We went to the Seaport Cafe to see the band playing there, FOX PASS, which we follow, Saturday night. We had terrific food and a terrific time. My thanks to owner Greg and our waitress Meg for the good food and good time. I always like a restaurant where the owner personally stops by to check on your food and service. We had the portobello mushroom seafood dinner and it was perfect; great scallops and great shrimp, cooked just right. By the end of the night, everybody was up dancing. A great party, a great band, and a great time. I recommend the Seaport Cafe highly.

Slow service, bland burger. Not sure why I went here with Finz & Lobster Shanty nearby...

We've had mixed experiences here with the food. The menu is very basic-- a step or two above a sub shop, which is fine if you're expecting it. The steak tip sandwich is tasty, salads & sides are good, and the lobster roll was fine. We've certainly had better, but the outdoor seating and people-watching potential here make it worthwhile. However, the service is consistently awful. Owners seem nice, but need to employ more competent staff. Every time we go, something is forgotten, prepared incorrectly, or takes a shockingly long time to arrive. We only go if the weather is great and we have plenty of time to hang out.

You know how in simulation games - like the Sims or whatever - you create all these cool characters to represent yourself or family members or Johnny Depp? And then you place them in virtual scenarios and see how they react? And you know how while your paying attention to these creations, there's all sorts of stuff going on in the background? Like, you're focused on the Mom, Dad and kid you made from scratch and wondering how they'll behave in Sim Mall, but in the meantime the game itself has created all these random stores on the fly to occupy the rest of Sim Mall - a pet shop with the same dog chasing its tail over and over again, some salon with a woman getting her hair permed that never quite seems to be finished and that one restaurant where the guy is nursing his glass of soda and poking up from a newspaper while the chef just shuffles back and forth and the waitress hits up the same tables in the same order asking the same questions. Seaport Cafe is the auto-generated restaurant in that game. It's about as ho-hum and average as you can get. I can't say anything terribly bad about the place but neither can I throw it compliments. They have average menu items cooked in an average way, average specials that you'd expect from this type of place, average decor, average beer in bottles and average beer on tap, average service (actually, it may be slightly below average, but not really worth complaining about). This place is just about the most perfect 5 out 10 spot imaginable. Normally, average doesn't bother me much, but for a location with such potential in a city with a lot of other less average options I can't help but feel sad for this one and can't help but think its days are numbered.

I was roaming around Salem enjoying the street fair and tax free weekend and could not decide what to do for lunch. I then remembered that I wanted to try this place. I was by myself and sat outside so I could people watch. I had a delicious half portion of a greek salad though there were alot of olives on it and I'm not a huge fan of olives, an unsweetned ice te that did not taste bitter like some do at all and a seafood chowder. My only complaint was that chowder was a little sweet. My server was good and just attentive enough though she did not introduce herself.

What happened? Last year I rated this place 5 stars. After my last visit here, I don't think I will ever go back. So sad this place has taken a change for the worse. The service was lousy. The hostess felt was borderline rude. She acted like she was doing us a huge favor by seating us! The service was slow. We noticed this was the case at every table. We actually witnessed a waitress filing her nails! The prices have gone up, the portions and the quality have gone way down. Such a shame.

Had a long wait. Rude service. Messed up the order, and did not fix the order or appokogize. Burnt our food. Overall worst restaurant experience I have a had in a long time. Also, tried to charge us for things we did not order, and overheard other people had that same problem...

I want to preface this review by stating that I used to be a waitress, I was one for years, so I think I have a very good feel for how hard the work is and how easy it is to be a good waitress. I typically tip very well and it takes a lot to ruin an experience for me. I've only ever NOT left a tip twice and the service at Seaport was so unbelievably bad that we left, sans tip. We went as a group of four a little after the lunch rush in the hopes of a quick meal. There were very few people there and we sat inside. The place itself looked somewhat cute, but wasn't all that spectacular. Our waitress had two tables with people, including us (and the other table had left by the time we got past our appetizers). We ordered apps, soups, and entrees. It started to fall apart after we ordered our sodas. It took 10 minutes to get our drinks, no exageration. Once we got our drinks (no straws or sweeteners for iced tea despite our request) our waitress disappeared. About 10 minutes after this she reappeared with the apps, still no sweetener. The food was fine. I don't even recall what we ordered for apps as it wasn't all that great. The waitress then disappeared again, presumably for sweetener. By this time we'd finished our drinks. About 15 minutes goes by and she returns and we flag her down for refills...still no sweetener. In the meantime a few other waitstaff walk right by our table and never offer to remove the dishes, refill our sodas, anything. The soup was MUCH better. French Onion soup, piping hot and dripping with cheese. By the time our refill of drinks came we were done with the soups. Still no sweetener. At this point those with iced tea gave up and asked for different drinks. The entrees took another 15 minutes to arrive and we were getting more than upset at this time. Sitting at a table with friends is nice but not when you've spent the better part of an hour waiting for food and drinks. The entrees finally arrived with the exception of mine. We had ordered a pasta dish, a chicken dish and two barbeque cheeseburgers. We got our order with one less cheeseburger. Now, this is where I don't understand how she could have gotten it wrong. She came over and handed everyone their dish and walked away. I sat there waiting. I had assumed it was because she was about to bring it over, but no. I had to wait another 5 minutes before she surfaced again so I could alert her to my lack of food and she seemed truly shocked that there wasn't a dish in front of me and then admitted, laughing, that she had forgotten to write it down. She ran to the back and within about 10 minutes she brought out another burger for me. The food was good, the burger was tasty and everyone enjoyed their dishes. Then we waited for the check. And waited. We had still not seen our waitress since she delivered my very late meal. Finally, about 15 additional minutes after we had all finished eating I grabbed another waitress and asked for our check. Our original waitress showed up with a big smile on her face and the check....without a single mention of all the screw ups, the wait, or even the tiniest deduction for our troubles. Not even free soda. A bad experience can happen to any waitress. I've had them myself, though usually during a huge rush and I've never missed an entree.... but when you have two tables, two....and its not busy in the slightest....that is truly unacceptable. So, when it came time to leave our check we left it without a tip. I'd have rather gotten my own drinks, my own food, and my own check than had to have spent 1.5 hours at a place where we should have been in and out in 45 minutes simply because the waitress and staff couldn't care enough to give us any service. We will not be returning despite regular trips to Salem.

Their food is very good and quite reasonably priced, but their service really needs some work. Nice people, but verrrrrry slow and not familiar enough with the contents of the dishes they serve - e.g., I ordered "a cup of chowder, but only if it doesn't have bacon in it." Guess what I found in my first spoonful? That's right, a big ol' hunk of swine flesh. The server also told my companion that his steak tip sandwich would be served on a "sub-type roll," but it arrived on a brioche bun. These gaffes and a few others (e.g. taking for - ev - er to bring drinks to the table, forgetting to ask questions about the dishes we ordered while we were ordering them, etc) notwithstanding, the food was quite tasty and generously portioned. I bet I'd be willing to bump this up to four stars after they've been open for a bit longer and the servers have had more of a chance to acquaint themselves with the menu. Also FYI, they do not currently offer breakfast - but our server informed me that they hope to start in about a month or so.

