Nothing great. I've had pizza by the slice, subs, specialty pizzas, and appetizers here. I live essentially across the street, so mainly out of convenience. The pizza is fairly bland and I felt the same about the subs. The appetizer I had reminded me of a frozen TGI Fridays type of thing. There is seating inside, but it's not very inviting - I wouldn't choose to stay and eat in house. Pricing is alright. Fair, but I think it should be lower based on the taste. If you're looking for a good sandwich, head to Dave's right down the street. Looking for good pizza, try flatbreads instead - or even dominos... Dominos is superior in taste and quality to this place.

This place is your standard pizza-sub-pita sandwich joint but it is not a dive. They take care in what they serve. The pizza is fantastic. I am amazed that anyone who ate the pizza gave this place anything but a top rating. Angelina's crust is hand-tossed and it is always perfect. There is no better crust in Massachusetts. Perfect amount of sauce, perfect amount of cheese and the sauce and cheese are fresh. Salads used to be very fresh and crisp--I've had a few so so ones lately but nothing gross or wilted. The chicken is also always good. They keep the place nice and clean. The people behind the counter are friendly and great.

had a craving for a meatball sub today. Went to Angelina's. Large with extra sauce and grated cheese. It hit the spot. Large amount of meatballs and plenty of sauce. I would get it again.

The "Jumbo" subs are just 4 subs in one, and are awesome. They are packed full and taste delicious. The chicken salad is mediocre, but the italian and meatball subs make up for it. Also their specialty pizzas are delicious and have tons of toppings.

Get the cheeseburger jumbo with lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions and ketchup. That's all you need to know. Will feed 3-4 people. I've been getting since I was a kid in the 80's and I just had one again last week: it's held up nicely!

The best thing they've got going for them is proximity. It's quick and easy, but not mindblowing. The worst is the service. They are too comfortable and casual. I get the distinct feeling that they have inside jokes about female regulars. Lots of side eye and snickers when I walk in. I could do without that.

Angelina's used to be our "go to" pizza and sub shop when we lived in Teele Square. Consistent, good pizza/sub shop fare with excellent service. We prefer supporting local business owners, and the owner puts emphasis on knowing his customers, even noticing when we had been absent for some time. Recommend the subs as well.

Pretty decent place, nice big windows to people-watch. Pizza's pretty decent. If Pizzeria Regina is a 5, and Freschetta is a 1, this pizza is a strong 3/weak 4. The preparation is good, and the dimensions and size are good, but you can tell that lower quality ingredients were used. Subs look very fresh, clean enough that they display their toppings area, which is a big plus for me. 4/5 stars.

  • Ed G.

Really good steak bomb here. The perfect blend of steak, cheese, and peppers. Calzones are solid and the pizza is just average. Staff is friendly and the prices are good. A good place for a quick bite if you're in the Teele Square area.

  • Chris J.

Great for a quick slice of pizza, though I haven't had much there. I would say that overall, for quality pizza, this isn't the place to go. Greasy slabs of crust and cheese await you. The sauce is pretty bland too. But, as I said before there great for a quick slice of pizza if you're not settling on an entree.

I'm originally from NYC, so my standards for pizza are set pretty high. In fact, I usually don't even bother buying pizza unless I am in the Tri-State, but after I moved to Somerville I decided I probably should look for a good pizza place. My two year journey led me to conclude the Angelina's has the best pizza in Somerville.

Great place for Italian subs. Pizza is average, not bad. Affordable. Neighborhood staple for residents and Tufts employees.

  • David W.

Best pizza/sub shop around... While you could argue a better pie or sub somewhere else this place does everything above average. Personal favorites: chicken parm sub Steak egg and cheese sub Chicken finger pizza

  • Gena M.

Best chicken salad sub out there. I love that the chicken salad is like a tuna salad consistency (shredded, not cubed) and is seasoned perfectly. I've probably tried a handful of other places and there's either has too much celery, it's bland, or the consistency is too runny. I've also had their Italian sub, very good too. My boyfriend LOVES their chicken parm sub. Solid sub place and consistently delicious!

Hands down the best pizza I've had in somerville or medford. Having been spoiled with great pizza in upstate NY all my life I've spent the past 6 years trying to find something comparable out here. Nothing else is even close. You want great NY style pizza this is your place. No question. Add to that the friendly service and Angelina's is a real treat.

Horrible!! I've been ordering here for years and last nite ordered a salad and pizza and went to eat my salad and there were bugs in it!! Please just be aware people! I will never order from here again. I'm disgusted because I've have eaten here many time,, you should be ashamed of yourselves!

