NYAJ is a nice upscale neighborhood spot. The wait staff is professional and responsive, the food is tasty, and the furnishings are well-done, perhaps even a cut above the overall quality of the place. I've enjoyed every meal here thus far. It is a bit pricey for the area, but not so much that it sticks out. Still, look to spend $80-$100 for a dinner for 2.

I'm not one to ever write a bad review but I couldn't help this one.. Server was nice enough but super slow and forgetful, apps and entrees came out at exact same time everything over-cooked and orders wrong. Asked for ketchup and water, she never came back. The food was atrocious.. Keep on searching people!

This gets 3 stars because the food is far above average, but the service is not good at all. Sorry this is a long one... The first time that I dined in this establishment for my birthday dinner in July, the experience was great and the food was amazing. I ordered the Balsamic Salmon and everything from the presentation to the crisp blackening on the fish was perfect. My brother had a steak tip dinner and the clam chowdah as an appetizer, which was delicious as well. I can't quite remember our wait staff's name, but she was pleasant as well. Since my first experience at NYAJ was so amazing, I couldn't stop telling my friends and decided to bring my little sister there for dinner on Tuesday. We were seated at a table without place settings and rushed to order. I had to ask for appetizer plates and napkins for the bread, cheese and EVOO. Our server Christine (I think) seemed rushed and told me that they were getting ready to close when I inquired about her behavior and then brought us the check before we even finished our plates. My sister really wanted dessert, so it was a bit pretentious to think we were finished. She also bad talked the her boss and unnecessarily cursed in front of my sister and I. She seemed like a nice girl, but she was either new or just very unprofessional. I thought it was inapropriate to seat people when you cannot offer exceptional service because you want to leave. I spoke with the manager and was offered a $15 gift card. My sister and I returned today to get the dessert that she wanted because I figured that the previous day was just a fluke, but when I got home and checked my bank account and saw that I was charged twice with two different amounts and that my receipt said that my gift card was redeemed as well. The amount that was taken from me totaled more than the two desserts and coffee I bought. I spoke with Dave the manager and he said that was aware of Holly's mistake and he thought that the problem was already fixed before I left the restaurant. Hopefully he fixed it for real this time. Unfortunately I don't think that I will be returning to this location, which is sad because I love the food, but it's not worth the service. Better training is needed.

A little frustrated with this chain restaurant. The last Not Your Average Joe's my husband and I went to was Needham so we wanted to try another one-this time Randolph. Our food took FOREVER, but it was nice to have the manager bring over our meals and explain that it was rung in wrong. We each had a dessert and asked for the check. My Husbands salad, which apparently was the cause of the delay, was $19.99. It seemed a little steep for a simple Cobb Salad and it was different then the price on the menu. Our server, Kaitlynn, told us that was correct. I am a little upset that the correct menu prices are not listed online or in the Restaurant. Either way this is my second strike and I don't know if I am going to be back to experience a third.

I'm a fan of this Not Your Average Joe's location. The food is tasty & service is always good. If you can make a reservation before you go, it's well worth it. The line for those without reservations can be over an hour for dinner. I like the seasonal menu changes for the specials. For desert, I can't resist the "Peanut Butter Thing". I also recommend joining their e-mail club, because you'll be sent a coupon for a free entree and desert on your birthday.

This location gets extra credit for being familiar and friendly. We went for a birthday, and had Mario as a server. The wait staff is incredibly friendly and the service is great! Holly and Mario really made an impression :) The food was as expected from Not Your Average Joe's. We ordered the chicken dumplings which were good even though they were falling apart. The mustard chicken was good, but the special was warm at best. The only really issue was the dessert. Since it was for a birthday for the mom of someone that works there we would have liked the birthday dessert to be on point. Unfortunately the chocolate was cheap and it separated. The caramel was burned and inedible. The raspberry mojitos were amazing! Overall good experience.

Went to Not Your Average Joe's this weekend with all the gift cards we got for Christmas/Hanukkah. I ordered the Pulled Pork Pretzel Bites (an appetizer), and was very pleased. A bit messy to eat, it came with 4 or 5 "bites". Each was like a bruschetta. A piece of pretzel bread topped with pulled pork, slaw, crispy onions and some green stuff (sprouts? Watercress?). It was delicious, and the perfect portion. I also ordered an Applesauced drink, which had bourbon, apple cider, vodka, lemon juice, and an apple slice topped with cinnamon sugar. It was absolutely delicious. My boyfriend ordered his favorite, the buffalo chicken pizza (it is fantastic). He was also excited to see Sam Adam's Rebel IPA on tap. For dessert I ordered the molten chocolate cake. It was beautifully plated and came out hot. It's served with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream placed on Oreo crunches. I could barely finish it, I was so full from dinner. One thing I did notice was that the couples on either side of us both had mess ups on their order, and the dishes had to be re-made. That's totally frustrating for both diners and waiters (it seemed to be the kitchen's mix up, not the waiter's). No fun!

Really not much to say. Servers were 4 stars, food was average and ambiance is that of a chain restaurant.

The dinner here was, as always, delicious. Our waiter, Mario, was friendly and attentive. Happy birthday to me...thank you Joe. Glad to see the occasional changes and return of past fabulous dishes. The scallops were the best! Followed by lemon tirimis...wow!

I'm a pretty big fan of NYAJ. If only this location wasn't super packed with a one hour wait EVERY time we want to go there, it would be much more of a go-to. Regardless, we are frequent diners at this location. I love the bread with yummy dipping oil, and my recent discovery is their amazing pizzas (try the buffalo, you will NOT be disappointed). The other dishes I have tried, including salads, sandwiches and seafood, have also always been very flavorful, creative and fresh. Service is also always fast and friendly. Prices are a bit high for a local chain like it is, but the food is good so it's worth it to me. Just be forewarned at how busy this place gets... Helpful hint: check Open Table for reservations before you go, or wait for a bar seat.

overall score: 3.5 stars free scali bread and dipping oil: 4.5 stars it is to die for. entree, meat loaf: 3 stars grandma said it was very plain, just burger. entree, jambalaya, 4 stars that was what i ordered. it could have been a little bigger, but it was spicy, quite good. service, 5 stars server cody was flawless and attentive. she wanted us to do some survey on a glued phone; homey don't play that. i review here. she did an excellent job. yelp should allow fractional scores as the averages report that way anyway !

Great service and the bread is so good! They take their service seriously here and have you do a survey when you set your check. I have always had great service. They do a goat cheese salad that is really good. I tried the flatbread last time and was surprised at how oily it was. Since it's brick oven I expected it to be better. Would absolutely go back!

This location of Not Your Average Joe's usually has interesting new meals and delicious food. The only thing I usually have a problem with is the high prices. For a chain restaurant and the quality of the food, it's a bit pricey. I usually save it for special occasions. But I am really disappointed tright now. My friend got her birthday reward last month, and as usual, it was a free entree and dessert. This month was my birthday. I had been planning to go out with my husband and friends and make a big celebration of it, like last year. But I never got the coupon. I filled out the questionnaire on the website and was sent a replacement coupon - for $15 off. Did they think I was trying to scam them out of a second free meal? I definitely never got my original coupon. Am I being punished for it? My friend definitely got the normal free entree and dessert last month!

Ordered a veggie burger last time and the server told me it would be completely vegan and the fries were not cooked in oil with other animal products. Came back and was told the veggie burger has egg whites and the fries are cooked with the shrimp. That would be not vegan? Extremely disappointing/not acceptable

We come here once a year. It's always consistent when it comes to the service, food, and atmosphere. Pizza is tailored to your liking so don't worry about ordering off the menu. Also the crème brûlée is delicious and the sugar cracks. Yumm.

