AB....SO...LUTE...LY......HORRENDOUS SERVICE. `Dined' here around 8:30p Saturday night of Memorial Day wknd. Just got back to hotel and needed to write this right away as our family of five had what looked like a promising late dinner after a soccer tournament game that turned out to be a DISASTER. All due to SERVICE. We picked this place for it's (current) overall four-star rating and it's convenience to our hotel. We read several reviews which made it seem like it was going to be a win-win situation. Realizing we were eating late (due to the soccer game ending later ~8p), we drove into the parking lot and parked w/o issue. Even has ramp for wheelchair accessibility (good sign they spent time on detail). The outside decor was appealing and looked very warm and welcoming. The restaurant advertised itself as a pizzeria/restaurant w/ indication of `Italian/American food'. It seemed perfect to fit everyone's tastes. We got the last table for five and the restaurant was amply filled with guests (not overcrowded and busy and not hectic pace according to the flow of waiters/waitresses). We only waited a couple of minutes. So far so good. The waiter arrived pretty soon (blond longer haired gentleman who surprised us a little as he looked like he needed sleep and resembled somewhat of the grim reaper - again, the sleep-deprived look probably attributed to that). Anyway, he took our drink order and left while we started looking through our menus. My husband and daughter returned from the bathroom and it had been more than 15mins before our drinks even arrived (waters, a lemonade, and one draft beer). That was our FIRST sign of how the rest of the evening unfolded. I suspected the next hour may not bode well for some reason (didn't soley base on the time it took the drinks to come out - well....yes. It was based on that. Usually it's a pretty good indicator as to the rest of the service ESPECIALLY when the waiter didn't even apologize there was such a delay. I said to myself "ok it's just drinks. Let's put the food order in and it should be fine". I noted the time we all placed our orders (simple items - from spaghetti marinara to a margharita pizza which was probably the most `involved' if you call it that) - 9pm. 15mins went by.....no sign of waiter. Not even a passby stating 'your food should be out in a little bit'. 20mins passed....then 30....then 40mins. FOR-TY minutes without acknowledgement from our own waiter (who never officially introducted himself by the time I thought of it). By that time, one of my sons stated he wasn't even hungry anymore....and my daughter started to fall asleep at the table from being over hungry and tired at that point. We saw a couple arrive about half hour AFTER us and already had their pizza arrive and were well into devouring their fare. I approached the hostess to tell her it had been about 40mins since we ordered our food and she stated she would tell the waiter - NO apology. What kind of customer service is THAT? Restaurant treatment of customers is usually the cornerstone of the business. Their food could virtually `SUCK' but if they just acknowledge and treat their customers w/ respect then the customers would probably still COME BACK. So I went back to the table and sat down frustrated. I found the waiter was FINALLY checking on our table and had the nerve to ask me 'What's wrong?' to which I firmly replied it was now well over 40mins since we placed our order and a simple dish as pasta marinara hadn't even come out. I was appalled as to his response - "It's been that long?" - are you KIDDING me? Again, NO apology. He then LEISURELY said he'd go back to the kitchen and check (NO...KIDDING) and I added as long as if they could just bring the kids' dinners out (which were simple meatballs & spaghetti, spaghetti bolognese, and the pasta marinara - STANDARDS for an ITALIAN restaurant). I commented to my husband a few minutes later (still no food) that if another ten minutes passed then we would leave. It was almost pointless to continue dinner at that point as we had been there for over an hour at that point and NO FOOD had arrived. Then a woman of seemingly higher authority came over with a tray of our food and virtually dismissed our waiter with a side-comment to the waiter "I have this one" which hmmm....indicates to me there was some kind of `rescue' to follow. The waiter trailed behind (with something in his hands that made him LOOK useful but he HAD YET to offer SOME SEMBLANCE of an apology). It wasn't just me - my husband stated it was ridic but he was too tired at that point as well as my kids. . She never introduced herself but from her statement 'this normally doesn't happen in my restaurant" it implied she was a manager. I then finally took a bite of my ckn dish and it was just ....unappetizing. I asked for a box. OVERALL: would not recommend. I'm not sure how it even got four-starts. DO NOT GO!!

The quality of the food at this restaurant has gone down significantly over the years. I used to consider this some of the best Italian food around, but now it's become some of the worst. They seem to have lost all focus on the kitchen. Very disappointing. I don't know why the parking lot is always full.

We didn't eat at the restaurant but my office ordered catering for a corporate luncheon. The food arrived promptly and it was still hot. We were given lots of plates, napkins, cutlery etc so we didn't have to bring out our own stash. The food was really delicious for a chain establishment. The office LOVED the eggplant rollatini and chicken parm. We also got garlic bread, bolognese, garlic bread, salad, shrimp scampi and chicken and broccoli. It was quite the feast! I would definitely get catering from them again. Portions were huge and prices were really reasonable. The menu items were presented really well.