I moved to Maryland last year, and this is one of the places I miss the most. I almost always got the same thing (Steak, no cheese), but my wife was more adventurous, and everything was good. Can't speak for the pizza, but subs, mozza sticks and french fries are fantastic. Actually, their french fries are almost too good...like, why are they so good here? Not really much seating, but it's a take out place, what do you want? Oh well. Great place. Go there.

BIG Sandwiches, BIG value! Can't beat a half jumbo sandwich before the big game with some chips and soda on the side. Great prices, great staff. Never shy on their portions and speedy delivery!

This familiar standby by has great subs and pizza. Service with a smile not extra. Friendly and knowledgeable "sandwich specialists" will guide you through the many tasty sandwiches . Try the "Tony fries"

I love this place! Obviously it's nothing fancy but it is by far the best pizza/sub shop within walking distance of Teele and Davis square. Their pizza is delicious, way way better than Mikes pizza in Davis - enjoy!

  • Olivia B.

Um. I know it's called a pizzeria, but that's really just a misdirect. Their pizza is 'meh.' This place is an urban traditional Italian (family, I assume) sub shop with fresh bread and freshly (and perfectly) sliced deli. It's a place where a half order of a sub can feed you for two days. The options on the sammie are mustard / mayo, salt / pepper, onion, pickles, tomato, lettuce. None of this "artichoke spread" or "bacon relish" m-na mnah mnah. Like it or leave it. You want cooked food? Their manicotti is ok (the ricotta filling was really delicate and lovely); but that's not what this place is about. TO REPEAT: fresh bread. Fresh and perfectly sliced deli meats. Pull your heads out of your hindquarters and order appropriately.

  • Leah K.

Good, cheap, convinient! I got two slices of cheese from Angelinas (which they heated up for me in under 2 mintues), walked to my office (5 minute walk), opened it up, and it was delicious, warm, and not too greasy. The crust (though packaged and probably steamed to death in the bag) was still crispy. Hooray! What more could you ask for? I'm reading a lot of "bad customer service" opinions here. It's a regular ol' italian joint, waddaya want? As soon as i walked in, one of the guys said hello, and they took my order like normal people. When I left, they said bye! Very polite!

  • Maeve O.

I've only ordered pizza from here once but I was not impressed. The pizza was way thicker than the photo on the website. Most importantly, the pizza was burned black on the bottom, something I've never come across before. I was too hungry to return it but would have otherwise. Yuck!

    (2)
  • Eric N.

Ask for a large pie well done and you will get the best pizza in the Davis/Teele area. I was not expecting this and was very surprised! Cue stereotypical comparison to NY pizza. They also have great onion rings and give you a ton! Friendly people too. As a stutterer, I've never had anyone here laugh, hurry me, or seem otherwise too busy/impatient to assist. My shining moment came when they were open the night of the huge blizzard in Feb 2013. Most other places were closed, but I was able to get some great pizza here!

You know what you can do with a Jumbo sub from Angelina's? Feed three people. Seriously, the subs are huge. My husband and I have split the half and both been satisfied. When I go by myself, I typically order a regular and don't finish it. I like that the guys at Angelina's will make your sub exactly as you want it. Personally, I go for the hot peppers on my turkey. I've also had them bake my sub for a few minutes for me to get the bread crispy and warm. Besides my favorite turkey, I can recommend the chicken parm from personal, repeated experience. Angie's isn't quite a five star for me to due to the occasional quality variation in the bread-to-meat-to-topping ratios of the sandwiches, but it's pretty close. If they delivered to Boston I'd probably order them way too often.

  • Jeremy K.

Had the calzone there on a Sunday evening fairly late (I believe it was past 9pm) and the service was friendly and churned the food out quickly. The calzone I ordered was the Italian one and it was both huge and tasty. Unlike other reviewers before me, mine had a LOT of toppings inside and after a few bites I had a meat-induced food coma which was made even worse by the cheese. It was good but just too much. I took it to go, along with the remainder of my dignity. The place is clean, has seating and the prices are decent.

    (3)
  • Sam S.

Decent calzone, but made with some raw and some cooked veggies (both onion and spinach were raw - blech, raw onions). Still good though, and next time I'll just pass on the spinach and onions.

You guys, I have a confession: I've been somewhat lazy in the kitchen lately, and I've been racking up Foodler points faster than you can say "Pickup or delivery?" Now, Angelina's isn't actually on Foodler, but that hasn't stopped me from ordering. There's nothing super "special" about Angelina's. It's your basic pizza/sub shop, but it's consistently good, and that's why it merits 4 stars. They're local, so delivery time is average for a pizza place (the old "30-45 minutes" estimate). The staff is friendly, the pizza is really good, and the chicken wings are crispy. What's not to like?

