All of a sudden my delicious spinach, feta, and tomato calzones started to get really THIN, and SOGGY. As if they're taking a few pieces of frozen spinach, and putting it right into the calzone to bake, rather than thawing it and squeezing out the water first. I'll probably give them one more chance, but if the calzone continues to be thin (around a 1/2 inch in the middle, when they used to be a lot thicker and crispy on the outside) and worst of all, soggy on the bottom, I'll have to search around for a tasty spinach and feta calzone elsewhere! (anyone got a good suggestion?)

The place just opened so I'll cut em some slack. I ordered the Chicago Italian beef sub, and yes it was awesome :) But I also grabbed a couple slices. After a mess up by the counter girl I received my 2 slices and headed home. Well one was burned to the scope of being uneatable, and the other was never warmed up. I was disappointed to say the least! Def try the Chicago beef and give em some slack, lol everyone has to start out new.

I haven't tried anything but the pizza, but its the best pizza that I've had in Waltham. Orders are ready quickly, too!

Best pizza in the area by far! Courteous and prompt service every time (on the phone/in the store, pickup/delivery). Love this place!!

Bad. Oh my god bad. I should've listened to Wendy. Pizza was lower quality than Dominos. "Cheese" was disgusting. I actually got angry at how bad the pizza was and threw my piece away mid slice (that marks a first for me). My roommate found a hard rock-like chunk (maybe a chef's tooth?) in his chicken parm sub. I found a piece of hard plastic in my eggplant parm sub. Let me repeat that if you read it too quickly: there are rock-like chunks and hard plastic chunks in the subs! We got 2 subs. Both had inedible chunks. The inedible-chunks-to-subs ratio is way too high. I won't be trying this place again.

I like this place- nice slice of pie, great italian subs and cold grape soda always on hand! the staff are fun and friendly, and you can tell that they take pride in their business- only pizza place i've been to in waltham with a little personality- that "good pizza joint" feel.

Let me tell you this... I've eaten pizza all over the US & Canada and eat it three times a week for life. NY holds it's own and is in my personal top ten pizza tastes of all time. The negative reviews have to be competition or friends of jealous establishments. Delivery is crazy fast and ingredients are off the chain. If you want to take your chances down the line on Moody Street's bug infested drag roll those dice... PTD PS, note mosyt of the negative pub is from out of state. Are they talking about the same place??

I tried this place last week. The service was speedy and friendly. The crust of the pizza was hand stretched and thin, which i like. The sauce was a little too sweet for my taste. Overall a good pizza place.

Great food, not just pizza, and very reasonable. The pizza is great, the best I have tried in the general area thus far. I am also a huge fan of their jalapeño poppers, not spicy at all, but delicious. If you are looking for a great carry out pizza spot in the waltham/auburndale/newton area, definitely give NY Pie a shot. I can see myself becoming a regular.

I'm surprised to see a handful of haters on here. I work very close by to NY Pie and eat here way more than I should (as my pant size is concerned.) Staff is great, they are quick, efficient, and friendly. Food is always ready when I go to pick it up. The ONLY suggestion I would make is to give a two-tier size option on things. Everything is huge. I think a small sub option would be very well received. However, having said that, it is a great value considering the moderate price.

Good place! I've ordered the buffalo chicken wrap and to my surprise it showed up at my door with chips and a pickle. I also ordered an hawaiian pizza and it was very tasty! Probably my new fave delivery place, since I'm new to the area.

Wow, this was good pizza, just great quality and good value for the money. I've said the same thing on the review for D&A Pizza in the Lake.. To all you NY/NJ transplant clowns who do nothing but bitch and moan about pizza in Massachusetts.. Please go back to where you came from.. You know, to your over-populated cesspool of a state with crappy colleges and rampant crime.. Just like former NY Jets QB Chad Pennington, your over-hyped pizza is nothing more than a New York media creation. You can get a good slice right here in metro Boston.

My favorite pizza/sub/food joint since moving to Waltham. Ordered so far, and would order again: Hawaiian pizza with peppers and onions Cheese steak with peppers, onions and mushrooms Chicken caesar salad wrap So happy that NY Pie exists, don't know what I would do without them!

Best pizza in town. Best people in town. Eat it and be like YEAH THIS IS YUM AF! nom nom all night long in the hotel pizza party room watching LeBron slay weaker individuals while eating pizzeria! Yum. Happy times. Big fun! Cheese! Love you Matt

the absolute best pizza around waltham. I first discovered it when my friend moved houses and I helped him load his furniture up in a storage unit nearby. Dante, the owner, is always there and works extremely hard. you will see lots of people wearing medical scrubs, uniformed police, construction guys, and students eating there at all hours. my food's been perfect every time, and having worked in 2 restaurants, I know how to tell when the ingredients / meats / veggies are high quality.