Great Italian Food with excellent service. Their Polcari's Spinach Salad with their House Vinegrate is a great starter. Anything Italian is good here

Took the boyfriend out for a Father's Day dinner last night...it was our first time here together (we've both been to it separately, I went to a different location though) First off, our waitress was a doll! She was very nice and attentive. The food on the other hand was mediocre. Besides the Lasagna that the bf got, he loved it. I ordered the chicken parm & yes, the portions were HUGE, but the chicken itself wasn't the best. It was a little tough and the pasta was OK. I couldn't even finish half of it...I took it home, maybe left overs are better. Our appetizer was the Mozzarella Triangles and it was.......too herb-y...Not enough cheese...too much of the breaded outer part...and they put too much seasoning that it was very salty & overwhelmingly flavorful. Dessert was wonderful though. We had the Fudge brownie & Ice cream...it was ... YUM. All in all, the service was wonderful, the dessert was great...Lasagna was good. I probably would come back and try something else, but I would def come back for dessert haha.

Very nice facility, nice ambiance (quiet and comfortable), good service, good parking. Drink and food orders arrive in reasonable time, though I've never been there when it's busy. The entrees are very large - we have always ended up taking half home with us. Why only 3 stars? I'd say the food is mediocre. Many diners would find the food fine but if you judge thinking of Boston's North End, it's just not that great. Prices are reasonable.

Polcari's is a good option for a casual night out with friends or family. It's a no-frills restaurant with decent Italian food. I also love that they serve Pizzaria Regina pizza. They bring bread before the meal which is accompanied by a delicious dipping oil. Waitstaff is friendly and attentive. They are available when you need them and food is served quickly. The one issue with this restaurant is the parking situation. They have taken over a large section of the already inadequate parking lot with several spaces reserved for valet. This is a plus for those who like valet parking, but I prefer to park my own. Perhaps I would utilize the parking service at a fancy, upscale restaurant, but Polcari's is a low key, casual night out with a very small parking area so I do not find it necessary. Parking is tough for the non-valet diners during busy hours.

More often than not, the wait-staff seems annoyed to be serving you. I go here for the torrone dessert, a personal favorite I've not seen elsewhere in the area. Because of the mediocre service, I tend to go anywhere else when going for Italian. Woburn charging the extra local tax is absurd...

I LOVE polcaris. The white cheese pizza is my favorite pizza, probably in the world. Their bread and oil is out of this world. I also love the eggplant rollentini. And their salads are excellent quality, and impeccable taste.. although i get the dressing on the side, i do everywhere else too.

Overall the place was good. Found it to be a bit pricy for the food. But the food and service was great. Nancy and Jill took great care of us. Will definitely come back.

Polcari's in Woburn is really good. I'm surprised the star rating isn't higher. I will admit it took about 10 minutes for the waitress to take my drink order, but I think I only noticed because I was by myself. Other than that though, the service was excellent. I ordered the Puttanesca Pizza and it was delicious! I also had the Tiramisu and it was excellent! I would definitely eat here again.

Stopped by for a late afternoon lunch with two toddlers. We were all starving. The server was quick to greet and take the children's order. Thankfully, for the crayons and drawing sheets. Kept them occupied for a bit. We ordered chicken fingers and a cheese pizza for the kids. Huge portions. As for the adult course - we ordered the chicken marsala (didn't realize it was cooked with pancetta) and a meat pizza. Both were tasty and plentiful. Reason for the 3 stars - where we sat - there were a bunch of fruit flies which makes me question the cleanliness of the restaurant.

Awesome food and we had an awesome server :) Happy we came here on our visit too because our food was delicious. It tasted like an authentic Italian dish and it was a fairly big portion on each of our meals. My experience here was very good and I would like to also recommend going here!

Regina's Pizza is great. Next time I will take out. Parking lot is very small, when they're busy, your car will have to be valeted. It's free but you feel like a schmuck if you don't tip them. Overall the service was disappointing. We were always asking for something (water, utensils, etc...) Nothing was ever proactive. I was there with a group and they never took the time to clear our used plates. They were waiting for our event to end. Really weird. Men's bathroom had paper towels on the ground. Looks like they are probably staffed great for front hosting but for table staff and busing they are thin. Really wanted to like it.

Bad, just bad. Our party of 4 adults and three very small children arrived separately, several minutes apart. The waiter tried to take our order twice before one of the adults and a child were even seated at the table. On top of bad service, the restaurant is poorly maintained and is not kept clean. I had to ask a bus boy to clean the explosion of crumbs I found on our worn booth when we arrived to sit down. They also were storing an empty dirty dish bin by leaning it up against the end of the seat! We were lucky enough to sit next to the waiter's station where the waitresses loudly complained about each other all night. The pizza was tasty, but two out of the three pies were missing a requested topping. The news that the Regina company is in bankruptcy is now the least surprising thing I've heard in the last few weeks.