Had a lovely dinner this evening at Not Your Average Joe's, served by Mario, my favorite waitperson. I started with the bread and dip, a real favorite. This evening I chose the scallops for my main course. Nice big, sweet, beautifully cooked scallops. Excellent - and filling enough that I had no room for that Peanut Butter Thing I like so much!

Yes, Not Your Average Joes is a small chain of restaurants with a consistent and predictable menu but out most recent visit proved to make our experience at the Randolph location extraordinary. Our server Heather, with her bright smile and positive energy immediately made us feel special. She was so sincere with her complements and menu suggestions we knew we would be taken we care of. My wife wanted some item substitutions in her salad and Heather had no hesitations saying she could make it happen with the kitchen staff. I asked for a different ingredient in a cocktail and again she followed through. We do not frequent NYAJ very often since it is somewhat out of our way but next time we will put NYAJ on our radar and make the extra effort. We will also tell our friends to visit and seek out the section where Heather is working since we can guarantee they will be taken care of professionally. BYW we did see many other servers working the restaurant tonight and more than one serving a birthday party of more than 15 guests. All with smiles and happy to come over and sing Happy Birthday when the time came. Management is doing a great job in Randolph.

Chose the chicken wontons as an appetizer. Unique savory sauce. Not the average Chinese restaurant crap. Enjoyed the haddock which was pan fried, not deep fried. Service was excellent and food was served quickly. The fresh baked bread was a real treat compared to the commercial bricks you find at some restaurants.

Slipping even more! Ordered a double side of spinach with my meal (instead of two different sides). So salty to be nearly inedible. Did not complain about salinity, but asked server if amount was a double side. He said it looked skimpy and brought another... sorry it was just as salty. By this time I'd finished the fish and didn't want to make an issue of the salinity. We like NYAJ's, but will stick to the one in Norwell... much better in service, noise level, and quality of food.

5 months ago I left a review about this place. Manager called me and kind of made a few excuses however asked for my information to send me a gift card for the cost of my last meal and asked if I would come in and try again. 5 months later no gift card.

This restaraunt is always good when my wife and I visit. . I can honestly say on all of our visits there have always been met with very friendly staff and very good food. . However aside from that dining experience. They rate very poorly on Curb side service for take out! I've waited for over 20 minutes in the past, I strongly suggest that you run in and get your food from the bar. ..

I ate here last night. It was an hour wait so we sat at the bar. Bread was great burger was really good. Bar tender who served us was very busy and it seemed two employees just sat there and did nothing but talk. They should have assisted him. As far as food and drinks they were good but I don't think I will return. One employee was wrapping the napkins and silverware. She wore protective gloves however she answered the phone, proceeded to take the glove off then once she hung up she put the old glove back in then continued wrapping the silverware. She then Proceeded to take cash from someone with the gloves on, ring them out then went back to wrapping the silverware. Was she protecting her hands from germs? She was simply infecting everyone's silverware.

NYAJ has become a go-to spot for us, We love the salmon salads and the 3-6 half-priced appetizers on the bar-side (great value!) during the week. We met the mixologist recently who gave us some tips on making a great sangria, which they do a pretty nice job of doing. Beer taps change pretty frequently and it's fun to explore the wares. We've found service to be great but food can be a bit inconsistent between (according to the servers when we ask why the food looks different). They also try to use a lot of locally grown/produced foods which is awesome and have added gluten-free options. There's even discount movie tickets as well and a game day deal take-out or eat in. So why the 4-stars? There's a lack of vegetarian and pescatarian options (though it has been improving) and when they do offer it we race in to try it, such as oyster Mondays and the Mahi Mahi of last year. We'd love to try a pairing dinner but there's not an exchange for the meat dishes. Even right now, they are running a special Cranberry -teriyaki chicken with butternut squash cannelloni and the vegetarian option is sans chicken (no salmon or anything) and only $1.49 less for them to take the chicken off. Hey Joe, what gives?? Still, I plan to come in for my birthday this weekend and check out the Fall menu. I'll keep you posted...

Menu link from Yelp not current. We wanted to order for takeout. Both my order and my wife's order are no longer available. Ordered from the website and had a choice of walking into pick up a takeout order or going through the drive-through. When I arrived at the restaurant there is no drive-through. There is curbside service. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad but substituted steak for the chicken and paid five dollars extra. The chicken salad I picked up had no protein on it at all.

Really fun place! Great atmosphere and good food. Our server Erin, was a thoroughly pleasant young lady, who was very patient with my three boys. One small pizza was big enough to feed my 7 & 9 yr old boys. My wife and I split the Nantucket Chop Salad. Oh, and the bread and Italian butter is wicked good.

  • Mike J.

First, the waitress got my beer order wrong. Ok, that could be forgiven, "tall" and "small" do sound similar. Then, I ordered the chicken cannellini and it was pretty bland. One of my two pieces of chicken was also over cooked. It tasted dry and the bottom was so blackened I couldn't cut through it. My wife ordered the chicken enchiladas, which she said was good but ended up making a trip to the bathroom sink in the middle of the night. She is 6 months pregnant so it may not have been the food, but it's been a long time since she had morning sickness...

I LOVE NYAJ's this is the best location I've been to. Their food is great. I almost always prefer eating here than any other local Resturaunt! BTW the seasonal sangria is delicious. Holy Moly! With one exception, every time we go the waitstaff is friendly and attentive. Keep up the good work!

Valentine's night. We were quickly seated...waitress was quick to get to us... Drinks were great (pineapple pain killers). Appetizer... Ordered but wrong one brought out... Dinner brought out: steaks. Both me and my other half thought BLAND as could be. We realize that this isn't Mortons but it was had less taste than a steak at the 99. After complaining, we were offered other meals but we had a movie to catch.. So, the manager only charged us for the drinks AND gave us $25 gift certificate. While I think this is a great gesture.. We have dined here several times and been disappointed. As a Randolph resident, I want to like Not Your Average Joes but it has come up short to many times. We are giving 3 stars because of the managers effort to fix this for us.

NYAJ is quickly becoming my new favorite dining hot spot. They have a fantastic menu with plenty of options for all palates. Last night I enjoyed the Ahi Tuna Salad and it was delicious! The tuna was perfectly seared and the entire dish had just the right mix of spice, citrus and crunchiness. Kudos to the Chef!

    (4)
  • Mark M.

Meh. Only gets 3 stars since our server was great. It was our first visit and right away we see nothing on the menu that we recognize. Steak tips were $18 or something crazy like that. We settle on burgers. They came out burnt on the outside and rare inside (we ordered medium) the bread was good though and so were the fries, but I don't pay $10 for a crappy burger when there is a mcdonalds close by. Won't be back.

So after having a poor first experience here, the manager got in touch with me in an attempt to rectify the situation. He apologized, and afforded us the opportunity to come back and give the restaurant a second chance. All I can say is wow. What a difference. It was like night and day. We ended up having the same waitress (who wasn't very friendly the first time), and she was great! She was friendly, upbeat, and very helpful. The restaurant was busy and buzzing, and it was a great atmosphere. And the food was excellent! It is very comforting to know that the manager is so involved in the day-to-day operations, and actually listens to the customers. A very notable improvement the second time around. It was a great experience overall, and that's why I'm giving 4 stars. It wasn't perfect, so not 5 stars yet, but I will be back soon and hopefully that will change.