Great wraps, especially their Greek wrap. Pizza is decent. Grinders are good too. The fries are good if you ask for well done. They are quick for takeout and delivery is usually timely as well.

Best pizza in the area. Biggest pies around. Lots of variety and creativity. Quality dinners and salads. Subs are huge. Quality all-around and great service.

Not good pizza. The topping and cheese were all ok and the fold factor was there with big NY style slices, but the crust was cardboard dry. Second time ordering from here to give it a fair evaluation but they did not impress. Delivery took 1 1/2 hours on a Thursday night at 6:30 and when it got here the food was barely room temperature. They chicken fingers were ok but again they were not hot at all. Only reason we got pizza here was because they deliver, but in hind sight Franco's or Pinni's would have been a way better choice.

In the three years since opening NY Pie has come a long way. I still wouldn't rank them above your average pizza/sub takeout place but it's has slowly become my favorite of the bunch. I appreciate that they use local hormone free ingredients whenever possible - now if only they'd finally get around to offering gluten free pizza dough (I'm not gluten free but have local friends who are).

Order the Steak Parmesan Sub. There's literally nothing else you should ever order other than the steak parmesan sub. They toast the bread for you... it's crunchy on the outside and hot and chewy on the inside, it's cheesy, slightly sweet from the marinara... it's pretty much one of the best if not THE best steak and cheese I've had around these parts. I mean... I'm sure there are other good dishes on the menu but you can't go wrong when ordering this. I intend to order it again soon so that I can add in a picture!

We ordered 1 large cheese pizza for delivery tonight at 6:30pm and were quoted 30 minutes. Wanted to catch a movie at Embassy Theater for 8pm (we live 5 minutes away). The delivery showed up at 7:39pm. Oh, and the pizza was cold. We're currently heating it up in the oven. If I wanted to cook a pizza I wouldn't have ordered delivery. We live 7 minutes away from NY Pie. Really? Get it together. There goes our movie plans and $15 on crappy, cold pizza. Never again.

I can't say enough about the guys at NY Pies. We recently hosted a skateboard contest at the park across the street and NY Pies brought over 5 free pizzas to donate to our event. We were shocked and very touched that they would go out of their way like that. The kids were psyched and the pizza was super yummy! Great crust, sweet but not too sweet sauce, great cheese to sauce ratio. All in all great pizza from a great shop! Thanks again NY Pies!!

At first I was like, "NY? I @#$%ing hate NY!" But then I had the pizza... and it was glorious. Great pizzas, in terms of both size and taste. Extremely friendly and engaging staff - they even held the door open for me when I was exiting. You can order online, and the service is super quick. They have a ton of great recipes, or you can build you own.

I work in the area, so I go regularly. I have no complaints about the food- it is all delicious and fresh. I get the chicken salad on a sub roll, and it is to die for! Infact, I find if I wait too late in the day to get my sub, they are out of chicken salad! I like that it is made daily. My only complaint (and reason for not giving 5 stars) is that the portions might be a little too large, and as a result you end up paying $12 for a massive sub. I suggest making half sub portions for those of us who cant put away a 14-16 inch sub in one sitting, for those of us with smaller appetites. Otherwise, well done!

I have ordered, on separate occasions, pizza, chicken parm and a steak and cheese sub. The pizza and sub were barely okay and the chicken parm had all this crazy melted cheese all over it; not in a good way. Lots of dining choices in Waltham and will pass on this place in the future.

Some of the best chicken fingers I have eaten from a pizza/sub shop in the area! Pizza is pretty good; I'd say 6 or 7 on a scale of 1 to 10. Pleasant staff answering the phones. Delivery people are okay. Overall, my first few experiences with NY Pie have been pretty darn good. I'll be glad to order from them again.

  • Brian K.

Not only is the service spectacular, the food served is better that the North End. The variety of pizza is superior and it is always fresh from the oven. My recommendation would be to make NY Pie your home away from home when it comes to pizza destination!

  • Alex C.

Stick with the pizza and appetizers, very tasty! My friends tried their subs and I think that's the reason why their name isn't NY Pie an Subs but it just NY Pie. They also have fast delivery. Great place to get a good pie from!

This pizza is as good as anything you'll find in Boston's North End. Delicious, Italian-style pie that is giant! Much bigger than anyone around. Well worth the trip, (or delivery).

Recently we were filming a student project nearby and NY Pie generously donated food for our entire crew including dietary restrictions. As the person in charge of food for the entire 12 day shoot, this was the most popular meal. He made us Reuben sandwiches, a large salad and a tray of jalapeño poppers. He even threw in a foot long BLT that someone never picked up. Delicious food, generous people - I'm so glad we know about this gem now!

