Just had their pizza, was great. Looking to come back. As an Italian from NY I can tell you they've got as good a cheese pizza in town. Pro tips: if you like crunchy pepperoni, tell them to put the pepperoni on top of the cheese. They put it under the cheese, which I like, but not as good as resting on top. The other tip, I'm not sure they do much else great there, the calzones looked great, but this is mostly a pickup/delivery 1-2 trick pony. But that pizza and calzones are damn good.

Ordinary is the word! Nothing worth mentioning as to what should be tried here. I stopped in for a quick bite on sunday afternoon. Got myself a large meatball sub with cheese. The frozen meatballs were dunked in the tomatoey gravy sitting on a hot bath of some kind. or may be a slow cooking pot. So yea, take a bread, put it in oven with cheese and slam it with floating meatball pieces along with sauce. Bam! you got a meatball sub. My wrong choice of meal selection or may be I should just realize thats the best that you can get for $7 bucks! Would choose subway over this anyday!

Best thin crust pizza in the area! Get the 18 inch.

Something as simple as pizza can be done in many different ways...so I review pizza based on personal preference. I prefer thin and crispy pizza and this place has extremely thin and crispy pizza. The pizza has a nice char to it that tastes amazing. It was very fresh and had a good amount of chewiness in relation to the crispy. The place is not much to look at ....its small with booth seats. I'll be going back for more.

I've found it! The BEST pizza in Watertown. This has been a six month journey of tastings, revelations and disappointments. And here, finally, is the one. The winner. The crust is thin and crunchy. The toppings are delicious. The service is great. They don't take checks on delivery, but you can use a credit card over the phone. I'm very pleased and happy that my search has ended in such miraculous delight.

Most times the pizza here is very good, but last week it was REALLY good. Love the buffalo, and pepperoni. Wouldn't be going there for a dine-in experience though...

Thick crust pizza fan so a little biased. Tasted OK (maybe 3 stars...certainly not 4 or 5), but way too thin for my taste. Still on the hunt for Napoli's alternative other than Pinnochio's in Harvard Square.

I definitely enjoy the pizza here, I find their sauce to be the best around - sweet and tangy, and thin-crust pizza mmm! I usually get delivery so I can't speak to the atmosphere, but their delivery and customer service is prompt and friendly!

Okay, finally made it here. Kind of crappy interior, not very welcoming or friendly staff or place. Pizza was good: thin crust, made quickly. However the they are totally skimping on the toppings. We ordered meatball and there was barely anything on it! Kind of greasy, which is okay by me. Not a clean vibe, not very comfortable but there were tables to sit at if interested. Pizza fair...still looking for a decent pizza place in the area....

The restaurant must have been busy since it took a very long time to be delivered. Tried the cheese and white roman pizza. Didn't really care for either of them.

Hands down best pizza in Watertown, and possibly all of Metro West! Been in the area 10+ years and nothing can compare to the thin, foldable greatness of a large with extra cheese....

  • April M.

I'm not a pizza person, I've said it before. So, when I find a place that can sell me on a slice, that makes me want to drive from Roslindale to Watertown (ya, seriously!) just to get my hands on it's foldable, thin-crust, cheesy goodness, then you know it's kind of a big deal. Stella's does just that. It was one of a myriad of restaurant discoveries made while I was pregnant and craving all sorts of foods that I didn't normally eat. We were (kind of) in the area one day, and I turned to my husband and said "I want pizza". He looked at my as if I had just told him I was pregnant, eyes wide and a smile ear to ear. "Serious?!" I confirmed and told him where to go. I swear to God he floored it and blew a red light to get there before I changed my mind. While the parking situation can be dodgy (be sure to have a couple quarters on hand) the pizza is well worth it. It's a small, divey pizza place with a row of typical booth-style seating on the right and a dingy (in a good way) counter on the left. A glass case displays the available slices, along with a white board on which they track which specials of the day are still available. A TV usually has some variation of sports or news on, and an old Pepsi (or was it Coke?) cooler in the back purrs underneath the booming voices of the shop guys and any regulars who happen to come in just to chat. You can get two slices and a can of soda for like $5, and these slices are huge! We have enjoyed many varieties of pizza from this place, and we just keep going back. Any time we are in the neighborhood, we don't leave without stopping in. The guys that run the place are top-notch. There isn't much else to say. Do yourself a favor and check them out.

Pizza so good that we used to order it from a town over and not be disappointed when it inevitably got cold. And props to them for delivering in Belmont. I love their crust.

If you're looking for seriously good thin crust pizza, go to Stella's! It's definitely nothing fancy - a hole in the wall with brisk service - a few tables and a lot of take out. French fries are pretty good too! =)

Great Pizza place in greater Boston area. Only had a large cheese but it was cooked to perfection. Really good pizza pretty crispy also. Would recommend. Guys behind the counter were also pretty cool.