  • Em J.

I've lived in Teele Sq. for 3 years now, and Angelina's is one of my staples. They have unwavering quality, consistent and dependable - they never let me down. They seem to be better known for their subs and wraps than their pizza, and although the pizza is great, I can understand why that is. All the ingredients are fresh and flavorful, and the sizes offered are fair for the price. The staff are extremely friendly, and have a happy-to-serve attitude, which is another reason why I go here so often. You will never feel rushed or like you're inconveniencing someone, as you sometimes do in other small-owned businesses around Somerville. The meatball and chicken parm subs are everything you want in a simple but satisfying comfort food. Or if you want a fully loaded, bursting-with-flavor italian sub, they have all the fixings to make that happen as well. Even their BLT wrap exceeded my expectations due to the thick, crunchy, perfectly cooked strips of bacon and sweet, always-fresh tomatoes. I order this one with ranch dressing instead of mayo to add an extra dash of herbal zestiness. Now as for their pizza, since I was so happy ordering subs and wraps for so long, it took me a while to consider trying it. Once I did, however, I was glad. Their pizza has all the freshness and flavor that I want, including one of those hearty crusts that you could be happy eating by itself. The only thing I would advise, is that if you choose to order a larger pizza, you may want to ask for it well-done. The bigger pizzas tend to be a little soggy in the middle due to the cheese and sauce soaking into the thin crust. Personally, I don't mind this at all, as the outer edge of the slice is still firm enough to hold, so I just fold the floppy corner up and after the first bite, problem solved. The sauce and cheese are still fantastic tasting no matter how it ends up in your mouth. Toppings on their pizza are great, and they have a few suggested combinations to choose from, but this kind of pizza is so good you really don't need them. I usually just get cheese, and maybe one extra topping if I'm feeling fancy. Bottom line, this place is a perfect go-to meal, whether needing to grab a sub on the run, needing something to eat by yourself in front of the tv, or for hosting a party with pizzas and sandwiches. Dependable food and friendly service, every time.

Angelina's is my go to neighborhood sub shop. I can't speak to their pizza, as I haven't had it, but their turkey and chicken salad subs have been consistently great.

  • Steph F.

Pretty OK food, I go there because I live a few blocks away. I'm a fan of the chicken fingers and onion rings. The chicken parm is mediocre at best. If you're going there at night you should call first. Once they turned the fryolator off 2 hours before closing because they weren't busy, another night they closed early because the next day was Easter Sunday (it was 8:45 on a Saturday. Random). If you want a pizza/sub shop and going to Davis isn't an option (Mike's or Christos are way better if you ask me), this is the next place in the area I'd recommend **UPDATE*** I made the mistake of getting the Fish and Chips. I had a craving and I should have known better. Trust me, you don't want to get the Fish and Chips. They weren't edible. Do not repeat my mistake!

Love this place, I live nearby and eat here all the time. Their BLTs and onion rings are reaaaally good, plus the guys that work there are all really friendly and sweet. They remember our orders every time and everything is always ready in a few minutes.

  • Elbee M.

If you live in the area, I would recommend it. My friends had a tradition of walking here for dinner every Saturday and I often tagged along. I had their pizza take away too. Pizza is good, and the people that work there are great.

If I was just reviewing the pizza here they would get another star or so. Until twenty minutes ago I was a loyal Angelina's customer. I won't be back again. It was a nice go-to local spot for pizza. I have had better in the area, but I've also had much worse. They are very close to where I live and they are always pleasant when I pop in to pick up a pizza. More often than not I would drive to them to pick up. I haven't had any of their other offerings. The problem I have with Angelina's is their horrible customer service when trying to get a pizza delivered to my place. It isn't that complicated of an undertaking. I live all of 3 minutes away by car. The first time I called for delivery it took quite a bit of persuasion to get them to come out. I think it was as simple as mistaking our address with another that was much further away. Even though it was difficult, on a rare occasion my wife and I would get delivery from Angelina's. Each time it would take some convincing, but once we explained exactly where we were and the fact that they had delivered to us before, they would bring us a pizza. Tonight, they refused. They turned down a sale out of stubbornness, ignorance, or maybe both. But they lost a good customer, and a competitor, who happens to be further away than they are, is bringing out a pizza.

  • Britney S.

Ordered Jumbo wings, half buffalo, half bbq. Confirmed my address before finalizing, confirmed the order too. Delivery took an hour and a half for a place five minutes away by car. Botched the order, giving us too few wings with the sauces on the side, not what was ordered nor confirmed. Completely unapologetic when I called. Offered nothing by way of recompense or apology. Would feel different if they acted sincerely and professionally. All arguments for no reason. Terrible service, food, competance.

