serving!!! I was just amazed. She said all the dinners and lunch platters were like that. I told our server I wished they would open one in SC!!!! We are here for a few more days and I plan on eating at Mamie's Cafe With Love again before we head home to SC. Please, if near Aberdeen, MD and you want to be well fed for your money, EAT AT MAMIE'S! Oh yeah, did I mention EVERY meal comes with FREE desert?? WELL, IT DOES!! The Oreo Brownie was 5x5 inches!!!! FOR FREE!

Some pro and some con to this place. I saw the average 4 star and it is a local business so we checked it out. Portions are huge. I ate until I was full and still had what I would consider a full portion left on the plate. Dessert comes free with the meal, so that is a plus as well. I was underwhelmed by the taste. I had the Chicken Marsala and found it to be bland, the chicken was chewy, and the mushrooms were too raw, as if they were added after cooking rather than simmering in the sauce. The decor is eclectic, like what you would expect from a visit to Grandma's house. The folks are very friendly. I would likely give them another chance, and try something else. Not what I expected from the ratings and reviews.

This restaurant is a definition of home cooking! The food is delicious and the portion sizes will give you 2nd ' s or 3rd's, and is topped off with an ever - changing complimentary dessert. The decor will definitely steal your attention and they go all out for holiday decorating! This is a MUST stop if you are in the area!

I can't say much more than what everyone else has said. The place is eclectic. It gets really busy at lunch. Even busier at dinner. Their turkey sandwich is smack your momma good. If you don't understand the reference I will explain. Go to Mamie's Café. Have their open face turkey sandwich with fries. Enjoy your sandwich. Drive to your momma's house and smack her (not hard, it's your mom). She never cooked that good. My mom sure didn't.......

Just to clarify misinformation from a previous reviewer. The restaurant is named in honor of the owner's immigrant British grandmother. It is pronounced Mame (nickname for Mary), not Mammie. Mamie, Mary Murray Weber came to this country, worked very hard to send money and food to her family in England during WWII . Brenda Weber, the owner, is a hard working woman as well. APG Reviewer you should check your facts before spreading misinformation.

I can't go wrong with Mamie's Cafe. The owner is a sweetheart. The portions could feed a person for a week. The taste is like going home to Grandma's.The music and decor is fun. The wait staff are always on top of there game. When I've arrive for take-out, someone always volunteers to help me carry the bags of food to the car. They treat customers like family.

Love this place. Meals taste like good home cooking! Almost feel like they don't charge enough for their meals. You just get so much food and a free dessert to top it off. I love their brownies. I stop by here whenever I am in the area and will always keep doing so.

Here's the deal with Mamie's Cafe: we went because we wanted free dessert and because the reviews on Yelp were stellar. It has an interesting vibe inside, and you can tell that the owner has poured a lot of themselves into the decor. The hallways to the bathrooms is covered in old photos and immigration documents from relatives. The dining room has lots of carousel music boxes in it. There are also a lot of posters and signs made to look old. The food was good, but not spectacular. The place was packed. The portions are gigantic. You deserve two free desserts if you can finish what you order.

While in Aberdeen for over two and half weeks I had the pleasure of eating here over 3 times.. - Broasted 1/2 Chicken with Mash.. Awesome - Rock Game Cornish Hen - Awesome - Doube Crab Cake Platter All of the meals were very good and the service was excellent.. Also Mamies has pictures of the thousans of men and woman from the area, including those that work there that have served in the US Military. From World War II to present day there is a tribute to all of them. Would I go back? Absolutely.

Great atmosphere. Pleasant and quiet enough. The lasagna was amazing, the wings well cooked and covered. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The desserts were complimentary and were delicious. Locally owned. Clean all around and the staff was pleasant and non intrusive. I recommend highly.

Had dinner at Mamie's tonight after seeing the good reviews and disappointment is not the word. I ordered the fried seafood combo and specifically asked if I could get it without oysters and scallops and was told I could and could get extra shrimp. When my food arrives it in fact has oysters and scallops so the waitress took them and said my extra shrimp were cooking only to come back 20 minutes later and be told that the cook said he already gave me extra shrimp. Makes no sense because why would he put the extra shrimp AND oysters AND scallops? It was a lie. I asked for the manager and she did nothing but repeat the lie! The string beans were also cooked in bacon and there was no notification of that on the menu either and I am allergic to pork. Beware of this place!

Excellent stop 90 seconds off of interstate 95!!! A huge menu... But the specials rule. My wife had poppers and I had the barbecue chicken barbecue ribs combination. The food was plentiful ... we took leftovers home. A GREAT stop when traveling I95 ... Yelp led us there and we really intend to go back as we drive to/from Philly often.