Ordered a half roni half broccoli pizza for pick up..got the pizza and noticed the box said my name and half roni half broccoli so i didnt bother opening it. Got home to find half brocoli pizza, when i called them they told me to look through the bottom of the cheese and that its hidden under..the pizza sucked there was not enough cheese you could see tomato sauce..13.50 for a half brocoli pizza with almost no cheese on a paper crust = big dissapointment if its pizza you want i suggest going elsewhere unless you wanna spend friday night playing hide and go seek with pepparonies then be my guest.

It pains me to write this review. I came here a few weeks ago and didn't have a good pie. I asked for it to be lightly cooked, and the guy did a decent job of making sure my pizza didn't burn. However, the underside of the pizza had burnt specks all around it affecting the taste of the pizza. It was not good at all. I couldn't finish the pie and ended up taking it home, only to just want to throw it out. I won't be coming back here for a while. I don't know what or why this happened? I did notice the guy sweeping away crust particles from time to time. I'm wondering if the burnt specks were crust particles from pizza baked earlier than mine. The people who work here are super friendly and helpful though..

So disappointed. I get there in 20 minutes like they told me, my pizza is ready but my calzone is not. So I had a cold pizza and a hot calzone. Thanks Stella's.

Their pizza is a gift from the gods. Nothing in Watertown compares. They have thin, greasy, crispy pizza and their delivery is on point. I always go with a large X-Ch, can't go wrong!

Really good pizza, great employees (from the people taking my order over the phone to the really friendly delivery guy), and overall great service. I always regret it when we go elsewhere because these guys do it best.

Hands down best pizza in the area. Nice thinly sliced pizza. You can get whole wheat (amazing) or regular dough. The dough I think can really make or break a pizza. This place delivers!

I just returned to Stella's Pizza for the first time in decades and am happy to report that it's still wonderful, if not quite the same as it used to be. I used to haunt this place as a kid, but moved away from the area. Finding myself in my old neighborhood, I ordered a takeout 18" thin crust pepperoni and banana pepper pizza. Wonderful quality, similar to Upper Crust but better (and much less expensive). Had a nice chat with the new owner, a close family friend of the original owner, as well. I think I just may have to stop here every time I'm within range from now on.

It was a dreary day my friends but nothing was going to stop the Slice Guys council members, Boboli, Ellio and Tombstone from getting over to Watertown for their official monthly pizza meeting of the minds, adjourning at Stella's Pizzeria located at 605 Mount Auburn Street. Tombstone took the lead with this month's selection and much to the dismay of the others, research was not the first thing on Tombstone's agenda; he was hungry and extremely anxious for something saucy and cheesy which unfortunately left Ellio twiddling with his piePhone in anticipation for at least an hour since Stella's doesn't open until 1pm on Sunday afternoon (a tad inconvenient and strange if you ask these Slice Guys). This fact left the three of them standing in the rain dumbfounded, what to do, what to do? Since they had an additional hour to kill, the Slice Guys decided to find a local watering hole to wet their whistle. Luckily, the Mount Auburn Grille was conveniently situated about a block's distance away. Thank God for this place, what a townie oasis! This is one of those local joints that you cannot resist its dusty, dreary, old boozy charm. After working up a hearty appetite from opening the 2000lb door, the bartender sternly exclaimed NO FOOD! Something told them that this place was not recognized for their culinary delights but Ellio can attest for it's cheap beer and abundant KENO opportunities. Boboli felt right at home among "Old Grandpa's Whiskey" and circa 1950s bottle of Dewar's. Boboli had made at least two legitimate friends before we settled up the tab and headed over to Stella's for lunch. And... it's PIZZA TIME! The Pie: Stellas is your typical take out joint; it has an order counter with minimal seating (three booths to be precise). The place is clean and the staff was gracious from the start, considering the door seemed to endlessly revolve with numerous patrons who were obviously chomping at the bit to get their hands on a tasty pie to brighten up such a dark and dreary Sunday afternoon. One lady was so impatient that she intercepted the Guy's meat lovers pie, how dare she! Lucky, the Guy's were in good spirits and they are never in a rush on such special occasions such as these. One redeeming quality about Stella's drab, mom & pop decor was the fact that they had a decent flat screen HDTV to watch the 1 o'clock football game. Once again, the friendly Stella's staff were more than accommodating to The Slice Guys request to watch the Raven's versus Bengals match-up. So, enough about HDTV, rude ladies and interior design, lets get down to the real nitty-gritty...THE PIE. The pizza came out piping hot and at first glance their pie was picture perfect. The sauce was infused with oregano and basil which lead to a mildly over-sweetened flavor which was somewhat disappointing for a couple of the Slice Guys, but the cheese was good and melty with mozzarella that bubbled over like a pool of hot magma. Aside from the quality mozzarella and doctored sauce, the crust was standard. It maintained a welcomed chew and a nice crispy consistency that added an appropriate crunch. Onto pie #2. As you all know, it is Slice Guy custom to order an additional pizza. Article 1, section 7 of the Slice Guy Constitution states that the Slice Guys must ALWAYS order a house special in addition to one large cheese pizza when gathering out to an official Slice Guy pizza meeting. In Stella's case, their special pizza was appropriately entitled "The Meat Lovers". This pizza featured everything under the sun that originated from Bessie and Wilbur. This pie came out molten hot which almost placed two of the Slice Guys onto IR due to third degree burns to the lower lip. Anything with that much porky/beefy goodness is an automatic score by Slice Guys standards. In conclusion, any neighborhood would be lucky to have a joint like Stella's as their go to pizza place. The Slice Guys would definitely refer any pizza enthusiast to this establishment because all-in-all, Stella's Pizzeria makes one fine pie. Rating 5.5 Slices out of 8 Slice Perfection