Update: I am much more appreciative of this place than I am of other localized chains. My previous review sounds like I was begging for a sloppy joe and mashed potato dinner. But every time I go here, it's better every time. New dishes to keep things fresh. Pairings to better the flavors of meals. And at a decent price! I remember that I keep ordering the Black Angus Meatloaf or whatever is under the Joe's Usual section of the menu. This past time I ordered a macaroni and cheese, but it was very creative and not just plopped with chicken or bacon. It has a spicier cheese and actual flavor. My mom ordered a Mexican dish, and it was the perfect spice for her since she can't have spicy foods. And of course, the bread and olive oil dip is probably the best thing going for them

Went here for lunch as part of a birthday trip to IKEA. If you exclude the server who spoke at 1000 words per minute and was less than attentive, the food was fabulous. As others have said, warm fresh bread to be dipped in cheese/olive oil combination was a great way to start. We both had the 1/2 sandwich and soup/salad combo. The dressing on the Caesar salad was untraditional but enjoyed by someone who likes lemon. The tomato soup was thick and delicious, sandwiches were both good (turkey blt and chicken) Will be our go to spot when we drive down from Maine again. Much better than the Swedish meatballs at IKEA.

The name really does say it all. The only better name just might be The Above Average Joes... Once again I took my wife and son out to a place that we all can agree on and that we know never disappoints, "Not Your Average Joes in Randolph". My son is a very picky eater and he had the Kids Classic Cheese Pizza, let's just say there were no left over crust ends for mom and dad to eat, the Pizza was ALL GONE!!!! My wife and I couldn't make up our minds at first, so we agreed upon splitting our Entrees. She was suggested the Mustard Crusted Chicken, and I went with the Not Your Average Meatloaf. We almost didn't get to share each other entree as they too were almost ALL GONE!!! But somehow we did manage to share and we both agreed that both of our entrees were excellent, The presentation, the quality, the freshness, and the taste. All were TRULY ABOVE AVERAGE...

First time customer and had an amazing experience! Great service and the food was beyond delicious! I came with a friend who has a gluten allergy and they have a whole menu to accommodate her diet. The almond crusted goat cheese salad was delicious! Will definitely be back!!!

Love the goat cheese salad with xtra goat cheese! The mustard crusted chicken is great as always. We try different items once in a while to change it up but not all entrees are amazing. If you stick to what you've tried and loved you will not be disappointed!

The food is so great! The service is so-so. If the wait is long, go on open table and make a reservation. We were told a 40 minute wait but then we made a reservation within the next 15 minutes. We were seated in 20!

We have always had a consistently great experience at this NYAJ, and our visit this past Saturday was no exception. We were greeted promptly and seated right away during a fairly busy Saturday lunch during the holiday season, and the restaurant was probably about 70 percent full. Still, our server was friendly and prompt, and quick with refills and kept checking on us. My crabcake BLT and my wife's turkey BLT were both delicious. It's cool that they offer you an alternative of greens instead of French fries if you so choose. Every meal starts with freshly made focaccia bread with parmesan and EVOO dipping sauce. So good and addictive! Prices are a little bit high for a casual restaurant, but I don't mind paying extra for the quality of food you receive here. This location is their Test Kitchen, so their monthly specials menu differs from the other restaurants, and allows them to get a little creative and a chance to try out some new dishes.

I absolutely love this restaurant! It is always my restaurant of choice when I meet up with friends, and I always stop in for dinner before or after a movie at the Showcase theater nearby. I have never experienced bad service or food in all my visits. I always feel at home when dining at the Not Your Average Joe's in Randolph. Yesterday was a prime example. I was meeting up with friends in the area for lunch and I recommended this place because one of my friends has an intolerance to gluten and I remembered that they have a gluten free menu. I had never seen this menu before and was really impressed with how many options are available to someone with this allergy. Our server, Ashley was extremely friendly and helped us navigate the menu. The manager brought my friends food over to the table, ensuring that it was not in contact with any other gluten dishes. Impressive! At the end of our meal, the manager came back over to our table to see how everything was, and even went as far as to take our empty dishes off the table. We even chatted with him for a little bit and he really just made us feel like we were at home. It was truly refreshing to see a manager who really cares about his customers.

Service here is great. Food, however, is not so great. I will say that you can have a healthy meal here and they try there best to bring different and interesting ingredients together. I tried to have something very simple, a Chicken Caesar, and realized i will not be returning. The salad lacked flavor, no seasoning or even salt on the chicken (this is coming from someone who barely uses salt). The margarita pizza was oily and soggy. Not good. No thank you. Nothing else on the menu appealed to me.

I have eaten there often the last two times I was very disappointed.the waitress was even bad the last time.the spring roll or egg roll was uneatable. tbe bread is always good .I'm always happy with the crusted chicken but the last time was not the same just wasted about 40 dollars..well the beer was good and cold anyways.looks like I have to look for another spot.what changed here?? I have always enjoyed Not Your Average Joe's and for some reason liked the atmosphere at the Randolph location the best. Tonight we went to Norwell, the service was excellent. As usual the bread with olive oil was outstanding. I had the chick pea encrusted flounder on a bed of hummus, which was on the summer menu. Figured I'd try it before they changed to the fall specials. This was the perfect combination of flaky fish and creamy hummus. There wasn't as much coating on the flounder as I expected, but it was delicious. The grape tomatoes tasted like they were just picked from the garden. I did not care for the seasonal local beer which was watermelon flavored. Next time I'll try the watermelon Sangria. The key lime pie was served with fresh whipped cream and raspberry sauce. The pie was creamy and delicious with just the right amount of sweet and tart, the graham cracker crust was excellent, but the sauce would've been better as a drizzle for garnish, instead of the pie sitting in the sauce. Overall an above average meal at Not Your Average Joe's.

Waitress was on her phone at another table while we waited for drink order and bread. I think her name is Erin. If you get her run!!!! I don't know if there was a missed communication or what but one of us ordered a salad and pizza. Pizza didn't come out and lettuce was nasty, not really her fault. Anyway food eh it's better at the norwell location. Much better wait and cook staff.

I have been to Not Your Average Joes on several occasions. The location in Woodbridge, VA is really good for a chain restaurant. This location, however, is really lousy. I went there tonight with my husband, we ordered veggie spring rolls, clam chowder and the goat cheese salad. The spring rolls had definitely been sitting in the refrigerator for several days, the clam chowder was fine but nothing to be excited about and the salad was mediocre at best. Our server, Jess, rarely checked on us. It took at least 5 minutes for us to get our check after finishing our food and drinks when the restaurant was not very busy. I will never go back to this location.

We were sat in Julie F's section. It was the worst service I've had in a long time. She checked on us in passing, clearly unconcerned. Obviously didn't pay much attention to our order, I ordered my steak tips rare and my friend ordered his medium and we both got well done steak tips I could barely eat mine. The only good thing about this meal were the sides and the bread. She didn't pay attention to the status of our drinks, my friends was empty until we left. She asked if I wanted a box after an extended amount of time but didn't clear our plates or ask about a check or desert and then delivered the box and disappeared again, when she came back we were so fed up we just handed her our card so we could get out of there, we wouldn't go back after this experience.