  • Heather C.

Angelina's is ok. They have a good selection of subs and most everything I've gotten has tasted pretty good. I'm not blown away. I don't crave their food, but if I'm walking by and I don't feel like cooking, I'll stop in. I'm a huge customer service person, and Angelina's doesn't have any. The guys who work there use as few words as possible and act like they can't wait to stop serving me. The other thing that weirds me out here is that they move from cash-collecting to food prep and back and forth without changing their rubber gloves. I was spoiled in East Arlington (not too far from Teele if you want to take a walk!) because there are a bunch of great pizza/sub shops up there and they are happy to have your business!

  • C R.

Just ok. Very cheesy. Crust was bland. Good enough if your just want something in your stomache

    (2)
  • Jen H.

The veggie calzone I had was HUGE. I ordered the small and it was still enough for multiple meals. Now, this calzone wasn't the best I've ever had, but it wasn't the worst either. As Erin M points out, there is a LOT of mozzarella in the calzones. Mine did have ricotta in it as well, but above and beyond it had mostly cheese. I would have appreciated less mozzarella and more veggies.

    (3)
  • Helen L.

Holy inconsistent pizza, Batman! This is my go-to pizza delivery place in Somerville/Medford since the pizza takeout places on Boston Avenue are pretty mediocre. I'd say that 75% of the time, the pizza's decent enough. It ain't New York, it ain't Chicago, but it serves its purpose of satisfying customer cravings for melted cheesy goodness. And, it's not Dominos. 25% of the time, you get very little tomato sauce on your pizza, the veggies are soggy, or the Ricotta is questionable. You'll do fine if you go with standard toppings: pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, pineapple. The eggplant's ok, but wicked greasy. PS - The subs get 4 stars. Good old fashioned Philadelphia-inspired white bread sandwiches with a crapload of coldcuts and fixins. Probably your best bet.

    (3)
  • Bil R.

You gotta respect the jumbo. Essentially 4 feet of meaty, cheesy deliciousness. There are few things in life more exciting than watching the guys throw one of these things together after a long, miserable day at work and ride home on the T. I think theres like a half side of cow in the cheese steaks. Whether you order the cheese steak bomb, meatball or whatever, have that baby thrown in a to go bag and walk home with a smile on your face knowing you have in your hands what might possibly be the best sub in the world. I made the mistake of moving to California so it's been a while since I've had the pleasure of a date with Angelina, but I always make a point to stop by when I am in the area. So, enjoy it you bastards, and never take Angelina and the jumbo for granted.

Lots of people love this pizza. It even got a rave review on Chowhound. I thought it was just OK. The first bite, near the center of the pie, was tasty--a nice mix of light cheese and oil, a smidgeon of sauce, and a moist, floppy crust. But toward the perimeter of the pie it wasn't very enjoyable, as the crust got thicker and crustier. There wasn't enough flavor on top, and all I tasted was crust. I would prefer more cheese, a thinner crust throughout, and more oil in the crust. But, for the price ($1.25 per slice), who's complaining?

    (2)
  • James H.

Best subs in town...classic pizza/subs joint, huge portions (half-jumbo will feed two), great staff, quick service...no complaints about this place at all... Some favorites: Chicken parm, steak and cheese, Italian, and bbq chicken subs

  • Brian K.

awesome pizza. i always get a small pepperoni pizza. if you don't order ahead, be sure to swing over to PJ Ryan's for a quick pint of guinness.

Oh yeah - the best take out pizza in or around Davis square. These guys make pizza's and sandwiches for hungry people. Enormous sized pizza and calzones - excellent sandwiches and a staff that will make you laugh you a$$ off while you are waiting. Perfect.

  • Fatty F.

This place is just what everyone needs. The subs are great and come in four sizes. The pizza is awsome too, but half the time I don't want it because the subs are just that good. I've never gotten bad tuna fish (as I have at other places and puked when I got home....but that hasnt happend yet at Angelina's). They have awsome egg plant and meat balls. And I know this sounds retarded, but I love how they carry good chocolate milk and Coca Cola Products. Makes your meal that much more enjoyable because Pepsi and Tuna is just nasty. One time I got the largest size sub and the guy cut me a a nice deal. The people there are wicked nice. And as my friend says, "Those guys could be happier to see us" (even though there is at least one woman working there, who is pleasant too) They aren't generaly grumpy and cold like the guys often are at another local sub shop. Anyhow unless your someone who doesnt like subs. You should go

  • N A.

Took an hour and a half to get the pizza when i was told forty minutes. The pizza was cold and we were overcharged. When we called about the overcharge they refused to honor the coupon we had already given them. The pizza was ok but they will never get my business again.