For Boston and not some of the awesome places in the N End, I don't think it gets better than Stella's. Great thin crust pizza, they give you a healthy amount of toppings and its just really good. Add some red pepper flakes to it and your good to go. The lady friend likes their chicken fingers as well. Win win for all!

  • Jen B.

Pretty solid food but two stars for horrific service. Very rude, immature help. Seems like all orders are a bother to them and they are in no rush to move faster than a snail's pace even when I'm waiting for food and staring at them. I feel bad for the owner - he's super nice and seems to want to please everyone. Fire your help- they will ruin your business. So disappointed in their unprofessionalism.

Decent cuisine in a neighborhood restaurant. Cuisine closes early so make sure to come before 10PM. Air conditioning was on high so it was pretty annoying. The spaghetti me and my friend had were good.

Stella's is a block of stores with similar-looking signs on Mount Auburn. Somehow I've been going past without noticing all these joints for a while now. Finally, tunnel vision opened up, and we got a 18' thin crusted garlic and mushroom, take out. It was gone within minutes after its arrival. Not too greasy, either! Swing and a hit! Prices are reasonable, too. It's mostly traditional toppings here...for pizza purists or your Friday night family pizza. If you're in the mood for fancypants/trendy gourmet toppings (and sometimes I am), there are other places in the Boston area that cater better to those needs.

Classic pizzeria, as my buddy from NYC would say. Been going here for years & years and it's still great...have no idea what they do but the think crust is just great...not just the fact that its thin, but the crust (that is, the bread/dough) itself is tasty. Here's a tip...get one loaded with veggies and ask for it well done. Also the dudes that work there are kinda funny...not really soup-nazi like out of seinfeld, more like jokingly curmudgeonly dudes. A little bit of New York attitude in Watertown...fun times. Great pizza. Mostly a take-out joint.

Perfect crust, good prices, nice daily selection of slices, what more can you ask? Do yourself a favor and have a slice fresh out of the oven even if you're getting a pie to go.

Ordered pizza (over the phone) for the PD/FD just now from this place. I live in Kansas City so the manager was very helpful in suggesting area Police and Fire departments that would enjoy the free food. Was very helpful and assured me that they would get the pizza to local emergency crews that had not had food delivered to them yet. If I ever get to Boston I am going here. Thank you so much for helping out you guys at Stella's are great people.

This is one of those places that is always there waiting for you to rediscover it again. We used to live at this end of town in our honeymoon years and we would go here at least once a week. When I went to visit Frannie and she took me to her thin crust pizza place in Haverhill, I knew when she came to visit I would have to take her to Stella's. Simple, Thin crust, cheese pizza at it's best!

Gave it two tries since it's just down the street from our house. Mediocre pizza. Cracker-like crust and very bland ingredients. To top it off both times I've ordered it's taken about 90 minutes for delivery! Once was a Saturday night, around 8, ok... But the other was a a Sunday afternoon. The search for our go-to pizza delivery place continues...

  • Kyle G.

Best thin crust pizza in Boston? YES. Try the cheese slice and see the perfect essence of the thing, or get a meat lovers to experience the other end of the spectrum loaded with bacon, pepperoni, and sausage, slightly salty from all the meat. Maybe a few red pepper flakes thrown over if you want more zip. A great slice and coke for well under $5 is enough to make me a regular for 20 years.

Was shocked to see only 4/5 stars. If you like an honest pizza with razor thin crust, there are few if any in Stella's class. People travel far and wide for Santarpio's, and its the same thing in Watertown. Back in my high school days, my friends and I used to come here from Newton because it was worth it. Now I try to take my wife and kids a couple times a year from Somerville. I love Somerville and we used to have great pizza, but nothing compares. Sorry. A decent appetite of a hungry man can knock a large out here since the crust is thin and it seems to melt on your tongue. Slices always available and large. Go go go!