Just got back from dinner at Polcari's, and we were very disappointed overall. We were seated very quickly in that front dining room, and the waiter, Jack, took our drink orders. Drinks and bread were brought and everything started off quite well. Keep in mind when we sat down, there were only a few other groups seated. After we placed our order (chicken marsala, linguini w/ clam sauce, kids cheese pizza, kids pasta w/ butter), we started noticing several groups being seated - pretty normal stuff. About 30 min later (we're pretty patient people), we notice that these groups that came in after us were being served MEALS. The waiter then tells us our food is "coming right out." 10 minutes later, I see Jack across the room, give him the what-the-heck's-the-wait look and watch him dismiss me from 15ft away. 'Ok, maybe he's getting pressure from the kitchen', I think. Then Jack comes over with plates of food, and serves the people BEHIND us, that came in AFTER us. At this point, not 1, not 2, but THREE tables that were seated after we had ORDERED, were all stuffing their faces in unison. I tell him,"Three tables were seated and got food after we ordered ours. What gives?" His very defensive response,"Well, did they order pizza?!" "How should I know?" I asked. He then scoffs arrogantly and walks away. A few minutes later, a woman (manager?) comes up to us, apologizes for the delay, and says she'll take the pizza (~$5) off the bill. 'Big freakin' whoop', I think to myself. She blamed the pizza taking a while, and meanwhile, I am watching a child at the next table over from us (sat down AFTER us of course) eat his kids pizza. I promptly pointed him out to her and explained the situation. Obviously, our order got lost or was put in out of order. They would NOT acknowledge this. 10 minutes later, the food came out and was actually good, but I'm sorry, there's no excuse for the poor service. Saying the food is coming out when it's not was a lie. Putting in our order late or losing our order would have been *perfectly* fine with us if they communicated this and owned up to it, but they did not. They blamed the pizza, which is ridiculous because the kids pizza is small and does NOT take 50min to cook. Between the waiter's lofty arrogance and the manager's reluctance to make a real dent in the bill, we are one family that won't be back. Way to go, Jack!

The food was great. But overall had a bad experience. 1. Got seated quickly but it took almost 10 min. for anyone to acknowledge us sitting there. Another waitress finally flagged down our waiter. 2. Beer glass was all sticky on the outside. Just gross. 3. Underneath our table was also sticky 4. Our waiter had a cold and kept sniffling while talking to us. Just not cool if you are handling food. Go home and don't get me sick. 5. I have a gluten allergy. For pizza, I was told I could only order a small cheese or small pepperoni. I asked if I got a cheese if they could throw some peppers on there. He said he wasn't sure if they could. I said if not, cheese is fine. No other conversation happened. I got the gluten free cheese pizza. Which is ok. But I find it odd that they didn't offers me any other options and that I wasn't given a heads up on that.

First off, this is a small chain but great food! I had the Sweet Sausage Cavatappi which is Sweet sausage removed from the casing and hot sausage links sautéed with caramelized onions in a light cream Marinara sauce and tossed with cavatappi pasta. Very tasty and filling! whew! If you're hungry....go here! HUGE dishes! No way one person can eat the entire entree! Very nice waitress also

I rarely have a bad meal at Polcari's in Woburn. My go to dish is the chicken parm. They are not cheap with their pasta sauce/gravy like most places are and the portion is very big and I never leave there hungry. My wife likes the Capricciosa pizza as do I. In my opinion, the pizza here is better than their other Regina locations. Service is always pretty good. Only downside is the parking lot stinks and I refuse to valet it. Restroom is always clean.

1 star is for terrible way they handle reservations and waiting list. We had Open Table reservations and figured out it doesn't mean a thing. We were told it would be a few minutes and waited 45 min and seated only after my wife finally asked. I checked Open Table during our wait and you can book a table within 15 min when the wait was 45 min to 1 hour. After we were seated, we were then told the wait for our pizza will be 75 min due to backup of pizza orders. The waiter (John) however was nice and accommodating with soda refills and checking in to give us updates. Hostess should have informed the guests waiting so they can decide if they want to wait over 2 hours before food arrives. The hostess and management looked miserable and we're not approachable. I use to frequent the Salem, NH location and this place makes you feel like they are doing you a favor for serving you. Then a party of 2 arrives and says their niece works there and we're seated right away. Unreal.

Disappointed in this place. Had been meaning to try it for a while now and finally stopped in a few weeks back. Ordered fish tacos and they were pretty bad. Also had a pizza which was pretty good but a tad in the greasy side. Major complaint I have was the flies. They were in the men's room and also in the dining area where we were, landing on our food a few times. Service was on the slow side, but server was polite and courteous.

I recently read an article that states that all Regina's, in theory, should taste the same. Maybe I made some bad assumptions, having seen the Regina's sign outside, but they didn't even have the same pizza menu as Regina's in the North End. My second critique, which some may not find a critique, was that our pizza has too much ricotta. Even the ricotta lovers (which I am not) in the group were scraping it off. I wouldn't have mentioned it if it was just me... Otherwise the pizza was decent. Unfortunately it's not all that close to home (the on in Salem closed before we could try it), so if we are making the drive for pizza, it will be to the North End.

I go here for the Pizza & the Pizza only. I find this to be the best Tasting Pizza of all the Regina locations. The crust is buttery, crunchy and as noted in other reviews can be a bit on the greasy side but that is because they use a lot of oil on the crust which keeps it from not getting dry. I have tried other entrees here and they are lackluster and its best to stick to the pizza . As noted in another review, this place does have a problem with flies, even in November which is alarming. Hopefully the establishment will see the reviews and get an exterminator in there. Would give the pizza 4 stars but had to take off one star due to the flies. Lol

Hello I'm street eating legend King Eat, and today I'll be reviewing Polcari's. Short review: The complimentary bread and oil is fantastic Pizza is delicious Pasta is ok The Chicken Parm sub is meh. You might even say; The chicken parm sub is sub par(m) chicken.....parm. Staff is very friendly (Nicole was my waitress, and the manager was very nice) Now if ya boy is going to Polcari's; I got a pretty young thing on my left, I'm sitting down with a beer and a pizza, and I'm 4 stars happy. If I venture outside of that, it could be a different review.