Mamie's was a great find thanks to Yelp. It's BYOB so we brought a bottle of wine to relax after our drive heading back to New England from Florida. It's exit 85 off Rt 95 in Maryland. The food was great. The corn fritters were the best ever. The free brownie dessert was a perfect end. The servers were very attentive. This will be a routine stop for us.

Spending the night in the area and wanted a place where the locals go; Mamie's fit the bill. Went here at peak hour on a Saturday - only had to wait a few minutes for a table. Service was slow and spotty, but it was a busy Saturday night. Food was good, free dessert was a winner! Would love to go back and try some of the other dishes.

myself and my co-worker went here for an early evening dinner. at first impression, the cafe was cozy, eclectically decorated and about half-way full of customers having a great time. one plus was that since it was raining heavily outside and it was already a cool summer evening, the a/c wasn't up full blast, which was SO nice because i wasn't scared of getting sick! onto the food - really nice sized portions and deal that you get for the meal. myself and my friend had the eggplant parm and it was really yummy. the eggplant was firm and tasty, but i wish i could have tasted a bit more of it (it was a bit thin). i like my eggplant parm where you can really taste the eggplant, not just a mushy vegetable mixed with pasta and marinara sauce and cheese. it was still delicious though and the portion was so big that i only had about half of it. yet another plus was that the meal came with dessert and i got their famed rice pudding (which i had to take home to go because i was stuffed!). overall, i would def be back again next time i was in town and craving something homey and cozy. nice job, mamie's! oh and the service was great! :)

Don't know where to start. The pot roast was awesome and place over homemade mashed potatoes. I'm talking milk butter salt the whole thing. Wife had a seafood al fredo that would have made an Italian proud. The portions were enough for two people each. The coffee was excellent. The price service ans atmosphere were perfect.

Truly impressed with dinner menu. Wide selection from seafood to steaks to burgers. All homecooked meals. Plentiful seafood. Lump crabmeat. Jumbo scallops ... and free dessert. Wowww. Homemade chocolate cake. Yummy

I found Mamie's in a search for a non-chain restaurant near my hotel in Aberdeen (not as easy as it sounds) and I was quite pleased! I was traveling solo for work and felt a little out of place asking for a table for one, so I opted for take out. I ordered the lump crab cake, broiled, with potato salad and broccoli. Took about 20-25 minutes for the food to be cooked, but it was definitely worth the wait. The crab cake was huge and had lots of crab in it. It wasn't overly spiced so you could really taste the crab. The potato salad had great flavor, perhaps slightly on the "too much mayo/mustard" side, but delicious nonetheless. The broccoli had great flavor, but didn't hold well as for take out. The broccoli on the bottom got a little too mushy for my liking, but overall I can't complain. My meal also came with an entire loaf of bread and a free dessert. The oreo brownie was delicious! It was the cakey kind, but good and moist. Definitely check out Mamie's if you're looking for a huge, delicious home-cooked meal!

This place is awesome!!! I once knew a Mamie who was a breath of fresh O2 in a sea of CO- gas. Don't let the homely name fool you, this place rocks the best crab and shrimp in the area, bar none. Puts the Inner Harbor, or any other harbor, to shame. All local, all fresh, absolutely fabulous ! I had a cream of crab soup that was richer and thicker than any milkshake that I've had in a long time. I had a crab cake that was the size of hockey puck, no lie. You have to check out this place.

Unfortunately, my Yelp friends and readers most of the time you only hear from me lately when I've had a bad experience. My wife simply adorns this restaurant because the food is always so good. That I can not dispute. But as to service this is another ballgame altogether. My wife and I own businesses of our own. So finding time to go out for nice dinner is always a chore for us. While we were both off today, we still had a lot of running around to do. So we dressed like semi bums(comfortable) did our chores and decided to go out for dinner. Upon entering Mamie's we were greeted by a very nice young man that showed us to our table. Along the way to the table we passed a lady(server by the way she was dressed) who looked us up and down, gave the gentleman a scowl, and then we were shown to a table. After being seated the gentleman took our drink orders, someone brought bread and looked over the menu's. At then entrance there was a list of specials, but no list in menu. After several minutes the woman who scowled at us came to table and said "so what do you want?" My wife had seen pot roast on the special board, attempted to ask about it, "its very good is that what you want" then looked at me and when I asked about a special I was told it was "broiled or stuffed, which do you want" to shocked to voice a complaint I asked for stuffed. Then I was told it came with two sideds, I asked for mashed potato's and then was informed I could get a "salad or soup", "Salad or Soup which do you want?" salad, "dressing?" blue cheese and lady dissappears. At this point I am beside my self with anger. We had wanted to order an appetizer as well but weren't even given the chance. I told my wife I was going to speak with owner about this because I was not going to be treated this way. My wife informed me the waitress was the owner, who at this point showed with my salad, shoved it in front of me and said "Here." and then walked away. So outraged by the fact the owner doesn't care about customers or their experience at the restaurant, I gave my wife money for dinner so she could enjoy her food, told her to have mine wrapped and I was going for a cup of coffee. Because my wife enjoys eating there I didn't want to cause a scene, but I will never set foot inside this establishment again. I run to retail stores, ALL our employees are trained the same. -Every customer is treated with respect. -Every customer is greeted with a smile. -Regardless of how busy we are, every customer gets our time. -Whether it's our customer or another associate we ALL say Hello and How are you? -We thank everyone for coming in. Even if it's for a complaint. -As owners we make sure we talk to as many customers as possible. -Customers pay our bills. One anger/upset customer is not acceptable. Unfortunately it does happen. Maybe if the lady that owns Mamie's took 30 seconds to talk to customers she wouldn't have reviews like this one. I don't care how good the food is, it doesn't make up for being treated like my business and being are irrelevant.