Never had Chicago Italian beef before and it was incredible. It was made with a perfect mix of spices and dipped juice that went well with the fresh crunchy bread. Also tried the pizza and I particularly liked the thin crust style pizza that had the perfect blend of cheese and sauce. Overall I was very happy with the service and food, and I will definitely order take-out from them again. Make sure to try the Italian beef with the giardiniera and provolone.

I love NY Pie Buffalo chicken, subs and pizzas. They have friendly staff and quick delivery. Also, we get their coupons through spoolads.com . I recommend to everyone. Try it.

Good pizza... satisfyingly greasy and doughy. However, as a native New Yorker and recent Boston transplant, it is definitely not NY pizza. If you go in with non-NY expectations, it's quite yummy! I recommend the pepperoni and mushroom.

Just had 20 guys over for football DRAFT NIGHT and ordered 10 pies from these guys , When I told them it was for my draft they gave me a free pizza because I ordered 10 - Must have been a weekend special , The pies are HUGE like 4 inches bigger than dominoes etc. Delivered HOT and fast , tons of fresh toppings not that canned crap and they didn't skimp Definitely ordering again

I am giving them 4 stars because the owner is so freaking nice!! I went there to get my son a sub 10 mins before they closed, the door was locked, he let me in...couldn't get a sub but he gave me 5 pieces of pizza! Anyway, I do like the pizza, I think its even better the next day reheated in the oven and like I said, the owner is a great guy, always remembers this crazy Sicilian!

we order NY pie for the office at least a couple times a week - they have great food: our favorite = greek salad w/ (a generous portion of) grilled shrimp, we always get it with the delish balsamic dressing! The guys are always friendly and prompt for our 12noon delivery time, what more could u ask for?! A+ in my book...

We live about two blocks from NY Pie and were very eager to try it. We only got around to it last night, hoping they would have worked out any kinks since they opened a few months ago. We ordered a combination pizza. The pizza was HUGE, I will give it that. The toppings were fresh, the sausage and pepperoni were excellent. Why the low rating, you ask? The pizza was so soggy it could not be eaten without a knife and fork. The crust, at least that which was not a sodden mess, was oddly salty yet without flavor, if that is possible. We were quite disappointed, especially since their pizza is a bit pricey. We reluctantly ate the left overs for dinner tonight and are feeling even more dissatisfied than last night. Pini's and Angelo's have much better pizza. So sorry, NY Pie. We really hoped we would like you.

Friendly staff, great food, fast service. We have ordered here a few times and sampled the subs, pizza, and calzones. We normally call and pick up ourselves but the times we have had delivery it's always been fast. Will continue to order from here.

First off, why businesses in New England continue to name themselves "New York, NY," boggles my mind. Why would a Boston area business owner think it was a good idea to name their new business after a city that we so despise? Plus, its not like we live in Tucson, AZ that has no culinary identity. We live outside of BOSTON! A top 5 food city in the country!! Dumb idea. As for the actual restaurant, they did a great job of redecorating the place with brick and modern finish. My only gripe with the decor was that the menu signs were INCREDIBLY difficult to read. It was typed in what seemed to be like 12 font, but because it was up above the counter it was very difficult to read. Squinting didn't even help much and I don't even need glasses. For the food, I got a small pepperoni pizza and an Italian Beef sandwich. They used the large deli stye pepperoni which i thought was a nice touch, and the cheese was tasty, however, that's the easy part. The crust was run of the mill and mediocre. Overall, a solid pizza but nothing i would go out of my way for or tell anyone they had to try it. As for the Italian Beef; it's basically a roast beef sandwich served on a sub roll, but the roast beef is extra spicy and they stew it in its own juices after its been sliced. The entire sub is usually dipped in the juices as well; a la "French Dip" sandwiches. It's served with an Italian spicy pepper relish called "Giardiniera". The sandwich was solid but a little pricy (like 10-11) for what is basically just a sub. Overall a decent little place but much like 90% of restaurants, nothing special.

Great food for a great price. Ok it's not quite NYC but pretty freggin close! Try the steak and cheese....forget the chicken! Fries are awesome too! Pepperoni pizza rocks as well!

Giant slices are fun, but I didn't try the pizza. I came for the Italian Beef, since this is only the second place in Massachusetts that I'm aware of that offers Italian Beef sandwiches, the other being Windy City Eats in Weymouth. The Italian Beef at NY Pie comes by default with giardiniera, roasted RED peppers, on an enormous 14" or so italian sub bread. First of all, Chicago Italian Beef uses roasted GREEN peppers, and the peppers, giardineira, cheese, and juiciness are all supposed to be options, specified when you order. NY Pie makes a good beef sandwich, but the giardineira is all ground up, not spicy enough, wrong roasted peppers, no cheese option visible, and tastes nothing like Chicago Italian Beef. That said, it was large, and DELICIOUS! Just not Chicago Italian Beef. For that, I'm going to have to keep driving down to Weymouth :-(. May come back for a giant slice though!