  • Amanda M.

I actually like the food and the staff is fairly friendly. The wait is so long and so far beyond their estimated wait time that I will go almost anywhere else to eat.

An enthusiastic 3 stars! One star comes by virtue of being family owned, and not a chain. The next star comes by virtue of being a "family" restaurant, meaning everyone's family has been coming here forever. Unfortunately, that means they've been resting on their olive laurels for too long. The food come out too quickly to be made fresh (rolatinis hot from the microwave!). The mantra seems to be "if it's not great, give 'em a lot". Not a great approach. The third star is a credit to the wait and bar staff. They all seem to be happy to be there. I could care less about polished service if it means a lack of friendliness. The staff at this place seems to really care that you have a good time. Priceless.

Have to say I am very disappointed in the online ordering for Polcari's Woburn. Used to have no problem with it. Then you simply could not order online. Now the website says certain locations can accept online orders and Woburn is listed. So I gave it another try. First, it won't let you order any pasta without adding meat. You simply can not add to your list of items ordered. It actually states you must add a meat item. I am sure all the vegetarians will be thrilled. So I changed what I wanted and placed the order. You have to put in a cc# or you can't advance to checkout. My cc# was entered and it looked like it took. It didn't because I did not receive a confirmatory email as stated. I repeated the process still no email. I finally called. No online orders received today the woman said. Wondering if they charged my credit card twice. No apologies from anyone, oh well. Wondering how much business they are losing. Won't order ever again from there,

First time visiting this place and my friend and I ordered a margherita pizza to share. I expected a generic pizza with no high expectations. I received a greasy and excessive basil pizza. My other friend ordered a simple appetizer but the food had a foul odor and a weird aftertaste as well. I ended up leaving without eating anything. Maybe it was an off night but I'm not sure about returning anytime soon

I have no clue how people give this place less than 4 stars. We are not in revere or east Boston. This is as good as it gets for pizza in this neck of the woods. Way better than Sals or crap greek pizza places in the area.

Polcari's was a pretty good place. It gets pretty busy around dinner time though! Their pizza is crisp and fresh. Their pasta is also good. The waiter was really nice and kept the atmosphere calm. I had a pretty good experience. The food all in all was good I wouldn't say it's the best I've ever had but it was good.

Went for a late dinner with the family after attending a wake. Waitress finally came to the table and took our drink order. We were not ready with dinner order so but we ordered some apps. Fries calamari and mozzarella wedges, calamari were good mozzarella wedges were more like a deep fried grille cheese sandwich and not in a good way. Sausage pizza was yummy as usual but still better in the North End. Chicken florentine looks better than it tastes. Waitress must of had a lot of tables or something because empty plates were left until the last minute to be cleared between courses...wrap up= pizza good, service meh~ no so gooda...

Enjoyed a visit here while on an east coast business trip. The atmosphere and staff were great! The Chicken Parmigiana was disappointing... What is in that table oil? Served with warm bread it was delicious!! The side order of pasta was huge! Perhaps I'll try another dish on a future visit...?

Came in a hair after midnight, this place could have refused me and sent me home hungry with the muchies late on a Saturday night. However the hostess greeted me and let me order a couple slices. They also serve Pizzeria Regina which was just as good as the location in the North End. I can't speak to the food at Polcari's but Pizzeria Regina still rocks.

    (4)
  • C L S.

Bland pizza. Crust is too thick. Sauce lacks flavor. It is in needed of oregano simmered with the sauce, not as a table add on. Mushroom onion pizza was soggy. Cheese lacked flavor. A total disappointment. Regina pizza, which they claim it to be, is much more flavorful. Service was courteous, though nothing spectacular.

Last week my sister and I stopped into Polcaris for a quick bite and boy were we impressed!! The food was great, but what was even better was the service. We sat at the bar and the bartender JD accommodated our every need. I'm very picky about my drinks and he made me the perfect lemon drop martini. I would go back just for that! Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely go back!

  • Jillian L.