meh. I wasn't really impressed. the portions are enormous but the food didn't blow my mind. it def tastes like a grammas recipe and I could do with more seasoning and without any iceberg lettuce......it wasn't the best quality when we went either. and as far as I'm concerned, the name is really slave-sounding, uck :/

We came here on a whim when we used our GPS to search for a restaurant along our route from New Jersey to D.C. We ended up being very happy we made the stop. Mamie's is tucked away in a strip mall and easy to miss if you have never been there before. We drove right past it the first time. It looks like the sort of place where old church ladies would have brunch (read: kitschy, with a lot of old memorabilia on the walls), although the crowd was a bit more eclectic than that when we were there for an early dinner on a Saturday night. Lots of families, many of whom were clearly regulars. This place has a wide-ranging menu. I ordered meatloaf and my husband had stuffed shells, but they also had surf and turf options, sandwiches, and burgers. The food was solid: basic, simply seasoned, but very well made. The portions are enormous! The entrees come with two veggie sides. I shared my sides and meatloaf with my toddler and still had plenty leftover for dinner the next day. Plus each meal comes with free dessert! I had the rice pudding and my husband had an Oreo brownie and they were both awesome. The prices are incredibly fair. Our meal, which consisted of sodas, a soup, salad, and pasta for my husband, the meatloaf with sides for me, and two desserts, was less than $40 with tip! Amazing! I've paid much more than that for much less at other restaurants. The only reason I'm holding back a star was that the service wasn't great. Most of our service was handled by our bus boy. We didn't want to have to bother him for things--clearly taking our drink and dessert order wasn't his job--but we only saw our actual waiter a couple of times so we had no choice. Each time it was clear that he was in the weeds. In his defense, he obviously had too many big parties on his hands and we just weren't a priority, but it seems like this place must be pretty crowded most of the time, so they probably need to increase the waitstaff to avoid this issue. Overall, though, this was a pleasant surprise and I'll remember it as an option the next time we make the drive north.

Don't pay attention to anyone who gives this place a bad review. You need to go by my review. We stumbled onto this place a couple of years ago after randomly pulling off I-95 a on our way to DC, and we've been planning our trips ever since to make sure it's lunch time when driving through Aberdeen. First, let me say that if you are on a diet you are gonna struggle here...unless the world's greatest turkey sandwich is an option. And I think they have some salads too. Don't come here if you're a vegan or some other similar type of food freak, you won't like it. What they do here really good is comfort food. Ok? I'm talkin' fried. I'm talkin' cheesy. I'm talkin' fatty. I'm talkin' tasty. Burgers. Fries. Pizza. Ruebens. Grilled cheese. Fried chicken. Meat loaf. Meatball parm sandwich. Mac and cheese. Ok? Get the picture? Yummy!!! Our latest trip was for lunch on a Thurs in August. We got there at 12 noon and the place was absolutely packed, we had to wait to sit down. Ok? People don't flock to a place that sucks. And they had LOTS of enormously fat customers. Really, I was amazed at how many morbidly obese customers they have. Seriously. And let's be honest, fat folks know where the good eats are. If I lived in the area, I would try it out for dinner. And I wouldn't be surprised if breakfast is killer here too. But don't hesitate to come over for lunch.

Very well decorated for the holiday. It looked cozy and homey like a mom and pop shop. It was unique. The waiter was nice. But the food was overpriced and not so great. I had the fish with crab cake underneath. The crab cake was good, but the fish had a weird taste, like freezer burn. They do give you free dessert afterward. I had the chocolate cake, it was okay -a bit dry but hey, it's free.