I have been here a few times, and I can always count on having some good food. I frequent the Randolph location here and there, and have nothing but good things to say about this place. Im a fan of any place that gives you freebies to munch on while your waiting for your food, and they supply you with a flavorful red flake, parm cheese, etc. olive oil and bread for dipping..... Yum. On a recent trip I had turkey breast, marinated in Middle Eastern-style spiced yogurt, then skewered, grilled and served with a curried ziziki sauce and pesto over artichoke and feta orzo.... Delish What a mix of flavors going on, and it may sound like a lot, but it blends well perfectly. What I like about this place is you wont go broke and the food is exciting. The Randolph location is their test kitchen, so they are always coming up with some interesting menu items. 2 thumbs up for me

I really like this place, I don't think I come here enough, I only live 10 minutes away! The food is consistent, good, fresh, a little unique. The bread & dip they give is really good. I love their salads, not just the basic house salad or Ceasar salad, great crispy thin pizzas & entrees too! The drinks are great, nice selection of wines. Also, because it is so close to the Showcase cinemas, it is extremely busy on Friday & Saturday Nights, but if you let the waitstaff you are catching a movie, they will rush you out to get to your movie on time & you can get some discount movie tickets here too!

I got the mustard crusted chicken. It was crusted in panko bread crumbs. The mashed potatoes were creamy and the green beans were fresh. The meal cost about $14.99. It was a good portion. The service was good and the atmosphere was good for talking. The bread is quite good too. All in all a pretty good meal.

Definitely our go to place !! We have visited quite often that the staff pretty much recognizes us when we walk in . Mackellan is awesome , always remembers us from the time I was pregnant and now always makes a point to say hi to my son and play around with him . Overall all the waitstaff we have had has always been wonderful . The manager is always around and making sure that every customer is happy . The drinks are always amazing as is the beer selection and both me , my fiancée and my extended family have always had great meals . Bread and oil is amazing and the email club is excellent , highly highly recommend this place ! My only wish is that they had broccoli on their menu but I get it .. It's not your average menu !! And wish they stayed open a little later as many nights we are enjoying our delicious drinks and realize then it's close time ! But I certainly recommend this place!! Enjoy !! Sangria is awesome here !!

Really bad experience here. I brought a young lady here before a movie and everything went wrong. Our server , a young girl got our drink order wrong by bringing us beers when we ordered wine . Then she brought the wrong food. Then she brought the wrong food for my date, again, and finally brought the right meal but prepared poorly. We left and went to the Olive Garden up the street. Food was better but ended up missing the movie. They got this one all wrong.

When owners and managers of various restaurants view Yelp as a tool to improve their customer service and retain a loyal following, I find it extraordinarily compelling. I returned to Not Your Average Joe's to give it another try at the urging of the manager and I can honestly say, I'm glad I did. My husband and I enjoyed the short rib pretzel bites to start and I dug into the Buffalo Chicken Pizza for the main course while hubs went for one of the signature salads with goat cheese and strawberries. We had a great waitress who very quickly (and without asking) brought refills on my diet soda and water whenever they ran low (yay for bottomless drinks). The food was timed perfectly and we were able to digest our short rib pretzel bites for a little bit before the main courses came out (side note: I hate getting my main course when I'm still eating the appetizer). I have a feeling that my husband and I will be visiting the NYAJ location closer to home more often. :) ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ ORIGINAL REVIEW: Contrary to its namesake, I do find Joe's to be quite average. It's an average chain restaurant that serves average American fare. We stopped in after an annual trek to Ikea and I ordered soup (tomato) and grilled cheese. The food, the cocktails and the service weren't anything to write home about, but they certainly weren't bad either. I would come again if in the area as it's affordable and the vast menu offers a variety of meals that's sure to hit the spot.

I love this place! It's a popular place for date nights with my boyfriend. The servers are always very nice and the food is always amazing, the only thing I would change is that the portion sizes would be a bit bigger for the price.

Great food and drinks. I have been here a few times and had some great meals. Their pizzas and salads are great along with their specialty drinks. Of the Not your average Joe's in the area this is the best one as far as service. Right near the Randolph movie theatre too.

My fiancé and I stumbled on this place on our way home from IKEA and can't wait to come back! What we ordered: GF Thai Lettuce Wraps - super fresh and mouthwateringly awesome GF Harvest Mac and Cheese - lighter than we anticipated (thankfully) with a complex flavor that danced on our tongues Atmosphere: Perfect music for the atmosphere, clean, and they have a large, diversified gluten-free menu. What a gem for us GF fans! Customer Service: Our waitress anticipated o

Not Your Average Joe's is highly rated as an allergy friendly restaurant. Since I have food allergies, it seemed like a good place to try out. I have tried it twice and both times found it wanting. The waitstaff is food knowledgeable but they should have cleaned the grill before putting my steak on to not create cross contamination, which I found out later by an allergic reaction. The food was average at best, with other similar chain restaurants likely serving better food. Most recently, I had the Great Wedge Steak. While the salad and the dressing was well done, the steak should have rested longer before being sliced by the kitchen. It was a dried out and lost all flavor when it came to me. If you have an alternative restaurant for casual dining, you should seek it out.

Not Your Average Joe's was pretty much, well, average. I will give it 3 stars because it served its purpose. I am out of town with coworkers and the menu was expansive (5-6 pages) which is a huge variety. Makes it easier to satisfy 4 people with different tastes. The prices are a little steep for the quality of food - I spent $22 overall and had water to drink, the mustard chicken, and a cup of french onion soup. The soup wasn't special. The chicken was very tender but lacked flavor. I did appreciate the garlic mashed potatoes with the chicken - very garlic-y and very delicious. Nothing any of us ate was to die for. The staff was very friendly but SO slow. I think from sit down to stand up it was 75 minutes which for a restaurant like this on a Tuesday night, is a long time. At one point during the meal the table next to us spilled a water. They were so slow to clean it up a girl walking past completely bit it. My conclusion is that this is an acceptable place to eat but don't be expecting anything you eat to blow you away. It is a casual place with an open atmosphere, big menu (including lots of cocktails we didn't try), and friendly staff.

I really want to like this place....but I just don't. I've given it a ton of chances. The only good thing here is the pizza and the wine. Everything else I've ordered is bland and terrible. I feel like they would have good service...but every time I come I get stuck having bad service and being forgot about. Maybe one day i'll give it another chance...but probably not.

I like this place. I know it's a chain, and that should detract from it, but they have a good (if not slightly cheesy) menu, excellent drinks, and really good servers. The salads are delightful, and very tasty. They have execllent drinks, from good "standards" to some clever newer ones that aren't "over the top." The food is good and reasonably priced for what they give you. Entrees have included very fresh haddock, scallops, wonderful short ribs, and delightful mustard chicken. Even pasta was cooked right, and had some interesting ingredients. In all, it's not a bad choice, but can be crowded...

who would know that after my first visit to this place 2+ years ago, i would become a frequent customer now that i've moved to a place only couple miles away from this place? used to go to the one in Medford which i felt was in decline since its opening, and then the change of the logo makes the place that much less interesting... if they weren't still offering a free dinner for bday boys and girls, i probably wouldn't think much of it by now. what brought it back to life for us is the introduction of their gluten-free menu! my fiance has been on the diet and we've been looking for restaurants that can cater to that need. NYAJ is one of them. they even give him a GF roll and sometimes a separate plate of their famous chili cheese oil dip, which is a really nice touch! in actuality, many of the entree items are naturally GF (or can be slightly modified to make it naturally GF), and they do supply a fair share of GF sandwich/burger items (albeit w/the same dinner roll) so there's none of the "burger w/o a bun" lameness. food and drink (GF or otherwise) is good, but can add up if you opt for a 2-drink, 1-appetizer, 2-entree and 0-1 dessert for dinner for two. that can be easily $70 w/tips--a deterrent for us to make this our weekly hang-out. the only other minor complaint on their GF menu is the lack of selection on appetizers and soups. there are but 2 or 3 appetizers (guacamole, lettuce wrap...) to choose from, both of which are quite easy and/or cheap to make at home hence does not justify the $8-10 price tag. soups can be easily thickened with another kind of GF flour/starch w/o raising food cost too much, so i don't see why none of the soup is GF. the soups sound so good on the menu it's a shame a whole group of people w/dietary restrictions can't get a taste of it. i feel propelled to write Steve (CEO) about that, along w/the uninspiring new logo--someone commented that it looks more like "Bob's" that clothing/general store. i agree. servers are mostly upbeat, polite, smiley, and professional, which is another saving grace. maybe for this and some other reasons i know not, this place is STILL a happening place like i saw 2 years ago, esp. on fri/sat nights, so make sure you call ahead to see if they can hold a spot for you or at least estimate wait time.