I want to start this by saying this is the first time that I have ever written a review about a place before. I feel the need to do this simply because the service was so bad I feel that it is only fair to warn people before they make the same mistake I did and waste any money here. I decided to go to Polcari's in Woburn tonight for dinner with my mother and 2 kids for the first time. When we got there we were sat quickly and Tyler, our waiter came right over. My mother and I both ordered coffee, which when it came was ice cold and burnt. My mother sent hers back asking for tea which came 15 minutes later after we asked for it again. I order fried calamari, garlic bread, kid's penne and sauce on the side and kid's chicken fingers. I asked that this all come out at the same time as to feed my 5 and 2 year old. For entrees I ordered Chicken Florentine and my mother ordered Spaghetti and meatballs. As I sat drinking my cold coffee and waiting for my mother's tea, bread and oil where not even offered. When the food came, they brought a kid's spaghetti with sauce on it for my 2 year old. This obviously upset me, as I specifically ordered penne with sauce on the side, not even close to what they brought. I asked that they take it back and fix. Now I have my app, my mother has her app, and my 5 year old is eating her dinner while my 2 year is watching everyone eat. I'm sorry but restaurant edict: never mess up the kids food. So after 10 minutes, yes 10 minutes, they bring her food, cold. At this point I order a beer to wash away my frustrations, Blue Moon no fruit. Well what do you know out comes my Blue Moon, with fruit in it. I wish I could say it stops here, but then the entrees came. I waitressed at a fine Italian restaurant for 2 year and it has always been my understanding that Chicken Florentine is a garlic cream sauce on top of breaded chicken topped with sautéed spinach and melted mozzarella cheese. I got breaded chicken topped with raw spinach and half melted mozzarella cheese in lemon garlic water. The breading on my chicken was mush in the bottom of this pool of water. Not to be forgotten the bowl of linguine floating in red water which I can only guess was there version of marinara sauce. As for my mother's Spaghetti and meatballs, well let's just say when she moved the plate red water spilled on the table. The presentation of all 3 dishes was completely inexcusable I can assume that there was no expeditor in the window and if so clearly that person is blind. When Tyler came to check on our food I gave him the bowl of red water pasta and said no thank you. The manager at this point is watching my mother swim through her bowl of pasta and came over to see how it was. Really? My mother asked her if she would eat it and she said no. Nice, thanks for the recommendation. When all was cleared and nothing ate the bill came. The manager rushed over to tell me that she comped my mother's meal as well as our apps for the trouble. No she comped my mother's meal and nothing else. Not my meal, my daughter's meal, which I forgot to add she didn't eat because by the time it came she had already eaten everyone else food, or the apps. Only because I was with my children, I paid the $50 bill and quietly left. Now as I stated previously normally I would not do something like this but really. I wasted not only time but $50 on horrible food and inexcusable service. And as I left I walked by several people who were sitting, eating and enjoying their food. I realize everyone's taste is different but really I would rather eat taco bell then ever step foot in this place again. To whoever reads this, I hope it helps. Also if you want good service and real Italian food, TreMonte's in right down the road.

Honestly, I would have thought this pizza was a practical joke if it were not for the $27 we paid for it. First of all, it took 45 minutes. The amount of cheese on this pizza was shocking. It was almost unrecognizable as a pizza. After asking the girl on the phone literally three different ways if there would be sauce on the pizza, and her assuring us three different ways that there would be sauce on the pizza, there was of course NO sauce on the pizza. By the time I brought it home it was a circular pile of cheese, some spinach, some tomatoes, but it mostly looked slop. The crust was mush, and the toppings were all over the box. I addition, it did not look nor taste like pizzeria regina. I wish we would have just got frozen pizza.

Yes. I don't eat pizza here. Fried Calamari, Linguine and clam sauce and anything veggie-friendly. Usually have good service. Seated pretty quickly, even when it's busy. Free Valet parking with nice enough guys that are quick on getting your car to you. House wine isn't too bad (red) and it's close to our house. Nice.

I'm not a big fan of Polcari's as I see it as a massive serving red gravy place that has none of the finess of really good Italian food. However, going there for drinks and a snack the other day was a delightful experience. We shared the pizza neapolatana, an intentionally overcooked pie with anchovies and capers. I ask that black olives be added. It was fabulous! Crunchy thin crust with a nice salty topping. It was especially enhanced with the red pepper infused olive oil for dipping the crusts. It hit the spot perfectly. When I come back I'll definitely look to sample the pies of Pizza Regina!

I'll start with a general comment - it's hard to find good, 'healthy' restaurants in this part of the state. On a long shot, I thought Polcari's might surprise me. Their outside facade shows promise; vintage lighting, complementary valet, and a nice looking building. Intrigued, I thought I might have found a great dining experience. Upon being seated, my server took my drink order and offered me bread and oil. Although a 'lower carb' mindset is at the forefront for me these days, I ordered a beer and obviously consented to the proffered cholesterol and carbohydrates. My server returned with a bottle containing olive oil, crushed red pepper, and various spices, along with my beer. I placed my dinner order, and began dipping the warm bread in oil and enjoying my beer. Unfortunately, this was the high point of the meal; I wish I hadn't ordered dinner. I had the 'broccoli and penne', a 'perennial favorite'. Note that I came in seeking a salad option (read: lower carb). However, the salad options were limited so I ordered a 'healthy' pasta dish. I can say with some confidence that I've made much better pasta dishes at my house for 1/10th of the price (which was 13.50). The sauce was watery, there were 4 pieces of broccoli, the noodles weren't cooked well, and overall the flavor was lacking. I can't remember the last time I left a restaurant with food on my plate, but I did it tonight. Just nondescript bad. I'l give this place 2 stars (and not 1) for a couple reasons: Big, reasonably priced beers Down to earth waitstaff Bread and oil Beyond this, the atmosphere and food were just not good. Go with a group, or for your kids' birthdays, or order a pizza, and you might be fine. But they didn't have what I wanted for the price. I would only return if I was stuck in the area, without a car, and with a hankering for so-so food.

I'm a big fan of Polcari's, mainly the Saugus location, but recently I've been hitting up the Woburn location as they have great music in the longue on the weekends and I have not been disappointed. A relaxed atmosphere, with great service, delicious pizza and live music...who could ask for anything more? I have tried some of their pizzas and a few different cocktails...and I have NO complaints. Plenty of parking...oh and FYI there is a sign outside that says they deliver...omg...if I lived within the delivery radius...that would very dangerous!!! Their pizza is sooooooo delicious.