We were thrift-storing around the area and wanted to find somewhere to eat other than TJ McBenApple Gardens. Thank goodness for Yelp! Katherine's review suggested that at the very least, we'd get a half-way decent sandwich. More than that, we also had a delightful experience at a very colorful establishment. I had the shrimp salad sandwich. Although the potato roll could have been a wee bit fresher, the shrimp were large, tasty and firm--not at all mushy for having been mixed up. My husband's soft-shell crab sandwich was a winner, but the crab stuffing in it was so good that he wished he'd actually gone right for the full-on crab cake. The real treat (aside from the free dessert--evil and yummy), was the joint itself. Walls covered in genuine Americana (not prefab stuff). Pictures of the owner's family, and, we found out, of the owner himself right on the menu. When we asked the waiter who the handsome young navy man was, he pointed to a smiling septuagenarian at the back table and said, "Him." He was more than happy to tell us charming stories of back in the day, point out special pictures, give us a little history. It was a nice, personable connection that made the homey food seem truly like home.

Went here the other day with 7 or 8 people. Waitress had no problem splitting the checks for us, and handled it well. Everyone thought their food was good. I ordered the Roast Beef Club (hold the mayo!), which was very good. My friend ordered the loaded french fries, which were deliciously covered in cheese and actual bacon... so good. I'd definitely go back here. After the large quantities of food, we were told that dessert was included! What a deal! I got the red velvet cake, which was very good, but a bit heavy on the frosting. I also acquired a blondie through devious methods (my friend couldn't fit her dessert in her to-go box), which was also very very good.

Great little spot, very interesting decor. Was packed when we got there at 6pm and were seated in about 10 minutes. Menu was full of choices, ended up getting corn fritters - delicious! Stuffed shrimp with crab, yum and rice pudding complimentary for dessert. Great value for the money!

The typical Mamie's experience: * Hope they're not crowded but always are * Hope they don't serve too much but always do * Hope it doesn't take too long but always does * Hope you won't regret eating everything on your plate but always will I do have a different experience than most though: I find the brownies are often dry (neg. one star).

I wound up having lunch here because there weren't many other options in the area for a meal. Little Caesars'? I don't think so... Wendy's really haven't been the same since Dave died. So I found my way to Mamie's.. The interior was decorated with plenty of what seemed to be family photos. This place was extremely crowded, so I decided to order something that didn't have to be cooked so I could make my way home. I ordered a petite sandwich trio.... There was nothing petite about these sandwiches. There were literally three half Kaiser sized rolls. Each had a mountain of shrimp salad, chicken salad, and tuna salad. There's no way that one person could eat this in one sitting. While the tuna wasn't the best quality tuna, all of the sandwiches tasted pretty good. The macaroni salad was ok. I also ordered a cup of crab soup which was very good. Like I said, this is a very busy cafe. If you don't have an hour to spend here, you might want to find another option for lunch. Even though I tried to outsmart the massive crowd waiting to be served a hot meal, I still wound up waiting 35 minutes for my cold sandwiches to takeout. The meals there are either liked because they're good, have huge servings, or both. There are too many tables cramped into this small establishment for my taste though.

mamie's is one of my in-laws favorite places and we go here a lot when we visit them. mamie's feels like your favorite aunt's house with tons of antiques and kitsch decorating the dining room. portion sizes are huge, the food is good and they give you free dessert with every meal. the place tends to get absolutely packed on the weekends and even dinner time on weeknights. the staff are very nice and accommodating - they'll put together tables. at lunch time they have great subs and sandwiches and at dinner they have complete meals like roasted chicken, meatloaf, pasta dishes, and some seafood. i've never had something i did not like from here!

Comfort food at its finest. The food is great and the rice pudding is to die for. Great prices and exceptional service. I can't wait to go again and try more amazing food!

This place was one of a kind! We loved the chotchky decor and handwritten menu. The food was tasty (especially the stuffed shells) and we had such a fun experience in Aberdeen. If you are looking for good culture and good people, come here dinner!

I came here and got the chicken covered with gravy with a side of steamed broccoli and mashed potatoes. The chicken was overcooked, but still edible. The broccoli was delicious but it wasn't typically steamed broccoli since it was covered in butter and salt and pepper. The potatoes were good. The service was great and i was promptly seated and served. The restaurant is nice and homey.

Mamies' Cafe With Love is bonkers good. I was in Aberdeen overnight, driving through on a road trip, and yelped around for the best restaurant in town. I wasn't expecting much, but left with JAW. ON. FLOOR. Best meatloaf I've ever had. Huge crab cakes- fried or broiled- both amazing. The FREE desert was an insane cobbler. Pot roast and ribs also great- I got bites of those. People talk about doggie bags- but I couldn't stop eating, and didn't even feel bad afterwards. The waitress was super sweet too. We got in late night, and she hung out and chatted while we ate, and we were the last customers at 9:30PM. Plus it is always a bonus when a waitress calls you sweetie and honey and all that. Adds to the whole thing. All around the restaurant are pictures of the 4-5 generations of Mamie's family. It's like you wandered into the living room of the world's greatest grandmother, and she's cooking anything for you. Really, anything. The menu is humongous, and apparently everyone in town likes everything on it, so you can't go wrong. The craziest thing is, this place is located in a huge strip mall, neighboring Radio Shack, McDonald's, a Holiday Inn Express... etc. No way should something this authentic, this awesome, be nestled in a sea of strip malls. Apparently Mamie's had to move from its original location- but hasn't missed a beat. If you're in Aberdeen, or driving through- try and call ahead- because apparently the lines can be an hour+ long, I hear... So great that the whole name of the place is "Mamie's Cafe With Love"... Get here!!!!