I'm giving Angelina's five stars with the following caveat: Always order the subs, never the pizza. This place makes the best toasted works Italian I've ever had, hands down. Their meatball provolone is also up in my top five. High quality bread and care taken in assembly is what makes a sub shop amazing. I've never liked their pizza very much, but I haven't had it since grade school based on the fact that once I started eating their subs I never wanted anything else. So maybe the pizza has improved since then, who knows; it was just never my cup of tea. Once you get a sub here, you'll never be able to choke down the drek they serve at Quizno's and Subway again. I usually get a Half and have leftovers. Delivery has never been a problem either for me. On busy nights, it takes longer, but they've always been true to their estimates over the phone, and sometimes I've gotten my order in 15 minutes flat - although admittedly I was living on just the other side of Davis.

  • Michael F.

I've never had anything bad here. From ordering pizzas to bring home, to getting a sub and sitting down, everything is amazing. Steak and cheese, pizzas, chicken cutlets...mmmm. If I had one last thing to eat before I died, it would a chicken parm sub from Angelinas, no lie. Chicken cutlets are bomb, sauce is amazing, salt, pepper, grated cheese, and it's just, well, the perfect sub. You will be missed in CA. And when I come home to visit, this will most definitely be a stop. Man, I kind of want a chicken parm now, dammit.

    (5)
  • Glenn N.

From the outside, this looks like something that belongs in a small town stripmall, but once I walk in, the food and service blow me away. Always fast, exactly what I ordered and very very tasty.

    (4)
  • Anthony R.

Your basic neighborhood pizza place. Thin but chewy crust, unremarkable sauce, and pretty generous cheese. Angelina's is cheap though. Like way cheap -- $1.50 for a good-sized cheese slice or $2 for a 'roni slice makes it a pretty tasty utilitarian lunch for well under $5, which is just about perfect if that's what you're looking for. Make sure to use the coupon (in the images on the Yelp page) for 2 large cheeses for $14.99 and feed yourself and a few of your friends with decent pizza for short money. Ain't no problem with that.

    (3)
  • John L.

i can really only speak to the chicken parm sub...and it is the best. traditional with american cheese? maybe not....but it tastes as good as it gets. a depending on your hunger level, they offer quite a few size options.

Re: Calzones. Calzones are not just made with mozzarella. It's gross. I can melt a block of mozzarella cheese on dough myself and make it have more flavor than Angelina's did. There is ricotta involved in a cheese calzone...ALWAYS. Aside from the fact that the food is flavorless, the deliveryman who came to deliver the flavorless food to my house for my roommate and I also managed to STEAL our snow brush to wipe off our cars from our foyer. He just simply walked out with it. At first we thought we lost the snow brush but we called after carefully retracing our steps when this incident occurred right before Christmas. The person who picked up the phone says "Yeah, hold on" when we gently inquire about the delivery person in question and then comes back on the line to say, "Yeah, we have it. We'll bring it back." THAT IS STEALING and they had ZERO regard for that or the hefty tip the deliveryman received. In the end someone else came back to give us back our stolen snowbrush (in an AUDI no less) with a weak apology and no refund, which would have been nice considering it is really discomforting knowing that someone just thinks it's ok to take stuff from random people's houses. And let me stress again, the food has no flavor.

  • Jared O.

To me, good pizza is like good cheesecake -- toppings just take away from it. Angelina's doesn't quite hit that mark, but it'll satisfy my pizza cravings in a way that other area places don't do. Also, I actually think the crust is better when I buy by the slice rather than a whole pie...I have no explanation for why, but that's just the way it is. And at $1.50/slice, it's a hard deal to beat.

    (4)
  • Thomas M.

Well, the delivery driver was very prompt and nice. The food, however, bad. The quest for a good chicken param sub in Boston continues... sigh. Nit a good sub, not good bread, sauce was mediocre, tasted like they used cheeze wiz

    (1)
  • James S.

I've only ever had subs here. The Half means they need to cut it in half because it's so big. You basically get two medium sized subs for 8-9 bucks. Awesome. They make a great steak and cheese, and I am really, really picky about my steak and cheese (i usually make my own....the secret is good steak and way more cheese than you think is necessary...they have the same philosophy). I had an Italian there today. I was happy, but not blown away. No capricola so he gave me extra salami (plenty of meat and provolone on that sandwich). 'Everything' does not constitute hots. That pissed me off, but I do understand many folks don't like hots. Just make sure you ask for them explicitly. Shredded lettuce is fine but I know some folks hate it. Their marinara sauce is really good. I like to get some on my steak and cheese. Mozz sticks are not great, but they aren't disappointing and I would def get them again.

  • Dana B.