This review is strictly for the Warm Pumpkin Spice Bundt Cake with Maple Walnut Ice Cream & Blueberry Sauce. Holiday dessert special!! The dessert that came to our table way exceeded my expectation. I never had maple walnut ice cream and it was BOMB. It had a nice firm shape and not too runny. The bundt cake was moist and not dry. Had a sweet drizzle sweet sauce. Come here for the dessert special. $4.50 and well worth every penny.

We happened to go to Polcari's on a Tuesday night, which was a stroke of luck, as we discovered that Tuesday is kids night. In addition to kids under 12 eating free from the kids menu, Polcari's had a strolling magician who came to our table and did a short slight-of-hand show for us. He was excellent! We were watching so carefully but we still couldn't figure out how he did the tricks. We enjoyed him very much. The food was good but expensive. The pizza wasn't as good as the Pizzaria Regina pizza I remembered from living in Boston, despite being labeled as Pizzaria Regina pizza. The food took a long time to arrive but was tasty and the portions were huge. I ordered an appetizer as my dinner and I still couldn't finish it. The decor of the restaurant suggests a New York restaurant, with black and white photos of celebrities such as Frank Sinatra and Groucho Marx on the walls. We all said it was too bad we don't live closer, because I could see Polcari's becoming a family favorite,

Not much parking, staff is meh, wait time between being seated, getting drinks, and having order taken is excessive. 14 min between getting drinks and ordering. portions are quite large, but that would only be useful if the food was hot, and worth taking home. We had gift cert's, so no cash was wasted, but still felt like it was a complete waste. The Vodka pasta I think it was called, sauce just fell off the noodles, there was no sticking, even with the Alfredo sauce on the other dish. Would not recommend.

You know that little moment of apprehension when you're eating somewhere you used to eat, and haven't been back for awhile, and you're bringing your new significant other there, and you're just hoping it's still as good as you remember it? Well, it's as good as I remember it. The waitress, bartender, and hostess were all excellent, as was the food, as were the drinks. It's not quite a five-star experience, but definitely a solid 4 stars in my opinion.

The first time I visited this location I was pleasantly surprised. The food was good and the prices are reasonable. My second visit was disappointing because not all of their menu items were available because it was Sunday...which was odd. Personally I prefer Regina's and will continue to go there instead. Not a bad place to eat, but I think Regina's is better.

We came here after walking out of Waxy O'connors (just down the road) and we were pleasantly surprised! We got sat right away it was about 8pm on a Saturday night. They have yummy bread with spicy garlic infused oil for dipping. We got a pitcher of beer and split eggplant rollatini. I just got Italian wedding soup for my meal which was huge and very filling and my husband got chicken Marsala which was tasty. Next time I think we could get away with 2 soups and the loaf of bread and be happy campers! While we were eating we could hear live music upstairs so we went up to check it out after we paid and there was a cozy bar with an awesome duo preforming. We stayed until they were done playing! They rocked!

It had been years since I was at this Polcaris, and it will probably be years before I go back. The service is slow, although the place was not busy at all. Our waiter was chatting with other servers while we were waiting for him to take our order. The food was good, not worth the price. The bathroom was really dirty and showed its age. The whole place just needs a make over, including the staff.

If you have severe food allergies, avoid this place!!! I called tonight and was told, and I quote, "just so you know, we have peanut oil all over our pizzas.". I actually said, "Does that make sense to you?". The server checked with the kitchen, came back, and said, "well....it's not peanut oil but I can't guarantee that their wont be nuts in your pizza.". I spoke with a manager that was just as useless. They lost my business, for sure! In this day and age there are no excuses for poor allergy training!

Called at 7:05 for a cheese pizza take-out. Given 25 minute expectancy, no problemo Polcari's. We got there at about 7:25, waited until 8:16 for a cheese pizza. 1 cheese pizza. People were coming in, ordering food, getting their food, and leaving before we got the pizza. I asked the take-out booth 4 times where our pizza was. "Next up..." I was so confused. And it sucks in those situations, because you've already invested like 40 minutes into the pizza....COME ON MAN, JUST GIVE US THE PIZZA. No, but seriously, an hour and 10 minutes for a plain cheese pizza does not compute.

I've been to this location several times and have yet to have a sub-par experience. The waitstaff takes care of you, the prices are reasonable and the food is always good. Whether it be a slow mid-day lunch, or a busy night, the food is always spot on.

I have been here a few times for dinner and lunch. The pizza really is great however, their main courses and appetizers are average. The pizza really is the best in the area. Easy to get take out as well. If it is busy, you just park, call and they bring it out...