This place gets 5 stars for being super friendly. My boyfriend and I missed our ferry back to Boston and were stranded for a couple extra hours in Salem, so we went to find a quiet place to have a drink. We stumbled on this place, and although we didn't eat, it gets 5 stars for a super friendly staff and owner. We sat outside and the owner noticed us and ran in to grab a server, they made that extra couple hours really fun when I typically would have been miserable on account of being stranded. I'll definitely go back for dinner some time soon.

Great food, great price and friendly atmosphere. Stopped in here for a quick bite on my trip up, the owner is new and was extremely friendly as was the staff. Had the seafood medley special and it was delicious, as were the mashed potatoes and asparagus. I would definitely go back there!

Not bad overall... But here are my thoughts... Kind of a small menu, I got a fried shrimp plate and my wife got the broiled haddock. Food was very good. Plenty of shrimp nice light batter. Haddock was seasoned and cooked perfect. The place was clean. However, the waitstaff was very lackadaisical, forgot to tell us the specials and inform us of some things they did not have. And yes the have a live band at night on the weekends. I did not think they were too loud.

Searching restlessly through crowded Salem streets, everywhere we went was either packed and overpriced or suspiciously dead inside. Inching our way down Essex, through all of the haunted houses, and then finally onto Derby, we came across The Seaport Cafe! We sat outside although it was a little chilly to avoid a 20 minute wait. Which made it extra sweet when, at the end of our meal, we were all given hot water and a can of hot chocolate mix. mmm. We got the clam chowder and the french onion, which were both great. The lobster roll and fish&chips were also yummy. I really wish we could have tried the lobster quasadilla, but we held out. What really topped it off? Their beer selection...including the reasonably priced Pumking Ale on the seasonal menu. If I had to say anything bad about the place, the menu wasn't too overwelming...mostly fried seafood and such. Overall, it was a nice place to eat, the waiter was really sweet, and we walked away paying a little over $20 a person. Not bad!

This restaurant seems to have an identity crisis. Is it a sports bar as all the flat screen TVS would indicate or a homey place to get seafood? My first experience was good, last night was not. The grubby menus were a turn off as were all the TVS that were impossible to escape no matter where you sat. There were high chairs and other furniture piled up in one corner and way too much exposure to the workings of the kitchen. I ordered a lobster quesadilla which was just awful. Clearly the lobster came from a can which is a sin for a seafood restaurant. The service was friendly but a bit erratic for a nearly empty restaurant. There are plenty of other places in Salem to go where the food and ambiance are much, much better for the same price.

I've had mixed experiences at Seaport. I've been there three times now this summer. They have a great lobster roll at a good price ($11.95) their burger was pretty good too. my last experience however was forgetable. I went there with my girlfriend about a week ago and sat at the bar. Bad choice... the bartender didn't seem to care about us as she was talking to her middle-aged townie friends literally the entire time we were there.. fine. Anyways she got the lobster roll and was pleased. I took the risk of getting chicken marsala and expected to be let down. However I was pleasently surprised at how good it was until I discovered a hair in it! I wasn't too upset as I understand that this happens from time to time. The bartender took it away from me and got me another oder, however wasn't very apologetic and seemed like she didn't give two expletives if we ever came back, almost as if she were annoyed at me for their mistake. Oh well tipped her %20 anyways she can use it more than me. Would be 5 stars should be 3, but I'll give it a 4..... (3.5 if I could)

We went here for lunch and it was very nice. We both ordered the hamburger - one with fries the other with onion rings. Everything was wonderful, the burgers were cooked perfectly to order, the fries and onion rings yummy. We enjoyed sitting outside in the shade.

I have been waiting for a place like this to hit downtown. I love the simplicity and casual vibe. You can go to the counter and order takeout or have a seat...they have booths and tables and a bar area with big screens. It's great to have a place in Pickering Wharf that you can order a lobster roll or a fried clam plate that is simple and delicious. And priced very well. We had the fried clam appetizer...it wasn't my favorite fried clams but they were good. My favorite is from Kings for point of reference. Lobster roll came on a buttery toasted brioche roll and was perfect. Just lobster and mayo...and substantial. They have the regular and large size lobster roll but the regular was more than enough. The onion rings were frozen...boo. But my husband's potato salad and the cole slaw was fresh, light and tasty. My hubby also had the cranberry chicken salad on a brioche roll and loved it. They also have a Richardson's ice cream window! No hot fudge for you sundae lovers. The service was good. We went while it was a bit slow and our waiter was attentive. I ordered a Sam Summer but they were changing the keg so he gave me a free beer which was very nice. Little things like that always make a difference. There is also excellent people watching patio tables. This will be our new go-to casual sandwich place.

This place has promise, ok food and a good location...outdoor dining and the interior is nicer than many local spots. I hate to bet against a place but I'm not sure this place can make it through the off season more than once or twice. If you're a local it feels like a spring break cross between the Witch's Brew and Pig's Eye run by high school kids in cargo shorts. The outdoor hostess station needs to go back to the trash pile in the point where it came from. The high school hostess pair seemed not to notice us walk up... there should be only one hostess and that station should be at the enterance to the outdoor dining area not hidden 40 feet away. Next there is this confused ice cream window concept by the serving station thats more like unmanned storage. Random customers will stand waiting for ice cream and someone to notice them, some give up and go away others observe the dish boy slathered in dish goo entering and exiting the dining area to retrieve dishes from the serving station. Meanwhile the ad hoc server station is rolling around and servers are reaching over and under to find utensils. Here is some good advice dump the ice cream concept and convert that area into a proper server station so people at the window booths don't need to watch dishes being cleared. I watched the owner/GM talk to a couple through 1/2 their meal about the menu... he wasn't that interesting and he didn't take the hint from the couple. Also, people seem to be allowed to smoke at the outside tables and the smoke makes its way inside, management should get on this as I think its against the law. The food is ok. The salads had old greens like they came from a bag and someone didn't look through for the gooey ones. The steak tips were good but slathered in BBQ... send that on the side. The buffalo fingers are from a bag so no props there, fries are great and prices are great. The beer/wine selection is for the Bud Light crowd. Make some smart choices around your organization, clean up the service and you'll make a ton of money. As is you're at best going to get a trashy local crowd and squeek by.... or most likely you'll go bankrupt if you keep this up.

I had dinner here tonight with my wife and was not disappointed. The staff was very attentive and kept checking on us while we were making our decisions and provided us with some suggestions. We started with some drinks and a calamari appetizer. The beer list is full of local beers. I recommend the Two Roads IPA. Very good and paired very well with my dinner. The calamari was lightly fried and severed with hot peppers and very good tomato sauce. We went here specifically for the lobster roll. We had heard that it was one of the best on the North Shore. I was not disappointed, as someone that has lived in New England their entire life, and lived for many years in Maine I have eaten many lobster rolls and consider my self a lobster roll aficionado. The roll had a light mayo on it and was served on a hot dog bun with some fresh lettuce. There was no filler and the roll was over flowing. It was fresh and I watched the chef prepare the roll. My wife had the Seafood Marinara that was full of scallops and shrimp. We were both very pleased with the meal. The best part of the meal was when the chef came out to check on us and if we liked the meal. I believe his name was Mike, he talked with such passion and enthusiasm for his food. He was proud and humbled that we drove from Central MA to try the award winning lobster roll. This little gesture really impresses me when I go to a restaurant; it makes you feel at home and welcome. It also shows that the chef cares about his/her food and the product they are putting out. Mike did a great job, and his love of food was definitely evident. The next time I am in Salem I will be swinging in again !