This place is AMAZING! I placed an order for pick up tonight and the man who took my order was really nice and polite on the phone...something that really helps throw a place from average pizza joint to my new weekly regular spot ! Then there was the pizza. The Crust is the perfect combination of crisp, chew and char...the trifecta. Although admittedly it was so light and airy i probably ate more then i should have. I ordered a white roman pizza, so many places attempt to make one but end up making a dry tasteless homage to the actual pizza. Stella has made the best version i have had in years. It was juicy and so savory that i had to fight off others for my leftovers. I also ordered a cheese which was still really good, the sauce a little sweet for my taste, but still really great. No questions asked I'll be back!

I recently had delivery from Stella's Pizza in Watertown. We picked it solely based on previous reviews on Yelp. Those babies did not disappoint. The thin crust pizza was packed with flavor. The delivery was under the estimated time and the pizzas were cooked well done, as requested. We ordered the White Roman, Spinach with Ham, and Mushroom pizzas. All mouth watering, tasty goodness.

I've never eaten here because I was so insulted by the owner who was taking orders for delivery. I live .3 miles away, that's less than half a mile away for those of you as bad at math as Mr. DBag. He wouldn't deliver because "We really don't go into Cambridge" and after insisting politely that he look it up to see it was not far away he still denied a delivery. I then asked if they only had delivery on bike or people walking to deliver. He then told me I could walk to Stella's myself and pick it up if it's so close. Overall, I don't care one bit about how good or bad the pizza is if I don't get treated with respect over the phone. Boycott Stella's, this guy deserves to be out of business.

This is indeed the best pizza in Watertown. Excellent thin crust, straight up cheese pizza. I especially love the mushroom, even though the mushrooms are canned. Their crust, cheese, sauce combo makes for a savory pie with yummy flavor and enjoyable texture. AND they deliver, take credit cards, and eating there can be fun. They've got classic 70s style plywood booths, and there's usually pretty good programming in the flat screen TV in the corner. Never have I seen FOX on the box!

Work down the street from Stella's and if I didn't care if I gained 100 lbs, I would eat here every day. BEST THIN CRUST PIZZA EVER!!! Hole-in-the-wall and you can miss it really easily if you don't look carefully, but pizza is amazing. If you're in the area, you have to come here. The french fries are pretty tasty too!!

Um....am I horrible for loving Stella's Pizza? I'm just curious, because up here in the grand old sticks of Maine we have a few choices (Portland Maine Excluded from this generalization): crap or greek pizza. Stella's was pretty awesome for me. Granted, I was hammered the first time I went, it made enough of an impression on me that during my next visit I was all Marlon Brando for this place. As everyone has said, the crust is thin but manages to hold its own against some toppings. The bottom has been a little black, which is crazy good....the sauce not too sweet, and cheese not too heavy and cloyingly rich. What else am I gonna tell you? Stop in, grab a slice and move on with your life..

  • Florina K.

The best pizza ever!! I wish they had seating, and a bit better service with some people. The owner is really cheap. And when i get a big pizza "for here" , and have like 5 pieces left to take home he just stacks them one on top of each other...which is a pet peeve of mine, and I have asked him for a bigger box multiple times, and still does not care and gives me the small box. But honestly the BEST Pizza EVER!!!:)

  • Karyn V.

Their pizza has a fairly crisp very thin crust, which I like. Their slices of the day change and are quite good. I would give them a fifth star for a pizza joint, however, there a several small things that could be improved. They also have Cherry Coke Zero, which is a nice change of pace I think. It is a family owned shop, and they have been in business for a long time. By the way, in case you are wondering, Stella's pizzas are a lot better than Andrea's pizza across the street. 1) Although it has not happened to me, I have seen them serve a sub that was burned. They fixed it when the customer complained, but it looked bad. I can't believe they thought it was ok to put it out there. 2) Their slice selection is great at lunch, but at night it often can be very limited. 3) The place looks like it hasn't been redecorated since it opened many years ago. 4) The family at least twice has had a disagreement in front of customers, which is uncomfortable. 5) This is a pizza joint. If it was me, I would stick to ordering the pizza. Their other options are limited, and you can get better subs and salads (those other options) elsewhere.

I love Stella's. For years I drove past it, thinking it was a scary joint in that sort-of dingy block of storefronts in Coolidge Square, but after my friends raved about it, I gave it a try. Love it. Mind you, I love thin crust pizza, so those who prefer a doughier crust might not share my enthusiasm. Here's a tip: sometimes the crust tastes like the box when it cools during delivery. Just put the slices in a hot oven for about five minutes, and the twice-baked pizza is even better. I find a cheese pizza is better with double cheese. Their sausage pizza is wonderful, as is mushroom and black olive combo. One day not too long ago, I ordered a toasted Italian sub (with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickle, and oil). It was probably the best sub I've had in ages. They use wonderful braided sesame-seed rolls. The guys who work there are efficient and friendly. One of them has arms the size of Popeye's.