This place is awesome. My staff and I work at a dance studio near by and we get ALL of our food here. Whether it's lunch, dinner, or our Friday night social parties, Dante and his staff are always amazing and the food is delicious. The apple walnut with steak is great for something that is light and filling. Best pizza in town : )

This place came highly recommended, so maybe my expectations were too high, but it was just a totally average pizza experience. I ordered a Hawaiian and it was decent, but nothing special as far as pizza goes.

I've given it a few times of ging back. The name had me sold ( NY) but have not been happy any of times with what i choose. Staff is friendly but the food is just OK - which is too bad.

I got into Waltham from NYC and was starving. After calling 3 other restaurants, we found NY Pie. I knew it was a sign! We ordered penne with meatballs and chicken parmigiana. It was a lot of food, which I'm grateful for b/c it lasted two nights. The food was hot and pretty good, especially the meatballs. My only issue was the quality and quantity of sauce - low and watery. Overall I was satisified.

This is my new favorite pizza place. The pizza is where it's at, The buffalo tenders are the biggest I've ever seen, and sandwiches will feed a family of four. The delivery guys aren't the most personable folks but they're friendly. If you haven't given this place a shot I would. I'm just working my way down the menu and haven't run into something I don't like.

I am always cracking on how Boston does not know a thing about pizza (and it usually doesn't), however this place does! Makes sense that it's called NY Pie. Pizza slices are cheesy, thin, and just the way I like it. It can be overly greasy but other places pale in comparison to NY Pie. Service was awesome as well! I strongly look forward to getting pizza from here again!

Located in the quieter segment of an otherwise fairly busy Moody Street is NY Pie. The small restaurant offers up some pizzas, subs and various other items in a casual setting and is located directly across the local skate park. It has a private lot with a few spots and they strive to make fresh food with good ingredients. Fast forward nearly a half a dozen visits and it's been a good experience overall. I've only done pickup since I live within a stone's throw away, and while the pizza isn't the best in Waltham, it's decent and their subs are top notch. The bread they use is incredible. It's crunchy and soft and works very well with just about any type of sub I've had there, from buffalo chicken subs to eggplant parm. It's large enough to be filling and the ingredients they use are great. It also feels a bit less greasy than Carl's which is less than a mile away but is more expensive with subs averaging $8-9 which is a bit steep and at least a dollar more than most places. Not a huge deal but definitely something to keep in mind. That aside, the place does have some seating although it's fairly limited. No tables either, just a counter with a few stools. Service is very friendly and there's in the midst of considering having gluten-free dough for pizzas in the near future, something that I hope they do.

We Really like the food that NY pie has to offer. They have a wide variety on the menu so we do not really get tired of the food. They have very good pizza, calzone, steak meals etc. The serving size is much better than many other sub shops and the food looks fresh. We recommend the food to everyone. Give them a try you will not be disappointed.

This place is the best. For serious. I work around the corner and get lunch here every day. Their menu is big and their subs are even bigger. And they have potato pizza!!!! What could be better?

I was fooled by the Yelp reviews. I have eaten here twice, once shortly after they opened and another last night. The first time I ate here I said it was the last time I was going to eat here. Well last night, I was browsing Yelp for ideas, and NY Pie had been highly rated so I decided to give it one more shot. Maybe it was an off night. Well, I gave it one more shot. Jalapeño poppers tasted as if they were store bought, the buffalo wings tasted slightly off like i might be i get sick just from eating them, and the pizza was like eating a plain bagel with pizza toppings, doughy but not pizza like. Nothing tasted aweful but nothing tasted good either. I'd give the place two stars but it seems like this place pays yelp to keep a good rating, so I decided to "fix" the rating to what it should be.

My first time ordering from NY Pie (lunchtime delivery order via Seamless), and I was impressed at their speed and portion size! They had 50 minutes to deliver, and they arrived in less than 30 minutes. The steak and cheese sandwich was huge and lasted me 2 meals, which means all the other food I ordered will have to be leftovers for another time. If they keep this up, I am sure that I will be ordering from NY Pie again in the near future!

To quote Charles Barkley, this place is turrible. I've had New York pizza and this pales in comparison. The crust is more like Dominos than NYC pizza. The sauce was atrocious and the cheese was sparse. Maybe upstate NY pizza but certainly not NYC. I guess if you are drunk or a college kid on a budget this place is ok but otherwise, not so much. Also had the wings. Have you ever had fried food that was cooked in grease that was maybe used 1 too many times? Yeah, that would have been a welcome improvement to the travesty of "wing" order I had. And a quick note to the Internet troll that emailed me telling me to learn how to spell after I published this review: turn off the video games and put on sports center, that is if the tv in your mom's basement has cable. Then you'll possibly understand why I spelled terrible as turrible.