If your into just drinking & just OK food..this is the place for you.. I popped into Brodie's for a coke & a quick snack..A very bad Idea..they don't really do takeout.. sit-down only...So I had to sit at a table to wait almost 40 minutes for 3 cokes & an order of Chi ken Tenders.. The Waitress we had was very nice & understood we just wanted some quick takeout..Her attitude as well as most of the other waitress's seemed a bit annoyed, not by the customers but more towards the management & Brodie's Service.. The waitress's ran around constantly on the move..The reason being the manager which seemed to me a bit of a task master.. it made us uncomfortable.. We were promptly were brought our cokes they were small but we were given a free refill.. On to the food..Not impressed at all..our single order of Chicken Tenders took approx 35-40 to get..We saw what looked like cooks coming going from the kitchen just kind of taking their time...Needless to say the service was extremely slow... The food we did see come out of the kitchen was not very good looking to the eye..no attention to plating sloped on a plate..small portions as well. we overheard 2 other tables complain about the food, slow service, portion size, and above average prices.. Brodie's is in the Pickering Wharf area..I know it's a tourist area..But if your going to have higher prices..you should at least have good service with good portions.. $22 for 3 Cokes, & 1 Order of Chicken Tenders (5 pcs medium in size), tax & tip...Not again.....

Went for lunch on a Sunday afternoon-took about five minutes to seat us because there was no waitress/host at the desk. After finally being seated, it took about 10 minutes to get water. I order a burger and my girlfriend ordered a grilled cheese (two of the most basic options) and it took over 30 minutes to get our food. I overheard one of the waitresses tell a customer that the kitchen wasn't busy so I don't understand why it took so long to get our food. We didn't get offered refills on our water until about halfway through our meal. This was honestly one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had. The only thing that keeps it from being the worst is the waitress was pleasant...just really slow. I would NOT recommend this restaurant at all.

We were looking for a place to have our wedding after party since most of our guests were staying at The Salem Waterfront Hotel and the Hawthorne Hotel up the street. It was a Sunday wedding in August and everyplace we looked in to... would not keep their kitchen open later than 10pm....Not Brodie's! My brother-in-law spoke with the owner and he was sooooo accommodating! We pre-ordered some apps so when guests arrived around 10:30pm there were some snacks... the bartenders were awesome as well! The fried clams and chicken fingers were seriously amazing! We ended up ordering a few more rounds of hot appetizers and they were delicious! So if you're looking to have an event or large group party at Brodie's Seaport we highly recommend it... it is family owned and operated and they take great pride in that! Something you don't see often!

My wife and I go to Brodie's frequently because it never disappoints. Great location near the water, friendly, attentive staff and, of course, the food, which is always fresh and delicious. We've tried it all: the burgers, flatbread, fish sandwiches, chowder. Tough decisions. I particularly love their salmon over tossed salad. It's as good as it gets. So, if you want great food, great drinks and a warm, friendly atmosphere give Brodie's Seaport in Salem a try. Oh, did I mention that the prices are reasonable?

Picked Brodies since it was a beautiful day to sit outside. We were seated right away. We were waited on by Nick, who was super friendly & attentive even though he was covering the bar also. I had the burger special which came with Jack Daniel caramelized onions - highly recommend - delicious. He had the whole belly clam also cooked perfectly. The owner even came over to see how we liked everything and stayed to chat for abit. He gave us the frequent diner card, good deal, not many places offer this. Since we are local will definitely take advantage. Parking is a little tough in the area but that is just how the wharf is. So recommend if you want a nice place to sit, have good food, friendly service & relax

It only took a million years to get our order. The cooks were on point, we watched the food come out quickly, then sit for a while before the servers would pick up the orders. The food was basic, not bad but it didn't blow my Nuva ring out or anything. It atmosphere was very quiet, there wasn't any background music, I mean, c'mon, give us a little Luther Vandross. The window seats are great for people watching! Kinda pricey, but hey it's a tourist town.

Got steak tips which were overcooked and when i cut my 3rd steak tip in half, A BEATLE CRAWLED OUT FROM UNDER. No lie.Disgusting. Will never go back. They did not know how to handle the situation and had to ask to see the manager. They took the steak tips off the bill and made me feel like they were doing me a favor. They didnt offer a complimentary meal or anything. Left grossed out. Also Waited over a half hour for our nacho appetizer. Terrible service. and ruined my night.

Abhorrent service--won't be returning. We ordered a lobster roll and salad. Upon receiving our salad, we asked our server, Tanya (blonde hair), for an extra salad plate. She replied rudely, "that's already a plate" and pointed to the small utensil/appetizer plate and then walked away. My friend and I shared our food with each other, so we could both experience the popular lobster roll. When we got our bill, we saw a $5 fee on it for a "split plate upcharge." We asked Tanya about this, who replied that it says on the menu that $5 will be charged for splitting plates. We never used the kitchen's or Tanya's service to split the plate of food into even portions. We were simply sharing our food, so why were we still charged? It would have been understandable if we even got another plate from Tanya in order to "split" our food, but we didn't. So what would we be paying $5 for? Tanya was very rude about this and spoke to us in degrading tones. We asked to speak with the manager. She went in the back and came out in a few minutes stating that the manager said "it's on the menu, so read it again." The menu says "Splitting of Plates--$5 upcharge." The fact is, we still did not use the restaurant's service to "split" our food. If the restaurant wants to punish customers for sharing food on their own, then it should be clearly stated as something like, "we will charge you $5 for sharing your food, or for having us split your plate for you in the kitchen." Overall, very poor and unprofessional service from both Tanya and the manager of this restaurant. Was this just poor customer service in general? Most definitely. However, being the only people of color in this restaurant, was it poor service that was racially driven? Quite possible.

Very nice people. Willing to help and give good advises to a tourist like me. I try a sword fish with vegetables really good and with a good price. A friend of mine try the clam chowder and was happy as well. Not far from the downtown so is a "return" for me.

Sitting on the patio as we speak with my wife, sister in law, and golden retriever. New to Salem and I can say that I have found my spot. Great service...wonderful drinks and a Patio that you could get lost on for days. The food is fantastic and the vibe is great. If your in Salem, or new to the area make sure you swing by Brodie's. This family run restaurant/bar will make you feel right at home!