I hope Stella's is listening- don't know if Mike is still the owner. What happened to your pizza?? I have been a loyal Stella's fan since the 60s when the original owners were there. It was a tasty tomato sauce with the BEST crust ever. It is lacking severely- I haven't come in lately after the last pizza. Please get it together!!

Physics-defyingly thin crusts. Awesome assortment of special pizzas. Cool, heavily accented dudes behind the counter. So far, its my favorite pizza in Boston. Though, I had delivery once, and it was way less good. Not sure what that was about. Besides that, it's awesome. I'm addicted to the meat-lovers pizza.

Stella's warranted my first time yelp review, and not in a good way. After numerous friends raved about the pizza which I found to be mediocre at best, we ordered a buffalo chicken calzone, buffalo wings, and greek salad. The "cubed" chicken on the calzone and salad -- which tastes like it came from a can -- was horrific. The buffalo wings were a farce. They came with franks which you had to pour on yourself and sucked anyways. The buffalo chicken calzone was terrible -- in Charles Barkley's voice -- and came with Ken's blue cheese packets. Finally, the greek salad had more olives and feta then lettuce and was topped with the house canned chicken. Overall a terrible meal and made me want to puke. Mind you I was half in the bag when I ate this so a pepperoni pizza from Dominos would have tasted like the Capital Grille at this point -- that bad. Thanks Stella!

Let me start off by saying that I have eaten a lot of pizza in my days. I have lived all across the country and I have never had pizza as good as Stella's. Great thing is, I live maybe 75 yards from them! The pizza is a thin style huge pie. The crust is great, and you even get a little char off the oven that really gives every pizza it's own personality if you will. As for their best pies, I like the meat lovers myself. Everything is really good, except maybe their buffalo chicken pizza. I just feel like the buffalo sauce they use is pretty lackluster. Dont get me wrong, still good in it's own right, just not something I would order when everything else is so good. A word to the wise though, they do skimp a little on the cheese, but maybe that just me cause I love cheese. yet I promise you, if you get a single topping or something, get extra cheese with it, it will make it 10x better. My go to is pepp and extra cheese. You wont regret it.

What can I say? Stella's Pizza is yummy. And that's all I really have the right to comment, because that is all I've ever had- Stella's cheese pizza. My family became regular consumers of the pizza a few years back after Napoli closed. Sometimes we'll get Domino's (yuck!) and very occasionally, Comella's, but we're mainly a Stella's family now. On to the pizza- thin crust and good amount of cheese and sauce. I'm rather petite but I'll eat three or four slices because they are thin. It's filling without leaving you feeling like you have a rock sitting in your stomach. From my highly scientific experiment (aka, getting Stella's basically every Friday night (Demos is Saturday)) I concluded that nine times out of ten, the pizza is perfection, but every so often you're bound to get a weird pizza or two. Keep in mind however, I like my pizza golden but not burnt...as in even a bit of singe on my crust makes me cringe...so the infrequent dark speckles on the bottom of the pizzas is what makes it a 4.5 for me. Get Stella's, it's good stuff.

Thin thin thin - everyone wants thin. Crust that is. But too much Stella's and we won't be thin ourselves. No no, not when it goes down this easy. Too easy. The LF and I, following up on various leads and tips that always seem to lead us to Watertown for our pizza needs, resisted the tractor beam pull of Celebrity (our usual haunt) down the street and pushed on to Stella's for a midafternoon snack. Perfect thin crust pizza, crispy, not overloaded with sauce, or cheese, or toppings, but all perfectly proportioned out with even-Steven distribution. Harmonious.

I'm always looking for the perfect pie. This is right up there with Regina's so if you need to compare it to something you like, you can get an idea of what your missing if you don't go to Stella's. I found this accidentally a few years back before there ever was such a thing as Yelp. That's what makes this a really special place for me. I eventually found other pizza snobs who recommended thereafter when conversing about pizza joints. I can't give it a 5 star, but I should. The only reason I don't is because I know there's still a better slice out there.

08/07/15 UPDATE: DELIVERY HAS GOTTEN REALLY SLOW IN THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS. WE STILL LOVE THE PIZZA BUT MY RECOMMENDATION IS THAT YOU PICK IT UP IF YOU LIVE CLOSE BY. Stella's makes the best thin crust pizza in the area. I would go so far to say that it comes extremely close to matching the quality and taste of, New Haven's own, Pepe's Pizza. We usually order delivery at least once a week. Their sausage is spicy, just the way I like it. I recommend their sub's as well. On busy nights, they often say that delivery will be 45 min to an hour, but my spouse and I have never waited that long. If we are starving, we just pick it up ourselves. Everyone who works there is very friendly too. It's a pleasure to do business with them.

