Food was OK. Had chicken piccata, was here for family birthday dinner. BYOB IS great of course. But nobody's meal was amazing. Mediocre. Bread is cheap, oil is cheap. Small crowded space. Waitress was ehhhh. Mediocre as well. I didn't even know her name. Everything about this place was mediocre. Want some great Italian food, THE ANTIQUE TABLE is a MUST. I would never go here again.

Attended a family dinner with a group of 9 and there were 9 well prepared meals served to us. This was good food at a good price, nothing knocked our socks off, but nothing was bad. We also sampled a number of deserts and all were very good. Our server was very pleasant, but not particularly attentive or efficient. I got a sense that the wait staff are not coordinated in a way that they help each other out and it resulted in some times where one waiter was crazy busy with another just standing around. It could be that they had some new people on our visit. Will probably give them another chance if we dine in Winthrop again.

At 7:30 Saturday night the wait was too long so we ordered.to go. The best eggplant parmagiana (sp) hot sub I ever had and I have had many. Rich, tender juicy and fresh. An interesting tomato sauce, mild and tasty. I also ordered.the ensalata de casa. Beautifully arranged with lettuce, cucumber, tomatos, roasted red peppers, basil and sliced circles of mozzarella. Very generous and delicious.

The frutti d' mare is unbelievable. The white sauce and the red sauce are both good but I would recommend the white sauce dish. They give you generous amount of seafood in this dish it is really worth the price. Tons of to go orders and people coming and going the whole time, I can understand why.

Mmmmm. One of my favorite places ever. Right around the corner from my parents home there is a warm and cozy italian restaurant. The specials are always good. anything you u get from the menu is absolutly delicious. staff is great. we've been coming for years and we've never had a bad service. For birthdays they staff gets together and puts a birthday song. Very cute! Desserts are yummy! Recommended for a date night or dinner with the family or girlfriends. MUST GO!

Really liked this place, went there for first date and it had a quiet romantic atmosphere and wonderful food. It's BYOB so we had two bottle of wine with us which they uncorked. Nice waitstaff, desserts looked fun though we didn't have them. A bit pricey but the food was really delicious so it's worth it.

Such a charming restaurant! Can get a bit loud and crowded on the weekends but we love it! Byob which is always a plus - the chicken parm in pink sauce is my favorite!! Staff is friendly and you can make a reservation for 3+ people! We will be back for sure!!

This place is terrific. My sister and I went with a couple bottles of wine (it's byob) and had a great time. The food was wonderful. She had the chicken parmesan and I had the scallop risotto. The atmosphere was quaint and homey.

First, this place is adorable. I was a sad depressed mess when I walked in there with a friend and I had no desire to eat anything. It was a Monday and there was a special for Chicken Parm & Ziti, so I ordered that. Bread came out and there's oil on the table and everything you need to make a more than satisfactory dip (shakey cheese, salt & pepper, crushed red pepper), so upon seeing my friend do this I managed a piece of bread. The Chicken Parm came out and it was so well done and easy to eat I ate it all. The chicken was well pounded and lightly breaded, the cheese was just right and the tomato sauce was fresh and robust. This says a LOT given the last few days I've been barely able to keep down a cup of steamed broccoli and even today I can't eat. It's like D'Parma is the one meal I could manage and I think it was because it was good. The salad that came out before was boring and I didn't really touched that, though, and I tasted my friend's Chicken Picatta and I though it was leaving a lot to be desired. Also, it's BYOB, which is pretty cool, given the liquor store just across the street. You could definitely have a good hearty meal with with your own wine and not break the bank.

The food is delish, the service is on point, plus you can bring your own wine and beer! SOLD! Love it

Mmmmm. I love, love, love this place. The gnocchi is so good, as is the risotto. Prices are reasonable, and you get salad and bread with entrees. Desserts are absolutely wonderful, and it just feels small and homey. Bring your own bottle of wine and settle in for a wonderful meal!