Went with friends for dinner on a Friday night in July. The place was not very busy. The wait staff was very friendly but somewhat immature and fairly untrained (a friend asked for a virgin daiquiri and the server was unfamiliar with the term "virgin" in the context of alcohol). The food was not bad (good burgers - yes, we ate burgers at a place with "sea" in the name) and the beer list was fine (can't go wrong with Shipyard). Can't really complain, though we benefited from it being barely busy. Nothing all that special. Maybe the new management is still working the bugs out. Great location by the ferry. Their website is awful, though. Gotta get that fixed.

On a sun-filled Sunday a few weeks back a four-top eagerly headed to Brodie's Seaport for some local fare. There had been some recent local publicity ( Thrillist.com , Salem Food Tours) surrounding the creations flowing out of the kitchen that made me intrigued with my second go-round. We opened with the fried calamari and some refreshing Yuengling draft. The calamari was lightly fried and had a decent mix of rings and tentacles accompanied with sliced jalapeno and marinara. Good start to the afternoon. I proceeded to get the haddock piccata, which was excellent. Had a great balance of lemon and caper that blended well with the perfectly cooked fish that flaked with the brush of my fork. My other mates went the seafood route as well and dove into the grilled salmon, lobster roll, and scallop roll. Everyone commended the food and proceed to go back in for more. We closed this round with the keylime pie, which if there was a surprise in the meal, this was it. We all enjoyed the presentation and really felt that overall the dish was extremely light to close out our late lunch. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for some quality food in the North Shore. Check it out!

Unfortunately, my last trip to Seaport was definitely my last trip, period. In the past year to two years, this place has really gone downhill. They started by taking my favorite lobster roll and decreasing the size and quality, and increasing the price.. and now it's not even on the menu. The service keeps getting worse and worse. Last summer we tried to go a few times, and while the patio was almost empty, they were so understaffed that they wouldn't let you sit down. This was a major turnoff, especially after happening multiple times. Two weeks ago we went on a Sunday afternoon around 2pm. It wasn't busy at all so we were seated on the patio. I ordered the grilled portabella sandwich with onion rings. My 2 girfriends got what was advertised as a "grilled veggie pocket", and my husband got a pizza with sausage and peppers. First of all, we didn't receive our food for 70 minutes after we were sat. It was horrible. And it wasn't busy at all, there was no excuse. When our food finally came, I was horrified at my "grilled portabella". This thing must have been about 2000 calories. It was served on a huge sub roll. The portabella was sliced up and for sure not grilled, it must have been steamed or something. Then, it was DRENCHED in a thick, bottled teriyaki sauce, and then drowned in some sort of honey mustard dressing. I was so grossed out. I picked at the portabella, realized it was awful, and then put it aside and tried the onion rings. I'm a huge onion ring fan, and these were probably the most bland onion rings I've ever tried. The "grilled" veggie pockets had also never seen a grill. The veggies in some cases were raw (squash mostly) or very slightly steamed, on a non-grilled pocket. We asked the waitress why it wasn't grilled, and sent it back. It came back out virtually untouched. We told her it looked steamed and she said something like "yeah, it's probably steamed". Not the same as grilled. Hubby was overall ok with his pizza, though the peppers on the pizza came out chopped with large stems on. I'll be posting pictures of all of our meals soon. We will not be going back, and I don't recommend Seaport Cafe at all anymore. It's really a shame.

After a full day of running errands and doing chores, we decided to go to Brodie's Seaport for dinner. We saddled up to our favorite seats at the bar, ordered drinks, Crispy Fried Jumbo Wings, and a Garden Salad to start. IMHO, I think Brodie's wings are the best around! They are perfectly cooked, meaty, and simply delicous (we order them well done w/ sauce on the side). The salad was fresh, cool, and crisp. For dinner, he had the Steak Frites and I had the freshly caught Gloucester Striped Bass. He said the chargrilled Steak and Steak Fries were excellent! My Striped Bass was fantastic - it was pan seared in a Chardonnay Cream Sauce and served with Mixed Steamed Veggies and Basamati Rice. I opted for Cole Slaw instead of rice but after I saw the Steak Fries I ordered a side (so much for low carb eating ...). I was happy that the Chardonnay Cream Sauce did not overwhelm the fish - it was light, flavorful, and a perfect complement. Because the Key Lime Pie was the dessert of the day and, more importantly homemade, we decided to share one. It was excellent! The staff, Chef, and service at Brodie's are great and they have one of the best locations in town. Good eats, with outdoor or indoor dining, at the gateway to Pickering Wharf - you can't go wrong!

Good service and foods are very tasty. I highly recommend to try tomato and mussels and surf&turf burger.

nice spot to go with friends.. they have a good size patio outside, which makes for a perfect people watching spot. first visit we had nachos and they were delicious! drinks were served fast too.. a little delay during meal with getting check, server ended up getting tied up with a table.... and another server was unable to run credit card for her. another time the nachos weren't good (greasy tortilla chips), but everything else we ordered was so good! salads, sandwiches, drinks. ate at the bar and the two bartenders working were prompt and attentive with drinks. super friendly and amiable too. third time, ate outside.. great server who was training someone, both did a great job.. didn't mind us sitting outside for a few hours and drinking.. eventually ordered lunch and it was good! four stars because of inconsistency... but altogether a good experience!

Not the biggest lobster roll you will get for $21.99. Tuesday's they are $10.99 so that's when you should come here. I don't eat bread, but I tasted it and it was very buttery. Nice full bar and friendly staff. The restaurant was clean and so were the bathrooms. They also have a nice patio area out front.

Food: Terrible steamed mussels (lots of grit and overcooked) and thick, pasty, clam chowder. Would not go back. Service: Who cares. Atmosphere: Diner, tourist trap feel.

This review is for drinks/ entertainment only. Last Friday night my group was eager to mix things up so we walked over to the Seaport Cafe. It was one of those places where everyone had been meaning to stop in but we always ended up somewhere else. We were seated right away at a table on the busy patio. The weather was perfect for it! There was one well behaved dog there on the patio, which made me happy. There is also a huge ariondack chair out front which made a good photo op/ resting spot for the inebriated people there. This place gets 4 stars because our waitress was attentive and quick. The drinks were reasonably priced and tasty. And the music coming from the band inside was really fun. Some people were dancing. It's an older crowd. Like 40s-50s, but there were a few 20s-30s people there too. All in all it was a good night and a pleasant surprise. The bathrooms were SPOTLESS which was really suprising considering most bathrooms at bars on a weekend night. There was also a VERY drunk girl who was stumbling around, grabbing the bums of men who were old enough to be her father. She grabbed one bum and his wife intervened. It added to the ambiance, really. Drinks and a show!

WOW! Tuesday 1/2 price lobster rolls. Very good with large chunks of lobster. Onion rings were great. Our waitress was was attentive and the patrons were friendly. We had a great night eating & drinking!

I have been holding off on reviewing the Seaport because I still haven't eaten here. But I wanted to review their dog-friendly patio and friendly staff. This is a great place to grab a drink outside. They often have live music and dinner/drink specials Mon-Thurs. I love having a drink outside but I'm even happier when I can do so with our dog. The staff brought our pup some fresh water and plenty of treats. Note: They do not have a liquor license. Beer and wine only, but this often keeps large crowds away. When all other patios are full, you can usually find a spot here. Food: TBD. Someday I'll get around to trying it. The menu is small but I've heard good things...

