Waited for 15 minutes for any one to take our drink order, by that point we were ready to place our food order and the waitress said "No, ill take your food order later, the bartender can take a long time." She came back 6 minutes later with our drinks and then took our food order. Once the food came (about 20 minutes later) she dropped off the food and never came back to check on us. About 30 more minutes she came back and took my plate without asking if i wanted to bag it (I had half my food left). Worst waitress ever. O and did I mention that in the middle of her shift she felt the need to sit down in front of everyone to empty out her purse and do paperwork. Never going back

Banner /House Margrarita 3.95. Check/ House Margrarita 7.00 Waitress you said house, the special is casa. Very rude server, did her best to make me feel stupid and cheap. Too bad, i've always been fond of this place. A rude server can ruin the meal. Look close at the banner

Bought a Groupon for this place and what a disappointment... Went for lunch yet nobody was even available to make our meal! Ordered 2 margaritas spent more than an hour waiting for some sort of "chef" to actually cook..low and behold he never showed up. Twenty five fucking dollars later still no food! Sorry for the profanity but I spent 25 in Groupon and 25 for 2 drinks and an still famished!!

This was not my first visit here. But it is my first visit in quite a while. Arrived around 6:45 on a Saturday evening. The parking lot was relatively empty. That deterred me for a split second, and then I realize maybe more local people or larger groups were there. When we arrived in someone sat us, and we were in a booth like atmosphere but they were hard wooden chairs to sit on and a table of four. It smelled a little musty in the building as well, maybe they had had some damage during the last winter storm. I don't know. The waitress came and offered us water, and asked if we wanted anything like chips and salsa to which he replied yes. The salsa seemed like it was not homemade, and the chips clearly were not but were warm. In any event, we added extra hot sauce and Dug in. We actually got a second round of chips and salsa because our food was not ready after we had ordered it. We had ordered a chicken avocado soup and a cup, tacos, and a chimichanga. When the Soup arrived my mate noticed that there really wasn't any chicken in it, only a few shreds, and it was labeled as chicken avocado soup. He believed it probably would have been something more like an avocado purée, but this was like a chicken broth with zucchini a little shredded chicken in it and avocados put on top. He said it tasted OK, a little spicy, but where was the chicken? Shredded beef tacos and shredded beef chimichanga we're OK. Nothing to write home about but nothing to say complaints about either. Very routine. The rice that we had was colorful, but tasted very bland. Almost as if it was a made in a large batch, and that they don't let out until it is gone. Meaning, maybe it was made yesterday. But I don't know. The refried beans tasted like they could have come from a can. I like the weather there homemade or not, but they do Taste good. All in all I can say that there a better Mexican restaurants in the area. I have been to a few. If you'd like routine stuff that's a step above chilies, this is your place to go. It would be nice if the waitresses paid attention to the patrons a little more as well. I felt like they really were more concerned about getting things cleaned up in the dining room then making sure we had water to drink or if patrons nearby us needed something cleaned up after spill

This one hurts. I have been a faithful Oscars guy for a few years now. The food has always been good and the service has always been bad. Unfortunately they took it to new lows and I am forced to call them out on it. I was sat quickly. Then comes the problem. 20 minutes later, no hello, no chips and no anything. We decide to leave and a server Comes to the table next To us and it seems she had abandoned them for a half hour. I use the term server with a grain of salt because I have never seen the Serve a grain of salt. Oscars get your stuff together. Hire waitstaff who only work in the dining room, who care about their customers. I may or may not be back. If I come back it will be your last time to actually care I am in your establishment. If I do not come back know you lost a loyal customer because you did not care.

Stopped in for dinner Sunday Night. Walked in and waited to be seated. No one came to seat us. Waited almost 5 min still no one. Walked into the bar there was someone seating at the bar who looked like a customer and no one else. No sure what everyone that work there was doing but we left.

2 words! Steak Fajitas!!!!!!! Love these they are delicious. My wife likes the enchilada and we both really enjoy toe chips and salsa.

It was one of the worst experiences of my life. Waitress was unattentive and on her cell phone the whole time. Messed up our order TWICE and while we were sitting waiting for the check, she sees another waitress and asks if she wants to go out for a smoke. The food was hardly Mexican. Microwaved quesidilla's are easier and cheaper for me to make myself. After the experience she tells us to come back for karaoke. Not happening. Extremely disappointed. Listen to yelp!

Just finished wasting my time and money here... want to get this horrible memory outta my mind. Food was lame at the very least. Service was horrible; staff was complaining among themselves. Could hear them swear. Bathroom was filthy and broken, trash everywhere. Would never return. Never written review in yelp. But this place seriously needs to be thought more than once if you consider coming here. Time to leave this place.

First impression was sticky, like a Johnny Rockets. The food isn't authentic Mexican, and eatable at best. It us however a solid pick for a lonely burrito and cheap beer at the bar. It's the right amount of sad.

We decided to try oscar's after purchasing a groupon for half off. Walked in & was delightfully greeted by a swarm of flies. Eventually a greasy half clothed ogre spawned from the kitchen covered in grime. He looked at us, grunted, grabbed menus & threw them at a table. He then returned to his cave located in the far reaches of hell. Even before seeing lord of the flies we smelt deep fried poop seeped into the 1970's installed carpet & already knew we wouldn't be staying. ran out & returned the groupon, fully understanding why they needed to deal with groupon in the first place.

This place took such great care of us with service and I had the best margarita since I moved to the northeast. Loved it.

I gave 2 stars because they had my type of beer and they took a groupon. It's 7pm and we enter the establishment, the exterior is a dive and the interior is as well. We sit at a table, there is only one other customer there as the waitresses seem to be counting their tips. I glance over to an empty table and notice a nearly full beer and half the chips and salsa gone, but no other plates and start to develop a dread feeling. We order the appetizer platter. The poppers are decent. The salsa really has no flavor. Ordered two combos, number 3 and number 7. The waitress took the first order and then proceeded to ask me what I wanted and I asked her, don't you get to choose what kind of meat goes with the first order? After glancing at the menu, she agreed. Ok, my turn. She comes back after a couple minutes and says they don't have any tamales, so I have to adjust my order. Apparently they didn't have what the other table ordered either. The chili was small with an omelet (way too much egg) was actually gross, I replaced the tamale with a burrito and seriously had difficulty swallowing it. It was if it had been taken from the freezer and microwaved, with that over cooked soggy tortilla. Was disgusting. We asked for some more water and was handed the water improperly, hand coving the rim over the top, so if you did take a drink, you could swallow wherever her hands had previously been.

Tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt by visiting it one more time before writing a review, unfortunately it was a huge let down! The first time I ate here I had the burrito supreme which was pretty good (although overpriced) . The next time I came during my lunch break and waited 45 min before the food was ready at which point I had to get back to work and did so without eating. Figured maybe it was a fluke, however, today I went was greeted by the smell of stale cigarettes and sat 15 min and still didn't get a menu or the water the waitress was getting. I understand that there's one waitress but this kind of service is really disappointing, especially when it isn't busy. Bummer bc I enjoyed the food.

One of the worst Mexican Restaurants I've ever visited. Besides being overpriced, the food was marginal - barely eatable. The waitress was nice and enthusiastic - maybe she's one of the owners? No clue. But the pricey food was a turnoff. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves Mexican food. There are too many good places that offer better choices and food.

I really dont enjoy writing a bad review but it is my hope that the owners will pay attention or they will close. I went here because I had a restaurant.com coupon. Thanks to this restaurant I will never use that site for deals either. The place is rundown and looks downright dirty. I ordered beef fajitas. I expected beef, onions and peppers. What came out was some type of beef with goop all over it and very salty with a few thin slivers of onions and peppers. The side of guacamole was literally a smear - I know it is one of the lower margin items but come on. I wouldn't feed my dog that dish. My son had burritos and they look liked frozen things heated with a ton of beans on top that were very salty. We ate two bites and then dumped the rest. The waitress may have been the cook and bartender as well because as a lot of the other reviews stated she disappeared and was running all around when she did come to the floor. Do yourself a favor and read all the reviews even the ones that say unverified -- which means they may not have signed up fully but still ate there. If you would like a dirty place to eat with very salty unhealthy goopy food go ahead and eat there. You would be better off eating at McDonald's

This place is an okay restaurant to go to. When I got there it wasn't too busy, but the place was kind of in a sketchy location, despite it being on Main Street. The place gave us old store bought chips and my dad's glass that had beer in it was really dirty. The waitress didn't know how much the beers were either and seemed kind of clueless. I got chicken fajitas which were decent, nothing special. I am neutral on recommending this place. It isn't great, but isn't horrible. If you come to the restaurant not looking for anything special but decent food overall, this is the place to go.

Wanted to comment on this place. Went there yesterday for lunch with co-workers on Cinco De Mayo 2015. There was one car in the parking lot. That should have been my first clue. So the 5 of us walk in and go to the bar upon my recommendation. I think you get better and quicker service at a bar as opposed to a table. So we walk in and this older lady starts screaming out the back door to who we find out is the bartender. The bartender is a younger girl, yells back saying she is early after being asked by the owner. So, ok. Then we wait for several minutes before being offered a beverage. Wait several more minutes before getting menus. We had to ask. So then the same older lady starts yelling at a patron at the bar. I think this patron is got to be in her 70's at least. The owner/waitress yells saying that the patron owes her money and how dare her show up for a drink while she owes her money. I am like WTF!?!?! So we order. I look around as I always do. The bar is filthy. water rings all over the place and it is falling apart. The bartender never runs a single cloth over it. The food isn't bad but I don't see me ever going back unless the place is made over by one of those reality shows like Bar Rescue or Restaurant impossible or something like that.

Horrible no POS system. Food is alright. Bathrooms messy. Bar is disgusting. There's condensation on the bar along with dust! Disgusting like how do you run a bar? Without the health department running you down?! Like really just gross I would rather lick a rusty toilet bowl than drink beer from the tap here. Complained as well bc I never got a pen for over 20 mins! I'm sorry I'm not tipping you shit! Fix your bar and how you do customer service!!!! DIsgusting!!!'nnnn

This place is pretty darn good. I like their burritos better than other places, and my kids LOVE the fajitas. They have a special sauce on their fajitas that makes them better than most. The only thing that isn't very good is the margaritas...at least the frozen strawberry ones. The other opportunity for improvement is that the is sometimes slow, but it's not even the wait staff's fault...sometimes they just have too few waiters/waitresses. There was one time that my waitress was tending the bar and tables at the same time.

Only went here cause of the free meal with purchase in the groupon flyer , when we first walked in, the dining room was completely empty and there was two waitresses yelling at each other and very rudely sat us down . I ordered a water with lemon ,and got a tap water with one ice cube and no lemon, I politely asked for some lemon, 5 min later I got handed a cut up brown lime in a napkin and was asked "what do u want" I ordered the combo meal with a taco and a enchilada. After waiting the 30 min for our food to get to our table I wasn't handed any silverware and had to walk around the restaurant and find the waitress sitting at a table texting and got my silverware handed to me from the kitchen. And yes that's not the worst part, ..... I cut open the enchilada and found a 5in black pubic hair inside the wrap I asked for a box for the food for my dog and the bill (which she also messed up charging me 2.50 for a tap water) and I left with no intention to ever return

It may be a bit shanty..but I've got to say this place has the best Mexican food around. My favorite is the fajitas, always comes out sizzling in its delicious sauté! Also the shrimp and garlic dish is amazing. Staff is always very friendly. One of my favorite places in town!!!

This place is weird. I don't know if I'd love it....or really hate it. This is on the bar alone My friend's parents brought us here one night for what they explained as "hysterical karaoke." We went, we had some beers...in an overly cramped, dirty establishment....we had some laughs..and we left. There place is swarming with local yokals. I mean, toothless joe who lives in a van down by the river, locals. It's full of all sorts!!! Everyone in a small town has a bar like this... I know my town has a few! I think half of these people may sleep under the tables at night...but I can't be sure. Highlight of the night....a older woman of obvious standards of class, being escorted, or as I like to say..."dragged out." Because she couldn't stand AND wouldn't stop crying about her good for nothin ex in the bathroom. Ahhhhhhhhh this is how the rich live. Garson, another bottle of Dom!!

Oscar's Pinata looks like a house. It also looks like a dive and it kind of is. I mean, you can hear the karaoke singing coming from the bar. But they serve pretty good mexican food so there's that. The BF declared Oscar's the best mexican he's had in the area. He only gets fajitas but he's darned picky about them. After several visits, I will agree that what Oscar's does right, they do right. The salsa is very fresh and one of the best I've had. I have only diverged from the fish tacos once and my meal was OK (one of their combo meals) but nothing to write home about. The fish tacos come out slightly different each time but they are always tasty. I will say having had both fried and grilled that I prefer the grilled. The rice is one of the better rice's I've gotten in Mexican restaurants. It's flavorful and doesn't seem like it had been hanging around all day. Waitstaff can be a little iffy. Always super friendly but every time I have gone they seem like they're only giving half a mind to what they are doing. Pretty sure it's the kitchen's fault but often meals come out with a lag between them so one person (usually me) has to sit and watch their food cool down waiting for the second meal to come. On two visits Oscar's has run out of things. Once it was guacamole and the other time it was chips. Ummm, how does this happen? It would have been one thing had the waitress warned us of the shortage when we ordered the queso dip but she didn't tell us until she brought the dip with about 10 chips. Ummm, really? So overall, food is pretty good just don't have huge expectations about atmosphere and service and you'll be fine.