I always order Stella's pizza for the gang at work when I need to bribe into doing something unpleasant. This pizza is great--the larges are huge, the crust is thin, the sauce has chunks of tomatoes. The jalapeno pepper or green pepper, onion, and mushroom are always popular. Thanks, Stella, for using fresh mushrooms. Canned mushrooms make pizza sad. The service has always been good too. Usually I'm scheduling a big order to be delivered at a particular time, and Stella's has always accommodated me.

Have not had their pizza. But there were many men in the place happily eating slices of pizza for lunch so that must count for something... Bought a BLT sub there for lunch the other day to go. The sub bread was fresh and fine. The lettuce was fresh and shredded. The tomatoes were perfect. The mayo was evenly distributed. But the bacon... Bacon bits. Really Stella's? Bacon bits? I mean, they were larger bits than you'd find in a salad but not much bigger. They were tasty... it's just that actual strips of BACON belong in a BLT, not bacon bits... And bacon bits in a BLT sub are very messy to eat. Just sayin'...

This is what a local pizza place should be like. Nice people, great food, and the occasional soccer game on the TV. This is just very good, thin crust, NY/NJ style pizza. Big slices. Different specialty toppings every day. Fountain soda with free refills. Fried dough. What more do you need? They've also got this awesome "fry-o-matic" machine for mozzarella sticks/chicken fingers that I've never seen anywhere else. It's a big metal box that looks like a "futuristic" cooking appliance from the 1960s, where they open a draw, drop in the stuff to fry, close the draw, and wait. A few minutes later, your stuff comes popping out, perfectly cooked. Only thing keeping it from five stars is that the sandwiches are just average.

Stella's is stellar! The folks here consistently make a solid thin crust pie and I can always count on them when I'm in a cheesy, saucy kind mood. I think the trick to their pizza has something to do with their age old oven (I believe they were established in the mid 1960s). Every time you pick up a pizza from there it looks like someone played the famous powdered chicken prank on all the employees because they're always covered in flour. AAAACCCTIOOOOONNNN!!!! POOOOFFFTTTT, powder puff to the face. Either someone is playing a joke on them or they really and I mean really get into the pizza making process. Making a good pie takes hard work and dedication and by the looks of this place, they are working hard! Don't mistake all this for uncleanliness or unsanitary conditions because Stella's is far from being dirty. They're just very productive, especially since their pies are in high demand (Watertown is laden with crappy below average pizza joints). The Pie - It's an Italian style, thin crust that is perfectly balanced from the crunchy flavorful mantle to the mild, yet, tangy sauce topped with fresh mozzarella and well cooked extras. Definitely one of my favorite pizza joints and did I mention it's SUPER cheap!!! It took me a while to find this place and ever since, Stella's has become my go-to pizza place. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Stella's has placed in my top 5 for best pizza in the Boston/Watertown area. FYI - Just stick to the pizza, the other stuff is decent but definitely not their specialty.

Best thin crust pizza in the Belmont/Watertown area. I've never tried any of their other food, but this is always a solid choice on pizza night, especially if we're in the mood for thin crust. Delivery is soooo slow though...usually like an hour wait...luckily it's about a 2 minute drive, so we just go and pick it up.

love it, love it, love it. best Pizza ( thin crust) in town, great Subs, at least the Veggie sub I had, and I had them everywhere, is the best of all.. loaded with fresh veggies. the only complaint I have that I have to cross Watertown Square to get there, otherwise, I will eat there every day... Try it.. you will not regret it

This pizza is awesome. Every single time, the pizza is well-made and crispy. They are overtaxed on delivery, so I try to do myself the favor and get over there to pick up my pizza, as I like it right out of the oven. Their subs are also excellent. Probably because they make them on impossibly fresh Scali bread. We love Stella's!

Best thin crust pizza slice around. A true local pizza joint, they have a great variety of thin crust slices daily cheese, peperoni, meat lover, a special white sauce and usually a chicken special as well. I like them all but meat lovers and cheese are my favs white sauce is pretty good as well. Great for quick bite they have tables and fountain drinks as well. The guys can seem a bit rude if its busy but their alright for sure! Also great for local delivery or pick just reccomend making sure its hot when you eat so you might need to pop it into the oven for a few when you get it home.

The BEST THIN CRUST! If you like thin crust - this is for you. It's the best around. Not to mention, the sandwiches are on this incredible scali roll.. mm.. could go for one right now. The interior is just your typical pizza joint. Nothing special. But the food is it, it really is.

$3 for a huge "daily special" slice with extra thin and crispy crust? How can you go wrong?!?! The "meat lovers" is the best and is loaded with large chunks of bacon, generously sprinkled with pepperoni and covered in ham (order a side of Lipitor to go with it HAHA). The the "Hawaiian" comes in a close second with the added kick of the banana peppers. Hands down the best pizza in Watertown.

Stella's has slid way down hill. They still won't put 2 slices of pizza in a box like civilized pizzerias do. Now their pizza isn't good anymore. They hang on to their cheese too long... ie taste's sour, moldy. Also the crust has thinned even more than it used to be. Another pizza place bites the dust.