WORST PLACE I'VE EVER BEEN! I used to like it here until this summer. I like(d) to sit on the patio until recently. Every time I come here the service gets worse and worse. I recently stopped by with my husband for some drinks. We sat on the patio and waited for our server for close to twenty minutes before we made the decision to go inside to the bar and get our own drinks. Inside, the bar tender (chubby, blonde girl with an attitude and sequined pants) ignored us also. Again, it took us another fifteen minutes to speak to anyone. Finally, we were acknowledged and we gave our drink orders. In another ten minutes, our drinks finally arrived. Although we ordered simple, common cocktails they tasted disgusting. We took the drinks outside to the patio and (unhappily) drank them (or choked them down). While we sat there, we saw a waitress come out and look around. Although she made eye contact with me and I tried to wave her over, she ignored us. This happened three more times before again, we decided to go over to the bar and get our own drinks. As expected, the bar tender ignored us for as long as she could. The bar was not even busy so she stood talking to a co worker until my husband went over and asked her for two beers. She rolled her eyes and made it seem like we were inconveniencing her. She continued her conversation for a while before she even walked over to the tap. Finally, we paid our tab and started to drink our drinks. While we sat there, we overheard the bar tender complaining about our tip to one of the servers. We gave her a few dollars but we were not happy about the service therefore we did not overtip. I personally was highly offended upon hearing this. I've worked as a waitress since I was a teenager and I am a very good tipper. This being said, I am a fair tipper. 15% is not great but its fair for the service we received. If anything, she should have gotten less. It was so rude and inappropriate of the bar tender to be complaining at all, never mind so clearly in front of us and other customers. Aside from the staff, one of my other concerns is the atmosphere. It seems like a lot of... sketchy (to put it nicely), people hang out around/outside of the patio. I have even witnessed a fight outside! It is uncomfortable and distracting to be around! For this reason, I've always refrained from bringing my children or my parents. Overall this place is unfriendly, unprofessional and not worth it. I will never ever ever be returning. The bartender is rude and lazy and the servers are either oblivious or just plain stupid. The food is sub par and the drinks suck. Good luck to anyone who makes the mistake of going there.

Only had drinks and appetizers at this place (now named Brodie's) but the nachos were a bit overcooked and the calamari was "average." Service was good. The entertainment was lacking and for a Friday night it was dead as a result. What really hurt this place is they need to deal with the grill ventilation. At around 10pm when kitchen closed they used some awful grill cleaner on the hot grills that overwhelmed the whole dining room with a noxious odor. Eyes were burning and smelled awful and we were almost immediately chased out of there from it to the next bar. Need to focus on the details and get the simple things right.

Cute place in a good location. We stopped in for a beer after walking around and could not get the attention of the bartender for at least 10 min. Finally another staff person had to point out that we were waving at the end of the bar. Once we got served it was fine. They have a nice selection on tap including seasonal and local beers.

Great value, my boyfriend got the special, Brodie burger and a draft beer for 10.50, I had the chicken salad wrap. It was very good. The service was fast and friendly and a great spot on the outside to eat and people watch.

I've tried a few of their salads and loved all of them! I am a pretty picky salad girl, and I have to say the pecan crusted chicken is RAD! Most recently i had the strawberry macadamia nut salad with crispy chicken and it was GREAT! I recommend all salad fans give it a shot!

TERRIBLE service. We sat on the patio for 15 minutes after being seated, and none of the waitstaff came to offer water or take orders of any kind, despite all of them having plenty of time to congregate around the hostess stand and talk. We tried making eye contact to no avail. Finally managed to flag down a girl delivering food to the table next to us. When we let her know that nobody had been by our table yet (and can we please have some water?) she told us to take it up with the hostess. We left and wound up around the corner at Finz - a much better choice for both service and ambiance!

High Five for Brodie's. First time we came on a Sunday afternoon during the summer..We only got apps and drinks, service was great, food was good. BUT the best was I was able to sit outside with my 70lb boxer.....they do however have rules which is understandable...Our waitress brought out a water bowl for Otis and sat at a corner table which was even better.... I highly recommend this place. We also talked to the owner and he was very nice. So if your walking around in Salem during the day, they are pet friendly and that is a plus for me.

Love love love! this place was so fun. Our waiter was so friendly. We sat out on the patio and people watched while we ate. we had calimari as an appetizer which was super good. I had a wedge salad that was GIGANTIC, I think it was probably the whole head of lettuce lol. I loved it and would for sure order it again. My son ordered a margarita pizza which was HUGE! The pizza was very tasty. My BFF ordered a burger and fries and she said it was really good as well. They didn't have a kids menu which kind of sucked but it wasn't a deal breaker for me. I would totally go back to this place. The bathroom was kind of small, concidering I had a giant stroller to manuver in there.

From my 3 experiences since this place came under new ownership everything has been 5 stars. My 5 star rating includes FRIED CLAMS (actually I rate these at 6 stars), clam chowder, lobster blt, steak tip salad, and one of the best patios in Salem. Looking for a perfect evening ? Park yourself on the patio of Brodie's, order a bowl of clam chowder for yourself and split (because the portions are too large for 1) an order of fried clams with your date as appetizer. If by the time you are done with that you don't want to order two more orders of fried clams as entrees pick the lobster or steak. Also throw in some unsweetened iced tea.. Perfecto A++

I've been to this place many times since it opened. I really want to like this place more than I do. The good: The staff is always friendly. The beer selection is decent. The food is usually good. The overall feel (outdoor seating) of the place is great. The bad: They seem to always be understaffed or something. It's not uncommon to be put on a waiting list for a table for only 2 or 3 people when there are many empty tables present. For faster service, sit at the bar if possible. Service is generally slow otherwise. The main thing that made want to go to this place regularly was a $10 lobster roll they had that was just killer, especially when paired up with an order of their onion rings. This is no longer on the menu. Now they only have an $18 lobster roll. It's getting harder to justify going here.

We ate here last Friday night and ended up returning again Sat. night. Both times we were seated right away and our food was brought out quickly. The haddock sandwich and the swordfish special were fresh and delicious. The staff was polite and friendly. We will be back!

I go here often for the lobster roll. I think it is the best around. No frills to it, just lobster on a buttered roll, with a small side. You can also get the famous roll, which is served on a hamburger bun and two sides... but I usually just stick with the regular portion. Some of the other items on the menu are okay - but I am always disappointed if I don't go with the lobster roll.