I originally wasn't going to write a review for this place because I only stopped in quick for a cheese slice on my lunch hour. But I feel that it should be written. I drive by this place everyday on the way to work, but have never eaten here. Although the pizza was excellent, it wasn't what prompted this review. What made me want to write a review was the atmosphere. If there is a friendlier pizza joint out there, I'd like to see it. From the second I walked in, I got a good vibe. The people working there went out of their way to greet me, and were extremely friendly. They seemed to know everyone by name, and you can tell this place has a great relationship with the community and the people that work there. And the pizza was great! The slices are enormous (probably equal to 2 or 3 regular slices), and they have plenty of different slices available. If you work or live in the area, definitely give this place a shot.

SERVICE Their delivery is great and fast. In person, they make sure they get your order right, and they churn it out quickly. FOOD AMAZING. First of all, their portions are gargantuan in the best possible way. Their crust isn't too sweet, and it is the perfect consistency every time. The various topping combinations are great. Their subs are HUGE and DELICIOUS. But overall, I'd recommend going with their calzones. They are gigantic, generous with the filling, and just the perfect comfort food. Their salads are huge and very good. And if you get them with grilled chicken, it's tender good chicken. Their chicken dinner dishes leave a little to be desired. Definitely stick with the pizza/calzones. OVERALL Best pizza in Waltham, hands down. In fact, I'd venture to say it's some of the best I've had in Boston. And their calzones are damn good too.

Ordered a pizza from ny pie...very disappointed! The sauce on the pizza tasted like it was straight out of the ragu jar and the crust was dry and had no flavor. It almost tasted stale. Overall not good, will not be ordering from there again

this review is based on a foodler order. we are housesitting for a friend in waltham and decided to try these guys for a late lunch. we ordered around 3:30 tuesday afternoon and while the delivery wasn't scheduled to arrive until 4:15-4:30, they were here before 4. the delivery guy followed instructions to call when he arrived. the portions are HUGE. J ordered a large pepperoni pizza and this thing was enormous! as others have mentioned they use the oversize pepperoni slices. i don't know about NY pizza (no, really, even after going to NYC a handful of times i still don't know what NY pizza is) but J enjoyed it and the cold piece i had the next morning was pretty good too. (the true test, IMHO.) i ordered the bacon cheeseburger and added on grilled onions & BBQ sauce for no charge, and curly fries for $2.99. it also came with cole slaw which wasn't mentioned on the menu. now...every time i see a burger on foodler and it gives me the option to select how i want it cooked, i get excited that i might get a real, homemade burger. and it almost never happens. (a girl can dream, right?) looking at this (mammoth) burger in that telltale hockey puck shape, i knew that it was pre-cut and probably frozen, and so it was cooked to well (i asked for medium). but get this - it tasted awesome! i don't know if it was the bacon fat & extra toppings or if it just happened to fall into the "omg just what i needed to put the final nail in this hangover's coffin" category, but i was pretty pleasantly surprised. i also liked that they wrapped the burger in foil so it stayed hot and didn't slide all over. bun was nice, fresh, not smashed or soggy. curly fries were okay, nothing to write home about. tough to keep fries from steaming in a takeout box though. cole slaw was cole slaw and i enjoyed it. i also got a ceasar salad thinking i'd have it as a side, but ate the surprise cole slaw instead and saved the salad for lunch the following day. pretty standard, romaine hearts, croutons, cheese, dressing on the side, comes with a pita. huge (plenty to be it's own meal) and fresh. i'd be surprised if we didn't try these guys again before our week here is up. ETA: we did order from here again and it was just as good! i got another burger, and J got a steak and cheese. both really good. J got spicy fries, which weren't spicy but awesomely seasoned with salt and italian spices. i also got an order of jalepeno poppers. for me the one true popper is with cream cheese, and these were stuffed with that orange shiz. still nice and crisp and tasty though, & come with ranch.

LOVE! Reasonable prices, after delivery, excellent food. We live very close and this is our go-to spot for takeout. The pizza is awesome! Some of the best pizza around here. My family are very picky eaters and they thought this pizza was awesome. Salads and subs are great too, huge portions. So happy we live close to this joint!

I've never actually eaten inside (it doesn't look that big anyway), but I've gotten takeout from this place a few times now, and it's been consistently great. Their subs are HUGE and very reasonably priced (NY Pie will leave you thinking, "Subway who?"). My go-to is the eggplant parm, toasted, of course--and it is not only filling, but also delicious. What more could you ask for? (I also like to add a dash of Frank's Hot on top for an extra kick... try it, you won't regret it.) I'll definitely be back for more (subs)!