On the road. Had heard about this chain and liked the menu. Ok experience. Had the flank steak special with the mexican corn. Steak had good flavor but was tough. Corn good, bread with dinner good, service very attentive. The recommended ale was thin, but that's a personal taste. Seating nice at the pizza bar. I will consider returning but not excited about it.

The other night me and my girlfriend went to the movies and decided to stop off at Joes for a drink and a light dinner. We walk in and are immediately greeted by the host who helped us find a seat at the bar. We sit and the bartender greets us in a smiling happy manor. We look over the extremely over priced drink menu and proceed to order a $4.50 20 oz Bud Light which is outrageous considering there are places down the street that give taller and cheaper beers than that. My girlfriend order a $16 carafe of wine and I understand its wine but its also Randolph median income can't exceeded more than $30,000 there is no need to spend that amount on 16 oz of wine when I can go to smokey bones and have $3 glasses and $1.75 PBRs. I understand this is supposed to be a classier place but its way to over priced for its location. We then look over the menu for I'd say around 30 mins there are too many salads, and nothing really popping off of the page to take me in. The Joe creations are ranging from $14-$20 which is average but I feel as if I order a lasagna or a meatloaf it has been sitting around for a couple of days and it is microwaved so I refuse to spend $15 on a small piece of microwaved lasagna or meatloaf. We decide on getting a marghertia pizza and they have a special Oktoberfest menu so we ordered the jumbalya. Mind you after we finally decided what we wanted to order the bartender seemingly forgot about us and we had to wait an additional 20 mins to place our order. My girlfriend got a side salad which was very good and fresh along with the delicious dressing. The order then comes out at a timely manner did not take to long which it shouldn't on a slow Tuesday night. The pizza looks and smells great the crust is cooked perfectly and there is just enough garlic oil on it to make it moist not soggy. Basil was fresh and not bruised; it was a great pizza. BUT on the other hand the jumbalya was horrific. We were splitting it so it was very nice of them to put it in two different smaller bowls. That's about the only good thing about it. It had shrimp, andouille sausage, linguica, and peppers and onions and all that good stuff you want in a nice Cajun jumbalya. The tomato based sauce that was made with some Oktoberfest beer was horrendous. It had 0 flavor and was scorching hot as if it came right out of the microwave. I mixed it all together to try and spread the flavored but it was a failed attempt at what would seem like an easy dish. We had to add our own salt and pepper, Tabasco sauce and crushed red pepper flakes to rid of the bleak dismal flavor of awfulness. We finish our meals and decide we would like to just go somewhere cheaper for a little after dinner drink. Our bill was $58.65 I put a $100 bill on top of our tab and wait for change. I didn't get change for 30 mins. Both bartenders would walk by it as if I was going to leave them a $41 tip. They would stand next to it and pour beer and talk to the other customers and not acknowledge it. After 30 mins I got fed up and put the money right on the beer tap drip try so then they didn't have a choice but to make my change. In the end it is safe to say I will not be going back to this joes or another Joe's anytime soon for anything.

I'll tell you what. This place is worth going to simply for the delicious bread and oil. From there you could choose to get a pizza or a burger, or one of their bazillion salads, or something else. It's a big menu. I tried a slice of the BBQ Chicken pizza and I wasn't a huge fan. The chicken seemed undercooked and there wasn't enough BBQ sauce so it was pretty dry. I got a salad with some zinfandel dressing. It was very average, and the dressing was really generic despite it being "homemade". The atmosphere is great though, good for a big group cause they have gigantic circular booths, and very.. ah... hip? Anyway, like I said, not a huge fan of the food, but I'd go back for the bread and some drinks anytime. I'd also like to try their buffalo wings. Also, if you're catching a movie afterwards, they sell tickets for like $7 bucks. We didn't have trouble with slow service because we told our waiter upfront that we had a movie to catch.

Not your Average Joe's will get 4 Stars from me for my first take out experience with them. I will also give them an RBI double. Lastnight I ordered online and set out for the 25 minute drive from Walpole to Randolph to pick up our Saturday night dinner. As soon as I walked in there this super polite girl named "Camille" called me by my first name and had my order all packed and ready for pick-up! Now that is fantastic customer service! Camille, you rock! My wife got the large order of steak tips prepared medium well that came with crispy green beans and tasty garlic mashed. The tips were cooked perfectly and were tender as they were flavorful! I went with the "backyard burger" which did not disappoint me in any way-it was a fine burger. We also got 2 orders of the "carribean boneless buffalo tenders" which had a spicey BBQ flavor to them and were surrounded by chunks of pineapple. Dipped in blue cheese dressing, the tenders tasted even better. The whole package deal was easy, simple and hassle free. Good eats here, so I am happy to slap the ol RBI double on them and toss 4 stars their way. What i didnt realize is that somewhere on my journey lastnight, the right rear hubcap fell off the Jetta, and my wife was fuming about it this morning - during the fuming, I told her I was on my way to the clubhouse to get online and yelp this dining experience!

Food quality is great. The prices could be a bit tamer though. The game day deal is a steal. I love every appetizer! Sometimes it is hard to choose. The last game day deal we got was missing the bread and I'm not gonna lie I was pretty sad not to have them.

This is one of the better restaurants to go to in the area. The cocktails are modern, creative, and delicious (albeit, a bit expensive). I've had the chicken ceasar salad twice and it was awesome. The decor is cute and it's sort of a dark, romantic atmosphere. The only downside is it's always busy, and crowds definitely take away from a relaxed, intimate meal. I'd recommend making reservations or getting there on the earlier side. Last time my boyfriend and I went hoping to get some food before catching a movie. There was a 45 minute wait and we didn't have that much time to spare and unfortunately had to go elsewhere. Other than that, it's definitely a place I enjoy and will be going back!

One step in the door and we were struck by the decor-a fusion of retro-60s geometric shapes updated in pumpkiny, earth tones and sparked by a touch of post-industrial metalwork. The casual format borrows from many national chains but adds a more sophisticated bar scene and seems, let's hope, to shun those annoying birthday parades. It reminds me of a slightly funkier Bertuccis. In concept, Not Your Average Joe's seems a union of several traditions. Its cuisine takes home cooking a step beyond with creative flourishes. The menu? Random to the extreme, accidental even. Gather a bunch of random menus, spin the bottle, wherever it lands, insert into Joe's menu. Take your choice... American Traditional: pizza, meatloaf, burgers, crab cakes Asian: spring rolls, ahi tuna wontons, vietnamese salmon Mexican: enchiladas, guacomole dip Italian: tuscon chicken, carbonara, piccata And then there are the puzzlers, like the buffalo caribbean chicken??? I get it Joe, you are not average. But the a.d.d. like menu is more peculiar than interesting. Food quality? Convincingly Average. In fact, i have nothing more interesting to write and will cut this short.