Can't give it a 3, but 4 may be a bit too high. That being said, this place is great. Recently purchased by the owner of Brodie's in Peabody, apparently some menu favorites from Brodie's have come over. I had the chicken teriyaki pocket, the ladyfriend had what I believe was the Cape Cod wrap. We split the sandwiches and both were pretty awesome. Chicken Teriyaki wrap lived up to the billing, everything tasted fresh and was full of flavor. The cranberry mayo on the Cape Cod wrap was excellent. Both sandwiches were prepared well and didn't fall apart near the end. You'd think that wasn't a big deal, but a lot of places can't get that right. Someone in the kitchen gives a damn about the little details and that goes a long way. With our sandwiches we split a garden salad with balsamic dressing, which was way different than any balsamic I've had...in a great way. The salad was big for a side salad and full of good mixed greens. The ladyfriend got a side of baked beans with her sammich and I have to say, I could have gone there for those alone, this wasn't just a can of Bush's. Highly recommended side for your sammich, if that's an option. The $2.50 PBR pounder did me just fine, didn't check out the rest of the menu. We were on the dog friendly patio and the service, while slow from the kitchen, was just fine because the hosting station and our waitress were extremely attentive. All in all, an underrated place in Salem that I hope to see get more love. Not at expensive and hoity-toity as other places on the Wharf and definitely not a bro-fest like eateries downtown. Looking forward to going back again. - Uncle Juggs

First off, I love the chairs at this place. Very comfy. And the bathrooms are clean and not gross and cramped like a lot of places. We were there on Halloween weekend, which could have been a nightmare. On the contrary. We were there for quite a long time because it was freezing outside, so I just stayed there. The lobster wantons rocked, very tasty, maybe a little pricey for 5 wantons, but it is stuffed with lobster. The clam chowder went down smooth. After we were there a couple hours, we got burgers and fries. DELICIOUS, perfectly cooked, and the fries tasted great even when we left them sitting too long and they got cold. The fries are very crispy, coated with something. The staff was remarkable. It was very busy, but everyone was friendly. Other servers came up and asked if everything was ok, because our server had been very busy. They have each others' backs. We saw the owner, who appeared very personable, and concerned that things were running smoothly. We never met him before, so it was nice to see him take an active role. The place is very clean with an open kitchen design, so they have nothing to hide.

I would have gone for 3.5 stars, but alas, not an option. So great place for seafood. I find this place pretty casual, service was good. The menu is a bit limited, they carry alot of options in their specials, but I was kinda in an appetizer mood, to which their were few. My partner for the evening doesn't like fried food (I know, just horrible, haha) limiting our sharing options to less. However this 'forced' us to have the seafood and portobello in white wine garlic sauce. DELISH. That would be something to get again when it gets nice out and you can sit outside and throw back a few. All in all, worth coming back for some casual seafood, no fuss, no wait.

Background: I am originally from the Boston area and back in the region for tourism. You can tell an awful lot about a restaurant if the locals eat there, and there were quite a number of them here, so I was already looking forward to it. My wife and I both had a great experience at this restaurant. We were seated promptly and treated exceptionally well by our server, Janice, who was very pleasant and attentive. I had the fisherman's platter and it was fantastic. The food wasn't greasy at all and the batter was nice and light. Portion size was good as well. Their chowder was also above average. My wife had her first lobster roll ever--as ashamed as I am to say it, it was my first one as well despite being from the area!--and it was downright spectacular. I'd go back in a heartbeat. Prices were comparable if not better than other restaurants on Pickering Wharf in Salem, and the service was top-notch. I think what I liked most was that this restaurant didn't try to be something it wasn't.

Not bad. Stopped here for dinner one evening and sat outside. They weren't super busy, and as such, the service was much slower than it should have been. Took an awfully long time for anybody to come take a drink order. We had a toddler with us, and the slow service was thus a problem. I really just wanted some crackers or a roll for him. Wasn't happening. Food itself was pretty decent. French fries were very good. Sandwiches were good. Chicken fingers were standard. This place has a very happening Saturday afternoon patio vibe during nice weather.

Its a great place to sit outside and enjoy lunch. Their service was good and their turkey sandwich on a pretzel role is highly recommended! Who doesn't love eating a sandwich on a fresh pretzel? The place can get a little crowded on nights when they have live bands. I'd recommend staying away from it on one of these nights if you're looking for a relaxing time.

We did not even get in the door good and already felt unwelcome! One waitress speaking to the Manager, "when I got here at 11 we already had a line at the door.." - Manager's reply .."we don't open till noon - you should've told them to go away!" - really dude? We sat at the bar for nearly 10 mins and not a single person including the manager said "hi" Not worth the time - apparently they don't care either.

I went here for lunch with a friend. the service was great and the food was good. Had I known about their lobster rolls I'd have gone for one, instead I got a chicken parm sandwich that was so large i had to eat it with a fork. The toasted ciabatta bread was worth every calorie. the fries are battered, which I love but I know isn't for everyone. The price was not bad, for 2 people it totaled around $20. Certainly not the cheapest sandwich, fries and soda I've ever had but not the most expensive. All in all a good solid lunch spot.

I work from home with my own business. Although I do love to cook, I prefer to eat out three times a day to give myself a break from my home. I must say I've been eating this way for several years and have frequented most if not all restaurants in Salem. I must say Brodie's Seaport has to be one of my favorites if not my most favorite! Since it opened I have referred friends and family there several times and they all fell in love with Brodie's! The staff is efficient and very friendly and the owner's family all work there. I'm not going into detail on their entire menu...It's has a little bit of everything from Steak Tips to Fish to Pasta and I or anyone I've known that has been there have never had a complaint! I can only say if you are looking for great food and drink don't miss out! Parking next door is 25 cents an hour in the garage 24/7. You won't be disappointed!. :-) ps nice drinks and beer selections as well as music at night!

Went here for lunch today. Food was unmemorable, kitchen was slow, and charging $2 per soda refill (without notification on the menu!) is unacceptable. According to waitstaff, several customers have complained, but the owner evidently thinks this is good business practice. I won't be returning or recommending friends here.

  • Christina A.

This place is a disappointment. You always see people outside at night laughing with music playing from the inside and you think, "this place looks fun/good lets eat here!" But then you take a seat and order sour, acidic sangria and bland over cooked haddock and you soon regret your decision. Also the hostess almost didn't let us sit outside on the patio once because we were just ordering drinks. The outside patio was like dead and it was 9:30 at night....

Two of us dined here recently on oa Saturday evening and enjoyed the whole experience very much. The new owners have improved the ambiance and the food is consistently very good. I would rate another star though, if the our server had known how to "serve" the wine. The wine was very good though, and I have sought that particular wine out in the local pacakge stores with great success. All in all an overall positive experience.

It was our first time at Brodie's and we only had hamburgers and onion rings but we left full & satisfied with a delicious meal. Loved the pickles too. Server was very nice and helpful. Place was casual but clean. The prices were a little on the "high" side but we'll go back to try out something else another time.

I reasonably brief review here. My family and I went a few days ago and we were pleasantly surprised. The interior is nice, the food was very good, the prices were reasonable. The only thing that bothered me during my visit was every so often the 'manager consultant' would grab my drink and put it back on my napkin for me...