Haven't been here in a while, and I'm clearly missing them., and I need to go again. The food here is a bit pricey if you're looking at the menu. But when you get over that and buy the food...you realize that you were wrong, the price is a bargain! First time I went there, I got the honey BBQ chicken tenders. I asked for extra sauce-don't judge me! I didn't need the sauce once I seen it, they weren't too saucy, just right. I'm an athlete, so I can eat-I could only eat about 3-started to feel like I should stop eating, but I couldn't. I left a half of one for my husband to try once I got home-he too realized the goodness of NY Pie. Their sauce reminds me of a hole in the wall place back at home (GA). I want to ask if they'll be willing to put it on the menu and sell it. I'd buy a pint!! Next time we went, I got a chicken stir-fry wrap-nom nom num- and it was a nice size too! Every time i went in, I was tempted to try there huge slice of pizza. I finally caved in and got one, forgot what kind-but I won't forget that crust. So good, not crunchy-not doughy (yum, sigh). My hubby got some wings from there, which were good. And my kids got pizza-it didn't get to see much sun. Not too much of a wait. It's average time, depending on your order. They have a TV there, so you're not just sitting. No tables, just a bar and chairs along the window. They are all nice people. If you had a bad experience there, I would be shocked.

Tried a few local places around the area and only a few stand out. This is one of them. Ordered 2 pizzas here and a side of curly fries for Super Bowl Sunday this year. Hated the results of the game, but that's a rant for another time. Figured I would try this place out since it had decent reviews and was only down the street from me. I was surprised that there wasn't a long queue when I placed my order. Only a 20 minute wait on Super Bowl Sunday, but figured maybe they just need people to spread the word. Ordered "The Works," and a "Buffalo Chicken PIzza," both larges. The works had tons of meat and vegetables, all great tasting ingredients. Not too many places do it right, but one of the few where I would tell my buddies while I'm eating, "You know, this is a good pizza." Buffalo Chicken pizza tasted as expected. Still great though. They give you an option of grilled chicken or crispy, which was different. Stuck with the grilled this time, but again, a good amount of chicken, sauces were all great, and large slices. The slices were all huge. I definitely got full after having one of each, but dug in for a 3rd towards the end of the night just because it was so good. Everyone that was over only had good things to say too. Will be ordering again in the near future. Just wish there were more coupons or deals, but still worth the price of admission. On a side note, if this review seems different from the rest I have done, you're right! Normally I don't write reviews, but this one deserved one so just using my wife's yelp account.

I've been there a few times now, so time for a review. Tiger Beef. Enough said. Get it. Definitely a fan of the za as well. Their staff is very friendly and welcoming and the service is pretty quick. No complaints. I'll certainly be back many times.

I've lived in Waltham for 2 years and have been searching for a legitimate pizza place. After moving here from New York, I've been severely disappointed. But I found NY Pie through Yelp, and after reading many of its positive reviews, I decided to give it a try. I ordered a veggie pizza and eggplant parmesan for delivery through the website and it was simple and efficient. Although it approximated a 45 minute wait, the delivery man came in 30 minutes and was really friendly. The pizza smelled delicious, but when I opened the box, I was mortified. I asked for the pizza well done, since most locations here do not cook it crispy enough, and half of the pizza was soggy. Not damp, but soggy. There was an overloading of toppings (Onion, peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, broccoli, and olives) and they were all soggy and under cooked. I was especially disappointed by the broccoli, which tasted bland and canned. The eggplant parmesan was also a mess! It was soggy, bland and just not appetizing. The day after, I ended up re-heating some leftover pizza in my oven and it took away some of the moisture from the bread. Even though it ended up tasting better, the pizza that I had was an insult to New York. Since this location does have a great amount of positive reviews, I will go to the restaurant, try something different and write an update. I hope it's better next time!

I recently returned from a Trip to Chicago. And I was craving an Italain beef dip sandwich. Buddy of mine pointed me in the direction on NY PIE on Moody St. In Waltham. This place is Tiny only about 5 seats. Mostly a take out/Deliver spot. I ordered the classic italian beef double dipped in au jus. This thing was huge. The bread was incredible crunchy on the outside soft and chewy on the inside. Spicy peppers and absolutely dripping with jus. The beef was perfectly seasoned. big shaved pieces. I have to say i thought it was just as good as any italian beef I had in Chicago if not better. The places also has huge pizza slices. My friends noticed one of the pizzas had fries on them. Turns out it was a big mac pizza. Guy running the register offered us a free sample and i was completely blown away they nailed the big mac perfectly. All in all i will def be going back for my itallian beef fix.

New owners have made this an average place. Quality is ok and it seems like the friendliness is forced at times.