Hung over and craving Italian food my hubs and I went directly to D'parmas. If you're craving carbs this is the place to come. Fresh olive oil with specks of Italian hot seasoning is on the table waiting for your fresh bread to be dipped into. You can also bring your own wine or beer here to this restaurant which is always fun. My Hunny devoured his D'parma special sub in seconds. This sub is amazing for any carnivore lover-- fresh sub roll, crispy chicken cutlet, prosciutto, mozzarella, topped with fresh peppers, basil and olive oil. Go here! And wear your spandex pants because you'll leave fat and happy!

I know there are a lot of good reviews on here, but we've tried this place 3 times since moving to Winthrop 2 years ago and have been very unhappy and disappointed every time. One time we had a server who treated us like she was doing us a favor just to wait on us. The food was mediocre at best. Tonight we ordered a chicken parm sub with extra sauce on the side and a turkey and cheese sub for take out. The turkey and cheese was actually very tasty, but the chicken parm was the worst sub my husband has ever eaten. First, we didn't get the extra sauce on the side, in fact, there was barely any sauce on the sub at all. The chicken was actually thin dried out strips of chicken, covered by thick breading. It was gross and we'll never eat there again.

It's been a long while since I'd been to D'Parma. They are as a good as I'd remember...maybe slightly better. The BYOB policy is definitely a plus. Between the two of us, we ordered the following: App - Shrimp and Portobello mushroom ravioli (special) Trout Putanesca sauce Eggplant and Chicken parm Seafood Risotto (shared as a side) Though generous portions.... every dish was pretty much wiped clean. Carbolicious overload. All reasonably priced.

Great atmosphere, nice menu selection, but short on flavor. Again, ethnic recipes whose seasonings and ingredients have been homogenized and lack the flavors that you would expect from an Italian menu. I had the tortellini soup which was excellent, and the Veal Picatta. The veal was prepared perfectly, but the sauce had little to no flavor. A little lemon juice goes a long way in a picatta sauce.

We had a nice experiencing dining there. The food is delicious and the service pretty good as well. The sea food risotto and stuffed mushrooms are our favorite! But it's strange that the charger an extra dollar per dish for dining in...

Been to D'Parmas a few times since living in Winthrop. When my friend and I dined it, service was good. Wait staff was nice and courteous. Food is okay. My boyfriend and I usually get the tortellini alfredo. I've never have any complaints about it, but my boyfriend, who's been here a lot more than I have, has said the food has gone down hill. He does however love the garden salad, the dressing that is. He absolutely loves it. He says he could drink it. I too find the dressing very appetizing. The oil they serve for the bread seems like it's bit on the spicy side. I like spice, but to be in oil meant for bread is a little too much for me. I prefer the oil they use in the East Boston location. One little complaint... it is dumb and silly, but still... I find it silly that they charge you if you ask for oil to take home but you can go crazy with it if you dine in. Like I said, it's a stupid little complaint, and I don't even like the oil, but it's one thing I noticed.

I lived in Winthrop for 7 years and this place was a staple. Very reasonable prices, delicious food and a cozy atmosphere. I only write the review now as I live in Charlotte and am thinking "if only they had a D'Parma here. It would be a goldmine!" Thank you for many years of great food and friendly service.

The best thing I like about D'Parma is that we didn't get a corking fee for the bottle of wine we brought in ourselves. I've been to places that charge up to $20 for a corking fee, so free was a very welcome change. The decorations have been revamped a little, and it shows. There is a nice tree surrounded in stringed lights with the lights threaded through some lattices up the cieling. The food we ordered was a lobster ravioli and the linguini with the frutti di mare. I liked both well enough to go back if I'm ever in the area, which is hardly ever. Was it my favorite food ever? Not so much, but it was A-OK. Our waitress was wonderful and friendly. And we had a great time. I would gladly come back and try their other dishes, maybe there's something else more my style.