If you looking for some fancy place this is not it but if you are looking for great mexican food... then your here. I so love the fajitas. The chili is awesome too. I was sad to see to many low reviews. We have been coming here for over 10 years and never had a problem. I cant wait to get there again :)

  • Rhonda K.

If you are looking for a place that Gordon Ramsay can overall then you have come to the right place. The food hardly tasted Mexican, the beer on tap was flat and the fajitas had only 3 small slivers of peppers, the rest was large onions and the chicken look boiled not grilled! We won't be returning here.

  • TJ R.

This place sadly sucks. My wife and I wanted to like it and went several times. The waitresses charge for top shelf margaritas and serve their regular ones (it happened 3 times it is not an accident). The one star is because the bar is crowded on weekends with karaoke singers and the bartenders are OK. Not going back

I don't like to judge a book by its cover and I had heard great things from the locals about Oscar's Pinata. That being said, I truly wished the food (and service!) had lived up to the hype. To begin with, the service was ridiculously slow. This was hard to comprehend as we were 1 of 3 tables in the entire place for the lunch hour. I had to get up at one point to track down the server and ask for a drink refill. (It had been 20 minutes and she hadn't been on the floor.) As for the food: it was just OK. The enchiladas were decent and the chef was kind enough to substitute the carnitas in place of chicken for me. However, I've had better salsa out of a jar and they had run out of guacamole. It's a Mexican restaurant. Unacceptable. Additional comments: sticky tables and cold rice. Won't be a repeat customer.

I'm a karaoke fiend! I love going to Pinatas to sing and get drinks with my friends. The fact that they have karaoke night 4 days a week is my favorite thing about this place. The guys who run it do their best to make sure everyone that puts their name in sings at least twice throughout the night. The song selection is really good too. The margaritas are huge, tasty and have always been strong enough that I feel like I'm getting my money's worth. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The waitstaff is friendly and down to earth. There are some busy nights where I feel like the bar area is under-staffed. The one downfall of Oscar's Pinatas is the space in the bar area. You have to get there early if you have a party of four or more people if you want enough room because it fills up fast. If only that room was slightly bigger then I wouldn't have any complaints! Definitely visit Pinatas, it's a good time.

On the few times I have been here, I was dragged, begrudgingly, with friends. And the few times I had been here, I saw the same faces from the visits before. The bar area is super small and it gets packed quick. The floor is sticky with stale beer and my flip flop stuck to it at one point. They ran out of beer and the owner had to run to the liquor store across the street to buy more. I think the next day I broke into a rash from being in this place. Its pretty dungy and gross. Although, I will say, no bar fights broke up, which is surprising to me for such a dump.

I'm a west coaster so when I say an east coast Mexican place is ok that's a high compliment. Fr me Mexican food is comfort food--give me some chips and salsa and a chicken enchilada any day and I'm in. Their enchilada sauce is house made with great flavor and not overbearing, the sauce they cook the chicken in is quite tasty too. Their combos are huge, definitely enough for lunch the next day or in my case breakfast and lunch, They even had fresh guacamole which I have unfortunately come to realize isn't common at a lot of places around here.

  • Sven S.

None of my experiences here have been 'smooth' or without problems. The seafood dishes (and, on most nights, the salsa) are probably the 'best' reasons to come here. (Consider these 'safe' items to order.) I can't say much positive about the food, decor, or service otherwise -- they're not 'failures,' per se, merely the worst of the four or five Tex-Mex options littering the Merrimack Valley. Your time would be better spent driving up to La Carreta, westward to Ixtapa, or into town for Tu y Yo.

Stopped by for a bite to eat on a Tuesday evening during a long highway trip. From the outside, the place looked rather beat up, and the front signage for karaoke and comedy nights had me worried this was more of a bar. To our pleasant surprise, the front of the restaurant was a small, mom-and pop-style Mexican place with comfortable booths that used normal chairs separating the booths with high walls. It was a comfortable and unique. The food was pretty good, and they were very helpful with ordering. The drinks were huge and good, including some non-alcoholic drinks for the driver, like a banana ice cream smoothie. Their menu items were explained very well, which helped the member of my party who has a gluten sensitivity and can only eat corn tortillas. The waiter was attentive throughout our meal. It appeared there was a bar on site, in the back perhaps, but it didn't affect my meal, or that of several families that were eating there. The food served was not the most amazing I've eaten (thus 3 stars), but it was good and everyone I was with finished their plates. It's a nice local place for a meal you won't regret in a pleasant setting.

Home made authentic Mexican dishes. The BEST place for Mexican food North of Boston

Appetizer portions small for $8- $10. Overall food was very mediocre. We tried a number of apps, entrees and kids options. Tacos and Nachos de la casa were tasty. Chicken was disgusting and shredded beef was a 2 out of 5. Mole sauce was right on. So overall a very mixed bag. Probably better if you have had a few drinks. Not worth cheating on your favorite mexican place. Try a different Groupon and keep on trucking

After the best laid plans to grab martinis at that new bar in Lowell went astray, my girls and I decide to do exactly what we have been warned against our entire lives-walk right into that bright yellow wooden building and order a drink. "You ain't from around here are ya?" Bear in mind I've pretty such spent my entire life less than a stones throw away from good ol' Oscar's, No matter. This is place is for the locals, and no matter what my local was, is, or will be, I will never be a local. No matter. Make no mistake of it, Pinatas the bar is dark, seedy, and dirty. The ghost of Gallagher played the bass in the band. (Yes, I know Gallagher is not dead. Dude still looked like a) a ghost and b) Gallagher) No matter. Gallagher may suck, ghosts may suck, the ghost of Gallagher plays some kick ass music. Pinatas offers a ton of fun music and my old preschool classmates make great dance partners, who knew? So I'm really sad that Pinatas gets such a bad rap, and was basically the candy coated cottage in the woods I was told to avoid, because it is actually a really fun place with really cheap margaritas! Pinatas the restaurant is an entirely different story. Brightly lit and decorated with, well, the entire pinata section of Iparty, it offers some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. As a child I was also warned against Mexican food, so good thing I'm a rebel. In conclusion, ghost of Gallagher, cheap margaritas, and excellent enchiladas all within stumbling distance from my the homestead, and I never knew.. Take a chance!