Since my last update my NY pie experiences have been much better. The pizza's have been good and damn they have some GOOD FRENCH FRIES. What really impresses me about these guys is how they handle large orders. I frequently order from here for my office and they always get all the individual orders of over 15 people correct. I found out this wasn't easy when many other take out places consistently get it wrong. The online ordering system is nice and easy to use. I recently screwed up and order online and was able to call and cancel the extra pizzas with no problem. Really glad to see these guys on top again.

I don't usually write reviews, but since NY Pie just opened and the stuff I've tried I absolutely love, I think they deserved some attention and hope they stick around for awhile. I live just a few blocks from them, and ecstatic that they are going to be my local delivery joint. Their hand cut fries are AWESOME. It's really hand cut and not BS, and even when they are a little soggy they are still good hours later. The pizza's all tend to have ranch dressing on them for the specials but even that tastes good. You also have to try their wings and chicken fingers. They give you three different sauces to dip in, but what makes it a winner is the batter they fry the chicken in. AWESOME! The pizza dough is made there and stretched etc... you can even see the guy doing it. The crust is pretty darn good and the size is unbeatable. It's your typical NY slice... HUGE. They also just got some new house dressing in that I tried tonight and its great. I do hope they implement some more pasta options ie... ricotta stuff (ravioli, manacotti, lasagna) and crossing my fingers for seafood! That batter on fried clams would be a seller. Don't wait, give em a try. Oh, and by the way they currently have some funky phone system going. You didn't reach the wrong number if you hear a recording, so don't hang up!

Without a doubt, this is my favorite pizza in Waltham. Better than Pini's in my opinion and without the shady business practices of Upper Crust. Their crust is a true NY crust and there are legit bubbles at the edges. The slices are gigantic and perfectly foldable. I love that the pepperoni are the large slices (not those itty bitty ones). The interior is gorgeous, but not froofy. The guys making the pizza are legit. The girls at the counter could still use some training. Registers and change seem to confuse them. They lose points for not serving slices after 5pm on Fridays, the small pizza I ordered was more crust edges than cheesy goodness and for being a tad on the pricey side. Still, that doesn't stop me from making this my go to pizza joint.

I love pizza. I love that there is never too much cheese. I love the way the tangy tomato sauce blends in with the warm, chewy crust. I love that you can utilize your imagination and create a masterpiece of savory goodness. When I say that I love NY Pie, I'm saying that this pizza is indeed drool-worthy yumminess that brings a smile to my cheese-loving heart. We ordered the meat-lovers pizza at the request of my husband and to witness the joy in his eyes when the pizza arrived is worth 5 stars alone. The pizza was a ginormous creation layered heavily with cheese and piled high with several styles of beef and pork including pepperoni, crumbled sausage, and bacon. The crust was delicious and I could eat it without the toppings and be satisfied (but why would I?). The sauce was flavorful, the savory meats blended well together, and the ratios between cheese/sauce/meat was perfect. I am so impressed with their food that I have added an additional 15 minutes to my daily work-out just to ensure I can eat their amazing pie a few times a month without risking a stroke...and it's worth the extra effort. Trust me. We've also order the Greek wrap, which was very good and large enough for two meals for myself. The apple/cranberry salad was also very good and freshly made. Ordering on-line makes it a no-brainer for those long days when I want someone to bring me food so I can just sit and stare at the wall after school. Delivery has always been quick and friendly (BONUS!), and the overall value (price for the amount of food) is excellent. Bravo for NY PIe!

Pretty decent pizza but it's more expensive than many other places in the waltham area, and while the pizza is large, it's pretty thin. The crust has a very "pre-made" quality to it, and if you've had some of the other places in town, you'll probably recognize it as the same crust, just stretched out more, or at least we did. The wings were great but a little underdone, same with the pizza. I wish they would have multiple options to get 6/12/24 etc wing orders. We've eaten there twice, and it was certainly better the second time, but for a place suggesting they're "the best pizza in town", they fall well short. Also, some sketchy stuff happening with the filtered reviews. Within a day of opening they had 15 5 star reviews...yeah no. We'd order again, but Pini's and Angelino's win out.

I wholly agreed with Jesse W's review. A few slight variations isn't a big deal although it is noticeable for fans of original Italian beef sandwiches ($9). The beef seemed lightly seasoned but still tasted fine. A big thing to me is the right consistency of the bread. The bread needs to be hard so it can soften in the au jus just right which gets you a perfectly slightly softened and moist sandwich. Having too much au jus poured on the sandwich gives it a soggy consistency. Also if you're used to having cheese on your sandwich, you'll have to specify it as an option. No mozzarella offered, just provolone and I think cheddar. The ground up giardiniera wasn't spicy at all. It was a huge sandwich so be hungry or make it into two meals. And there's plenty of beef on the sandwich so don't worry about that. I just wish they would season the beef a bit more to give a stronger taste. I also got some of their spicy fries ($3.75) which were delicious. I think they fry them to order and when they came out, they were hot. They were salty, steamy and so good. The girl at the counter was friendly. I was glad to get an italian beef at NY Pie and will go back to try out their pizza slices.