I've been to the Seaport TWICE and both times they were out of practically EVERYTHING on the menu. They didn't even have COFFEE. I kid not. Also, the band was waaaaay too loud for the space. The atmosphere is definitely a restaurant and not a nightclub. Nevertheless, our dinner party couldn't even communicate due to the volume. We complained but they didn't do anything about it. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

The boyfriend and I were roaming Salem, enjoying the cooler weather, and were happy to see a new restaurant. Of course, we had to give it a try! I've read the other reviews, and those that discuss the slow service are right- it was incredibly slow. Our waiter was very nice, but he seemed overwhelmed and never checked on us once our food came. He even delivered the bill and never returned to pick it up so we had to go inside and pay. I did see a man, possibly the owner, walking around the tables and asking people (us included) how they liked their meal, and just generally chatting so that was a nice thing to see. The food was fine. I felt the prices were a little bit high, but I did like the myriad side dish options. It's not often you can pick two and get two starches. That's another odd thing- there was 1 vegetable offered, and it looks to be a permanent side (asparagus). Where was the veggie of the day? I know they're new so I'm really giving them the benefit of the doubt, but their menu was pretty limited compared to other places in the area. The outdoor seating is great. You can sit under umbrellas so you don't bake in the sun, and it's so nice to sit by the water (well, sort of near the water) and people watch. The seating inside the restaurant looked nice too. Maybe next time, we'll try inside so I can really compare. I would go back to the Seaport Cafe, and it was a nice enough experience. However, they really need to have faster service. The meal wait time was extremely long, and as I said, our waiter only checked on us when delivering the food and then the check. That service won't cut it in the long run as tourists in Salem, and regulars, tend to be picky about that sort of stuff. I wish them luck though, and did see a couple of meals that I would like to try. If you're passing by, definitely take a gander. Their desserts (inside at the register) looked awesome too.

My family visits Salem just about every month. We eat at all the local establishments. We visited the Seaport Cafe this past weekend. We frequented the "Derby" when it was located at the same place. It closed and the Seaport took over the corner. We stopped during our Saturday afternoon walk around town. We were NOT disappointed! The restaurant was completely done over and it was beautiful. The bar area looked great! We chose to sit outside in the terrace. The service was outstanding and friendly. We ordered the Fisher mans Platter and the Baked Haddock. The portions were huge and the Haddock dinner was the best I have ever eaten. My son Jack (five years old) said it was the "best grilled cheese" he ever had. And he should know. I highly recommend the Seaport Cafe...you will not be sorry...

I stopped in one rainy night in late October of 2010 while I was visiting Salem for Halloween! (which I recommend everyone do at least once in their lives). My reason for stopping was to get a cup of hot apple cider to keep me warm. It was served in a cup large enough to be a soup bowl, which was wonderful. I might have ordered food, but their menu was too difficult to decipher, and since I wasn't able to crack the code, I went to Essex Pizza at the Museum Place Mall just down the street. Cider was good. Menu shouldn't need decoding. Coffee house seating. Small unclean bathroom.

My friend and I were visiting Salem for the day and we were looking for a place near Derby Warf for dinner. I was so hungry. So we ordered appetizers - fried clam bellies. Yum! They were so delicious. I've had clams at Kelly's in Revere, and at Woodman's in Essex but I was unimpressed. Here their clam bellies were so good. I figured they do seafood really well so I sprang for the bakes halibut $20. It was melt in you mouth delicious. It was cooked to perfection with a nice crunchy crust and served with lemon and two sides. Even the sides were good. The spring vegetables were not over cooked like they usually are in other places. It tasted fresh and was cooked just enough to be tender. The rice pilaf was nicely flavored as well. There isn't much to say about pilaf. Most seafood restaurants don't do it right. It's usually under done or bland. But this pilaf was nicely and delicious. I was very happy with my dish. My friend ordered a burger and onion rings. But he got a burger and fries. The waitress corrected her mistake and also brought him onion rings without charging us for the fries. That was really nice of her. But I will say our service was a bit weird. We had one waitress who was not very helpful, but I suppose it was the end of her shift. I asked for some bread or something and she was like "no we don't have that." I had to beg her for some crackers or something. She finally got me some oyster crackers that she practically threw at me. So much for service... But after we got our appetizers we got another waitress. The 2nd waitress was really nice and friendly. Over all I would give service here about 3 stars and the food 5 stars. But for the price it was a good place to stop by for dinner.

Terrible service, our beer came out 20mins after she took our drink order, food took another 40mins. The lamb tips came out cold and super well done even though I'd asked for medium rare. They charged me for a salad substitute even though they never told me there was a charge, and once the food came out no one even came back to check on us or the food. It's a good thing they've got tourists to prey on. There are better places to eat in Salem.

I'd say they people who posted 5 stars are either friends of the owner, staff or have a very limited experience with good food. If it wasn't for our incredibly sweet waitress and a great glass of wine, I'd say this place is a total waste of time. Instead I'll be polite and say grab a beer or wine and pass on the food. I might be a bit of a foodie but I'm no snob by far. As long as the food is good and the place is clean, I can eat anywhere. In fact the night before I had way better food while camping, which we cooked in the dark over the camp fire. We ordered a burger (usually a safe bet) and a fried scallop dish. The burger was way over cooked (when I ask for medium rare, I don't expect burnt hockey puck), the bread was rubbery and dunked in butter (news flash cooks putting butter on everything doesnt make it better), the potatoe salad was undercooked and covered in a watery mayo, it didnt have any flavor even after a unhealthy does of salt. The scallops were mushy and slightly bitter. If you expect so-so pub food you'll be delighted but if you want a good meal, I'd skip the place. Walking around the block we went past "62", which was highly rated on yelp but a litle pricy, the food looked fantastic and it made me wish I hadn't gone the cheap route. Lesson learned.

I love the Chicken Broccoli Zitti here.. actually I am going to go get some right now... it is to die for and the garlic bread is great. they are very willing to work with you on any order and they are very friendly. The owner of the restaurant is on site almost every night so you know he wants to succeed. They have lots of live music and the sunday jazz is insanely good. The wait staff has gotten much better and they are very attentive to the patrons. If you are coming to Salem and want good food with a great atmosphere and reasonable prices. This is the place! I hope they make it.... because it is such a great location and could be a great place if they really want it to be!