I got a good laugh out of the other 1 star reviews, because they're all SPOT ON, although I felt bad for the people who had young children affected by the horrendous service. This place is a DISASTER of epic proportions! We work nearby so my colleagues are regulars since Woburn/Stoneham doesn't offer much for lunch. I think they're nuts. Occasionally despite my best efforts I get grouped into the office lunch. Today was so bad I had to write this. We showed up at noon and set the over/under on food at 12:50 and it was a photo finish at 12:54 with the over being the winning bet. 20 minutes for drinks, 25 for bread, no oil... had to ask... another 10 for oil. The drink refills is where the fun started.... the waitress dropped a pint of beer off her tray while standing over one end of the table and two of my coworkers got soaked by a pint of water that got caught in the crossfire. At least it wasn't the beer. They then started handing us linens to clean up the mess ourselves. At one point a busboy came over and stood an arms length away while dangling linens for one of us to grab with this back and head turned as if it was something foul that spilled. It was just water buddy. That's when I broke out into a psychotic cackle that got the whole table going. Next the manager came over and replaced the waitress with another and made the old waitress come by after and tell us she'd been replaced... super awkward. More cackling. Food came out sporadically, so we all watched each other eat individually.... awkward! Food was bland at best... everything there pretty much tastes the same. At this point we all just shoveled down our food and asked for the check because this point the entire office is 20 minutes late coming back from lunch. The waitress (trying to be nice) noticed some spilled marinara in front of me and offered to wipe it up so I didn't stick my elbow in it. She used a dry linen to scoop it and while reaching back over my shoulder the sauce fell right on the sleeve of my shirt. She was kind enough to grab a soda water so I could clean it off my clothing. At this point I felt bad but I just wanted to get out of there. They dropped a $165 check for 8 of us and the only thing they removed was one salad that came out completely wrong. My experience at Polcaris was so bad it was comical and somewhat fun to see what could possibly happen next. We all got a good laugh. If you want to eat sh*tty food and see the worst service on Earth in action, this is your spot. If you have small children, I don't recommend this experiment as I'm sure it will be much, much more painful.

The pizza was okay. I was looking forward to a great pie, since this place seemed to have good reviews. Picked it up to eat at the hotel and the taste was just average. Nothing out of the ordinary, but not all that bad. Nice restaurant, though, and located right off the main road. Convenient and friendly staff. Good place to try if you're visiting there.

we moved to Woburn last week and decided to try polcaris.we have been their northend location. Service is awfull our server forgot everything. food is under the avarage. ordered dessert and coffee took 30 min to get it even we cannot get our check. there is no way for us to go back....

I thought dinner items were overpriced...ordered pasta caprese and added shrimp to it. I was asked how many shrimp I wanted as they were $1.25 each, that was a first. Pizza looked good though. Not enough parking at all.

The parking situation at this location is horrendous! 1/3 of the lot is reserved for an on site valet and then they push customers to park at a local bank and walk back. I've gone there several times when the lot is full for self parking and nobody is in the valet spots. The valets will not let you park in the lot even if there are spots available. Don't bother with this place!

Came here on a tuesday, because kids eat free, but in the end you're paying for it. Upon first entering the place, you'd think it was a pretty nice place. It was very quiet, and somewhat classy. But all that changes once you receive your food. I first thought for the prices, it must be either really great or really large portions. It turned out to be the latter. The quality of the food was below what you would get at an olive garden, so I think to justify the prices, they give you massive portions. The appetizers gave me the impression that the food would have been better than expected, as we had the garlic bread with cheese and calamari, which were both really good. The service was fast and friendly. There are better options out there, but we went here due to the draw of kids eating free on Tuesdays. Nobody at our table could finish the food, everyone (including the kids) had to get a to-go box.

Normally the pizza here is great but it was over cooked today. For the price the pizza should never taste burnt every bite.

I live in the area and Polcari's has always been my go-to place for pizza. In my opinion, they have the most delicious pizzas around with all the toppings I love. There's always space to sit inside if you're dining in, and take-out is really fast. I also appreciate that they have you look at the pizza you ordered to make sure it's correct before you walk out the door. The reason I felt compelled to write a positive review is because on a recent take-out order, I found a small chicken bone in my pizza. I wrote to report the incident, and in doing so discovered that they have the most amazing customer service around! The manager replied to my issue in the nicest way, and sent out a gift certificate express overnight. I was floored at the efforts she made to rectify the situation. Even more so now, I will remain a loyal customer of Polcari's in Woburn. They have phenomenal pizza and ingredients, as well as having excellent staff and customer service.

Service was terrible. One of the worst servers we have ever had. We ordered the appetizer special and it was never delivered so the server lied and said that the kitchen ran out of ingredients then the table next to us who overheard said they also didn't receive their appetizer. We were served bread and 15 minutes later the dipping oil came and our dinners that we shared! The food was good so we will definitely order take out next time.

I went here twice while staying at the Marriott down the road. The first was a weeknight. My dad and I stopped in around 7:30 PM so he could get dinner and I could get dessert. All of the desserts looked really good, but I ended up getting the brownie sundae which was delicious. My dad, however, was given the wrong meal, even after clarifying the order with the waitress twice. He said it wasn't awful, but it would've been better if he had gotten what he ordered. Although it was busy that night, we were seated right away and the valet parking was a plus. A few weeks later my mom and I stopped in for lunch and ordered a pizza and salads. The bread and oil that they brought out was great, the salad was alright, and the pizza was extremely disappointing. It was burnt and all the toppings just slid right off it. Our waitress was also incredibly shy and seemed like she had social anxiety...not a good thing for a waitress. It seemed like she was avoiding talking to people and waiting on tables. So awkward. Based on that visit I would've given it 2 stars, but I had to give 3 for the yummy brownie sundae.