I don't really have anything bad to say about them, although, it didn't leave me wow and amazed. The staff and kitchen will make whatever alterations you want, however, the menu consists of odd combinations which can give a picky eater an instant headache. I will say the staff was friendly and the environment was clean.

I ordered cream of tomato soup and a chicken sandwich. The soup was nice, not great, the sandwich was tasteless. The chicken tasted like it was not freshly cooked but instead heated in a microwave, it was too thick on the bread and the dressing and lettuce kept falling off because the meat was just too large. We also ordered mac and cheese which was just okay. I'll give this place a try again but for now it only gets a 2.

Chain restaurant where I had lunch before laser-tagging at LaserZone nearby. Perhaps we should've waited til after to eat? Anyhoo, very colorful restaurant, clean, with lots of seating. Good for groups. It definitely felt like a chain. Everyone gets complementary bread with olive oil and Parmesan for dipping. The calamari and tuna wantons were tasty. My crabcake BLT "burger" was ok, the fries were decent. The raspberry sorbet came with fresh raspberries, strawberries, and mint and was a perfect light ending to my meal. Service was ok, friendly, polite. They were accommodating with our group of 18 + 3 babies. They lost our reservation made 2 weeks earlier (because we knew we had a big group). The lunch crowd was full of local business-people types.

I really can't say too much because I didn't get very much when I went here. I had the cheese pizza and it was very, very good! The sauce was tangy, cheese stringy and crust was a little soft. It was just the way I like a pizza. AGAIN, it was a nice departure from the classically GOD AWFUL south shore bar pie. It kind of has a retro-modern look with a sleek inner design but with a classy brick oven in the center. The server was... meh. He kept our bread filled and oil filled, but it took him like 15 minutes to get the bill to us. If it weren't for this, it'd be pushing 4 or 5 stars. Either way, I recommend that you so buy bar pies from other worse restaurants and throw it right back at them when you get it, then go here. Cactus Approved.

Service is great. Food is delicious and unique. They have a new menu (as of a couple months ago) and it's really good. I recently tried the pizza and it was amazing, definitely getting it again!! Love the bread and oil that they start you off with, can't get enough of it. They are will to change anything that you don't like or want with your meal, no problem, and take extra special care if someone has a food allergy. They also sell discounted movie tickets for the theater up the street, which is good if you are out doing a dinner and a movie date.

If you enjoy having half cooked chicken on a salad and having your server offer you fully cooked chicken instead of replacing the salad all together, then this Not Your Average Joe's is for you. (utter sarcasm) The above experience turned me completely off for ever going to another NYAJ's again. I've been to other NYAJ's restaurants in various parts of MA and always had a "meh" experience. I do like their pizzas, desserts, and cocktails...but their actual food is not as creative as they consider it to be and there always seems to be a problem with preparation. So yeah, after this last bad experience I had with faulty food preparation at NYAJ, I am swearing this place off for good.

We come here quite a bit because it is easy, delicious, and a nice atmosphere. The bread and oil is fabulous and the Almond Crusted Goat Cheese Salad in always wonderful. I LOVE the dressing. It's a casual atmosphere, with a good drink menu, and always a good time!

I really like this place, I am not huge on chain restaurant's but this one is just funky enough to slide under the radar. I love their take on buffalo chicken tenders they have a Caribbean kick to them. They also have some really great fresh salads and really decent house made dressings. The peanut butter thing (actually the name) on their dessert menu is basically sex on a plate. too bad its probably 12,000 calories.

Stumbled upon this restaurant. Knew nothing about it. The food was excellent. I had a salad and my husband had a pizza. Both dishes were fresh and tasty. I've been to Not Your Average Joes several times and have had nothing but excellent service, food and experiences. Come on where can you go to a hip decor, brick-oven, color-splashed and yummy restaurant and have the sweetest waitress chat with you about "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre"? I mean come on!!!!!!!! She had at me at "Leatherface!!!" I love this place. The food is always delicious and it comes out always just perfectly put together like a master lego building maniac. How do they do that? I always like to sit at the bar and watch the dessert woman/man go to town on making the desserts..it's actually an awesome site to watch. Alright..all chocolate aside... I'd definitely go for the following items: APPETIZERS: Coconut Shrimp it's around $9.50 and worth every penny. Golden brown with this yummy orange dipping sauce!! If you close your eyes while you eat them and hold your ears..you'll actually feel like your in the Bahamas..just for a quick second, only because you'll have to take your hands down quick because you'll want another one pretty fast! Buffalo Chicken Tenders around $8.00..Wow! LOVE EM! Bleu cheese and pineapple jalepeno sauce included....I never knew BUFFALO tasted so good..mwhaaa. NOTE: One thing I've tried a few times and def. do not like is forno baked chicken quesadilla..I don't know it's always just bland and really not very good...that's my opinion and maybe you'll like it...who knows.. MEALS: Mustard Crusted Chicken-My favorite on the entire menu! It's so delicious..Who would think chicken and mustard would be so delicious..it's like that commerical when those two idiots fall down the stairs with the candy and the chocolate and discover a reeses peanut buttercup..it's a creation that's changed my life..GET IT! You'll be happy you did..it's about 14.00 (at dinner time 11.50 at lunch I believe) Herb crusted haddock-Just another absolute delicious entree..what is it with me and "CRUSTED"? hmm...$16.50 @ dinner. They also have excellenet burgers and an excellent portobello mushroom sandwich for you vegetarians! OH..don't forget to get the sweet potato fries instead of regular! They let you switch! Hmm..what else...OH OH...I know...Try these two drinks..a pineapple, orange strawberry smoothie or a rasberry lime rickey..YUUUUUUUUUUMMY! PS..make sure you wear sweat pants..Unless of course, you don't mind unzipping your jeans and leaving with your pants down..cause you'll leave with a huge belly for sure...

So most of the locations are good and Randolph is one of the bigger one's, but for some reason the food did not seem as good as others. their bread and dipping sauces their magic blend most people go crazy for but all I can say is ask for the "Real Olive oil" the oil in the 'blue bottle" is NOT olive oil. It is a blend of 90% Vegetable and 10% Olive. A bit misleading

I love Not Your Average Joe's! The funky/contemporary interior design suits the palate just as their food does...delicious! The bread & oil is oh so bad but ohhh sooo gooood! The mustard encrusted chicken is a favorite, as are many of their salads. The caesar side salad is also perfection. An added perk...get ahead of the lines at Showcase Randolph and purchase your tickets from Joe's as you eat!