Hooray! I have finally managed to find a kickin eggplant parm sub. This sub was damn near perfect! Not many seeds (thats the worst!) - just the right amount of sauce and cheese. The sub was brought to me be a very friendly gentleman who asked me how my night was going and was just all around pleasant. He was the kind of guy I wanted bringing me my food. As if he was saying "Here you are. I made this to perfection just for you, because I care about you and what you eat." We had ordered two "half" subs and discovered four halfs when we opened the bag up. Apparently, there is a half to a half. At first this was overwhelming, but after taking the first bite, I immediately knew I would be consuming about 4lbs of eggplant. And I was totally ok with it. I put away that beast. And I wouldn't have done it any differently. Bravo, Angelinas, you nailed it!

  • Monica R.

5 star subs! 1 star pizza! Hands down the best chicken subs.... I love going here when I don't have time to cook! I would never order a pizza here again though. I love green peppers on top of my pizza... I should rephrase.... I love crisp green peppers on my pizza. How they end up mushy (like they had been pre steamed or something) every time beats me!! Gross!

I called for delivery at 7:40 pm on a Saturday night and they delivered 30 to 45 minutes latter as promised. The pizza is good neighborhood pizza fare and there is nothing wrong that. I also got a chicken parm sandwich which was very good and great for lunch at work after throwing in the 'fridge after they delivered. The key selling point is that they have a good selection and very cheap. I was expecting cardboard crust on the pizza because of the price but its was light and fluffy.

Nothing really remarkable about this place. I came here with a friend for a pizza/boardgame night. The pizza was fine, the restaurant itself...well, it had chairs and tables. Admittedly, it is pretty inexpensive, which I can't hate on. Also, the staff was really friendly, engaging us and generally making us feel welcome, which was nice, considering we had been sitting for a while just playing our games. Angelina's also seems to be a hangout spot for the local highschool kids, which can be a little annoying, but hey, they're performing a community service, right?

Generic cheap pizza. Nothing special, but it gets the job done. Especially on lunch breaks at work.

The food at Angelina's is tasty, the service is speedy, and price is very low. I usually go in for a quick two-slice lunch. I'm kind of boring (only go for cheese) but it was clear on the first bite that the guys at Angelina's make pizza well. The subs are pretty good, with the chicken parm being my favorite in somerville/cambridge area. The only thing I would really criticize is that the employees are a bit brusque. The pizza however more than makes up for it.

I in Teele Square and there are 3 Pizza shops, this is the ONLY one that I go to. Let me put it to you this way, I'm originally from a New York Area where a certain Teflon Don grew up. My point is that I know italian food better than most, even being Irish, I could spot the quality in Angelina's food from jump street. Being a young, single and very picky guy - I give Angelina's my business and so do most people who live around the area.

I've only had delivery so far, so I can't comment on the actually storefront, dine in experience, but here's what I do know: The calzones are quite good. The sauce is yummy. A small is very large. The idea of a large is frightening to me. I don't think they will make good left-overs tho. They seem to harden/dry out. The pizza was pretty good. Not "quite" good only because I think the crust could have been improved upon. Anyway, definitely pleasant pizza experiences to be had from Angelina's. I feel like it ends up costing a little more than it should, but maybe that's because of the $1 delivery fee plus tip for the driver. Actually I think it's because they charge $1.75 per extra calzone filling. Who gets a calzone with ONE topping/filling? You need at least two. That automatically makes your $9 calzone a $10.75 calzone, at the least. Anyway, definitely worth a shot for some yummy pizza treats in Davis.

Home of the Jumbo! These guys are not afraid to fill your gullet with ENORMOUS subs. They come in four sizes; small, large, half and jumbo. I have only ordered a small, and that is probably considered a medium at most places, so I can't fathom how huge a jumbo must be! It has to feed a family of seven, I would guess. I love their subs, and they're very efficient. This is a no-frills sub place, with a counter and a smattering of tables, I'd recommend takeout, rather than eating in. Most of my experience has been with their subs, although they also have pizza, calzones and dinner plates with pasta, chicken and fish. I personally think they make one of the best chicken parms and I love their tuna subs too.