Good home cooking type meals, very large portions, very filling, and a great welcoming atmosphere. I always leave with leftovers. Their rice pudding is excellent!

OMG, I drive thru Aberdeen and stop for dinner almost weekly. Yet in 5 years i had never been to Mamie's. Yikes what was I thinking. This place is awesome. My waiter Luke was way nice, the food was way good, the atmosphere was way cool. I'll be back. The lump crab balls appetizer was delicious and nearly filled me up. I'm a pretty good eater and can't remember the last time i left food on my plate. I had the Chicken Marsala and could have taken a whole meal home if I'd lived close by. Had to turn the desert down as well. But on top of that it was just really good. Fast service, down home cooking, interesting decor this place had it all. The food was homey not foody but that was ok here. Not quite five stars, not really cheap but solid all the way around. Why didn't anybody ever tell me about this place before? I will definitely be back soon!

On the tip of a friend, we visited Mami's Cafe for dinner. It was a pleasant surprise. With home cooked meals covering the specials board and an eclectic retro decor, the place was was comforting and inviting. Nostalgic smells wafted through the air promising a delicious evening reminiscent of our childhoods. We started with soups that were both thick and flavorful. Home-made was not a question here. For the main course my wife got the "steak & cake", a jumbo lump crab cake and a nice filet mignon. I got the pot roast special. It was served English style with green beans and carrots over a bed of mashed potatoes. Both were incredible and the portions huge. We saved some of our meal to relive the experience in our lunches the next day. The dessert items were limited but they happened to be free. That's right! FREE. Gratis! Complimentary! And that made them even more delicious! There were cakes, brownies, and rice pudding. All of which made me wonder who's grandmother was back there in the kitchen. The servers were friendly and moved with military precision. Bringing us extra napkins and spontaneously re-filling our drinks, it was if they were reading our minds. All restaurants need to take a page from Mamie's book. They have the recipe for a wonderful place. Now, my wife and I can't wait to return. It's our new favorite spot.

I read online reviews before eating at Mamie's which made it sound great. I ordered the famous meatloaf, green beans, cole slaw, and Maryland crab soup. Cole slaw was good, meatloaf was heavily breaded yielding poor consistency and flat flavor and doused with beef flavored canned gravy (yuk!), beans were canned beans and greasy, and soup was salty without good flavor. Overall I was very disappointed and I threw away the meal. Free desert was ready made cake mix. Too many ingredients off the shelf versus homemade.

I don't know if this was an "off" day for this restaurant, but the food was terrible and the service was lacking tremendously! We were greeted and sat down quickly. The greeter brought us our drinks, but we waited awhile to put our order in with the server. Then, we waited 40 min (we were on a schedule, so we timed it) to be served our food. My friend ordered a grilled cheese and tomato sandwich. I ordered a turkey reuben. The turkey was cold, the bread was soggy, so much that it fell apart. The portion was large enough to share. The greeter was the one refilling drinks, so he was on point. Finally, I asked for the check and the server recommended dessert at which point we declined. He said it came with the meal so we took it to go. The brownies were actually the best out of the whole experience. However, not good enough to bother returning.

This place has such a great atmosphere. I LOVE places like this- down homey with lots of great charm. There's meatloaf on the menu, in addition to fried chicken, soft shell crab and other local favs. The stuff on the wall is also from the local thrift stores so there are neat pictures to look at as well. I would like to give this a five, but I'm afraid I just can't do it, but it isn't for the food. Food was off the chain, but beware portions are all-American aka HUGE. I had the fried chicken with a salad, mashed potatoes and super yummy yellow cake, which was included with the price of the meal as is standard at Mamie's (totally awesome because my free slice was totally the size of my face). The reason I am lacking a star is because of the service. The people were so sweet don't get me wrong, but they were slow because they were packed. To be fair that may just have been a fluke or part of the experience because the atmosphere seemed so chill, but still.... The manager was waiting on us in addition to a server who poor thing, was just learning English and was struggling a little bit. Again, so super sweet, amazing food, and incredibly nice, but a little slower than I was looking for.