My husband and I go here at least once a week if we can. My family and I have been going here for over 10 years. I have moved a distance and still will travel to Oscar's because no matter how many mexican restaurants we try, nothing compares to the quality and taste of Oscar's. It is the real thing. Everything is authentic and cooked to order. Raul makes the BEST quac dip EVER!! And the chicken chile relleno is my absolute favorite. Sue is a great waitress to have, very funny! HIGHLY recommend giving this place a try. You will not regret it.

The service was fine, although our waitress was wearing workout clothing. We were there on a Tuesday at 1 pm for lunch. There were two other families in the restaurant. The food was no more than mediocre. The ground beef and shredded beef were both grey and in some mysterious sauce. The last time we had eaten here was about a decade ago. We were very disappointed--the food quality has gone down quite a bit. I was also surprised by how their coupon worked. We had a BOGO for an entree. We had two $11.95 plates and two $6.95 plates. They only took off 6.95. :/ I'm not at all inspired to return.

I am giving Oscar's four stars because I have not found a better seafood burrito anywhere else. I also like the chicken chimichangas, and my husband likes the Mexican chicken parm. The chips and salsa are great, and I also enjoy the refried beans and rice. There's not much to say about the decor or atmosphere, but that means nothing to me if the food is good.

I went to Oscar's Pinata tonight for dinner simply because I was in the mood for Mexican and it was the closest one to my hotel. The restaurant looks more like a house from the outside and is decorated like a typical Mexican restaurant inside. I was eating alone so I went to the bar, so I'd atleast have the bartender to talk to. I got an order of Nachos to start and a Burrito for my entree. I can't say they were the best I've ever had, but they both were good and the portions were large. On top of that the bartender was friendly and the price was very reasonable. Good food, good portions, good prices and a good staff sounds like 4-stars to me.

The drinks were strong and tasty. However the food was horrible. Worst Mexican I've ever had. The enchilada tasted like cardboard and reminded me of something you would find at a 7/11.

Yet another update. It appears the bad service that I complained about a few moths back has been attended to, so I removed my bad review. I can't say for sure that they've gotten rid of all of the bad wait staff, but the service on our last trip there was very good - the way it used to be. And the food and prices are still excellent.

So my girlfriend and I strolled up here on a weeknight because we found it in our Entertainment Book. Now, the point of the E-book is to get you to try NEW places and hopefully become a repeat customer due to them losing a menu sale for the coupon. Well, I have to painfully admit that we won't be back to Oscar's anytime soon. First off, we walked into the dining area and it was super quiet, only one other couple was dining with us. That's fine, but it's not ok to have the bartendress look you in the eye THREE times while walking towards the kitchen and be completely ignored. A nice, "someone will be right with you" would have been suffice, but we got absolutely no feedback. I wish I was exaggerating when I say it took us 15 minutes to be noticed by anyone but her. We were 30 seconds from leaving when a waitress magically appeared to seat us. Strike one. We were sat but it felt like at least another 10 minutes before our drink order was taken by this same waitress. Granted, there were only about five people in the bar and as mentioned before, we were one of only two couples in the dining room so it's not like she was busy with other things. Strike two. The last straw was when our food took over 20 minutes to arrive. I said to my g/f, "this is ridiculous, why is our food taking so long??" to see our waitress rise out of the booth RIGHT BEHIND ME where she was working on the books after I said that and she goes and grabs our food. Granted, I was a tad embarassed by this happening but a waitress should never have to be reminded to do so! Strike three. The food was meh and nothing overwhelming. The tortilla soup for an appetizer was decent and at least not cold for how long it took to be served. My g/f had a chimichanga and I had a chicken enchilada, both were very large portions and tasty. In fact, the food was good enough where I would go back again but not with the way we were treated overall. This is a locals joint for blanco Mexican lovers, beware of the horrible service but once you can get by that, the food isn't half bad.

This place looks like a dive from the outside, but the food is awesome. We have been coming here for well over 10 years and we have never had a bad meal. The food is very authentic, not like you would get at a chain restaurant like On the Border. We have ordered almost everything from the menu, but I always go back to the basics like tacos, tostada, burritos and enchiladas. You can't beat real authentic food like that. Whenever you go, Oscar is always working. Sometimes he is out front waiting on tables, other times he is in back cooking. The other good news is they have just increased the number of draft beers they have to 12, even though I still always have the Dos Equis on draft.

This is a nice restaurant with some good food. The drinks are priced very well and made just as good. I'm always up for enchiladas and these were great as well. My wife had some seafood taco's which she thought were well worth it. We will gladly frequent this restaurant. One other time we came here was on a night with a live band. We were going out with a few friends to have some drinks so we decided to go here. The live band was extremely loud. It was overwhelmingly loud, and made us leave due to how we couldn't even socialize. So I will likely avoid the bar area if they have a band playing.

My husband and I went on a Saturday right when they opened at noon. We had a Groupon for an app and 2 entrees so we decided to give the place a try since we love Mexican. We both ordered margaritas - i had a frozen raspberry and he had a on the rocks regular. They were both flavorless and watered down. I could taste the tequila but zero raspberry flavor. We ordered the queso which tasted mostly like velveeta and both got combo platters. The meat wasn't very seasoned, we had to rely on the sauce for any flavor and while it was filling, it just wasn't very tasty. The waitress was nice...when we saw her, which was not often. A meal which should have taken like a half an hour took like an hour and a half. Our queso (hello you just melt cheese) took like ten minutes to come out once we finally got our orders in and when we finished our meals, it was about 20-30 minutes before she came to ask us if we wanted dessert. Nope just the check, thanks. Granted, she was the only waitress there but I could hear over the booth that she visited the table over there like five times while we waited for her to realize we needed our check. Overall, I'll pass on a second visit, I'd rather go to a chain for my Mexican food.

Don't worry you will not get mugged by any banditos. Love the burritos and carne asada. The wife always orders arroz con pollo. Annoyingly, they consistently forget my sour cream and guacamole with me take-out orders.