I have been to Not Your Average Joe's a few times before. I have had ok experiences there before- nothing amazing but good. Today, unfortunately, was not a good time. There were four of us for lunch (2adults and 2 kids) at about 12:30pm. We were seated right away. The hostess offered us crayons and papers but never came back with them. Our waitress arrived and we ordered drinks and asked if she would bring crayons. Our drinks arrived about 5 minutes later with crayons. We ordered chicken tenders with fries and pizza for the kids and burgers for ourselves. The food arrived a little while later. Both burgers where way over cooked (well plus char). The kids food was way too hot to touch and the plates they were served on we're also very hot. I actually moved the plates away from them with a napkin into the center of the table and asked them to please wait for everything to cool down. Our burgers did not taste very good (not juicy and not much flavor to the meat). We did not send them back because the waitress never came back! Chris ate his burger stating that he was "way to hungry to deal with this crap" and I ate almost half my burger whereas we were going to head to a movie with the kids after lunch and I didn't want to sit through The Lorax hungry. When the pizza and chicken cooled down the girls enjoyed it and it wasn't over cooked. It's very possible that the plates were set on the grill as the food was being plates. I can't imagine how else they would have gotten that hot. When the girls were finished we needed a to go box for my burger and a check but still the waitress wasn't around. I walked up to the hostess and asked if she could get us a to go box and our check. A few minutes later our waitress appeared without a box or check in hand-great! She asked if I would like my food wrapped up. As politely as I could I let her know that our burgers were way over cooked and that we hadn't seen her to let her know and to please bring us a check. Her response was "sorry to hear that". She took my plate. Upon return gave us the box of food and our check. We had a credit card waiting to speed up the process and tipped in cash. We made it to our movie (it had just started). Looking back I question why I tipped her 15% for bad service and over cooked burgers. When I got home my family questioned why I didn't speak to a manager but we wanted to make it to our movie and I didn't see any manager walking around the restaurant. I guess I just felt there wasn't time and didn't want to deal with it with the girls with us- they were already as patient I we could ask for. I won't be going to this restaurant again anytime in the near future. I feel like it was a waste of $50 that could have been spent at many of other restaurants.

My wife and I go here every year, but I hate this place. We go here because my wife gets a free meal on her birthday every year. The service is fin but I'm not a big fan of their food at all. I've tried their burgers which is not eatable because the beef patty is way too big to put in my mouth. I've tried their steak, which is over seasoned. I will probably try the pizza next year.

I actually debated giving them 5 stars (imagine--a chain restaurant with 5 stars?!), but the service is usually pretty slow, so I can't let myself do it. I go here just about every time I'm home in MA, usually for just for drinks. They have a fantastic cocktail menu and the prices are unbeatable. The bartenders, while a little slow to greet and serve, are always friendly and always happy to offer unlimited amounts of their addicting and delicious bread. As a picky eater, I love the diverse menu that can be catered to your specific wants/needs. I usually get a salad, but they have some great sandwiches and platters, as well. The menu changes quite frequently, so you're bound to always find something new to try. Conveniently located right down the street from the movie theater, so a great spot to grab dinner and a movie.

I really like this place !! Be sure to sign up for their "club"... right around your birthday you will receive a voucher for a free ENTREE and DESSERT. And the servers are happy to take it !! My recent visit, I tried the chicken parm with spaghetti squash. It was really good- big portion, chicken was crispy and not dry, sauce was perfect. Other entrees were Mustard crusted chicken and Chicken piccata- both were enjoyed. Strawberry shortcake is a must do. Slightly sweet biscuit, vanilla ice cream strawberries and FRESH whipped cream. Service was excellent ! Be careful on their delicious bread and oil dip - you won't be able to eat your dinner. Always a good consistent meal here.

I live about 10 minutes from this restaurant and I would never come back. I ordered the stuffed quahogs and there was a hair in the middle of the stuffing. The waitress brought the app to the kitchen to show the staff. The manager came back and claimed it was a from a cleaning bristle - there is no way that was a cleaning bristle. When the time for the check arrived, they were still going to charge me for this app until I complained to our server about charging me for something that was not fully eaten.

Excellent service. Great atmosphere. Menu offers something for any taste. Prices are reasonable and portions won't leave you hungry. Fun dessert options and The bar is stocked with exceptional beers and ales.

Horrible, horrible, horrible. Went to Not Your Average Joe's to grab a quick bite on a Saturday afternoon. Service was very slow, food was not good, and there were tiny fruit flies all over the place. This joint makes my skin crawl!

Here for the first time and we were quite surprised. The tomato basil soup was fresh and tasty, I had the Tuscan grilled chicken sandwich and my partner had the turkey burger. He said it was the best turkey burger he has ever had. Great service, nice decor, a little noisy and the surrounding neighborhood is not the best. We will be back.

I didn't expect much here, but for this place to be mediocre at best. It ended up being a little better than average, which I was pleased with. Service was a little slow, but good. I wouldn't say that this is a must go to spot, but it's worth a shot if your within the area looking for a good bar!

Most of our experiences at Joe's have been very good, but we have had a couple of experiences where we were not pleased. Nonetheless, Joe's makes good food with fresh ingredients, they are good to their customers. If you sign up for their email club, you will get a coupon for a free meal and dessert for your birthday. Our only complaint is that Joe's is slightly over-priced for a good (not great) restaurant in the suburbs.

Went there last week - the food was good, service not so much. It took the server about 15min to even notice that we had sat down & he never came over during the meal to see if we wanted refills on our drinks - we had to make eye contact with him or other servers to get more drinks. The bread they serve in the beginning was great! My co-eater was especially pleased with the olive oil/red pepper flakes/Parmesan cheese mixture for dipping. We ordered an appetizer - the buffalo-Caribbean chicken tenders, and for our main meals I had the spicy Hawaiian pizza while my co-eater had the mustard-crusted chicken. The food was good, unfortunately the appetizer didn't come until AFTER we had received our entrees. Management did take off the bill for us without us even saying anything. Overall the food was great taste, alright in presentation while the service was very disappointing.

I am a fan of the bread and dipping sauce that they have here. I am NOT a huge fan of the wait staff though. They are friendly at first, but never around when you need to order another beer or glass of wine. They also seem to forget the drinks and ice cream when you order a kids meal for your child. What gives? There always seems to be more than enough staff, but they never seem to be doing anything. However the food is always good. Some meals are smaller than others, but I'm usually satisfied. And the bread. Yup. You can get it to go :) Have fun.

Went to the restaurant without any reservation around 7. They told us a 20-25 minute wait which they were right on target waited about 20 minutes. They didnt give us a buzzer they actually we around to find us. The atmosphere was nice not to noisy. We had no apps but they do give you bread and dipping oil. It was decent but very cheesy! Both of us had the chicken farfalle with fresh mozzarella and bow tie pasta. The meal was very much worth the money was not over priced or under you get exactly what you payed for. Nothing special that jumps out but was very much comfort food. What really stood out here was the staff. From the start they were welcoming. They were attentive and knew a lot about the food. At the end of the meal they asked us if we wanted to do a review on an iPod which i gladly accepted also informing them i was checked in through yelp and were doing multiple reviews. What was really neat the gave me and her a $5 gift card if we came back which i though was a great touch. Will be coming back!

Have eaten here several times and I'm still surprised it's part of a chain restaurant. This place from it's interesting and diverse menu has the feel of a owner /chef establishment. The food in both quality and prep show attention and care. Staff are both friendly and knowledgeable. Daily specials keep it interesting Prices are reasonable and found good selection of beers and wine. This location can get real busy times due to cinema across the road.

I went here for an early dinner, on a weekday so it wasn't busy at all. The bread was served with olive oil and was very good and fresh. I got the guacamole dip which also was very good and the special that I got was haddock with hummus, arugula, and cumin. It was delicious a large portion I took the rest home. This month was wine month so they offered a lot of nice wines by the glass that are not normally offered by the glass I got the Caymus red wine which was also very good! Overall everything was good and came out promptly :)

I give up on this chain. I came here with my husband and kids for dinner after receiving a gift card for my complaint about the Needham site. The staff was very nice. The food was at best mediocre. The best things here was again the bread and oil and the pizza I got for my son.