I can't speak to a lot about this place, but I can speak to the steak & cheese, as well as the french fries. I'm a creature of habit, and when I go to Angelina's, that's what I order. I've ordered from a long of places all over Somerville, and never have I had fries as good as the ones I get from Angelina's. At most places, they deliver soggy fries or cold fries and think nothing of it. Whether I've had the fries for pickup or delivery, they've always been incredible. A large fry for $4 is a meal in and of itself. I'm a big guy, but after downing one of these large fries, I'm rarely still hungry enough to polish off their entire sub. And the subs are big. A regular steak and cheese is a great size, they'll give you free peppers and onions (not a given at all places) and make it the way you like it. After ordering three or four times from there, they know to put salt and pepper on without even asking me if I want it. And if you order the half, you better bring your appetite. It's incredibly big, essentially two of the smaller subs, and it's a lot to handle. It's about 6.50 for the regular and 8.50 for the half -- very reasonable prices, and the half is a complete steal at only $2 more. Realistically, a great dinner for two would be a large fry and a half steak and cheese -- but good luck getting any of those fries away from me.

If you like chicken parm, you may go a month with out eating anything but chicken parm subs from Angelina's. I needed to make a New Years resolution to promise not to eat so many. That much chicken parm just can't be good for you. The people behind the counter are great and seem like they have fun while they work, it is nice to see when you are picking your food up. I have also enjoyed the pizza and other subs that I have got here as well. The only reason that I didn't give this place 5 stars is that it does not have the best steak n' cheese sub in the world. Sorry, nothing really witty or funny here because sub shops aren't funny, just tasty.

Nice people average food. Tried a steak tip salad, which was good but not great. Though a good amount of steak. Chicken wings were nothing special. The falafel was above average but the fries lacked.

I habitually order Chicken Cutlet subs from this place. They bread and fry real pieces of chicken breast and it is so good. Reminds me of a little italian place in my hometown where everything is cooked by a 70 year old italian lady who only knows english swears (not sure if thats the actual situation, but it tastes that way). Anyways we always go for the HJs (half-jumbo) and usually split a straight J (or jumbo) if my roomate is in on it as its cheaper than getting them seperate. A J can easily feed 4 people (in our case 2)and works out to about $5 a person. Throw in a couple a colas and you are set.

I had the worst eggplant parmesan sub ever from here. Soggy textureless eggplant, mediocre bun, boring sauce and no crusty gooey cheese. It was bland beyond belief. When the girl asked me what kind of cheese I wanted I knew I had made a mistake...it could be that their other menu options are better but having started with the eggplant sub I don't think I'll be back.

Living in Somerville all of my life. Been coming here all of my life. Pizza is pretty good - cheap - pretty much whatever toppings you want. The staff is always funny and friendly. Best chicken parm/chicken cutlet subs and they make a damn good italian sub too. It's a great place to come on weekends or nights I don't wanna cook. Love it here... I mean, it's not 5 stars, but... I never have had a bad experience here and it's cheap. It's great. Best sub/pizzas around this area.

Well, I've only dealt with Angelina's twice, but both experiences have been good. I went once in person for a calzone and ordered a pizza for delivery tonight. Well the first thing I need to point out is the calzones are absolutely enourmous-even the small sizes. The subs can also be ordered up to ridiculously long lengths-think 3 foot subs. You won't go hungry eating here and the prices are low. As for my food, the dough they use is pretty good and the calzone was great with good cheese (chicken parm). The pizza we had tonight was good for what we paid though please understand it's not in the category of a Pinnochio's or Pizzeria Regina-not even close. I call it middle-ground pizza and it was good and better than some of the local other places I've had that compete with them. I give it four stars because of the large amounts of decent food they give, and the fact they had a piping hot pizza in my hands 30 minutes after I ordered for delivery (during a Pats game too!). I'd say folks in the area who need reliable affordable food should give it a try.

This is a neighborhood pizza/sub shop. They staff is friendly, the price is cheap and the food is good. I try every other place up and down mass ave and I always come back to this one. Steak and cheese is amazing! Meatball sub is good too. check it out if you want a good slice or sub for cheap.

I live about 300 yards away, but I'm too lazy to walk up there, preferring to call and get my order delivered. The place in itself isn't supernice-looking: definitely more of a take-out than an eat-in. Now for the review per se: It is AWESOME! The calzones are divine. Both are equally good. Subs are ish IMO but then again I have only tried one (I don't really like the bread). I followed other Yelpers' advice and had the chicken parmigiana calzone, then tried the chicken/feta/peppers, both are equally amazing in their own special way. The pizza is so good that I have saved their number in my cell phone so I don't have to look for the flier each time I order. Call them now and order -- you won't regret it. Did I mention their calzones?

I moved out of Somerville 3 years ago and I still crave the pizza--I get one everytime I'm in town though. The pizza is perfect and the subs are excellent. Pricess are great. The guys behind the counter are also witty and seem to have fun teasing both eachother and the customers. I LOVE Angelina's!!

I am giving this place 5 stars because it really is my favorite pizza in within the Somerville and Medford area (yes, even better than The Paddock). I've gone well out of my way on many a night to pick up a pie from Angelina's. A thin crust, not too saucy, and the perfect amount of cheese. Add a root beer and I'm in pizza heaven. Great pizza, subs and staff. You won't regret it.