We were planning to check out the new El Pollo Loco, a California chain which just opened its first New England location and was recently reviewed in the Boston Globe. We missed the entrance to the shopping center and discovered Oscar's Pinatas just a few hundred yards down the road on the opposite side of the street. From the outside, the place looked so bad that it just had to be good -- and it is. The interior is like your basic roadhouse dive. It is 100% American folk architecture: refreshing in the strong visual statement that no interior designer has been allowed to touch the place. The food is good. Not pretentious but with some nice touches which indicate care in selecting and preparing the recipes. The "Nachos de la casa" are generous with pieces of steak dotting the tops of the tostaditas. I had the chile verde which is an interesting interpretation served on a platter with copious amounts of rice and beans next to it. The texture was much thicker than the usual stew-like consistency of chile verde served in a bowl. The flavor was good with very generous amounts of pork. But, as one learns to expect in New England, it was timidly mild and cried out for augmentation using the bottles of green and red El Yucateco hot sauce on the table. The margaritas were good sized, served in a heavy stemmed goblet. I just had their basic margarita, on the rocks as requested. They tasted like they contained some real lime juice -- a nice change from the usual commercial corn-syrup bar mix which many places use. There also are about a dozen specialty margaritas listed on the menu and a good selection of tequilas. The only problem is that the servings were so large that I ate way too much and felt stuffed all afternoon. Next time I won't be such a glutton and will take some of the food home. On the way out, I noticed that the place has kids' menus consisting of hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos and other such fare. To encourage family dining, kids eat at 1/2 price Mon-Wed from 4PM to 8PM.

One of the diviest dive bars in the Greater Tewksbury/Lowell/Billerica Area! That being said, I do enjoy the occasional trip here. I would never take a first or even second date here, but I will gladly meet my friends up for a drink and quick bite to eat or maybe for Karaoke night (even though you will never find me singing it. They have very tasty "Ultimate" Margaritas, $2.00 PBR draughts and numerous Karaoke nights. As for the food, well I think out of most Mexican joints, considering (I think) the food is made by Mexican cooks, the food is like a mid-range Mexican. It's not horrible, it's not great. The price is mediocre. Come to think of it, I really don't like this place much; so my enjoyment of the occasional trip is really just to see the friends that frequent here so often.

I've been a repeat customer, so the food is decent. And except for one incident, the service has been very good. If you're in the area, it's worth a stop.

Last night on a friend's recommendation, my wife, my son and I tried this place. I should have known I was screwed when the 50 year old lady I saw outside sucking on a Marlboro, who looked like she rode a Harley to work, approached my table with her pad and pen ready. Naturally because we're in a Mexican restaurant we're gonna order margaritas, right? I ask Easy Rider what brands of tequilas this fine establishment offers and she says " we have some, no-name brand for our house margaritas, and then we have Cuervo, Patron, and 1800. Do you want me to ask what else we have?" Now, Dan is thinking that this lady is gonna have contact with my food atH some point, so I forgo the "no Flo, I don't. You say you've been here for 13 years, I want you to KNOW what tequila you have!!! And by the way, 1800 IS MADE BY CUERVO!!" that comes to mind, and let herknow that Patron will suffice. 9 minutes later she arrives at my table with an adult sized glass of water for my son...ya..kid's menu, but they don't have kid's cups....and two, bird bath-sized margaritas for wifey and me. 3lbs. ice, 67oz. of sour mix and 1/2 tablespoon of tequila....POOF!! Oscar's "famous" margarita....all for the low low price of only 12 bucks apiece. While perusing the menu I'm trying to decide between chicken fajitas and Mexican chicken parmesan (yup, really!!) I go with the fajitas. Bad idea. What comes to the table is a skillet with what just might be poached chicken, peppers and onions, all swimming in a sauce that may or may not have been made with stewed tomatoes, accompanied by a teaspoon of the usual fajita condiments. We also ordered "made to order, by hand" chili con queso. HAHAHAHA. Melted cheese with 4-5 pieces of diced tomatoes....made by hand. I'm sure it was....along with the other 3 gallons of melted cheese dip the prep cook threw on the steamtable. About 15 or so minutes after the food comes, "Flo" breezes by the table faster than she would if she was on roller-skates wondering if everything is good. Thanks for the concern, was it time for another smoke?? I asked for the check and the waitress of 13+ years ignored the fact that 89% of our food went uneaten. Even the handmade cheese dip. I would just as soon eat my own left arm before going back there. Anne Frank wouldn't eat at Oscar's Pinata. I should have known a Mexican restaurant with potato skins and mozzarella sticks on the menu would not be my new favorite place. DAMN

Okay from the outside this place looks like a dive that you would not want to go in... But trust me forget the OTB's and Chili's. This place is awesome. The food is 100% excelent and the portions are huge. Never mind that the most expensive dish is $13.00 oh yeah and that contains shrimp and lobster... Yes Lobster... and not just claw meat. we're talking tails here. Save room for desert. The Cheesecake Enchlada's OMG they are to die for.. Corona's are cheap here as well and the free chips and salsa is better than most that I've tried.. Huge Menu too it will take you forever to decide... 5 Friggin Stars

This place is clearly not one of the classiest joints around, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great place to go. At first glance Oscars is worn down, dark, and set up in a weird way, but once you get past that you'll see that the food is good and great times can be had in the bar area. I can't speak for all of the food because I've only had the tacos, the chips and salsa, and the fried ice cream, but all of those were very good. I especially like how they offer ground beef. Other Mexican restaurants have shredded only. Man do I hate shredded (although Oscars also has shredded if that's your thing). The salsa is really good (not too hot at all) and the fried ice cream is awesome. The service is decent. Nothing to write home about but nothing to complain about either. Where this place shines is the bar area on a karaoke night. I've only been there on a karaoke night (Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays) so I can't vouch for the other nights, but man the karaoke nights are good. I've been to other karaoke bars and they just lack the atmosphere that Oscars has. The whole place really gets behind you when you get up there. It's great watching everyone sing along to the hits once the drinks kick in too. There are a lot of regulars who do a great job singing but they all accept newbies with open arms. My friends and I have had some of our most memorable nights in there singing our asses off. The drinks aren't too expensive either. Average prices and cheap drafts and margaritas. Overall I would say go for fun on a karaoke night and if you're hungry go early for a quick bite, that's what we do. This place gets a much worse rep than it deserves and Oscar is a really good guy. He always thanks us for coming out. Go check it out and sing until you lose your voice.