Cold and disappointing. After reading the reviews we were looking forward to a good pizza. We ordered a pepperoni pizza, moz sticks, and a Greek salad. The food came really cold and the pizza had almost no pepperoni. So it doesn't matter what the flavor is if it can't be delivered warm. The salad was the only part that was pretty good. I don't know if it was a fluke, but I probably will be more inclined try another place before ordering from here again.

Bingo ! Here is a winner if you are in the Waterton / Belmont area. Stellas serves thin crust pizza. In a neighborhood where greasy Greek pizza is the norm.... Stellas is a stand out. - Thin crust pizza - Excellent value Six or seven booth style tables and counter service. Friendly family owned place that has been around for a couple generations.

I really like Stella's Pizza. Apparently, my dad used to hang out here back in the day and so I have been grandfathered in as a patron. The pizza may not be the greatest in the world but it's big and THIN and tastes great after a day of moving OR reheated after a night on the town. They are usually pretty quick if you don't call your order in ahead of time. I have ordered on the spot and then sat around and joked with the guy behind the counter for the 15 minutes it took to make the pizza. Nice people, good pizza, decent prices. The only bad thing is that coming from Brighton I have to hit Arsenal Street or Watertown Square to get there. Boo.

First - only in Massachusetts do people refer to this as thin crust. This can only happen in a place where something that appears pizza-esque but is swollen and fat can be accepted as pizza. In places where people know pizza, thin crust is where the crust is crispy like a cracker. What Stella's is is PIZZA. Just pizza. And it's freakin tasty, It joins a short list of places in the Boston area that make what can be called pizza by people who've eaten real pizza. Very friendly service, good prices. But what's most important is that they make really awesome PIZZA with good ingredients. Not some bastardized version of pizza that should be sold at chain restaurants and places with lots of over bred families. Now eat PIZZA!

Old-school pizzeria in Watertown, a friendly, family-run place with very fine thin-crust pizza. Asked what I thought about Stella's the other day, I went on at some length about the swank South End fine-dining Italian destination. "No, no, MC: I'm talking about Stella's, the pizza joint in Watertown, not Stella." Aha! I'd never been to this storefront that is widely admired on chowhound.com for its big slices of thin-crust pizza. Luckily, it's my job to review worthy cheap-eats places, even 48-year-old ones. The current proprietor, there since 1984, is one of those genuinely warm family-business owners you love to give your patronage to. It doesn't hurt that his pizza is really, really good. Stella's works in the Neapolitan-inspired, Italian-American idiom, creating a thin-crust pie ($6.45/12"; $9.45/16"; $10.95/18") in a gas-fired oven, topping it with a smooth, faintly sweet marinara and not too much low-moisture mozzarella. Toppings ($1-$2 each) are fresh (no canned mushrooms here), high-quality, and mostly old-school: expect more options like pepperoni and anchovies than pesto and sundried tomatoes. The slice ($2.25-$3) is a good 10 inches across at the crust edge, if not quite big enough for a homesick New Yorker to fold in half. Stella's puts the perfect light char on its crust, which runs from thin to very thin: the 18" pie is the 16" rolled out thinner. I think this thinness favors eating it immediately out of the oven; a to-go pie will necessarily lose some crispness. I recommend the "thick dough" upgrade ($1-$1.75), too; the modest additional thickness allows for the development of some bubble structure, yielding a richer, chewier texture without upsetting the sauce/cheese flavor balance. The menu also includes a few deli-style sandwiches ($4.50-$6.50) on good Italian rolls or Syrian bread, like Italian cold cuts, chicken salad, breaded/fried cutlets, and excellent housemade beef/pork/veal meatballs, generously loaded; the small has eight meatballs the size of ping-pong balls. A deep fryer produces an assortment of comparatively run-of-the-mill appetizers like chicken tenders ($4.25-$6.95), jalapeño poppers ($4-$6.50), and curly fries ($2.75-$4). Drink options include the usual American sodas, energy drinks, and juices ($1.45-$2.25). The room is prototypical mid-century neighborhood pizza parlor: a few booths, TV, Celts/Sox/B's/Pats memorabilia. You could say it's a throwback in a lot of ways: attractively priced, super-friendly, not a chain, doing the original American pizza style, and shunning precious gourmet touches. It certainly ain't the South End -- and in this case, that's a very good thing.

I just saw this review and had to comment. Just moved away from Watertown. i had been living there for 10 yrs and Stella's was the go to Pizzeria. Of course there are a few other good ones on the area, but if you live in East Watertown, you can't ever go wrong with Stella's. One of the best thin crusts around. After eating their pizza you don't feel gross and bloated. I place I will definitely miss! I only gave it 4 stars because I still think Santarpio's is the best, however much to far to go pick up a pizza when living in Watertown!