Excellent place with solid Italian food and very nice people. Love the ravioli and gnocchi. You can bring your own wine!

Considering you're in the random land of Winthrop, this wasn't half-bad. They serve a ton of bread at the start, but they have a weird tasting oil at the table. The appetizers were pretty good and everyone's pasta looked great. Pretty cheap, too.

spinach chicken dinner. I'm so obsessed. The lobster ravioli is good too. I liked a couple of the desserts I tried...Cool atmosphere...very close to my bfs... everything comes out in a timely manner.

Once a year I travel up to Boston to visit my brother and see some old friends, and I insist the one place we go out to eat is D'Parma's!! Italian food in Florida is terrible and I need my Antipasto fix!! The bread is outstanding, the meats are nice and fresh the cheese is great. Then I follow that up with The Chicken Ziti and Broccoli minus the Broccoli and it is amazing too!! I am counting down the days until I come back up there for some quality Italian food

The food was more like a 4.5 to a 5. I also loved the atmospheres. I will be back soon. Great service and coat was also noteworthy. I had the eggplant parm while my friend had chicken parm. This was only after trying the stiffed mushrooms. I will no2 upgrade my rating to 5!

Really nice neighborhood trattoria that serves up traditional southern Italian food. The food is freshly prepared. The eggplant parm is a huge standout. Very reasonable prices and BYOB! There's a nice liquor store right across the street if you need to run out and get more. I've probably been here 20 times. My only negative comment is that the place is starting to look a little worn out and it's overdue for a face lift.

This hidden jewel is not to be missed. I've eaten there dozens of times over the years and I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal. The food is fantastic; the service is friendly and attentive; the portions are generous (I've taken a few doggy bags home and I'm no slouch on putting it away); the atmosphere is cozy; and the prices are right making it a great value. The same great menu is available for take out. Byob friendly and fortunately there's a great liquor store right across the street.

Great BYOB place..nice atmosphere and very reasonably priced. I live about 3 blocks away and I'm a regular. Favorites The bread and oil on the table!! Eggplant Rollitini Antipasti de la Casa Chicken Parm. Tiramisu Very good subs!!! ....Steak and Cheese is their best. (sorry no Steak and Cheese subs after 4pm..they say it takes up too much grill space) If you're sick of waiting for a table at Rosetti's try this place...you'll save a buck and the food is good and so's the service.

Still good food and fun place to go! Tonight I got the frutti di mare which was packed full of mussels, exactly what I was hoping. A heaping pile of warm crusty bread was a perfect addition to the cold night (and many jugs..yes jugs of wine). The service was quick and friendly, and there was julienned basil atop the dish (for those of you who claim they didnt have a shred of herb). Prices have gone up a lot, and hopefully they see that they should go back down soemtime, but overall its the same 4 star experience for me.

D'Parma is a local treasure. If you're in the neighborhood, it is a great place to eat. The food is well priced and you can bring your own wine or beer. The tomato sauce is delicious, not sure what some of the complaints below are about. The gnocchi, risotto, and pretty much any plate with chicken are all great. It is the perfect little restaurant to meet up with family or friends when you are in Winthrop.

If you're a fan of cream sauce, this is the restaurant for you - they put it on EVERYTHING. The stuffed mushrooms, the risotto, and my porcini ravioli was swimming in it. Now, don't get me wrong - I like to ignore medical science and enjoy a nice cream sauce every now and then, but for a moment there I was wondering if I needed to bring a defibrillator. Otherwise, I think D'Parma is your stereotypical townie Italian restaurant. The food is mediocre, the atmosphere is run of the mill, and the wait staff is ordinary. If you're nearby and hungry for Italian, this is the place to go. But it's certainly not a destination restaurant. Its only outstanding feature is that it's a BYOB restaurant. For a $3 corkage fee you can bring your own bottle of wine - a great way to make a nice dinner much more affordable. But if you can, bring your own wine glasses too, otherwise you're drinking out of water glasses, and that just feels silly.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