Friendly staff, nice decor; dirty ceiling; bread soft on inside but crust explodes with flakes when cutting. Spicy oil is a good bread topping. Good beer selection. Prices are decent but would've appreciated a mini-pizza portion for one person. Giambota pizza was thin crust with large veggies, nice chunks of sausage and typical pepperoni. I could taste the fresh basil. Had to drop a star because my waitress left me for 20 minutes after my meal was served.

Over priced for quality that isn't worth it. The wannabe tough guy waiter who needs to retire is a poor salesman for the 'secret' dipping oil (olive oil, garlic, hot pepper flakes and sugar;) The name does not work for to cover the poor reputation they are making for themselves...

Very friendly service, mediocre food. Having read about the massive portions, I ordered an appetizer (eggplant rollatini) for my entree, and it was just the right size. Dark and sort of dingy interior - looks like it hasn't been updated in a long time. Some people may find this charming, but I was slightly put off by it. Would not go out of my way to come back here, but if I were staying in the area, it's a decent choice if I felt like pizza and pasta. The loaf of fresh bread was a tasty way to start the meal.

Love this place. Warm bread and slightly spicy oil. Reasonably priced. Great menu. Love the fireplace. If you are looking for a gourmet Italian dinner this isn't the place. If your looking for a place to go with a good group of friends, have a few good beers and some great food then this is the perfect spot.

Large portions, slightly higher than average prices (probably to account for the massive portions), and average-okay quality food. It was a pleasant dining experience as I went there to catch up with an old friend. The waitress was very nice, kinda weird, but not in a bad or offensive way haha. I loved the bread and oils given before the meal, delicious! The Lasagna plate was absolutely enormous, it could serve three hungry men, no problem. Nothing stood out s being excellent, but nothing was bad either. I was happy with the experience, and would happily go to again.

I usually go here for Thursday night trivia. JD, the bartender is super nice and attentive. Other than that and the bread with pepper oil, pretty much everything else sucks the big one. I had the veal marsala and it was insanely salty. Pretty much inedible in my opinion. I've also had the pizza and the crust was way too thick, the sauce was overly sweet but otherwise flavorless and the cheese was thick and rubbery. Overall a really nasty pizza. I'd expect more from an Italian restaurant. The only other thing on the menu that was semi-palatable is the stuffed mushroom caps. My suggestion: go for trivia but make sure you eat first!

This review is for a take out order of two pizzas and two salads. The pizza is Pizza Regina pizza - supposedly. We ordered online and the order was for curbside pick-up. A license plate number is taken so the order can be brought to the car. We arrived and parked in the marked curbside delivery area. We waited for 15 minutes after the recorded delivery time. Nothing. We noticed other people walking back to cars parked in this area with orders - and driving away. We went inside after 20 minutes, the food was on the counter area. We asked what happened to curbside delivery. The very un-busy person there cleverly said with no enthusiasm, "I don't know; it's supposed to be brought out." No explanation and no apology - and no one brings anything out seemingly ever. Got the food back to the house, a 7 minute drive. The pizza was room temperature cold. To make it worse, it was worse than mediocre. I have had Pizza Regina many times - at the original North End, at Faneuil Market, and at two different malls. Pizza was excellent and virtually identical at all the locations. Not this time at Polcari's. Will never return.

I am not such a big fan of Polcari's! We went here last weekend for lunch. It was ... OK. I don't think I like this place anymore. The bread was nice to start, but the oil the waiter poured for us had a hair in it. God, such a turn off. Got that cheese-triangle appetizer, which is a grilled-cheese soaked in oil and served with marinara sauce. It's good but completely filling and gross at the same time. We could barely dig into our lunches - which weren't that great. A sausage calzone with no zip to it and a decent sausage-pasta dish which was... all right. I just don't care for this place too much anymore. It's average at best.

Extremely disappointed especially in the manager who never introduced herself (a blond with a diamond earring in her nose). Waited approximately a half hour to be seated (no big deal we know its usually worth the wait). Got seated ordered 2 wedding soups, risotto with bolognaisse and chicken tenders and ordered our pizza as we were told the wait for a pizza was at least 30 minutes. Waitress came over apologizing stating there was extra bolognaisse. No big deal, not a problem. All of a sudden our pizza arrives and we have yet to get our appetizers or soup after approximately 25 minutes. Pizza goes back wait another 10 minutes finally our soup and appetizers arrive. Soup is warm, chicken is warm risotto with bolognaisse stone cold. Send risotto with bolognaisse back say don't worry about it don't bring another one. Manager comes over knows of all our problems and states "I know the risotto with bolognaisse was hot I burnt my finger on it." Really you did what did you do put your finger in our appetizer? Lied through her teeth. Shame on her! Very disappointed. Left hungry and went to Sals in North Andover. With management like that you are sure to lose many customers SHAME on her! Very disappointed!

First time at this restaurant, pleasantly surprised at how tasty our meal was. The spicy dipping oil and fresh baked bread was excellent. My hubby ordered the chicken parm over linguini and I had two apps- a side salad and a baked eggplant with ricotta. The parm was good and a huge serving. Even the eggplant appetizer was a generous portion, sauce was very good. Service was good, we had no trouble with parking (it was a Saturday afternoon). Very family friendly and our server was very gracious. Decor was a bit dated but for the price of the food, it was just fine. We likely will go again, if only for that yummy dipping oil!

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
