here's the deal about Dimo's that I think alot of people have overlooked; It is the perfect place to go for a family-esque type quiet dinner. I have went there on numerous occasions and it feels like you are at an Aunts house enjoying dinner. Its just a very different type of place, family run. the food quality is decent, there are some gems but the whole experience is relaxing. Beer and wine prices are below average and the food quality is within the realms of chilis, applebees. I'm a sous chef and I enjoy it as a change of pace. The elderly waitress does take some time to get food to you so don't go if in a rush.

My kid and I were driving through Sunderland recently and were hungry. I should've checked Yelp before going in. It's odd to see a restaurant that doesn't accept credit cards but I had cash so we went in anyway. The menu wasn't very inspiring. Neither was the decor. I kept expecting Robert Irvine to walk in. The plastic flowers were dusty. Cobwebs were everywhere. One booth had piles of stuff in it. A sign about a new law taking effect in 2004 was still on the wall. The table was too high for the booth. The ceiling had water stains everywhere, not to mention the parts of it that were peeling, had swaths of tape, and seemed to be about ready to cave in. The meat was overcooked and made leather look juicy by comparison. We were one of two parties in the restaurant and yet the order (burgers) took a very long time. When I went to the other side of the restaurant to pay the waitress I thought my foot was about to fall through the floor, add there was a soft spot in the ramp conceding the rooms. The Sunderland building inspector needs to pay this place a visit. I certainly won't be back.

No, no, no - everyone else is missing the point. You don't go to Dimo's for a gourmet dinner. You go to Dimo's because it's retro paradise! Vinyl seats, faux marble tabletops, dark paneling, plastic flowers, "American Pie" on the soundtrack. Right out of my childhood. And the food has actually gotten better over the years. The fried chicken is mouth-watering - piping hot and just greasy enough to be a little decadent. The spaghetti sauce is thick, homemade, not too sweet. The lasagna is darn good. In short, when you're in the mood to relive the past, Dimo's is the perfect destination.

"We have good water here," the waitress told us. But, that's all they have that's good there. Bad food (Italian, and terrible), ugly interior (bar meets cracked seats on the booths, and ugly old wood at the tables), and high prices. Even the bread was bad. They only take cash. Ugh.

Okay, first of all, this is about something that happened a while back, so consider this review accordingly. My wife and I sat down and ordered are food. While we were waiting, we watched a family of ants, march across the wall...like they had done it a thousand times. The food took longer than it should and it didn't taste that good. I've had better pizza in several other places not too far from there.

I can't believe someone actually gave this place 2 stars. This place is creepy. I ate there once just to see what it was like. This was a few years ago. Now I shudder every time I drive by the place. From the other two reviews it hasn't changed. Don't be even tempted to go in.