This place is legit. It's your standard, no frills, italian sub shop. They have good ingredients, good bread (which is huge in my book) and they don't mess around when it comes to loading up your sub with stuff. Definitely do take out as the ambience is pretty much non-existent but it's perfect to stop in and grab a sub for dinner. They are quick and the prices are on par with any other sub spot.

Simply the best place for a chicken parm sub! I used to live in Medford, really close to Angelina's, and this was my go-to place. I don't live in Massachusetts anymore, but any time I come back up, I try to make sure to get to Angelina's!

Yelp I love you, but you failed me this time. Last friday night we were looking for some good take-out and wanted to try something new. I was in the mood for a sub, but after all the rave reviews ordered a chicken parm calzone. It was large, very large -- I give you that. But it was dry and the corners were empty and a tad hard, so basically only worthy of the trash. The wait was CRAZY long and the prices were high. So overall it was just plain bad. Yes, it was only one time, but with all the great options in the area, it won't be getting a second chance from me.

Being a huge steak and cheese afficionado, I must say I go here when I really want an excellent S&C. Go with the half, it's bigger than any large in town. A chill atmosphere and they're quick. Pizzas are decent, but I go here pretty much just for the steak and cheeses.

I've only ordered there once, but my decision was based on rave Yelp reviews...Eveyone said how great the calzones were so...we ordered 2 large calzones. They took a while to get delivered (bout 1 hour). They were large, but very overpriced...and oh ya, the calzones were okay, but by no means great.

I can only vouch for the Subs, I've never tried the pizza. Ordered one of those jumbo subs a week ago. It's actually 4 small subs, it doesn't come in 1 large sub, this was disappointing. There was no meat on the sub, they put enough meat to fill not even 2 of the four halves. My friend got a meatball sub, he said it was good but too dry, it need more sauce. There's better options out there, however their pizza might be good, I wouldn't recommend the subs, unless you dont mind subs with minimal meat.

For a neighborhood pizzeria, I think Angelina's is pretty good. One of my favorites to order there is there Greek Salad with Grilled Chicken with vinegarette instead of the typical creamy Greek dressing. The staff was friendly and the service was prompt... price for salad was reasonable and it was good. I would recommend it to others to visit.

We recently moved to Teele Square and were looking for pizza joints in the area to replace our standards (Upper Crust and Beauty's in Cambridge). We had been to Marino's a couple times, but unfortunately they recently closed and we were forced to find another local pizza/sub joint. Wow. Our experience with Angelina's was TERRIBLE! The bar is already set pretty low for these type of establishments for cheap filling (usually greasy) meals, however, they were doing the limbo when they served us our meal. My SO was not in the mood for pizza and wanted chicken fingers so I ordered fish & chips. The fish was the same or even worse quality as any fast food restaurant (McDonalds or Burger King): no flavor, *old* and dry. Initially, I was pleased because the dinner plates came with fries AND salad. However, the fries were not crispy, but limp and very meh. The salad - sigh - well, I was more than disappointed when I found ROTTING lettuce. It's not a word I use to describe food very often, but it was simply disgusting. Overall, the "food" lacked any texture and flavor. Despite our sub-par experience, we will give their pizza a try and I will update my review once we do.

First of all the guy who answered the phone to take our order was rude. He acted like we were disturbing him at his home or something. My italian sub had hardly any meat in it, no mayo, no mustard, i asked for american as well as provalone cheese- didn't happen. The bottom of the bread was over cooked and gave the whole sub a bitter taste. I ordered a regular sub so it came in two pieces. I didn't bother to open the second half. I'm not ordering from this place again every time I do they forget something specific I ask for. The know that once they drop the food and run you're stuck with it so they don't really bother to get orders right. The chicken cutlets are ALWAYS overcooked and therfore tough. Our veggie sub with toasted bread and melted cheese was burnt. When I have gone in to pick up food they act like perverts and they were rude to my boyfriend. He refused to eat there and went across the street to the other pizza place. I asked for no salt on certian items they were liberally salted. The delivery guy knocked like a cop and scared everyone in my house. Do yourself a favor and SKIP this one!

This is my neighborhood pizza place. I think their pizza is very good - toppings are a little sparse but crust and sauce are fantastic. A tiny bit pricey for a neighborhood joint, but worth it. Parking can be tough for pick-up.

I can see why they are home of the jumbo! The amount of food in their subs is simply amazing! I have had their pizza in the past and that too is good. I like that they make everything right out in the open so you can see whats being done. I highly recommend you give this place a try if you have not already!!