I am always up for Mexican, and considering my coworkers went for cheap Chinese today it was the perfect opportunity for me to tell them what a great place they missed. Well that plan backfired on me. I will start off with the somewhat good food. I ordered the steak burrito, California style, which I guess to them means without sauce on top. Traditionally the "California Burrito" is rumored to have started in San Diego where they started to add fries to a Carne Asada burrito. The steak was seasoned well, there was a lot of it, and it seemed as though it was finished on a flat top grill because it had a nice char to it. It was served with refried beans and rice which were pretty standard. The drinks were strong and big like others have mentioned, but the problem is they only have cuervo tequila and triple sec. If you don't mind well liquor they are tasty. The service was extremely slow and considering I was the only person in the bar and there were only two tables I thought that the server did a pretty disappointing job. She never cleared my dirty plate, and was generally never around. The interior is very dirty and the bar stunk like a fraternity basement. If you are looking for good Mexican there are other places in the area that are better. Try Casa Blanca instead.

Very good, sloppy, Mexican food. The place is a bit of a dive, but you already knew that that's where you find the best Mexican food, right? The service is attentive enough, nothing outstanding. I would have to say the best part is the coupons they send out. Buy-one-get-one-free for this place just can't be beat. Too bad it's so far away from where we live, now. We still make the trip once in a long while, though.

I love this place. My coworkers and I hit up this place for lunch a minimum of once a week and sit in the bar arae (so I cannot speak tpo the restaurant part). The food is really quality for a good price and the Margaritas are strong and tasty. I will say I was wary at first because the appearance from the outside leaves a lot to be desired but the food, drinks and some of the most friendly bartenders make this place a must go to. The bar room is the place to sit (the door to it is on the side) and if you go at lunch and it is locked, just give a knock, they did forget to unlock it once (of course they gave us a free app on the house as an apology so how can you complain). I guarentee that once you try it you will want to rate it high as well!

Okay Mexican bar and grille. Looks like a dive on the outside, but is a little better once you get inside. Feels a lot like a towny restaurant, but it's okay if you are craving Mexican and can't drive up to Nashua to La Carreta, which is a thousand times better. Food and prices are basically okay here, but nothing special.

hey, it's a so called mexican restaurant, where they decided to slap together some stale old drywall. The place smells like a bad chinese restaurant, yikes, and coupled with an extra annoying parking situation meant to confound anyone, it's a good one to skip altogether

Good stuff very large menu. With non Mexican options if you got that one in the group. Reasonable prices and my friend was very satisfied with the shrimp that was used (good sea food product is always nice sign to me). if you are looking to spend mid range prices and are hungry go for one the combo platters well worth it and the 3 dollar house Margaritas were great. My only small complaints were that the Margarita was short on salt but that is a very personal taste and the shredded cheese was a bit light but they where very kind at to provide a bit more on request with no malice what so ever. Great place for a late lunch early dinner. Did I mention the 3 dollar house Margarita's

I've only been in the restaurant half of this place...and have never ventured into the bar. From the looks of the people heading into the bar (I know it's Tewksbury but sweatpants on a Friday night - really?), it looks....interesting...... The drinks are large and strong which in my book equals very good. The food is good as well. I've sampled the fajitas, tacos, mexi chicken parm, and all are tasty. My husband loves the seafood burrito, can't stop talking about it, every time he has it. The quality of the service is iffy. We usually pray for the "good waitress" before going in. There is one young waitress who is terrific and attentive and there is another who will take your drink order and then not come back until 20 minutes later (with no drinks) to take your dinner order. Overall it's good cheap eats and drinks.

My husband and I went here for lunch. It looks a little like a dive on the outside, but we decided to try it anyway. When we went in, the place was EMPTY, so there was no reason service should be slow, but it was. Also, the kitchen was LOUD, we could hear every word people were saying in the back. First we got served chips and homeade salsa. The salsa was good. BUT, you only get one free bowl of chips before they start charging. I tried to order tamales, but apparently they were out, and not sure when they would get more in. I ordered the California Style tacos with chicken. It is supposed to come with a wheat tortilla. I even reminded the waitress of this. However, it still came with a corn tortilla. It came with beans and rice, but these were so salty I couldn't eat them. The chicken was dry in the tacos. I would have sent them back, but it had taken so long to even get the food, we didn't have time to wait. Our waitress never checked on us, and we never got our water refilled (a pet peeve of mine). We couldn't even find our waitress, so my husband poured part of his water in my glass. We got overcharged by a dollar (not much, but annoying after such bad service). Poor service, a LONG time to get food to table, bad quality food, and overcharged. We will never go again.

The only place within 100 miles that can make great cheese enchiladas (I'm from San Diego, I know Mexican food); and yes, cheese enchiladas are harder to make than many things because you don't have anything to hide bad ingredients and poor cooking with. The waitress i have been getting lately, however, leaves much to be desired.

First of all the only thing mexican abt this place is the name. Probably all the people who liked the food here have never tasted real mexican food. Salsa tastes like a can of diced tomatoes so does the sauce. Ordered two dishes for take out and guess what they forgot one altogether. Given an option between this restaurant and walmarts frozen aisle of mexican food, I will go for frozen mexican food. The only reason this places run is because it has a bar. they should list this place as a bar instead of a mexican restaurant.

Where to begin...guess I'll start with our seating. I felt that I was in a cubicle or was maybe put in time out where we were sitting. There are 3 tall walls surrounding your table so you can't look around and see anything, which makes you feel that that is the REASON your waitress hasn't come back in a real long time. That, my yelpers, was another problem. "Where did our waitress go?" was probably the question most asked while waiting for our food. Our table came OFF the wall trying to make more room for ourselves and clearly it wasn't supposed too lol. The food was OK, I feel that it would have been better if the other things were not so blah. I heard a waitress over at the tables next to us, ask the customers if they can take care of their check so she can cash out. Really? That was probably the red flag that broke it for me. You want a dive bar with eh food, go there. If not, keep driving.

This review might be a little biased considering I am a regular here... IF YOU WANT BETTER SERVICE, GO TO THE BAR!! I'm not sure why this place has their restaurant section of the place when everyone normally goes straight to the bar. There's a lot of regulars, like myself. The crowd is very interesting; a lot of older people, a lot of people in their harley davidson gear, and the other people who came to sing Karaoke. Most of the people won't bother you; they are actually pretty friendly. The drinks there are always STRONG! But make sure when you ask for a Margarita, do not ask for "house" because they do not use Cuervo for house. However, a cuervo margarita is about 7 bucks. Not bad. Keep in mind this is not a place to get pampered. It's more of a hang out spot with good drinks and good food. The food is very good; I recommend the Chicken Burrito or the Steak Tips. Oscar is always friendly and takes care of his customers.

The last couple of times I've eaten here the service has been sub-par. Long waits with half of the tables empty makes no sense, and having to track down the server to ASK for water refills is a pet peeve of mine. Bad word of mouth will kill any business. The food remains very good for the price and the drinks are large and strong.