NYAJ - Randolph has been a favorite spot for a while. I like the atmosphere and food, and service is always attentive. However, recently, I looked over their nutritional info on their website and was shocked to see all my favorite salads packing over 1,200 calories and 2000-3000 mg of sodium. I suppose you take your calorie chances when eating out, but I am not sure why a Spinach and Pear salad with a vinagrette should top 1,000 calories. And, it doesn't even have chocolate in it! I recommend the place wholeheartedly, but, realize that you may spend two days of Weight Watchers points on your soup to nuts meal.

The best thing about NYAJ is the bread. In fact it is the best bread I have ever had at a restaurant. After that though, the food is in fact AVERAGE. I love chicken, but the chicken dishes there leave a lot to be desired. It seems no matter the dish, its just a (small) piece of plain grilled chicken placed on top of a pasta or vegetable...no marinate or anything. The prices aren't bad, but it reflects the quality of the food. Nevertheless, I will probably go back again and again just for the bread.

I've been here several times, and its usually bordering on 4 star service. This last trip really knocked it down a peg. We went on New Years, so granted it was busy. The staff was incredibly apologetic, which was nice. They were up front that they had run out of many things - including marinara sauce for pizza. But we waited and stuck it out. Our server was mediocre. We asked several times for bread or drinks, and he didn't seem to listen or care. But it was busy, so I'll give him some credit. My sangria was a little too sweet, I'm guessing it was just fruit juice and raspberry ginger ale. You can skimp on my food or service, but don't do it to my liquor.

This place is great! The chef loves garlic. Tremendous food at a very reasonable price. They make every effort to use local produce and fish. Great local brew on tap also. Give it try.

The bread and parmesan cheese/olive oil they serve gratis is often the highlight of the meals there. That is not to say the food is bad, it is good.

Really good bread and oil, good pizza, good beer, slow service, almost always a wait for a table even during lunch. Though it's a chain I don't really get the chain vibe which is good. Worth checking out if you're going to the Cinema.

Nice atmosphere. BUT..... Service is slow. Have to wait loooong for seating eventhough tables are not occupied because staff are not clearing the tables. Menus are filthy with food encrusted onto it. Not sure if food is good yet because I am currently still waiting for my damn food. The wait staff needs to stop dragging their feet. not your average joes? It is def. Below average!

I usually go to the Norwell location but came here after a movie. NEVER NEVER NEVER again. the only saving grace was the bread my bf & i ordered calamari & crab cakes. the crab cakes were made like this 60% celery, 30% red/green pepper & 10% crab meet...yuck. while the batter was falling off of the calamari so i was left with just a piece of warm calamari. they say the calamari is sauted in a garlic oil sauce, not true...its plain fried calamari. the service was meh. we barely touched the calamari, she never asked if everything was ok if you want a decent meal go to the norwell location (they have outside seating too!)

I love Not Your Average Joe's. I'm typically a Chain-hater and don't go to chain restaurants unless there is absolutely nowhere else to eat. NYAJ's does not feel like a chain in the same sense as other famous chains do. I have found that their food is much fresher and made to order. They are very accommodating with special requests as well. I have seen many complaints about poor service, but have not experienced this. I love the bread with the olive oil dipping sauce-- I could live on that stuff. I have had a number of entrees but here are my favs: Pecan Goat Cheese salad-- the goat cheese is warm and gooey, the raspberries are fresh and the dressing is a yummy raspberry vinaigrette. Mustard Crusted Chicken-- very flavorful and the mashed potatoes are so good. Mediterranean Chicken-- YUM! Love this dish. It comes with a side of rice and pita wedges. If you are in the area for the movies-- go here. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I really like the atmosphere of this place and the food is really good. Everyone who works there is really friendly, BUT both times I have been here have been two hour dining experiences because it takes so long to get the food. One time we went there and they were out of breadsticks, so we ordered our food, waiting 45 minutes, and then they brought out breadsticks. Then, we waited another 30 minutes for our appetizer. By the time our actual dinner got there, we were full from all the breadsticks and appetizers and were ready to leave. So, to apologize for the wait, our server offered us a complementary dessert. This took another 10 minutes and it took an additional 10 minutes to get our bill. I'm getting exhausted even writing all of this out. The next time we went wasn't much different, but I will go back again just because the food is really good.

4 stars Joe, only 4. What would have made it 5? If your waitress wasn't so goddamn slow! I went to the Joe's in needham a long time ago and it was memorable enough that I thought I'd try this Randolph location. I had a salad with goat cheese, raspberries and walnuts - amazing. I would go here all the time if there was one in philly! Much love joe, much love.

NYAJ has tasty food, but I've found service from the kitchen is horribly inconsistent in their Randolph location. As has been pointed out, the bread/dipping oil that you are served upon entry is wonderful. Meals are generally pretty okay. I don't think they're extraordinary, but they're typically decent, and one thing that I always like about NYAJ is how amenable the kitchen is to changes (none of this, more of that, swap out this for that, etc). Where they trip up is on actually honoring those requests. Desserts are so-so. Drinks are good. It's not really a place that inspires a lot of enthusiasm for me. It's certainly good, and it's a nice place to go with friends and know that everyone's tastes will be satisfied. It's also pretty family-friendly. It's a very accessible place that's a cut above Chili's, but not fine dining, either.

Pretty much your average Joe's. Food tasted pre-cooked, frozen and re-heated. Service also nothing to write home about. Whole experience felt contrived.

Have you ever been to a place that tries to be "cool" and "hip"? Well that is Not Your Average Joes. Located in a small strip mall, Not Your Average Joes is that place trying to be hip and cool. While traveling in Boston decided to stop at Not Your Average Joes for a bite to eat for dinner. When I got here the place was packed. It was about a 30 minute wait for a Saturday Evening at 7:00 or I could find a seat at the bar. This place is nicely done with modern furnishings and a long bar with 1 nice size TV. The back of the bar is your typical mirror back displaying all of their liquor selections. Well I decided upon the bar found a spot and the bartender was there to offer me a drink and a menu. Not Your Average Joes specializes in your typical American food with a modern twist to it. They offer things like Chicken, Pasta, Pizza, Steaks, and got a couple of Sandwich and Salad options. I almost want to say this menu kind of reminds me of what you will find at an Applebee's, but a bit more upscale with better presentation. Prices here are more expensive than your Applebee's, you're looking between $7 - $10 for appetizers and most of their Dinner options start at $13 and go as high as $20+. I looked through the menu and decided upon the Chicken Oscar and the side salad. I put in my order and the bartender was right there with some bread and my coke. Probably waited about 10 minutes and got my salad. Nice size portion for a side salad, not as fresh as I'm used to as in California, but the salad was good nonetheless. It had some nice greens, sun dried tomatos, and some blue cheese. Good balance to it. As I finished my salad, the Chicken Oscar came out. Portion size was very generous, 2 large chicken breasts, a couple of scallops, and shrimp, veggies and rice... quite a meal. While the portion size was generous, taste wise was hit or miss on it. The pluses were the shrimp and scallops were done just right. Good flavor. The misses were the chicken (over cooked which made it dry) and the artichoke hearts stayed like they just came out of the jar and thrown in. In the end cost me about $23 for dinner. Overall hard for me to give a review of this place. I like the decor but IMO I got the sense that they were trying to be hip and cool when in reality they are a chain located in a strip mall. The portions here were generous and the food was good, but the main dish (the chicken) was overcooked and dry and hard for me not to overlook that point. Overall giving Not Your Average Joe's 3 stars. While not outstanding this place is good enough that I would recommend it for people interested in going to a place a step up from Applebee's.

The bread that they serve was very tasty. My family brought me here for my birthday. It was very crowded that day and the service wasn't bad at all. Seems A-Ok for a night out...if you are already in the area.