Attentive staff. Took me even though it was nearing closing. Really good food. I did NOT leave hungry. The mozzarella, basil, and tomato salad with balsamic glaze (caprese) was excellent, a traditional favorite. I ate there during Harford County's food week, so they had a special menu. The chicken and spinach with filled ravioli in Alfredo sauce was a huge portion, and really good. There were definitely other things I wanted to try on the menu, but that will have to be another visit. One I will be looking forward to.

Nice cozy atmosphere, some might call the decor kitschy, but I liked the vibe the place gave. Lovely service made me and the family feel right at home. Lots of food for the price, even getting the free dessert at the end. And yes, the corn fritters are awesome

We just had a delicious lunch at Mamie's. Our family is on the road headed home from vacation. Looking for a quick lunch. Mamie's delivered. They seated our party of six immediately. The atmosphere is very quaint with family photos everywhere. My husband was skeptical about ordering a crab cake sandwich from a restaurant in a strip mall, but was pleasantly surprised. My grilled cheese was possibly the best I've ever tasted. Each meal includes dessert. We were too full to eat dessert, so our waitress offered to pack them up for us. We are looking forward to snacking on them later. Each meal was between $5-15 and well worth it!

It's hard to begin writing about Mamie's Cafe (With Love!). It's the restaurant that Cracker Barrel or Bob Evans wants to be, spread out across the United States. The decor was seasonal decorations that were still placed, as if by your grandmother or mom, and a Valentine's display was still up in March. The photos and frames on the wall were authentically Maryland. A license to show moving pictures in the state of Maryland from 1920. A campaign poster of William Donald Schaefer for governor. Pictures of the Conowingo dam being completed. Our table of six would report back on something new every time someone got up. Our server, Mike who we found out must have been the son or grandson of Mamie, as evidenced by childhood photos of him on the wall, was prompt, friendly, and introduced a new server he was training. We had the choice of a dinner menu and a lunch menu, as well as specials. When asked what was good, Mike not only had about four suggestions, but knew the exact placement of them on the menu. Bread came out first. It was warm, delicious, and kept coming in loafs when we asked. After finishing the bread, we knew this was the right call. The dishes that were recommended centered around seafood. We started with crab stuffed mushrooms, a crab pretzel, and some corn fritters to add some variety. The pretzel and mushrooms were delicious. There was a good combination of crab meat and cheese in proportion to the pretzel. I passed on the mushrooms, but the corn fritters were fantastic. They were very freshly fried and absolutely delicious (thanks fellow Yelpers). The entrees took a little more time to come out, so I wouldn't come if I was in a rush, but we had some time to catch up, so it was perfect for our group. Mike told us: "I hope you guys are hungry because we're about to do a SERIOUS amount of food." He was correct. Only one person finished their dish, and not from lack of interest. I had the crab cake melt, and the crab was flavorful and it hit the spot just right. I wasn't able to finish the meal, but Mike brought over boxes for us and packed up everything so we could go. Even with food packed up, we learned about the free dessert with every meal. I had a taste of all the three options: rice pudding, a brownie, or vanilla cake. I went with rice pudding, because it's not something I have a lot, and it was cool, just sweet enough, and a filling portion for free. The brownie was good, not too chocolatey and sizable. I should have gone with the cake, because the went it came out it almost looked like the consistency of good King Cake. It looked like it was layers, rather than ho hum sponge cake. Overall, everyone just loved the place, from the portions, to the service, and the authenticity that made Mamie's memorable. As one friend said, Everything about this place is perfectly itself.

Mamie's has very good food. I would say it can easily be at a 5 star if you are in the mood for home-style meals. Portions are generous and the food tastes just like mom used to make. They always provide a dessert with your meal which is very nice as well. I have come back to eat here and will continue to do so. I would recommend giving Mamie's a try, at the very least.

We were at Mamie's Cafe on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 for dinner on our way to NJ. I was with my husband and 19-year old daughter who suggested Chick-Fil-A. She was right!!! We should have listened to her. We've used Yelp and relied on it numerous times especially when we are on the road. It has never let us down until Saturday. I agree with most reviewers in giving Mamie's 4-star for its ambience. The place felt homey although in a strip mall. I also agree with most reviewers that their portions are large. This is nice if food is to be desired. I'm very confused and don't understand why the 4-star rating. It deserves maybe a 2-star (this is generous!! considering our bad experience). I ordered broiled flounder with applesauce and broccoli (overcooked) as my 2 sides. Fish was definitely not fresh which left a very fishy after taste. I told our server about it and inspite that, she did not remove the fish from our bill. Neither did she apologize. This establishment left a bad taste in our mouth (no pun intended). The server, although pleasant, did not offer an apology nor tried to correct the situation by removing the bad fish dish from our bill! Our bill came up to $50 and some change + tip. Oh, we still left the server a tip, we did not have the heart not to. Since I cannot eat the fish that I ordered, I ate a portion of my daughter's chicken marsala dish. Portion was huge, it looked good but tasted 2.5 star. It was loaded with way too much sauce. I also tried my husband's open-face roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes on the side. Beef was dry and was "drowning" in gravy. Mashed potatoes was the best of all the dishes. I would give it a 3.5 star. And yes, it is true that dessert is free and comes with the meal. My daughter ordered a brownie which she did not like. I did not order a dessert because I wanted to taste my daughter's brownie first. We ate not even half of her brownie, a big surprise, since we are chocolate lovers! I ordered rice pudding to go. It's still sitting in our fridge. Not sure if it even deserves a try... Don't waste your $$ at Mamie's.