It looks like I'm the odd man (woman) out here. I don't think this is very good. It is Tex-Mex and bland. If quantity is what you want, you'll get it. I just don't think the quality is very good. Pretty typical tex-mex suburban food.

I had the misfortune to work out in Tewksbury for a year back in 2003, and at the time at least, this was pretty much the only good food in town. Really first rate Mexican food, sort of reminiscent of New Mexican (except, sadly, without the green chili sauce). Be prepared for ginormous portions though. The dinners could feed a small village, and the large Margaritas come in a glass almost as big as your head. After eating here, you'll soon realize why the native Tewksburgians are shaped like that....

First off, it's really dark inside. The lighting is this dim, dingy basement glow, and it doesn't cast well on a place that already looks pretty dirty. The pinatas they have up are kind of creepy. Oh you get to listen to soft Mexican music on the stereo along with the cover band playing next door. Now that's some kind of ambiance! As if that weren't enough, they had no chips and salsa. No chips and salsa? What?! The menu promises it! The very fact that it's a Mexican place promises it! But no. We're seated by the back exit where it was freeeeeezing, and then our waiter comes over and explains in a very thick accent that they have no chips and salsa because they're "very busy." He even rolled his eyes back for effect. Huh? What? Does that mean you can't order nachos? No you can still get the nachos...they're just really busy...and can't put chips in a basket and salsa in a bowl...yeah...anyway... Being a very hungry person, I was not pleased to hear this news. I was expecting immediate sustenance! So, Jalapeno poppers it was. And for deep fried little morsels, they were good, but the plating was totally half assed. Just a pathetic looking pile of wilted, shredded iceberg in the corner. The good thing is you get really big, really strong margaritas....that is if you're willing to shell out $10 a drink. Our empty maragarita glasses stayed that way even after the waiter served us our entrees and saw them. We had to flag him down to get our next round, which I hate doing. Luckily the food is affordable, the menu is diverse and it wasn't half bad. I got the chicken flautas and I really liked that they used a mix of dark and white meat, but I've had a better meal in a cleaner, brighter place that actually takes the time to get those chips and salsa over to my table.

This has become our new go to place for Mexican food! We are always able to get a table and the food is always great! I usually get fajitas or the beef tacos and both are fabulous. The queso with meat is also awesome!

I have only actually eaten here once and the food was decent. I did have nachos a couple weeks ago and they were quite tasty. Even better with a cold beer. A friend of mine has a karaoki/dj gig here a couple times a week, so on occasion I'll show up with some friends. The drinks are good. Strong and cheap. This is DEFINITELY not a high class place by any means. The bar pretty much consists of "regulars" who come in for drinks. There are some sketchy biker types, but they are harmless.

I really enjoy the food from Oscar's, but the atmosphere detracts from the experience, sometimes in a bigger way than others. When we first went to Oscar's the first few times, the food really impressed us. Lately, we had some iffy service with things taking a really long time, forgotten or mixed up orders, etc, but that hasn't been too bad. If you go in expecting a not-so-hot atmosphere but yummy food, you won't be disappointed at all. There's a bar in the back which gets a little loud sometimes, and while the food is good, I wouldn't say it's the best I've ever had. The rice has a reheated consistency much of the time, and the wait staff is really hit or miss. We did try the cheesecake chimichanga one time and it was delicious! So it may be worth going to just to give that a try.

I went to Oscars for the first, and last time this past weekend. I have always tried to live by "if you don't have anything good to day, don't say anything at all". But with Oscars, I have to make an exception to that rule. This was by far one of the worst restaurant's I have ever been to. The first thing that grabs your attention is the biker crowd hanging around the back door. Then you walk into the front door and the next thing that gets your attention is just how filthy the place is. If you are going to have carpet in a restaurant, it has to be cleaned once, twice a week and vacuumed daily. The carpet was absolutely black with grease/food/beverage stains. Sitting down at the table you notice that no matter what surface you touch, the table, your chair, the condiments, they all have a greasy dirty felling about them. I worked in many the restaurant and one thing I learned is if a restaurant's front-end isn't clean, you certainly don't want to see what is going on in the kitchen. On to the service. The hostess was nice. Ok, so I had one good thing to say about the visit. Our waitress... Well let me just say if you hate your job that much, quit. We had just sat down, hadn't even opened the menu and she walks up and asks us what we want. We told her we needed another minute and ordered drinks. She came back with the drinks right away, we still hadn't decided what we wanted, she sighed and left with a frown on her face. She didn't come back for a half hour. Meanwhile, all of the other tables waitstaff appeared very friendly, coming back to check on their tables. As for the food, it was mediocre. It came to the table not very warm and was rather bland for Mexican. The chicken in my burrito had the consistency of a joke rubber chicken. None of the food, including the stale tortilla chips seemed fresh. The noise from the bar, and we were there early in the day was very loud. Then they turn up the crappy speakers in the dining room to try to drown it out. You could also smell the cigarette smoke coming in through the open back door drifting into the dining room. I for one would never go back there or tell anyone of the place. Except maybe Chef Ramsey!

I should start this by saying I am easy to please. When I go out for a meal that cost under $35 (with margaritas) I don't expect a lot. That being said, the service can be kind of slow but when you only need one margarita (because they are the size of your head) who cares. And they are strong and good. I always get the same thing so I have a hard time judging the food overall. The stuffed chicken is easily my most favorite meal from any restaurant. Their chips and salsa is also great.

Have gone there many times. Owner often cooks. It is my second favorite Mexican restuarant. The service is good as is the food. It is comfortable and it should be a place to go. I read Dann's review and I simply do not agree. Maybe it was an off day or maybe it is a fiction.

Loveeee this place. I can't give it 5 stars, only because it's a little dirty and the pinatas that decorate the place look like they're from 1973. But if I could, I would give the food 300 stars. The dishes are huge and very reasonably priced. I'm a big fan of their combination plates because I am horribly indecisive and want one of everything when I'm here. The enchiladas are sooo good and wayy filling. The chiles rellenos are some of the best I've had. Also, def. get a big margarita when you're here...it will make your experience so much better! They always have coupons in those little coupon packs and they also have one on their website. If you want authentic Mexican food in large quantities and don't mind that it's not fine dining, definitely go to Oscar's. You'll leave extremely satisfied!