Oh. No. Ever since this place became "Brodie's" it's taken a turn for the worse. I hope that going here for music and drinks continues to draw people in, but the last two times I stopped in for dinner, it was a nightmare. A month or so ago, I purchased a Groupon to try out the new Brodie's. I downloaded it and hubby and I went to eat there. The food was mediocre, and I can't even remember what we had, but it was not horrible enough warrant a change in my Yelp review. HowEVER, the manager would not honor the Groupon. Now, we're a little tiny bit cranky because the food was not so great, but on top of that the guy doesn't accept the Groupon. His story was that Groupon never "came in" to show him how to redeem them. Well, Mr. Manager, you write down the voucher number and contact Groupon on your own time to resolve it. It's not my problem. But my husband and I decided to let it go, and that stuck us with going to Brodie's again to redeem this Groupon on another visit. Well, I like to give a place a second chance anyway, especially a place in my beloved Salem, so last night I went in with my 13 year old son and his friend. This trip I do remember well. I ordered the veggie burger, and Yelpers, I wish I'd taken a picture. BUT I could take a picture of the inside of my garbage disposal and you'd get the idea. I have never seen such a sorry excuse for a veggie burger in my life! I could not eat it. It looked like a pile of refuse, and it tasted disgusting! Parked next to that mess were cold onion rings. My son's hamburger was all "tattered" around the edges, if you can picture that (this review REALLY needs accompanying gross/hilarious photos, but I'm sure you can use your imagination) and was generally ugly and undercooked. My son's friend's fries did not come out until a few minutes after everyone was served. Odd. But they put a few "token" fries on his plate, and the waitress explained that the rest of them were coming soon. What the heck was that all about? So, we get some samples from the bottom of the fry-o-lator to tide us over until the real fries come out? This is one of those crazy times when I don't know whether to laugh or run away screaming. So, I spoke with the waitress about the scary excuse of a veggie burger and she was very nice about it. OK, here comes the bill. Yay for the fact that they actually honored my Groupon. BOO for the fact that the veggie debacle was still on the bill. Well, you're going to think I'm a pushover, but if they'd taken it off it would have been an act of goodwill, and frankly, I don't want any goodwill from Brodie's. They SHOULD have taken that thing off my bill considering I hardly touched it and very politely and even compassionately whispered to the waitress about it. (the boys ate the cold onion rings, so I could hardly take an issue with that part of my plate) I should not have had to ask. Ah, well, Brodie's never again. You have a fun patio, but there are other outdoor seating options in this fair city.

We had a very good meal here on a recent weeknight. We liked the menu choices and prices immediately. There are many sandwich options to choose from, which include sides of salads or veggies or starches, and most are about $6.95. Examples are: chicken parm, grilled chicken, sirloin burger, steak tip burger, etc. Fried plates are about $14.00 and include 2 sides. Lobster rolls come in 2 sizes, regular for $10, and FAMOUS (can't recall the price). I had the fried scallop plate ($14) which comes with a choice of 2 sides. The plate was huge, the scallops large, tender, perfectly cooked, and very lightly battered. The squash medley side was also very good, not the usual watery and tasteless mess that restaurants often offer. My partner had the salmon sandwich, with an enormous side of potato salad. He said the salmon was noticeably fresh and flavorful. We found the food to be excellent quality, the portions generous, and the prices great. It's the best value on the Derby Street/Pickering Wharf area. That said, service was quite slow, so don't go there if you're in a hurry. The people-watching was interesting, and provided some entertainment while we sat outside and waited for our meals. They don't seem to have any host staff, so you just sort of walk up and wait until someone sees you and seats you. The decor is an interesting mix of elegant chairs and eclectic booths inside, and non-matching table sets outside. I don't care what it looks like; we will return, for fresh, well-prepared seafood in a casual atmosphere, at great prices! p.s. dogs are welcome in the outside patio area.

Went here this past weekend with the hubby for our usual saturday night date night. We were two of the only people here besides two people at the bar who left shortly after we arrived. It was a little after 5pm on a saturday- so we were there kind of early.... With that said we were told we could sit anywhere. They had plenty of seating. Some booths and some table and chairs. I liked the decor. Bathroom was clean. Menu was decent- good selection of items. I thought it was kind of "tacky" that some items were crossed off the menu in sharpie and they were out of the main veggie- Asparagus...Odd for a saturday at 5pm. They were also out of the soup of the day but just had finished French Onion Soup. So I guess they did have a soup of the day? I got the special of the day- lobster ravioli in a butternut squash sauce. Sauce was good. Lobster ravioli was good. The two together not so much. But I ate it all :-) My husband got steak tips and a seasonal veggie (it was squash which he is not a fan of- although he didn't ask what it was the waiter also didn't say what it was to see if he still wanted it as one of his two side choices) and he also got Onion rings.....he liked his meal as well. Overall I would go back- I may give it a little while but I would go back for sure. Maybe when the weather is nice again in the spring and I can sit outside.

Brought a group to eat here for lunch. We read the rave reviews about the Lobster Roll and we all got some variation of this. The Lobster Roll is definitely one of the best on the North Shore - I mean seriously on the top 3 of contenders. I ordered a salad with lobster on top (which wasn't on the menu but they happily obliged). Salad was good, good varieties of lettuce, toast points would have been a good addition. Everyone in our party got the lobster roll and was happy with it - they have a variety of sides like grilled asparagus, potato salad, pasta salad etc. Sitting outside was nice. Good people watching. Staff was friendly. I like this guy's story - he had a career change and decided to open a restaurant, and the food is GREAT! Looks nice inside - they have a full bar, cool modern style inside. We split chocolate cake at the end - moist, good. Service is prompt and good.

I live nearby and have been here a few times. The first couple of times it was NOT good, but I thought maybe it was because they just opened. We decided to give it another shot last night..... We will never go back, the food is so bad and the service is slow. If you are in the area and want seafood, go to Finz, at least it's edible! The location is great and I think it's better for drinks!

I've decided to upgrade to 4 stars. I do really like this place. They now have specials each night. I got the 1/2 pesto chicken with corn on the cob this week. The chicken was really good, and a huge portion. The corn was super fresh and crispy. Yum. Free refills on iced tea even though they dont have it on the menu. Score. The owner also contaced me after my first review, which I thought was really nice. I saw him giving out free ice cream to a large party of diners, also a nice touch.

This is my 2nd review. I gave this place 3 stars when they first opened as they seemed promising, now I take them all back. This place has really regressed and is now AWFUL! Hot blacktop front yard with tables that slant, a clueless waitstaff and obnoxious heavy metal music blasting. The food that used to be good is now terrible-deep fried until burnt. i think they are trying to attract the bikers who pass by on their way to the willows. STAY AWAY!

Really like this place especially since it became Brodie's. decent food good selection of beer and wine and it seems like they have live music most nights of the week. Good service and nice staff. Comfortable ambiance and nice patio. Can't wait for summer!

I like this place. Good food, nice outdoor seating. The chowder is good. The sandwiches are good. The chicken parm. was alright, the pasta was not very good, and the sauce was "meh". But don't let that fool you, the staff is really nice, the owner is very attentive and working to solve any issue you may have. I'm definitely coming back all summer long

Was looking for a decent place in Salen that served seafood for my mom's visit. Was not disappointed. Solid 3 stars, if not better. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Serving portions were large, a great value for the price. Would definitely go back again!

The newest eatery jewel of Salem. Great food, good prices, super friendly and helpful staff. Our two dogs were allowed to join us at outside seating, and the dogs were treated as well as we were. We had everything seafood and it was all good - lobster quesadilla, fisherman's platter, and good desserts too. This is a terrific place to get a good meal, quickly and with an attentive staff, at an affordable price - we'll be regulars for sure. This place really takes casual dining up a notch.

I've been here twice -- once for lunch, once for breakfast. I sat outside for lunch and it was crowded. Service was incredibly slow and our server never checked back in to see how things were. I had breakfast inside and they weren't very busy and service wasn't as slow. Both times the food was mediocre. Nothing was inedible, but nothing was delicious. The coffee was terrible. I don't think I'll be back, especially with so many better places nearby.