Outstanding! Found this place on Yelp during a business trip, and thought we'd try it out. We were not disappointed. The place is fun and quirky, with a very warm and inviting vibe. The menu is varied and offers a very good selection. Lots of comfort foods. The portions are immense! Plus they offer a free desert. Can't go wrong here. Staff is friendly, helpful and accommodating. Great value for your money. I would definitely dine here again and again.

It's 1940 inside this establishment and Grandma must be cooking. The food was phenomenal and the service was exceptionally friendly. It was a grade A experience for me and I will be back. Also, free desert with every meal! If you love America you will love Mamie's Cafe.

Eating at Mamie's was like sitting in a farmhouse kitchen from the decor to the homey menu. The service was very friendly and the food was very tasty. I had the Maryland Crab soup, which was tasty (if a little too salty) and the chicken salad open-faced melt on an English muffin with chips, which was delicious! My husband enjoyed the trio (crab and shrimp salad sandwich) very much. Service was a little slow for eating with children (we were there for 45 minutes from seating to leaving), but the place was bustling, with only one waitress in our section and another man bussing tables, so they were very busy. Still, they were very attentive and friendly and quick on getting anything we needed. Overall, a great place to catch a lunch on the road!

It was our 1st. time and certainly not our last. The restaurant is Eclectic. Walking in is like taking a step back in time. You wouldn't suspect what it's like inside from the outside. The tables are all different, the chairs are all different even at the same table. There are pictures hanging everywhere, different items hanging from the ceiling and set up on the floor around the restaurant. My Mom had stuffed shrimp/crab meat. Me and my Pops had Fettuccine with scallops, shrimp and crab meat. We all enjoyed our food and the portions were big enough to make two meals for most people. Our waitress said the fettuccine meal we ordered was one of her favorites. A nice surprise at the end of the meal is that dessert is Free !! If you're familiar with the Aberdeen area, the restaurant is in the strip center where Home Depot is. The food is a little pricey, although there are some items that are under $13. Enjoy !! You have to try the Corn Fritters appetizer. The are the size of small chicken nuggets and good !! We ordered Chocolate cake for dessert and it's delicious with marshmallow icing with sprinkles. Moist and Delicious !!

I'm torn between three and four stars for this place. I wanted to love it. It's friendly and cute, and the appetizers were excellent (fried calamari and crab soup, although the latter was kind of light on the crab, as someone else mentioned). But unfortunately, my entree (pot roast) was unexceptional (other than the immense portion size). The gravy was bland and the beef itself was dry. Very disappointing after what had started out as a great meal. I'd try this place again but I'd order something else.

This place gets 5 stars for a variety of reasons. First is the atmosphere- dining is decorated with quaint, interesting decor that reminds me of an old Highlandtown favorite, Haussners. Next are the employees. All are super friendly, accommodating, and very attentive throughout your entire meal, even when the place is totally packed. Finally, the food is fantastic. The specials are not to be overlooked and the regular menu choices are diverse and won't disappoint. Portions are very generous, prices are reasonable, and most every meal comes with a free homemade dessert (if you manage to save room!). Perfect place for a quick business lunch or a longer laid back meal with family or friends. The employees here will make you feel at home and you will not leave with an empty belly or unhappy taste buds.

This place is solid, and really family friendly. I got the Turkey Club which was delicious (I think they roast the turkey in-house) and HUGE -- I ended up taking half of it to-go and eating it later. My husband got the open turkey sandwich and liked it -- again, really big portion. Cute free dessert, though the brownies were nothing to write home about. Easy stop on 95 -- I'd definitely recommend it as a pitstop, especially over the rest stops. Worth stopping!

People rave about mamies, and I don't really see the greatness of it. There is far too much going on in the restaurant, and it makes me feel cramped. I couldn't really find anything on the menu I was crazy about and ended up getting a club sanwhich that wasn't very good.

Wow. What a lot of hype! I have to admit, the portions were huge. Any lumberjack would appreciate these hearty meals and free dessert. Now that that's out of the way, I got the chopped sirloin steak, med rare. It was pretty much well done and dried out, topped with luscious right-out-the-can gravy.... Ugh. The mashed potatoes were homeade and good, but that gravy ruined them. I also got a salad, and the salad was large, with several different types of fresh lettuce, cucumbers and tomatoes. The corn fritters were good, but certainly not even close to the best i've had. (Even sizzlers was better) Not sure I would come back here.

