First thing's first: I will NEVER call this place Town Pantry. It will forever be White Hen in my eyes, and anyone elses who's grown up in Winchester for that matter. Aahh, so many fond memories surrounding this place. From rebelling against Ma's "final word" as a small child and biking here with friends to beef up our candy stash and get hopped up on slurpees, to visiting Late-Night Johnny at 3am to scoop up a few Grape Dutchies for a little nightcap treat back in my high school daze (see what I did there?). And how could I forget the many occasions I've relied on that nasty bathroom in back to prevent me from having an accident in the backseat of my DD's car? *Sigh* I will always hold a very dear place in my heart for White Hen. Now that I'm entering my more mature, adult life, I can appreciate the finer things about this Winchester staple. For example, they carry fresh Scali bread and Piantedosi French bread, neither of which can be found at Stop & Shop down the street. They also carry a small selection of fresh produce, which can be pretty clutch if you're missing an essential item for dinner and don't feel like entering the vast abyss of S&S. They have fresh deli meats, too! Not to mention CHEAP! Solid. The only thing that sucks about this place is the fact that it's 2012 and they *still* don't accept credit cards. I mean c'amaaaan! There *is* an ATM in store, but who wants to get hit with a $5 surcharge just to buy a blunt and a packa gum?! Whatever, I'm being a brat. It's open 24/7 and is a true hallmark of Winchester, so as far as I'm concerned it can do whatever the f$@& it wants! ***Edit - it's no longer open 24/7 =( This bad Larry closes around midnight these days. Sad times. However, they *do* accept credit cards now, only it's a $10 minimum.

Town pantry has saved my butt on many occasions. It's so common for me to have all the ingredients except one to make dinner, but I'm too tired to make a big time commitment to a supermarket and negotiate a giant supermarket parking lot. Town pantry to the rescue, I'm in and out in 90 seconds with my cheese, or french bread, or onion, and on my way home to my recipe. Most of the other convenience stores around have become places with 1,000 beverages, 100 types of potato chips, and stale pastry. This is a true convenience store with a respectable variety. It's a nice bonus that there's a friendly wine store next door, too. Open 24/7.

We were mad when this place changed from a White Hen to "Town Pantry". But it's still a great little store. I get sandwiches here now and then. Not bad. Typical little 7-eleven type place. Lotta locals go here.

Town Pantry - More than just a convience store: Once you come in you're part of the family! Town Pantry is a small town convience store where the owners know the locals and regulars and are friendly towards newcomers and those who are passing through. If you come in at night be sure to say hi to John. From Lottery, to newspapers, magazines, ATM Machine, sodas/Drinks, Deli sandwiches, chips, snacks, and grocery items, cigarettes and candy/gum, the town pantry has just about anything you need. Come in and see why Town Pantry is number one in Winchester. Town pantry has decent parking and is on bus route #134 from Woburn to Wellington Station. P.S. - Dont listen to Susan's comment. She's probably just someone who doesn't like people from Winchester, because she thinks we're all rich, which isn't true. The Town pantry is a good place to get any convinence items . it is open 24 hours a day which is a good place to go especially when most of the other stores are close.d Yes they have lottery and cigarettes, but all convinience stores do. The main thing is the cashiers are friendly and its a place where a lot of people in town meet. And oh btw, Susan, its kind of mean spirited to classify everyone who goes to the town pantry poor and jobless. I know for a fact that plenty of people who have money go there and spend it there because they can find items late at night when it is convienient for them. Stop Sterotyping people Susan. If you hate Winchester so much why dont you do us all a favor and leave. We wont miss you one bit. Oh and btw Susan whether it was a joke or not, its not nice to bash a good business!!!! Town pantry employees work hard for the little money they earn. JOhn works his butt off every night!!!! and has to put up with a lot of crap. He is always friendly to everyone and strikes up conversations even with new arrivals or first timers. The Town Pantry is 24 hours and there arent many 24 hour places. I just find the 7-11's too cold and unwelcoming same with the Exxon station and such. Its more personable at the town pantry and friendlier. You feel like a person when you come in there and are treated respectfully. I have never had a bad experience at the town pantry. Every employee is great who I have interacted with. It is not a place to go just for lottery tickets and cigarettes. There are sandwiches, food, and friends . it is a place where you run into people you haven't seen in a while and share a good laugh with Johnny at night. I don't think it deserves a 1 star rating!!!! if you don't like it don't shop there. 3 maybe would be the least..but I give it five. I have come to the town pantry for years and rely on it for services late at night Johnny is great at night. You have to come in and meet him to know what I mean sometime!!!!! Everyone say hi to john at night (Except fri night) Even if it was a joke its not fair to rate a business 1 star when they overall are a good business

Do you work there? This is the place where all the folks in Winchester who are poor -- either because they are in high school or they are women over 50 or because they are -- go after leaving their second job to buy a lottery ticket, their one chance at life improvement.