I was impressed with NY Pie. While I wouldn't say it's New York style, it's still really tasty. We got delivery and the pizza arrived very quickly and piping hot, the toppings were fresh, the crust was good, and the cheese to sauce ratio was great. It's a little pricier than some of the other pizza joints around here but the pizza is also better than many of the other pizza joints around here! Ordering online was easy, too. I don't like making phone calls, so I have a feeling I'll be using this often.

The pizza was tasty. Crust is nothing special at all. Ordered a tuna sub. The tuna salad is chock full of tuna. Not much else. Forgot the toping I asked for on the sub, yet still The fries were not cooked. We won't be returning.

The people working here are friendly and the food is good. That's my kind of place to eat! I live near Moody St and have been disappointed with the other nearby local pizza places so I'm glad to have NY Pie nearby. I've been here twice now since they opened and both times I was satisfied. The first time I had a thin crust pizza (Pepperoni, Green Pepper, Black Olives, and Sausage) and it was fantastic. The 2nd time I went with regular crust and it was good, but my personal preference is the thin crust. I had been to the place that was at this location once before and never went back, but with the renovations and good food at NY Pie, I'll definitely be back. I'm looking forward to trying food other than the pizza here.

I've eaten here four times since they have opened and every time the food has been super fresh, delicious and the service was friendly. I am happy this opened because I was starting to think there wasn't a place in Waltham that knew how to make a decent pizza. I also recommend their chicken, ziti, and broccoli calzone...yum! I have three criteria for frequenting a restaurant / take out place and they met them all: 1) Good, fresh food 2) Friendly staff 3) Cleanliness Finally a decent pizza place in Waltham.

In a town that with a million pizza and sub shops, NY Pie stands out as one of the best. I have pretty high standards when it comes to pizza, so that is saying a lot. $2.99 for a pepperoni slice, but one of their slices is the size of two at most other pizza joints. Not to mention the pepperoni is the size of a clenched fist. And what they lack in tables and chairs they make up for in quality service and food.

Terrible pizza. The crust tasted like lame grocery store freezer pizza, with that nasty texture and taste like cardboard. The toppings weren't fresh (got a pizza with some meat, peppers and onions on it, the veggies were finely chopped - again like a frozen pizza). The sides I got (mozz sticks and curly fries) were decent. But for a place that sells itself as a pizza place first, the pizza was incredibly disappointing.

I got the Cuban, it was ok but too much mayo. I didn't realize Cubans had mayo. That said, the sandwich was two feet long, no joke. So the value was great. I think the Cuban is not their best Sando... I will give them another shot in a few weeks. I have a feeling they are a pizza/calzone kind of place...

Love their pizza. It's definitely on of the best in Waltham. However, there's a very very unpleasant guy that always answers the phone. In addition, I don't like it that they call me to come downstairs to take the pizza rather than climb up the stairs and give it to me. Why do I give tips for?

Honestly, the worst pizza I've tried in Waltham. I don't know what it is about this town but no one knows how to make pizza. Don't call it NY pizza. It's a disgrace to NY pizza. We ordered the veggie pizza and asked for well done. Half of the pizza was really soggy. Like someone spilled water on the crust. It tasted completely bland and disgusting. We also ordered the chicken parmesan sub, which was a mess. Completely overstuffed with blandness. The bread didn't taste fresh and had the stale texture. The marinara sauce had no flavor at all. Overall, disgusting place. A complete waste of my money. It's no where near NY pizza.

Tasty pizza and they are Large! 18 inches. Their Subs are huge but very expensive. Easy parking for pickup next door. I called in a order this week and asked for a large steak & cheese and two slices of pepperoni. The guy in the phones says "you cant have the pepperoni slices" puzzled by that response I asked if the oven was broken. He says that they haven't any slices because they haven't made a pizza. Now this was around 2pm...ya think they may sell the extra four slices?

Overjoyed that I've recently discovered NY Pie. Do these 5-stars equal the 5 stars I've given fancy swanky gourmet restaurants downtown? No. But for it's own category of fast, quality, take out... it's top-notch. Much better than similar places in the surrounding 'burbs to Boston, and much better, fresher ingredients. Salads are generous portions and my current favorite "healthy" takeout. I have yet to try the pizza, but bravo for the choices of different pizza toppings by the slice and not just by the pie.... the smell when you walk in will sell itself. As soon as I have a cheat day from my spring-time-get-ready-for-summer-bikini-season-is-coming-miserable diet, this is top on my list.