Mamie's is like one of those cool and delicious restaurant Anthony Bourdain would end up in while being escorted by a local. It suffers from strip mall syndrome but honestly this place screams mom and pop. The ambiance is laid back and the cooking is served like you were at home. Portions are big so prepare to share or take home for the next week lol. I've tried various pastas but the seafood platter with white Alfredo sauce is a go to. Desert is complimentary and usually I'll swing at the rice pudding. The decor is pretty and draws your attention with all the old pictures and antique items. Picture Cracker Barrel if it was Italian and there was only one. Honestly I can't say anything bad about this place, I'd recommend it to anyone.

  • Christy M.

This mom and pop restaurant is great! Huge portions, complimentary French bread and dessert (the rice pudding is awesome) and decent prices. The waitstaff is very friendly, and the service is excellent. They are very quick to refill drinks. The reasons I'm giving it 4 stars are because: they brought out the sides way before dinner (at the same time as the appetizer), and the broccoli and rockfish that my mother had were slightly over cooked. I had the crab cake platter. The crab cake was great! It was full of lump crabmeat, and well seasoned. My two sides were a garden salad and beets, both of which were tasty, but not anything special. The corn fritters were very good. Overall, I recommend this place, and will be back again for sure! Btw- it's BYOB!

The decor is well worth visiting this restaurant where the home cooked food provides a distinct advantage over chain restaurants. I tried the meatloaf - it was a good meal with tasty side dishes. The only complaint was I did know it would be covered in gravy - I prefer my meatloaf to be smothered in good old catsup.

An ecclectic italian family restaurant. Everyone can find something here. The base menu is italian, but the menu boasts Maryland style crab, seafood, burgers, and steaks. The night we went I had the lasagna. Homemade tasting with plenty of meat and a thick topping of melted cheese. We also had the corn fritter appetizers. These are a variation on southern hush puppies with sweet corn kernels inside. A surprise also, every meal gets free dessert! This place is a little gem hidden in a strip mall and definitely worth seeking out if you are in Aberdeen, MD.

Very quaint place, with a diner feel. The prices are good and the portions are huge. My wife got the open face turkey with homemade mashed potatoes smothered if gravy. It was awesome. I got the gnocchi sarentine...it was to die for. Highly recommended!!

Between the quirky mismatched tables & chairs, and the local focus in decoration, I was not surprised to learn that this place originated in Hampden, Baltimore. The eccentricities pretty much stop at the ambiance though - the food is just classically delicious. We got a reservation for 10, so we were able to try many dishes, which were all delicious. Service was impeccable, and get ready for the best part - complimentary dessert! It's a bit of a hike from my home, but I hope to return sometime.

Good Lord what can't we say about Maime's??? I work at a power plant about twenty minutes for a few months a year and every time I am in Aberdeen we must come to Maime's at least twice !! We love the fettuccine alfredo with chicken most of all but everything we have ever gotten at Maime's is amazing. The staff is always nice and friendly and Mike has an awesome personality that always makes you feel like a regular even if you only make it in once or twice a year! Love Maime's!!!!

I took my family here last night after it was recommended by a friend. They described it as a "secret gem". It was just that! So many fun, unique, and interesting things on the walls! (My three boys ages 3-6 loved playing I Spy With My Little Eye). All of the food was great! Something for everyone. The staff was so nice and attentive. And best of all.....free dessert with every meal! We live in Forest Hill, but we will definitely make the trip again!!

I wish I could give a no star review. I'm all about reviews and seeing peoples opinions on places and lets just say I don't always go by that. I like to try it myself before I go listening to people. I live to travel, to eat and explore new everything. I don't know what people like about this place. It is God awful. My dog eats better and if the people who have claimed this is a 4-5 star you have horrendous taste.

  • Shaliah T.

This poor review is mainly due to customer service. I got the Maryland Crab soup (it was okay, not much crab in it), the Cream of Crab soup (it was absolutely disgusting), and the corn fritters (delicious!). I informed our waitress that I did not like the Cream of Crab soup. She proceeded to ask if anyone at my table wanted to take it home. Why would anyone want to take it home when I said it not good? When I received my bill, she still charged me for it. I asked why and her explanation was, "Just because someone says they don't like it, doesn't mean they don't have to pay for it." What kind of customer service is that?! I have never been to a restaurant (even in the smallest of towns) that would still charge me for something I didn't eat. I'll never come here again on principle. So keep this in mind if you want to try something new: you'll have to pay for it regardless.

Their food is always fresh Waiters are very friendly Their restaurant is akin to a Cracker Barrel, but unique because of its size. This is very nice because the size gives the ambience a sense of home I love it.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