We are Mexican Food junkies. This place looks like a real dive from the outside, but we heard about it from a friend and we decided to give it a try. I had the chicken Chimichanga - it was good. Prepared different then I am used to but it was hot, tasty and the service was prompt and nice. Hubby had the taco salad with shredded beef - he didn't care for it too much. He liked mine much better.

I can't believe I'm only giving this place 2 stars. It's not for the food. The food is delicious and really well priced. But the service is beyond horrible. It is so slow. This used to be a favorite of mine - and I'd eat here frequently. But I just don't have the time to wait for really bad service from people who obviously don't like their jobs. If you don't mind waiting and bad service - the food is great and the drinks are large.

Awesome Mexican food!!! My favorite is the Chicken Chile Rellenos... Chicken stuffed Poblano chile pepper with a milf spicy sauce over it served with rice and beans. The chips and salsa served before the meal can be addictive!

I'm not sure that we'll ever go back to this place! The food was OK. My partner got the Chimichanga and really liked it. I had the Enchiladas al Carbon and they were just ok. But the food was not the problem...the service, if that is what you want to call it, was AWFUL. We went around 3:30 and were the only people in the place, so you think the service would be attentive. Not. First, she seated us at a table, and we moved to another one near the window. She complained, in a half-kidding way, that we were going to make her work because she had to walk to our table which was further from the kitchen. She had a terrible attitude, was nearly rude, and completely unattentive. The cooks in the kitchen rang the "ready" bell three times to get her attention to serve our food. After that, she never came back to see if everything was alright or to refill our drinks. We ordered a Corona Light, which either they were out of or don't have, so we got a regular one and it came with a lime that was strangely dried out. We just moved to the area from Boston and were excited to find a Mexican restaurant so close. The coupon in the Val-Pak that someone else mentioned was a good deal, we saved $6. I would recommend Taco Bell over this place.

I had to check out this place after reading the two reviews by other Yelper's. A+ for authenticity and a diverse menu. Was not to impressed with the service but our meals were great. I had a combo plate with 1 enchilada and renaldo(sp) which has a pablano pepper stuffed with chicken and cheese YUM. It came with rice and pinto beans. I also had a kick ass margarita. The 2 of us ate for $30. Not bad considering. The bar section looked kinda scary. Oh also they had a Mexican guy playing live guitar and singing up and down the rows of tables. Nice but loud. 11-9-06 UPDATE: Went back for takeout and hada terrible experience. Hostess had me go to a dark room in the back off the kitchen to take my order. I could not read the menu as it was so dark. I had to step into the bathroom to see it. Speaking of the bathroom, how in the world can anybody in a wheelchair reach the paper towels? It is like 5 ft off the floor, above the sink. OK so she told me my takeout wold be like 15 minutes, to go into the bar and wait. The BAR is SCARY!! Yikes!! Loud awful music , its dark, with some scary looking characters lurking about. As soon as I order a drink, out comes my takeout (4 minutes) now I have to stay and be tortured. In the end....my chicken enchiladas was virtually tasteless.

Please don't waste your time and go here. If you already do and like it, then good for you, please continue to go. I had 2 really lousy bland meals here, so I'm all set.

this is a classic. my friends and i came here all the time in high school because it was cheap, good, fun, and close by. the encheladas al carbon or con mole are my two favorite things to get. there's always food left over as much as you try and finish because it's so damn good! service is fast, and never bad. the prices are great! they often have coupons in newspapers and local publications so you can keep going there and never have to pay full price. i hear the bar is fun. i've never been but my mom and her friends have. my only gripe is that i wish the fried icecream was actually fried. aside from that, nothing! oscar's my boy!

I agree with most of the other reviewers - the food at Oscar's is pretty good but the service isn't quite there. The portions are large and the food's served very hot. I had the flauta which was very good. I've had better guacamole, though, and my boyfriend didn't really enjoy his carne asada much. The margarita I had was one of my favorites. I'd go back for some no-frills cheap eats with friends.

The best around Yes, the curb appeal is lacking and the ambiance could use a boost. Something about Mexican food in a classy, stuffy joint is unappealing to me anyways. At Pinatas, not only is the food the best around, the margheritas are the best too. The bar is still a townie bar but the restaurant side has come a LONG way. It has been totally redecorated and is decent. I've gone with my kids on a Tuesday at 5pm and the sevice was understaffed and pretty slow. But we aren't in a hurry and it didn't bother us at all. However, my suggestion is to be patient if you go there at slow times during the day. If you go there after 6pm or so, especially on the weekends when they are fully staffed, you will get good service. Try the Mexican Chicken Parm or Oscars specials. I think Oscars Pinatas is the best Mexican around and one of the top overall. It is still under the radar but gettng busier. If you haven't been there you are in for a treat.

If you know and love authentic Mexican food, you will not find it here. The food is bland and ordinary but they do give you good size portions. Starting with the chips and salsa- the salsa looked and tasted like ketchup or chili sauce- Its not even as good as Picante Salsa or Paul Newmans. My wife and I split the house Margarita. It comes in a big goblet (like Jim Dandy's at Friendly's) but it tasted watered down. We skipped appetizers and went right to entrees. I had beef enchiladas with mole sauce. It was filled with shredded beef although the beef was stringy and chewy. The mole sauce was bitter. The rice and beans had little flavor. My wife got the combo chicken enchiladas and chile rellenos. She said it was hard to distinguish the enchiladas from the rellenos. It was all buried in sauce and mushy. Typically, a rellenos is batter dipped and fried so it has a nice crust. This didn't. It was filled with lots of shredded chicken but overall bland. My son got a chicken fajita that came in an impressive sizzling skillet. He enjoyed it. I'm never one to judge the book by its cover but just to let you know the building looks worn and the dining room is attached to a creepy looking lounge. As you walk out, the door has a hand-written sign on it saying basically that if your are drunk, then call this taxi. I've never seen that in a restuarant before but probably a good idea given the appearance of the lounge. The service was very good. The waitress was attentive and they brought our meal quickly. Overall, an average experience. If you live in the Merrimack Valley, and want really good Mexican food, then check out Aztecas in Lawrence. Make your own comparison.

Being from La., I am always in search of good Tex-Mex food. I tried this place recently because of the reviews on Yelp. We were there early before the crowd. The only complaint I had was dirty menus. That is "Server 101" training. No one wants to see food on their menu from who knows when. And this was the first table of the day. Now the good, I had the enchiladas, one beef and one chicken. It was excellent, beef tender and the sauce was a chili cheese which is what I am always looking for. My husband had his famous seafood burrito. Said it was the best one yet. Margaritas were big but not my favorite in flavor. Very satisfied! No room for dessert, oh, well, next time!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