I love Stella's! They have the best thin-crust pizza around. A perfect combination of crust, amazing sauce and toppings. When I was little, linguica was a common topping on the bar room style pizza's we'd get, and I was so happy to see this as an option! It's rare around here! I also agree with an earlier review - I appreciate the fresh mushrooms. Aside from the pizza itself, the ordering and delivery experience is a pleasure....they've clearly put some thought into the customer experience. They tell me my address - I don't have it give it to them, and they quote the delivery time up front and ask if that's ok - so I'm not waiting 40 minutes and expecting 20. I'm thinking they quote conservative estimates because the pizza has always arrived ahead of time. Stella's is a refreshing change from the typical take-out experience. Keep it up, guys!

Sorry to everyone else... but this is the BEST pizza around- HANDS DOWN!! I have been eating in this joint since I was a kid, and have never found pizza better than Stella's. I have tried everything everywhere, and always revert to Stella's as the standard. Not much else to say about the place- not somewhere I go for sandwiches or salads... but the pizza is to die for. Crust is thin and flavorful, the sauce is perfectly bright and fresh, and the cheese is exactly what it should be. This is not a really oily pizza, and I dont feel sick after eating an entire large. OH- the pepperoni is def my favorite... tell em to burn it just a little on the edges!!

Stella's is the best Italian-style pizza in the area, bar none. It earns five stars in my book for the following reasons: 1) I love Italian-style pizza, as does my Italian wife from NY, and if she loves it then you know it's fantastic. 2) Their subs are big, loaded with whatever you want, and their ingredients are excellent. I love subs from here. 3) Every appetizer I've had there was great or excellent. Can't ask for more from a pizza place. 4) Cheap cookies by the register. Hey, when you want to buy dessert for less than a buck, it counts!

Stella's is my favorite pizza in MA hand's down. The thin crust pizza is always cooked perfect and the ingredients are always fresh. And they make your pizza the way YOU want it. I like mine well done and they do it right every time. The Hawaiian is the best you will find anywhere. In my neck of the woods there is nothing that compares to Stella's but when I go to a friends house for poker every now and then We ALWAYS have to get our pizza from here. Stop in and grab a slice and see for yourself how the pizza is. You won't regret it.

Excellent New York-style pizza. The thin crust makes it easy to fold, Brooklyn-style, and the sauce, cheese, and dough are all top quality. Probably one of the best takeout pizza joints west of Boston, in my opinion.

This place has gone downhill recently, Almost like they have the mentality that they are untouchable. (Like placing customers on hold for extremely long periods of time.) I've been going to this place for the past year because the pizza was so good and the last two times I have gone to Stella's I was completely unsatisfied and disgusted, The bad experience I had was when I called 10 minutes before arriving and when I arrived they had completely forgot to put my pizza in the oven I thought no big deal they are busy and simply forgot so I waited for a new pie to be made. The second time I called and 12 minutes later arrived at the store. After letting the employees know whom I was and that I had placed a phone order the same thing happened they started looking all over the place and blaming each other for forgetting to put the pizza in the oven. By now I have had it, two times in a row?!?!?REALLY!?! So after stating how I was completely unsatisfied with the service and told them that they had lost a customer and to not bother throwing the pizza in the oven I was confronted by an older man who told me with broken English " No need to be mad your order is ready" first of all my name is not "Karen" second of all my name is not "Gabe" who's pizza they ended up giving me in an attempt to fix the situation after I gave them a piece of my mind. The pizza was completely burned on the bottom and stone cold as if it was sitting there for 20 minutes waiting for "Gabe". The part that aggravated me the most was that I did not even get a thank you or an apology from anyone at the store. Needless to say they have lost a customer I'll take my money and all the new customers I gave them the entire year elsewhere.

I've been coming here since I was a little kid. It has the best NY style slice you can get around the area. I would even say best around the Boston area. The slice are a pretty good size and they aren't to expensive. You've gotta try the buffalo chicken slice... DAMN it's good.

The pizza is pretty good, the crust is very thin and I'm more of a thick crust lover. That being said it is hard to find a place in Watertown that serves anything but pre-made, spongy Greek style crust so Stella's is good once in a while. My only complaint is that the toppings can be scarce. Whether they are hiding under the cheese or not remains a mystery.

Best pizza around Watertown and most of the area. Been going there for years. Very thin crust, great sauce and decently priced. Its pretty much a hole in the wall ,but they do a great business. The calzone's there are huge and good, but I always go for the gold and get the pizza...mmmm

Delicious thin crust pizza and they put the peperoni under the cheese, I dont know if this really add's anything special but i dig it. Pretty good chicken parm also. If you call it in and its not ready when you get there go down 2 stores to the supposed convience store that really doesnt sell anything but old and sad people the dream of winning it big in keno and or scratch tickets, I think they sell cigaretes and a few bags of chips, but back to stella's it rules so go.
